It depends on the symptoms. I don't usually stay in bed unless I am feeling really bad. I am retired now, and when I retired I had so much sick leave built up which I lost. I should have used more of it instead of going to work at times when I was sick. It would have been better for co-workers as well not to be in contact with a sick person.

I try to fight through it but, if I don't take medicine or get enough rest, it always gets worse so I have to listen to my body and if I need more rest I go to bed.

I usually don't get sick other than allergy problems most of the year. I just work my way through it since I don't like sitting around. My philosphy is why sit around being miserable when I could be doing something and not think about it.

I have five boys and two weeks ago one came home sick from school with strep. At the end of week one only two of us were lucky enough to avoid getting it. Austin and my self. I do not like being sick but when I am I drink a lot of water and try to sleep as much as I can.

I usually fight through it. I only take to my bed when I am unable to stand up.

On the rare occasion that I do get sick I usually fight it, but I do rest more as well. So I may exercise, but I'll only go like 3-4 times that week instead of 8-9 like I normally do. If I'm really sick and feel terrible, I increase liquids and stay home. That is my body's way of telling me to lay off and get some rest!

I manage to get sick in a big way once a year and it's always bronchitis. I see my doctor, get the appropriate meds and the couch is mine for a few days!

"How do you handle sickness? Do you try to fight through it and ignore that your are sick or do you hit the bed at the first sign of a sniffle?"
If it is really clear I am about to get sick, I try my best to nip it in the bud... just eat right, drink a lot of fluids, and rest as much as I possibly can. Then if that doesn't work, and I do come down with something, if I possibly can, on day ONE of the real bad symptoms I try to just rest. Usually makes the entire illness so much easier to recover from.

If I'm sick then more than likely my kiddo is sick as well so that means I fight it off as long as possible!

As soon as I start feeling sick I start amping up the vitamins and get extra sleep.

This is a very appropriate question, as I am home sick right now. I try and push through but today my throat was so sore, I couldn't speak. This was not good as I am a teacher/counselor in an elementary school. So today I have been home on the couch sleeping all day and it felt good!!!

I usually try to fight it as long as possible, but eventually I end up in bed. I have asthma and allergies, so when I get sick, or my allergies act up, it usually just gets worse from there.

I usually tough it out with extra vitamins, maybe something over the counter. It's always a point against you if you miss work, so I rarely do.

When I get sick. I refuse to believe that I am sick. Most of the time that works, but not always. I usually try to get a flu shot at the beginning of the winter and that tends to help.

I'm a wimp when it comes to being sick. I'll get chicken soup and hot tea. Then just try to relax on the couch for as long as I can. If it's just a cold, I'll suffer through work but if I'm in pain, I'm staying home.

I am blessed with good health and rarely get sick. When I do I try to handle it with medication I have on hand. I do take it easy usually sooner than later now that there are no children in the house.

When I get sick I try to fight through it, and it works as long as I am keeping the sickness to myself. The second my husband finds out he makes me get in bed and rest until it is gone. He then takes care of everything. It may sound good to some, but I actually enjoy taking care of things. He is very sweet to take such good care of me.

I am very thankful for the good health I have been blessed with. When I do get sick, usually just head congestion, I take sudafed before going to bed at night, drink Emergen-C instead of orange juice, make sure I get plenty of sleep, and eat much healthier! If I ate all the time the way I eat when I do not feel well, my body fat would be much lower.

I will usually fight through it. Although, to be honest, I don't get sick very often. Since joining SP on May 9th, I think I was only sick one day (probably food poisoning) and I was on my way out of town for vacation. So, I was pretty much forced to fight through it, but I did take it pretty easy that day.

I typically am the person that tries to fight through it. I hate wasting my 'sick days' at work on actual sick days. I would rather take the day off and enjoy it, rather than laying in bed. :-)

Luckily, I rarely get sick. I will stay home and sleep if I feel really bad, but I have no little kids at home anymore!

I have to admit that I'm the person who usually fights through it. With two little kids, I don't really have a choice.
