I have been without my female plumbing for decades, but sometimes just eating is a challenge. When I can only eat junk because nothing else sounds good.

My girlfriend from forever just swerved when I said I was eating spinach. She has seen me try to eat it cooked.

Feb-Sorry I am just seeing this thread. I hope you are feeling better now. I think at that time, reach out and let everyone know. Also you may be on the right track with watching a movie or reading a book on raw. I think it will help you stay on track at that time.
I know I can get off track, but if I am reading up and researching this it makes me want to make the right choices as far as foods go :)

Thank you so much, SWEETLIPS, and everyone for the support!
Yes I do juice, and I just recently got back into the green smoothies. I think the only thing that saved me over the weekend is that I stayed consistent with my beet juice tonic (apple, beet, ginger)- because it seems to accumulate and "cleanse" me out all day today... I'm already feeling so much better!

Thanks again!

Marie

Marie, so sorry you were having problems. In the "old days", they gave out what seems like advice that is still pertinent. Like Sweet lips said, less salt. More water. Exercise. Those desserts posted sound so wonderful but sugar of any kind might be a trigger. Eat healthy and don't skip meals in the morning or afternoon. That's my problem. I eat lighter in the am and then in the pm want more...

Good luck. And Mike you are a special man.

Feb through my research, one of the best things to combat PMS is adding more greens and less salt. It appears that gourmet raw enables those PMS issues as much as cooked. I don't know if you juice or smoothie, but you may want to try them right before, extra water and exercise. I hope this helps.

Mike- It was so foolish of me to forget that there are men on this team too! I'm sorry for the "TMI" about the female issues... LOL! But you're very kind and understanding, so thank you for what you said. I'm glad I'm not the only one who struggles with living in a diverse home when it comes to eating!

DEFIANT, yes, I would love an accountability thread or even a May challenge to post daily accountability. I think Yvonne discussed that not too long ago.

Thanks again for the encouragement!

Feb,

Definitely we are here for you so yeah hit us up a few days before hand. It's different for other females some want sweets others want salty/savory.

Maybe we can post an accountability thread and when you are feeling like you want to fall off the wagon then we can go to that thread. I'm not sure if that has been created but there's always the Success Stories Thread that can help motivate you and steer you away from doing so.

Hope this helps!

I know what you mean about the encouragement, my wife is tolerant of my eating ways but not the least encouraging. I make it tough when I need to have some body there to say you shouldn't eat that. like an alcoholic

Thank you so much, DEFIANTVEGAN, those suggestions sound really tasty!

I think what I need to do next month is try to be really active in the raw group here on Spark and with friends for encouragement because I just totally fall off the wagon during TOM- drinking margaritas and eating non-raw dinners and snacks. I do well during the day and then lose myself as the day goes on.
I do think it's lack of support and community here at home. My husband is incredibly encouraging and supportive but he does not eat the same way I'd like to eat. While this doesn't usually pose a threat to me- it does cause problems when I'm depressed and don't make the raw lifestyle a priority during my period. If I could be stronger during this time, then I think I'd persevere. And I need encouragement in order to persevere.
So I'm a few days late in asking for encouragement. Next month I'll give y'all a heads up before it starts so I'll be motivated to do well.
Also, I think it might help to watch a movie about RAW or read a book during this time. Or maybe a visit to the Health Food Store.
I wish I had some raw friends here where I live. That would be a big help. But I don't:-( I get lonely. That's where Spark really comes in handy.

Thanks, friends!

Marie

Feb you're too funny...
Maybe an extra boost of B-Vitamins... What is it that you eat that seems to be the problem first and foremost?

If it's sweets try having raw sweets available. Maybe your raw ice cream and drizzle some raw cacao syrup on it and add some raw nuts walnuts, chopped almonds.

I made this Raw Cream with Cacao Butter, Cashews and Agave (what was left over from the Russell James Dessert) and I made a small dessert for my daughter and I when she came over.

I also had left over raw crumble for the pie I put that on the bottom topped it with fresh strawberries, Raw Sweet Cream and the Raw Cacao for the filling and that was delicious. j

If it's chips you had try pre-making them a few days before and make some cashew sour cream.

Again not sure what you ate so you can make it RAW and Healthier.

So Sorry you are going through this but if this makes you feel better I tend to eat more during TOM and I don't let it bother me because since your eliminating having more food intake I think protects you from getting sick if you don't eat enough causing you to get sick form lack of nutrients so I don't worry about it at all.

It's inevitable... I was doing well and then BAM!!! I get PMS and my period and I end up eating a bunch of crap for several days in a row.

Does anyone have any tips on how to get through this time without completely sabotaging my health efforts? It seems like I become out of control! And the older I get, the worst it gets.
I've tried to prepare myself for these days by keeping lots of good, healthy options around the house and Valerian tea to help keep the sadness and anxiety away. But I do go through what seems like a heavy, irrational bout of depression during these difficult days.
It doesn't surprise me that tribes used to send their women out of the village in times past. I'd send me out of the village, too, if I could.
