Health Benefits of Peaches
Contributor
By Diana Monda Dill

Peaches are native to China, but are now widely cultivated in regions that have cool climates. They were introduced to America in the sixteenth century by Spanish explorers. Peaches are not only a luscious, delicious type of fruit, but also offer a number of health benefits as well.

Anti-carcinogenic
1. Peaches are a good source of antioxidants, which help protect against the growth of tumors and thus protect against certain cancers.
Anti-parasitic
2. Peaches help to eliminate worms from the intestinal tract, thereby preventing many of the health problems that are associated with the infestation.
Laxative
3. Peaches have a high percentage of water and dietary fiber, which have laxative benefits in the digestive process. Regular consumption of the fruit facilitates regular and less strenuous bowel movement.
Eye Health
4. Peaches have carotenoids, which protect the eyes from the harmful effects of sunlight, and prevent or slow down the progression of eye conditions such as cataracts and night blindness.
Diuretic
5. Peaches have been found to have powerful diuretic properties, which are beneficial in alleviating fluid retention and promoting regular passage of urine. They are highly recommended for people suffering from gout and rheumatism.
