I've been oil pulling almost every day for the past year, and I love it.
Here's my ritual: I get up, pop into the washroom (where I have a small tub of CO), scoop a couple of teaspoons of oil into my mouth and start swishing. It does melt really quickly. I then go about making my tea, my partner's coffee and breakfast. By the time that's done (maybe 15 minutes?) I'm sick of swishing, and my mouth is full--as saliva has naturally been happening along the way. I spit into the compost bucket, brush my teeth, and enjoy my tea.
My teeth are definitely whiter, my gums are healthier (flossing is still necessary, darn it!), and I just feel better for having done it.
Also, I've tried both virgin (no flavour) and extra virgin (yummy coconut flavour) and prefer the extra, but that's just my preference. I highly recommend it!

Something that grossed me out is: while I was doing research before starting, one of the articles mentioned spitting it out in the toilet, not the sink because of all of the parasites! I used to wonder at what point were those parasites in my mouth? That might be why I stopped! I had visions of little worms in my mouth! ugggg!

“There's a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses; only results.”
When you get to a plateau, think of it as a landing on the stairway to your goal. And maintenance is a lifelong plateau, so a bit of "rehearsal" for maintenance isn't the worst thing in the world

I did this for about 6 months. I used sunflower oil, but have heard that you can use coconut oil, I assume you would need to warm it a bit to liquify it. It is just diffecult, because you have to do it on an empty stomach, 1st thing in the morning, for 20 minutes. To me, I couldn't do much else! Plus, I'm not really functional until I have my coffee, so waiting 20 minutes to have my coffee was hard! The only thing I noticed was my hair & skin were healthier, shiny & soft.
Is anyone here familiar with this? I recently read an article in First magazine (what else?) and followed it up by goggling the term. Very interesting. Strange, but interesting. Different oils can be used including coconut, sesame, canola, sunflower, olive and probably others. Is supposed to be helpful for gums, whiten teeth and a whole host of other benefits. Just wondering if anyone had either heard of this or had actually tried it?
