I'm on a fairly permanent ketosis diet (under 50grams of carbs/day) apart from occasional slip-ups. You might really enjoy reading this blog by Peter Attia:

Start by reading his bio and the the top 10 posts.
There is lots of info about ketosis eating and how it works. The summary is this. Your body will use fat for fuel rather than sugar and will not store calories in your fat cells but mobilize the energy stored in fat cells and burn it in muscle cells.
It is healthy and helpful (although not always necessary) to eat a ketosis diet long-term as long as you consume enough veggies and some fruit to get the nutrients you need.

Cheers,
Birgit

It's been awhile since I read my Primal books... what's a ketosis diet again?

I've been kind of stuck lately, too. Weight-wise but also in sticking to the primal lifestyle consistently. I was thinking of doing a short fast and something drastic for a little while to get me back on track and hopefully see some changes. I think that would encourage me to keep going with it again...

So yeah. Maybe I'll do it with you! Keep me posted.

I'm embarking on a two week ketosis diet and need some accountability and support. Have any of you tried this before? What have been your experiences?

I'll be blogging about it on my primal/paleo lifestyle blog outdooramy.blospot.com . . .

I'd love to get feedback and comments to help encourage me through it. Especially since I'm such a carb addict. LOL.

I've been stuck on a plateau for a while now and I'm hoping that this two weeks will be enough to kick start my weight loss again. I am starting this evening with a 24 hour fast.
