I tried out an aerobics dvd for people with fibromyalgia and chronic pain. It was fun and felt good. I'm going to review it in a blog.

Yes, I walked in the woods at the Trappist Abbey and then on the way home we stopped at a beautiful new labyrinth placed within a nature trail. It was delightful.

This group is pretty inactive these days! But I have exercised today - 177 minutes, my long walk with my friend Diane. We try to do it every week and it motivates me to up my walking time for the rest of the week so that it doesn't feel so hard. But today it was HUMID and it's amazing how much harder that makes it.
congrats on all your swimming! I wish I were a good swimmer but I am too lazy to try to get better at it. emoticon

Hi Sara - I've signed up for 5K your way and am sloooooowly working my way up to a walking version. I'm trying to get some pictures posted for a 2 year progress blog so you'll know how far I've come - AND how far I still have to go. It feels so good when I can exercise. And I'm with you on the schedule part. I enjoy working out more when I don't have to squeeze it in.

Wow, tennis! I'm impressed. Tried that a few times in my life but I got frustrated because I was pretty bad at it!

Hurrah for you, CJ - that's a wonderful step count!

I have kept my step count up there this week but have not done as much running as I would like, had to save my energy for the evening recording sessions. I only ran one 5K segment.

But I will be out there today! Weather is nice too...

I walked and did my P.T. exercises and stretches. Believe it or not most days I'm getting 9000-10000 steps. What a change for me. And it's good. emoticon

Good going, Sara. I think dancing is GREAT exercise cause it's also fun and an artistic expression.
Played 40 minutes of tennis yesterday morning. I am so psyched!!! Didn't think I'd be able to because of a problem with my arm, but not bad. Stamina was pretty good too after doing aerobics for a year and a half. Definitely gonna get out there again this summer, hopefully frequently.

This IS real exercise! My dancing last night added up to LOTS of steps and despite 2 glasses of wine and a rather full meal, I am down another half pound today. Now don't get excited, this means "down" from yesterday, not from my all time low of 135. I'm maintaining in the 136-138 range. Heading down gradually though...

emoticon Team for getting in some walking (and elliptical and dancing). I focused on getting errands done which involved lots of walking and did my regular walk/dancing (to Ray Charles and Aretha Franklin) so imagine my surprise when I looked at the pedometer this evening and it is over 12,000 steps. What was I thinking? This is like real exercise. The moves are getting easier - and I find I need my stretching even MORE than before. It feels like washing the dishes - the more you do --- the more there are to do! emoticon

I'm a little late in welcoming you CJ, but I haven't been very faithful to SP lately, except for entering my exercise log.
Well done Sara!
I do take advantage of my knee still not hurting too much to get some walking done. Including brisk walking. And still faithful to my elliptical, between 25 and 45 minutes daily.
I have also been trying to focus on warming up and warming... down after elliptical or brisk walking and stretching.
Still not doing much ST except once a week when I attend a class

Hurrah for you, CJ! That is an awesome step count!

Just one little hint - there is a special thread for posting step counts - this thread is for exercise in general, like # of miles or minutes on the elliptical or other forms of cardio.

We also separated out strength training since a lot of us were not managing to do any. I'm not sure having a thread for it has helped... emoticon but at least it's there to encourage us by its mere presence. emoticon

and having shared that info, I will add that I just walked 1.5 miles and am planning a mile or two of Leslie Sansone indoor walking later.

That is awesome, CJ! You are doing so well. I didn't do much today, just walked 1.5 miles, but I had a LOT of indoor straightening up to do, plus schedules, plus getting ready for and hosting a meeting. All done now.

I'm trying to do my running early before it gets too hot. That's hard for me but it does work better. Right now we're having a cool spell, and I felt really frustrated today that I didn't have time to run. Maybe tomorrow!

emoticon I'm continuing my pedometer challenge. Yesterday i did 8,892 steps and also got LOTS of bending over exercise working in the garden. Whew!
I am soooo grateful to be able to do these kinds of things again. emoticon

I was pleased that despite multiple food temptations and a huge slice of blueberry pie in honor of Tom, I weighed the same today as on the day I left. emoticon
Thanks to my friend Bonny, we went on a two-hour hike on Saturday - 14533 steps - and my count was in the 10,000s for Sunday and Monday as well.

Glad to hear you won't need surgery, Lynn. I guess you can do a few chair exercises?
Sara, you keep reminding me of Leslie Sansone. Think I'll break out the CD and do a bit of that today.

Lynn - I guess that's good news, surgery is always a pain...but the wait I'm sure is getting on your nerves. Hang in there and visit us from time to time. You can always record upper body ST...

My exercise today was 3.06 miles walk/run, in 43 minutes, then 12 minutes cool down walk.

hi all. Checking in. No need for surgery it turns out--just be patient and let things heal. Non weightbearing and casted until early July. I continue to be grumpy--keep telling myself it's temporary, etc., but boy o boy do I feel caged sometimes since I can't drive and am having a hard time still with crutches (hand/wrist pain).

But I do have a nice screened porch and we're finally having some hot sunny weather.

Looks like lots of good exercise is happening!

Ran 3.06 miles in 43 minutes - did it in two segments but I'm still pleased!
12 minute cooldown.
Never did watch that movie...I got tired and went to bed. emoticon

Takes a lot of energy to do these big cleanups! I'm taking a break from it tonight.
Did roughly 2.5 miles today, walk/running in a rather unsystematic way, but my times were not too bad. I'm experimenting with a new route for the 5K...involves down one big hill and up another, but lots of flat in between...

Tonight I'm planning to watch more Depardieu in Cyrano de Bergerac! emoticon

Plan on doing 20 to 30 minutes of aerobics after I finish sparking. I need the resulting energy to do a huge cleanout/sorting at my house too. Looking at getting things ready to put our house on the market so it's a BIG job. STill, feels great to unload things we no longer need and donate to those who do.

FINALLY had some good exercise days this week. Wed. and Fri. I did 3 and 2 miles of Leslie DVDs - Friday I added a 1.5 mile walk around the neighborhood.
Today I ran my 5K and did a considerable cool down walk. It was harder than it should have been, due to several days without exercise...but still my time was 44 minutes. Not too bad.

We've had a LOT of rain, and I've been doing huge indoor sorting and throwing away projects involving clothes and books. I've been putting this off for 5 years or more so it does feel good to do it, but I also want to just get it done so I'm obsessed.

Thanks for the kind wishes, Claude. The injury is on the other leg--which is almost worse because my poor knee is taking all the weight and strain right now.

Wow! Sara! Great week, it seems. And putting the vest to good use. That is very nice! emoticon
I have been pretty good this week although have not recorded much here. It's all on my fitness tracker. Have been on the elliptical every day between 30 and 40minutes except on Friday. On Friday I have a one-hour gym class, mostly strength training and stretching. When I'm done, I really feel like I've done enough. ;)

Ah well--best laid plans and all that. I had a lovely day Saturday, ending the afternoon working in my garden and then, walking across the yard at the end of the afternoon, I twisted my ankle badly on some very uneven ground and ended up breaking it. Damn! So I'm now in a cast and non-weightbearing on the injured leg with the prospect of surgery ahead of me. I'll find out more about the surgery next week.

I've been working at home all of this week and haven't left the house except for a doctor's appt on Tuesday--it's just too hard work to get around on crutches or hopping along with a walker. Not to mention I desperately need a shower and am not fit for public viewing.

As you can imagine, I'm just a bit grumpy.
