You do know I just turned 38, right? emoticon So young is not exactly part of the equation... which is one reason why I panic... because I feel like I'm running out of time! I've heard a lot of women say that once they hit their 40's and 50's that it becomes almost impossible to lose weight. I'm not going to lie; part of this is vanity. I just don't want to look this way anymore (I never did want to look this way, actually.) But it's not only that, I also want to be as healthy as possible for as long as possible. Longevity does not run in my family, and I've already had a lot more health problems than most people my age. You're very sweet to say that, though! emoticon

I've had a couple of rough nights as far as sleeping goes, so I am skipping my workout because the more exhausted I am, it seems the more likely I am to injure myself. However, I've been (with the support of my team) doing better on the whole eating thing. Check it out! My ticker moved! In the right way this time! I had been doing pretty badly lately (ever since I got sick last fall) but hopefully I'm turning it around and can turn this little spark into a streak.

I think I forgot to tell you guys, but this month will be the 10 year anniversary for my husband and I. We haven't had professional pictures taken since our engagement photos and I feel like it's been way too long. That stuff is really important, and I've avoided the camera out of shame for several years now. Since Halloween is our favorite time of year we have decided to do them in early to mid October (when it's not hot but also not too cold.) Alex's daughter and her husband had 5 year anniversary pictures taken last year and they turned out really well, so we'll try to use the same one. I want to look good for our pictures and I want to be able to wear my real, original wedding ring for them, so I have a huge goal to meet between now and then. Is anyone up for a team challenge? Maybe that would help.

Sorry for the long post, but I look forward to hearing from you guys soon. Have a great week team!

Hope you & hubby had a great date!

Pam I'm I believer in losing slowly because I think it's easier to transition into maintenance if the weight goes off too quickly people often yoyo & gain back...plus losing slowly gives your skin a better chance of keeping up with the weight loss! emoticon Not emoticon (IMHO). Plus you're so young! Plenty of time to slowly work on nutrition so it becomes lifestyle not the D word!

Have a great evening!

There you go again Mary... giving me EXACTLY what I need EXACTLY when I need it! emoticon I'm so glad you hopped on to help me out, on your phone, no less! You're right about everything. Sometimes it's just hard for me to see the forest for the trees! emoticon All I can think about is how I was doing BEFORE I got sick, not AFTER; and that leaves me missing out on a very big piece of the story. My body and mind have been through a lot and I need to be more patient with myself so I can get a hold on this whole thing. And being stressed out makes it even harder... I can't get rid of the work stress right now but at least I can gain control here. I think today I'm going to go out with my husband to see a movie, and just have some fun. A few months ago, when I was sick, I couldn't do this! When I started this weight loss journey, I was hoping to lose it all in a year and be done. I'm starting to understand that it doesn't work that way. Life gets in the way and there are setbacks... some of them big... failures along with successes... and it's all part of it. Thanks for the support!

I wish I had a computer at home so I could send a long post. Key thing I noticed in your post was "horrible cravings" if you are caving to the cravings on a regular basis then that probably explains why no weight loss...it's easy to consume many calories in a very short time when cravings take over...what works for me Is planning ahead...I didn't today & found myself in the kitchen eating chocolate chips that live in my freezer for use in son's pancakes...normally I don't even think about those cc's but because I didn't eat enough good stuff the cravings hit me emoticon

Try not to be bummed about the jeans...like you said they just wore out...it's not that you busted them...& remember that your glass is so much fuller than it was months ago...you have survived a tumor, steroids, surgery & financial stress! And now you can breathe & sleep again!

Keep listening to your body! Don't overdo

Yesterday I got in about 20 minutes of trampoline cardio followed by a teensy 10 minute self led yoga session. I hoped it would help move around some of the lactic acid in my muscles. I'm still pretty sore today so I think I'll abstain until Sunday to give my muscles a chance to heal and re-build before going again.

I kinda had an 'aha!' moment at work with a patient, but it sadly didn't last. She and I ended up talking Tracy before she went in for her eye exam and she has heard good things and is excited to give it a go. I advised her to try Tracy's mat workout, as it seems everyone loves that one. Then, when she came back out to the desk, it just sorta happened... she shared that she had broken her ankle which totally de-railed her after she'd been doing so well with her fitness. We mused that maybe it's like ripping off a band aid. The soreness ALL OVER AGAIN is going to suck because we'd already worked so hard for everything we'd accomplished in our workouts then lost it all due to something beyond our control. It was after that conversation that I did the long MS workout and, the next day, the trampoline cardio. I was back! But then I had the saddest day yesterday. I only had one pair of jeans that fit. I'd gotten rid of the ones that were too big (these were just really baggy... that's why they were still around.) But then with the high dose steroids last year and 3 months of bed rest I gained 30 pounds and only this one pair of jeans still fit. I was NOT going to get another pair until I'd lost some of this weight... and then they ripped (just from being old and over-used for too long... I didn't bust out of them or anything.) So I had to go to Goodwill and get another pair of jeans... and it just made me feel so very sad that I had to get a size 16 again. I've been failing miserably on losing weight after the sinus tumor and the medications and trauma, and I don't know why! I feel like I should be losing, at minimum, a little bit of weight. Why won't my body cooperate? Why do I have these horrible cravings when I'm stressed? Why do I start out every day with good intentions and feel like a miserable failure by the end of the day, after failing yet again? This is why I hate buying clothes; it sends me in to such a depressive funk.

I'm actually not making up excuses to not workout today... I'm in a lot of pain from going hard and I know I just need to get my protein in and allow my body a couple of days to heal. I'll get there again with the workouts. I got there before, right? But why won't this weight budge? Even a little? I'm such a sad panda!

Thanks for listening to me, and I hope to hear from you guys soon. Have a great Friday!

Great job Pam!

I'm restarting Marki's 4 x 10 challenge today

Every day:

10 servings fruits/veggies
10 cups water
10 minutes TA exercise
10 minutes other exercise

at least I think that's what we did!

I have got to get back to exercising just a little...I think this goal is doable...wish me luck! emoticon

Hope everyone is having a great week and getting stronger by the day! emoticon

Just popping in for a quickie! emoticon I got my Tracy in today of almost an hour of MS with the new express video; however, I didn't make it through all the reps. I'm not back up to doing MS and cardio together yet, but I'm working towards it. And now even the government says 250 minutes of fitness are needed per week in order to induce noticeable changes. I'm certainly not back up to that much yet!

Did you guys know that Tracy has a new DVD coming out June 2 called Slim & Sculpt that utilizes the bands (like in teen meta)? Extra motivation coming our way!

Have a great hump day, team! We can do it!

emoticon Happy Tuesday everyone!

Go Team! emoticon

I love reading all your posts but no time for me to write right now! That will change - less than 5 weeks to go! Not exercising right now but I'm in constant motion all day long so weight is dropping little by little...might get back to goal weight in May!

Life is good - just insanely busy!

Pura Vida! emoticon emoticon

Back to work so Tata4now!

I'm glad you're starting to feel more comfortable with the Method! It really helps to learn about the moves first, before going into that territory of absolutely no instruction! And the Mat Workout also has instruction, so I believe you'll benefit from that as well. As for cardio, my preference is trampoline. Tracy has 2 trampoline workouts that were commercially produced plus one that was intended to be a gift, and never to be sold. That one is the Tel Aviv and you can find it on YouTube if you decide rebounding might be right for you.

From the workout I did yesterday I'm pretty sore in my core (all of it... abs, erector spinae, general low back.) I decided not to attempt to workout this morning when it hurt to roll over in the middle of the night, but it does appear that I accomplished my goal of not going too hard on my knee. It seems fine so far.

It sucks to be broke around our birthdays (my husband and I have birthdays 4 days apart.) We're not going to go hungry or anything (our pantry is always pretty full) but we won't be able to get each other gifts until the middle of May. (We had to pay off hospital bills then pay personal property tax, get Alex's driver's licence renewed, and inspections on the car. May 1 we'll pay for the tags and be done with the pressing expensive things for now.) I can't wait to have a financial breather next month and finally be able to do more fun things with our dough!

Anywhoo, it's that time again. I hope you all had an awesome weekend and are looking forward to a great week!

I can definitely sympathize with the knee pain :( I've had horrible pain since I was a teenager. Hope you start felling better!!!!

So I have done the beginner method workout 3 times this past week. She gives a lot more instruction which I so glad because I am finally starting to get it. It is so awkward the first time doing any of it...such weird moves! But I feel it the next day! My hips are starting to stretch which I am needing. I am waiting for my mat workout dvd to come so I am going to keep doing the beginner method workout #2 and 3 until it arrives.

Hope everyone had a good weekend! Excited for a new week! :)

Wow Marki, your injury story is much better than mine! Getting hit by a car can be really bad... other than your knee, how bad were your injuries? That sounds like it would absolutely suck! I'm glad you weren't left with worse problems, even though they're definitely bad enough. I'm sorry your knee brace doesn't help... if a brace doesn't do it, then it sounds like rest is the only thing left... and I know how that kills you because you're so active!

Today I finally was brave enough to get some Tracy in. It was about 35-40 minutes of MS. I didn't feel confident enough to attempt trampoline cardio with this whole knee issue. I did the newest one, Method Express, that has 6 10 minute segments. Then I fast forwarded (or, when possible modified) anything that stands on knees or is in plank position. As you ladies know, that takes out a lot, but I still had arms, some abs, and side lying or squatting legs. I chose to do the squatting or plie type work because I want to start giving my knees some work without causing a setback.

My husband's birthday was 2 days ago and mine is this Tuesday, so my nutrition has been sub-par. I will start getting back to no sugar after my birthday because there will be some form of gluten free cake (cheesecake or regular gluten free cake) that is always presented on birthdays. Getting old does suck, but I guess it beats the alternative!

I hope everyone had a good weekend, and I'm setting my intentions for a healthier week ahead than last week. I hope you all get the opportunity to do the same and I look forward to hearing from you all soon!

Happy Saturday!

Hope everyone is having fun this weekend. If so, have a little more for me. We are down to the wire, and it feels like we still have soooooooo much to do.

Pam, I have a friend that has to have knee surgery for her ACL (??). When I asked her how she injured herself she said, rolling over in bed emoticon Can you imagine? Crazy! My knee issues started after being hit by a car, while crossing in a crosswalk. I have a brace, but it doesn't really help. Taping works better, but it's such a pain, I don't do it as often as I should. But usually I just have to avoid major impact things like running or jumping on hard surfaces. But lately, I"m dealing with IT Band issues that are related to my tight hip flexors, and both are causing knee issues. Sucks getting old. emoticon

Well, break time is over. Back to packing. Do some extra Tracy for me too!

Marki, I know you've been having struggles with your knees as well! I know it's difficult to do ANYTHING with knee issues... moving must be really tough! First my knee swelled, then all the supporting muscles around it twitched for a couple of days, then it was stiff and hard to bend for a couple of days. I think it's on the mend now so I'm just doing less of things that I usually do, but still doing them (hip stretches, for example) to try to allow my knee to get back into the swing of things but not re-injure it. I don't even really know how it happened, but something not too special is the culprit. Are you bracing your knee while moving?

A friendly shout out to our new member! I forgot to tell you, I have my own playlist too. It is especially important for Meta... that techno music she has going on in the background would make me pull my hair out. I have a playlist for muscular structure (heavy percussion), one for cardio, and one for stretching. But Tracy's Mat Workout has awesome music all on it's own, so you might not need one for that.

Anywhoo, it's that time again... to get ready to go to hell...WORK! I MEANT WORK! Have a great weekend, team!

Oh Pam. Your poor knee! I know your pain and definitely sympathize. When I had tried to restart Meta a week or so ago, I did something weird to my knee too, I don't think it was during the workout but while doing something when we were packing. Stupid knees. Oh but Pam, my doctor had told me before that I keep having knee issues because I have tight hip flexors from sitting. So, maybe you should try some gentle hip stretches while you're recovering . Good luck. Hope you feel better soon.

Ok ladies, have a Happy Friday tomorrow. And if I don't get a chance to check in, have a fabulous weekend.

Mary, emoticon Hope you had a great week too.

Thank you both for your warm welcomes! I appreciate the tips. I am going to try the method for beginners today and see of that helps. I feel very overwhelmed and intimidated but I plan on sticking it out! I am going to add my music to the dance cardio---sounds more fun! I was having a hard time making it through even though I love to dance. I will let you know how it goes today!
Also-that would be amazing if you both restarted meta with m when I restart it!

I would like to extend a warm welcome to our newest member! Marki gave you some great advice. The Mat Workout is also my favorite all time Tracy video, plus on YouTube there are other short promo videos that Tracy has done; they also might help ease you into the Method without as much risk of an injury. Meta is really tough and you might be best served by getting some instruction first before jumping in. And if you're a reader Tracy has a book that you can pick up for a song on ebay. If you do take Marki's advice, I will also join you when you re-start Meta. I have the first 2 years collecting dust at the moment!

Marki, I don't have Netflix and that must be why I've never heard of Brain Games. But I know advertisers use some pretty dastardly deeds to get us to buy their products, so I'm going to have to watch some episodes on YouTube and see what exactly they've been doing to us! Also, I've always enjoyed psychology, so it should be a show I'll enjoy. I don't envy you staying at the gingerbread house... that would send me into a TOTAL tailspin! But you're strong, so just try to remember that when those yummy yet poisonous treats are staring you in the face!

I've been sidelined by a knee injury, so I've been out of the game for a bit. I keep injuring myself in the weirdest ways... nothing heroic or exciting... just small things. Today I'm going to try going without my knee support at work and see how I do. If it gets too hairy, I work at a desk so I can make other people do their own jobs rather than me doing them and running around the office like a recently escaped lunatic!

Speaking of which... it's time to go jump in the shower and get ready for work. I hope to hear from you guys soon... We can do it!!!

Hi!! Welcome to the team! Congratulations on surviving Day 1 of Meta! If Meta is your first Tracy workout, you should definitely give her Mat Workout a try for a few days or longer. I'd even suggest buying it. I think you can find it for $7 on Amazon. It's my absolute favorite Tracy workout. And I always return to the arm section for an extra burn.

The Method for beginners used to be available on YouTube. It's definitely worth watching. I bought it when it came out and I wished that I had been given all of the insights it contains before I started Meta.

If you decide to switch to the Mat Workout let me know when you're ready to start Meta again and I'll join you. I've been trying to start over but keep flaking.

The best Meta advice i ever got was not to stress over keeping up with Tracy. Just hit pause and go at your own pace. Also Tracy's come out with some better dance cardio DVDs Dance Plus Cardio and the new Dance Cardio for Beginners. But when doing Meta dance cardio, just use your own music and do your best to keep up and just keep moving. You'll eventually learn the moves. Jumping into the workout without instruction is like fitness for your brain. Good luck!

Hi! I started Meta Omni yesterday. Found it very difficult and I am super sore EVERYWHERE today! :) I thought it was very hard to follow along with Tracy and had to pay close attention when she changed moves. I am wondering if I should go to the Mat workout that is on youtube before I jump into Meta or should I just keep going with it?

Pam, once we get settled in CA, I definitely want to order your lotion stick. I'll try to remember to send you my email, or you can text me. I just SP mailed my number to you again, since I missed your SOS.

Monday is moving day. we'll be staying temporarily with my sister in Huntington Beach while we look for a place that will fit our budget and take our dog. The hardest part of staying with my sister is that my husband and I refer to her house as the gingerbread house. She and her husband have cookies, cakes, breads, and candy popping out of every cupboard you open. So, even though it's nothing that we'd crave or eat normally, it's much harder to say no, when it's right there, all the time. emoticon I'm hoping we find something really fast. Hopefully the perfect thing will open up on the 1st. I want to start a new Whole30 on the 4th and not being around all the sugar will make it so much easier.

Do you have Netflix? Brain Games is on Netflix or you can find full episodes on YouTube. I LOVE that show. It's crazy!!! Each episode covers different ways our brains work. And it's very enlightening. One episode was on how advertisers and marketing agencies use our brains to trick us into buying their products or different sizes. Not that you have a lot of free time, but next time you do, check it out. It's CRAZY!!!!

Ok. Packing break is over. Gotta run. The buyers are coming over tomorrow to measure things and I can't have my house a total mess.

Mary, emoticon

Marki, I'm sorry you've got to do a mulligan! I know you've been working at selling the house for a long time, but it's tough out there and even though people might really want and really love your house worry about what would happen if they lost their job or whatever. You'll get through it though, I know you! You're one tough cookie (but with a soft gooey center!) And you ARE getting your workouts in with all that packing! That is hard work and your muscles being sore are your proof!

I've never seen Brain Games, but it sounds like fun. I want to stress that I'm not trying to make anyone buy any of my products, but if you really want to (and no hard feelings if you don't!) I could send you a paypal request or whatever works with you and ship one to you. It's pretty chilly here so as long as it's not hot where you are that should work out fine; I designed the lotion sticks to melt into your skin... so they could get soft or melt if exposed to too much heat. And that would be awesome for us all to get together at a Tracy event or something! Maybe one day!

Btw, Tracy is on the cover of Health magazine for May. I'm on the lookout for it!

Mary, I hope all is going really awesome in your life and we all can't wait to hear all about your adventures!

Life has really been kicking my patootie lately. I'm trying to stay positive but I get triggered way too often. I swear I need a sponsor like they have at AA or NA!

I hope you all have a super awesome week and I look forward to hearing from you. Have a great one!

Happy Monday!

Mary, great to see you dropping by. Hope you're getting caught up on life. You son, must miss all your cooking and having you at all his games.

Pam, I'm sorry. I definitely like the concept of your product name, It was just a mental slow down, and a brain stall that took a second to get refocused on the positive concept. Have you seen Brain Games? It's crazy the short cuts our brains take. Please let me know how I can try your lotion stick. I would LOVE to buy some, and would feel lucky for the opportunity. Definitely, can't afford to hop on a plane and visit, although that would be fun too.

Ok. I was just taking a quick packing break. and wanted to say hi. Have to put my workouts on hold this week. No time and my muscles are sore from all the lifting. Maya 4th starts a complete do over.

Marki

Thanks for finding my products interesting, and I'm sorry you don't like the name. It came about because when asked to describe my products I'd always say they were 'crap free' and it just stuck; unfortunately, no I don't have a website. I thought when (if) my products ever took off that I would have one set up; I don't know how to do that sort of thing so I would probably have to pay someone else to do it. I had sunk so much money into the products already, and although everyone raves about them I just wasn't making that much off of them (my labor comes out to about minimum wage.) I have them priced not too high above the cost of ingredients (because I use high quality organic ingredients), packaging (that stuff's expensive!), and labels (the companies make you buy a lot at once.) I thought that if they became popular I would raise prices to something more reasonable and fair for me, but it never happened. If you ever decide to try something, the lotion stick is my most popular item, and is incredibly hydrating. It contains ingredients you've probably heard of (like jojoba oil and shea butter) but also some you might not have (like illipe and kokum butter.) It's $15, but I'm not trying to make you guys buy anything from me. When I gave it a go, I thought I had a chance of success because I believed that if I understood my chemistry and the way ingredients interact with each other and made the best thing out there that people would buy it. I even gave out gift bags that people raved about, and still rave about, but when it came down to paying for the next one... no dice. I was naive... or just plain stupid.

I'm sure you'll have no problems getting those 3 pounds off! You're right, a lot of this is getting our diets clean, and that's SO hard to do! And I hope your knee is feeling better today. A lot of Method and Simone is on hands and knees, so make sure you're careful and have a lot of padding underneath it! Please keep us updated about your house and know that you'll be in my thoughts!

Mary, I know you're very busy right now but I hope everything is going well for you!

Time to start getting ready for work. Have a great day!

Happy Tuesday!

emoticon on your order Pam. I remember when you would make your products to sell around Christmas or for yoga events. Your concoctions sounded AMAZING and I wished that I was there to buy some. I still wish you could take your product line to your local (or as local as you have) Whole Foods. I'm sure you'd sell out. Our WFs has a special section to support small local natural business startups, like you and your Krappe Phree. Although, I have to be honest, something about reading the name Krappe Phree was a little off-putting, even though logically I know it's a cute & cleaver wordplay. I think my brain focused and got stuck on the word Krappe and the positive combination didn't register automatically. Have you ever watched Brain Games? I love that show. Anyway, do you have a link for your products? I'd love the opportunity to check them out, and give them a try.

Oh, and thank you. you're right, probably because I hadn't read Simone's book, I didn't understand what you were saying about the cleanse and her program. Thanks for clearing that up. I still want and need to finish reading it, and plan on checking out her TV channel again, now that you've cleared up that you stream it to your TV too. I thought it was only available on the computer and my eyes aren't good enough for that. emoticon

Hope your feeling better today. I'm suffering with you, with scale fluctuation too. I started Meta over again on Sunday, and thought I was eating better, but my scale says I"m up 3 pounds this morning emoticon I"m not going to stress over it though. I just have to eat real food, and stick to the workout plan. I haven't solidified a real "Freedom Challenge" yet, but just starting Tracy over again is a good start for now. Hopefully my knee holds for the duration. It's pretty tender today.

Mary, thanks for popping in. Sounds like you've got so much going on. Great job, keeping yourself on your list. I know it's not your A game, but considering everything you've got going on, I'd give you an A.

Ok, I'm off. So much to figure out today. I need to go workout for the stress relief. We're in such limbo today. Our buyers were supposed to lift the contingency yesterday, but didn't. So, now we have no idea where we go from here. Escrow was supposed to close on the 22n'd, giving us 10 days to pack, but there's no way we can start packing while the sale is still contingent and not pending. So WTH!!! We can walk away from the deal, but then we have to start over from scratch, which will suck. I guess we have to say a prayer and trust in God that things will work out the way they are intended.

Have a great day everyone, and a fabulous week! I'll be thinking of you, and will try to check in tomorrow.

Mary, hi tootsie! It's good to hear from you and that things are going, for the most part, well for you! We all have busy times in our lives but yours sounds exciting and we can't wait to hear about it! Good job on the pound down emoticon Personally I'm menstrual at the moment so the scale is all over the place, so I don't know how bad it is. I'll be up 4 lbs one day and be back down the next. I'm glad I only have 4 a year!

Marki, I must not have been clear, so I apologize. I read Simone's book cover to cover but I didn't do the 'cleanse' because I didn't want to be that hungry constantly (it sure LOOKS a lot like a 700-900 calorie per day diet!) and I didn't work out to the book because that's not how I operate best. I signed up for Simone's website for a month instead (which has A LOT of content) and streamed it to my TV.

I've been MIA for a few days because my 'side business', if you can even call it that, finally got an order! [I make natural products for myself, utilizing the highest quality ingredients from all over the world. I am very sensitive to chemicals and, for example, I have to avoid using the bathroom in stores and gas stations. If I do, I use an alcohol based hand sanitizer instead of their soap because I will get a rash on my hands that looks like poison ivy if I use random soaps. So I thought other people would love these too... and they do. But when they run out of their sample that they raved over, they won't BUY it! But they'll keep raving about how much they loved it!] Anywhoo, a guy my husband used to work with ordered a lotion stick, under eye cream, facial serum, lip balm, yoga mat spray, foaming hand soap, and laundry detergent. I also provided a 4 oz sample of my Uplifting bath oil. Of course my stepdaughter wanted lotion sticks and laundry detergent too and I had an under eye cream, lip balm, and 4 oz bath oil left and gave her those too. I'd been putting in an hour here or there, but wasn't making enough headway in time to get the order filled, so I worked about 11 hours on Sunday to get it finished, so I haven't had time for anything else. But it was the first order Krappe Phree had gotten in months so I was very grateful to get it!

Regarding the yoga, Anusara has always been my favorite. It's basically Iyengar without the a$$hole element (that guy was the biggest jerk ever!) but the yoga studio in the area was the Dynamic Method. I don't have a lot of other experience in other kinds, although I've tried a few. I never got to look at your videos because I received the order and have been working plus filling the order for Krappe Phree. This week I'll get back to it, though!

Have a great week, team!

My work life is crazy right now but that's a good thing! Sad thing is no time for Sparking or traveling with son's basketball team or leaving work to feed son an after school meal or feed myself at work (I have to sneak into the warehouse & eat & it's been 3pm lately before I have the chance to do that!) On my feet all day - no chance to sit at computer & spark while I eat like I did before...good news is down a pound this week!... Managing 10 min TA & 30 min JS challenge at night...but poor doggie is not getting mid day walk & son getting himself pizza or Chickfila for afternoon meal instead of healthy "mom food" - so feeling bad for my boys - just gotta hang in until May 31 & things will totally change! So no challenge commitments from me til then unless it's 30 min or less per day! But I'd love to hear about what y'all are doing! This is long enough... I'm on my phone...I'll try to post from a computer soon & fill you in on how my life is changing!

Pam, that yoga practice is Kundalini yoga???? Do you know anything about that style? I saw a few videos on youtube and it's lots of breathing and chanting, not the typical yoga moves that I'm used to seeing.

My goal for this weekend is to find time to really read Simone's book. Starting tomorrow, we have 12 weeks until the 4th of July. emoticon I think I'm going to push myself and restart Meta tomorrow.

Mary, hope you've had a great week. emoticon

Happy Friday! Have a fabulous weekend! emoticon

Pam, I haven't tried the yoga yet. It's breathing and contractions. I saw she had a few other videos. One was titled the U breath. They definitely seem like she's getting into the spiritual side or deeper yoga beliefs and how it heals the mind, body, and sprit.

So, it sounds, like you got the book, but haven't really read the book either emoticon I was hoping you'd be able to explain the entire 8 week program. I wasn't sure what to expect from a book program either. I'm definitely not interested in counting or restricting calories. I want to continue to focus on the power of inclusion. water, veggies, fiber. And avoidance of sugar, processed crap, chemicals, and grains. And I need to check out her exercises. Because at least Tracy's book came with the exercises on a DVD. Oh well. I'm sure if we all put our heads together, we can come up with an 8 week challenge that can help bring us back around to our A games. emoticon

Walking, Rebounding, Mat workout. today. Feeling good.

Sorry, I responded this morning but the computer ate it and I didn't have time to re-do it emoticon I'm fortunate to have sparkfriends who are generous with their time and sweet with their words emoticon I will look up your link when I get home because I'm curious what this gal has to offer. There are SO many kinds of yoga, and some practices are much more than postures. Of course when I was a younger gal (also thinner, smarter, prettier, and indestructible... were you those when you were young too?) I was really only into how flexible I could get (because I really looked up to the cheerleaders and my mother never let me try out) but now that I'm no longer any of those things I'm very interested to see what else there might be to help us out there. Have you tried it yet?

And I did get the book. I actually got two because my first book got lost in the mail so they sent me another... then the first one eventually arrived. Simone was with Tracy in the old days when a lot of the content was being created... it was just a case in which these two gals couldn't get along. But if you like the Method, it's just like new Tracy material (and some is exactly the same.) I would be up to a challenge but I've never worked out with just a book before. So that would be a challenge in and of itself! And if Mary needs a book I could mail her the spare one I have. The 'cleanse', she stresses, is NOT a diet... but it SOUNDS a lot like a diet... low calorie, low quick carbs, small portions... so we would need to discuss if we want to take that on. I heard it's 700-900 calories a day and there is a lot of exercise so I'm not sure I really want to do the 'cleanse' but we could discuss it and decide if that's right for us. Simone also has her website that is under $10 per month that you can stream with all kinds of cardio like dance and trampoline, and MS that some is normal and some is too crazy hard for me right now. So that could be an option too.

I really appreciate having such great gals for support! Well, I'd better get back to work because lunch is over. I hope you guys finish out the week strong!

Pam, Thanks for trying to be so considerate, but don't worry. I'm never too busy, or too wrapped up in myself that I wouldn't make time to help a friend. So if you ever feel you need help, don't be afraid to reach out. emoticon Just remember, the time difference emoticon I have a SP friend that lives in Illinois, and she always texts me in the morning, when she gets up, which usually is around 3:30 a.m my time. emoticon I don't care but my husband gets annoyed.

So I messed up on the title, and the spelling. It's called the Body Locks by Carolyn Cowan
www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2pE7ZMHwJ8 I guess she teaches a seminar and the video is a technique she's sharing from her program.

I'm new to yoga, and still discovering the meaning of the chanting and poses, and the different types.

Oh. And Pam, have your read that 8 week body make over book yet? I bought it, I've looked at it, but I haven't really looked at her 8 week program. But I was thinking that maybe we could look at her program and see if we could make it work for us, as a team, and kick May off with an 8 week challenge. Or we could start sooner, and try to see how many weeks we can get in to have our challenge end on July 4th. It will feel amazing to celebrate our success with fireworks don't you think? Mary what do you think? I'll send you a copy of the book, (if Pam says it's any good, since I haven't really read it yet) Then we can all do it.

So, this week has started off well, and I"m heading to bed feeling content with the choices I made today. Hope you both and all if there's anyone else out there, are having a great week too.
emoticon

Marki, it's good to hear from you! Don't beat yourself up because you enjoyed one of your favorite holidays! (In my home we honor the spring equinox on Easter because, even though it's a few days off, it's easier to do it when everyone else is celebrating something.) Honestly I didn't reach out to you personally because you're in the middle of a huge life change and I don't think it's fair to expect you to halt this huge project to deal with a chronic condition that belongs to someone else. I hit the panic button because it's advertised as this great thing for immediate help. However, it didn't feel like 'help' for someone to be really rude on the board. And since there were only about 2 or 3 responses... I mean... WOW!

I've never heard of the yoga technique you're referring to. I'm open to anything that would help, though. I tried googling it but nothing came up. I'll have to try to find the video on youtube you're referring to. Of course I have to go start getting ready for work right now so it will have to be when I have more time...

Mary, darling! How was your weekend? You're my super trooper! And AWESOME job on your work lunches. Work always seems to be hard to get on point food wise, but adding extra veggies to something frozen is A LOT better than many alternatives... you're one resourceful gal emoticon

I hope you gals had a humane Monday. Toodles!

Happy Monday! Hope you both had a great weekend, and happy Easter.

I need to figure out what's going on with my notifications. I hadn't seen that anyone had replied since my last post, yet here you both have been, and I was the one MIA. emoticon

Pam, I sent you my cell number in that message with my house link. You should have sent me a panic button text. I would have been there. emoticon Pam, you're a yogi, and I saw this thing on YouTube, a quick clip on how to Locke ??? The instructor says you can use the method to help you beat addictive urges. She mentioned you could even do it sitting at your desk. She wasn't one of my regular subscriptions, just one of YouTube's suggestions for me. White haired lady. I'll look for it today. But have you ever heard of using yoga that way?

Mary, crazy busy weekends? Did you ever share your exciting news about life changes??? It's ok, if you're not ready to share yet, I'm just asking since I keep popping in and out, I'm not sure if I've missed it. I can relate to that B game feeling, but I have to commend you, because your B game is way better than most A games. emoticon

Ok. Today is a new day one. Yesterday, was a self induced sugar binge day for me. Easter has always been one of my favorite holidays, I was so sad that our last Easter in our fabulous house with our fabulous egg hunting yard, was so quiet. Logically of course I couldn't have handled party planning, but it just didn't feel like Easter so I baked a half batch of sugar cookies and they were done and ready to eat before any of the real food I was cooking. Woke up bloated and feeling so hungover. But trust me no alcohol was consumed. Just sugar cookies. emoticon

Have a great day! New week! emoticon

Mary, I very much needed someone in my corner! You are really just the best! emoticon I like stewed tomatoes over the rice or putting it in that awesome pureed soup (roasted carrots and caramelized onions with spices and stock) but I'm sure you can come up with a couple of more outstanding ways to use it as well. I know how to take pictures with my phone but I don't know how to send them emoticon so I don't know if I'll be able to send the photo of the shopping cart, but it's a great idea! But I'll definitely have to be strong this weekend when I'm doing groceries.

I'll admit that I haven't been working out much... but I have been having sore muscle groups almost daily (shoulders, abs, calves...) I turn 38 this month... and have you heard the rumor about women's sex drive changing at that age? I never thought much of it because I thought it was only a rumor. It isn't. emoticon About 3 or 4 weeks ago I had this sudden change and now I have the hormones of a teenager and have been doing the 'married couple' workout about 5 or 6 days a week! I don't think you can log that as exercise... but it really kinda is emoticon There's all kinds of cardio and all the isometric work emoticon but I do need to get back to a regular routine.

I got a couple of pieces of new workout clothes; a black and white Calvin Klein top with a shelf bra and a really good quality white Under Armour sports bra. I got them at TJ Maxx, so I didn't need to take out a loan or anything emoticon Yes, I need BOTH when rebounding! But who on the planet wants a white sports bra? Nobody! That's why it was on clearance sale... and I figure that's what dye is for! My new white sports bra is now a GORGEOUS violet, and I intend to take them out on a test drive this morning on the trampoline. I don't know how long I will last (I'm out of practice!) but it seems like a good way to start the morning!

Things are definitely starting to look up for me, and I'm really thankful to have all the support you've shown me. I don't know if I could have pulled myself out of the funk without help emoticon Have a super day!

Time well spent yesterday emoticon emoticon !!!

I'm definitely going to check out that rice method!!! You know what goes great with rice? Veggies!!!! emoticon

Keep up the great work! I challenge you to 2 days in a row of healthy food choices! Don't forget to win the battle at the grocery store! emoticon Take pictures of your shopping cart & add them to your posts! (I used to do that & text to my buddy who started this journey with me.). We need to be proud & celebrate every time we win a battle! Right now I'm celebrating 7 days in a row of morning exercise!

Mary, it's so awesome to have a consistent Spark friend that I can count on when I need support! And I think you're right. Yesterday, on my day off, I spent a good part of the day prepping some good healthy food that I like. It takes forever to make, and clean up, but after you do it it's a very quick grab and go for nutrient packed, tasty food. I made a pureed soup (roasted carrot and caramelized onion with tons of spices and beef stock) and some rice with the new method. Apparently some scientists were bored and were thinking it would be awesome if rice wasn't so high in quick carbs and calories, so they decided to do something about it. They figured out that by adding a tspn of coconut oil to rice on a slow simmer for 40 minutes then refrigerate for no less than 12 hours it would chemically convert the rice and slash the carbs and calories by about a third. Seriously, look this up! All the science magazines did stories on this! Once it's converted, it can't be reversed, so you can reheat the rice with no problems. If you like rice, you have to google this!

Anyway, I brought some of the carrot soup and rice and a Tracy shake with 1% milk (I just can't get in to skim!) and have done very well with my nutrition today. Thanks so much for your support! emoticon I hope you're having a great day too!

Pam you're not crazy...you're just not pampering yourself from the inside so your body keeps craving more food...you're feeding yourself empty calories instead of superfoods packed with nutrition...that's exactly what I used to do...feed myself a cheesy bowl of pasta with no veggies & be starving 20 minutes later...

Try to take healthier options to work to munch on at your desk...maybe make yourself tuna or chicken salad or hummus & take carrots/celery/cucumber slices for dipping...tangerines, apples, grapes instead of sweets...a few nuts along with fruit can make it more filling...6 almonds = 42 calories,
8 pistachios = 34 calories...it's o.k. to snack often just arm yourself with healthy snacks instead of junk...

Now I must confess that I'm on my B game right now...on A game I eat whole foods prepared by me...lately I've been eating a frozen Healthy Choice at lunch almost every day...I pick ones without pasta & I add 3 servings of frozen veggies (today mixed peppers, mushrooms & Brussels sprouts) & mix it all together...not delicious but easy, edible (if I add some of my seasoning) & filling & helps me get my veggies in...I hope to find my A game soon but this is working to give me more free time to increase exercise & get the scale moving the right way!

Pam - getting started is the hardest part! If you can find the strength to string a few good nutrition days together I think you'll feel better & your outlook will totally change! As always - much easier said than done! But you know you have strength! My goodness you quit gluten cold turkey!!!! Only a very strong person can do that!

Marki...what great news that your doggie will get certificate soon! Yikes! Very hot there! 76 here today...was in the 30s Sunday morning...seems like we're going straight from winter to summer!

Have a great evening!

Mary

Mary, great job on your 10 minute Tracy arm challenge! Any non-Tracy person would not understand how hard just 10 minutes of Tracy's material can be. And I'm not familiar with your other challenge but it sounds like you're rocking it! Also, way to go on your veggies and water emoticon

Marki, I'm glad you're at peace with your move! Second guessing yourself can be brutal, but it sounds like that weather can be too! emoticon And it really sounds like you're starting to get back to your old self with all that working out. I've never tried juicing... I chose a Vitamix over a juicer (because I could only afford one) but I really get a lot of good use out of it. I would love to try juicing and see what it's like, though!

Actually I found out a year or two ago that I'm gluten intolerant, so no wheat for me most of the time! They get SOOOOO mad at me at work because I refuse to eat pizza or sub sandwiches or whatever; although if you get a big sub sandwich platter with lots of toppings I discovered I could make a really good salad out of a big pile of lettuce, tomato, and meat and cheese from a sandwich (and I have a bottle of salad dressing at work.) Before the diagnosis I'd heard about going gluten free... and if I knew ANYTHING I knew I'd NEVER do that! But when the diagnosis came down I did, of course. The first week was one of the worst weeks of my life! I'd been having pasta EVERY SINGLE DAY for dinner for years and I had to cut out that plus all other gluten cold turkey. The withdrawals were so bad that I barely made it, but I found out that my joints don't have to be swollen all the time. I just thought that's the way it was because my mother had 'arthritis' beginning in her late 20's or early 30's and I now believe that she was just gluten intolerant too. But you can't tell her anything because she already knows it all! Now that my joints are under control, though I shouldn't, sometimes I have a little cheat; but I don't go crazy with gluten because I physically can't.

I tried pushing the panic button when I was in the midst of one of these horrible 'appetite attacks' and a couple of people responded. One was really rude about 'go do something else, duh!" When I'm at work I can't go for a walk, take a bath, or paint my nails! when the phone rings or some jacka$$ walks in the door (because, guess what, where THEY work they get to leave for lunch so they show up at our office rather than leaving us the HELL ALONE FOR TWO MINUTES!!! And on our '15 minute lunch' we can't even walk outside because we're on call and GODDESS FORBID that we would be allowed to put the phone on the answering machine for a few minutes like every other place in the westernized world does... But I can eat at my desk! All you want! And it's mostly crap! I think it's mainly stress and misery, and sometimes even to cure boredom or entertain myself. What I do know is that I'm addicted, hard core, and my rational thinking doesn't seem to be doing a very good job at overcoming addiction. I NEED HELP!!! Am I just crazy?

Happy Monday!

I LOVE Mondays! I know most people hate them, but I feel like it's the first day of a clean slate. And the week has so much potential on a Monday. emoticon

Great job kicking things back into gear Mary! emoticon Thanks for the A game reminder too. I'm doing so much better thanks to that tip too. Did I miss your new exciting news?

Paleo is definitely wheat free. Pam, I think you try to stay gluten free already don't you? I thought that was one of your food allergy test results.

We had record temps in the 90s all weekend, and more hot record high days ahead this week. Our normal March temps are in the 70's. So, I feel like God has sent me the reassurance I needed to help me move forward without any regrets. If this is March, I'm glad I won't be around to experience this year's hot season. emoticon

We had a party on Friday with most of our favorite neighbors. It was so much fun. And I took our dog to Canine Good Citizenship training class on Sunday. Turns out, I'll be able to get his certificate renewed before we move, which will really help.

Started this morning with a walk before sunrise, Did some rebounding, and Tracy's PPAbs. I might try to squeeze in some Mat Workout Arms later. But we'll see how it goes. I juiced this morning. Lot count of how many servings of veggies. But I guess I should have eaten some for the fiber too. Oh well. Maybe later.

Have a great week everyone!

10 minutes of TA arms yesterday was a killer...it was a youtube vid where someone had edited a Hamptons workout and added lots more reps...ouch!...I had to hit pause multiple times to shake my arms out!

Today 10 minutes of abs...tough but not like those arms!

8 servings of fruits and veggies so far and 6 cups of water...and 45 minutes of my Springahead challenge...so 4x10 almost complete...

Have a great Sunday!

Hey Pam...you really got me thinking about what my issues are! The answer is yes, for years I would snack mindlessly on junk...habit/boredom/lack of willpower/enjoyed the taste!...my son is a picky eater and a main staple of his diet has always been pasta...well back when I worked from home there was leftover pasta almost always in the fridge and multiple times a day I would fill a bowl, pile on some parmesan and microwave myself a very high calorie snack that did nothing but make me want to eat more of that yumminess 20 minutes later! When I decided to get healthy and started tracking my food I saw that I was sometimes getting 1000 calories a day just from those pasta snacks!

I suggested to you last week that you try to remember what you ate when you were on your "A" game...well this week I practiced what I preached and remembered that on my "A" game I avoided wheat completely!...it has already made a huge difference - no goldfish for the past 5 days!!! emoticon emoticon and I'm down 2.5 pounds from my weight on Tuesday! Wheat is my trigger that makes me want to keep eating, when I avoid wheat I find it so much easier to make good choices...I don't eat a lot of other grains either...today I will have a little oatmeal (1/4 cup dry) with berries at breakfast and a little rice with my late lunch...I get plenty of carbs from fruit and veggies...another key from me is being sure I get 30 grams of fiber daily (without using supplements)...and I've gone back to my cardio key to success when I was on my "A" game and that is walking! Gotta put the miles on my sneakers again...we've had tons of rain lately but from now on I either walk in the rain or I pace around my den while watching tv at night...gonna sneak 10 minutes in whenever I can!...those minutes add up! When I pace back & forth in my den I count every 10 minutes as 1/2 mile of walking on my fitness tracker.

Have you ever attempted to give up wheat? It might not be easy but if you can do it it makes so many tempting things "off limits", goldfish, pasta, cupcakes, egg rolls...I thought I could handle a little wheat and maintain but I guess I've learned another reality about myself...if I'm going to get back to and stay at my goal weight I need to avoid my wheat demon! emoticon

Marki - Paleo is completely wheat free isn't it?

Hope you're both having a great weekend!

Nice and sunny here...I jogged/walked 3.5 miles before work! Second morning in a row I've gotten significant exercise before work...I'm on a roll! emoticon Let's see if I can make it 5 in a row!

emoticon

Mary

I got my new Tracy dvd and did the 10 minute butt section this morning. I needed something to give me a bit of motivation to get started back on my routine! I've been trying to set my alarm a few minutes earlier every so often because Rihanna the snooze button and I have still be been fighting! The time change where you have to get up earlier has been kicking my patootie! Yesterday was a ridiculous food day. A rep brought chinese food which I ate for lunch and dinner (no, the portions were not small!) but today I WILL do better. I've already started out better with an itsy bitsy workout (but I did have that last egg roll for breakfast this morning.) emoticon

Mary, hopefully you'll get a chance to tell us your news this weekend; we can't wait to hear it! I know what you mean about the food thing. I've been eating way too much lately and need to cut back. It's an appetite issue with me... even if I'm not hungry I REALLY WANT TO EAT MORE FOOD!!! And I can't think about anything else until I do. But that, of course, doesn't help! Is that your issue too, Mary?

Marki, it's good to hear that you're doing better with your outlook. It seems that's often the key that can unlock all the other changes we need to make but have such a hard time with! And maybe a little less stress will do wonders for you. I can't wait to hear your success story that has just been waiting to come out! emoticon And I'm SO, SO very jealous that you'll get to spend time with Tracy on the reals! I wish I could do that! And congrats on the veggies and H2O (always important!)

I know we've been having a hard time lately, but let's start turning this whole thing around! I know I've not been a shining example of success lately, but WE CAN DO THIS!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hey ladies! emoticon

Quick fly-by! I'm at work and should be working but I just took a few minutes to log my food plan for today and thought I'd stop by and say "Hi"!

Marki so glad you and hubby are better and have a plan! Pam - keep fighting that demon! Look forward to hearing about the new DVD!

I either need to start walking alot more or eating alot less if I'm going to get that scale going the right way!

Have met the 4x10 challenge for 3 days straight after my slacker weekend but weight has gone up due to eating too much...going to try to drop calories to 1200 for a couple of days...we'll see how that goes! Then up the walking this weekend when I have a little more time.

Have a wonderful day!!! emoticon

Happy Tuesday Ladies! emoticon And I'm VERY happy to report that it IS a happy day. Things are back to normal around here. What's that saying about worrying only robs today of it's joy???? Something like that, so we're back to taking things one day at a time and we've stopped looking for homes in CA until our buyers loan contingency expires. It was only making things worse, because the few good things that we saw, we couldn't do anything about because we can't sign a lease and then have the house fall out. So, we're just going to wait and once we get the go ahead we're going to kick it into high gear and get it done. On the bright side, my husband reminded me that I will be living close enough to actually do a Tracy weekend at her Brentwood studio. So, there will be LOTS of new adventures ahead of us.

So Mary, BIG exciting GOOD changes are coming your way????? Do tell! emoticon
And I'm SO glad that I'm not the only one that wants that wishes Jessica would just teach Peanut some manners. emoticon I love YouTube for checking out new workouts and giving them a try once or twice, but I'd much rather own my own real copy of all of my favorites and be able to stop, fast forward, and rewind, with ease. Plus it makes me feel better to see them sitting on the shelf. It's like they're calling to me to workout.

So, I definitely will checkout Tracy's newest DVD. 10 minute stacks sounds perfect right now.
I got my veggies in double green smoothie day breakfast and lunch. Rebounding, Mat workout for beginners, and I'm at 9 glasses of water. So one more and I'm golden. emoticon

Well, hope you both get a great night's sleep. Tomorrow is another new day. emoticon

Oh no Mary, I hope you're okay! Change is a huge stressor for our bodies; let us know what's going on when you're ready and have time! I'm sorry you missed your veggies this weekend but you usually do really well with them and I'm confident you'll get right back on track with them! How have you been doing with your exercising lately? Not this weekend, but as a trend? If you're doing well I've read that a couple of days off can allow your muscles to fully heal and you'll come back even stronger than before. It's good advice to try to remember what I was eating when I was having all my success... but it's a little murky in my mind because when I got so sick and was on heavy duty meds it really affected my memory. I'll try to find my way back, with the help of my team, though! Yesterday I did really awesome with H2O because I hadn't had my passion flower tea in forever and I drank about 6 cups of it at work. I definitely can get sick of it, though, so I have to keep changing it up to keep my fluid intake where it needs to be.

Marki, I'm so sorry that you've got an uber-stress going, but like you said, you're almost finished; and I'll bet that this difficult time makes the two of you even stronger as a couple! And such a smart girl to take your stress to your workout! I hope it helped. Also, thanks for the understanding about the sugar, tootsie. In my '3D' world I'm so afraid to mention it to people because I had this really bad, very traumatic experience in which an old man shamed me (loudly and in public) about the poor moral character that would have to be present in any person for them to become addicted to ANYTHING. I tried to defend myself by saying it was more common than he was giving it credit for but he was confident that NOTHING had EVER gotten the best of him! What can I say, he's a better man than I'll ever be. emoticon Anywhoo... I've done the hiding and sneaking and replacing thing because I was too humiliated to let the love of my life (even though he is very understanding) know that I had relapsed AGAIN! We'll fight together though! emoticon

On my other addiction... I caved and ordered Tracy's new DVD, so I should have it Friday. I know I spend too much money on workout DVD's, but they do help me. Is anyone buying that excuse yet? HELLO? ECHO? I know, I'm lame! emoticon I also ordered the violet dye for my new sports bra. You have to have special dye for that type of fabric, so I hope it turns out well. If not... I can dye it black! Or heather gray! Or anything but white!

It was great catching up but I have to get in the shower so I can start getting ready to go to hell. WORK! I MEANT WORK! emoticon Have a great day, porn stars!

Hello girls! emoticon

Haha! You girls really are addicted to those dvds! I might be too if I wasn't so cheap! I hate to spend money on dvd's when there's so much free stuff out there on youtube!

Pam - sugar addiction is very real! Hope you are able to channel the old you who conquered the demon soon! Maybe try to remember what you were eating when you were so successful at weight loss and go back to that? I know that is over simplifying and that is much easier said than done. But it will click for you soon I just know it! emoticon emoticon

Marki - emoticon news about the inspection! But what stress! emoticon I hope y'all find just the right place soon so the stress eases! I agree with you about Jessica's little dog...I'm sorry but dogs and small children need to learn early on that no means no!...when that dog continues to chew on her yoga mat even though she repeatedly says stop it drives me nuts! I do like her workouts - but every time I do a new one I'm always hoping it's one where Peanut doesn't make an appearance!

I fell off the veggie & exercise train over the weekend emoticon but I managed to lose a pound because I put lots of extra time in at work and didn't have much time to eat! Lots of veggies so far today and I WILL exercise tonight!

I'm under some stress as well...a very big change, very good change is coming for us also...I fill you in later...need to get back to work right now!

Have a wonderful day!

Mary

Pam, you aren't alone. Whether we realize it or not, all of us our addicted to sugar. Some of us, can manage it better than others, but studies have shown that sugar is AS addictive as heroine and it triggers the same pleasure sensors in our brain. It's only when we try to give it up, that we realize the extent of our addiction.

I've lost count of how many Whole30's I've done now, and giving up all sweeteners is the hardest part of the 30 days, but by the end of the 30 days, being sugar free feels amazing!!! But adding "just a little" back in, is the mistake I make every time. There have been days that I have to throw out whatever sweet treat is in the house or I'd never stop eating it, and I the cravings have been so bad that on some days, I've driven to the store to BUY more of whatever it was I threw out. emoticon Luckily, since doing my first W30 I haven't had to do that, but I did eat an entire bag of Oreos and go to the store to replace it, so that my husband wouldn't see that I had eaten the entire bag of Oreos. emoticon Now the rule is no store bought processed crap in our house. Because for whatever reason, store bought sweets like Oreos are much more addictive than homemade paleo cookies. So, ummm. I guess that was a very long way of posting that I'm in this battle with you. emoticon emoticon And another battle we share is our DVD addiction. You typed new Tracy and my mind immediately jumped to the questions of when does it come out and can I buy it on Amazon??? emoticon

Mary hope you had a great day too!

We're in the final stretch, counting down the days and the stress levels are high. My veggie streak came to an end yesterday, as I spent most of my evening crying tears of frustration because I just couldn't talk to my husband. I had the perfect dinner planned, but I just didn't feel hungry, and by the time he was being more communicative and expressing that he was hungry, I didn't care. Hopefully today is better. Normally we tackle everything as a team, and this uncertainty of where we're going to live, with our dog, and the difficulty of finding a rental that meets what he feels our needs our and what I feel our needs our, in our agreed budget, and that takes dogs, is just really taking a toll on both of us.

Ok off to burn some calories and hopefully release some feel good endorphins. Wish me luck. I need it.

Marki

First of all, Mary, that is a great word... DEMON! I am hard- core addicted to sugar. I know it sounds ridiculous, but my experience sounds like the people on TV who talk about heroine or cocaine or whatever. They can put it down for a month, a year, a decade... and it's just lying in wait to get them the minute they're weak! I'm very sorry you have a hard struggle with salty, but I'm glad we have the 3 of us who can be there for each other. That is really hard to find in my '3D' world! And I think you're totally right with your son; it sounds like you're navigating it well!

Marki, congrats on your house! It'll be good to get the log term stress of house selling off your back. Water can be hard for me some days too so I got a big mug at TJ Maxx yesterday with a motivational quote; I'm taking it to work to start back adding in my Tazo passion flower tea so I can get more liquid in painlessly. It says 'Don't just follow your dreams, chase them' and I'm hoping it might help remind me during the day when my addiction is trying to overtake me.

I know there is a sugar addiction team on Spark which I tried a couple of years ago. I know anything I could say will make me sound like the bad guy, so just try to understand that I'm not trying to be. The leader's adult son died. And that's all she would talk about. Nothing. Else. If anyone tried to discuss anything else she'd just shut them up with some version of 'you think you're problems are bad...my kid's dead!' and end it. I was patient and waited for MONTHS. But no dice. So you guys are all I have to talk about this!

Also at TJ Maxx I got a new sports bra. Since I'm heavier (AGAIN!) I have D's and on a trampoline I need a sports bra that can take a punch, especially with roubounding! This one is Under Armour and feels sturdy and supportive. It was on clearance sale for $20 and they only had one in my size, but hopefully I'll need a smaller one again soon. My sports bra was shot and I needed a new one. The only problem is it's white so I need to figure out if there is some way to dye it without trashing my washing machine and all my other clothes! I decided to get Tracy's new low level DVD coming out Friday (yes, another one!) that is called Method Express. Apparently Wal-Mart will carry this one but not Target. It is 6 10 minute workouts that you can do one or stack however you like. I figure that plus a wee little bit of trampoline (because that's all I can do right now) can get me starting to work back up.

Have a great week team!

Pam I'm sending you a big emoticon I definitely would rather you post whatever you're feeling. How can anyone really appreciate victories if there's no understanding of the struggle. And if the struggle is frequent, long, and hard, then when the victory arrives it is even more sweet for everyone that has been on the journey together. emoticon

Mary, Jessica may be slightly less annoying than Jillian, notice I wrote slightly, because I find her little dog distracting, and that annoys me emoticon but her workouts are tough too, so I'm still definitely impressed by all that you've been doing and then adding on some Tracy arms. emoticon

So, quick house update, our inspection came back and the only thing that was wrong was two minor water heater issues. Something with a hose and another with an isolation hose. Both should cost less than $200 to have a real plumber come out and fix and that's just because real plumbers cost $150 to make a house call. So now, I'm happy and terrified at the same time. Escrow will close on the 22n'd of April. emoticon

I've been hitting the smoothies hard the last few days, and the super salads from Costco. Plus I bought Pink Lady apples and strawberries. So, my streak continues. Water's good, peeing is getting a little better. I'm cutting off the water by 7:30 so that helps. Walking the dog the last two days is bonus "cardio" for me. Got my dancing shoes on. Mary, I'm going to have to find the link to some Tracy beginner dance for you. I LOVE that one and it's on YouTube. Not so Lord of the Dance. PP Abs again today.

Ok Hubby just got home from an ALL DAY CA trip turn around and I have dinner waiting for him. Check in with you both tomorrow. Have a great weekend.

Marki

Hey Pam! emoticon

I'm posting with my phone so this won't be very long! You do not need to feel bad about being honest! We want you to keep posting!

I just wish I had the answer to beating your sugar demon emoticon ...for me it was & is a salty snack demon & my battlefield was the grocery store...if you are buying sweets for yourself maybe you can chant a battle cry before you enter the store! My problem now is my son requested goldfish for a snack in his school lunch bag...I really wanted to say no because even the whole grain ones are so processed & have very little nutrition when compared to the organic blue corn quinoa chips I was packing! But I feed him freakishly healthy food for the most part & as a parent I pick my battles & decided not to fight this one. But now I grab that goldfish box several times a day & pour myself a fistful & that is probably a major contributor to the weight I've gained lately! So there's my confession...I need to start facing down those goldfish & you need to start facing down that sugar! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Sorry about your back...I did the same thing a couple of weeks ago...happens on occasion...the first & worst one I remember was when I was in my 20s

Marki - hope you're having a great weekend!

Wow I managed a long post with my phone - but it took quite a while

Nite-nite emoticon

Hey guys! Green smoothies! What a great idea for St. Patties; I wish I would have thought of that because that's so fun and festive. I did try a pre-made corned beef and cabbage from one of the grocery store deli's because I'd never had it before' but I didn't like it. Maybe it was just the way it was prepared? My mother's father was 100% Irish (as in came over to the US on a boat) but was orphaned young so there was nobody to pass down the traditions because he didn't grow up with them himself. Maybe you guys have some awesome Irish recipes?

I've had a lot of failures on the sugar free challenge, but have done well adding extra veggies and have been making a big pan of roasted carrots almost every day for one meal. I add some olive oil, garlic, dill, ginger, lemongrass, and chili paste and roast them on a pretty low heat until they're soft. I need to regroup and do better with the sugar, though.

I set a goal to do 15 minutes of trampoline today but only made it for 10. I felt I really needed the lymph drainage that the rebounding provides, but that I wouldn't be able to go for too long because I pulled my back a couple of days ago. I wish I could tell you guys it was from doing something really awesome like from a hard workout or, I don't know, rescuing a family from a burning building without stretching first, but it was not. I actually pulled my back by BENDING THE WRONG WAY! Dude! I turn 38 next month not 78!

So, I'm going to get totally honest with why I haven't been on much lately, and I want you guys to be completely honest with me. I don't know if it's ethical to jump on the board and tell you guys when I'm struggling for long periods of time. Nobody likes a Debbie Downer and if it's better that I stay away when I'm going through more failures than successes, then I will respect that. IF you guys would rather I jump on the board and share the bad and the ugly along with the good, I'll do that. However, I don't want to get on here and lie; that just wastes everyone's time. And I don't think it's more honest to tell a 'partial truth' and not tell you where I'm failing but only the successes. Here in lies my dilemma... should I check in or stay away until I have better things to say? Just tell me what you'd prefer, and I'll do that.

Have a great weekend, team!

Good morning and Happy Friday! This is a big day for you Marki - right? Hope everything with the sale is going smoothly!

I'm not doing Jillian, I'm doing Jessica Smith - much less intense! - although the 5 workouts I've done so far have challenged me (but not like Jillian or Tracy) - the nice thing about this challenge is the workout changes every day - so far I've enjoyed all of them - most have been cardio/strength combo workout - today was strength only but it still make me sweat! I get bored doing the same thing for 7 or 10 days - ADD I guess!

Completed the 4 x 10 again yesterday! Tracy arms again - I'll probably alternate between arms and standing abs for a while - but I might try 10 minutes of "Riverdance" one day if I can find it one Youtube!

I hate it when the computer eats a post - if I spend more than a few minutes on a post I try to copy what I've typed every few minutes - that way if I lose the post I don't lose everything.

Pam please check in and let us know how you're doing! We miss you! emoticon

Have a great day!

Mary

Ughh! emoticon Ok we updated our computer's operating system and I love how much faster it is, but I can't get used to all the new stuff. I had a long reply typed out and the poof hit the wrong button and it was replaced with a new empty box.

So now I'm not feeling so chatty anymore. emoticon

Great job Mary! Especially on taking the time to weigh everything! That's such a smart thing to do, because we all know a banana is not a banana, right?

Day 3, was much harder on all fronts, but if I count walking the dog as fun cardio then it was a success emoticon Just got my last glass of water in about 30 minutes ago, so I'm a little worried I might not sleep through the night. Veggie packed smoothie breakfast, salad and chili for lunch, threw extra roasted garlic cloves in my chili bowl, and super salad with some flank steak for dinner. 10 minutes of Tracy arms emoticon
Mary, I have no clue how you made it through the arms series after doing all that Jillian. Yikes. emoticon
Pam, I hope you're feeling better, don't forget you have your person cheering section here any time you need it. emoticon

Good morning ladies!

I had a successful Wednesday! 1200grams of fruits and veggies (I'm a food weigher and count 100 grams as a serving), 12 glasses of water, 30 minute weight loss cardio sculpt video, 10 minutes of Tracy standing abs I found on Vimeo, 1.2 mile doggie walk and 30 minutes of yoga before bedtime!

emoticon emoticon emoticon

Beautiful gentle rain here today emoticon I wish some of rain would fall on the west coast as well...drought situation is quite scary...

Have a wonderful day!

Oh my goodness I am sore! Pretty sure it's because I'm out of shape not because the workouts I'm doing are super strenuous. emoticon I joined a 4 week Springahead challenge that some girls on the JSTV team were doing...I joined that team last year but have never been active there but when I promised Pam on Monday that I would exercise Monday night I went looking for something that would be new and different and luckily the team leader had just posted the new challenge! All 3 days so far were a combination of strength and cardio and my legs and arms are feeling it! Plus I did 10 minutes of Tracy arms late night...I was almost in tears during the last 2 minutes emoticon even though the workout used no weights! I have a long way to go just to get back to where I was last year (I don't even want to talk about my shaky attempts to do side planks this morning - yikes!)

The important thing is that I'm finally putting some effort back into my fitness. I already feel so much better!

Accomplished the 4x10 yesterday...20min JSTV belly fat blasting video & 10min JSTV toning walk, 10 min Tracy arms, 18 minute doggie walk, big green smoothie, artichoke, curry with peas, carrots, eggplant...big romaine, cucumber and tomato salad with chicken,
tons of water...

Yummm...your smoothie sounds great too Marki...I'll have to try it when I've worked my way through the big bag of grapefruit in my kitchen...

Pam - Keep up the good work staying away from sugar!

Have a great Wednesday!

Happy Wednesday!

Mary emoticon for joining me! Your smoothie sounded yummy!

So, today is day 2 of my 4 x10 streak. emoticon I had a green smoothie for breakfast yesterday too! 4 cups of spinach, coconut milk 1 cup blue berries, 1/2 cup mango. Lunch was a super salad from costco with homemade dressing, and dinner was veggie lasagna with zoodle noodles. so I'm pretty sure I got in all my veggies. My 10 cups of water turned into 30 trips to the restroom emoticon Hope my body adjusts soon. 10 min of rebounding for fun fitness and 10 min of Tracy's PP Abs. turned into 25 emoticon

Pam, great job going sugar free! Stay strong! You've got this! Are you going to join the 4 x 10 streaking challenge? FYI for the veggie thing on days when veggies are tough to fit in, individual veggies/fruit pieces ( 10 carrots 10 strawberries) can count for mental success as long as it's not the go to plan. emoticon

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

I celebrated with a giant green smoothie this morning - emoticon - think I got my 10 servings of fruits & veggies in that one drink! Seriously just the grapefruit I put in it weighed almost a pound! & there was frozen spinach, broccoli and an orange...it probably doesn't sound very good but I love grapefruit and the grapefruit overpowers everything else!

Marki - HOW EXCITING! Everything happening so fast! Lots to think about for sure...hope you get some better sleep tonight! I'll take on your 4 x 10 challenge...I don't have a dvd player at home since son high-jacked my laptop so I'll have to use youtube for the Tracy...

Pam - VERY smart girl getting those cupcakes out of your life! Naming your snooze button - HAHA! Time change is rough in the morning but I do love having some daylight left after work! You're also smart tackling the food before adding the fitness...when you are ready for exercise start with short - 10 minutes like Marki! - workouts...I know you like to dive into the deep end (Tracy) and do hours but your body will be more pampered if you start in the baby pool or maybe the hot tub! Maybe start with 10 minutes of easy standing yoga poses that keep both feet on the ground - or some easy walking videos...here's a link to a 10 minute toning walk I did today www.jessicasmithtv.com/video_posts/1

I think you're right Mary... I've been feeling isolated with the particular medical issues that I've been dealing with... but everyone has something, even if it's not the same thing, that throws them for a loop. Gr eat catch! And maybe we can think of the bad habits 'sneaking' in a funny way rather than a temptation that's practically torture!

Marki, it's good to see you! Once again, you've got better mental framing than I tend to... like 'party' rather than 'work'. And you're right, don't let anyone take your Akita because she's family and they can deal with it or you can move somewhere else. You're not leaving a home you love to be with SOME of your family!

I know it happened 9 days ago, but the time change is still TOTALLY kicking my butt. We named the snooze button Rihanna because I just can't stop slapping it over and over again. WE thought it was funny...

Yesterday was my first day back of no processed sugar. Day number two is upon me... I encouraged my fellow employees to take the mini cakes home so they won't be staring me in the face all day! But I won that battle. There are 5 employees and 4 mini cupcakes so I suggested everyone take one but me and encouraged the 2 who hadn't eaten theirs by the end of the day to take it home. AIN'T I SO SMART! emoticon

I'm getting my diet back under control before I even TRY to get back to working out... I'M SORRY I MEANT HAVING A PAMPERING PARTY!!! I hope you all have a great day. Someone send me some encouragement today if you have time, pretty please. emoticon

Good morning ladies! Did someone say pie? How did I miss a pi holiday? Just as well, if I had known I would have eaten one of every flavor. emoticon
Looks like I've missed a lot again. So sorry. Where are you both on your healthy streaks? I agree with you both. I think we need to get back to that basic commitment to ourselves. We know if we commit to 10 minutes of something it will feel great and get the party started again.

So as luck would have it, while we were in CA staying in Huntington Beach which is full of AT & T deadzones, including my sister's house we had to negotiate the sale of our house, which made it even more stressful. We had the inspection but haven't gotten the report back and tomorrow is the appraisal. The buyers have until Friday to change their minds. So by this time Saturday morning it will feel more real. I guess then the real stress kicks in finding a place to live in CA that I like, can afford, and that will take my Akita. We've never rented before and had no idea that there were breed restrictions that list Akitas and if they don't have that then they have size restrictions or weight restrictions My dog is my baby. So.............

Couldn't sleep last night thinking about all the unknown. But today is a new day one. So I'm going to start a 10 min fun fitness/pampering streak. 10 cups of water streak and 10 mins if torture oops I meant Tracy. & 10 cups/servings of veggies/fruit. We can do this!

Well said Pam! It doesn't click for me either when I'm feeling down...& I think we would find 99% of sparkpeople have the same issue...bad habits sneak back into our lives so quickly...might be illness, injury, weather, hardships...so many things can zap our resolve...so we have to fight back to be what we know we can be!

Much better day for me today! 30 min total body video that really challenged me & 30 min walking....lots of veggies too!

Mary, that is such a great word! 'Pampering' is a better thought framework than 'diet and exercise' invokes in my mind. Btw, my husband suggested cherry pie for Pi day... but we rethought it because neither of us really were craving pie. That was just luck that we didn't indulge in that little 'celebration' too... even though I have no reason to celebrate math! I've never been good at math so I shouldn't be celebrating a math holiday. But I was close to doing it anyway. And you're right that we feel better when we eat more cleanly and exercise our bodies; I don't know why it doesn't click when I get feeling down. It was REALLY good to be reminded of that today. I appreciate it! I decided to start today with cutting out processed sugar again and have been desperately craving crap in any form. My mind has been screaming "Hey Pam, don't you want Candy! Or Cake! Or Anything with Sugar!" and reading your encouraging words has helped me say no so far today. Thanks oodles for the sweet words, and you know you're right, we are worth it!

Hey Pam! emoticon

I'm having a hard time right now myself...no excuses...I'm just not exercising and my reality is if I don't exercise I gain weight...I like to eat! emoticon so I need to burn extra calories or I will end up with a daily calorie surplus and that equals weight gain...like you said - intellectually I understand that but I've gone 4 or 5 days now with little or no exercise...and I made a banana cream pie on Saturday to celebrate Pi day! What was I thinking?????

Right now I'm hanging in there at 5-7 above goal weight...but it's enough that I can't wear some of my clothes (now that the weather is warmer and I can't wear a long sweater to cover the tightness emoticon ) Ugggh...every little bit that I gain means more work to get back to my goal...

Let's do this!!!! It's hard work and it's not fun but we are worth it! By eating well and exercising we are pampering our bodies and we will feel so much better!

I promise to exercise after work today and to get up and exercise BEFORE work tomorrow!

Good morning team! I haven't been to visit for awhile because it takes up a whole lot of your time feeling sorry for yourself! The tumor in my face wasn't my fault. Neither was the flu. Or the fact that I'll remain immune suppressed until late fall due to the heavy drugs and body trauma, etc. But I can't say it's not my fault that I chose to give up rather than keep going. Obviously I'm trying to pull out of it, or I wouldn't be here, reaching out to my team. I know you have to play the hand your dealt... intellectually I know that but I can't seem to stop feeling sorry for myself with having to restart over and over, and being sad because the surgery sucked up all the money (but I just scraped together the LAST payment for the surgeon, so once we recover from that we'll be back close to normal in that department. I finally moved my ticker and re-measured and did my body fat on my scale; I had to get to the point of truth before I can move forward. I'm trying to get it together again! I hope I can pull myself out of this funk and be one of those people that you have to admire because nothing can bring them down. I hope I can pull myself together.

Flu! Oh no...yuck! So sorry Pam! At least you and hubby were able to tag team and take care of each other!

I didn't have the flu but had a string of bad attitude days where I didn't exercise and saw the scale creep up 3 pounds...on Wednesday I reality checked myself - if I don't exercise I gain weight - that's just the way it is - exercise is not optional for me if I want to maintain - much less lose those last few pounds and get back to goal weight! I have exercised before work for 3 days now and the scale is starting to go the right way...

Pam - sometimes with my veggie soups when I make big batches I leave out not only the protein but also most of the seasoning and add those to small batches when I reheat or pull out of the freezer...that way if I'm feeling like chicken curry I add chicken and curry spices...if I'm feeling Southwest I might add some beef and chilis...etc....

Marki it would be tough being apart 2 weeks every month...although 1 week every couple of months might be nice! emoticon

Have a great weekend ladies!

Mary

Oh no Pam. The flu sucks. I'm so glad you're better. I'm sure you'll get those 4 pounds off asap.

Moving will be tough because I LOVE my house, our lot, our neighborhood and our neighbors. BUT not as much as I love my husband. The last two 1/2 years my husband has to spend over half the month living out of a suitcase In CA for work and the dog and I are home alone. So I'd rather give up the house and move so we can be together.

Ok. Ladies tomorrow is a new day one. Again. Lol.

Good morning team! It's one of those nights where I wake up waaaay too early (4 am today!) but at least that gives me a little more free time this morning. To catch you guys up... my husband got the flu, then I caught it. I guess the silver lining is that when he was sick I could get everything done and by the time I came down with it he could do the same. But that also means that my awesome workout streak got trashed. I intend to start again this morning, so wish me luck! I'm up 4 pounds but have refused to move my ticker just yet. I found a pretty good soup recipe while sick, though! It's a GOOP 'cleanse' soup (but I've never done a cleanse!) It's called Roasted and Clean Carrot Soup. The first time I made it I had to add low fat sour cream to make it edible because it was just too bland! Then I decided to season it more with herbs and spices just like I would any other soup and it was pretty good! I no longer needed the sour cream (but nothing tastes bad with it added either!) and I've been using it for a base and just throwing in whatever protein I have on hand. It turned out to be very versatile, and healthy too! It makes getting more veggies in easier.

Marki, I'm happy to hear that you're having better luck with your new realtor. It sounds like selling a house is very time consuming and a hassle. I took your virtual tour and your house looks gorgeous and big... why did you want to move again?

Mary, it sounds to me like you made the best decision you could. Your word is a powerful thing unless you make a habit of not keeping it; I bet the other coach respects the fact that you follow through with your commitments because I'm sure he appreciates the same courtesy being shown to him. Unfortunately your son can't be in two places at once and therefore someone is going to be disappointed, but you're right about it being a 'good' problem!

Have a great week team, and hopefully our stresses will abate now!

Hey ladies! I'm SOOOOOOOOO sorry that I've been MIA again emoticon But this is the last time. I pinky swear. I'm going to send each of you a Spark mail with my cell phone number so you can text me whenever you need support, or call if you need to vent BUT no pressure to do either. I just hate that my computer time is limited and until I spring for new cell phone I can't spark from my phone like I used to do.

So here's the scoop. My house goes back on the market tomorrow. I'm both happy and sad that my new realtor is SO MUCH better than my old realtor. We've had 3 showing already and my house wasn't even on the market yet. I'll put the link to my virtual tour in the SP message so that you both can see all the hours of painting I've done to make my house look fresh and clean.

Pam, I ordered that book and it arrived. So now I can follow along with you. So far I haven't had time to open it yet. But I love owning it.

Mary you absolutely did the right thing with your son's team. . A commitment is a promise and you're only as good as your word, right? I hope that coach sends you a message to make you feel better, because it would have been so wrong for you and your son to let down the other team

Well tomorrow is a new day. So hope you both and any other Tracy team members out there have a fabulous day. We can do this! I'm off to send you both those SP messages

Hey everybody! emoticon

It's me, Mary. Don't be confused by my new profile photo...Changed my profile pick to last year's travel team! This is usually a fun time of year...transition from high school basketball to travel basketball and get to reconnect with coaches, players and parents that we don't see much of when it's not travel season (last year 10 players from 8 different area schools)...but this past week has been more stress than fun because Joe's high school coach called me to say he was going to coach a travel team of 10th graders this year and wanted Joe to play for him...well we had already committed to the other coaches and I'm team mom again this year so I had to tell the 6' 7" Irish Catholic New Yorker coach that Joe won't be playing on his travel team...I emailed him the news on Sunday and he hasn't responded...yikes...but even if this costs Joe a spot on the varsity team next year (which another mom told me she thinks will happen) it was the right thing to do...(but it's still giving me a huge headache because I tend to over-react to things that involve my kiddo!)...hopefully coach will send a very gracious response in a day or so and I will feel better about the whole situation...

Pam I tried to post a reply to you on Friday at work...had it all typed out then got interrupted and by the time I got back to the computer it had timed out and my post was lost...and it was time to close up and go home...I don't think I had a chance to log onto Spark all weekend...busy with basketball stuff...concessions shifts at high school and helping with sign-ups at travel ball tryouts...

I know you struggle getting your veggies in but I find it's really key for me to keep the cravings away...on Friday I was going to suggest that you make some batches of stews/soups/chilis over the weekend to have on hand...but now your weekend is gone! but if you're off tomorrow maybe you can do it then...if you want to post what you're making I can maybe give you some suggestions to up the veggies in the recipes...or if you want to post a list of vegetables you find tolerable I can try to give you ideas for ways to prepare them!

Hope you're still getting your workouts in! I haven't gotten much of anything done since last Friday...need to find some motivation somewhere! Low energy...probably because of the basketball drama emoticon I really need to do some yoga, breathe and put things in perspective...if I'm going to have a problem this is an awfully good one to have...my kid is healthy enough to play sports and two teams want him and both of the teams have amazing coaches...just so hard having to tell one team "no thank you"...

School cancelled here today...freezing rain and/or snow was forecast but temp stayed at 33 so no ice so far! Wouldn't have minded seeing a few snowflakes though emoticon - it's been a long time!

Enjoy your Tuesday evening and have a great Wednesday!

I'm doing pretty well with Simone's MS workouts; I just don't know when I should challenge my ankle to get started back on the trampoline cardio. I've been having a really rough time with food lately, and the scale shows it. I'm just not sure how to help myself help myself, especially without a lot of support. I look forward to hearing from you guys soon!

Happy President's Day!

Pam I sure hope you get some better sleep tonight! Sorry about your ankle and calf - take care of them! Great job with your BBS! Look forward to hearing about the book!

Marki I hope your hubbie had a great round! I'm sure your doggie loved the cookies!

I'm still low energy but hoping to get myself moving again soon.

Happy Monday, team!

We happen to be in the middle of a snowstorm, so I don't have to go in to work today. I'm really glad because last night was soooo rough for me. It took forever to get to sleep and I was having to pull out every trick in the book to finally do so... if ever was a 'good' day for me to be snowed in it's DEFINITELY when I didn't get much sleep the night before.

Happy anniversary Marki! Alex and I have our 10th coming up this May. As far as the BBS TV streaming goes, it works however you do your streaming to your TV. For me, I stream it from my laptop to the TV; however I know there are many ways to do it. It depends on how you have it set up in your house. BTW, I FINALLY got the book! I actually think that the merchant is sending me another one because this one had gotten lost in the mail (tracking just stopped... for like A WEEK!) So it looks like I might end up with a spare. Today I'll get a chance to do some reading after my workout.

I forgot to tell you guys that I twisted my ankle a few days ago (not while working out) so the ankle is injured and it also pulled my calf when it happened... so no trampoline cardio until it heals a little; but I can do most MS work without any issues. And Simone has been kicking my butt! She will do something a little different than Tracy and I'll think "why didn't I think of that? That's such a good idea!" but then I realize that it's because I work as a receptionist, not a creative fitness professional! For example, when she does trampoline cardio she instructs you to wear wrist weights so that the arm choreography is doing more than just elevating your heart rate, but also helping you get a genuine arm workout in! In this example, the only difference is the wrist weights but it makes all the difference in the world. I've also been doing the 14 minute stretch routine after my workout so Simone is helping eliminate some of my bad habits (like not stretching after working out.) I'm really enjoying her, but I still heart Tracy! I still google Tracy like some weird stalker because she has the most fun, interesting life and since she's been training me in my living room for a couple of years I almost feel like I 'know' her.

Anywhoo... have a great week all! I hope you get your veggies and workouts in!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

Today is my wedding anniversary and my gift to my husband is to let him spend the day with his mistress (golf) emoticon Living so close to "sin city" with strippers and legal prostitution it's so nice that my only competition for my husband's affection is a golf course. emoticon

Pam I'm going to look for the book on amazon and check out the BBS tv. Can you actually watch it on your TV. It won't do me any good if I can only access it from our computer. I don't get enough computer time lately as it is.

Mary, I hope you feel better soon. I definitely think the veggies make a big difference.

Maureen, hope you're better by now too.

Mary, sweetie, I'm sorry you're not feeling well! It sounds like you're on the right track, though, by focusing on nutrition and sleep. Maybe you could consider a high quality multi vitamin as well?

Marki, I've experienced the same thing you're talking about... I guess I still kinda am. It's so hard to start back after illness or injury because your body likes routine and it's new routine is to not be working out and here you are, changing your body's routine by starting your workouts again! Before I got sick last year a normal workout for me was 1 1/2 hours (45 min MS and 45 min trampoline cardio) and on days I felt like superwoman I'd do 2 hours (1 hour of MS and 1 hour of trampoline cardio.) After all my body went through last year, currently my record is 69 minutes. But you and I are a pair of determined gals, and we'll get there!

As far as the Body by Simone book goes... I still don't have it. Tracking was a bear to find, but when I did, it said the book was shipped A MONTH FROM NOW and I should get it by September 2. I sent the seller (an online bookstore) an unpleasant e-mail and they said it was clearly an error and would get another one shipped out. In the meantime I've been reading snippets of her book on Amazon with the 'look book' feature. Many pages are excluded, but I can get my fix until I can get my book!

Do you guys notice all the awesome shirts Tracy wears with positive messages on them like 'love yourself' and 'be YOU tiful'? The brand is called Good Hyouman and I finally ordered one of their long sleeve tees. They're expensive, but I swear they are the softest shirts you've ever touched! I'd been checking into the brand and everyone says the sizes run really small so order a size up; so I did that and ordered an XL. I am currently looking into any method I can to try to shrink the shirt because it fits EXACTLY like an XL (imagine me wearing a circus tent. Wait... don't imagine that. Well, too late, I guess you already did emoticon ) If I can't get it to shrink I'll just call it 'oversize' and make sure I order a smaller size next time!

I don't know if any of you guys have signed up for BBS TV yet, but that girl is kicking my butt! I'd been doing much of the same with Tracy... you know how you get into a routine where you mostly do your favorite few? Well, I can't do that with Simone's stuff because she's hitting different angles and using some props and all that... so I'm definitely feeling it! I'm having a really good time with it though... doesn't that sound weird coming from me? I currently have a weekly goal of 3.5 workout hours... but in the interest of full disclosure... that has also been including the 14 minute stretch segment.

It's just about time for me to get started on my workout this morning, actually. Have a great Friday, team!

emoticon Hi Team!

Uggh...yesterday I came down with the cold that has been torturing my poor boy for more than a week...congestion, cough, sore throat, headache and body aches that made me worry it might be flu...not great sleep last night but slept in til almost 10 this morning and came to work late... that extra sleep really helped...I'm not achy today so I'm hoping I'm already on the way to recovery...

Marki I've been hitting the veggies hard today trying to give my body all the vitamins and antioxidants it needs to beat this bug! I had been slacking off on my veggie intake and I think that may have made me more susceptible to the virus than I am when I'm on my "A" game nutritionally...I know better and I love veggies...just lazy and not putting the time in to prepare them...

Pam - you are really racking up the fitness minutes! emoticon So glad you found some great variety that you enjoy!

You too Marki! Soreness means you're working those muscles! Just make sure you let them recover enough before torturing them again!

I'm going to check out Simone, P57 and the foam roller videos!

Maureen hope you're feeling better!

Keep moving everyone! emoticon

Mary

Let's try this again! I was using the crappy laptop and was almost done writing my post when that computer decided to eat it. I made my husband fork over the good one. Anywhoo... I ordered my Body by Simone book almost a week and a half ago and haven't received it yet (BUMMER!) but I already signed up for her streaming service http://www.bodybysimone.com/
It's only $9.99 per month with no contract. It's called BBS TV and has beginner and advanced material as well as trampoline cardio, dance cardio, toning with and without light weight, and even a breakdown of the dances and a 14 minute stretch. You pick what you want from the video menu and basically customize your workout for level, time, and what you want to work on any given day. Since Simone teaches, for all intents and purposes, the same method, you'll probably like the exercises even though they are slightly different. I got pretty sore because on Sunday I did 69 minutes and on Monday I did 65... but will all this new content I'm finding it to be a lot of fun and want to keep trying other segments! She does use a little more equipment, but it's nothing expensive or exotic and you probably have most of it, anyway. Simone utilizes a mat, a trampoline, wrist and ankle weights, light weights, resistance bands, a chair, a pilates ball, and a really big ball. This inexpensive equipment helps Simone reach the areas she wants to get to a little easier. However if you don't have something you need yet you can do the workouts that don't require any equipment, or just what you already have, until you get anything you need. The only thing I didn't have is the pilates ball and I've got one ordered. Simone is also a talker so you get verbal instruction and she usually plays her own music very low so that you can put on your playlist while working out with her. If you're on the fence at all about it, I would say to jump right over that fence and give Simone a try.

DISCLAIMER: I still love Tracy, though!

Have a great week everyone!

Happy Tuesday!

Mary I'm glad you have more energy again. emoticon Those cheers crack me up! That's just awesome! How exciting that your son has so many colleges interested in him. You have to be a very proud mama! Congratulations!

Pam, how exciting! Thanks for sharing the info on Semone. Would you mind posting a link to her web address for me. Please please pretty pretty please emoticon Can't wait to hear all about her book once you're done with it.

Maureen, I'm so sorry you've been sick. Hope you're having a much better week.

My body is SCREAMING at me. I just can't believe how sore I am from taking time off. It so crazy the way Tracy's program works. The good news is a found a new foam roller video on YouTube. It's really helping me relieve some of this soreness.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=okAAOH2OAX8

Oooh. And I'm such a shining object chaser/ Fitness DVD addict that I'm always tempted to buy new programs, but I have to force myself to stay focused on Tracy, BUT this weekend I discovered that one of youtube channels I subscribe to has posted some Physique 57 workouts. I'm so excited to be able to check them out without buying them. Although from what I've seen (while drinking my morning coffee, HA!) they look like they get your heart rate up for a more intense low impact workout. Here's the link to one of them if you've never seen a P57 workout either.

Ok, I'm off to cook up some yummy veggies. My body is craving those things. I'm surprised by what a difference eating all those veggies has on how I feel.

emoticon DS has kept me quite busy lately! All good stuff, but the time I usually use to join the team has been taken up by reading all the emails I've been getting from colleges that are interested in him (they recently got their PSAT scores), volunteering in concessions, cheering during games, etc!

Friday night his school played their arch rival... it was a packed house!...the games didn't go well for the home team (us) but I think we won the battle of the student body chants! They cracked me up! (My son goes to a public high school for smart kids. We played a private school.)

The other team started chanting: Nerds! Nerds! Nerds! Nerds!

Our kids responded: Hey Hey what do you say - You're going to work for us one day!

The other team: We just swept you! We just swept you!

Our kids: We use vacuums! clap-clap, clap-clap-clap We use vacuums!

then later G P A, G P A!

I'm glad they take pride in their nerdiness!

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend! I paddled, walked & biked today...gorgeous weather here! Had to get outside

Hope your weekends were great!

Mary

Hey guys! It's been a really busy week for me. I've not been keeping up with my workouts too well so far this week, but this morning I got 23 minutes of MS work in. Hopefully I'll make up some of my lost time at the tail end of this week. I also found out that one of Tracy's former trainers Simone de la Rue wrote a book (that you can pick up for a song on ebay) and has her website that's only $9.99 per month. She will never replace Tracy for me, but I think will be a source of fresh content because it's pretty much exactly the same workouts. And that should be really helpful for me because Tracy doesn't have a lot of trampoline cardio workouts (only three) and I can get some more from Simone and get a little more variety.

I hope you guys all have had a stronger start of the week than I have and together let's all finish the week out strong!

Hey All!

Marki - great to see you back! So glad you have the all clear!!!

Maureen - So sorry you had the flu but way to jump back on the exercise!!!

Pam - you still rocking it?!!!

I'm kind of in a low energy funk that I really need to pull myself out of or the scale is going to start going the wrong way! I like to eat emoticon !

I'll have an hour or so "home alone" tonight (which is unusual)...really hoping that I can make myself do some Tracy or other strength during that time emoticon

Keep posting what you're doing! It's hard for me to push myself to the point of soreness - but a little easier if I know I'm not the only one suffering emoticon

Have a great Tuesday!

Mary

thanks ladies for all your feedback. I am moving forward with the workout that is difficult (for that one exercise only) and find that I am getting better at it each day. I got the flu so didn't work out for a week. Will now do 10 days on this dvd and then move on. BUT, I also am taking the balance exercise from the prior workout and doing that in addition. Will keep you all posted. so happy to find there are others out there who love Tracy.

Hi! I'm so glad to see you both! emoticon

Mary, emoticon emoticon emoticon on your 1/2 marathon! That's just amazing! And I'm with Pam. You definitely don't need to keep your fabulous goals and achievements to yourself just because, I'm hurt. You help me stay inspired.

I'm also so sorry about your friend's son's passing. 17 is definitely too young. emoticon

Pam, keep up the great work! You're an inspiration too!

Maureen, emoticon I'm glad you decided to drop by and post. I'm sure you've made your decision by now. Pam gave you some good advice, but, I would have encouraged you to move on. Tracy believes in performance not perfection. I always do my best with each exercise, and then at the end of the 10 days, I let it go. No looking back. The next group of exercises always seem to work my body in a completely different way anyway. But that's just me and right now, I'm dealing with injuries (non Tracy related)

So, that's why I haven't been around lately ladies. My doctors are doing more testing because of my weird muscle issues, and on top of that I've been having an elevated heart rate., not related to exercise or activity, or my husband being near by. emoticon

So, I wasn't allowed to workout, but I got the all clear yesterday, so I'm getting back to the program today.

We're also prepping the house to go back on the market. Hopefully I can keep up with the cleaning and my workouts. emoticon

Happy Saturday!

Marki

Mary, congratulations on your amazing accomplishment! emoticon I'm so proud of you! emoticon Btw, you never need to not talk (to me at least) about your journey just because I had a hiccup in mine. I get excited to hear about every victory, large or small, that my fellow sparkers achieve. emoticon I really wish I liked running, but I don't. My stepdaughter does, and it seems to make getting in her workouts just a little bit easier. I do Tracy because I was one of those gals who had an entire shelf of fitness DVD's, all of which I dreaded and ended up not doing because I just hated it. I also tried fitness classes, gyms, and running, but I couldn't find anything I could get in to. After trying a million different things, I saw Tracy's infomercial. I was not very hopeful, but I ordered it on QVC (because you DO NOT want to get in one of those databases where they keep sending you things you didn't order!) and I knew from prior experience that QVC stood behind their 30 day guarantee. I finally found something I didn't hate or dread, so I next went to ebay and order a few more and then a few more until I now have quite a collection. But since Tracy's prescription is 1-2 hours of exercise per day, 6-7 hours per week (6 to 14 hours a week!) and I'm not at that fitness level, it's hard to know what I SHOULD aim for.

It sounds like you live in a beautiful area! The paddle boarding and birds sounds like a lot of fun. Where I live (the St. Louis area) it's really challenging to do much outside. Both summers and winters are very harsh, but I do like to walk the trails in the historic cemetary, right behind my apartment complex, during the narrow windows of opportunity between seasons.

To the rest of the team, I hope you're having a fabulous week and get a chance to stop by soon!

Thank you Pam.

I find it really hard to stick to any one program...I like to mix things up...I don't think I told y'all because you and Marki were both battling injuries but back in November I started training to run a half-marathon...crazy at my age but another friend was talking about it so I thought why not give it a shot...the race was last Saturday (the 18th) and I did it! While training I was doing short runs on Tues/Thurs and a long run on Saturday...adding length each week...

well my friends' son died on Sunday and I couldn't muster up any energy last week but tomorrow I'm going to try to get back to running on Tues/Thurs/Sat...I still usually manage 30-60 minutes of walking each day...walking is still my #1 cardio emoticon

still trying to do at least 15 minutes of yoga at bedtime...but that didn't happen last week either...and I need to get back to Tracy or some other form of strength! but don't have plan right now!

I did get out for a nice long slow paddle yesterday, the air was amazing, took lots of long deep breaths, felt so good...managed to snap photos of an egret and a pelican with my phone so I made them my profile pic...

Now I need to catch up on all the work I put off last week...could only manage to do what HAD to be done but not what SHOULD have been done...so back to working I go!

Have a great Monday!

Mary

Mary, I'm so sorry to hear that. emoticon I understand why you haven't felt your sparkiest this week. As we get older, we tend to end up going to more funerals, but one memory stands out as the worst one I've ever been to. It was a teenage cousin of mine who had been hit by a car, and I'd never before and never since experienced a funeral in which everyone lost it like that. My thoughts are with you as you go through this difficult time and help this family with a devastating loss. emoticon I'm proud of you that you haven't forgotten to take care of yourself, too.

I had set a very ambitious goal this week of 210 fitness minutes that I did not reach. I did, however, get 185 minutes (a record for me since my recovery, but ended up pretty sore.) I feel since Tracy's prescription is 1-2 hours 6-7 days per week, I likely will not ever be one of her star pupils. I'm sure that anyone who follows that would reach their body goals, but for the rest of us... I'd be interested in knowing what you guys use as your process to decide on how far to push yourselves. Do you shoot for her suggestion or do you try for something else?

Hey Pam emoticon

Sounds like you're really getting into your workouts! emoticon

A tough week here...some friends lost their 17 year old son. I haven't felt very sparky but I have been pretty good with my nutrition...logging on to Spark to track to make sure I don't under-nourish and end up sick...

Have a great weekend!

Good morning team!

I FINALLY broke down and edited my workout playlist for time; I needed something more realistic for the moment. I made a promise to myself that when my time increases I will start adding more songs back in, but for now I needed music to propel me along in doing my current workouts. The original one took forever to make and I had it timed really well with songs of appropriate tempo and mood for my 2 hour workouts, including a couple of breaks for water and to move props plus a 10 minute yoga/stretch/cool down afterward. That totaled about 2 hours and 20 minutes. At present the longest workout I can do is the 50 minute Total Body Trampoline to which I also add a 10 minute yoga/stretch/cool down at the end. I also HAVE to pause the workout a few times for a few minutes in order to complete most of the reps, so I figured that in as well. The new version of my playlist is a full hour shorter than before.

At the moment my routine seems to be serving me well in my quest to get back to a higher workout time and level. It is as follows: I will do the long workout, then for a couple of days do a 25 minute low level, easier Tracy routine so that I can warm up my muscles and get the lactic acid moving out of my body so that I can be more functional in my day to day life rather than being nearly crippled by that stiff soreness. Lather, rinse, repeat. This way I have been able to increase total workout minutes every week.

I hope you're all doing well, and look forward to hearing about your week!
