Hi all!
Good to see everyone's updates:) I've been a bit spotty but here's mine...I'm around day 40ish (?) of Meta Glutcentric. Going well! My biggest complaint is that I'm still hungry all the time! Trying to just drink a ton of water to combat that, and of course TRY to make better choices! Haven't seen much scale movement as of late so I stopped looking. Sleeping great and energetic during the day. My arms are definitely becoming more sculpted, and the bum is getting lifted for sure. I can sort of see my abs coming back under that jelly layer;) I will be thrilled if I can get this to really happen, especially after 4 kids including a twin pregnancy c-section and 17 months later a V-back. I was reading this article about the latest lipo/fat removal technology (CoolSculpt?) and thought if I keep at this for another 6 months, an hour a day, and I can't get my tummy flat (and lose my muffin top completely) then I'm going for it....haha! Carrying those twins around was no joke and I'm really not sure my stomach is ever going to completely return to normal...we'll see! I love the Tracy videos so far, but you can't help but become a little bit vain (or jealous) when you're watching her...is it just me? Ha! Of course at the end of the day I really just want to feel good, but looking great would be awesome too:) Hope you all have a wonderful week!

Hope everyone's weekend is off to a great start!

Managed 40 minutes of strength yesterday and 30 minutes walking today...certainly not earth-shattering but better than nothing!

Hope y'all have a chance to post soon! Miss you!

Hey everyone!

Welcome back Su! Hope your workouts are going great! I've been missing in action but hope to start checking in regularly again!

Pam - great to see you! I was getting worried! Hope your minor procedure went well and all is good!

Marki - how's your new place????

Lots of family was in town last week. I did way too much snacking on things that I don't keep around because if I do I'll snack instead of eating meals...saw the highest weight I've seen in 2 years - yikes!!! I refuse to change my tracker just yet...I'm giving myself 'til Sunday then I'm going to change it no matter what the scale says...reality check!!!

Exercise started giving me scary headaches...???...I very rarely have headaches so it concerned me...had it checked out and all seems o.k. so I'm going to start back slowly with some gentle yoga and walking and go from there...fingers crossed!

Hope to see y'all here soon!

Mary

Hi! I haven't been on here for years, but the last time I genuinely successfully dieted and did TAM, I was posting most days, so I'm back for the team spirit! I'm going to start meta (hip centric) again tomorrow for about the millionth time, but I'm skipping days 1-10 because I did them about a mont ago and can't face the same workout again...
I used to run a lot as well, but now I have 2 dogs and the small one isn't really up for it so I might actually have to do some TA cardio, or maybe the trampoline workout.
Look forward to getting to know you all, I hope there are some TA enthusiasts still out there!

Good morning team! I'm sorry to have been away but I've been in the midst of some health problems... hopefully it's almost over! I FINALLY got some Tracy in yesterday. It was
20 minutes of MS from Slim and Sculpt and I am sore! Just for an extra morale boost I gained 2 pounds since yesterday morning! (I know, I know... bodies retain water when the muscles are sore... but still frustrating!)

I'm scheduled to have a 'minor' procedure on Friday, if the stars align and everything works as planned. I'm hoping it doesn't need to be put off because I want to get it over with so I can stop worrying about it, get healed and get on with things.

I'm behind on catching up with posts so I'll get on that, but I hope everyone is well! Have a great week, team!

Happy Fourth Everyone!

Marki - emoticon Starting meta! Did you finish your Whole 30? Are you settled in?

How's everyone else doing???

My exercise has been spotty lately...I did jog 5k yesterday...but exercise today will be just constant motion to get a bunch of stuff done, gardening, still shredding documents, barbequeing then hopefully heading out to the beach to meet some friends (if we don't get more thunderstorms)...I signed up for some volunteering that I'm very excited about!

Have a wonderful holiday!

Hi! Ok this time it's not my fault for being MIA it's only my fault for not paying attention. I wrote a reply to your post and hit send, but never checked to see if it posted emoticon

Mary those pictures are amazing. I'm so sorry that you've been so personally touched by and have had to deal with that terrible senseless violence. Although, is there really any violence that makes sense? Hmmm. I'll never understand why people are so motivated by hate.

Lori, I try not to let my scale get to me. Because I definitely can feel my body changing and my stamina increasing when I'm consisting with Meta. I know you said you weren't following her food plan --- dare I say it out loud, emoticon CRAZY. I'm sure that anyone that can follow that plan sees their scale move a lot more quickly. But I definitely can't do it. BUT... I love the Paleo/Primal lifestyle. And I like to do it with a Wahl's Protocol twist, which is a focus on veggies 6-9 servings a day of leafy veggies, color, and suffer veggies. (divided evenly) and more healthy fat. It ends up being ketogenic. which actually leaves me feeling full longer. But I definitely eat a post workout snack or a meal shortly after working out. Working out always makes me hungry. emoticon

Well, I was popping in to say. Today is day 1 of Meta for me. I managed to get a quick workout in this morning. Before we started the big move. I'm so excited. We'll be settling in over the next few days, but by this time next week, I will have my own workout space and my own kitchen again. Yeah!!!!!

Hope you both, and Pam and Denise too! And anyone else out there has a great week, and a great 4th of July!

Hey team!

I feel like I've been in slow motion for the last couple of weeks. Partly because we had 14 straight days of 95+ emoticon but mostly because of much emoticon here.

Two Saturdays ago I was at the College of Charleston watching my son play basketball (a camp for high school teams). 6 days later I was in the same arena with thousands of community members exchanging hugs and "I love you's" with each other after we sang We Shall Overcome at the conclusion of a vigil to support those families who lost their loved ones that Wednesday night. The arena is less than 300 yards from Mother Emanuel A.M.E. church. And only 3.5 miles from my home. Unbelievable and horrific what has happened here. The shooter from a town 120 miles away coming here to start a war between the races. Instead he took 9 of Charleston's most faithful, beautiful people and left their families forgiving and praying for the killer despite their grief.

Complete, respectful silence as we placed flowers in front of the church. Anderson Cooper was across the street on a platform speaking into his microphone. Surreal.

The killer chose the wrong city if he wanted violence. Even through incredible pain the families and the rest of the community understand that as Dr. King said - darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.

Last Sunday the church reopened. I stood in the heat with hundreds of others during the service and listened via the PA system they had placed outside. Beautiful, uplifting service. Last Sunday night at sunset I participated in the Bridge to Unity walk. The plan was to have at least 3000 people there so we could hold hands across the entire 2.5 mile bridge Well there were more than 15,000. It was incredible. Everyone walking and cheering and singing and waving to all the cars who were blowing their horns. Helicopters above and hundreds of boats anchored below also blowing their horns.

Two days ago President Obama was in town to deliver a very moving eulogy for Reverend Pinckney (who was the leader of Mother Emanuel Church as well as a state senator). I watched the 4 hour service on television. Heartbreaking and again surreal seeing the casket on the court where my son so recently was playing ball.

Marki - so sorry about your mom and dad but glad they're healing well. Can't wait to hear about your move - I know you're excited!

Lori - tracking my food, eating breakfast and eating thoughtfully throughout the day is key to controlling my afternoon snacking. But I also struggle with losing weight when I increase MS workouts...I finally started some strength work again yesterday...we'll see if I can get this figured out this time! It's hard because I know if I do just cardio (mostly walking) I can stay at goal weight much easier than when I add strength...but I also know that in the long run I'll be much healthier and stronger (obviously!) if I add strength.

Was hoping to be paddling my kayak right now but a thunderstorm ruined that plan. Oh well we need the rain emoticon and it gave me some time to do some Sparking!

Have a great Sunday evening!
Mary

Hi :) Doing pretty well in the workout and staying consistent. I missed about 5 days in a row last week because I was out of town but instead I did 4 mile walks around the lake near my relatives. When I got back I just started on the next day that I would've been on rather than subtracting those days from the 90 days because it made more sense anyway to keep my 'rest' days consistent (I like them being on Saturday!). The scale isn't moving much for me but I am noticing some body changes which is nice. I haven't done my measurements again but I'm guessing there's very subtle change there. Only problem I have is food...I'm starving! An hour workout every day really makes me hungry! How do you guys handle that when you are trying to lose some pounds? I don't need to lose much and I'm sure as I build muscle it will happen but it would go faster if my calories were closer to say 1500 which I doubt they are now (I don't track). I've never been a dieter in my life and it is much easier for me to just workout more than to abstain from something I like. I'm not a binge eater so it's not a huge problem but I'm trying to stick to only having something 'sweet' although I prefer chocolate, so say a cookie or brownie just ONCE a week. It's hard. I get the cravings and I'll then have a protein bar or something...but previously I would say I had a treat maybe 5x a week. I'm good in the sense that I never have more than one (I would never eat two cookies or something) and I make everything homemade - my kids and husband love my baking so that makes it even harder because I do love to cook and bake. It's just hard when about 3:00 hits and I'm craving my afternoon tea/sweet treat. How do you all handle that? Any tips for success?

Hi😎
Quick check in. Sorry I've been MIA again. Seems I moved back to CA just in time. My parents have been hurting themselves more and more frequently. This time my dad fell and my mom ended up in the ER when she hurt her knee trying to help him up. Been driving the 40 miles each way nearly every day to help out. Not a fun drive with traffic.

But things are getting back to normal and we're moving into our place in a few days. I'm so excited to get back to Tracy full time.

Lori, how'd days 11-20 go? Congrats on your results so far. emoticon emoticon emoticon
Denise, I'm so excited to be on this new Tracy journey with you. So proud of you for making time for yourself while taking care of your family and being pregnant.

Pam emoticon I'm going to have to send you a text tomorrow and check on you. I was hoping you were feeling well enough to post.

Mary emoticon Too! Hoping you're taking a fun vacation or something. Now that you aren't a slave to your own business.

Well, Happy Friday!! Have a great weekend. I'll be posting regularly again. Pinky swear. emoticon emoticon

Lori-there are tons of Tracy videos on youtube. Seems like people like to put all her dvds on there and they don't get taken down.

Been enjoying Tracy's Beginner streaming workout. Love it, and it is the right intensity for me.

That's awesome that you are working out while you're pregnant, I'm sure that will make a huge difference. With my twins I walked up until I was put on bed rest for the last ten weeks and then I delivered early. I became pregnant with my son when my girls were 9 mos old and he gave me the worst sciatica issue...I had no idea what or where the sciatic nerve was before then, so that was an eye opener. I recovered but I feel like 3 years later my body is still recovering from the pregnancies. Remarkably I don't have stretch marks, so I can't complain that much but it would be nice to just feel firm again! Looking forward to hearing more about your progress, I'll have to look up the old TA dance cardio. ~L.

Welcome Lori- Sounds like you are extremely busy! Way to go on getting your workouts in! I also can't do her meta/cont cardio workouts. I actually rather do her older dance workouts that are more dancy. I just can't do all that jumping around, my knees start to bother me. I know I've seen lots of people have good results just following her muscle structure workouts and do other cardio workouts. Best of luck!!!

Still doing Tracy's pregnancy workout Month 4. Today I'm excited to try out the Beginner streaming!!! Really looking forward to it!

Hi everyone...I'm Lori - 42 year old mom of four kids, three of which are under age 5:) I introduced myself the other day. So I completed day 10 today of Meta Glutcentric. Excited to switch to the new workout tomorrow and see what sort of torture Tracy has in store for me...ha! I was pretty good I only missed one workout during the first ten days and to be honest I now look forward to doing it every day. Like I told Marki...the cardio kind of frustrates me. I have a professional grade elliptical in my home gym and I feel like I get a better sweat from that rather than bouncing around trying to mimic or even freestyle her moves. I'll still do it occasionally to keep things interesting. Anyway the good news is when I weighed in today I officially lost 2 pounds!!! Woot! My goal is about 12 or 13 but I'm really more interested in just really getting sculpted and looking good in my clothes. Also, I'm not following the meal plan. Can't do it. I eat fairly healthy and snack on things like hard boiled eggs, protein bars, etc and I juice at home. With three little kids to chase around all day, I know what I need to sustain my energy level and unfortunately the "sweet potato corn soufflé" (huh? I love to cook and there is no such thing as a soufflé without egg in it!!) But overall I have to say, I have a renewed all day energy by doing this full hour workout 6 days a week. I'm really amazed. I wasn't sedentary at all before because I really can't be...but I actually have real afternoon energy now where before I was yawning all the time come 3:00 and was looking for caffeine. Also, I'm sleeping sold as a ROCK. I love that about good workouts! Have a great day everyone :)

Happy Sunday!

Marki - glad you're feeling better! Enjoy your new Tracy!

Denise - very impressive working out during your pregnancy! Much better than my pregnancy plan of eating Chick-fil-a 3 times a week and not exercising at all...that plan gained me 70 pounds!...that was 16 years ago and I didn't get around to losing it all until 3 years ago...I decided when your kid becomes a teenager it's time to get rid of the pregnancy weight! emoticon

Pam - hope you're having a great weekend!

Time to go for a little walk with Harry emoticon

OMG! My computer keeps eating my posts! Well, it's really the stupid WiFi connection at my sister's house. I'm online when I start posting and somehow as I hit send, I'm offline and my post is gone. emoticon

Denise, you're amazing! Working out throughout your pregnancy is supposed to be so important for you and your baby. I've been tempted to buy her Pregnancy Project, because I heard that even she struggles with some of the moves as she gets bigger. And I think I'd probably enjoy working that program backward. Start with a larger Tracy struggling a little, and watch her get smaller, and stronger.

Mary, thanks for sharing your location (again) Well I definitely feel like I've asked that question before, when your weather sounded so much nicer than mine.

Pam, hope you're doing better. emoticon

Ok, I'm off. I've been feeling and finally moving better these last few days. So I have to make the most of it. I'm going to sneak up to our bedroom and try to watch and do some Tracy before bed. I ordered her new DVD, and I've been dying to preview/try it.

Have a great weekend!

Hi ladies!

I'm excited to be part of this group again!!! Looking forward to getting to know you.

Marki, I am so sorry about your dad, but I'm glad to hear that things are better. Must of been so scary!

Pam- I hope you find out what made you have the allergic reaction! Hope you are feeling better.

Mary- Hope your soreness goes away! I think its no fun when you get so sore that you could hardly move, but I bet the walk felt good!

I am currently doing Tracy Anderson's Pregnancy Project. I am currently on her Month 4 workout and it hits the arms and butt pretty good. I've actually been a little sore on my obliques too. I really like her pregnancy series so far. I am trying to do her workouts 3x a week and do a little bit of Buti Yoga, but I have to stick to the easy ones. I don't want to do any high intensity as of right now. Its hard some days specially when I want to do some of Tracy's Dance Cardio.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!
Denise

Happy Friday!

Marki emoticon I don't think you have Alzheimer's...I'm not sure I've mentioned where I am...I'm in Charleston, SC

So sorry about your dad...glad it's not serious...my mom is 88 and lives alone so I do wonder if it's time to get her a life-alert in case she falls...so nice that your parents have so many children so close!

Pam - yikes - do you know what caused your allergic reaction? Hope you're feeling better!

I'm extremely sore from my Wednesday exercise - too much too soon! I did manage a nice walk early this morning while it was still cool...now I'm digging through papers but felt like taking a break so I thought I'd say a quick "Hello" and go track my food...

Have a great weekend!

Good morning!!

Pam I hope you're feeling better today.

Mary, for the Alheizheimer moment number 32 where do you live again? I'm seriously going to have to have a doctor check on that for me. emoticon
I guess it's human nature to imagine greener pastures if you had taken a different route. Because we'd wished we had chosen patio furniture over indoor a few times. At one of the trade shows we met a couple with a Patio store in Tornado Alley. They said business was fabulous, even after the economy crashed becuase most people would lose their patio sets to storms and had to replace them each year. Crazy!! Well congratulations on your much deserved retirement from retail. emoticon
As life would have it, the last two days have been extra stressful and crazy. My 90 year old father fell in my parents' backyard and hurt himself ((luckily not too seriously). But my husband and I still dropped everything and drove out to check on him. Felt good to be close enough to help this time. Luckily, now that I moved back to CA only 1 of my parents 8 children lives out of state. The rest of us are now all within an hour's drive max.

The most disturbing part of the ordeal was that my 90 year old mother had heard him calling her, but had ignored him for an unknown amount of time, because "he knew she was busy watching her show". emoticon She's seriously losing it.
So today I'm trying to get a little me time in, before I drive out to check on my dad again.

Hope everyone has a great day.

It's so great to see the team posting again!

Marki, I'm not good with figuring out what time it is in different time zones, but I'm central, if that helps emoticon And you pretty much are dead on with my schedule! My husband wakes up at about 5:15; I sleep a bit longer if I can get back to sleep but that's not always the case. Then I do my computer check in and get ready for work. Some of my days are long and many are profoundly stressful, so I do absolute necessities when I get home. Workouts can only happen in the morning for me with this schedule. For you it sounds like having a dog is a built in workout, even though you're going through a crazy busy time in your life. But it sounds like it's almost done!

Mary, it's good to see you back again. All of you gals have such important jobs! It's good to hear that you're about to head in to a less stressful phase of your life, and have a little more freedom to do things you've been wanting to do for a long time. I'm so jealous of your CSA! We have them here but they're so cost prohibitive that most people just can't afford them. I think that's awful... but maybe one day it'll change. Great job on setting goals, btw! Paperwork is hard to motivate yourself to do, but it looks like you've got a great plan for it as well as your health!

Denise, I don't think we've been formally introduced. It's great to meet you and I look forward to getting to know you!

This month has been tough already! On Saturday I ended up at urgent care because of a widespread allergic reaction to something and got injections of benadryl and steroids, so I felt like I had the flu all weekend. And the night before last was a really tough one for sleep, with me only getting 3 hours! So yesterday I was in bed all day because I was very sick from that. It makes me really nauseous when I have several ridiculous sleeping nights in a row! Hopefully that whole trend has passed now and I'll be able to get back to normal.

Have a great week team, and I look forward to talking to you all again!

Hey girls!

Thanks Marki - We sold furniture as well - only it was outdoor furniture and accessories like gas and charcoal grills, umbrellas, firepits, etc...it was a fun business but it was more fun before 2008 when as you know, selling high end anything was not a good place to be...we bought our building in 2004 so there was no not renewing a lease...we just had to "hunker down" and hang in there...now that economy is better we found a great tenant for our space...we signed the lease in late March...big relief but also nerve racking because between our showroom and warehouse we had 10,000 sq ft worth of merchandise to liquidate...glad that phase of life is over!

You had a successful yesterday for sure...hope today was even better!

Pam I sure hope you're getting your sleep issues worked out! Looks like your ticker is moving in the right direction! emoticon

I've sorted through 8 boxes so far but none today...just felt like I needed to ramp up the exercise today...got in almost 2 hours - mostly walking and walking videos...but also 20 min of intense cardio and 10 min mat arms...

picked up my 2 CSA bags today and had a nice visit with one of my mom's good friends...she just moved here from Savannah and is living at the retirement community where I pick up one of my bags! She's a hoot...I'll have to tell you about the birthday party her friends threw for her before she moved when I have a little more time...right now time to go prep veggies!

Have a great evening!

Mary, congratulations! What kind of retail store did you have? My husband and I had a retail furniture store for the last 16 years. It was fabulous until the housing market crashed. So when our last lease ran out we closed up and took it all online. We don't do the numbers but we have a lot less headaches.

I can relate to your leftovers too. I still have boxes of candles and bolts of fabric and too many other things that were too amazing to sell cheap. Lol.

I'm with you on the tax stuff too. Yuck. Well hope you get through it all soon. And start enjoying your time off and life. Yeah!!!

Ok. Pam I forgot to confirm your time difference. 3 hours ahead of me right? So, what's your schedule like? Wake up, leave for work, get home, and stuff? Normally I'm up by 5:30 walking the dog by 6:30. and not working right now. Just trying to keep busy and stay out of the way until we move into our own place on July 1st.

Today I didn't get any Tracy in, because we were traveling. But I got 2 long dog walks done. One in Bakersfield and the other in Manhattan beach. Lots of water and veggies. No sugar. And I'm only 3 minutes late to bed. Overall I vote it was a Success. Tomorrow I should do better on Tracy. emoticon

Hey Ladies!

Crazy weekend! After 20 years in retail hubby and I closed up shop yesterday!

It's a great thing that has been our goal for many years and we finally found the right exit strategy...that's why April and May were nuts for me...we had to sell everything! And we did...except for a small truck load that we loaded up and donated yesterday...

For 20 years we had a 5000 square foot showroom and 5000 square feet of warehouse...now with no warehouse all of the boxes and boxes of personal and business paperwork had to come to our house...so I've got my work cut out for me sorting through it all, tossing what can be tossed, shredding was needs to be shredded and getting caught up with the bookkeeping so I can file last year's taxes....trying not to get overwhelmed...just telling myself to work at it daily and it will eventually all be sorted out...

I'm in for the 4 x 10! But I'm going to make it 4 x 10 plus 2 - at least 2 boxes of papers dealt with every day!

O.K. - off to do 10 minutes of Tracy and tackle 2 boxes!

Have a great night!

Mary

Yeah! Pam! I'm so glad you're here. Lets definitely do a daily check in. Did you save my cell number? You can always text me (if you have an unlimited plan) The 4 by 10 or 5 by 10 Challenge was the one Mary referred to in her post. It was 4 or 5 basic things --- 10 minutes of Tracy, 10 minutes of cardio, 10 cups of water, 10 servings or for the veggie haters even pieces of veggies/fruits; and I think mine may have been going to bed by 10 pm to help me get proper 8 hours of sleep. For me I might think I'm too busy to workout but can force 10 minutes. But usually those 10 minutes fly by, make me feel better, and turn into more. So it's a bonus win.

How are you doing with sugar? I'm debating going cold turkey, since moderation never works for me with sugar, and starting a Whole30 today. So far no sugar today. Woo Hoo!

Marki, it's so good to hear from a team member again! I didn't know if there were going to be any more posts because it's been so long since there has been one, but my gmail alerts me when someone has posted. And BTW I've had several posts eaten by the computer too, and it is SO frustrating!

I understand how difficult it is to keep up your healthy eating when junk is RIGHT THERE I FRONT OF YOU STARING YOU IN THE FACE and everyone else is eating it. People (and I include myself here!) wouldn't let this stuff take over their lives if it wasn't hard core addictive. I had a ridiculous May as well, so maybe you and I could begin a healthy challenge for June? I don't know what the ones you're referencing are so maybe you could help me out with that. I only recall the Whole 30 but not any of the others you mentioned. I'm definitely up for something though! And with you being in the gingerbread house for another month we might be able to lend one another support. Remember that if I can be any help at all I'm only a post or IM or text away!

I know this is no excuse but one of my issues in May is that the doctor is having to alter my insomnia drugs again, so there have been a lot of nights without proper sleep. So I've definitely felt tired and unmotivated; also poor sleep screws with your leptin and grehlin... so there's also been that. Needless to say I have not been getting anywhere near a proper amount of exercise (with the constant exhaustion) and for some weird reason when I finally get back to sleep after being awake for 2 or 3 hours in the middle of the night I get back to sleep in the wee hours and I've had problems waking up when my alarm goes off.

Don't forget Tracy has a new dvd coming out tomorrow! It's called Slim and Sculpt and utilizes the same type of band used in Teen Meta. I found a good price so I pre-ordered it so it might be a week or so after release before I get my copy. I know I have a million of them but for some reason a new one always gets me excited!

I'm setting an intention for this month to be better than last. Will you join me? Have a great week!

Attempt #4 to post to this thread. emoticon Not sure what's going on. Worst part is that I'm posting from my phone, so it already takes way too long. But at least it's finally a new phone I'm so happy to see that you're both still checking in. Hope you each have finished May strong. As for me, this last month has not been a healthy one. Eating has been off the chert bad, and my husband and I developed a donut a day habit. emoticon emoticon The only healthy habit we started was having that coffee and donut at the beach and then going for a long walk with the dog. It's been very beautiful. But the more we go, the more we notice the same people getting their morning workout done. But it was this amazing woman, (I had to take a picture) that never misses a workout that inspired both my husband and I to put down our donuts and pick up our walking pace.

So we're hoping to stay strong and kick the sugar demons to the curb and have a better June. I'm going to strive for Whole30 clean. My husband is really motivated too, so that will help. Other than that, I might have to stick to that 4 x 10 or was it a 5 x 10 challenge?? Hmmm. Tracy, Veggies, Water, Sleep, and .... I feel like I'm missing something.

Oh. We found a cute little rental that's only 5 short blocks from the beach, within walking distance of a lot of stuff, will allow my dog, and is close to my sister with Psrkinson's. Its definitely going to be an adjustment, and a lifestyle change, but I think it will be good for us. Only bummer is we can't move in until July 1st. So these next 30 days will be challenging. I really really really miss living in my own home, having my own kitchen, my exercise room, and sleeping in my tempurpedic bed.

Well here's to staying on track and accountable AND to having a great new month! emoticon emoticon

Hey Pam!

Hope you had a great weekend!

I don't really understand cheat days...I think it's because losing weight takes so much hard work for me that I can't see just throwing some of that work away...and I really enjoy "whole" foods that I prepare myself over prepared or most restaurant food...if I make poor choices it's because of lack of planning so that I end up grabbing stuff on the go rather than because I have planned to let myself have a cheat day...

I guess I can see why some people would like to plan a day off as a reward...but I think I'd call it a "reward" day or a "relax" day instead of a "cheat" day...but might be better to have a "reward" meal instead of an entire day...(when I hear "cheat day" I think of someone pigging out at all 3 meals and snacking in between!)

At work and need to get back to it! Trying to track my food today - that's work too, but necessary for me...

Have a great week!

Mary

I think you're right. I was at a coding seminar all day yesterday and the food was REALLY crappy so I didn't eat much... but my weight IS UP THIS MORNING!!! DUDE!!! I SHOULD have experienced at least A LITTLE loss, but I did not. And the things that did look good (like muffins and cakes and cookies which are all loaded with gluten) I was a good little girl and chose not to eat. Of course my weight loves to do the cha-cha and can be totally all over the place, which is REALLY frustrating. I know it can be any number of things that cause that but still... GRRRR!!! So maybe starting with maintaining is the best decision for me right now and then I can up my game when, at the very least, that works. I really do appreciate your help and suggestions!

I also downloaded a free app on my phone called HabitBull that I read about in some kind of healthy living magazine (although I don't remember which one) that you can set up to send reminders to your phone. On the free version you can choose up to 5 habits to track and get feedback in percentages of how you did. I'm hoping that will assist me.

I hope to hear from everyone again soon; the board is becoming very quiet again. I hope you all finish the week out strong!

As to question 2: goal needs to be doable...if doable right now is just maintenance while you figure things out that's o.k....if you think you can do 1/2 or 1 pound the first week go for it! Failure/schmailure there's always next week but try not to think of 1 week failure as doom & gloom...even if you don't quite get there you tried & every day is a new day to find the things that "click" for you! emoticon It's the only way to get there!

Short break for me so I'm going to answer your first question! I think I picked 1.2 because it's less boring than 1 & because I'd feel like a got a "bonus" pound off every 5 weeks!

Hey Pam...great questions...I'm closing up shop right now and heading home but I'll try to give you my opinions tonight...and that's the thing - there are no "one size fits all" answers - just opinions to listen to then figure out what works for you!

That is such a good idea! I'm a procrastinator too, and have been having trouble figuring out how to get from here to there. It looks like you're weekly goal was 1.2 lbs. How did you arrive at that figure? I'm trying to decide if that's the number I should use too. Or maybe because I weigh much more than you did at the time maybe my number should be higher (like 2.0 or 2.4?) I don't want to set myself up to fail but I feel so much anxiety over the weight gain last year (when I was sick) that I feel panicky and like I need to get at least that weight off so I can start over again. I have a lot of conflict and confusion, but I think this is a very good idea because I've been getting too off- track when I'm setting these long term, far off goals.

Also, did you allow yourself 'cheat days' or anything like that? I've read mixed reviews about them, but it seems everyone has a strong opinion. Either they're awesome and an important part of the process or they are an idea that came straight from the devil... it seems there is no in-between! The problem with me is that a 'cheat day' seems to grow; it'll turn in to a 'cheat weekend' or a 'long cheat weekend'; but that could just be me. Also, I understand what you mean with weight fluctuations because it seems that they've led to a fear of the scale for me. I was weighing 3 times a day or so last year when I was going at a good clip, but now it might be every 3 DAYS because if I hit a lower number I'm afraid that it's a red herring. Of course, the number on the scale affects how I feel about myself all day and sometimes it'll lead to me feeling very sad all day.

Thanks for listening and allowing me to pick your brain for ideas! I appreciate any help with this!

I hope to see everyone posting again soon, and have a great week team!

hey Pam...I've got 15 years on you...and I spent 40s thinking about losing weight every day but never doing it...you're setting your sights 6 months out...I used to do the same thing...in the summer I would tell myself that I would lose by Christmas but I'm a horrible procrastinator so I would end up not doing anything until November then I'd get distracted and another year would pass with a few more pounds added on...I swore I would not start my 50s in the 150s but sure enough in April 2012 when I turned 50 I was close to 160...

I lost a few pounds the next few months then finally in August 2012 I kicked it into high gear when a friend and I made a bet with each other...we set goals for weighing in weekly and if one of us didn't make it we had to pay the other emoticon I typed out a little spread sheet setting my goals for the first 15 weeks...that piece of paper is still on my refrigerator...I took a picture of it and here it is ...that little spreadsheet plus lots of walking and learning how to eat is what did it for me...the way our weigh-ins worked went like this - as long as we saw our goal weight once during the week we were good until the next weigh-in date...so for example if you look at 9/14 149.0 as long as I saw 149.0 once during the week of 9/8-9/14 I was good until 9/21 which was the last day for me to hit the next goal of 147.8...I hope that made sense...my weight fluctuates so I like to have a week to hit a goal instead of having one particular weigh-in day...it wasn't easy it was alot of hard work but I did the work and even got ahead of schedule and readjusted my goals and you can see by my scribbling...

I'm up for a team challenge but I need to make my personal challenge easy right now cuz' life is still crazy!

Here's weight goal through June!

See 125 on scale at least once a week between now and 5/31.
See 124.5 on scale at least once between 6/1 and 6/7
124 6/8 - 6/14
123.5 6/15 - 6/21
123 6/22 - 6/28

I'm taking a picture of this screen so I'll have it in my phone to keep myself on track.

So what are your goals for the next 7 weeks?

Hope everyone's week is going well!

Mary

You do know I just turned 38, right? emoticon So young is not exactly part of the equation... which is one reason why I panic... because I feel like I'm running out of time! I've heard a lot of women say that once they hit their 40's and 50's that it becomes almost impossible to lose weight. I'm not going to lie; part of this is vanity. I just don't want to look this way anymore (I never did want to look this way, actually.) But it's not only that, I also want to be as healthy as possible for as long as possible. Longevity does not run in my family, and I've already had a lot more health problems than most people my age. You're very sweet to say that, though! emoticon

I've had a couple of rough nights as far as sleeping goes, so I am skipping my workout because the more exhausted I am, it seems the more likely I am to injure myself. However, I've been (with the support of my team) doing better on the whole eating thing. Check it out! My ticker moved! In the right way this time! I had been doing pretty badly lately (ever since I got sick last fall) but hopefully I'm turning it around and can turn this little spark into a streak.

I think I forgot to tell you guys, but this month will be the 10 year anniversary for my husband and I. We haven't had professional pictures taken since our engagement photos and I feel like it's been way too long. That stuff is really important, and I've avoided the camera out of shame for several years now. Since Halloween is our favorite time of year we have decided to do them in early to mid October (when it's not hot but also not too cold.) Alex's daughter and her husband had 5 year anniversary pictures taken last year and they turned out really well, so we'll try to use the same one. I want to look good for our pictures and I want to be able to wear my real, original wedding ring for them, so I have a huge goal to meet between now and then. Is anyone up for a team challenge? Maybe that would help.

Sorry for the long post, but I look forward to hearing from you guys soon. Have a great week team!

Hope you & hubby had a great date!

Pam I'm I believer in losing slowly because I think it's easier to transition into maintenance if the weight goes off too quickly people often yoyo & gain back...plus losing slowly gives your skin a better chance of keeping up with the weight loss! emoticon Not emoticon (IMHO). Plus you're so young! Plenty of time to slowly work on nutrition so it becomes lifestyle not the D word!

Have a great evening!

There you go again Mary... giving me EXACTLY what I need EXACTLY when I need it! emoticon I'm so glad you hopped on to help me out, on your phone, no less! You're right about everything. Sometimes it's just hard for me to see the forest for the trees! emoticon All I can think about is how I was doing BEFORE I got sick, not AFTER; and that leaves me missing out on a very big piece of the story. My body and mind have been through a lot and I need to be more patient with myself so I can get a hold on this whole thing. And being stressed out makes it even harder... I can't get rid of the work stress right now but at least I can gain control here. I think today I'm going to go out with my husband to see a movie, and just have some fun. A few months ago, when I was sick, I couldn't do this! When I started this weight loss journey, I was hoping to lose it all in a year and be done. I'm starting to understand that it doesn't work that way. Life gets in the way and there are setbacks... some of them big... failures along with successes... and it's all part of it. Thanks for the support!

I wish I had a computer at home so I could send a long post. Key thing I noticed in your post was "horrible cravings" if you are caving to the cravings on a regular basis then that probably explains why no weight loss...it's easy to consume many calories in a very short time when cravings take over...what works for me Is planning ahead...I didn't today & found myself in the kitchen eating chocolate chips that live in my freezer for use in son's pancakes...normally I don't even think about those cc's but because I didn't eat enough good stuff the cravings hit me emoticon

Try not to be bummed about the jeans...like you said they just wore out...it's not that you busted them...& remember that your glass is so much fuller than it was months ago...you have survived a tumor, steroids, surgery & financial stress! And now you can breathe & sleep again!

Keep listening to your body! Don't overdo

Yesterday I got in about 20 minutes of trampoline cardio followed by a teensy 10 minute self led yoga session. I hoped it would help move around some of the lactic acid in my muscles. I'm still pretty sore today so I think I'll abstain until Sunday to give my muscles a chance to heal and re-build before going again.

I kinda had an 'aha!' moment at work with a patient, but it sadly didn't last. She and I ended up talking Tracy before she went in for her eye exam and she has heard good things and is excited to give it a go. I advised her to try Tracy's mat workout, as it seems everyone loves that one. Then, when she came back out to the desk, it just sorta happened... she shared that she had broken her ankle which totally de-railed her after she'd been doing so well with her fitness. We mused that maybe it's like ripping off a band aid. The soreness ALL OVER AGAIN is going to suck because we'd already worked so hard for everything we'd accomplished in our workouts then lost it all due to something beyond our control. It was after that conversation that I did the long MS workout and, the next day, the trampoline cardio. I was back! But then I had the saddest day yesterday. I only had one pair of jeans that fit. I'd gotten rid of the ones that were too big (these were just really baggy... that's why they were still around.) But then with the high dose steroids last year and 3 months of bed rest I gained 30 pounds and only this one pair of jeans still fit. I was NOT going to get another pair until I'd lost some of this weight... and then they ripped (just from being old and over-used for too long... I didn't bust out of them or anything.) So I had to go to Goodwill and get another pair of jeans... and it just made me feel so very sad that I had to get a size 16 again. I've been failing miserably on losing weight after the sinus tumor and the medications and trauma, and I don't know why! I feel like I should be losing, at minimum, a little bit of weight. Why won't my body cooperate? Why do I have these horrible cravings when I'm stressed? Why do I start out every day with good intentions and feel like a miserable failure by the end of the day, after failing yet again? This is why I hate buying clothes; it sends me in to such a depressive funk.

I'm actually not making up excuses to not workout today... I'm in a lot of pain from going hard and I know I just need to get my protein in and allow my body a couple of days to heal. I'll get there again with the workouts. I got there before, right? But why won't this weight budge? Even a little? I'm such a sad panda!

Thanks for listening to me, and I hope to hear from you guys soon. Have a great Friday!

Great job Pam!

I'm restarting Marki's 4 x 10 challenge today

Every day:

10 servings fruits/veggies
10 cups water
10 minutes TA exercise
10 minutes other exercise

at least I think that's what we did!

I have got to get back to exercising just a little...I think this goal is doable...wish me luck! emoticon

Hope everyone is having a great week and getting stronger by the day! emoticon

Just popping in for a quickie! emoticon I got my Tracy in today of almost an hour of MS with the new express video; however, I didn't make it through all the reps. I'm not back up to doing MS and cardio together yet, but I'm working towards it. And now even the government says 250 minutes of fitness are needed per week in order to induce noticeable changes. I'm certainly not back up to that much yet!

Did you guys know that Tracy has a new DVD coming out June 2 called Slim & Sculpt that utilizes the bands (like in teen meta)? Extra motivation coming our way!

Have a great hump day, team! We can do it!

emoticon Happy Tuesday everyone!

Go Team! emoticon

I love reading all your posts but no time for me to write right now! That will change - less than 5 weeks to go! Not exercising right now but I'm in constant motion all day long so weight is dropping little by little...might get back to goal weight in May!

Life is good - just insanely busy!

Pura Vida! emoticon emoticon

Back to work so Tata4now!

I'm glad you're starting to feel more comfortable with the Method! It really helps to learn about the moves first, before going into that territory of absolutely no instruction! And the Mat Workout also has instruction, so I believe you'll benefit from that as well. As for cardio, my preference is trampoline. Tracy has 2 trampoline workouts that were commercially produced plus one that was intended to be a gift, and never to be sold. That one is the Tel Aviv and you can find it on YouTube if you decide rebounding might be right for you.

From the workout I did yesterday I'm pretty sore in my core (all of it... abs, erector spinae, general low back.) I decided not to attempt to workout this morning when it hurt to roll over in the middle of the night, but it does appear that I accomplished my goal of not going too hard on my knee. It seems fine so far.

It sucks to be broke around our birthdays (my husband and I have birthdays 4 days apart.) We're not going to go hungry or anything (our pantry is always pretty full) but we won't be able to get each other gifts until the middle of May. (We had to pay off hospital bills then pay personal property tax, get Alex's driver's licence renewed, and inspections on the car. May 1 we'll pay for the tags and be done with the pressing expensive things for now.) I can't wait to have a financial breather next month and finally be able to do more fun things with our dough!

Anywhoo, it's that time again. I hope you all had an awesome weekend and are looking forward to a great week!

I can definitely sympathize with the knee pain :( I've had horrible pain since I was a teenager. Hope you start felling better!!!!

So I have done the beginner method workout 3 times this past week. She gives a lot more instruction which I so glad because I am finally starting to get it. It is so awkward the first time doing any of it...such weird moves! But I feel it the next day! My hips are starting to stretch which I am needing. I am waiting for my mat workout dvd to come so I am going to keep doing the beginner method workout #2 and 3 until it arrives.

Hope everyone had a good weekend! Excited for a new week! :)

Wow Marki, your injury story is much better than mine! Getting hit by a car can be really bad... other than your knee, how bad were your injuries? That sounds like it would absolutely suck! I'm glad you weren't left with worse problems, even though they're definitely bad enough. I'm sorry your knee brace doesn't help... if a brace doesn't do it, then it sounds like rest is the only thing left... and I know how that kills you because you're so active!

Today I finally was brave enough to get some Tracy in. It was about 35-40 minutes of MS. I didn't feel confident enough to attempt trampoline cardio with this whole knee issue. I did the newest one, Method Express, that has 6 10 minute segments. Then I fast forwarded (or, when possible modified) anything that stands on knees or is in plank position. As you ladies know, that takes out a lot, but I still had arms, some abs, and side lying or squatting legs. I chose to do the squatting or plie type work because I want to start giving my knees some work without causing a setback.

My husband's birthday was 2 days ago and mine is this Tuesday, so my nutrition has been sub-par. I will start getting back to no sugar after my birthday because there will be some form of gluten free cake (cheesecake or regular gluten free cake) that is always presented on birthdays. Getting old does suck, but I guess it beats the alternative!

I hope everyone had a good weekend, and I'm setting my intentions for a healthier week ahead than last week. I hope you all get the opportunity to do the same and I look forward to hearing from you all soon!

Happy Saturday!

Hope everyone is having fun this weekend. If so, have a little more for me. We are down to the wire, and it feels like we still have soooooooo much to do.

Pam, I have a friend that has to have knee surgery for her ACL (??). When I asked her how she injured herself she said, rolling over in bed emoticon Can you imagine? Crazy! My knee issues started after being hit by a car, while crossing in a crosswalk. I have a brace, but it doesn't really help. Taping works better, but it's such a pain, I don't do it as often as I should. But usually I just have to avoid major impact things like running or jumping on hard surfaces. But lately, I"m dealing with IT Band issues that are related to my tight hip flexors, and both are causing knee issues. Sucks getting old. emoticon

Well, break time is over. Back to packing. Do some extra Tracy for me too!

Marki, I know you've been having struggles with your knees as well! I know it's difficult to do ANYTHING with knee issues... moving must be really tough! First my knee swelled, then all the supporting muscles around it twitched for a couple of days, then it was stiff and hard to bend for a couple of days. I think it's on the mend now so I'm just doing less of things that I usually do, but still doing them (hip stretches, for example) to try to allow my knee to get back into the swing of things but not re-injure it. I don't even really know how it happened, but something not too special is the culprit. Are you bracing your knee while moving?

A friendly shout out to our new member! I forgot to tell you, I have my own playlist too. It is especially important for Meta... that techno music she has going on in the background would make me pull my hair out. I have a playlist for muscular structure (heavy percussion), one for cardio, and one for stretching. But Tracy's Mat Workout has awesome music all on it's own, so you might not need one for that.

Anywhoo, it's that time again... to get ready to go to hell...WORK! I MEANT WORK! Have a great weekend, team!

emoticon I love a great plan. emoticon

Oh Pam. Your poor knee! I know your pain and definitely sympathize. When I had tried to restart Meta a week or so ago, I did something weird to my knee too, I don't think it was during the workout but while doing something when we were packing. Stupid knees. Oh but Pam, my doctor had told me before that I keep having knee issues because I have tight hip flexors from sitting. So, maybe you should try some gentle hip stretches while you're recovering . Good luck. Hope you feel better soon.

Ok ladies, have a Happy Friday tomorrow. And if I don't get a chance to check in, have a fabulous weekend.

Mary, emoticon Hope you had a great week too.

Thank you both for your warm welcomes! I appreciate the tips. I am going to try the method for beginners today and see of that helps. I feel very overwhelmed and intimidated but I plan on sticking it out! I am going to add my music to the dance cardio---sounds more fun! I was having a hard time making it through even though I love to dance. I will let you know how it goes today!
Also-that would be amazing if you both restarted meta with m when I restart it!

I would like to extend a warm welcome to our newest member! Marki gave you some great advice. The Mat Workout is also my favorite all time Tracy video, plus on YouTube there are other short promo videos that Tracy has done; they also might help ease you into the Method without as much risk of an injury. Meta is really tough and you might be best served by getting some instruction first before jumping in. And if you're a reader Tracy has a book that you can pick up for a song on ebay. If you do take Marki's advice, I will also join you when you re-start Meta. I have the first 2 years collecting dust at the moment!

Marki, I don't have Netflix and that must be why I've never heard of Brain Games. But I know advertisers use some pretty dastardly deeds to get us to buy their products, so I'm going to have to watch some episodes on YouTube and see what exactly they've been doing to us! Also, I've always enjoyed psychology, so it should be a show I'll enjoy. I don't envy you staying at the gingerbread house... that would send me into a TOTAL tailspin! But you're strong, so just try to remember that when those yummy yet poisonous treats are staring you in the face!

I've been sidelined by a knee injury, so I've been out of the game for a bit. I keep injuring myself in the weirdest ways... nothing heroic or exciting... just small things. Today I'm going to try going without my knee support at work and see how I do. If it gets too hairy, I work at a desk so I can make other people do their own jobs rather than me doing them and running around the office like a recently escaped lunatic!

Speaking of which... it's time to go jump in the shower and get ready for work. I hope to hear from you guys soon... We can do it!!!

Hi!! Welcome to the team! Congratulations on surviving Day 1 of Meta! If Meta is your first Tracy workout, you should definitely give her Mat Workout a try for a few days or longer. I'd even suggest buying it. I think you can find it for $7 on Amazon. It's my absolute favorite Tracy workout. And I always return to the arm section for an extra burn.

The Method for beginners used to be available on YouTube. It's definitely worth watching. I bought it when it came out and I wished that I had been given all of the insights it contains before I started Meta.

If you decide to switch to the Mat Workout let me know when you're ready to start Meta again and I'll join you. I've been trying to start over but keep flaking.

The best Meta advice i ever got was not to stress over keeping up with Tracy. Just hit pause and go at your own pace. Also Tracy's come out with some better dance cardio DVDs Dance Plus Cardio and the new Dance Cardio for Beginners. But when doing Meta dance cardio, just use your own music and do your best to keep up and just keep moving. You'll eventually learn the moves. Jumping into the workout without instruction is like fitness for your brain. Good luck!

Hi! I started Meta Omni yesterday. Found it very difficult and I am super sore EVERYWHERE today! :) I thought it was very hard to follow along with Tracy and had to pay close attention when she changed moves. I am wondering if I should go to the Mat workout that is on youtube before I jump into Meta or should I just keep going with it?

Pam, once we get settled in CA, I definitely want to order your lotion stick. I'll try to remember to send you my email, or you can text me. I just SP mailed my number to you again, since I missed your SOS.

Monday is moving day. we'll be staying temporarily with my sister in Huntington Beach while we look for a place that will fit our budget and take our dog. The hardest part of staying with my sister is that my husband and I refer to her house as the gingerbread house. She and her husband have cookies, cakes, breads, and candy popping out of every cupboard you open. So, even though it's nothing that we'd crave or eat normally, it's much harder to say no, when it's right there, all the time. emoticon I'm hoping we find something really fast. Hopefully the perfect thing will open up on the 1st. I want to start a new Whole30 on the 4th and not being around all the sugar will make it so much easier.

Do you have Netflix? Brain Games is on Netflix or you can find full episodes on YouTube. I LOVE that show. It's crazy!!! Each episode covers different ways our brains work. And it's very enlightening. One episode was on how advertisers and marketing agencies use our brains to trick us into buying their products or different sizes. Not that you have a lot of free time, but next time you do, check it out. It's CRAZY!!!!

Ok. Packing break is over. Gotta run. The buyers are coming over tomorrow to measure things and I can't have my house a total mess.

Mary, emoticon

Marki, I'm sorry you've got to do a mulligan! I know you've been working at selling the house for a long time, but it's tough out there and even though people might really want and really love your house worry about what would happen if they lost their job or whatever. You'll get through it though, I know you! You're one tough cookie (but with a soft gooey center!) And you ARE getting your workouts in with all that packing! That is hard work and your muscles being sore are your proof!

I've never seen Brain Games, but it sounds like fun. I want to stress that I'm not trying to make anyone buy any of my products, but if you really want to (and no hard feelings if you don't!) I could send you a paypal request or whatever works with you and ship one to you. It's pretty chilly here so as long as it's not hot where you are that should work out fine; I designed the lotion sticks to melt into your skin... so they could get soft or melt if exposed to too much heat. And that would be awesome for us all to get together at a Tracy event or something! Maybe one day!

Btw, Tracy is on the cover of Health magazine for May. I'm on the lookout for it!

Mary, I hope all is going really awesome in your life and we all can't wait to hear all about your adventures!

Life has really been kicking my patootie lately. I'm trying to stay positive but I get triggered way too often. I swear I need a sponsor like they have at AA or NA!

I hope you all have a super awesome week and I look forward to hearing from you. Have a great one!

Happy Monday!

Mary, great to see you dropping by. Hope you're getting caught up on life. You son, must miss all your cooking and having you at all his games.

Pam, I'm sorry. I definitely like the concept of your product name, It was just a mental slow down, and a brain stall that took a second to get refocused on the positive concept. Have you seen Brain Games? It's crazy the short cuts our brains take. Please let me know how I can try your lotion stick. I would LOVE to buy some, and would feel lucky for the opportunity. Definitely, can't afford to hop on a plane and visit, although that would be fun too.

Ok. I was just taking a quick packing break. and wanted to say hi. Have to put my workouts on hold this week. No time and my muscles are sore from all the lifting. Maya 4th starts a complete do over.

Thanks for finding my products interesting, and I'm sorry you don't like the name. It came about because when asked to describe my products I'd always say they were 'crap free' and it just stuck; unfortunately, no I don't have a website. I thought when (if) my products ever took off that I would have one set up; I don't know how to do that sort of thing so I would probably have to pay someone else to do it. I had sunk so much money into the products already, and although everyone raves about them I just wasn't making that much off of them (my labor comes out to about minimum wage.) I have them priced not too high above the cost of ingredients (because I use high quality organic ingredients), packaging (that stuff's expensive!), and labels (the companies make you buy a lot at once.) I thought that if they became popular I would raise prices to something more reasonable and fair for me, but it never happened. If you ever decide to try something, the lotion stick is my most popular item, and is incredibly hydrating. It contains ingredients you've probably heard of (like jojoba oil and shea butter) but also some you might not have (like illipe and kokum butter.) It's $15, but I'm not trying to make you guys buy anything from me. When I gave it a go, I thought I had a chance of success because I believed that if I understood my chemistry and the way ingredients interact with each other and made the best thing out there that people would buy it. I even gave out gift bags that people raved about, and still rave about, but when it came down to paying for the next one... no dice. I was naive... or just plain stupid.

I'm sure you'll have no problems getting those 3 pounds off! You're right, a lot of this is getting our diets clean, and that's SO hard to do! And I hope your knee is feeling better today. A lot of Method and Simone is on hands and knees, so make sure you're careful and have a lot of padding underneath it! Please keep us updated about your house and know that you'll be in my thoughts!

Mary, I know you're very busy right now but I hope everything is going well for you!

Time to start getting ready for work. Have a great day!

Happy Tuesday!

emoticon on your order Pam. I remember when you would make your products to sell around Christmas or for yoga events. Your concoctions sounded AMAZING and I wished that I was there to buy some. I still wish you could take your product line to your local (or as local as you have) Whole Foods. I'm sure you'd sell out. Our WFs has a special section to support small local natural business startups, like you and your Krappe Phree. Although, I have to be honest, something about reading the name Krappe Phree was a little off-putting, even though logically I know it's a cute & cleaver wordplay. I think my brain focused and got stuck on the word Krappe and the positive combination didn't register automatically. Have you ever watched Brain Games? I love that show. Anyway, do you have a link for your products? I'd love the opportunity to check them out, and give them a try.

Oh, and thank you. you're right, probably because I hadn't read Simone's book, I didn't understand what you were saying about the cleanse and her program. Thanks for clearing that up. I still want and need to finish reading it, and plan on checking out her TV channel again, now that you've cleared up that you stream it to your TV too. I thought it was only available on the computer and my eyes aren't good enough for that. emoticon

Hope your feeling better today. I'm suffering with you, with scale fluctuation too. I started Meta over again on Sunday, and thought I was eating better, but my scale says I"m up 3 pounds this morning emoticon I"m not going to stress over it though. I just have to eat real food, and stick to the workout plan. I haven't solidified a real "Freedom Challenge" yet, but just starting Tracy over again is a good start for now. Hopefully my knee holds for the duration. It's pretty tender today.

Mary, thanks for popping in. Sounds like you've got so much going on. Great job, keeping yourself on your list. I know it's not your A game, but considering everything you've got going on, I'd give you an A.

Ok, I'm off. So much to figure out today. I need to go workout for the stress relief. We're in such limbo today. Our buyers were supposed to lift the contingency yesterday, but didn't. So, now we have no idea where we go from here. Escrow was supposed to close on the 22n'd, giving us 10 days to pack, but there's no way we can start packing while the sale is still contingent and not pending. So WTH!!! We can walk away from the deal, but then we have to start over from scratch, which will suck. I guess we have to say a prayer and trust in God that things will work out the way they are intended.

Have a great day everyone, and a fabulous week! I'll be thinking of you, and will try to check in tomorrow.

Marki

Mary, hi tootsie! It's good to hear from you and that things are going, for the most part, well for you! We all have busy times in our lives but yours sounds exciting and we can't wait to hear about it! Good job on the pound down emoticon Personally I'm menstrual at the moment so the scale is all over the place, so I don't know how bad it is. I'll be up 4 lbs one day and be back down the next. I'm glad I only have 4 a year!

Marki, I must not have been clear, so I apologize. I read Simone's book cover to cover but I didn't do the 'cleanse' because I didn't want to be that hungry constantly (it sure LOOKS a lot like a 700-900 calorie per day diet!) and I didn't work out to the book because that's not how I operate best. I signed up for Simone's website for a month instead (which has A LOT of content) and streamed it to my TV.

I've been MIA for a few days because my 'side business', if you can even call it that, finally got an order! [I make natural products for myself, utilizing the highest quality ingredients from all over the world. I am very sensitive to chemicals and, for example, I have to avoid using the bathroom in stores and gas stations. If I do, I use an alcohol based hand sanitizer instead of their soap because I will get a rash on my hands that looks like poison ivy if I use random soaps. So I thought other people would love these too... and they do. But when they run out of their sample that they raved over, they won't BUY it! But they'll keep raving about how much they loved it!] Anywhoo, a guy my husband used to work with ordered a lotion stick, under eye cream, facial serum, lip balm, yoga mat spray, foaming hand soap, and laundry detergent. I also provided a 4 oz sample of my Uplifting bath oil. Of course my stepdaughter wanted lotion sticks and laundry detergent too and I had an under eye cream, lip balm, and 4 oz bath oil left and gave her those too. I'd been putting in an hour here or there, but wasn't making enough headway in time to get the order filled, so I worked about 11 hours on Sunday to get it finished, so I haven't had time for anything else. But it was the first order Krappe Phree had gotten in months so I was very grateful to get it!

Regarding the yoga, Anusara has always been my favorite. It's basically Iyengar without the a$$hole element (that guy was the biggest jerk ever!) but the yoga studio in the area was the Dynamic Method. I don't have a lot of other experience in other kinds, although I've tried a few. I never got to look at your videos because I received the order and have been working plus filling the order for Krappe Phree. This week I'll get back to it, though!

Have a great week, team!

My work life is crazy right now but that's a good thing! Sad thing is no time for Sparking or traveling with son's basketball team or leaving work to feed son an after school meal or feed myself at work (I have to sneak into the warehouse & eat & it's been 3pm lately before I have the chance to do that!) On my feet all day - no chance to sit at computer & spark while I eat like I did before...good news is down a pound this week!... Managing 10 min TA & 30 min JS challenge at night...but poor doggie is not getting mid day walk & son getting himself pizza or Chickfila for afternoon meal instead of healthy "mom food" - so feeling bad for my boys - just gotta hang in until May 31 & things will totally change! So no challenge commitments from me til then unless it's 30 min or less per day! But I'd love to hear about what y'all are doing! This is long enough... I'm on my phone...I'll try to post from a computer soon & fill you in on how my life is changing!

Pam, that yoga practice is Kundalini yoga???? Do you know anything about that style? I saw a few videos on youtube and it's lots of breathing and chanting, not the typical yoga moves that I'm used to seeing.

My goal for this weekend is to find time to really read Simone's book. Starting tomorrow, we have 12 weeks until the 4th of July. emoticon I think I'm going to push myself and restart Meta tomorrow.

Mary, hope you've had a great week. emoticon

Happy Friday! Have a fabulous weekend! emoticon

Pam, I haven't tried the yoga yet. It's breathing and contractions. I saw she had a few other videos. One was titled the U breath. They definitely seem like she's getting into the spiritual side or deeper yoga beliefs and how it heals the mind, body, and sprit.

So, it sounds, like you got the book, but haven't really read the book either emoticon I was hoping you'd be able to explain the entire 8 week program. I wasn't sure what to expect from a book program either. I'm definitely not interested in counting or restricting calories. I want to continue to focus on the power of inclusion. water, veggies, fiber. And avoidance of sugar, processed crap, chemicals, and grains. And I need to check out her exercises. Because at least Tracy's book came with the exercises on a DVD. Oh well. I'm sure if we all put our heads together, we can come up with an 8 week challenge that can help bring us back around to our A games. emoticon

Walking, Rebounding, Mat workout. today. Feeling good.

Sorry, I responded this morning but the computer ate it and I didn't have time to re-do it emoticon I'm fortunate to have sparkfriends who are generous with their time and sweet with their words emoticon I will look up your link when I get home because I'm curious what this gal has to offer. There are SO many kinds of yoga, and some practices are much more than postures. Of course when I was a younger gal (also thinner, smarter, prettier, and indestructible... were you those when you were young too?) I was really only into how flexible I could get (because I really looked up to the cheerleaders and my mother never let me try out) but now that I'm no longer any of those things I'm very interested to see what else there might be to help us out there. Have you tried it yet?

And I did get the book. I actually got two because my first book got lost in the mail so they sent me another... then the first one eventually arrived. Simone was with Tracy in the old days when a lot of the content was being created... it was just a case in which these two gals couldn't get along. But if you like the Method, it's just like new Tracy material (and some is exactly the same.) I would be up to a challenge but I've never worked out with just a book before. So that would be a challenge in and of itself! And if Mary needs a book I could mail her the spare one I have. The 'cleanse', she stresses, is NOT a diet... but it SOUNDS a lot like a diet... low calorie, low quick carbs, small portions... so we would need to discuss if we want to take that on. I heard it's 700-900 calories a day and there is a lot of exercise so I'm not sure I really want to do the 'cleanse' but we could discuss it and decide if that's right for us. Simone also has her website that is under $10 per month that you can stream with all kinds of cardio like dance and trampoline, and MS that some is normal and some is too crazy hard for me right now. So that could be an option too.

I really appreciate having such great gals for support! Well, I'd better get back to work because lunch is over. I hope you guys finish out the week strong!

Pam, Thanks for trying to be so considerate, but don't worry. I'm never too busy, or too wrapped up in myself that I wouldn't make time to help a friend. So if you ever feel you need help, don't be afraid to reach out. emoticon Just remember, the time difference emoticon I have a SP friend that lives in Illinois, and she always texts me in the morning, when she gets up, which usually is around 3:30 a.m my time. emoticon I don't care but my husband gets annoyed.

So I messed up on the title, and the spelling. It's called the Body Locks by Carolyn Cowan
www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2pE7ZMHwJ8 I guess she teaches a seminar and the video is a technique she's sharing from her program.

I'm new to yoga, and still discovering the meaning of the chanting and poses, and the different types.

Oh. And Pam, have your read that 8 week body make over book yet? I bought it, I've looked at it, but I haven't really looked at her 8 week program. But I was thinking that maybe we could look at her program and see if we could make it work for us, as a team, and kick May off with an 8 week challenge. Or we could start sooner, and try to see how many weeks we can get in to have our challenge end on July 4th. It will feel amazing to celebrate our success with fireworks don't you think? Mary what do you think? I'll send you a copy of the book, (if Pam says it's any good, since I haven't really read it yet) Then we can all do it.

So, this week has started off well, and I"m heading to bed feeling content with the choices I made today. Hope you both and all if there's anyone else out there, are having a great week too.
emoticon

Marki, it's good to hear from you! Don't beat yourself up because you enjoyed one of your favorite holidays! (In my home we honor the spring equinox on Easter because, even though it's a few days off, it's easier to do it when everyone else is celebrating something.) Honestly I didn't reach out to you personally because you're in the middle of a huge life change and I don't think it's fair to expect you to halt this huge project to deal with a chronic condition that belongs to someone else. I hit the panic button because it's advertised as this great thing for immediate help. However, it didn't feel like 'help' for someone to be really rude on the board. And since there were only about 2 or 3 responses... I mean... WOW!

I've never heard of the yoga technique you're referring to. I'm open to anything that would help, though. I tried googling it but nothing came up. I'll have to try to find the video on youtube you're referring to. Of course I have to go start getting ready for work right now so it will have to be when I have more time...

Mary, darling! How was your weekend? You're my super trooper! And AWESOME job on your work lunches. Work always seems to be hard to get on point food wise, but adding extra veggies to something frozen is A LOT better than many alternatives... you're one resourceful gal emoticon

I hope you gals had a humane Monday. Toodles!

Happy Monday! Hope you both had a great weekend, and happy Easter.

I need to figure out what's going on with my notifications. I hadn't seen that anyone had replied since my last post, yet here you both have been, and I was the one MIA. emoticon

Pam, I sent you my cell number in that message with my house link. You should have sent me a panic button text. I would have been there. emoticon Pam, you're a yogi, and I saw this thing on YouTube, a quick clip on how to Locke ??? The instructor says you can use the method to help you beat addictive urges. She mentioned you could even do it sitting at your desk. She wasn't one of my regular subscriptions, just one of YouTube's suggestions for me. White haired lady. I'll look for it today. But have you ever heard of using yoga that way?

Mary, crazy busy weekends? Did you ever share your exciting news about life changes??? It's ok, if you're not ready to share yet, I'm just asking since I keep popping in and out, I'm not sure if I've missed it. I can relate to that B game feeling, but I have to commend you, because your B game is way better than most A games. emoticon

Ok. Today is a new day one. Yesterday, was a self induced sugar binge day for me. Easter has always been one of my favorite holidays, I was so sad that our last Easter in our fabulous house with our fabulous egg hunting yard, was so quiet. Logically of course I couldn't have handled party planning, but it just didn't feel like Easter so I baked a half batch of sugar cookies and they were done and ready to eat before any of the real food I was cooking. Woke up bloated and feeling so hungover. But trust me no alcohol was consumed. Just sugar cookies. emoticon

Have a great day! New week! emoticon

Mary, I very much needed someone in my corner! You are really just the best! emoticon I like stewed tomatoes over the rice or putting it in that awesome pureed soup (roasted carrots and caramelized onions with spices and stock) but I'm sure you can come up with a couple of more outstanding ways to use it as well. I know how to take pictures with my phone but I don't know how to send them emoticon so I don't know if I'll be able to send the photo of the shopping cart, but it's a great idea! But I'll definitely have to be strong this weekend when I'm doing groceries.

I'll admit that I haven't been working out much... but I have been having sore muscle groups almost daily (shoulders, abs, calves...) I turn 38 this month... and have you heard the rumor about women's sex drive changing at that age? I never thought much of it because I thought it was only a rumor. It isn't. emoticon About 3 or 4 weeks ago I had this sudden change and now I have the hormones of a teenager and have been doing the 'married couple' workout about 5 or 6 days a week! I don't think you can log that as exercise... but it really kinda is emoticon There's all kinds of cardio and all the isometric work emoticon but I do need to get back to a regular routine.

I got a couple of pieces of new workout clothes; a black and white Calvin Klein top with a shelf bra and a really good quality white Under Armour sports bra. I got them at TJ Maxx, so I didn't need to take out a loan or anything emoticon Yes, I need BOTH when rebounding! But who on the planet wants a white sports bra? Nobody! That's why it was on clearance sale... and I figure that's what dye is for! My new white sports bra is now a GORGEOUS violet, and I intend to take them out on a test drive this morning on the trampoline. I don't know how long I will last (I'm out of practice!) but it seems like a good way to start the morning!

Things are definitely starting to look up for me, and I'm really thankful to have all the support you've shown me. I don't know if I could have pulled myself out of the funk without help emoticon Have a super day!

emoticon Pam!!!

Time well spent yesterday emoticon emoticon !!!

I'm definitely going to check out that rice method!!! You know what goes great with rice? Veggies!!!! emoticon

Keep up the great work! I challenge you to 2 days in a row of healthy food choices! Don't forget to win the battle at the grocery store! emoticon Take pictures of your shopping cart & add them to your posts! (I used to do that & text to my buddy who started this journey with me.). We need to be proud & celebrate every time we win a battle! Right now I'm celebrating 7 days in a row of morning exercise!

Mary, it's so awesome to have a consistent Spark friend that I can count on when I need support! And I think you're right. Yesterday, on my day off, I spent a good part of the day prepping some good healthy food that I like. It takes forever to make, and clean up, but after you do it it's a very quick grab and go for nutrient packed, tasty food. I made a pureed soup (roasted carrot and caramelized onion with tons of spices and beef stock) and some rice with the new method. Apparently some scientists were bored and were thinking it would be awesome if rice wasn't so high in quick carbs and calories, so they decided to do something about it. They figured out that by adding a tspn of coconut oil to rice on a slow simmer for 40 minutes then refrigerate for no less than 12 hours it would chemically convert the rice and slash the carbs and calories by about a third. Seriously, look this up! All the science magazines did stories on this! Once it's converted, it can't be reversed, so you can reheat the rice with no problems. If you like rice, you have to google this!

Anyway, I brought some of the carrot soup and rice and a Tracy shake with 1% milk (I just can't get in to skim!) and have done very well with my nutrition today. Thanks so much for your support! emoticon I hope you're having a great day too!

Pam you're not crazy...you're just not pampering yourself from the inside so your body keeps craving more food...you're feeding yourself empty calories instead of superfoods packed with nutrition...that's exactly what I used to do...feed myself a cheesy bowl of pasta with no veggies & be starving 20 minutes later...

Try to take healthier options to work to munch on at your desk...maybe make yourself tuna or chicken salad or hummus & take carrots/celery/cucumber slices for dipping...tangerines, apples, grapes instead of sweets...a few nuts along with fruit can make it more filling...6 almonds = 42 calories,
8 pistachios = 34 calories...it's o.k. to snack often just arm yourself with healthy snacks instead of junk...

Now I must confess that I'm on my B game right now...on A game I eat whole foods prepared by me...lately I've been eating a frozen Healthy Choice at lunch almost every day...I pick ones without pasta & I add 3 servings of frozen veggies (today mixed peppers, mushrooms & Brussels sprouts) & mix it all together...not delicious but easy, edible (if I add some of my seasoning) & filling & helps me get my veggies in...I hope to find my A game soon but this is working to give me more free time to increase exercise & get the scale moving the right way!

Pam - getting started is the hardest part! If you can find the strength to string a few good nutrition days together I think you'll feel better & your outlook will totally change! As always - much easier said than done! But you know you have strength! My goodness you quit gluten cold turkey!!!! Only a very strong person can do that!

Marki...what great news that your doggie will get certificate soon! Yikes! Very hot there! 76 here today...was in the 30s Sunday morning...seems like we're going straight from winter to summer!

Have a great evening!

Mary
