Hey ladies! I'm SOOOOOOOOO sorry that I've been MIA again emoticon But this is the last time. I pinky swear. I'm going to send each of you a Spark mail with my cell phone number so you can text me whenever you need support, or call if you need to vent BUT no pressure to do either. I just hate that my computer time is limited and until I spring for new cell phone I can't spark from my phone like I used to do.

So here's the scoop. My house goes back on the market tomorrow. I'm both happy and sad that my new realtor is SO MUCH better than my old realtor. We've had 3 showing already and my house wasn't even on the market yet. I'll put the link to my virtual tour in the SP message so that you both can see all the hours of painting I've done to make my house look fresh and clean.

Pam, I ordered that book and it arrived. So now I can follow along with you. So far I haven't had time to open it yet. But I love owning it.

Mary you absolutely did the right thing with your son's team. . A commitment is a promise and you're only as good as your word, right? I hope that coach sends you a message to make you feel better, because it would have been so wrong for you and your son to let down the other team

Well tomorrow is a new day. So hope you both and any other Tracy team members out there have a fabulous day. We can do this! I'm off to send you both those SP messages

Hey everybody! emoticon

It's me, Mary. Don't be confused by my new profile photo...Changed my profile pick to last year's travel team! This is usually a fun time of year...transition from high school basketball to travel basketball and get to reconnect with coaches, players and parents that we don't see much of when it's not travel season (last year 10 players from 8 different area schools)...but this past week has been more stress than fun because Joe's high school coach called me to say he was going to coach a travel team of 10th graders this year and wanted Joe to play for him...well we had already committed to the other coaches and I'm team mom again this year so I had to tell the 6' 7" Irish Catholic New Yorker coach that Joe won't be playing on his travel team...I emailed him the news on Sunday and he hasn't responded...yikes...but even if this costs Joe a spot on the varsity team next year (which another mom told me she thinks will happen) it was the right thing to do...(but it's still giving me a huge headache because I tend to over-react to things that involve my kiddo!)...hopefully coach will send a very gracious response in a day or so and I will feel better about the whole situation...

Pam I tried to post a reply to you on Friday at work...had it all typed out then got interrupted and by the time I got back to the computer it had timed out and my post was lost...and it was time to close up and go home...I don't think I had a chance to log onto Spark all weekend...busy with basketball stuff...concessions shifts at high school and helping with sign-ups at travel ball tryouts...

I know you struggle getting your veggies in but I find it's really key for me to keep the cravings away...on Friday I was going to suggest that you make some batches of stews/soups/chilis over the weekend to have on hand...but now your weekend is gone! but if you're off tomorrow maybe you can do it then...if you want to post what you're making I can maybe give you some suggestions to up the veggies in the recipes...or if you want to post a list of vegetables you find tolerable I can try to give you ideas for ways to prepare them!

Hope you're still getting your workouts in! I haven't gotten much of anything done since last Friday...need to find some motivation somewhere! Low energy...probably because of the basketball drama emoticon I really need to do some yoga, breathe and put things in perspective...if I'm going to have a problem this is an awfully good one to have...my kid is healthy enough to play sports and two teams want him and both of the teams have amazing coaches...just so hard having to tell one team "no thank you"...

School cancelled here today...freezing rain and/or snow was forecast but temp stayed at 33 so no ice so far! Wouldn't have minded seeing a few snowflakes though emoticon - it's been a long time!

Enjoy your Tuesday evening and have a great Wednesday!

Mary

I'm doing pretty well with Simone's MS workouts; I just don't know when I should challenge my ankle to get started back on the trampoline cardio. I've been having a really rough time with food lately, and the scale shows it. I'm just not sure how to help myself help myself, especially without a lot of support. I look forward to hearing from you guys soon!

Happy President's Day!

Pam I sure hope you get some better sleep tonight! Sorry about your ankle and calf - take care of them! Great job with your BBS! Look forward to hearing about the book!

Marki I hope your hubbie had a great round! I'm sure your doggie loved the cookies!

I'm still low energy but hoping to get myself moving again soon.

Happy Monday, team!

We happen to be in the middle of a snowstorm, so I don't have to go in to work today. I'm really glad because last night was soooo rough for me. It took forever to get to sleep and I was having to pull out every trick in the book to finally do so... if ever was a 'good' day for me to be snowed in it's DEFINITELY when I didn't get much sleep the night before.

Happy anniversary Marki! Alex and I have our 10th coming up this May. As far as the BBS TV streaming goes, it works however you do your streaming to your TV. For me, I stream it from my laptop to the TV; however I know there are many ways to do it. It depends on how you have it set up in your house. BTW, I FINALLY got the book! I actually think that the merchant is sending me another one because this one had gotten lost in the mail (tracking just stopped... for like A WEEK!) So it looks like I might end up with a spare. Today I'll get a chance to do some reading after my workout.

I forgot to tell you guys that I twisted my ankle a few days ago (not while working out) so the ankle is injured and it also pulled my calf when it happened... so no trampoline cardio until it heals a little; but I can do most MS work without any issues. And Simone has been kicking my butt! She will do something a little different than Tracy and I'll think "why didn't I think of that? That's such a good idea!" but then I realize that it's because I work as a receptionist, not a creative fitness professional! For example, when she does trampoline cardio she instructs you to wear wrist weights so that the arm choreography is doing more than just elevating your heart rate, but also helping you get a genuine arm workout in! In this example, the only difference is the wrist weights but it makes all the difference in the world. I've also been doing the 14 minute stretch routine after my workout so Simone is helping eliminate some of my bad habits (like not stretching after working out.) I'm really enjoying her, but I still heart Tracy! I still google Tracy like some weird stalker because she has the most fun, interesting life and since she's been training me in my living room for a couple of years I almost feel like I 'know' her.

Anywhoo... have a great week all! I hope you get your veggies and workouts in!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

Today is my wedding anniversary and my gift to my husband is to let him spend the day with his mistress (golf) emoticon Living so close to "sin city" with strippers and legal prostitution it's so nice that my only competition for my husband's affection is a golf course. emoticon

Pam I'm going to look for the book on amazon and check out the BBS tv. Can you actually watch it on your TV. It won't do me any good if I can only access it from our computer. I don't get enough computer time lately as it is.

Mary, I hope you feel better soon. I definitely think the veggies make a big difference.

Maureen, hope you're better by now too.

Gotta run, I'm baking heart shaped cookies for the only other love of my life. Our dog. emoticon emoticon

Mary, sweetie, I'm sorry you're not feeling well! It sounds like you're on the right track, though, by focusing on nutrition and sleep. Maybe you could consider a high quality multi vitamin as well?

Marki, I've experienced the same thing you're talking about... I guess I still kinda am. It's so hard to start back after illness or injury because your body likes routine and it's new routine is to not be working out and here you are, changing your body's routine by starting your workouts again! Before I got sick last year a normal workout for me was 1 1/2 hours (45 min MS and 45 min trampoline cardio) and on days I felt like superwoman I'd do 2 hours (1 hour of MS and 1 hour of trampoline cardio.) After all my body went through last year, currently my record is 69 minutes. But you and I are a pair of determined gals, and we'll get there!

As far as the Body by Simone book goes... I still don't have it. Tracking was a bear to find, but when I did, it said the book was shipped A MONTH FROM NOW and I should get it by September 2. I sent the seller (an online bookstore) an unpleasant e-mail and they said it was clearly an error and would get another one shipped out. In the meantime I've been reading snippets of her book on Amazon with the 'look book' feature. Many pages are excluded, but I can get my fix until I can get my book!

Do you guys notice all the awesome shirts Tracy wears with positive messages on them like 'love yourself' and 'be YOU tiful'? The brand is called Good Hyouman and I finally ordered one of their long sleeve tees. They're expensive, but I swear they are the softest shirts you've ever touched! I'd been checking into the brand and everyone says the sizes run really small so order a size up; so I did that and ordered an XL. I am currently looking into any method I can to try to shrink the shirt because it fits EXACTLY like an XL (imagine me wearing a circus tent. Wait... don't imagine that. Well, too late, I guess you already did emoticon ) If I can't get it to shrink I'll just call it 'oversize' and make sure I order a smaller size next time!

I don't know if any of you guys have signed up for BBS TV yet, but that girl is kicking my butt! I'd been doing much of the same with Tracy... you know how you get into a routine where you mostly do your favorite few? Well, I can't do that with Simone's stuff because she's hitting different angles and using some props and all that... so I'm definitely feeling it! I'm having a really good time with it though... doesn't that sound weird coming from me? I currently have a weekly goal of 3.5 workout hours... but in the interest of full disclosure... that has also been including the 14 minute stretch segment.

It's just about time for me to get started on my workout this morning, actually. Have a great Friday, team!

emoticon Hi Team!

Uggh...yesterday I came down with the cold that has been torturing my poor boy for more than a week...congestion, cough, sore throat, headache and body aches that made me worry it might be flu...not great sleep last night but slept in til almost 10 this morning and came to work late... that extra sleep really helped...I'm not achy today so I'm hoping I'm already on the way to recovery...

Marki I've been hitting the veggies hard today trying to give my body all the vitamins and antioxidants it needs to beat this bug! I had been slacking off on my veggie intake and I think that may have made me more susceptible to the virus than I am when I'm on my "A" game nutritionally...I know better and I love veggies...just lazy and not putting the time in to prepare them...

Pam - you are really racking up the fitness minutes! emoticon So glad you found some great variety that you enjoy!

You too Marki! Soreness means you're working those muscles! Just make sure you let them recover enough before torturing them again!

I'm going to check out Simone, P57 and the foam roller videos!

Maureen hope you're feeling better!

Keep moving everyone! emoticon

Mary

Let's try this again! I was using the crappy laptop and was almost done writing my post when that computer decided to eat it. I made my husband fork over the good one. Anywhoo... I ordered my Body by Simone book almost a week and a half ago and haven't received it yet (BUMMER!) but I already signed up for her streaming service http://www.bodybysimone.com/
It's only $9.99 per month with no contract. It's called BBS TV and has beginner and advanced material as well as trampoline cardio, dance cardio, toning with and without light weight, and even a breakdown of the dances and a 14 minute stretch. You pick what you want from the video menu and basically customize your workout for level, time, and what you want to work on any given day. Since Simone teaches, for all intents and purposes, the same method, you'll probably like the exercises even though they are slightly different. I got pretty sore because on Sunday I did 69 minutes and on Monday I did 65... but will all this new content I'm finding it to be a lot of fun and want to keep trying other segments! She does use a little more equipment, but it's nothing expensive or exotic and you probably have most of it, anyway. Simone utilizes a mat, a trampoline, wrist and ankle weights, light weights, resistance bands, a chair, a pilates ball, and a really big ball. This inexpensive equipment helps Simone reach the areas she wants to get to a little easier. However if you don't have something you need yet you can do the workouts that don't require any equipment, or just what you already have, until you get anything you need. The only thing I didn't have is the pilates ball and I've got one ordered. Simone is also a talker so you get verbal instruction and she usually plays her own music very low so that you can put on your playlist while working out with her. If you're on the fence at all about it, I would say to jump right over that fence and give Simone a try.

DISCLAIMER: I still love Tracy, though!

Have a great week everyone!

Happy Tuesday!

Mary I'm glad you have more energy again. emoticon Those cheers crack me up! That's just awesome! How exciting that your son has so many colleges interested in him. You have to be a very proud mama! Congratulations!

Pam, how exciting! Thanks for sharing the info on Semone. Would you mind posting a link to her web address for me. Please please pretty pretty please emoticon Can't wait to hear all about her book once you're done with it.

Maureen, I'm so sorry you've been sick. Hope you're having a much better week.

My body is SCREAMING at me. I just can't believe how sore I am from taking time off. It so crazy the way Tracy's program works. The good news is a found a new foam roller video on YouTube. It's really helping me relieve some of this soreness.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=okAAOH2OAX8

Oooh. And I'm such a shining object chaser/ Fitness DVD addict that I'm always tempted to buy new programs, but I have to force myself to stay focused on Tracy, BUT this weekend I discovered that one of youtube channels I subscribe to has posted some Physique 57 workouts. I'm so excited to be able to check them out without buying them. Although from what I've seen (while drinking my morning coffee, HA!) they look like they get your heart rate up for a more intense low impact workout. Here's the link to one of them if you've never seen a P57 workout either.

Ok, I'm off to cook up some yummy veggies. My body is craving those things. I'm surprised by what a difference eating all those veggies has on how I feel.

emoticon DS has kept me quite busy lately! All good stuff, but the time I usually use to join the team has been taken up by reading all the emails I've been getting from colleges that are interested in him (they recently got their PSAT scores), volunteering in concessions, cheering during games, etc!

Friday night his school played their arch rival... it was a packed house!...the games didn't go well for the home team (us) but I think we won the battle of the student body chants! They cracked me up! (My son goes to a public high school for smart kids. We played a private school.)

The other team started chanting: Nerds! Nerds! Nerds! Nerds!

Our kids responded: Hey Hey what do you say - You're going to work for us one day!

The other team: We just swept you! We just swept you!

Our kids: We use vacuums! clap-clap, clap-clap-clap We use vacuums!

then later G P A, G P A!

I'm glad they take pride in their nerdiness!

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend! I paddled, walked & biked today...gorgeous weather here! Had to get outside

Hope your weekends were great!

Mary

Hey guys! It's been a really busy week for me. I've not been keeping up with my workouts too well so far this week, but this morning I got 23 minutes of MS work in. Hopefully I'll make up some of my lost time at the tail end of this week. I also found out that one of Tracy's former trainers Simone de la Rue wrote a book (that you can pick up for a song on ebay) and has her website that's only $9.99 per month. She will never replace Tracy for me, but I think will be a source of fresh content because it's pretty much exactly the same workouts. And that should be really helpful for me because Tracy doesn't have a lot of trampoline cardio workouts (only three) and I can get some more from Simone and get a little more variety.

I hope you guys all have had a stronger start of the week than I have and together let's all finish the week out strong!

Hey All!

Marki - great to see you back! So glad you have the all clear!!!

Maureen - So sorry you had the flu but way to jump back on the exercise!!!

Pam - you still rocking it?!!!

I'm kind of in a low energy funk that I really need to pull myself out of or the scale is going to start going the wrong way! I like to eat emoticon !

I'll have an hour or so "home alone" tonight (which is unusual)...really hoping that I can make myself do some Tracy or other strength during that time emoticon

Keep posting what you're doing! It's hard for me to push myself to the point of soreness - but a little easier if I know I'm not the only one suffering emoticon

Have a great Tuesday!

Mary

thanks ladies for all your feedback. I am moving forward with the workout that is difficult (for that one exercise only) and find that I am getting better at it each day. I got the flu so didn't work out for a week. Will now do 10 days on this dvd and then move on. BUT, I also am taking the balance exercise from the prior workout and doing that in addition. Will keep you all posted. so happy to find there are others out there who love Tracy.

Hi! I'm so glad to see you both! emoticon

Mary, emoticon emoticon emoticon on your 1/2 marathon! That's just amazing! And I'm with Pam. You definitely don't need to keep your fabulous goals and achievements to yourself just because, I'm hurt. You help me stay inspired.

I'm also so sorry about your friend's son's passing. 17 is definitely too young. emoticon

Pam, keep up the great work! You're an inspiration too!

Maureen, emoticon I'm glad you decided to drop by and post. I'm sure you've made your decision by now. Pam gave you some good advice, but, I would have encouraged you to move on. Tracy believes in performance not perfection. I always do my best with each exercise, and then at the end of the 10 days, I let it go. No looking back. The next group of exercises always seem to work my body in a completely different way anyway. But that's just me and right now, I'm dealing with injuries (non Tracy related)

So, that's why I haven't been around lately ladies. My doctors are doing more testing because of my weird muscle issues, and on top of that I've been having an elevated heart rate., not related to exercise or activity, or my husband being near by. emoticon

So, I wasn't allowed to workout, but I got the all clear yesterday, so I'm getting back to the program today.

We're also prepping the house to go back on the market. Hopefully I can keep up with the cleaning and my workouts. emoticon

Happy Saturday!

Marki

Mary, congratulations on your amazing accomplishment! emoticon I'm so proud of you! emoticon Btw, you never need to not talk (to me at least) about your journey just because I had a hiccup in mine. I get excited to hear about every victory, large or small, that my fellow sparkers achieve. emoticon I really wish I liked running, but I don't. My stepdaughter does, and it seems to make getting in her workouts just a little bit easier. I do Tracy because I was one of those gals who had an entire shelf of fitness DVD's, all of which I dreaded and ended up not doing because I just hated it. I also tried fitness classes, gyms, and running, but I couldn't find anything I could get in to. After trying a million different things, I saw Tracy's infomercial. I was not very hopeful, but I ordered it on QVC (because you DO NOT want to get in one of those databases where they keep sending you things you didn't order!) and I knew from prior experience that QVC stood behind their 30 day guarantee. I finally found something I didn't hate or dread, so I next went to ebay and order a few more and then a few more until I now have quite a collection. But since Tracy's prescription is 1-2 hours of exercise per day, 6-7 hours per week (6 to 14 hours a week!) and I'm not at that fitness level, it's hard to know what I SHOULD aim for.

It sounds like you live in a beautiful area! The paddle boarding and birds sounds like a lot of fun. Where I live (the St. Louis area) it's really challenging to do much outside. Both summers and winters are very harsh, but I do like to walk the trails in the historic cemetary, right behind my apartment complex, during the narrow windows of opportunity between seasons.

To the rest of the team, I hope you're having a fabulous week and get a chance to stop by soon!

Thank you Pam.

I find it really hard to stick to any one program...I like to mix things up...I don't think I told y'all because you and Marki were both battling injuries but back in November I started training to run a half-marathon...crazy at my age but another friend was talking about it so I thought why not give it a shot...the race was last Saturday (the 18th) and I did it! While training I was doing short runs on Tues/Thurs and a long run on Saturday...adding length each week...

well my friends' son died on Sunday and I couldn't muster up any energy last week but tomorrow I'm going to try to get back to running on Tues/Thurs/Sat...I still usually manage 30-60 minutes of walking each day...walking is still my #1 cardio emoticon

still trying to do at least 15 minutes of yoga at bedtime...but that didn't happen last week either...and I need to get back to Tracy or some other form of strength! but don't have plan right now!

I did get out for a nice long slow paddle yesterday, the air was amazing, took lots of long deep breaths, felt so good...managed to snap photos of an egret and a pelican with my phone so I made them my profile pic...

Now I need to catch up on all the work I put off last week...could only manage to do what HAD to be done but not what SHOULD have been done...so back to working I go!

Have a great Monday!

Mary

Mary, I'm so sorry to hear that. emoticon I understand why you haven't felt your sparkiest this week. As we get older, we tend to end up going to more funerals, but one memory stands out as the worst one I've ever been to. It was a teenage cousin of mine who had been hit by a car, and I'd never before and never since experienced a funeral in which everyone lost it like that. My thoughts are with you as you go through this difficult time and help this family with a devastating loss. emoticon I'm proud of you that you haven't forgotten to take care of yourself, too.

I had set a very ambitious goal this week of 210 fitness minutes that I did not reach. I did, however, get 185 minutes (a record for me since my recovery, but ended up pretty sore.) I feel since Tracy's prescription is 1-2 hours 6-7 days per week, I likely will not ever be one of her star pupils. I'm sure that anyone who follows that would reach their body goals, but for the rest of us... I'd be interested in knowing what you guys use as your process to decide on how far to push yourselves. Do you shoot for her suggestion or do you try for something else?

Hey Pam emoticon

Sounds like you're really getting into your workouts! emoticon

A tough week here...some friends lost their 17 year old son. I haven't felt very sparky but I have been pretty good with my nutrition...logging on to Spark to track to make sure I don't under-nourish and end up sick...

Have a great weekend!

Good morning team!

I FINALLY broke down and edited my workout playlist for time; I needed something more realistic for the moment. I made a promise to myself that when my time increases I will start adding more songs back in, but for now I needed music to propel me along in doing my current workouts. The original one took forever to make and I had it timed really well with songs of appropriate tempo and mood for my 2 hour workouts, including a couple of breaks for water and to move props plus a 10 minute yoga/stretch/cool down afterward. That totaled about 2 hours and 20 minutes. At present the longest workout I can do is the 50 minute Total Body Trampoline to which I also add a 10 minute yoga/stretch/cool down at the end. I also HAVE to pause the workout a few times for a few minutes in order to complete most of the reps, so I figured that in as well. The new version of my playlist is a full hour shorter than before.

At the moment my routine seems to be serving me well in my quest to get back to a higher workout time and level. It is as follows: I will do the long workout, then for a couple of days do a 25 minute low level, easier Tracy routine so that I can warm up my muscles and get the lactic acid moving out of my body so that I can be more functional in my day to day life rather than being nearly crippled by that stiff soreness. Lather, rinse, repeat. This way I have been able to increase total workout minutes every week.

I hope you're all doing well, and look forward to hearing about your week!

Great job doing Tracy for a year and getting great results!

Pam - good answer! I haven't done enough Tracy to know these things. And great job doing all the exercise you're getting done! Hope you're sleeping better!

Have a great Tuesday!

My name is Pam and it's nice to meet you! emoticon You're right that there are currently about 3 of us actively posting on this team, but we do love our Tracy! I think the problem you're having is that Tracy just happens to be superwoman and doesn't always realize that mere mortals don't always have the same awesomeness as she! emoticon Okay, now it sounds like you're doing the starter kit of Metamorphosis. The problem some people experience is that Meta starts hard and goes off the charts hard (where you might become convinced she's trying to kill you.) emoticon I was given some really helpful advice on a similar problem I experienced a year or so ago (before I got sick and have to start all over!) It was suggested to me that I use a different one of her workouts for the next 10 days that focuses on the problem you're having specifically, then return to the one you're doing. For example, are you lacking the flexibility needed to do that particular exercise, or is it low back strength, ab strength, leg strength, arm strength, or general core stability? Depending on what, specifically, you're having trouble with, Tracy will have content to prepare your body... in one of the 160+ DVD's that she's released! (I only have 51 of them currently!) And if necessary, she has TONS of free content on YouTube that you can use to help you strengthen or gain flexibility in the area you're lacking; after targeting the issue you're having trouble with for the next 10 days you can go back and try again. You'll quickly find out if you're ready to continue or if you need to work on it some more. I DO NOT recommend (some opinions differ here) that you just keep going on to the next sequence (which will most likely build on the sequence you're having trouble with) without first addressing your area of weakness or you MIGHT end up hurt, and that's no fun.

As for me, on Sunday I did my second 50 minute workout emoticon since the illness, surgery, and recovery; so yesterday I decided to do Mat Workout for Beginners Level 1 (25 minutes) just to warm up my body and allow my muscles to massage some of the lactic acid out, and I really think it did help lessen my soreness for the day. I'm still sore, but not doing the duck walk! emoticon Today I'm doing a repeat of yesterday again this morning and hopefully (cross your fingers!) be ready to get another 50 minute one in tomorrow (the same Total Body Trampoline one) if my body is capable of it. Building back up after MONTHS out of the game is HARD! But I'm working on it! emoticon

I hope everyone is well and got off to a fabulous start of this new week. Go Team! emoticon

Hi there everyone. I have been doing Tracy for 1 year and LOVE her(and the body she helped me create). I haven't posted on this team because it didn't seem very active. I have a question. I am on Transformation (disc1- workout3) and am having difficulty with the exercise where leg rotates but only 1 arm on floor. After 10 days should I move on to the next workout or master that exercise before moving on? Any thoughts? Thanks for your help.

I'm sorry Mary, I wasn't meaning you or Marki! emoticon I am so thankful for you two gals, but I just meant... we used to have a lot more people on the team posting. It seems like these days everyone leads really busy lives, including myself; when it's just the 3 of us odds are that someone isn't going to be around to chat all the time. I think Tracy is so good and has such an intelligent and effective method that I don't understand why our team isn't super active with tons of people interacting! emoticon

I also was really tired when I made that post so I wasn't being very clear. I didn't mean to crab at anyone! emoticon I'm an insomniac who takes heavy duty meds in order to make myself go to sleep; I also have a heart defect and if my doctors and I didn't force my body to sleep I would have a heart attack. (Literally. I'm not exaggerating.) And at 2:30 last night I got a phone call from some jacka$$ thought it would be really funny to get drunk and make crank calls. Because of my sleeping disorder it took me 3 hours to get back to sleep. I laid in bed awake for an hour and nothing happened so I got up and waited to get drowsy again and during that time I did a bit of sparking. I'm just really glad I didn't have to work today!

Anywhoo, I just got done repeating the same Total Body Mini Trampoline DVD with the 25 minutes of MS and 25 minutes of trampoline cardio. I assure you that the pause button was my friend today! Even though I had a really rough night I decided to go ahead and try my best to do my Tracy because I absolutely cannot be trusted with excuses! If I do, I start finding TONS of excuses why I can't work out. I'm hopeful that this week I will finally reach my goal of 2 hours of total fitness minutes for the week. Hopefully I won't be as sore as last week when I did this workout! emoticon I think it's probably always hard to work up again to a good fitness level.

Have a great weekend team!

Hey Pam...50 minutes! emoticon ...and it sounds like you've got the scale going the right way again! Yippee!

Live with passion! I love it!

Sorry I haven't posted for a couple of days...my son hijacked my laptop back in November because he needs to take it to school to do homework before bball practice...I guess I could use the laptop at home on the weekends but I'm paranoid that it might crash while I'm on it and he could lose his work...so my internet at home is now phone or tablet which means most of my posting is done at work where I have a keyboard...sometimes I can't sneak the spark time in at work... emoticon but today work has been quiet...almost time to knock off and take the pooch for a walk emoticon

Have a great rest of the weekend!

So, did everyone just quit this team or Spark all together? Don't get me wrong, I think I have interesting things to say, but if I wasn't trying to converse with other people I'd just talk to myself in the shower or when I'm grocery shopping rather than log on to my team.

HELLO PORN STARS!!!

Yesterday I did my longest workout since my illness and surgery. I did the Total Body Mini Trampoline workout which is 50 minutes. (It's 25 minutes of MS followed by 25 minutes of mini trampoline.) I still couldn't do all the reps with MS because my muscles would fatigue and just drop, but I'm still calling it a WIN! emoticon Who's with me? emoticon Don't get me wrong, it's MURDER today; it hurts just to move in general (not 'injured' but 'worked out like a fiend' hurts.) I had forgotten how the mini trampoline SHREDS your core! I think it would be unsafe for me to attempt a workout this morning so I won't but will instead give my body a chance to heal and gain strength from what I did yesterday. Sadly, I don't think I'm going to make my goal of 120 fitness minutes in a week. I'm at 100 now but I'm not working out today and Saturday is the day I have to be at work WAY too early and then have a million errands to run afterwards. Maybe next week I'll reach that first goal. emoticon

Mary, thanks so much for your sodium advice. Mine has been too high for too long and I need to do better. It just hasn't been on my radar but I really need to try to do better with my sodium intake!

Also, I don't think it would be wise for me to step away from the scales either. I know that it truly does start my day out emotionally depending on what it reads, but I just can't trust myself at this moment in time, either! emoticon I just gain weight SO MUCH EASIER than just about anybody I know, so it is really important that I keep up with it. BTW, the extra weight disappeared yesterday, but I'm still not down any weight at all emoticon NO FAIR! emoticon I'm working my butt off but none of my butt is coming off. emoticon Maybe I'll start seeing something positive on the scale next week, I hope.

I also have a contender phrase for my personalized bracelet. LIVE WITH PASSION. What do you guys think? It's not negative and it doesn't spill my guts to any random stranger who sees me wearing it. AIM TRUE is another contender. Let me know what you guys think, or if I should keep looking.

I hope you all have a great Friday and happy weekend!

Good morning team!

Pam I had a very hard time getting the scale to move until I figured out the sodium...when I first started "dieting" my plan for getting my calories down was to eat deli meat and pickled vegetables...2 of the highest sodium foods in the world! Especially the deli meat! For 10 years every time I would try to lose weight I would go to cold cuts because they were low carb and low calorie and easy...I really didn't think sodium mattered...once I saw that I was getting 4000mg+ sodium a day I cleaned up my nutrition by cutting out the processed foods (and hence the sodium) and things started to "click"...I felt so much better and the scale started moving...so I suggest you read those labels and get an idea of what your sodium intake is...or better yet eat stuff that has no label when you can! I NEVER eat deli meat now...I do eat some pickled stuff because I like to get the probiotics - but I'm aware of the salt and keep myself in range...

and I'm still not perfect...sometimes I'll still eat a lean cuisine for lunch just because it's convenient - even though the chemicals in the ingredient list make me cringe...but when I do I use it as a topping over a big pile of veggies (usually mushrooms, brussels sprouts or spinach)...that way it keeps me full for hours...

As Marki said the scale is always going to fluctuate...Marki and I are opposite...the scale is actually my security blanket...I weigh almost every day first thing in the morning but I don't panic if I'm up 2 or 3 pounds...however if I hit 5 pounds up it's time to look at what I've been doing and make adjustments or that 5 could become 10 quickly...I need the scale to help me be accountable...I can't trust myself! emoticon if I went a month without weighing no telling how much I might gain...just like finding the food and exercise that works for us, scale relationships are very personal...one plan is not going to work for everyone!

Marki - so, so sorry you had the flu! Hope you are fully recovered soon!

It's a little chilly here so I didn't get in the jog I had planned for the morning but I'm hoping to sneak away from work and jog a little when the temp rises a bit...and I'll do my yoga tonight!

Have a great day!

Mary

Happy Thursday!

That is a really good point on sodium! I know I've heard it a million times but I always forget that one and don't even THINK to look! emoticon I did use canned chickpeas in the hummus, but the recipe didn't say anything about rinsing them so I didn't. But the recipe's author probably wasn't on the lookout for sodium and might not have even thought about it. That's one of the many reasons that I love you gals... you easily see things that I don't! emoticon

And yes, you're right that I did just finish my cycle. Mine happen to be from hell, probably because I only have about 3 per year and they're angry about it. emoticon

Marki, I'm so sorry to hear you got the flu. emoticon I've had it this year too. I don't know if you heard this, but the CDC said they are expecting a really bad flu season this year. They were totally off on the projections of what flu strains would migrate (and where) so even if you got a flu shot you're not protected. And it makes it worse because nobody got protected this year with the flu shot so there is a statistically much higher chance that any one person will catch it because there are so many carriers of flu without the benefit of a reliable vaccine. I hope you're feeling better! emoticon

Yesterday I did level 3 of Mat Workout for Beginners (without the suggested ankle weights!) It's the second attempt on this level and although my muscles fatigued and just gave out before doing as many reps as Tracy did, I still improved on my last attempt! emoticon

I'm so glad I have the support of you guys because my weight hasn't gone down in a few weeks and I'm fighting the whole 'feeling like a failure' thing. I'm so lucky to have your support!

I hope everyone finishes their week out strong. The weekend's almost here!

Happy Workout Wednesday!

Just had to pop in while I had a minute to say hi. emoticon
I ended up catching the stupid flu again!!! At least that's what I think it was. I had a headache so bad for 3 days there was no way I could focus on the computer.

Pam, real quick I saw your post about weight being up, but I need to go back and read all the posts I've missed. But without knowing the whole story behind your post, and I definitely agree with Mary's sodium suggestion, don't forget that weight fluctuates based on hormones, and working out can cause your muscles to hold more water. So maybe that's part of it too. I feel so much better (Mentally) now that I"m only weighing in once a month. Weekly and sometimes daily weigh-ins were depressing me.

Mary you're always on top of your game. Good luck with the jogging. My old bones can't take the jarring. But I am enjoying bedtime yoga. Now to build back my strength too.

Marki

Hey Pam!

Do you keep an eye on your sodium intake? When I first started my "journey" I was shocked at how high my sodium intake was. I really didn't see how I was going to get it down to 2300 (the max recommended daily) but now I keep it around 1000 most days. Yesterday, however, my sodium intake was around 2000 and sure enough scale was up a pound today. Canned tomatoes are loaded with nutrition but can be high in sodium too (but not as high in sodium as most canned soups)...so keep eating your soup - sounds delicious emoticon - just make sure you're not eating other high-sodium foods on the same day you have the soup! Also if you used canned chickpeas for your hummus did you rinse them first - beans should always be rinsed - something I never knew until a year ago - gets rid of some sodium and other "anti-nutrients" - even if I cook dried beans with no sodium I rinse them before adding them to chili or whatever they are going into...

for my weight goal when I first started I made a little 3 month spreadsheet that showed where I would be each week if I lost a pound a week...it's still on my fridge!

great that you're getting some exercise in...for me just some jogging and yoga right now...I need to set some strength goals soon!

Have a great Wednesday!

Mary

Good morning team, I hope you're all doing well and feeling great! Yesterday I got in my 25 minutes of Mat Workout for Beginners (level 2). I plan to get in some Tracy again today too (that is, if my electricity cooperates!) emoticon

Can anyone tell me what is going on here... I've been doing pretty good with my diet and have started doing Tracy again a couple of times a week, but my weight is UP by a pound and a half and has stayed that way for a week! emoticon I'm trying to be careful, though it isn't easy. WTF?!?! emoticon I literally have NO idea what my body is trying to do to me... and it's real weight because my clothes aren't any looser, but I swear I've been really have been eating less crap and more veggies! emoticon Has anyone else experienced this before?

Anywhoo, the hummus was good, thanks for asking, Mary! emoticon You know how it is when you first try out a new recipe, you're kinda conservative (or at least I am!) so I didn't go heavy on spices and flavors, even though I like those things. Next time I will, though, because it was really easy and quick to make, so experimenting will be half the fun (AND I eat hummus with carrots anyway so I'm getting in more veggies when I have hummus in the fridge!) It was really great that my husband liked it. He'd never tried hummus before and it took some coaxing to get him to taste it, but then he enjoyed it! emoticon I've got a jar of roasted red peppers waiting anxiously to go in the next batch. I made the hummus in my Vitamix (aka the god of all blenders) and, from what I read online, some people were cranky about the fact that it's hard to get every last bit of it out of the machine. One woman said she just makes something savory in the Vitamix right afterward and that incorporates most of the hummus that's under the blades and clinging to the side of the jar, making cleanup easier. emoticon So I made my favorite tomato soup in the Vitamix immediately after making the hummus. (I don't like a lot of the stuff they add to canned tomato soup and mine tastes better anyway!) emoticon It's just one can of stewed tomatoes dumped in the machine and set on high. But when the tomatoes picked up the hummus that was still in the machine it COMPLETELY elevated the soup I already love! I swear, it tasted like it had a cup of cream in it! emoticon So, now I'll probably add hummus whenever I make my simple tomato soup. emoticon

As I told you guys, my goal is to try to get back up to what I was doing before I got sick, which was 1 hour of MS and 1 hour of trampoline cardio, by mid April. I have no idea if I'll be able to get there from where I am now in 3 months, but that's my lofty goal! And I would like to lose the last 70 pounds this year too. What do you guys think?

Enjoy the rest of your week!

Hey Pam,

Glad you got power back! How was the hummus?

Couples cardio counts! Great for stress relief too!

Very rainy here but I hope to get some indoor walking in and some yoga tonight - I'm behind in my yoga minutes for the week so I need to double up today!

Have a great day!

Good morning team! Okay, so pretty much none of my plans happened yesterday. I made the hummus and planned to get my workout on in the late morning to early afternoon. Then our electricity went out! No internet, no TV, no Tracy. emoticon The best laid plans of mice and men, right? But at least last night after they got the electricity back on my husband and I got in some 'couples cardio'! Does that count?

Okay, so that wasn't my fault, BUT I forgot to set my alarm this morning and didn't get my workout in today, either. emoticon I know, bad Pam. I'm sorry, guys!

I hope you all have a great week!

Good morning team! I hope you all had a good week and are ready to take a breather today. My husband and I had to divide and conquer in order to get everything done for the weekend because an ice storm is predicted to start in the St. Louis area at around 8 am and last for 22 hours. I hope they're wrong, but we might be trapped in for a couple of days; so I did the Target, Wal-Mart, Dollar Tree, and Dierbergs trips and Alex did Shop n' Save and got the bank business done. Whew!

On Friday I got in 25 minutes MS for Beginners (level 2). Saturdays are too early of a start for my workouts because I have to be at work an hour earlier than on weekdays, but I was sore the next day anyway so my muscles needed to recover. Depending on how today goes, I'll try to get in some of each: MS, trampoline cardio, and yoga. I'm not going to attempt to push anything too far or go for too long because I'm still in back pain and I don't want to make it worse.

Today I'm going to try to make hummus in my vitamix. It will be my first attempt so wish me luck! I've been researching recipes online and it appears that no two people make it the same way and everyone is extremely opinionated that their version is the best and all the others suck, so it's really a shot in the dark! I'm hoping for the best, though, and I got some carrots and cucumbers for dipping.

I also made sure to get all of my ingredients to make my homemade laundry detergent if I think I need more projects to occupy my trapped-in-the-apartment time during the ice storm. It's all I've used for years and I don't plan to go back to the commercial stuff anytime soon.

I hope you all have a great Sunday!

Just keep trying! You can do it! But don't overdo it with the exercise...try to work on nutrition and ease into the exercise...15 min of MS is a great start!

Yoga is whatever happens on your mat! At least that's what I've been told - y'all know alot more about yoga that I do! Enjoy and Breathe!

Hope your neck is feeling better!

Have a great weekend! You too Marki!

Good morning team!

Marki, thanks for the info on the foam rollers. I will absolutely check that out over the weekend! I haven't yet because I've been slammed at work and when I work all day going at full steam with no breaks my brain is mush by the time I get home. I'm glad you're finding some relief and I hope to do the same!

Mary, I still haven't gotten back to my yoga. I know, I know, bad Pam! I'm going to start getting that incorporated back in to my routine very soon. My stepdaughter even got me a gift certificate for a new yoga studio that's not far from me, so I need to get up my nerve to go to a new studio to use my gift certificate and give it a try! Maybe the yogis and yoginis there won't be as cliquish and mean (especially to people who look like me!) as the studio I quit last year. Target has yoga clothes on sale at a pretty good price and I really need some that fit me now!

I posted a blog calling myself out on what's been going on with me lately. It's not pretty. I had really backslid and returned to some bad habits and was feeling sorry for myself with all the medical problems and surgery last year (around fall.) I began exhibiting symptoms of depression, such as feeling hopeless, lost, discouraged, and very sad. I wasn't interested in working my butt off again to once again achieve the fitness level I'd already worked so hard to achieve before getting so sick last year. Not to mention the weight gain from steroids and bed rest. So I was super smart and wallowed in self pity, gaining EVEN MORE weight. So yesterday I reset my ticker, wiped the slate clean, and am striving to do even better than last year before my illness!

Yesterday I got in 15 minutes of MS, and I'll let you know how far I get this am. Enjoy finishing out your week stronger than last, like I plan to!

Thanks for the foam roller info Marki! I think I would like softer as well.

2 nights of bedtime yoga in a row...what a streak I've got going! emoticon

Happy to have you joining me!

Pam - you still doing your yoga too?

Have a great rest of your Thursday!

Mary, I agree. I feel better when I make time for a little yoga. So I'll set a daily goal with you too. emoticon

Deciding on a foam roller nearly made me crazy. Luckily my neighbors had 5 different types for me to try, so I thought it would be easier since I thought I knew what I wanted. But sadly, Amazon didn't sell the brand I liked most of the ones I had tried, so I was stuck reading reviews trying to find a Low Density or "softer" one that got good reviews for not falling apart after a month. I never did find it. The closest I came was a Stott Pilate's High Density foam roller, but the reviews said it was "softer" and Amazon had the purple color for $35 compared to the black color for $46. It is exactly as HARD as the low density foam roller I was using (which was pretty hard) so I'm happy with it. BUT now that I've been seeing so much about Melting, I kinda of regret not ordering the Stott Pilate's Soft Density Foam Roller. But it was $47 and didn't have a single review to tell me if it was too soft or it could easily still be much harder than a Melt Foam Roller. Who knows. Myofascial release has really really helped my sore muscles and tendons, but I really wanted to find the least expensive good roller, but most of those said high density and the low density one I had was just SO SO hard and hurt so much. My neighbors high density rollers felt like a a solid tube of hard plastic and I couldn't lay on them.

Mat for beginners, rebounding. First time in for-ev-er. It felt so good. And foam rolling. Now I'm off to clean house. We're going to have the realtors come over tomorrow to discuss putting the house back on the market next month.

Marki - ha ha - you're right, setting yoga goals is quite counterintuitive to yoga...but I promise I do relax once I start a pose...and I feel so much better when I'm working a little yoga into my life...sometimes I just forget (so I'm not stressing about not getting it done - I'm just being absent-minded)! emoticon then the next day I'm like - why the heck didn't I do some yoga yesterday?! that's why I need to see to set goals - I think seeing things in print helps me remember to do them! I haven't heard of the melt method and still don't have a foam roller - I did look at them on amazon but there were so many! haven't had a chance to research...what kind do you have? do you like it?

Pam - hope this week is going better!

Mary, I would love to see that picture of your son holding the snowman's hand. How cute that must have been. And don't pressure yourself to build those yoga minutes. Yoga is supposed to be good for the soul and relaxing. emoticon not stress inducing.

Good luck getting back on track with your nutrition. emoticon I'm glad we have all the junk out of the house finally. I had serious carb flu going yesterday, but I'm feeling better today. Hopefully I'll get some energy kicking in soon.

Pam, I'm glad your husband's pay check arrived. That would be so stressful. Luckily we have auto deposit and can count on my husband's money being deposited for us. Have you used your foam roller to help relieve your shoulder and neck pain? There are a lot of videos. Here's a short one that I liked.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocadT2OLHmg

I don't want you to think I'm trying to encourage you to spend money on another contraption, but….. Have you heard about the Melt Method? I hadn't until recently. I kept seeing people mentioning it while reading reviews for foam rollers. So I googled it. Apparently, there's a book by Sue Hitzmann ($19 on Amazon) and she has a website and a blog and a few youtube videos. Her Melt roller is supposed to be a "special" soft roller, rather than a normal foam roller. I saw that you can buy her book and all of her Melt stuff (roller, 2 sets, of balls, and dvds) on her website bundled together for $99. I'm debating ordering it. I've gotten a lot of pain relief from doing the myofasicial release exercises that I found on YouTube, with the regular roller I bought; but from what I read, "Melting" is supposed to be even better for you. But who knows if it's just hype. Her website has links to Melt classes that are being taught, and I think I saw a YouTube video that was a clip from a class, but the closest class to me is in Utah. emoticon That's not so close. Here's a link to one of her Melt video's on releasing shoulder pain. Maybe you can try the exercises with your roller????
www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1Fu-m-MxKE

Well hope everyone is having a great day! I'm off to try to fit my workout in. I'm so behind today.

Happy Tuesday!

Hope you both are finding some relief from your aches and pains!

Marki - pampering day sounds amazing! In the past 16 years we've only had snow stick once and that was 15 years ago...so my son has only had a snowman in our yard once...and he was 11 months old so I had to build it...of course he doesn't remember but I set him in a chair beside the snowman and had him hold the snowman's hand (twig) so I could snap a photo... emoticon

Pam - 3 hours of housework is great exercise! Hope your dvd is up and running!

Hoping to sneak away from work a little later for a jog...cold weather coming later in the week so I need to get out while I can!

I must confess that I haven't been doing my yoga...but now that school's back in it's time to get back to a better routine so I promise y'all that I will do at least 105 minutes of yoga a week...that's only 15 minutes a day so if I miss a day I can do 30 min the next and still be on target...a small, doable goal...but it's so much better than nothing! emoticon

I've been a nutrition slacker for the last couple of weeks too emoticon ...time to turn that around too!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Have a wonderful day!

Happy Monday, team! I wonder if our team picked up any new Tracy devotees due to New Year's resolutions? That would be nice, since it's pretty much down to the three of us chatting now. Don't get me wrong, I love you gals emoticon but sometimes the energy of a big group can get you pumped emoticon up without even trying!

Mary, it sounds like you are having a super awesome winter!

Marki, I'm glad you carved out a little 'me' time for yourself! It sounds like you really needed it. I'm sorry you're in pain, but I'm glad you've found some things that seem to be helping you out!

The pain I've been dealing with is neck, shoulders, and back (which are all really difficult areas for me to self-massage.) I've been applying herbal heat packs that I wet down and put in the microwave to try to make the muscles unlock. It helps to some degree, but I really would need some form of massage or release after the heat therapy in order for it to do much good.

My husband's check finally arrived Saturday evening, so he went out to get a new player for myTracy. I'll be starting back on my workouts again this morning; yesterday I didn't workout per se but did about 3 hours cleaning and vacuuming the apartment. I know it's not the same thing, but I didn't think I could do both. My hope is to work back up (to where I was in July before I got sick) by late spring. Hopefully I won't come across too many more things that hold me back, even though I'm projected to remain immuno-supressed until about October.

I hope you guys all have a great week!

Happy New Year again and Happy Sunday!

Mary I'm with Pam. Your new year sounded like fun!

We had snow flurries all day On New Year's eve. It was beautiful! I was a little bummed that none of it stuck and that we didn't wake up to white New Year's Day. We've only had snow stick 3 times in the last 15 years, so we still find snow amazing and beautiful. emoticon
Pam, I'm so sorry your work is so crazy. Hope it improves soon. Is it your whole body that's been hurting? I know that you're sitting too much you can get tight hip flexors, and also shortened IT Bands. That's what I've been dealing with. I'm messaging from my phone so I can't share any links, but you can find IT Band and Hip Flexor releases with the foam roller on YouTube. I'll try to post a link later today. I found a good one for dancers that I really like. I think the dancer style works great for us since we're doing Tracy stuff. Also I'm drinking Tumeric tea. Since Tumeric is supposed to be good for inflammation and pain relief It's not yummy, but it's not terrible.
I'm off to a great start this year. Feeling stronger and happy. My New Year Whole30 is a work in progress. Really need to work on the veggies.
I've spent the weekend pampering myself with a home pedicure, hair dying, facial, body scrub, and I even shaved my legs. emoticon I feel like a new woman..

Hey Pam!

Sorry you had a bad day! Wish I had a magic potion that would fix your soreness...I would surely share!

No vacation...just home...probably the first time I've ever kayaked in January...very mild winter so far...

Great job with smoothies at work!
emoticon

Marki how're things with you? Scale still going down?

Time to go figure out what's for dinner!

Have a great night!

Good morning porn stars! I hope you all had a fabulous January 2! Mine didn't quite go as planned emoticon

BTW, I must say that Mary, I'm so jealous of your awesome New Year! Do you live there or are you on vacay? It sounds amazing! In St. Louis we're freezing out butts off emoticon I guess that's one way to lose a size or two, though emoticon

Sooo... yesterday morning I logged off Spark in plenty of time and put in my Tracy dvd so I could get to work on my goal of working up to being able to keep up with the live streaming class by mid April (when my medical bills are paid off and I can afford it,) emoticon but my player had died! I thought bummer... but I'll go after work to get a new player... but then my husband's paycheck didn't arrive in the mail like it was supposed to. Hopefully it will arrive today so that, after work today, we can go get a new dvd/ blu ray player for my Tracy! emoticon

Then at work yesterday, I couldn't even stand up for hours because it was so busy, and I didn't have time to pee so I had to restrict my fluids (my back, neck and shoulders are KILLING me! When I was young I NEVER used to get sore from NOT doing anything!) emoticon One of the ladies who works there is in her mid seventies and appears to be on a rapid cognitive decline; she's still physically present but doesn't know what's going on much of the time. In an office with only 5 people (one is the doctor's husband who doesn't help anyway) if you end up one person down everyone else has A LOT more work to do. If I could afford to, I would be running out to get a massage. Do any of you sweet ladies have any other ideas of how I could get out of pain? Pretty please? I'll love you forever emoticon Maybe there are some neck, shoulder, and back releases with the foam roller that any of you guys are familiar with?

Also, my weight is up today. Maybe having sore, tight muscles for any reason, not just working out, can cause the scale to go higher?

In other news, at work we haven't had ANY work breaks in at least a week, including lunch. Since some of the days are long, I started bringing a really big green smoothie to work because I can 'eat' that at my desk. In addition to the spinach, PB2, banana, milk, and dates, yesterday I also added soaked chia seeds, lemon juice, carrots, and sugar free dark chocolate. I definitely think I'm making the most of a bad situation (no breaks) and doing something really positive (getting really good food with highly portable green smoothies!)

It's time for me to start getting ready for work. I hope you guys all have a great weekend! emoticon

Happy New Year!!!!

I had an awesome day yesterday! 2 mile walk with little Harry...4.5 mile jog...

then after my jog my kiddo was hungry at 4pm so I fed him an early dinner which meant I had a few hours before he needed feeding again...the tide was perfect so I hopped in my kayak and paddled for an hour and a half...30 minutes of that paddle was me trying to catch up with a group of bottlenose dophins! What a treat! a couple of times I was within few feet but I was unable to get a photo - bummer! there were 6 or 8 large, healthy, beautiful adults...I love the sound of dophins' breath...and the sight of the water vapor exploding out of their blow holes as they play! Beautiful Sunset...Paddled home as darkness fell...what a great way to start the new year! Lucky me!

And I did my yoga while I watched football last night!

All that exercise and my weight was up a pound this morning! I guess I shocked my body with all that activity and it went into conservation mode...or maybe I just ate too much of the traditional southern New's Years food that I cooked!

At work now so I better get back to working!

Enjoy your Friday!

Mary

Hey y'all! emoticon

I'm back on the green smoothies too...mine is very simple...I grapefruit (about 1/2 pound), 1/2 pound of frozen greens (I've tried 'em all - spinach, kale, collards, mustard, turnip - turnip's a little bitter but I really like all the others), water as needed and Swerve as a sweetener...I really like Swerve - it's expensive but all-natural, no calories, no after taste and can be used for baking!...makes a 24 ounce smoothie that to me is very refreshing! With a scrambled egg and 1 slice of bacon it makes a nice macro-nutritionally balanced 340 calorie breakfast (38% carbs/38% fat/24% protein)...and starts the day with a pound of fruits and veggies! (I shoot for at least 2 pounds a day)

I love the idea of small "doable" goals...I'll have to get a foam roller! 10 minutes of yoga - so doable and chances are once I get started I'll do 30 minutes! It's the getting started part I have struggled with lately!

Last work day of 2014! emoticon

Have a wonderful night! I'll try to check in tomorrow!

Good morning porn stars! emoticon Have you guys seen the little clip of Tracy's live stream? OMG! It's AMAZING! emoticon She is just so ON! Hopefully in a few months I can jump in emoticon once medical bills get paid! Anywhoo...

Mary, it's hard when you're busy and family is all around to be 'good' every day! That's certainly not something I can do consistently without a 'cheat' day at least occasionally. On balance though, you do a fabulous job most of the time! emoticon The fact that you've maintained for so long is proof of that. You're so inspiring!

Marki, first of all, the Mat Workout for Beginners is fabu emoticon but Tracy's material is so effective that she doesn't know how to do easy, am I right? emoticon It seems to me her levels are as follows:
1) hard
2) harder
3) OMG TRACY ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL ME?!?! emoticon
So, yesterday I ended up doing about 10-15 minutes of one of the 25 minute workouts; this morning I'm sore in several places but I'm not TOO sore so I feel like I did the perfect amount for me yesterday. emoticon I'm in the same boat as you with trying to build up and it seemed prudent to do what I can and give myself time before attempting to keep up with the tiny blond on my TV. (I've not really tried the new dance cardio one because of the coughing that's hanging on, but it's here and ready to go.) They're priced AMAZINGLY, right? Tracy says she wants to have material at all price points, and she really delivers on that!

Also, Marki, great ideas on challenges! emoticon You're really good at that stuff! I could totally get on board with green smoothie, lemon water, myofacial release, and night time yoga challenges! The green smoothies seem to be really effective and easy 'fast food', and though I've never used lemon water as a detox I do enjoy it and would be happy to do that. I also bought a foam roller a few months ago but kinda just stared at it, waiting on it to tell me what to do. emoticon It never did speak, so it's just waiting to be used! And I'm supposed to do a sinus rinse every night forever (I miss occasionally, though.) Since I am a certified yoga instructor I created a yoga routine (about 10 minutes) to drain the sinuses after the rinse but have been slacking off. This would be the PERFECT way to make it fun again!

Please share if you're making any new year's resolutions, and have a great week!

Hey there! It's so nice to be able to check in with you today. I feel like I'm starting my week off right.

Pam, great job on your smoothies! The Bahama Mama team did a green smoothie challenge which was to swap out one meal for a healthy green smoothie and I loved it. It really helped me get my Wahl's veggie servings in. So I'm definitely up for that type of 30 day challenge again.

But what about in addition doing a weekly challenge where we add a new healthy habit each week, like starting each day with a glass of detox water or lemon water, if we all have a foam roller we could add 3 min of myofacial release of our muscles & connective tissue,, 10 minutes of yoga before bed, anything that we all can do to improve health. without adding stress to our busy lives. I definitely need to focus on health not weight.

Mary, You're our inspiration since you've been in maintainence for so long. Do you have any ideas?

Oh Pam, you are the Tracy DVD expert. Do you have Tracy's newer Mat Workout for Beginners? Or New Dance Cardio for Beginners?? I ordered them both on Amazon, i think they cost me less than $12 for both and I had free shipping with my Prime membership. They should arrive today. The Mat workout says it has 3 25 min workouts. And the Dance said 4 10 minute workouts I think. The clip I saw on YouTube looked good and I need to ease back into serious fitness since I'm still recovering from my IT Band issues.

Have a great day! I'm off to try a new thing I saw on YouTube the 5 rites of rejuvination. If it goes well I might consider trying to add it in everyday.

Hey guys!

I just wanted to stop by and check in. I, too, have been trying to come up with a January challenge in order to try to rally my motivation. emoticon Maybe if we all put our heads together we can come up with something really special. emoticon In the meantime, Spark is always saying that it's easier to ADD a good thing to your life than subtract a bad thing, so a few days ago I started adding a simple green smoothie per day. I've made green smoothies before, but it's been a little while. I'm using spinach, milk, dates, banana, and dark chocolate PB2; I can tell it's already making a difference in my body and it's pretty yummy! emoticon

I hope to see you guys back posting soon. Happy New Year! emoticon emoticon

No Tracy for me today, but I'm planning on setting up a new year challenge for myself to run January 2nd - February 13th. Anyone have any ideas they'd like to share. I really really really want to feel fabulous on our wedding anniversary this year. It's going to be 18 years! I don't feel that old emoticon

emoticon Happy Saturday!

Sorry I've been MIA again. I've had my nephew and his girlfriend visiting. They're both in their first year of college, so Vegas is really not the town for them yet, so it's harder to keep them entertained.

I saw the Tracy live streaming news. $79 a month. It would be cool, but I definitely have no plans to join at the moment. Since I haven't done any of the continuity that I own.

Pam, Christmas is when I miss my cats the most. When we had cats, we always got a HUGE tree (WAY too big for our house) my husband had a thing about trees. and they would climb inside of it and peek out from the different branches.

Mary and Pam I hope you both are staying warm and have a great holiday week. My nephew just walked out and I have to drive them down to the strip.

Hey guys! I'm feeling a lot better but still have a lot of coughing fits going on. I figured I'd wait until next week to try to resume my workouts; hopefully by then the coughing fits (which are brought on with 'some' exertion, and Tracy's stuff is all more than the 'some' category!) will be decreased. I'm working crazy hours, and what's worse is that the doctor and her husband decide what they will pay you for and what they won't. So... I'm working crazy long hours (everyone realizes that they haven't had their eye exam for the year and are about to lose this year's benefits) and maybe I'll get paid for the time worked and maybe they'll just 'add wrong'. That would be more believable if they haven't already been CAUGHT IN THE ACT OF DISCUSSING AND DECIDING HOW MANY OF YOUR HOURS THEY'LL 'LOSE'! It's illegal. We know it, and they know it. But they know that since they are super rich multi millionaires with a son who is a lawyer that they have the resources to beat you (in court) if you tried to do anything. Also, they know that especially in this tough economy it's hard to get another job immediately so you can't afford to lose your job over it. Also, the doctor makes sure that once you are no longer in her employ that you have a VERY, VERY hard time landing another job. She doesn't really say anything illegal per se, but makes it clear through inference to the person checking your references that they've just dodged a bullet by not hiring you. So you're either screwed, or you're more screwed. Also, none of us have gotten a raise in 4 years or so. BLAH! emoticon emoticon So, anywhoo, this wasn't the best week for me to start working out again anyway, even if I still wasn't a bit sick.

Also, did you guys hear that Tracy is starting a live streaming class? She'll have a camera crew in with her (and all the gals taking the class) at her studio teaching a Master Class once a week and you do it along with them. It sounds like a really cool experience but there is no chance (with all the medical bills on top of my regular bills) that I can afford the $500 per 6 month fee. Unless any of you gals are rich and didn't tell me and want to give me a super nice present! emoticon

Anywhoo, I hope that no news is good news from the team! Happy holidays! emoticon

Marki, great news on not needing surgery! I'm so happy that you're body is healing itself. And emoticon on the decision you and your husband made to make other people in need's lives a little bit better this holiday season! I think a lot of people come to the conclusion that they can't do that sort of thing because, if they did, they wouldn't be able to afford their Yule lists (of 1 or 2 or 3 thousand dollars) that they feel obligated to buy. I guess if you're kinda loaded it wouldn't be that big of a deal, but most of us aren't! I read somewhere that it takes most people well into summer to pay off the credit card bills from buying all the 'obligatory' Yule gifts. Your conclusion is SO MUCH BETTER!

Mary, you're such a sweetie! You always say the nicest things, and in my world that's a really rare and beautiful thing! We don't do a tree either, because our kids are cats and you just cannot expect to put a TREE in their HOME and expect them to not climb it (and knock all the glass ornaments off and cut themselves, or send the entire tree crashing down...) But Alex does some nice little garlands and stockings and a mini tree. You can have a good time without the big tree!

Sorry about the MIA again. I got the flu, then my sinuses became infected. Joy. (If you've never had a sinus infection, it makes you sick as a dog and is possibly one of the grossest things you'll ever have to deal with.) In better news, the allergy testing revealed that I CAN be desensitized. It is a 2 to 3 year program of DAILY meds and the desensitization that you develop doesn't last forever (15 to 25 years), but I am absolutely going to give it a go. I'll be starting early next year.

So guys, remember the yoga studio that I went to for years? It was very clique-y, and students who didn't make it to the 'in' crowd would be bullied, picked on, and laughed at (by the owner, teachers, and their friends.) After about 7 years... lets just say I was never in that crowd. And I saw some students who had obvious deficits (asbergers and such) that made them socially awkward get made fun of too, and other horrible things too numerous to mention in one post. Anyway, that studio just released a series of commercials saying how great and loving they are and how they welcome everyone with open arms and just flat out change their lives. Am I the only one who thinks that's even more insidious and twisted than what they already do? Promising people 'family' (their word, not mine!) when they fail to mention that it's an ABUSIVE 'family'?

Well, I've been up a whole hour and a half. It's about time for me to go back to bed (did I mention sinus infections suck?) Have a great weekend!

Hey team!

Pam - emoticon you made the right decision...I think you will add to your family eventually but right now I think you need to concentrate on yourself...you're still figuring out your allergies and what foods you need to avoid and how to make better nutrition choices...and that is alot of work on it's own! I hope you get some meaningful, treatable results from the next round of testing! I'm glad the little guy got to the hospital quickly and hope he is recovering rapidly...he sounds adorable so I'm sure he'll find a good home!

Marki - how sweet of you to help your sister! Hope you're not in the part of CA that's getting battered by bad weather! Great news about your knee! emoticon

Pretty low key holiday season for us...we did go to a really fun party last weekend...I asked my boys on Thanksgiving if they wanted a tree this year...they didn't, but I may put up a small one anyway and pull out at least a few decorations... emoticon emoticon

Weekend's almost here! Yay!

emoticon everyone! Sorry I've been MIA again, but I've been in CA again. We had a big family gathering for Christmas at my sister's and my husband and I helped her organize everything and set up and decorate her house. It was a lot of work. So, I didn't have computer time.

Pam emoticon I'm sorry you didn't get your kitten, but it sounds like you definitely made the right decision for your family. I hope that little thing gets better, and finds a good home. Good luck with your allergy testing.

Mary, how's everything? Are you ready for Christmas?

Pam, I feel for you, dealing with Christmas stress. I'm so sick of the commercialization of the holiday and spoiled children that have everything and don't appreciate anything. My husband and I have decided to forgo family gifts and give something to children in need. There's a homeless youth Christmas list, the children have asked for things like gloves, pillows, socks, underwear, toothbrushes. Definitely different than the Xbox and Iphones on some of my nephews and nieces lists. Ugh!

I got good news from the doctor today. My knee is healing on its own and I don't have to do surgery. He gave me permission to start Tracy's Meta again, as long as I stop if I start to feel pain.

Have a good week! I'll be back home on Friday, and I'll be checking in regularly again.

So, I just wanted to drop in and give you guys and update. On Friday I finally made the choice to not, at least at this time, adopt the baby. It was PROFOUNDLY helpful to get all of your sage input and advice, friends! The definitive reason why I made the decision to not get the baby is the fact that we are absolutely covered over in medical bills (STILL!!!) from my medical issues and surgery a couple of months ago... and I realized (with help from you guys...I'm not all that bright when my heart gets involved...) that IF the baby got sick we have no resources to get medical care from him. I mean, my loss of work, doctor bills, surgery, etc OBLITERATED our resources! I have an amazing husband who doesn't blame me... and also understands that even though I don't have the capability to reproduce humans that I still have a VERY STRONG maternal instinct and it is not possible to reason with hormones. Anyway... I still consider the baby 'under my protection' and I visited him the following day. He was sick in the am, and by early afternoon was IN THE HOSPITAL! Dysentery is very common in kittens, but when something only weighs a couple of pounds they need treatment ASAP if they start losing fluids like that. I mean... THE NEXT DAY? SERIOUSLY? Anywhoo, it was the best decision at that time. Maybe I can hold this in until all my doctor and hospital bills are paid off (sometime next year.)

In other topics, I hope you guys are doing better than I am with the whole diet and exercise thing. It's a really very busy time of year right now. Even if you could care less, everyone wants presents (especially grown a$$ adults with more money than you'll every have!) and we are barely getting by anyway... so that's REALLY VERY STRESSFUL!!! I'm so busy stressing and trying to keep everyone else happy that my healthy lifestyle is taking a real beating. Is anyone else going through something like that?

Also, this Friday I get the actual, getting scratched, allergy testing. All of my providers agree that I need to have it done, and my deductible is met with the surgery, so it needs to be done now. Apparently it is the prevailing theory (on nasal polyps and the half dozen or so other things I had wrong with my sinuses) that constant allergic irritation is the most likely cause of tissue that has no business being there in the first place growing out of control until you nearly die because every doctor misdiagnoses you! The allergist said that some things can be treated and some things can't... but the first step is to see what you're allergic to. Then maybe they can or maybe they can't do anything to treat you. So wish me luck, and think 'treatable' thoughts for me!

Marki emoticon ...I thought buffalo tartar was an odd choice for breakfast! I really would eat it though if prepared by someone who knows what there doing...not by me! Lucky doggie!

Pam Maybe you & hubby should make a list of the potential positives & potential negatives, discuss them thoughtfully & make the decision!

I had to take my car for recall service early this a.m. & had a nice bike ride on a greenway that runs behind the dealership!

Have a great day!

Marki, it is SO difficult to wait on test results when they're so close! My thoughts are with you as you wait it out, and hopefully we can get you fixed up really soon.

BTW, I know what you mean about having a sick baby. I had a little girl (a calico named Boogie) who died about 10 years ago. She was 2 years old, and very sick. She was in and out of the hospital for the last few months of her life, and they ran every test they could find; it was never diagnosed what was making her so sick. It was expensive, but also one of the most traumatizing experiences of my life. I loved her so much... she was one of the great love stories of my life. But during her short time on earth, I hope I made her life a little easier... she definitely made me a better mother, wife, and person in general. However, I do understand the agony of a sick baby. I also know that the dynamic of the family could change, but I know my window of time is growing shorter in which my sons would be able to relate to a baby. My boys had a sister until 2 years ago, about the same age as them. It is always unpredictable when you change the family dynamic (because the stork has paid a visit.) I just fall in love with babies so very easily and I have always leaned toward having my family on the bigger side. I absolutely would never want things to go badly, thou, so I'm kinda torn!

And Mary, what a sweet compliment, about my motherhood! But I must make sure you understand that I'm the one who's lucky to have my boys, and our family is very close. My husband is a wonderful father to our boys and does everything right (most of the time.) When he met the potential new baby he was putty, but even though we both know we'd fall hard for this special little man, we want to make sure it's right. And it's never a sure thing, that everything will be smooth sailings and constant rainbows and butterflies. I very much appreciate your ability to give your honest opinion and remind me of any potential pitfalls... you're right, that IS a real friend! And even though you never know what will happen with their health, the agency gets them fixed and all their shots and testing to make sure they're healthy and adoptable. But it is true, that a new baby brings stress along with joy and you never know when you grow your family what unexpected situations could occur. Money is tight right now, from medical bills, and will be for a couple of more months. I think we could provide him with a good life, filled with lots of love. I'm just trying to be careful and just do the adoption if it is the best decision for my family, but how can I possibly do that when I can't predict the future? Please lend your collective ears in order to help me sort through the noise and find out if it's right, or if he could be good for everyone. I love you guys!

Mary, emoticon The raw buffalo was for the dog. I hadn't fed him breakfast yet.

Oh and you gave Pam GREAT advice. I should have been as thoughtful as you, and looked at the whole picture.

As you know, or maybe you don't. Our current dog has had health problems, since he was 6 months old. It's been a huge time and financial commitment. But he is the sweetest thing EVER and embodies all the best qualities of each of our previous pets (dogs & cats). My life wouldn't have been complete without him, and I don't know if he would have been the same dog or if we would have had the same connection if he hadn't had as many health problems.

Anyway, his breeder, (we love her, very responsible breeder, required all his littermates to be spayed, as soon as she learned ours had health issues, and she spayed his mother) feels so bad about how sick he's been that she always tells us, that whenever we're ready our next puppy is free. But my husband and I know that there is no such thing as a free puppy. The true cost starts once you bring the puppy home.

Hey girls! emoticon

Pam! Great job doing Tracy and all that housework...my house could sure use 2 hours of deep-cleaning! Hope you're not too sore tomorrow! & hope you have no more icy mornings!

emoticon Now for the kitty question...you are such a wonderful kitty mom...any feline would be so lucky to live with you!...the first thought I had when I read your question is that you and hubby both need to be 1000% on board with bringing this new addition home to the family...you've been under a lot of stress lately so you don't need to add something that could potentially add more stress (if the kitties don't get along as well as you hope)...also although it's only $30 there is always the potential for unexpected vet bills when we add a new baby to our families ...sometimes I'm way too practical but I wouldn't be a very good friend if I wasn't honest about my concerns...we don't have cats at home so I don't know much about cat sociology...(but I do have 3 that live behind my work which we feed (and let sleep in the warehouse when it's cold or rainy)...they really are sweet!)...let us know what you decide!

Marki...Buffalo Tartar!...never tried it but I bet it's yummy! Let us know what you find out from the MRI...sure hope it's easily treatable!

Have a great Tuesday!

Pam emoticon Congratulations on getting some Tracy done! And I admire your ambition of post housecleaning marathon. Glad you didn't get hurt. Now don't try that again. emoticon Dealing with snow and ice when driving would definitely be hard for me. Stay safe. Glad things are calming down there.

Although, I'm currently only the mom to one fur baby of the canine variety, Not that long ago, we had 2 cats and 2 dogs. I definitely don't think your boys would feel abandoned by you, if you get a new kitten. But, my fear would be that the new cat, could upset the balance. in the house. What if it too was incredibly playful, and rather than just playing with Owen, they both teamed up against Haiku? They say when you get three kids together, one always starts to feel left out or picked on. What if that happens with animals too? But, you might want to drop by Regina's page. (Previously SandyToes new SP name IYA EKUNDAYO) She hasn't posted to the team lately, since she was dealing with some health issues, and might not see it in time, but she is a fabulous kitty mommy. Last year she added another new kitten and then later even a new puppy. So, I bet she'd have great advice.

Mary, your Thanksgiving sounds fabulous. Love the high keto yummies. Hope you're staying warm.

I had my MRI yesterday. So now I just have to wait for my appointment. I'm off to fix breakfast for the family. Pumpkin Paleo pancakes. emoticon Oh, and raw free range buffalo. emoticon
