when I have a smoothie it is now just straight veges.

I make a power coffee each day, 1 tablespoon each of gelatin, psyllium, instant coffee and brewers yeast, half a tablespoon of creatine, leucine and glutamine, 1 diet shake, 2 coffee pods and some hot water then kefir.
i have a cupboard full of supplements that i am not currently taking.
daily i take a strong multivitamin, a magnesium tablet and 20001u of vitamin D.
Cheers richard

I have also been known to self-sabotage.
A Christmas treat is nice, but making it a habit can create big problems for me.
Today I had a hot chocolate which had chocolate. While I loved it, I don't think that it was much better than the tea I had with cocoa bark in it.
The tea was called Christmas in Paris. I will definitely add it to my healthy treat list!

Yes, I feel more energised.

Know all about yoyoing weight as you would see by my September number.

For me the up-down was more caused by self-sabotage as well as not sticking to a regular eating pattern.

Cheers Richard

For me, the hardest part of losing weight was feeling good when the weight was gone.

Here is what happened to me as I began my weight-loss journey.
After losing 12 pounds, I didn't feel right-almost as though something was missing. Something WAS missing of course. No one ever told me that I would feel this way. I ended up gaining back 13 pounds quicker than I lost 12.
No one told me that I would not feel like my "old self". I had to embrace the new self if I ever wanted to change.

I take days off when I have to. When it's too cold or when I am unable to get in my workout.
Also, gentle yoga is not the same kind of workout as walking 3 miles.

Bravo for consistency,
But Sparkpeople says that exercising 3 days a week can be adequate and that it is good to have some rest days.
Do you every have a rest day?
Having said that I always try to exercise each day.

I have heard that in lieu of jogging:
If you walk around at a superfast pace, then this elevates your heart-rate and breathing.
(also gets you to places quicker)
At a school they may frown upon this, because of the risk of a collision, but there are always other places.
Taking stairs can be beneficial too.
Cheers Richard

Dear friends, have you considered blogging? It is a great way to become accountable. You can also check your progress and see patterns in your behavior. I find that by the end of summer, I am in great shape. Unfortunately, by the end of the school year, I'm having difficulty with my glucose levels. Getting in 60 minutes of exercise a day is key to my plan. When the school year is ending, I'm really busy and taking time for a jog is tough.

Thats why I portion out my chocolate to 1 row at a time.
It would be easy to eat more, some of the cocoa components induce a "feel-good" state.
But there would be a lag before this happens, thats why it would be easy to overeat.
Carbohydrate also boosts the production of Serotonin, the feel-good hormone, once again there is a lag between eating and it happening. The sugar in chocolate would help this boost too.
Cheers

Good point Richard!
Right now I need to cut back on the chocolate for my glucose levels. for me, calories are a secondary matter.
Yesterday I ate the chocolate chips from the bag. not even dark chocolate. Today I'm home alone again with chocolate in the house. I will do my quilting, and leave the chocolate chips alone.

I constantly have to fight with the rationale that if one is good, two is better. When I've eaten 4-5 small dark chocolates, I have no excuse.
I can permanently change this bad habit.

I'm not sure how much cocoa is in my dark chocolate.
It's time to find out!

whenever possible I buy 70% cocoa blocks of chocolate
I then try to confine myself to 1 small row per day
I understand how easy it is to have more
bye the way it doesnt make a difference if it is normal eating or so-called cooking chocolate
Cheers Richard

You're right about the potato. I try to stay away from the potato as much as possible.
I am controlling Type II Diabetes with food and exercise as well as the meds. Potato is one of my downfalls. Once I start, I often just keep consuming the stuff.
I do my best to stay away from it, and hardly ever buy it.
The plan works well for me.
Now if I could do the same with dark chocolate.....

A sachet is a plastic bag, the frozen spinach we get in Australia usually comes in a cardboard box containing plastic bags(portions) of spinach.

When over spicing or salting foods, potato can be useful for dampening down excess flavor
(I imagine that pearl barley, lentils and split peas would do the same)

Your plan with the extra veges and some extra water would probably work too

Cheers Richard

Sounds tasty! What's a sachet?
an onion?
Last night I ate the sausage and kale soup. Unfortunately, the garlic was stronger than expected. I'll add more veggies to quiet the garlic down. Maybe a few cooked carrots.
