I've been doing the lemon juice in warm water for years and it REALLY helps me. It's supposed to clear out the mucous in our digestive track that accumulates as we sleep. It also stimulates a BM. I can't go a morning without my warm water and lemon!

I keep it simple. My liver likes simple. The liver is your power horse, power house, your life line to blood health. Your blood is your life, your whole body's life.
Sometimes we get so caught up in trying to do all we can, that we forget to keep it simple.
Room temp water, cool water, warm water, all water is good. I also think during the day, treat yourself to some of those other great healthy natural food items mixed in with your water.
If you drink reverse osmosis water like I do, do not forget to be adding trace minerals with your water or with your other foods. Reverse osmosis water has nothing in it, it has been filtered out. And please please do not drink from plastic containers filled with water or city water. Did you ever hear of a gold fish dying when you put it into tab water? Makes you think.
Be your own source for water and make it good and healthy. Simple filters work as do the pitchers with filters. Please know the real source of what you put in your body.

I have been reading about drinking lemon water first thing in the morning since I first started researching juicing and cleanses in August. I started doing it around November. I add the juice of 1 lemon to 16 oz of warm water (90-95 degrees F- yes I measure with a thermometer). I haven't noticed any reaction.

More recently I have seen this recommended by several people on several sites. Even if you don't have lemons, starting your day with 8 plus ounces of pure water is good for you. Over night your body works on clearing out toxins so drinking even plain water first thing in the morning helps flush them out so the body won't reabsorb them.

I drink about 16 oz of warm water with lemon each morning, first thing. I haven't had any symptoms that I can attribute to that yet. But, for whatever reason, I have always been "regular". Will be taking 4 days next month to do raw only, including the lemon water flush and will interested to see what happens.

Or, maybe 16 oz isn't enough. How much do you drink? And what is a "cold" cleanse?

Thanks for all of the wonderful threads of information. I may have to quit my job just to follow all the links and watch all the videos.

The ginger I could perhaps see because of its benefits but I don't know if it will give the one two punch of hitting your liver on an empty stomach. Now instead of just using energy to digest the lemon it is now taking added energy to digest the ginger.

The stevia the same thing and I would think it would have to be the actual leaves of the stevia but now you are adding another thing for your body to digest. Processed stevia, no way!

That is just my opinion.

I love Marcus Samuelson by the way. I would love to eat in one of his restaurants when I decide to maybe start incorporating cooked food back into my diet. I love Ethiopian food and it is so good for you. I love watching him on various cooking shows or in cooking challenges.

The link Liv2Ride provided I think is good if you are coming down or already have a cold or sore throat. I think it will help release congestion and or mucus but again I think all the added ingredients as healthy as they may be will tax the process I am trying to accomplish with my liver first thing in the morning.

Again just my opinion.

I will also say it took me a couple of days to get used to drinking the juice of a whole lemon even though it is diluted in the water. It is sour but I pushed through it and now it doesn't bother me.

I like to add a little ginger and cayenne pepper. It sounds weird but it's pretty good. You can also add a bit of your choice of sweetener if you choose. Here is the article that introduced me to this particular lemony drink.

I actually went and bought some beautiful lemons this a.m.Am going to start my day with the lemon water tomorrow.I actually love lemons and have been adding a little lemon juice to my water for a while but used to use bottled lemon,so we'll see how this goes. Diane

I'm really new to the world of raw food and cleanses. Even though I eat a predominantly vegan diet, I consume animal products now and then; but it's never often and gets less and less over time. I have, however, read about lemon in warm water for years. I think I've reached a point where I'm ready to try it. I often keep water with lemon slices in the fridge and love it. I have a lot of "away from home" commitments for the next few days, so I think I'll start the day with this drink on Monday. (Er um, I just want to be near "facilities" in case I have an unusual reaction.)

I can't take credit for this, Erin actually turned me onto this. She told me this was something she did every morning. I started doing this Lemon Flush because I thought perhaps my liver was failing. I had chronic diarrhea since September so I started to read all I could about my liver and I came across this and discussed it with Erin. After only a few days of doing the Liver Flush my diarrhea has ceased. My rosacea has been under control as well.

Ok, this one is personal. I started drinking the juice of one freshly squozed lemon in about 24 ozs of warm water when I wake up. TRAVELNISTA and a couple of my raw food buds do the same and say it is helping them.

I did it the first day yesterday. In about 4 hours I started a "cold" like cleanse and it is continuing this morning. Yuck! I hate detox!!

Have you ever tried this? What do you think of it?
