Happy July 1st. Hope today is a wonderful day for everyone.
I don't plan to do a lot today since I did so much yesterday. I did get in a hours walk this morning but that'll be it today. My back is letting me know it's ready for the heating pad.

No, I don't need the thread to track my steps, but thanks.
Today has been a long day for me and it's not done yet. I got in 5 hours of walking today and my legs have pretty much disowned me. I'll take it really easy the rest of the day. Got in all my shopping for the foods needed for the 10 day Daniel Fast I start on tomorrow. So everything is ready. Hubby is on board with me doing it which was a surprise, but we'll see how the next 10 days go. Wish me luck.

Hey, thanks for the reminder about the pedo! My battery is out and need to stop by the drug store and pick on up.

Seems like we have some things in common - I was an assistant in an apt complex; well the manager was about a year away from retiring and refused to learn the new computer system so guess who pretty much did it all. If I remember we got 25% off rent, $8/hour and then got bonus' every time we got a new lease signed. There were 80+ apartments in the place so we had a maintenance person and a housekeeper & I stayed in the office.

Do you want a July steps thread to track? emoticon

Tomorrow will be our bill paying and grocery day so I'll be on my feet for hours again. I'm going to make sure I wear my pedometer. Last shopping day I got in over 20,000 steps.

The ones I had, I made a flat rate of $25.00 per trailer and sometimes I had 2-4 trailers per day to clean up. But then some weeks I didn't have more than 1 trailer for the whole week.
My hubby and I were also managers of a small apartment complex for about a year back in the mid 90's. I did all the bookwork and cleaning, and he did all the repairs. When a tenant moved out I'd clean the apt and if it needed repainting, etc., I'd help Bob do that. During that year, we got a reduced rent on our apt., no utility bills, plus we each made $250.00 a month for being managers. That was a good job. The complex only had 24 apts and most of the tenants had been there for years. When we left there after the year, we moved down here to Florida and have been here 13 years now.

Oh, man - that had to be a rough job! At least with the vacation rentals guests check in typically for 7-14 nights and usually leave places okay. The condos are pretty nice/upscale and the homeowners rely on me to be the property manager of sorts. This one particular client is just over the top unfair, greedy and snooty. The only thing that's stopping me is even though it's "only" $180 a month - it's still needed income!

We'll see what happens....tomorrow.

I know how it is. I used to clean up rentals after people moved out for a trailer park and I know what kind of messes are left behind and some property owners can be the pits.

Out of curiosity I Googled the Daniel Cleanse and now have a better idea of what you are doing. It sounds pretty interesting! Let me know how it's going.

Hope you didn't over do it so much on Wednesday that you are sore and unable to move much today.

Off to work today. Am considering dropping a "problem client". I work and work, give my time away for free trying to please them and never seem to be able to, even for a moment. I don't need the stress and aggravation they bring into my life and their condescending way is bothersome. I may be "just a housekeeper" but I will not play subservient slave to them just because they obviously have far more education and money than I. Whew, got that off my chest!
Oh, I know I'm not "just a housekeeper", LoL - it's not like it's rocket science, but it is a good job and comes with a lot of responsibilities with these vacation rentals. Before the economy crash I was making a lot of money and expect to do the same as things begin turning up again...so I'm not bashing myself, my job and certainly not the earning potential (just these particular homeowners who have a poor attitude).

Okay, it's done for now...better get a few other things posted and spin the wheel.

During the cleanse, no cream sauces can be used, no dairy at all. I could possibly do lettuce wraps, etc., but I'm just going to keep it as simple as I can for the 10 days. After that I'll change it up since I'll be back adding some protein and dairy to it.
It was a nice day for a change here so I got out and cut the grass while hubby used the weed whacker and leaf blower. Then I came in and did 2 loads of clothes and got in a hour of walking. My hips are telling me now it's time for the heating pad.

That sounds pretty interesting, Vicki. LoL, you'll be the star member of the Freggie Team!
Are you able to do all fruit/frozen smoothies? I guess when you say "no sauces" that means nothing is cooked or heated (as in fresh tomatoes for a tommy sauce). But I would guess you could blend up fresh tomatoes, garlic, onion & basil & put it over zucchini strips (use a veg peeler to make "noodles"); or make a salsa with fresh tomatoes, onion, garlic, lime & cilantro and use thin slices of carrot, zuch & celery for "chips". Oh, I just thought of using a lettuce leaf filled with veggies and then topped with either of the sauces. You have my cooking imagination running wild.

I'm with you on the fish & eggs. There's no way I could live out here with the abundance of fresh fish and not have any...ever! Oh, it's soooo ono! (ono is the Hawaiian word for basically something that tastes really yummy). There's a local farmer who has non-caged, organic, happy chickens and sells his excellent eggs at the Farmer's Market. LoL, I take my own egg carton and he knocks 50 cents off the price of a dozen. Funny story - I clean vacation rentals and obviously people buy groceries and leave stuff behind. I collected a dozen empty egg cartons and gave them to him - he gave me 6 free eggs! What a deal! There's a lot of the barter system going on out here.

Let me know how the fast/cleanse is going!

Good Morning Team. Hope everyone is having a nice start to the day. Here, it's still pouring rain thanks to Debbie but it is supposed to taper off and by the weekend be only 30 % rain. But temps will be in the upper 90's.
Starting the 1st of July I plan to do the Daniel Fast for 10 days. For those that don't know what that is; it's eating nothing but veggies and fruits, with no sauces, etc., and only drinking water. The only change I'm making to it is that I'll have my 2 cups of black coffee each morning. It's considered a cleansing diet, to help clear out impurities in your system. I just figured it'd be a jumpstart to helping me get into the vegan diet a little more fully. I'll never go completely vegan since I eat fish and I'll still eat eggs, etc., but for the 10 days it'll just be fruits and veggies. I'll let you know how it does.

Went to sleep around 9pm, woke at 1am. Tossed around until 4am then slept until 8am....got 8 hours but in two shifts. I'll blame it on hormones!

Not much to say - well there's stuff going on, but it's mostly junk about work and who wants to hear about that?

How was your Monday, Vicki?

It is completely like a soft serve frozen sorbet and a little creamy if you use a few oz of milk (or almond or soy milk). yummy!

I barely got 3 freggie servings in yesterday....didn't eat the salad stuff but did have some pineapple slices a banana and cucumber slices.

Didn't get much sleep last night - as in 2 hours total - so I'm struggling today not only with energy but fighting wanting to take a nap which would turn into a 4 hour snooze and really mess up the sleep for tonight again.

I think I'm going to do some stocking up on the fruits to freeze them and make the smoothies. That way I'll get the benefits and it'll be like a dessert too.

I hear ya on the tight budget...I'm single out here and have a small business that is 100% based on tourism. Economy has hit hard, but we are seeing some improvement.

One thing that has saved me with freggies is making an all fruit (with a little almond milk) smoothie. Sometimes I either buy to much fruit or the store/FM has over ripe fruit on sale. I'll portion it out in baggies and freeze it for use later on in smoothies. Kal (FitNHealthyKal) tosses spinach in her smoothies and swears it's great...I haven't gotten that brave yet.

Got the "stuff" chopped for a salad (cuc, zuch, carrots, onion jicama, etc) just need to get the greens washed and chopped for adding later on...finding it's easier to chop all the "stuff" for two good salads at the same time so all I have to do is chop greens to complete the salad today & again tomorrow.

Thanks for popping in and love your tracker!

I'm really trying to get in more fruits and veggies. Hubby isn't big on veggies at all so it's tough when you're on a very tight budget like we are. But if nothing else I'm trying to get in more salads and Summer fruits while they're cheap at the fruit stands and farmers market.

Good morning!

I need to really get back to basics and on track; wondering if anyone else would like to to post a daily goal here?

My nutrition (using this word instead of "diet" because it's easily confused with the torturous activity of reducing calories) has been terrible as of late, either very little or over the top binge. I know it's a direct result of mood swings and depression - but even that sounds like a poor excuse right now.

My goal today is to eat 3 servings of freggies. Sounds easy enough but like I said, when I'm eating very little to nothing or bingeing on a bowl of mashed potatoes, three freggies is a bit of a challenge.

Have a great Friday and see you all soon!

I have heard of & done calorie cycling - and it did bust me out of a plateau. Here's the but ... (there's always an okole), it took a bus load of time to plan and exactly track to really do it right and be successful.

What worked for me was: low, mid, low, high, repeat (1200, 1500, 1200, 1800 calories). I planned exercise as mostly mid range intensity...no walking 12 minute miles for me!! What didn't seem workable was the time commitment to pre-planning, pre-tracking and having to be so precise not only with calories but protein, fat, carbs and most certainly the sodium. It was exactly like being on a diet! Yuck! It didn't take in to account that life DOES exist outside of a calorie tracker and you have to know that having a cookie on a down day might jack up the rest of the week.

There are people who follow a crazy DDUD diet (down day up day) to the tune of 500 calories on DD and 1700+ on an UD. There's even a SP team....but can't remember if it's DDUD or UDDD. Whatever, to join you have to buy a book and pay a fee to the author's website; then there's a lolo pre-diet type cleanse you have to follow (for 6 weeks I think). Can't remember.

I could probably cycle successfully for a couple three weeks to jump start not only weight loss but getting back into the habit of planning, measuring & tracking every crumb and morsel. But it's not a program to be on and maintain forever.

uhm, on that belly fat....I've always battled a "below the belly button bulge". But with the addition of peri-menopause there's not only B4 there's now an above the belly button bulge (AB3) and it looks AWFUL! It gets enormous with even a 1 pound gain. I hear your pain!

Oh, I'm all good on the rhubarb front...lol! Hi Kal!

I am considering calorie cycling having reached a realization that even WW and brown rice, whole grains etc. are causing internal and external tummy issues. Prior to menopause I never had issues with belly fat. Now....let's not go there. I need to look at anything that isn't ridiculously radical and can be done on a permanent basis on my journey in order for me to love me in my skin. Have you heard of it?

My rhubarb is proliferous. Anyone like some?

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, favorite cocktail in one hand - strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming holy sh*t - WHAT A RIDE!
