I have both programs. Fire comes with a hybrid schedule so you can get the best of both worlds. I saw the fat melt off faster with fire, but I felt stronger with Extreme, The hybrid rocks!

With Extreme, you will need some heavier weights. We bought the adjustable select-tecs (sorry, not sure on the spelling). Some exercises I'd be doing 25 lbs., others I needed 7 1/2 depending on the body part and the workout. She does have one of her group always model use of a resistance band, but it is not required. She did not use a bench. I don't recall any balls used in any of the routines.

Hi - I'm new to this team and I've been considering getting the Extreme program. Just wondering what kind of equipment do I need at home. I have a few weigts - but not sure if I have enough. I'm not a big fan of resistance bands. Do i need a bench or ball or anything?

Thanks for all the great comments about the Chalene programs. I've been on the fence between the Fire and Extreme and think I'll start with the Extreme. Between cardio at the gym, a few classes a week too and weights, I think it will fit in nicely.

The hybrid schedule is included as one of the plans in Turbofire. If the seller does not include the book send me a Sparkmail and I can copy it and email it to you.

I'm doing the happy dance! Ordered the new CLX dvds to add to my collection, and got turbo fire on ebay!!! Yeah! I've got a new plan of attack. I'm so excited! Now I need to find the hybrid program to help me out.

Thanks! I think I'll put Turbo Fire on my next purchase list. I need to get the extra discs from CLX first. TF is pricey and I'm going to have to save up for it. I'm looking forward to the extra fat melting off and seeing my CLX muscles.

Lynn,

After I did CLX, TurboFire REALLY made a difference! Stubborn weight came off and I actually had more muscle definition..probably because the fat that had been covering it came off. emoticon . The New to Class option is a lifesaver! I have 2 left feet, so I need all the help I can get.

The Lean for Life phase of CLX is great if you've reached your goals, or just want to keep going with that program but want a little variety.

I'm finishing up the Lean month from CLX and trying to figure out what I want to do next- the month 4 she has listed, or repeat from the burn month, or go to totally different workout (thinking about Turbo Fire). I've been adding in my Turbo Jam for cardio on non circuit days. What worked for you?

Sarah,

I think I'm going to try and do the TJ workouts and then throw in some Fire when I'm feeling frisky! I've watched the Fire DVD's and it's a bit intimidating. Insanity is no problem, but the moves for Fire kinda make my brain melt haha. So I think I'm going to start Chalean tomorrow morning with some of the forty minute cardio from Jam and then in my week two start to push for one fire dvd a week and go from there. Hopefully I'll get the moves down so I don't waste a workout flailing around my living room!

If you are looking to tone up as your focus I would do what you said and go with CLX and then add in your Jam. If you wanted to see results faster I would do CLX and add in cardio from FIRE. FIRE is more intense than Jam but also bc your body has been doing Jam for a while so it may respond quicker to something different like FIRE. You could follow the hybrid that came with your FIRE schedule or you could do your own version based on how much time you have. I'm doing CLX (the weight days) on M/W/F and then doing cardio from FIRE on T/TH/S (saturday if i have time). Then doing abs with the CLX. You will also see results if you want to save FIRE to do as a whole and do your Jam with CLX now...what do you think? :-)

Hey everyone!

I'm stuck! I finished Turbo Jam and lost about ten pounds and have some good definition going but I want to tone more but still lose some fat around the thighs. I have both Turbo Fire and Chalean Extreme (Amazon is amazing!) but I don't know which one to start first. I saw the hybrid schedule but I want to do them both individually before I go and combine them. I have weights and everything already. Which would be better to tone up more but still burn some fat? Maybe Chalean Extreme with some Turbo Jam cardio five times a week? Any suggestions?

I think you will be so happy that you ordered CLX. Chalene said part of it came from her having to figure what to do when her body wasn't responding to the normal cardio she was doing anymore as she was getting close to 40. It will totally give your body that boost in your metabolism that you are looking for!

not that this is the way to go for everyone but after having been sick a good portion of last winter, i decided to re-jumpstart my workout routine with turbojam since in have had the full dvd set for a few years now and it always seem to help me get some of my stamina back in short order. i also order chalean extreme a couple of weeks ago because now that i am 40+1 (soon to be 40+2), i was looking for a way to really increase ability to burn fat which i know is done by increasing muscle mass. that is my primary reason for picking CLX over TF. i just finished reading all my materials and am now ready to being my first phase on monday. wish me luck!!! emoticon

I am a huge fan of Turbo Jam and Turbo Fire (I have been doing Turbo Jam off and on for 3 years, and I just started my 4th week of Turbo Fire.). I have been contemplating Chalean Extreme. Can anyone tell me about Chalean Extreme? I would like to do a hybrid of Turbo Fire and Chalean Extreme. But do I need to wait until I finish my 12 week schedule on Turbo Fire?

Any advice anyone can give me would be great! I am seriously considering Chalean Extreme, I am just curious as to what others have to say about it!!

If you have been exercising all your life and used to be a runner, I say go for the Turbo Fire, unless your doctor doesn't think it's a good idea. I would ask your doctor. You could follow Ally (the modifier) in TF. If money is a factor, try Turbo Jam. It is half the price. You can get the add on stuff at the same time and they give you a discount. (The Elete package) I have that. IT has additional 5 workout dvds.

Also, Sarah is a Beach Body Coach. She will have all the answers and you can get it through her if you don't have a BB Coach yet.

Cruise Lover,

I've been exercising pretty much my whole life and was a runner up until a few months ago (my knee can't take it anymore). Right now I'm mainly doing lots of strength training and some low impact cardio (mainly walking and some videos).

Rebytr, how long have you been exercising? What kind of workouts do you do now?

TF is more high impact than TJ. I am scared for my knees too. I do a lot of the modifications in TF! I still get a great workout! I love them both.

I need help choosing between Turbo Jam and Turbo Fire. I'm in fairly decent shape and am working on losing the last few pounds. However, I had a knee injury last year and still can't handle large amounts of high impact moves. Should I start out with Turbo Jam or just do the low impact modifications on Turbo Fire?

Thanks for your help!

Jessica, I have not had any kids. Maybe I am not the best person to listen to. :) But, i agree listen to your body. I think out of the three, TJ is the easier one. I would try that first and then move on when you feel you are ready. Maybe try it for a month? Move on to TF or CLX or the hybrid.

Hi Jessica!

If you do want Cardio i think TurboJam would be good, maybe start off the low impact way like Mindy and AnaRita and gradually move up. I'm in awe by how your mentality is awesome to start working out once the baby is here! i was lazy and didn't work out until my son was 15mos old! but next time around i plan to do TJ when i'm pregs until i can't anymore. :) If you feel comfy with ST like Sarah mentioned, do CLX.

Sarah! i'm so glad you started this Discussion topic! :) this is such an informative, motivating and inspirational group! :)

Have you done all 3 before?

After my last baby I did CLX for the first time. I actually waited about 6 months before I started but I know you can totally get back into it before that. I was just thinking if you did strength training from CLX or did the Sculpt/Tone/Core from Fire it wouldn't be as intense on your body as jumping around doing a HIIT workout or anything. You could do the strength training and then add in cardio from Jam or do the modified version of one of the Fire cardio's.

Like you said I think you'll have to listen to your body- I remember trying to do an ab workout from CLX when Zac was like 8 weeks old and after a minute I still new it was too early.

As for the hybrid I am TOTALLY a fan. I think CLX is my fav workout now but I need the cardio from FIRE. So what I did was do CLX weights days on MWF and then did cardio from FIRE on TThS- i would throw abs in the mix and was really bad about getting the stretching in. There is the schedule that comes with FIRE but I just liked having something more routine about what kind of workout on what days so i could mentally be prepared. (And since I had done CLX alone before as a full program when i did the hybrid my way I just did each phase in 2 week increments to keep it from getting boring.)

Hope this helps some! Congrats on your little girl coming soon! :-)

I have all 3 programs. What I'm wondering about is how to get started again after I have this baby...

I'm thinking I should start with TurboJam for a while, but I'm anxious to get started on TurboFire. I know I'm not in good enough shape, though, so I'm wondering how long before I can phase it in? I'm also hoping to do the TF/CX hybrid, but not sure when.

I know I'll just have to take cues from my body regarding how ready I am to up the intensity.

I've wanted badly to become a runner, too. I was just getting going with C25K when I got pregnant (and super exhausted!). Needless to say, I'm going to want to plug that into my routine as well.

Any thoughts?

Jessica

TurboJam, TurboFIRE, and ChaLEAN Extreme are all amazing programs that will totally transform you body. If you are not sure which one is for you please feel free to ask questions and hopefully we all can give you enough information to help you figure out which one is for you!

A general overview:

TurboJam~ Great for beginners. Mainly cardio with some strength training when you get past the first basic 5 DVD's.

TurboFIRE~ I often say is like TurboJam on speed. The focus is intense cardio and she includes HIIT classes which are High Intensity Interval Training. There are strength training DVD's that come with it, ab workouts and 2 stretch DVD's.

ChaLEAN Extreme~ Is like having a personal trainer at home. There are 3 phases: Burn, Push, and Lean where she helps you build muscle that will help boost your metabolism and burn more fat. There is also a stretch workout, ab workout and 2 cardio workouts.

I often say that FIRE is cardio with strength training on the side and ChaLEAN Extreme is strength training with cardio on the side.

If you are looking for a Chalene workout in a gym setting you can try turbokick which is like TurboJam, and she also has PiYO and HipHopHustle in gyms.
