They won game 3. Tomorrow they play a team from Michigan. Supposedly the game can be watched on youtube!
Congrats, BERYL! Glad you're below the "nervous" number :)

Happy hot Saturday tem!
Peg, of COURSE they won! That team is unstoppable! Best of luck to them on game 3!
Down 1.2 at WI. Finally under 150 again. That number makes me anxious. It's all relative. 200 used to make me anxious. Working out twice a day seems to be the key. But that will end pretty soon. Only walked today. Tomorrow maybe a bike ride and a walk?
DD is off to Mali. For 2 weeks. Yay. How pathetic I'm hoping she'll find a nice Mali guy (Malian?) and ditch the loser?? lol
Roasting cauliflower and brussels sprouts. Smells so good in here. I think we're doing Korean BBQ tonight. Love it.
Have a good evening ladies. Hope you're all doing well.

Thanks, BERYL.
Mom's stories change all the time, but she believes them to be true. My grandmother always said that getting old was not for the weak. (She lived to be nearly 96)

TGIF ladies. Hot again, very sunny, not quite as humid. Did zumba this morning. Can't do it again tonight so feeling a little anxious...
Peg, I had to look at those lovely paintings several times to realize they were not photographs. They are just beautiful!! You are so talented. Fingers crossed for DGS!
Oh, Nicky, I'm so sorry about SM. How hard on both of you!
DD, DB, and I have found my mother to be lying. Why DD can't visit, why this, why that.....she tells one of us one thing, another another story. She does't realize I guess that we compare notes. I feel it's volitional, but if not, she's taken a real downward spiral if she thinks this is all the truth. I have no clue. DD has tried to visit her a few times recently, all met with excuses. Her loss, I get that, but then she is quick to change her schedule when my brother came down to fish, told him DD said she was coming on Tuesday, then called DD to say she was going to go fish with DB on Wednesday, so don't come down. HUH??
This getting old isn't for the wimpy.
Have a good day ladies.

Good afternoon Team!
Guess I'll try this again, posting that is.
Went biking with ex-hubs this morning and saw two bears on the rail trail. One, a cub that crossed in front of us quite a distance away. The other just standing by the swampy area looking at us. Figured he was out for his/her morning entertainment watching the few bikers and runners on the trail. Sort of had the expression...wth are you looking at...
Now the squirrels have gone crazy. About seven of them are chasing each other around and using my shrubs as a jungle gym and playing hide and seek. It's "cat tv" outside every window.
NICKY, good to hear from you. I have experienced the "bank meltdown" with mom (and the grocery store one, too) It's a full time job trying to keep things watered here and to think, June was wetter than usual. Guessing July was not. I have been going to pastels class. Will upload a couple of pics.
BERYL, how nice to have DD join you for muscle pump and Taste of Delaware sounds like fun.
LORI, feeling better, I hope.

DGS is in Brooklyn for the tournament/world series. No, I will not be going down to watch.

Wishing everyone a good day...and weekend.

Caught up on your posts. Welcome back DRSUE. Love to hear from you. Actually, LOVE to hear from all of you.
Been caring for step mom and taking her on errands in the Dreaded Valley. Sooooooo hot AND muggy.
I grew up mostly in the Dreaded Valley (called San Fernando Valley), and it was, of course, very hot in the summer. Since then, though, there are thousands more pools, lawns, and foliage. It's much more muggy than when I lived there.

I drive a small car; getting a 95-year-old in and out of it, low to the ground, putting the walker in and out of the trunk, walking her to the destination was pure, unadulterated he$$, literally.
She gets confused easily. Dealing with the bank and the HMO's customer service in one day was too much for her. She almost broke down and cried at the bank when she couldn't speak with the usual manager.
Not a good day.

LORI, boo! UTIs are the pits. Sometimes d-mannose can be quicker than cranberry. They both work the same way, acting as decoy molecules to which the nasties attach themselves and then get flushed out. It can be obtained in powder form, too, but pineapple contains that sugar. Sounds like with the antibiotics and stuff, you've got a good handle on it.

DRSUE, sounds like you had an ideal time away. We're not supposed to negative talk about ourselves; we're supposed to forgive and move on. I find that so difficult. Doesn't help.

BERYL, when does school start for you? Doesn't muscle pump use heavy weights? Is it also aerobic?

Hello to KATHIE. Hope you are checking in here, if not posting. You are missed.

ROSEY, are you busy with the grands? I sure hope you're not alone!

PEG, have you had time to go to pastels? Bugs ate all of my basil, so I'm just buying a basil plant at TJs and keeping inside. Seems to really need a lot of water to keep the leaves from drooping, but the flavor is super strong; love it.

I'm wishing all a good weekend. I have promised myself to be super OP. I've been gorging on summer fruit, which doesn't seem to help WL.

When you arise in the morning,

give thanks for the morning light, for your life and strength.

Give thanks for your food and the joy of living.

If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies in yourself.

Lori, feel better. UTIs are the worst! Glad you caught it quickly.
Peg, been there, done that. lol
First time home since 8:30 this morning. Long day, but everything done. WHEW!!
Went to the Best of Delaware Party tonight. Drank WAY too much, ate a lot, but not bad. Still hungry in fact....might have some leftovers from the other night. Did muscle pump and zumba this morning. DD2 did muscle pump too wilth me. Wish she'd started sooner--she goes back to work Monday...what a fiasco that's going to be...
Looking forward to a quieter day tomorrow!
Have a good one ladies.

Hello Team,

Oh man, it's hot, hot and hotter here. We had a thunderstorm sans rain and lightning, a while ago. Babies went home Tuesday morning. Good visit, just so tough on my body. Went to urgent care and was diagnosed with a UTI, I already knew it but felt it has gone long enough, got antibiotics, cranberry tablets and probiotic acidophilus. Have to heal up cuz I'm going back to their home on the 4th. The heat up there is 10 degrees hotter and that is most likely where my UTI began, I remember the day well.

Beryl, I'm with the team, it is your Mom's loss. Us, Savta's cannot even imagine Not spending time with the babies. I think it's her generation, cuz my Dad is can't understand my connection with them. In fact, I have to tell him that he is the one who should have spoiled our kids not treat them like they did their children. Oh well, maybe a lost cause.

Peg, stay cool and do rest. I'm watering my plants every other day, in this nasty, no good, heat. We turn off the A/C when it drops, we put in the fans and try to sleep yet too humid, closed everything. Oh well, A/C bill will prevail. I hope that you will feel better soon. ~hugs

Kellie, love to see all the FB pics of your garden.

Dr. Sue, glad to hear that you had a good time. How are the fur babes?

Hello our precious Kathie, we miss you.

Hi Rosie, how are you doing?

~stay cool and many hugs, Lori

I'm here because I want to be healthy.

Happy HOT HOT HOT Wednesday team!
Welcome back DrSue! We missed you. Sounds like a fabulous time at camp, and good for you for getting right back on the bike. Nothing like eating, drinking, and laughing to make a person feel good!
Peg, keep cool. I still can't imagine no a/c in heat like this. I never used to use the a/c in the car. Even I am doing that now! It's just ugly out.
Did zumba this morning, then hit the farmers market, then saw a friend whose DS, DDIL and triplet grandchildren are living with them. 2 of the babies have profound disabilities. It's just so sad. It hurts my heart to see them. Sweet 3 year olds who will never walk, talk, or really move. They have a huge, gorgeous home that now looks like a hurricane went through it, and my friend, heavy to begin with, is now enormous. And won't go out. Sad all around.
Off to separate my veggies, roast some, and going to aqua zumba at 6:30 tonight at the outdoor Y pool. Should be fun!
Have a good day team!

Hi team! I'm back from camp and reality is slapping me in the face, not to mention my fat €£!
We had an awesome time out there. The weather was spectacular, hot so we stayed near the lake. I did run 4 miles one day. Then we just had a raucous good time. We laughed like crazy. However, we ate and drank ourselves silly. With the heat we were swimming, but not as much exercise. It was a great break from reality, but the pants felt tight yesterday. I did get back on the spin bike yesterday, for my mini spin and did a real one today, despite the increasing heat.

Peg, I'm sorry for your pain, but psyched for how well you are doing in your WLJ. Hope all is well with the MRI.

Beryl, it sounds like you had a great week at the shore. Not to mention the wineries. Your mom is the one missing out. My DB has the same issue at times with my Dad and his kids.
I'm glad you heard from Heidi. A very busy time for her. I hope we see her back soon.

Kellie, you sound very busy. Glad the garden is still going well.

Rosey, it does sound very isolated. I so hear you on the scary walking down the highway. I hate doing it. One thing about DH being gone during the week, is you can concentrate on YOU! Makes healthy meals that you like and make yourself a priority. I had a realization when I was at my heaviest, was I was starting to have some medical issues. My excuse was always, I don't have time to workout and eat better because I work so much. I have a business/staff/patients/ and husband that need me. Then it dawned on me -they all NEED ME! If I'm not taking care of myself then I will not be able be the best I can be for everyone else. It shifted my way of thinking. You have a lot of people that depend on you-so make sure you are there and able.

Nicky, in this weather, we do need to get up and moving early. Especially when you have a black dog as you exercise buddy!

Lori, enjoy you grand kids. Just when you recover, off you go again. I know it keeps you going, just make sure you get some rest.

Good hot steamy morning Team!
You're right, BERYL, no complaints here...I don't have to shovel the heat and I can just stay inside or float in the pool. Shame your mom is "too busy" to see the great grandchildren. As you said...her loss. Mom has a large a.c. in her living room that she turns on to cool down that room and she spends most of the day in there. She has another in her bedroom for night. But, still, the heat is kicking her a$$ and the confusion is worse. Will stop over there before I go to pastels class (in a nice cool studio). :)

Just heard back from my doc with the MRI results. I have a new herniated disc in my lower back so it's off to a neurologist I go...hi ho, hi ho! (channeling my inner dwarf...lol) Head still doesn't feel quite right, but I know it's the heat. Remembered I often felt like this when I lived in FL. I'll just stay cool and drink plenty.

Friday is supposed to be cooler and drier so I think an early bike ride is the plan.

Hoping my team is well.

Peg

Good Tuesday evening ladies. Hot here too, and only getting hotter as the week goes on. It IS summer, and we DID say we wouldn't complain when the "s" word was on the ground....LOL
Lori, enjoy the kidlets!!!
Peg, glad you stayed in and it was OK with the fans. How does your mom cope with the heat?
Kellie, my potted flowers/plants are so parched!! I am continually watering them. I think it evaporates.
Decided I couldn't stand the thought of being inside exercising today. I have no clue why. So did an hour bike ride, then a 3 mile walk a bit later. Not too bad this morning. Tomorrow WILL be inside!
DD offered to meet my mother tomorrow halfway to see the kids. My mother is too busy. WTH?? To see those precious babies? Whatever....I know her feelings are hurt, but she needs to get over it because my mother won't change. If my dad was alive, this wouldn't be an issue, but he isn't, so it's her loss. Heaven knows those kids don't lack love! lol
Kathie, thinking of you often.

Good evening Team!
Hot hot hot here and will be even hotter tomorrow. Stayed inside with shades down and fans going. Really quite comfortable. Kept Ruby in, too.
KELLIE, this weather is brutal on plants and especially containers. It can almost be a full time job just keeping them watered.

Hoping my team is well.

Hi Team, sorry for the sporadic posts – It’s been a busy couple weeks with moving our new office and very hot in Phila – I have planted another rose bush and have to water quite often so my hanging baskets don’t cook! WI has been up and down – I think I am headed in the good direction. I’m going to alternate between 10,000 steps and either cardio or weight training – seems the only way the scale starts moving again ….
Lori, Kathie and rosey – thinking of you  sending hugs

Hi team! Finished muscle pump, zumba, worked on some school work, out to lunch with DH (I am SO READY for him to go back to work), and checking in before picking up Jo.
Peg, that dizziness concerns me. Please be extra careful and good luck with the MRI. I love them! I actually fall asleep to that noise. Crazytown....
No a/c?? I'd die. I'm still having hot flashes. UGH!!
Off to check on my work email.....coming up soon! Summer goes so fast!

hello team,

Rosey, it appears as if you and Kathie have, lonliness and far away from everything in common. It breaks my heart for both of you. I have a gorgeous passeo, a park right beside my house and a dear friend a couple of miles away but do I go out and walk, sadly, no, but what I do do, is walk in place or around my house, in my garden, etc., until my body says STOP. I have too much anxiety, attached to my Fibromyalgia, and I can't make myself go out. I feel guilty, cuz you and Kathie would love to and I just can't do it. Where do you live? Nicky and I live in So. California, but the rest of our team lives back East.

Peg, I'm really sorry about all the pain you are going through. I can feel it and know, sans, Mom, everything your feeling. Oh, and by the way, with FM, emotional stress makes us hurt worse.

Beryl, of course your heart hurt, I would have had a heart attack. When the guys throw our babies up in the air and catch them, whether in the pool or not I get scared, too.

Nicky, wow, 6:30am, no way can i do that. Ever since I stopped working due to FM I can Not get up early anymore. I, like Peg, can't fall asleep at night and I do my best sleeping in the mornings.

Well DD1 and the grand babies are here and I am enjoying them, they are now old enough to clean up their own toys, Yipee!

~hugs, Lori

Good morning Team! Hot and sunny today...
Felt pretty good by last night, but this morning the lightheadedness is back. Off to mom's to take her to the dr., then grocery shopping and then bill paying (I know, I am the envy of my team...lol) Tonight I will go for the MRI.
NICKY, I don't think I tweaked it in the garden. Just the ongoing degenerative changes. I have done PT, acupuncture, chiropractic and injections. Even pilates is really bothering it now. Tried yoga. I'm kind of out of ideas. No a.c. in my house either. As for the loss, I am really excited that the weight I have left to lose is less than the weight I already lost. Does that make sense? How nice that you were able to spend time with DD and DS.
BERYL, did you enjoy your own bed? of course you did! Not surprised at Jo's fearlessness. DGS was (and is) still like that.

Thinking there is a worldwide plot against my getting sufficient sleep...went to bed around 1, phone rang at 6:30 (DB's alarm company as they had gotten a report and apparently I am the emergency contact...who knew) I called his cell and left a message and went back to bed. At 7:30 he called me to ask "what's up?" and I explained about the earlier call which didn't make sense to him. Back to bed. At 8 mom called about her dr. appt. (and yes, I just got off the phone with her as she called yet again about this appt) and then the neighbor's lawn guys came...sheesh

Hope everyone has a great day.

Peg

BERYL, welcome home to your own bed! Sounds like you had a good, relaxing time, and I lived a little of it through you.

ROSEY, maybe some walking DVDs and beginner yoga DVDs would interest you? If so, Leslie Sansone (sigh, her peppiness makes me want to throw books at the TV screen) offers some easy walks, marches, and stuff on video. I can offer some suggestions for beginner yoga videos, too.
It's all about "movement," so just dancing to some favorite music is a fabulous way to get the juices flowing.
MOVEMENT (exercise) is the best cure for depression and the blahs----changing brain chemicals better than prescriptions!

I'm an only child who was a latchkey kid. My dog was my sibling, and I was alone A LOT.
How different we all are, and I marvel at that!

Bright side and shadow side to EVERYTHING.

PEG, how wonderful you have shed those pounds!!
Maybe you tweaked your back in the garden? Hope that's it. Have you ever had PT for that issue? Chiropractic?

LORI, yes, it has been really warm and muggy here, too. If I don't get outside by 6:30 for our walk, Gunther is only good for an hour at most. My hair was soaking wet under my cool mesh baseball cap after our walk the other day.
No air conditioning, so upstairs is like a bake oven.
My office stays nice and cool, though.

DD was in town for business last week and spent Thursday and Friday nights with us. We went into Venice Beach on Friday and walked around and looked in some artsy shops. We then met up with DS for lunch, and he showed us around one his Sober Living Houses, and we had a chance to meet the "manager" and two "clients." This house is a dog-friendly one; besides being a beautiful home with an ocean view and all the amenities, the relaxing, positive atmosphere was palpable.

Here's to a great week for all of us! Let it be OP and active with NO DRAMA!!!

Good Sunday afternoon team. Hot and sunny.
Did a bike ride this morning, then to the pool to watch Jo "swim". I know you won't believe it, but she has no fear of the water. lol. She wears the vest and arm thingiies and loves to jump in. We took them off her and she jumped, then just sat at the bottom of the pool till her dad got her. I had chest pain. She was fine. lol
Can't seem to wake up today. I could go nap until tomorrow, I think! Not going to happen--off to the market.
Peg, hope you feel better.
Rosey, I feel so bad. Do you have access to a car to go to a park or a library, somewhere else just to get out? Is there a walking path near you? that sounds scary trying to walk on the highway. Do you have friends in the community?
Off to do my coupons and to the market. Have a good day ladies!

Good afternoon Team!
Started with t-storms, then sun and now...iffy
Have felt a bit under the weather...headache, lightheaded and queasy stomach. Feeling a little better now. It will pass soon.
BERYL, sounds like a great end to the vacation (if vacation ending can ever be great...lol). DD1 did recently start a new job which is going well. This vacation is unpaid as she hasn't been there long enough to accrue time.
ROSEY, sorry to hear that. No groups, meetings at the library, church, adult ed, book clubs, county cooperative ext? I remember when I taught in a very rural poor area in FL. It was difficult.
Hope the rest of the team is having a good day.

Peg

Hello team, my life is confined within a small town, no movie theaters, no bike trails, and we live within a few hundred feet of a major hwy. So other than being with grandchildren my life is quite and lived within my home. Our heat index has been reaching 99 and above every day. With our humidity it almost makes it impossible to be outside.
I love the idea of walking on a beach. I tried walking a mile to store but to get there i must walk on side of hwybwith cars and trucks passing within a few feet of me. To be honest it is scary and i finally gave it up.
School starts soon and then it will be me home 5 days a week while hubby is on the road working. Since i live a hour away from grandkids I wont see them much at all. It gets mighty lonely and i have been living this way for years.
Trying not to whine but it is just a fact of my life. Hope each of you has a wonderful week
Hugs
Rosey

Hi team. Home and trying to organize and put stuff away. Stayed all day there. Got up, did a bike ride (abbreviated), walked on the beach (ditto), sat there, came back and cleaned, left and hit a lovely small winery, then another one where we had our lunch, then the outlets. Felt terribly guilty about not seeing my mother while we were down there, so dropped in on her and Bob did a few things for her. So here we are!
Peg, great job on being upright after the strenuous hike!! Didn't your DD get a new job? How is it?
Off to read and go to bed. NOTHING like your own bathroom and bed!!
Have a good night friends.

Good morning Team!
Where is everyone? Obviously you all have much more of a life than I do...lol

Went on a hike yesterday. Much MUCH more strenuous than I anticipated. Wonderful waterfall and views were the payoff, but the hike there and back was brutal. Thought I would never walk again, but here I am, the next day and I am upright and mobile.
Off to mow the yard.

Hope everyone is well.

Hello Team,

Rosey, I'm so sorry about your DGS and DS. I do know how badly this hurts. I'm hoping that you son will get 50/50 custody at least. My DS has 40, she has 60, so we make our 40 count. I'll be praying for your heart.

Beryl, if at the beach, yay you. How awesome, love your bike rides too. I already know how you feel about me washing DD1's dishes. I think of you every time I do. She never asked me to do anything on this trip. I just dove in, cuz she was so overwhelmed.

Dr. Sue, I'm hoping that you enjoy camp and that you get some rest.

Peg, I'm sorry about your back pain, ugh! I'm probably right behind you as mine has not let up for months now. grrrrrr. Also, so sorry about your Mom. You cannot move to Australia, you would miss out on DGS's achievements.

Nicky, did you get lots of rain too? Oh man, we had lighting and thunderstorms on Saturday and was told on Monday too. It was Nothing but hot at DD1's oh and humid too.

Well, finally feeling less pain and human again, that is as I was before visit with DD1. Still having terrible bloating and constipa$&0@. Ugh. I'm up 6 pounds and now back to tracking calories. My doctor said that the weight I gain from the anti/constipa$&@! Drug is Not real weight but water weight. No matter, to me it is messed up.

~hugs, Lori

Good beautiful Thursday team!
DrSue, enjoy camp. You'll get through today. Cocktails.....lol
Peg, I'm so sorry you're having pain. Hopefully the MRI will show the issue and it can be relieved.
Gorgeous today. Hotter than yesterday. Did my shorter (72 block) ride to the farmers market and got tomatoes and corn for my yummy salad I'm eating now. Last night was the all you can eat seafood feast and boardwalk. Ate my weight in crab legs and shrimp. Also did my hour walk. Drinks are killing me!!! lol
Per FB (where I get all my information!), Heidi and her family are buying a house, I believe. They had inspection, they are selling their furniture from their place now and are pleased it's going fast!
Back to my salad.
Have a wonderful day ladies!

Good afternoon Team!
Another beautiful day and I went for a bike ride with Xhubs. Planning a hike for tomorrow with a friend. Have to take advantage of this break in the humidity before it returns next week. Then went to solve a TV "crisis" at mom's. Now getting ready to watch the Yankee game.
Safe trip, DR SUE. Have a great time.
BERYL, I'm thinking this is perfect beach weather. DD1 and family are at Wildwood now.

Doing ok with my eating...15 lbs down since mid April. Keeping it up for another 15. Went to the dr. yesterday for some possibly back related symptoms. Getting an MRI on Monday. We'll see what it shows.

Hoping all have a great day.

Hi guys, I leave for camp tomorrow morning very early. I am looking forward to it. It was so hot earlier in the week and I had a dr appointment, so I didn't get my workouts in. Then the weather changed beautifully, and I still haven't gotten on my bike. I have not been eating great, nor am I tracking well. Yup, I need a kick in my fat a$$.

Peg, I'm sorry about your mom, but glad you are still getting to your art classes.

Nicky, I am glad you are getting some rain. In the heat here, I would wander room to room. Figuring out which bed/ sofa, piece of floor had was coolest spot. Of course where I wander 91 lbs if Dobie, and 10 lbs of kitten followed. Trying to sleep on a leather loveseat curled into the fetal position with quint insisting he is little and we can share.

Kathie, you are in my thoughts.

Rosey, I'm sorry for you DGS, I hope she sees how important it is to keep him involved with his whole family.

Lori, I'm glad you had a good trip, that your family has come together, and that you will be getting some rest soon.

Kellie, your gardens must be beautiful, and soon will be more so with your new rose bush.

Beryl, I'm glad you are having such a great time at the beach.any luck finding a place for next year?

Work has been so busy, I am trying not to mentally check out early. Surgery this am, rotary meeting, appointments and then meet up for a drink and appetizer at a local restaurant with my co travelers, and pack the truck. I'm tired already.

Have a great day. Has anyone heard from Heidi?

Enjoy the class Peg. Thanks for telling us about Kathie. Hopefully she's still reading and knows we're thinking of her.
Gorgeous here. As Peg said, sunny, low humidity, beautiful blue sky and puffy white clouds.
Did an hour and a half bike to the bay this morning--about 75 blocks each way. Didn't even sweat that much. Then a lovely walk on teh beach with DS. Just finished lunch and back to the beach for a couple of hours. Glorious.
Hope all is well with everyone!

Hi Team!
Computer problems so I've been unconnected...all's better now.
I think KATHIE is taking an SP break.
BERYL, glad you survived the invasion of the grandchildren...lol The weather is supposed to get better and be beautiful the next few days.
LORI, how nice to be able to celebrate birthdays with family. Enjoy your well deserved rest.
NICKY, waking up in that heavy moisture laden air is no fun. I am glad that your area is finally getting rain.
KELLIE, I, too, don't know what "sts" means. Hope you are well. Another rose bush? wow
DR SUE, I'm also not sure when you were heading to camp with your human and furry friends. If you're there, hoping you have a great time.
ROSEY, hoping it has calmed down with you.

Last night I dreamt I bought land in Australia...now, where would that come from...

Each day mom is getting a little worse...and that's all I have to say about that.

Wishing my team a great evening.

Hello Team,

Just checking in from DD1 and kidlets. Been here since Sunday, yet it feels like a week. I've washed enough dishes, more times than I can count. We had our grand daughter's family birthday party yesterday and FINALLY it hit me. While I Hate them living 3 hours away, and when they moved up here over 8 years ago, it is awesome to see how much family comes to celebrate my grand babies each birthday. I never had that growing up, my kids never had it either. Our family is so scattered around, it warned my heart, to see what family jeans, dysfunctional or not. We will go home in a couple of hours abd my body will get some re-couping hopefully.

I'll check in later. Happy to report two full days of rain at home.

~hugs, Lori

Rainy afternoon at the beach. DD and the 2 little ones just left. I AM EXHAUSTED!! Jo was a lot of fun but she's a handful. And DD is not medicated since she's nursing so her organizational skills are a little.....lacking, shall we say?! We did have fun though. DId just clean the place up so we could have some down time. DS is here and he's been a huge help.
Kathie, please let us know how you are. We're all worried and thinking of you.
Peg, how is your mother?
Nicky, was it wet from the rain? Inside? We had bad storms yesterday afternoon and now again this afternoon, then supposed to be dry and sunny.
Kellie, how is the job? What are your weekend plans?
DrSue, are you up at camp again? I have brain fog.
Lori, how are the visits? Take care of yourself!
Same goes to you Rosey. I agree with Nicky--take care of you too. Praying the mother realizes how much you love and need each other.
Only exercised for 35 minutes on the bike today. I was really, really tired. I've been doing both the bike and a long beach walk daily and it's exhausting. Plus we were up late/early with Jo because sleeping in a big bed did NOT go well.
Off to finish my salad for lunch and read my book. Reading Lisa Scottoline's new one--Fifteen Minutes--and cannot put it down!!
Hugs to all.

ROSEY, I've been thinking about you all day and wondering how I would react..........probably the same as you! "Stuffing" anger, hurt, and sadness has been my go-to soother.
No matter how we tell ourselves that our children's lives are not ours in which to interfere, how we wish we could make it better.

I'm hoping for you that when the dust settles, the mother will see that it's important for your DGS to have a good relationship with the paternal grandparents and father. Surely your DS didn't marry a total idiot.

Please take care of yourself. YOU first, okay? This is a YOU FIRST Zone.

I'm worried about KATHIE. I wish she would post. KATHIE, if you read this, please don't just lurk. Anybody in touch with KATHIE?

BERYL, oh, please let this be a childless vacation!
I love to hear about your lazy days at the shore.

KELLIE, won't you please explain to me what you are boo-ing about? I'm afraid I never got many of the WW abbreviations.

PEG, is Mom doing okay?

It has been hot, muggy, some rain with thunder and lightening here in Los Angeles since Saturday, I think. Last night was a back East heavy, muggy one. I woke up at 2A.M. wet everywhere. Gunther and I went into my bathroom, put a light blanket on the floor, and turned the fan on both of us so as not to disturb DH. We so desperately needed the rain, so I can't complain too much.

When you arise in the morning,

give thanks for the morning light, for your life and strength.

Give thanks for your food and the joy of living.

If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies in yourself.

It's been a busy, but good weekend. I was able to get yard work done, APS and purchased a new rose bush that I will plant. We to weight watchers yesterday, the topic was about time suckers and getting more time back. My weight was sts - I'll take it - i got my TOM - boo

Hoping to get out of work on time :)

In from the heat for a late lunch of a wonderful salad with lots of good stuff from a local farmers market we rode our bikes to this morning. After biking for an hour walked on the beach for another hour. Now I'm done.
Weather so weird. Hot and sunny but suddenly a cloud came overhead us directly and it started to rain. Just from this one dark cloud. Sunny the rest of the area. But definitely hot!
I really hope DD and the kids don't come down--it's just going to be chaos and hard to do things with naps and bedtimes and all that. If they had their own place, if they were older....perfect. But a 2 year old and an 8 week old just aren't conducive to a relaxing time....especially since their bedtime is before we eat dinner! I know I'm whining and sound awful...and I'm also equally sure they're going to come down! I do miss them.
Peg, great news for DGS! As always! That team can't lose! Hope your mom stays in. And YOU hit the pool!

HHH here with an air quality advisory today. Tried to impress upon mom that she should not go out to work in her yard today. Took her shopping and I think being out in the heat might have convinced her.
DGS's team won the tournament championship today...off to Brooklyn in 2 weeks
NICKY, gentle rain is such a blessing and particularly for you out in CA. Glad to hear it. I remember as a kid going out to splash through the puddles after a heavy storm. (Speaking of which, we had a pretty heavy t-storm last night)
Hope my team is well!

Oh ROSEY, so sorry to hear that. Of course no one wants it to come to this, but in NY grandparents can petition Family Court for visitation, but I don't know your state's laws. As rough as this will be, things do tend to settle down. I'm only guessing, but right now it's all about "the fight". Stay strong!

Just 1 moment and life changes. Friday I had a meltdown, ate all the wrong foods and too much of them. I was so angry and hurt that I did what I always did. I ate and ate.
Then this morningnmy youngest son sends a text to tell me his wife is moving out and of course taking their son with her. We were hoping she would settle down and it would work out. He was hardly seeing his son as she stayed out late every night with their son.
breaks my heart. I will be back later but hard to type when tears keep falling,

DRSUE, I hope you have riotous good fun!

BLESSED light rain here! Thunder and Lightening. It's so glorious. Darker side is that I don't feel comfortable in the pool when there's lightening.

We're not close to the fires, neither one of us. It's on the very busy, VERY HOT, 15 freeway which heads into Las Vegas. On a Friday, there would be thousands of cars headed to Vegas for the weekend. That's the road I traveled many times going to visit DD when she was stationed at Nellis AFB and after when she had a home there. She now lives in Denver and is selling her house in Las Vegas, so I'll not be going to Las Vegas very soon, except maybe if I drive to visit her in Denver.
It's not only hot on that stretch, but it's in the middle of nowhere. People were abandoning their cars, and the first responders were walking people to the nearest evacuation. It's a horrible mess. Wouldn't it be a blessing if it rained there, too?

LORI, are you getting this great rain? Enough rain has fallen that there is a running stream in the gutters. I shall go outside and dance in it. . .

When you arise in the morning,

give thanks for the morning light, for your life and strength.

Give thanks for your food and the joy of living.

If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies in yourself.

Hi ladies from OCMD!! Traffic was ghastly this morning but made it. Turnover is 2pm and we got here at 1:30 and the place was vacant. Friend of mine owns it and rents it to friends and friends of friends and we do our own cleaning to keep the cost down. Works for me. Had a salad for lunch (we go out for dinner but do all other meals in) and then hit the beach. Unbearably hot outside, actually sort of chilly at the beach! Brisk wind. Did a lovely hour walk. Found a new New Orleans/Cajun place for dinner that got great reviews of TripAdvisor, So after showers off we'll go. On the bus. Not driving in this crazy traffic.
Peg, DGS team is unbeatable! Brooklyn? No, sorry. lol. How is DDs new job?
DrSue, have a wonderful time!
HI to the rest of my friends!

Good afternoon Team!
Thought today would be cooler and rainy. Cloudy this morning and then it cleared...hot and hazy and tomorrow in the 90s!
Went to DGSs baseball tournament today and just got home. They won which means they will participate in a tournament in a couple of weeks in BROOKLYN...Why anyone would want to stay in Brooklyn is beyond me. I will not be going to that. Neither will DD1 because she has no vacation time at the new job. She's taking unpaid days for the trip to NJ this week.
Will be jumping in the pool soon and tomorrow will be more of the same.
The trip home today brought me right past my favorite farm stand...loaded up on corn, beans, carrots, summer squash, blueberries and first of the season peaches...yum. Also more of the olive oil/garlic goat cheese. Will be grilling squash and corn tonight, ladies. emoticon
DR SUE, safe trip to camp with your friends, human and furry.
BERYL, good luck with Comcast.

Wishing all a good day.

Peg

Morning! Lori, I'm sorry your plans have changed, but time away is always good. I take it you and Nicky are safe frome the fire?

Peg and Beryl, I hope you can sleep soon. I used to have that problem. We also had September in July. It us still cool, but raining today. I don't freak when my phone rings at home. I panic (although I'm improving) when a member of my family calls me at work. My friend that I have worked with for ages knows and covers for me until I find out that no one is dead/dying etc and then get my heart back in my chest.

Beryl, enjoy the shore. I know how you love it.

Rosey, good for you and you staying OP. That is 3/4 of the battle.

Kellie I have to check out that link. It looks like this can be a cooking day, with the rain.

Nicky, time to get some boundry spray to deter mr Gunther!

My DH made it home we talked for about 1/2 hour before I left for work. Then we had a quick lunch, and he was off again. He'll be home Sunday. I leave Friday for the lake with 3 friends. Oh and Quint and Fredo. If I survive the trip, it will be fine. It is going be mighty cozy in the truck.

Well, it is Sat, so I have to go get ready for work. emoticon
I think tomorrow I am taking the ferry into Boston and go to the Aquarium and lunch with friends. I haven't been to the Aquarium since the redid it. I also think the boston new market is opening, I might need have a foodie moment!

Good day to you all!

Peg, I'm also a night before kind of person. DH packs everything, but I have to lay everything out. I take too much. We go to Ocean City, Md. My friend owns a condo there so we have rented it for many years now. This will be our last year since she's selling her house up here and condo down there, retiring next year, and building a new house in Bethany. DSIL wants us to look for a place down there next year for all of us to stay in for a week. Tickled me he wants to do that with us, so while we're down there we'll check out places. When I mentioned it to my mother she thought we were BUYING a place. LOL. I don't think she knows who she was talking to. lol. Not my DB who lives in Tara and has a boat.....nope--us. With the mortgage and college loans to pay off.
You can read my continuing Comcast saga on FB if we're friends--if not, they have stood me up 3 times now. UGH. Wine totally takes the edge off things. My last contact with someone, before wine, was when I told them to do what I'm pretty sure is a physical impossibility!!! emoticon

BERYL, enjoy the beach! my favorite! Where do you go? DD1 and her family will head down to Wildwood next week. I hate packing! Luckily, when we went on family vac. XDH who was/is almost compulsively organized, took care of getting everything together...a week ahead of time...lol me? I'm a "night before" kind of person :)

Good TGIF--hot and humid again here. The break was short lived. We're also supposed to be getting into a heat wave. Glad we'll be at the beach this week! Only place to be when it's going to be that hot. Or inside.
Peg, I'm so sorry. That's so hard for you not only as a daughter but as a person with a life of their own, always dreading the phone ringing. Would she tolerate someone coming in for a few hours every day to help her?
Did the elliptical this morning then zumba. Much to my surprise, my Dance fusion instructor was our zumba leader. Man, that was a workout, for sure!!
Packing for the beach. You'd think I'm going away where there is no civilization. lol. Have no clue if DD and the kidlets are coming. DS is coming, don't know when. While we go out to eat dinner, we do not eat out for breakfast or lunch, so have to pack food for them. I hate packing, did I mention that?? Luckily DH packs our clothes. Of which I take entirely too many!
Hope everyone is well. Hi to Rosey, DrSue, Kathie (where are you? Please let us know how you are), Nicky, Heidi, Kellie, Lori, and anyone I've forgotten.
Have a great day!

Good morning Team! another beautiful day and I will mow this morning.
NICKY, I am in awe of your HIIT/Jari Love activity.
LORI, sorry your plans have changed. Enjoy the family time and your day trips.
BERYL, it is that buggy time of year! I didn't know Denis Leary had a new show. I like him, too, particularly after he "voiced" in the Ice Age movies.
ROSEY, lab results?
Hi KELLIE, KATHIE and DR SUE.

Yesterday mom called me 5 times, starting at 7:00 to ask if she had to put the trash out (not til next week). Told her I would let her know the day before trash had to go out or she had an appt. so she wouldn't have to worry about it. Then several more calls about her two small blueberry bushes which the birds are feasting on. One of the calls was that my SIL had dropped off some netting to her, which was great, but mom couldn't figure out how to fix it. I went over and she was just sitting there crying that she had "ruined it". I took the netting and some clothespins and rigged up a cover for the berries. Calm returned.
I was able to pick enough green beans, snap peas and a small yellow squash to make a stir fry last night for supper...delish.
Mowing today. Tomorrow DGS has another tournament; this one closer so I will go.

Wishing everyone a great day!

Peg

Oh, Lori, I'm sorry you won't be seeing your DF and DB. Can you reschedule? Soon? EEWWW to bugs. Found a millipede in the kitchen yesterday. It wasn't pretty.
Sleep just doesn't happen. I fall asleep, then frequently wake up and am up for a long time, then repeat..
Peg, how did today go with your mom?
Nicky, you rock with that HIIT. I can't do it at all. I have to modify it way too much to suit these hips and back. I did another intense deep water workout and was sore again today. Tomorrow will be zumba and maybe some weights beforehand.
Off to read before bed. Watched the new Denis Leary show. I love him.
Have a good night ladies.

Hello Team,

Hot here, am still enjoying my gardens. Spent all day in them today. I think I got too close to nature as I had several varieties of bugs on me, Ewwwww! Vacation plans have changed. We will not be visiting my Dad or brother, sadly, DH's friends had to cancel, so just up to see our DD1 and grand babies and I hen some day trips.

Peg, so sorry about all the travails with your Mom. I'm keeping you in my heart and prayers.

It's nasty, when we can't sleep. I wish both Beryl and A eg sweet dreams.

Kellie, I love using my crock pot, I'm gonna look up that link, thank you for sharing it. How is the pond doing?

Nicky, bad Guenther, I'm glad that your weather is so nice.

Dr. Sue, I'm hoping for lots of relaxation on your vacation. How did the regatta go?

Rosey, I hope you stop itching and soon. You are too busy to put up with that too. Also, crossing my fingers that your lab comes back clear.

Hello Kathie, sending you many hugs.

~Lori

Just finished a 78-minute HIIT Jari Love DVD called "Extremely Ripped Boot Camp." Yep. I'm "ripped" to shreds, and I really wasn't able to keep up with some of the jumping around.
Burned an incredible 633 calories!

September days in July are the BEST!!!I remember those when I lived in CT.

PEG, no I don't do the Five Finger Vibrams. These are regular tie shoes in fun colors with a Vibram sole and an almost mesh top. I use Merrell Vapor Glove www.zappos.com/merrell-vapor-glove-2
-s
ea-blue-coral

Not so good in the rain; best for summer in your neck of the woods.

I've changed my other, sturdier running shoes to a 0-drop so that the heel is on the same level as the forefoot.

I know and appreciate why you're not sleeping well. I go down that road, too, even though I know there's nothing more I can do re my step mom and 'nother mother. It's why I've been using more passion flower than I've ever used. I wake up in the middle of the night from crazy dreams about them that I don't know if they're true or not.

Made a recipe last night that was basically chicken sauteed in olive oil "breaded" with sesame seeds. A bit of butter (I use ghee) and lemon juice was poured over them, and it went over very well. It's a recipe from Dr. Perlmutter's "Grain Brain" cookbook.

When you arise in the morning,

give thanks for the morning light, for your life and strength.

Give thanks for your food and the joy of living.

If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies in yourself.

Good gorgeous "feels like September" day ladies. So gorgeous! Enjoying it thoroughly.
Did my 90 minute deep water aerobics and really feel it!
On the phone with Comcast for over an hour--spotty internet and no phone. Ready to scream/eat my frustrations. Not doing either. Yet.....
Off to get a mani. That should help. IF they keep all sharp objects away from me.....LOL

Good morning Team!
It's beautiful today. Went for a bike ride with Ex-Hubs and it felt like September! Only downside to this is that the pool is rapidly cooling off.
NICKY, I've been pretty faithful at taking my supplemental vit/minerals, but not magnesium specifically. It's the unknown with mom that's interfering with my sleep. Do your shoes have toes? I think my nephews have them. Bad Guenther!
Hoping everyone has a great day!

KELLIE, the chicken dish and website are great! Thank you for that link.

PEG, do you take supplemental magnesium when you have trouble sleeping? I keep Natural Calm for those occasions. Also, if I wake up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep, I use a tincture of passion flower. Amazing how fast it works.
I have such empathy for your situation at hand. Remember the book "Passages"? Not too much was mentioned, as I recall it and the sequel, about the Sandwich Generation. I get tense when my phone rings these days.

PEG, my minimalist shoes have Vibram soles, which are surprisingly sturdy yet flexible. I feel the rocks and branches and stuff when I step on them, but my foot conforms to the various shapes, and that must be natural movement. Not for everybody, I'm sure, but changing my footwear and going barefoot more often has helped me tremendously.

BERYL, how far away do you live from the beach? I'm four miles away, but the fog belt ends about 1 miles away from my house.

Beautiful mild weather here, high 70s, fog in the morning. Still haven't gotten into the pool!!!

ROSEY, you're doing great! Don't worry about the "E" word. It's no big deal. Get out and walk whenever you can. Go for a walk with the grandkids, park farther away from the store----you know the drill. I read something like 85% is the food we eat; only 15% is the E-word in fat loss. "You can't outrun the fork."

Gunther will be 3 in October. He CHEWED on the end of the rocking chair as if he were a puppy! I spend $$$$$$ on chew toys and Nylabones!!! WHY??!!! WHY???!!!

When you arise in the morning,

give thanks for the morning light, for your life and strength.

Give thanks for your food and the joy of living.

BERYL, it's cooler and windier here, but no storms. (Came home from pastels to find my table and umbrella knocked over on the deck...didn't go into the pool...yay!) I'm sleeping like s*** and just totally feeling "off". oh well....
ROSEY, enjoy the next shift of grandkidlets :)
KELLIE, thanks for the link. I used my crockpot a lot last year. Don't know why I stopped.
A big hello to all!

Good morning team. Boy did we have some storms pass through last night. I never heard thunder like that before! Sat straight up in bed a few times--scared the pants off me! Lots of rain and everything. Today is cloudy with peeks of sun, hot and humid. My mother said the beach is beautiful...go figure. Hopefully when we're there next week it will be too!
Thanks for the recipe Kellie. I LOVE chicken cacciatore! Can't spell it, but enjoy eating it. lol
DrSue, I agree with how long it takes to relax. I am still not sleeping well and it's been 6 weeks. Not a good sleeper anyway, but would love to sleep in longer in the mornings.
Rosey, hopefully the teen will be a help with the other kidlets? I'm sure she is. And just DO IT as Nike says. You're so active now--adding a walk in, or whatever you're going to do, will hardly be a blip, I'm sure.
Did my fun zumba this morning, have a meeting at my university job this afternoon, then will do dance fusion tonight. Have lamb patties, Israeli salad, and a marinated barley vegetable salad for dinner. Plus my frozen yogurt. YAY
Have a good day ladies!!

GM. Sounds like everyone is doing great. I have Becca, my 14 yr old granddaughter with me since Sunday. Tomorrow we will get DJ, 8, and maybe Mathieu, 3. Had appt with dermatologist Monday, had spot removed, waiting for lab results to see if it is skin cancer. Dr gave a prescription for my eczema on foot. Something i would never think I had. Also put me on strong antihistamine for itching I have all over body. He also said stress will make it worse LOL.
My eating is going real well, I am so happy about that. Now IT IS TIME FOR MY FUN MOVING TO START. Dont want to say the "E" word, since I will avoid it like the plague. So I will begin Monday, until then I am giving myself a pep talk daily so I will be ready.
I signed up for the Skinny Mom recipes, sounds great. I enjoy meeting each of you daily
Hugs Rosey

I will try and try again until I get it right!!!

Ha ha !! Slow cooker summer :) So i make just about anything - it's really a way for me to have dinner on hand - i made a chicken cacciatore the other day. If i use it a couple times a week, it saves me time packing and tracking.

The scale is showing a loss finally - the hard work is paying off - i have been resting too and not killing myself with the APs, so i think getting a handle of packing, counting and portion control - maybe perfecting the small steps. today i hope to get 10K & something additional for 30 minutes.

Have a great day

Oh Peg, I'm sorry about you difficulties. I hope you can check out and relax in your pool, garden, and with your art. My vacation in October is set for a full two weeks. It takes me that long to unwind and even consider leaving my lake to do things like go to Cooperstown. I have never been to Howes cavern either (although I don't like small spaces or crowds so it is not on my bucket list) so we will figure it out. I have not yet read the review of th set a watchman. I was wondering why it was missing so long, and had a "duh" moment figuring it was controversial. After all to kill a mockingbird was banned in many places for a long time. I can't make Atticus a racist in my mind, so we shall see.

Beryl, I would be very irritated with having to avoid "noodlers" in the pool. I also had a BOD meeting last night.

Lori, enjoy the vacation. It sounds like quite the whirlwind. Rest up! I am about 1-2 hours from Cape cod. Well with traffic 5 hours. Yes, it's that bad. Needless to say I have only been there once by car. I have sailed there many times.

Kellie, I'm with Beryl, what are you cooking in your crockpot in summer?

Nicky, get that you are getting Gunther into you walking routine. Arctic char is like a mild Salmon. The secret to bluefish (Beryl) is to soak it in milk, and then use a lot of citrus and grill it. It is also very good smoked.

It is hot and humid here today. I made really yummy zucchini pancakes this morning. I have so much produce from the farm co-OP. I'm getting very creative. I made beet chips last weekend. Yesterday, more beets but they are the candy striper variety, so I have to come up with something cool. They would make beautiful chips. I have been using my extra greens in ricotta pies. Any other ideas for uses for beet greens, carrot top, radish greens?

Ok, I'm still in PJ's, so need to leave you. Have a great day.

oh, Peg, you just reminded me of what I wanted to tell Beryl. When I did the YMCA, a couple of years ago, I did a water aerobics class, too. I thought the pool was way too crowded and yes, the older people got in the way. I then went into the pool when it was free time and that was much better.

Sorry about the meeting tonight. Peg and Beryl, I'm gonna hope and pray that I can keep them all busy, I'm not sure but I think DD will stay the whole time.

~hugs, Lori

Good evening Team!
What a trying day, mom-wise. I am so afraid that we will have to go through a court proceeding for guardianship. I sat through many of them when I worked and they were heartbreaking. I know this will just crush her. We'll see.
On to better things...
LORI, sounds like a wonderful, whirlwind, busy time ahead for you. Enjoy, my dear friend! DR SUE is the closest to Cape Cod.
BERYL, hope the meeting wasn't too painful. Too bad about those who "clog up" the lanes in the pool.
Hello to my team and wishing you a good evening.

Good afternoon ladies. Hot and humid still--did turn sunny again.
Had a Greek salad for lunch--dressing on the side--came home and had some soup cause I was still hungry. Dinner is late tonight--I have a synagogue board meeting. UGH! NO ONE hates meetings more than I do.
Lori, you have such a fun, busy time coming up! How are you going to handle having all those folks at your house?? Will DD stay too or is she leaving the kidlets with you? I know how much you love seeing your dad. How much fun for you!
Off to shower off the chlorine. Have a good evening team!

Hello Team,

Oh Beryl, "I love Savta", how amazing. It's interesting how you said that's all I need, cuz, I sure feel the same way. My grand babies keep me alive and give me so much strength to go on.

Yesterday, I was with DS's, DS. I picked him up from VBS and he was so hot, he said it was blazing hot outside and it was. Our beautiful reprieve from this heat ended last week. We played all day with setting up train tracks and different levels. He is so talented. I did have a nice day but my back is still pretty bad.

Peg, We saw Jurassic World too. Just when it came out, You are so right, Chris Pratt is easy on the eyes. I only saw him in Guardians of the Galaxy, and never knew he was good looking. I'm glad that you got into the pool, even if for a short while. I'm sure your tree art was just gorgeous.

Dr. Sue, I'm listening to a book via audio, it's called The Finest Hours, I was thinking about your DH and his sailing. I was also, imagining you, Kathie and Peg, with all the terrible snow storms, while listening to this book. Are any of the three of you near Cape Cod?

Kellie, your fur babies are sure keeping you busy. I hope the check up went well. My roses are blooming and gorgeous, some other plants not so much.

Nicky, great walk with Guenther, soon, you'll be in the pool.

Kathie, how is our dear friend?

Rosey, you're probably really busy with the grand kids.

Well, next week we will be on Vacation, we will drive up North, first to see DD1 and babies. Our Emmy is turning 8, we'll give her, her Bday present, spend the night then off to my brother's. We will meet up with DH's HS friends and go Wine Tasting. Then off to my Dad's. When we get home, DD1 is coming down with the babies on that Sunday the 26th til Tuesday. My youngest grandson, Will, has only been to my house once before that I can remember. It will be a jam-packed few days. I've got to keep them B U S Y!

~hugs, Lori

Good morning team! Humid and cloudy today.
Just back from 90 minute water aerobics class. Annoyed at the herd of old ladies who just go to chat and take up room in the pool and block me as I'm racing around the perimeter huffing and puffing. lol. Somehow I don't think just sitting on a noodle in the pool counts as exercise.....but I got mine, for sure.
Kellie, I never think of the crockpot in the summer. What are you making?
I'm not a huge bluefish fan. My DF used to fish for them and they're very strong tasting, to me. Maybe it was the way they were cooked? I rarely see it on the menu around here at all. We see white fishes all the time.
Off to shower and meet a friend for lunch. Have a great day team!!

Good evening Team!
Dr SUE, Cooperstown in October sounds wonderful! I love bluefish (fresh, not so much if it's been frozen) My father used to go out for "blues" of NJ coast and always brought home interesting things...starfish, a small mako shark he caught...this was back in the early 60s.
I used to subscribe to Cooking Light, loved the recipes. They had a delicious lemon blueberry poundcake that I used to make pre gf. Will have to look for the salad book. As for the "new" Harper Lee book, it's on my request list for the library. BUT...there's a lot of controversy about it, now. Apparently Atticus is a racist, segregationist and member of the KKK. I don't know if I can reconcile that to the Gregory Peck in my mind.
NICKY, yes, I admit it, I watch Humans and have it on my DVR record schedule...very interesting. The minimalist shoes are ok on pavement, stones, whatever?
BERYL, glad the b'day party went well. Funny that your mom made those "photo correction" suggestions on fb. I laughed when I saw her comment as I had already read your post here.
Made the zucchini "pie" (I posted about earlier) for supper. mmmm mmmm
Hope everyone has a good evening.

Peg

Anybody see a program on AMC called "Humans"? It is very strange, but I have been compelled to watch both episodes. It's a world where there are "synths," synthetic humans, robots, which you can purchase, and they do the housework and nursing, babysitting, whatever, and they look very human.

DRSUE, there is a special on PBS regarding Harper Lee, but I haven't seen it yet.

I would LOVE to taste Arctic char sometime. Invite me over. Never had bluefish, either.

PEG, what a glorious day you had in your yard. I turned on the heater in our pool, but I've yet to go in. I was going in today, but work caught up with me, and now I don't feel like it.
Got 7.5 miles in with Gunther early this morning, though.
I want to be that person who can go outside and just read. It's so important to tune out every once in a while.

BERYL, what fun Jo will have tearing off all the wrapping paper!
Do you ice after exercise? Do you find it helps? I bought some of those professional black ice packs, but I don't have the patience to ice, wait, and ice again.

I've transitioned over a year to minimalist shoes, Merrell Vapor Gloves. I must say, they seem to be just what I needed to fix any little residual knee issues I'd been having.
I've always been a flipflops girl ever since I can remember. Bernardos, Havianas, Reef, Lily Pulitzer, you name it.
Very happy to get rid of the clunky running shoes.

DH has a board meeting at the auto museum today, so I won't have to prepare dinner.
Yippeee!!

When you arise in the morning,

give thanks for the morning light, for your life and strength.

Give thanks for your food and the joy of living.

Beryl thanks for giving me the Heidi update. Your time with Jo sounds great. How did she like the kitchen set?

Peg, what a lovely day you had, and to come out with a good loss is awesome. You should definitely get back up to Cooperstown. It is so great. Perhaps when I'm up for vacation in October we could meet there.

I had a Gamelli salad with green beans and pistachios with some grilled bluefish for lunch. Planning Arctic char, kale and polenta for dinner. Unless I change my mind. We have a lovely sea breeze today. Not so sunny, but the heat and humidity have abated. I kept moving all over the house last night to get which was the coolest spot at that time. The animals were following me around. DH just finished the Macinac race. So he is somewhere up near Kathie. I haven't spoken to him yet, so it is always fun to hear the sailing lies.

If I haven't mentioned it before, cooking light's "Big book of Salads" is awesome. That is where the Gamelli recipe came from. So many great ideas.

I am so excited that a lost Harper Lee book-a sequel to "to kill a mockingbird" is being released. I preordered it as soon as I heard.

I am finishing up at work. A long day, but busy enough.

Big hello to Kathie, Kellie, Nicky, Heidi and our rockstar grand moms Lori and Rosey! (Beryl and Peg you are in that group too)

Good morning ladies!
Peg, your Sunday sounded delightful! And that ricotta pie amazing. We had the most unbelievable lemon baked buffalo ricotta cheese at Whole Foods. Oh my. Tastes like cheesecake.
Party went fine. Lots of kids and younger folks there. Got a pic with my kids and grandkids which is what I wanted--and of course my mother had to comment that it would have been better if we had been in it and/or my SIL had been in it. NOT my intention. We took Jo afterwards for a while so they could clean up and that was fun. SHe has gifts everywhere. They didn't open them yesterday because it would have been way too much.
Going to muscle pump and zumba today. Will wear my knee brace because it feels so much better with it on.
Supposed to meet the girls from the Wellness Center today for happy hour, but haven't heard from them. I'm assuming it's on, so Jo and Whole Foods will be tomorrow instead.
Made Israeli salad from my gorgeous tomatoes I'd bought--can't wait to eat it! And a roasted vegetable/barley salad too. Made them yesterday for the party, along with another one, but DDs took them, so I made more. DB gave us cucumbers so I'll do cucumbers and onions, another favorite of mine.
Heidi was very busy, for whoever asked (DrSue?)--she and her husband ran a kids Bible camp last week so she was totally off the grid. Don't know about the house--she seemed discouraged after the inspection, so we'll see.
Have a good day team!

Good morning Team!
Sunny and hot here today.
DR SUE, balance is good. and your menu sounds wonderful. I have fresh green beans to fix, too. And your ricotta pie reminded me of a pizza recipe, but I've done it without the crust like a crustless pie. On the crust spread a layer of ricotta, thinly sliced garlic, thinly sliced summer squash (yellow, zucchini or both) and top with freshly shredded parm or your cheese of choice. I'm thinking the olive oil/garlic goat cheese would be good or maybe some fresh basil leaves... When I made it as a pie, I beat up an egg into the ricotta to give it some substance. Easy, simple flavors and delish!
BERYL, how did the party go?

Yesterday floated in the pool a while and then laid out on the deck. Decided to get some art practice in so I grabbed a sketch book and a small set of watercolors and sat on the deck, under the umbrella and played. Nothing great (actually, nothing good) except for a sketch of one of my trees that I did in water soluble graphite and carbon which came out ok. Then I went to see Jurrasic World. What can I say...predictable as expected, but fun and who would have expected (SPOILER ALERT...lol) a raptor and a T-rex to be the heroes! That Chris Pratt was pretty fine to look at, too, I might add.
After a month of going off the rails, I reined myself back in for the past week. Whatever I gained (don't know the number as stayed away from the scale) is gone as well as another .8 I am ecstatic! And should do better with all the fresh produce around.
Off to take mom grocery shopping.

A big HI to everyone and wishing you a good day.

Peg

Rosey, down is better than up!

Beryl, exercise and injury will jack up the weight on the scale. It too shall pass. Hope the birthday bash was great.

Nicky and Peg, I have been to the hall of fame twice. One time was the year they retired Jackie Robinson's number on every team in MLB, with an exhibit on the negro league. I'm not sure if it was the same visit or not, but I was there after "a league of their own" and there was an exhibit for the ladies. The clips where they show pictures in the paper?(remember when one girl slid into base, and they showed the bruise the size of her thigh being iced down) in the movies the photos were all remade, in the exhibit, they were all real. It was WAY cool.

I've had a mellow kind of day. I spent it all at home. I only made 5 dishes. I am determined to not waste things from the farm market or co-op. So I threw together a ricotta pie with greens. A gooseberry sherbert, a pasta salad with green beans, I made a raspberry chicken salad with grilled peaches, and am about to grill bluefish for dinner. I did an hour spin too. It sound crazy, but the majority of the day was spent in the yard reading. I think I'm trying to balance life here with my life at camp. I have begun to find myself spinning like a top, and saying "enough!" And back off. At camp I usually work and workout by noon. Then I boat, swim, read etc. I don't quite have the balance here.

Kathie my DH is in the Macinac race ( I had only ever heard it as Macinaw) I'm following it on the computer. He is probably more then 100 NM from you. I'm not sure if you see the boats from your place. It is a HUGE regatta.

Off to grill the bluefish a friends kid caught at fishing camp. Have a peaceful night everyone. I know missed some of you, and I apologize!

Has anyone heard from Heidi?

Happy Sunday ladies!
Rosey--I agree. Take the loss. I was UP 3 pounds. Trust me--down is better! lol Sorry about the change. I don't think any of us do change well. I know I don't. Even good change is hard.
Kellie, enjoy the day! What kind of game did you have?
Peg, I have pool envy. Enjoy!
Hi DrSue, Lori, Nicky, and Kathie!
Going to pick DS up soon. Having my soup after biking for an hour at a local state park. I didn't burn a ton of calories but my quads and butt sure feel it. Then off to DDs house for the chaos that will be 25 folks for Jo's birthday party.....already not looking forward to it. Made 3 vegan salads to take. We don't eat at 3:00 or at 5. Unless it's a late lunch or happy hour, but DSILs family thinks that's fine. So it is. We'll eat later.
Have a good day team!

Hi ladies - Rosey Take the loss - there are some weeks that's a gain for no reason, but what I think is important is the big picture to not give up

I had a game night last night so eating was portion control and some grazing - no no - I counted it - I got up and the scale showed a gain So I did a walk around the neighbohood twice around and ww scale showed .8 loss - lol - heading to goal slowly 8 to go - this week's meeting was about portion control and took a quiz in the weekly - I'm going to try and portion a snack in a Baggie when I make a snack to have things on hand this week - had a nap and headed out have a great day

I'm Kellie :)

My weigh in this morning was not exciting. Only lost 1 tenth of a pound but then I realized that at least it was a loss not a gain. Feeling kind of down on myself but not just about weight loss.Hubby leaves today for a week of job orientation and that is another change in my life. We go from being constantly together to b eing constantly apart. You would thinkI would be used to it by now. It is hard to get into a good routine when my life seems to change daily and even as a child any change in my routine devastated me. Now I am an old lady but problem is the same. LOL

PEG, good news re DGS. Did you get a chance to visit any of the exhibits at Cooperstown? Remember the movie "A League of Their Own"? I cried at the end when they visited Cooperstown.

I hadn't exercised to a Jari Love HIIT DVD "Get Ripped 1000" since March but did this afternoon. Whoa!!! Not a pretty picture jumping up and down like a mad woman. It's a track of cardio followed by a track of fast weights for 60 minutes, not including warm up and cool down. I was already sweating after the warm up!! How quickly we women-of-a-certain-age lose it, lose the mojo.

Started to call myself a chubby porker in the middle of the session but halted that talk like right now.

BERYL, yes, most likely you're a bit inflamed. Happy Birthday to Jo! They're so precious at that age.

Confession: Had a Japanese rice bowl full of raw almonds with real maple syrup. Why? I don't know. Feeling tremendously guilty about it. How is that helping me on my WL journey?

When you arise in the morning,

give thanks for the morning light, for your life and strength.

Good evening Team!
Just checking after my day at Cooperstown. We missed a turn on the way up and ended up way north of where we should have been. But, in spite of that, we made it on time! DGS hit a triple and played well and they won 13 - 3. Tomorrow they may have 1, 2 or 3 games, depending on how they do. No, I won't be going. Will hang out in my pool instead. emoticon emoticon (well, not really swimming per se, more like lounging and floating...yay! Saw a bear cub crossing the road on the way home...so cute and trying to move so fast. Didn't see momma, but figure she was at the edge of the woods ready to scold him for not staying close and keeping up.

I love the local farm markets and buy way too much, but then I tell myself...it's veggies; what can be bad about that...lol

Hoping all have a great weekend; BERYL enjoy the b'day party for that little sweetie.

Good Saturday team. Finishing lunch and then my NAP!! YAY!!
HHH here too.
Dreadfully sore this morning. Did an hour walk, slowly, and felt a bit better. But at WI--Oh please. Up 2.8. WTH???? I know it's muscle soreness, and all that, but still.....UGH.
I went to a local farmstand that has been written up all over, and everyone loves it, especially their tomatoes. Took about 20 minutes to get there. Totally meh. I have a little local family owned one near me, expensive, local produce--just as good. No need to drive so far.
Tomorrow is Jo's family party. They called it from 3-5. His family is good with that--they eat really early. Not us....it's either late lunch or snack. Making some salads to take--an Israeli salad, a corn and soybean salad, and probably another one. I'll snack. Then probably go to Whole Foods with DS and DH and get wine and cheese and shrimp. Looking forward to that.
Lori, rest up and feel better. They can sure take it out of you!

Peg, I am a farm market addict. This year I joined a farm direct co-op with a friend. We are splitting the share. We get a small veggie, fuit and cheese share. I skipped bread (obvious reasons) and eggs- even I don't each a dozen a week, and the farm I buy from out at camp are the best eggs on earth! What is fun is that so you get things you have never seen before. So I will be making a gooseberry sorbet this weekend.

Nicky, I would be an earth girl if I had more time. But yes, I spend A LOT of time barefoot.

Kellie, I'm glad your lunch went well. You are so busy! I am so happy you love you job. It was a long time coming.

Lori, glad to see you up and about again.

Beryl, that is awesome about Jo-all of it. Her health, her beautiful words, and her very happy birthday! I did spend an hour with my toes in the sand. It is supposed to get very HHH this weekend. Perfect beach weather. I might have to go again.

Rosey, you are certainly busy.,

Have a great day everyone.

Hello dear ones,

Beryl, I'm so sorry about the fall, very grateful that you weren't hurt too badly. Happy Birthday to Jo.

Rosey, you are doing so much, I'd count it all as activity points.

Kathie, how is your art coming? I'm so sorry that you are experiencing such deep loneliness.

Peg. I knew it was watercolor buy my mind wrote pastels.

Kellie, doing good.

Dr. Sue, glad that you got an extra day at camp.

Nicky, just reading your post of Guenther and that snake scared me. I'm so glad that he was spared.

I've been having in. I had DGS on Monday and I was in bed for about 2 days recuperating.

Our weather has been fantastic, just loving it.

Wishing you all happiness, Lori

I'm here because I want to be healthy.

KELLIE!!! I'M A DDP YOGA YOGINI!! Diamond Dallas Page is a laugh riot. It used to be called Yoga For Real Men. I have the complete series of DVDs; checked it out for DH, but haven't given it to him yet. It has transformed many lives.
Just finished an 80" session with Power Yoga Online, to which I subscribe on a yearly basis. I've been practicing for 20 years; started in earnest when teen son was causing me stress and grief.

PEG, IT'S "EARTHING--THE MOST IMPORTANT HEALTH DISCOVERY EVER?"
By Clinton Ober, Stephen T. Sinatra, M.D., and Martin Zuker. It's all about electrical energy of the earth, humans, and animals and why grounding ourselves is so important. We are, after all, also electrical beings.
I know you love to play in the dirt; you're closer to the earth probably than most of us here. I get the feeling DRSUE is also an earth girl.

ROSEY, is it too hot to walk to a store or park with the grandkids? Great way to get a little walking in.

HAPPY DANCE!!! HAPPY DANCE!!! DH doesn't want to attend the charity dinner tomorrow night!!! I am soooooo happy. The thought of sitting at a table with people I hardly know and shouting over the music is not my idea of a good time. I give to charity-----I don't enjoy flaunting my giving. I'm not a jewelry hound and wear athletic clothes disguised as street clothes. Even my "cocktail attire" is from Athleta or must feel like a nightgown.

Happy weekend to all!!

When you arise in the morning,

give thanks for the morning light, for your life and strength.

Give thanks for your food and the joy of living.

If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies in yourself.

Peg, your finds and cooking sound remarkable! WOW!!
Not to mention the day scallops.....love seafood, and scallops in particular.
Kellie, that soup sounds lovely. I'm sure it was totally worth it!
Didn't do well at my second zumba. My knee was painful and I am just tired. So here I am, vegging out watching TV, eating oatmeal (it's a treat!!) and almost time to finish my frozen yogurt.
Josephine said "I love you Savta" today. In here baby talk, but it was clear to DD and to me. I'm done. Just done. I need nothing more in life! lol
Going to go for a lovely walk tomorrow. Looking forward to that.
Big hugs to everyone.

NICKY, I have not read that book, but will look for it. I always feel better playing in the dirt a/k/a gardening. One more reason why winter is so hard for me.

Salad and grilled zukes were great! Love this time of year!

Peg, that’s scary – I am glad she was ok! The hall of fame is great – I love the little town too – a nice escape
Beryl, she was really touched and I am glad that we took her out – I guess everyone is different and companies are odd sometimes with things. Mom has a full day apparently – lol  Game night this weekend with friends.
Nicky, your body sounds similar to mine – the harder I work, it seems the harder time I have dropping the weight – maybe you are not eating enough? You always have this figured out.
Kathie, Hang in there! You have accomplished so much with packing and taking care of yourself.
Dr. Sue, I am so sorry – you are amazing – I wish I could come deliver some flowers personally
Rosey – Life is exercise in my view – lol – chores, chasing kids 
Wow, this is a crazy busy board today – I love it. I’ve been working on wall graphics and some design ideas for a warehouse here and lost track of time. I do love my job.
Packed and tracked, but for lunch, I had to have the tomato basil soup. So good! I am a little pressed for time and have a great night! Kellie

KATHIE, it's a rough time. You are doing great. Keep posting. Your Team is hugging you tightly. This is where you come to dump.
All you can do is one day at a time, and do your best to count at least five blessings every day. You have given us so much support in the past. You are stronger than you realize (we all are, actually).
You seem like Super Woman to me, any way.

PEG, ever read the book entitled "Earthing"? Basically, we've lost our connection to earth. Best thing we can do for ourselves, our health, our well being, is to get outside barefoot and "ground" ourselves. Who doesn't feel marvelous after walking barefoot in the sand?
Your fresh fare sounds delightful.

BERYL, I'm still reading that book "Intuitive Eating," and there's a whole section devoted to children and developing eating patterns. The idea is to let them feed whenever they need, BUT, not to have junk around. I did that with my children, but I always added gummy bears or some treat in their lunches. Mistake for DS, not so much for DD. DH's family is obese and diabetic; DS is a sugar addict who has managed to control the problem by eating low carb.

DRSUE, I totally empathize with your sadness. The only way I can justify the loss of my animals is to think that their work is done on this earth. Knowing you, you did more than your best. Your heart is gold and platinum. Wish your practice was around the corner. We could hike together, too!!

ROSEY, when does DH go off on the road again? Do you take care of the grandkids when he's gone, too. How about when you're staying in the RV? They must love that. RVs are so much fun. We rented one only once, and I would definitely like to do that again.

My regular WI is Friday, but I thought I was doing so well that I thought another one wouldn't hurt. Well, I did WI today, and I'm back down the 2#, so, no loss this week but 2# last week.
I haven't even craved any nuts lately, which is a good sign.
Read the Diet Doctor's blog (he's in Sweden, a proponent of low-carb/high fat and an absolute Adonis, a Thor, if there ever was one. Listened to several of his lectures at Ancestral Health Symposium), which reminded me that women and fruit don't do very well when on the weight loss journey----too much sugar, which raises insulin-----fat loss cannot happen in the presence of insulin.

I have been way over indulging in summer stone fruits, peaches, nectarines, apricots. My metabolism at this age at my activity level rebels. Sigh. Cut it down to one piece per day.

When you arise in the morning,

give thanks for the morning light, for your life and strength.

Give thanks for your food and the joy of living.

If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies in yourself.
