Hi ladies, It was a good day Tom went to DC to see a nationals game with his uncle and I worked around the house, gardened and a doctors appointment. Of course I have my period so their scale was not pretty! Glad to catch up on preventative appointments for sure.

Peg, I hear you with the plants. For my perennials, I am going to get from a good garden center. I have flower boxes I built that house my cheap annuals and have Shepards hooks for the flower baskets. I have seen impatients at the depot and Wal-Mart they dont look good. I thought that was a couple more years before they could start selling again. Yes, walking in the morning will be tough when I go back to work. Its been a challenge to get my steps in now that I moved my desk to the local office where the city walking helped me a lot. The lupine is awesome what an accomplishment.

Kathie, thats good news about both buyers and three times for a look! Wow! My fingers are crossed and I love hummus myself. I have to watch though because it is a trigger food for me. I hear you with the yards ale and keeping busy will be a good thing. Best of luck and I hope you hit your goals.

Beryl, enjoy the mini break love DC!

I went to Wal-mart got a flat of flowers to put in my flower boxes $12 for a flat is pretty amazing these days here and managed to install my fountain pump in my pond. I have been trying to make a fountain, so it was just nice that its already done! I have a small lower pond and I will get one for that. I ordered my pond plants and clams to filter the water. I love water gardening. I got a lotus to bloom two years ago - i need to try that again!

Its great to have time to do all this and rest. 12K right now and I will go do some weight training downstairs.

Have a great night! Kellie

Happy early evening Team! A beautiful but cool day here.
KATHIE, glad the reset helped. I like scooping hummus with carrot sticks. I've been pretty good with no sweets and "chippy" things, too, although I miss the crunch. I still find myself thinking "what can I nibble on?", but now I realize that it's just boredom talking and I really am fine without anything. Make myself drink some water to see if the urge goes away. Hope the lookers morph into buyers.

Brought Melinda home from the vet today. I had taken her back for urine culturing and apparent constipation. Left her overnight 'cause as the doc said...once I give her an enema, you won't want her running around your house...lol. She's acting perkier and eating. She got a longlasting antibiotic shot pending the final results of the culture. I should hear on Tues. if there's anything else to be done. Also have some Laxanip to give her. Hoping we're all through with this now.

Tomorrow the pool will be opened. I think some warmer weather is on the way, so maybe I can actually use it before August.

Should be a pretty quiet weekend. What's planned for my teamies?

Very quiet here. I guess everyone is busy. Hope its a good, happy busy.

Chilly day in N. Michigan but sunny and its so green out. So I put on my coat & took Annie for a walk. I'm working tomorrow (finally) so I gave the house a thorough cleaning and washed floors just in case someone wants to look at it over the holiday. My realtor just called. The people who have been here 3 times want to come over sometime this weekend and just walk around the property. I told him fine and if I'm home and they want to come in that its OK. I still think they are just perpetual lookers but who knows. The other couple is still interested and he's meeting with them early next week

In the meantime I am working on the garage sale. I am getting some extra tables from work and more signs from a friend. Her sale is the week before mine and I'm going to help her. I need to be busy that day as it is my 40th wedding anniversary. Then she will help me set mine up and help with the pricing. My brother will be here that weekend to help and a few friends will come help the day of.

I am learning to like hummus on celery rather than on crackers or bagel chips. Actually liking it. The "reset" has helped me with the cravings, at least for now.

Peg, that peeing where they shouldn't is another reason I won't get animals again. Made me nuts... hope they find what's wrong and can fix it easily.
DH has off Saturday so we're heading to Washington for the weekend. Not a big vacation--a mini one! And I'm fine with that!

Good morning Team!
Gray, cool, cloudy here, too. Covered some of the plants last night as there was a possibility of frost, but I think we were spared.
KELLIE, sounds like your staycation is a big success! Walking first thing is a great habit, but not so easy when the "going to work" routine gets figured in, I know. Glad you've found good plant bargains. I stopped buying plants there after the late blight problem a couple of years ago and then that was followed by the impatiens problem. So, although more expensive (and still no guarantee) I tend to buy local or start from seed.
BERYL, what are you doing this weekend? or are you on vacation? Did I miss something?
No DGS baseball games this weekend. There are games, but DD1 and family are going camping so he won't be playing. His travel team is undefeated and the coach offered to drive DGS to the campground after the game if DD1 would let him stay to play. Not happening;he's going with his family. The only plans I have are for the pool to be opened, although the weather today doesn't make me yearn for pool time. XDH talked about having a bbq, then cancelled, and now is talking about it again...such waffling makes me crazy. If he has it, DD2 and I will probably go.
Melinda is still not all that well...peeing where she shouldn't. Will call the vet today and see if they will culture for a UTI. No trace of one on last Saturday, but something is not right. Never ends...
Hope everyone is well. I'll get my newly purchased plants settled. Last year I planted lupine seeds which grew, but no flowers. Perhaps they are biennials because this year they came back and there's a flower. Wagging my tail about that.
Wishing a good day for all.

Peg

Good Thursday morning team. Gray and cloudy and cool here.
Busy day today-work, then teaching, then I need to pack. Tomorrow I need to, after school, hit the market, see the kids, get all our stuff, and find some time to exercise. I can't not. So we'll see.
Kellie, enjoy your staycation. I love Iron Hill! They have the best nachos anywhere!!
DrSue, enjoy the time away.
Peg, what are your weekend plans? Does DGS have more games?
Lori, enjoy the garden.
Kathie--body parts still crossed. Not a good look. Hope you hear something good soon.
Off to start work. Have a good day ladies!

Dr. Sue, I am glad that you are having some down time. Enjoy the time with your family. Yes, that sounds similar to my dad sometimes too with the packing! The time with Q sounds so nice.

Beryl, the baby is so darn cute I can never get enough pictures.

Peg, the plant addiction is a great one - I have discovered walmart has plants cheap - a good place for annuals

Lori, thats happened to me with the soil too so frustrating. The cheap bags form the depot have smelled like oil for me in the past.

Kathie, I have to hand it to you, you always stick to your plans - make that list or what ever task and get it done! I wish I had some of that for sure. Its hard giving up things in our diets. It is very cold in Philly today too!

Lori, the fish I have in my ponds is actually the gold fish that you buy that are 29 cents! Most dont survive a year or so, but I have two that are about 5 years old and others from 2 to 4 years. The one that has the growth is like 2. We went to a garden today with Koi there they are like easily 15 pounds the older ones. Those are the ones that are hundreds maybe even thousands of dollars a good candidate for the surgery lol.

-----------
Yes, the fish saga continues theres certainly real issues and stress in life right now, but the water gardening is a great hobby - it's just entertaining lol !! Im most likely going to let nature take its course maybe he will breed and the circle of life will continue! I have ordered plants and clams to filter the water. Once the plants take root, they will be beautiful

Weeding today, a visit to a local garden and the local zoo its a very small zoo near our home. I really loved seeing the parrots up close and they had a massive chicken coop I will email my BFF tomorrow at work and ask him how the hen house is ;) We met friends for a birthday dinner for a good friend Iron Hill Brewery. Did my best their menu is hard did pizza and a salad.

Ive been walking right when I get up this week around the neighborhood a good routine I would love to keep. Have a great evening all!

Hello Team,

Kathie, you've got me so curious now, I'll have to google Morel. I've never had a garage sale but I've been to plenty. I wish that I could help you, but I've forgotten how they are priced. I agree with you, I don't like beets. But I don't like fish either. Kellie only pays, the $250. For the VET, cuz one of her Coi has a big boo boo.

Peg, how is Melinda? I'm sorry that she isn't well. How was your massage?

Beryl, I hope you enjoyed your Ziti? Yum.

It's beautiful outside, hugs

Good evening ladies. Hope everyone is well. Long day, but a good one. Eating my baked ziti dinner. It's delicious!
I had a yard sale once, and agree with Peg--I just wanted to get it out of the house/garage/yard and get rid of it. I priced it to sell. I sure didn't want it back!
I wish I gardened. I don't. I like the results, not the work. I'm lazy basically. I think that's why I don't have animals any more. I loved having them, but now that we don't I'm OK with being able to pick up and go without thinking about it, or whatever.
Just spoke to my mother. My uncle, her BIL, is in a rehab in Florida, where he and my aunt live. I've been in contact with my cousins to get information. She has not had much contact with them and her nose is clipped I know things she doens't........just shoot me....
Off to get more ziti. That'll work! emoticon

Good evening Team! The massage was wonderful and I fed my plant addiction and bought too many. Then stopped by DD2's and helped her spread some mulch.
LORI, cayenne pepper works well with keeping the squirrels out of the seed. Like pepper spray, it seems to only affect mammals, so the birds are fine.
DR SUE, that was a good question your father asked. I feel like that when a store employee asks if they can help me load the car (like with bags of mulch). I always think only if you're coming home with me. Otherwise, I need to know I can do it. Sorry, he's not doing so well.
KATHIE, good luck on the pricing. The (very) few times I did a yard sale, I priced really low because I just wanted that stuff gone. I told myself that nothing was coming back into the house.
Starting to get quite gray; guess the evening showers are on their way.
Wishing a great evening to all.

Peg

Wow, everyone is so busy. And thanks for all the virtual hugs. It would be so nice if we could actually all get together. But at least we can meet here.

Kellie, that's funny about your fish pond. I had no idea koi could cost that much.I'd be happier with goldfish too. Hope your dad improves but its good that he is in good spirits. Enjoy your staycation and your kitties.

DrSue. so great to hear from you from your camp. Sounds like you are enjoying yourself and the bounty from the farmer's market. Sorry your dad is not doing well. Thanks for the suggestion. Actually brought a smile to my face because its hard for me to think of anything Bill did not like. He was the easiest guy in the world to cook for. Your concoction sounded great until you added the beets. You lost me there but it did give me an idea.

Peg, good for you to get a massage as a consolation from missing out of DrSue's camp. Hope Melinda improves. Kitties can be wicked when they don't feel good. Hope you have a drama-free day. I don't know how you do it but you are a great daughter to your mom.

Nicky, I know you are at Nother Mother's so I hope you are having a nice time. Remember NONUTS.

Beryl, you are always so busy I bet you look forward to a night "off" every now and then.

Lori, yuck about the mushrooms. I will venture a guess they are not morels. Morels don't eat other plants but I do know someone who got a patch via some new dirt and didn't know what they were. She was pulling them out and throwing them away. Its morel season here and I just don't feel like venturing into the woods alone (with Annie) to look. It was something Bill & I did together every year.

Rotten cold here--39 degrees and windy so it feels 10 degrees colder. Yesterday it was 70 and Sunday the high was in the 80s. Michigan weather! I have had enough. I am trying to price things for my moving sale. I have no clue because I never go to yard/garage sales. I am doing research online and then guessing.

Last day of the cleanse regime. It hasn't been that hard except that I am sick of lemon water and all things acidic. Herbal tea is OK but after a while it all tastes the same. But I feel fine withe all the veggies and fruit I am eating. Tomorrow I will ease back into some things but its going to be a gradual ease. I do NOT want to return to the cheese & crackers and chocolate and nuts and.....

Hello Team,

Just got all caught up. Dr. Sue, I'm glad you get some alone time with Q and that your parents are going to the Jersey Shore. I'm hoping that they have a safe and happy trip. I've put some chili powder in the bird seed and it slows down the squirrel but not much. Wouldn't the chili powder hurt the birds eyes? Our California Thraser is visiting again.

Kathie, I'm glad the cleanse is going well. I, too, wish that I were there with you for coffee on Wednesday. I'd give you hugs for sure.

Nicky, I love the new pics. Wow, everything was so beautiful. Take good care of yourself at NM's.

Beryl, enjoy your time alone. I hope that your class is going well. Also, is Jo showing any jealousy?

Kellie, so much fun, your new tinies with there larger playmates. I want some pictures of your garden, please.

Peg, I can't get enough hugs from my DD1's babies, my DS's babe gives me hugs sparsely. Sorry for all the difficult times with your DM.

I'm not sleeping well. Was up all night with restless leg. But my gardens are doing beautifully. This years soil, purchased at Lowes, had mushrooms, now most of my plants do too, ugh. They're are two kinds. One has a black in it and dyes my leaves. I ate a delicious large strawberry frame one of my plants last night.

Well Heidi is going gaga over all the choices for flooring in her soon to be built house.

~ sending love and hugs, Lori

Sorry team I got interrupted. I went to my folks to help load the car and was informed, I was not needed yet as dad was packing his suitcase. He said it would be a while. So I sat and started to post, when he called me to help. He was taking clothes out of his bureau, and had me walking back and forth packing the bag. I got them loaded up and Dad commented " if we needed Sue to load the car, how are we gonna unload it?"

I painted for 3 hours and went to walk with Q when the heavens opened up. We were on the other side of the lake. I took refuge on a friends porch. By the time we walked home we were wet-not soaked- and it was gorgeously sunny again.

Kathie, I eat alone a lot as my DH and I are on very different schedules. Why don't you try finding something that you love to cook that Bill would not have gone for? I do some outrageous experiments in my kitchen when J is gone. Yesterday for lunch I made beet and carrot "noodles" with shrimp, asparagus and ramps in a peanut sirracha sauce. Over all delicious- things I need to change. As the beets bled into the sauce it got a little gnarly looking.
I hope you hear soon about your houses. I am so proud of you for feeling like living, not just surviving. You are amazing.

Peg, I am sorry you couldn't make it, but the invite is there. I hope Melinda is doing better. Yeah for DGS's winning team.

Beryl, I hope you like your class this time around. I am sure you are having a lot if fun with the GK's! I hope you got to the winery.

Kellie, I hope everyone is recovering from the trauma of the crash. Such a terrible thing. I arrived here to find the jury's decision in the Marathon bombing case was death. For Mass, I am surprised but when you have been convicted of over 20 federal crimes that carry that penalty, I suppose there is one that everyone can agree on. What a world. I am glad you are enjoying your fish, and packing and tracking. I hope you father continues to improve.

Lori, your plants are so beautiful. Enjoy the rain!

Nicky, I am so happy you had such a great trip. I will try to look at the pictures. I have never been past Las Vegas, so can only imagine how different it is out and up there. My parents lived on Vashon island in puget sound (Wa State) when my dad was stationed there. I grew up hearing stories and seeing the pictures. Someday! Have fun/good luck at NM's place.

Ok. Ladies, the sun is out, I am getting on the boat before it rains again,

Good morning Team. Some rain last night (not enough) and the sun trying to peek through. Am making myself feel better about not making it to DR SUE's camp by making a massage appt. for this afternoon. Then to get some plants for my pots. Tail wagging parts of a droopy tail day.
Enjoy your time alone, DR SUE and BERYL. Our farmer's market hasn't opened yet and even the little stands aren't open, except for asparagus. Maybe this weekend.
Pool gets opened on Saturday!
A big hello to all!

Good drizzly Tuesday ladies. Doing the Ruby wag it's no longer Monday!
DrSue, enjoy the alone time and the bounty. Sounds like heaven to me.
Kellie--I laughed out loud at the 25 cent fish comment. Enjoy your staycation.
Waving hi to Lori, Kathie, Peg, Nicky--hope you all have a good day.
Work then staff meeting then zumba. Made dinner last night so it's all good. DH and DS are going out to dinner tomorrow night in Philly. I was invited but it'll be too late for me, so I'll be happy as can be alone at home!
Have a good day ladies. Do something NICE for yourselves. emoticon

Hi Team! I downloaded all the posts and the caught up at the cottage.
I am happily at camp. I have been doing lots of things, been running a couple of times, painting the inside of the porch, yard work. What I try to do here is work in the morning on projects, then make a nice lunch and play in the afternoon. Sunday I hit the farmers Sunday, and went hog wild. I have been eating natures bounty, like crazy. I hope I will rewarded on the scale. My parents are leaving for the Jersey Shore for 21/2 weeks. For the first time in ages, I will be here alone for a couple if days. I am in heaven. My Dad's mobility is getting worse and worse as is his balance. So he never wants to come over to the cottage. Therefore when I'm here alone with them even if I'm cooking, I aquiess and do it at their house. My aunt and uncle arrive Thursday, but they are easy.

Kathie a big hug to you & I wish you lived closer too to do a coffee I love what Nicky said about your story and your progression.

Peg I hope your little one fees better! I have been there.
With all the craziness taking care of parents, the WW journey had to come last in some areas it was just too much, and thats ok. Sanity was a priority for me.

Staycaton is good managed to sleep in, walk two miles first thing, go grocery shopping (saved $30 in coupons and a rebate!) went to doctors (finally getting caught up on preventative appointments ), and clean out parts of my closet (thank you Kathie for the motivation) and office. I am at like 12,000 K and am feeling quite good. I bought those frozen weight watchers patties that are chicken and they are delicious with lettuce, tomato and one point rolls!

My dad seems to be pretty wobbly on his feet still so my mom is getting another opinion. His attitude is good, but he sits mainly and lays in bed. I am hope he shows improvement soon..

Met one of our travel buddies for dinner and talking more about the Iceland trip. 

My new little kitty cricket really loves the bench in my office. Its nice to have his company here, like hes always been here. The two new little kitties are so happy and Mango really loves life more with his new buddies here! Go 13 year old kitty - the little ones have given him a lot of zest! 

I was silly enough to get an estimate on getting the growth removed on my pond fish $250 lol. Hospital fees, surgery and recovery. He only deals with pond fish. Makes sense if I had a $200 koi, but my 29 cent fish thats two lol I dont think so.

Have a good evening all.

Good afternoon Team!
Finally sitting down and catching up. Mowed the lawn (discovered I had to get gas first) and then it was off to pilates. Need to run a few errands, now.
KATHIE, NICKY is right...hugs are few and far between, even with children. I used to be able to count on hugs from DGS but now he's 11 and it just doesn't happen unless I say...c'mon, give me a hug" lol
This health journey and every other life journey is just so individual...what works for one doesn't for the other.
KATHIE, hoping to hear soon that I can start to uncross body parts.
Melinda is doing better not vomiting, but I discovered that she had peed on the furniture. Another reason she has been restricted to "her room". Although this time she's even gone on the chair in her room and at her worst, she always used the litter box when she was in the room. Who knows...eventually this, too, will be figured out. Back to the enzyme pouring.
BERYL, it is quite humid here, too. Cooler today; yesterday at the game was brutal. Felt (and heard) my fat sizzling. My hair is stick straight, so no frizzies for me...just hair plastered to my head. And my stomach hasn't rebelled at anything...never nuts (or choc., or wine, or....)
KELLIE, I also saw the Avengers movie. Love that Thor! Enjoy your week off.
NICKY, safe trip to "'n. m."
A big hi to LORI, HEIDI and DR SUE. I had planned to visit DR SUE at her camp, but want to be able to check on Melinda every few hours, so that won't work this time. Hoping to make a trip out there some time this season.
Have a great day!

Peg

Nicky, I wish you much luck and love in the next couple of weeks. You are such a good person to be going there. DD is a vegan, so most of what most people eat won't work for her. She just emailed me she increased her intake with (wait for it) NUTS over the weekend and her stomach rebelled. Like that would ever happen to us!!
Aren't hugs the best? They just make everything seem better!

KATHIE, reading about your evolution is soooooo inspiring! You write what all of us mull over but can't put into words.
Some "experts" say eat the carbs before noon. Others say eat them at night. Only one example, proof positive, you gotta know how your own body works at every stage.

I love what you said about WI. I wish you lived around the corner! You would get a hug every single day!

BERYL, my DD has given up triathlon in favor of hiking, backpacking, and 1/2 marathons. She has learned it's a deadend to fuel with sugar---doesn't get you health. We fueled with grass-fed beef or pastured turkey sticks and pumpkin seeds on our treks.
Look whose talking! I have tried every stupid "diet" in my "yout."

BERYL, did the birthing go without incident? How is Jo reacting to the reality? When my DD was born, I put her with the babysitter once a week, I think, and spent alone time with DS. Glad I did that. They were great friends up until their teens. Sigh.

I go to 'nother mother's tomorrow. I am in control of what we eat and when, so there's no excuse for stuffing. Last visit, I was so worn out and stressed as a care giver for her and the dogs, that I ate nuts by the handfuls after she went to bed.

Hugs come few and far between as we get older. It's a shame because a simple hug sends oxytocin and other feel-good hormones throughout the body. Bless our animals! DH is not a natural hugger.

Hug someone today!

When you arise in the morning,

give thanks for the morning light, for your life and strength.

Give thanks for your food and the joy of living.

If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies in yourself.

Good Monday morning all. Turned the a/c on last night and it feels good. While not very hot, it's very humid. Frizzy hair weather as we know it here!
Kathie, good for you for knowing what works for you. No one can say what works for everyone--wouldn't it be nice if there was a magic formula?! You're happy with it and the results and can live with it on and off to reset. Makes sense. DD1, the vegan, is doing what she calls a cleanse of no sugar. She eats jellybeans at work. But she doesn't get enough calories for all her exercise. She does the triathalons and works out very hard every day, and just doesn't eat enough. Her call, not mine.
Hope everyone has a good day and does something nice for yourselves. emoticon

Welcome back Nicky & thanks for the wise words. And Peg too. When it comes to the scale each of us needs to do what works. Maye weighing once a week (or never) works for some. Not me. Of course its just a snap shot and only reports one aspect of health but its useful information if you use it properly. For the past several months I've noted the slow & steady gain. The scale was dutifully reporting that what I was eating was causing me to gain but I didn't care enough to do anything about it. The few minutes of comfort that comfort food provided was too strong a call for me to resist. Its very emotionally lonely to be a childless widow. My parents have been gone for many years. The hugs are few and far between.

But (!) I decided one day this month that I am not ready to give into it. And this opportunity to do the cleanse through my massage therapist came a the right time. Its only 4 days and not horribly restrictive. I can have all the the fruits and veggies I want and 4 oz. of lean protein at lunch and dinner. Also protein powder added to the green smoothie (made with almond/coconut milk) at breakfast. Its healthy eating. Its day 3 today and although I miss my coffee time I haven't had a headache. I've gone off coffee in the past without incident so I know I am not addicted to caffeine. But I miss it and its the first thing I will add back into my day on Wednesday.

I've had a few "duh" moments. When I'm hungry but don't feel like making a meal why not a green smoothie rather than cheese & crackers (or worse)? Why not limit starch to one serving a day? Why not do a day or two of cleanse any time I need to reset? Actually I feel good. I am eating clean again and will be very careful what I add back in. Oh, and the scale approves.

Nicky loved the photos. DD is pretty funny to pull that on you. Tells what a great relationship you have. The hike sounded pretty strenuous. You rock.

Peg, three cheers for DGS's team. Sorry about Melinda. I hope it can be controlled without insulin. Is that why she got sick. Sorry about that too.

Kellie, good for you for avoiding the carnival food. Cool that your new fish are fitting right in with the resident school.

Hi to Lori with the wonderful garden and Beryl with the new DGS and DrSue who is hopefully enjoying her camp.

No word on either house. The people here told my realtor to call them after Memorial Day. Two parties "interested" in the NC house but no offer yet. Today I will start gathering things for the garage sale. Big job and now I have less than 3 weeks.

Hi Ladies, It was a good weekend. Friday the Avengers movie, yesterday the Dogwood festival which ended up being a kid carnival. There were rides and dietary obscenities of all sorts. :) I ate none of them! I went to WW today and had a gain so I am tracking and making sure I stay away from certain things. Still work to do, but in control. The meeting was about setting a plan,

I cant recall if I told everyone, but I am off the whole week a staycation :) need the time off to get organized & rest.

Lets see, I went completely nuts in the garden today weeded, planted, and ordered pond plants. I won three little gold fish at the festival and the pond fish love their new little friends ;) they are a pretty good size and seem to be swimming together!

Peg, I am sorry about the check mix up with your mom its so hard and I am with you. I think you are pretty amazing for all you do and how you comfort your mom. I admire you

Nicky, I love how you say our bodies are always changing. Thats how I feel . Makes the weight loss journey fun and difficult at times.

Kathie, any word on the home sell?

LOri, what did you do in the garden this past weekend?

Beryl, the baby is so adorable and tiny :) love her!

Hello Dr. Sue and Heidi and all else who stop by have a great evening

I'm Kellie :)

NICKY, Must have been all that Oregon air that made you philosophical :) Yes, we do know what we need if we would just listen to ourselves. Since I restarted my health program, I weigh in each morning. I track weekly, but check in daily. And, oddly enough, I no longer feel terrorized either. I'm able to look at it as just a "snapshot" of where I am at that moment. Of course, too many snapshots in the wrong direction calls for action, but one or two...not sweating it anymore. Off to check out your pics now.
BERYL, I hope you made to the winery.
DGS's team won both games of the doubleheader. I only saw the first game as I had to get back to steamclean where Melinda had been sick. You'd think she could have stuck to one spot, but nooooo. DD1 said they played better in the second game and DGS hit a homerun.
Hoping all have a good evening.

Posted a couple more pics on my SparkPage. DD is an imp. She would take my picture and say "Point to the Falls," or "Point to Mt. Hood."
One night at the motel she was giggling away. Well, she made a collage of ME pointing and posted it on FB with the #PointingAtStuff. Ever see that? People pointing at the obvious, like a fellow pointing at the bear in the enclosure? Could have smacked her. emoticon
Humor at mommy's expense ever since those kids were teens.

If I don't WI regularly, I get COMPLACENT!! One of my mentors is Jason Seib of JASSAFIT, a fitness coach who specializes in women-of-a-certain age and fat loss. He's wonderful. On his site is a pic of a woman at 155# before and a pic of that same woman at 155# after she has lifted weights for some period of time. She dropped several pant sizes, although she weighs the same! Okay. I get that. He says the scale is worthless, and we should throw them away.
I followed that guideline for several months. It didn't work for me because I'm the type, the personality, that needs to monitor and journal. It's my type; it's not good or bad; it just is.

So, I'm back doing what works for me. I'm not terrorized by the scale as I had been for several years. I know it is a fickle friend, but it keeps me honest.

We are constantly getting to know ourselves, no matter what age or how "wise."
We are always becoming, going on the path; nothing, absolutely nothing is static, and that means bad times, too.
Phew! I just hurt my brain getting all philosophical. emoticon

Welcome back Nicky! Sounds like a fabulous trip. I have never been anywhere west of Virginia, so all that sounds just lovely.
Peg, enjoy the game. And the sun.
Cloudy here, humid, sprinkles on and off. Went on a long bike ride this morning and had a pedi. We are supposed to hit a winery but DH is having a problem with a door he installed.....doesn't make me happy at all....but we'll see.
Have a good day ladies!

Happy Sunday morning Team! Going to be quite hot here today. DGS has a game this afternoon (they won last night) so I need to accomplish all that I can before then. Down another pound (yay!) but last night I got into some gf crackers. Needed to munch I guess. First thing this morning the remainder went right into the trash!
Hope everyone has a great day.

PEG, I understand your frustration. How so very sad to see our parents and friends travel down the path of dementia. My step mom (95) and 'nother mother (96) have deteriorated more rapidly this year, both physically and mentally.
I hope my children don't have to deal with me because I KNOW I'd be a handful. I'm pretty high maintenance, but I self maintain, so to speak.

I set the first two hikes, both marked "moderate to strenuous." Both were waterfalls everywhere, and we were in forest fairy lands. This Oregon place is simply divine. I know, though, that if I moved there, I would die of mold. I would wake up one morning covered in mold and die. I'm really susceptible to mold allergens; this house had an undiagnosed mold situation for several years, and I'm the one who constantly cleaned mold off the living room and bar room furniture.

DD set the next couple of hikes, and they were STRENUOUS. We climbed 1860 feet in 2 miles. It was worth it! We hiked through fields of wild flowers, lupines, and forests with breathtaking views of Mt. Hood and Mt. St. Helens!
Ate salmon and grass-fed hamburgers without buns almost every night. Everywhere we ate had locally grown fare. Very health conscious bunch of people!

Even the 18-hour drive one way was fabulous; I broke it up in to two days, though, each way.
I drove past forests up north with views of Mt. Shasta covered in snow. Plenty of time to think and contemplate the meaning of life, so to speak. emoticon
It felt so big girl to check into a motel and pick a restaurant to eat dinner solo. Loved it.

Added just one photo to my SparkPage. Can't figure out how to upload photos from the cloud onto the page yet.

It's so good to be back here, my Team.

Wish we could hear from HEIDI.

Good afternoon Team! and Peg's World has been turning today.
Melinda hasn't acted right since yesterday so off to the vet this morning. Diagnosis : diabetic and the doc thinks she is over 10 years old. Will try to control it with diet as I can see no way to do two insulin injections and urine tests each day. Please send all your good thoughts this way because if diet doesn't work, I don't know what I'll do. Inbetween I was dealing with mom's plumbing crisis, called a plumber, went to her house while the plumber was there and wrote her check for him.. Just walked back into my house and she calls, upset, because one of the "other nurses" (there are no nurses) was there and wrote out a check and did it all wrong and the bank won't pay it, etc etc etc. Explained that I had been there and wrote the check and she calmed down. Did errands, visited DD2 at her vendor table at a car show and walked back into my house to the phone ringing...mom again...someone stole her garden clippers. (I'm sure they're there somewhere) Twenty minutes of crying, etc. Not a good day for mom. Each day I think we are getting closer to her not being able to stay in her house alone, whatever form that may take. I am so hoping that at least she gets the summer there so she can work in her garden and watch the hummingbirds...
Still tracking and doing ok...one tail wagging thing.
NICKY, I am so glad you survived; I was getting worried. Safe trip to 'nother mother's. You will vanquish those 8 lbs!
Hi BERYL, KATHIE, LORI, KELLIE,DR SUE (who should be at her camp) and HEIDI and all who drop by.

I'm back, but only until Tuesday when Gunther and I drive to 'nother mother's place for ten days or so. She's not doing so well lately at 96--more time in bed than out. The three-hour drive will be NOTHING compared to the total four days of driving I did in a week in Oregon.

DD and I drove, hiked, and ate. I didn't gain, but sure didn't lose, even after all that hiking!
Stopped at Tillamook on the Oregon coast one morning and sampled all their cheeses, and I had two scoops of Tillamook ice cream for breakfast!!
Otherwise, though it was healthy eating, just lumberjack portions.

Such good news LORI and BERYL! To see our children happy and accomplished is such a blessing.

KATHIE, how is the reset going? If the coffee withdrawal doesn't give you a headache, then probably it's not an issue for you. It bothers my stomach something fierce. Although I love it, it's better for my body not to indulge. I think that's information we get with a "cleanse."

PEG, I'll catch up with As Peg's World Turns sometime this weekend.

LORI, how was Loughlin?

I simply MUST SHED these 8 pounds to fit into my rock-the-dress at the end of June. There will be a dinner at the end of The Great Race this year, which is on Route 66 that ends at Santa Monica Pier. DH is involved through his directorship at the Automobile Driving Museum. He will be awarding the Hard Luck trophy, and the Museum will have a booth on the pier.
I refuse to buy another dress; I love that dress; I've been carrying around 8 extra pounds of fat for far too long. No excuse except over indulging in good quality food and BLTs.

KATHIE, why not skip dinner if it is sad and make a new Habit of having your dinner at lunch? Snack at night? Just a thought. I do better if I don't have dinner late. DH doesn't eat until almost 9. I can't wait that long, so we have dinner dates on weekends at a compromise 7:30.

When you arise in the morning,

give thanks for the morning light, for your life and strength.

Give thanks for your food and the joy of living.

If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies in yourself.

Good evening team,

I've got GREAT news. We have an attorney in the family. Yes, DS passed the Bar. Baruch HaShem, thank G-d and I'm so very proud of him. Yippee!

Ari did well. So happy for you Beryl. It was so nice what your DD did, in honor of your Dad. I know what you mean, I NEVER eat when I'm with my babies. I remember when ever we went to a restaurant I was on kidlet duty while everyone ate.

Kathie, good for you, what helps me is a steak day. I eat a big fatty steak and an hour later an apple. Nothing else, I lose 3-5 pounds every time. It re-sets my body, every time. I wish you lots of success.

Kellie I'm so glad that you feel better and you are on vacation, yay you and Tom.

Peg, I hope that you enjoyed your master garden time. Also, I'm so glad that DGS is doing ok.

Yoo hoo, Nicky how art thou?

~hugs to all, Lori

Hi ladies. Late to the party today, but thought of you all. Just sat down for the first time today at 9pm!
Circumcision went fine. He was a trooper. What a cutie little Ari is. My DD has such a good heart. She dressed him in a little onesie with fake suspenders on it in memory of my dad (for whom he is named) who always wore them. DSIL sat in a chair and slept the whole time. What a load. My mother and I picked up Jo at daycare after it was over and a few of us went out for lunch. Jo would go to no one but me and I AM EXHAUSTED!! If I had her all the time I'd weigh nothing. YOu can't eat when you're out with her! lol
There is a big 2 day Italian fest in Philly this weekend. We may go Sunday. If the weather holds.
Kellie, enjoy the week off!!
Peg, you are so focused and intent! Your head is totally in the game.
Kathie, I hope the restrictions work for you. I find when I am cooking for myself I splurge on things I normally wouldn't buy.
Lori, slugs-BLECH!!! ICK!! But a gorgeous garden!
Off to read a bit and go to bed!!

Good evening Team!
Just got back from the master gardeners' demo garden. Helped to tag plants for tomorrow's division class. Now I have to fix something to eat.
Went to mom's to meet with a fence guy. He'll take down and take away her old fence and put up a new one. It will happen in about 3 weeks. So, mom calls this evening and wants to know what time tomorrow they'll be there. Took lots of "splainin'" and I think she now has a handle on when they will be back. Pretty quiet here today and for the weekend, a couple of baseball games for DGS.
KATHIE, I hope the class goes well. It sounds like a good plan. I find that I often need something to "jumpstart" being OP and this "gentle cleanse" sounds like it will fit the bill. I've gotten used to just cooking for me, but there are definitely times when I think "why bother?" and that is a slippery slope. As for living instead of just surviving, it took the arrival of spring for me to make that leap.
KELLIE, enjoy your week off; sounds like it will be fun.
Hope the rest of the team is doing well!

Hi Ladies, feeling much better today after feel a little punkie yesterday I managed to go to bed pretty early. Its been a quiet day in the office.
I found this great blog and they have a lot of great recipes
https://blog.myfitnesspal.com/
trying to finish up loose ends here at work in preparation for a weeks vacation. I have some groupons printed and living social deals, so it will be a fun week with Tom. I am dying to do some cooking and get in a lot of walks.

Lori, Love the picture I can never get Fuchsia to grow for me. It seems like the train was going twice its allowed speed they are really not sure what happened, but all the cars derailed!

Peg, you are very focused on your WL goals thats great

Kathie, I love what you said about living over surviving. Im the same way; I have to be doing something to stay busy, but enjoying some down time is good. Wow, thats clean eating and some nice learning with the workshop. I would love it. I would have a really hard time too with the meals and cooking for one. I love that you are really in touch with everything in a short tome. I love how organized you are.

Beryl, whats on tap for the weekend ? Something fun?

Dr. Sue and Nicky hello

They are doing a race and happy hour at work getting all set up!
Hoping for a 10K day and some other exercise. Have a great evening - kellie

Chilly & wet today. But its so pretty outside with all the green. And its been such a dry spring that I am sure the pretty green things are happily drinking it up.

Tonight I am going to a meeting at my massage therapist's house, a followup to one she had a couple of weeks ago. She's doing a wellness course and we are starting a 4 day cleansing program. No fasting or anything drastic but for 4 days I will be giving up sugar, starch, dairy, alcohol, and caffeine (ouch on the last). So fruits, veggies, lean meat. I love roasted veggies so that part is fine. I will miss my coffee but decaf is allowed so maybe that will satisfy me for 4 days. Off sugar is what I really need. Off bread for a bit. I shopped at the health food store in the city on Wednesday so I have herbal tea, green protein powders and some other things she recommended. I want to JUST DO IT after getting the info tonight. Wish me luck. I am so hoping that I can get myself back into a healthy eating routine. Planning for the week. Shopping for only the right things. Then actually following through with the cooking. I am just finding it so hard to do this just for me. Eating dinner alone is still really sad so I often just graze and wind up eating all the wrong things.

Happy Friday morning Team! Cloudy now, maybe some rain over the weekend and we need it. Higher precip. than average (snow) all winter and lower precip. (rain) now when we could use it. crazy...crazy
Glad you're getting some rain, LORI. (And I bet your plants are, too)
DGS is doing okay. He's been pitching quite regularly and doing fine. Kids are so resilient!
DR SUE should be/is/will be heading to camp. I'm going to try to go there next week. It is such a beautiful place.
Has anyone heard from NICKY? Did she survive?
Hi BERYL, today's the big day for little Ari! How was class last night.
A big HELLO to KATHIE and KELLIE (and HEIDI...are you peeking in from time to time?)

Hello Team,

Today it is pouring rain. You can all have a good laugh at me battling the snails and slugs. Oh man, I am Not winning.

Beryl, I was present at my first grandson's circumcision, not cuz I wanted to be, however, Kaiser decided to do that and clip his tongue tie, seconds after his birth. They were CrAzY doctors and nurses. As if being born isn't traumatic enough. I'm glad that you are enjoying Ari. How is Jo around him?

Kathie I just went to look at your drawers. So nice, I tried to post a comment but it wouldn't let me. Still praying for these buyers to buy your homes. You are so busy, and enjoying the wArmer weather.

Peg, your mom is just too funny. I'm also wonder about your DGS. How is he doing?

~hoping all have a good evening, hugs

~ Lori ~

I'm here because I want to be healthy.

On my SP page, Beryl.

Its warmed up here. We walked out here in the country because its cold in town. Winds off the lake. Also got some yardwork done. Dug up roots of perennial herbs that did not survive the severe winter. I had them for years & years but this past winter was just too cold. Though I lost a shrub but the root system survived and its sending up new shoots so I cut back all the dead wood and hauled it away. Then transplanted baby ferns that were coming up where I don't want them.

I feel like I am the clean house fairy. Today is a day off since I had a showing yesterday and did my Thurs/Fri/Sat tasks yesterday. Give me time for yardwork and I really need to start gathering up the small stuff for the garage sale while I have nice weather to carry it out. I have a bunch of folding tables from the studio that I can use.

End of break. Back to work. I feel guilty if I'm not doing something useful. How dumb is that?

Good morning Team! It is beautiful today! Had to wear a sweatshirt this morning, though. Took mom to a doc. appt. and now am back home. Walked into her house and saw her dustpan and broom by the front door. I said, "oh, I see you found your dustpan.". Her response "Someone put them there. When I came downstairs this morning they were there." Bet you guys didn't know there were dustpan fairies flitting about lol
BERYL, thanks for explaining bris. Hope tonight's class goes well. Are any of the same students in it? I looked at KATHIE's shirt pics and that's how my drawer looks, too..
Today I hope to finish the initial garden work. It's been a long time coming. I think because my day is broken up with mom things and then it's hard to get motivated.
A big HI to all. I'll be checking back in later.

Just realized it's not morning anymore so...Good afternoon Team!

Good morning. The day started out pretty chilly (36) but its supposed to warm up to 60 and the sun is out so I am looking forward to a walk later. Its so very pretty outside right now. I love spring and I am amazed at how good it feels to see it emerging. It makes me want to start living rather than just surviving. I feel like I'm still in limbo with the house situation so its baby steps but somewhere inside I am starting to feel a bit more alive.

Beryl, I hope you do not have any problem students this time around. I uploaded a couple photos of my drawers with the folded shirts standing up. I took the photos to try to convince a friend to read the book.

Peg, maybe checking the team messages and checking in more often will help me get on track. Thanks for the suggestions.

Lori, your flowers are gorgeous. I have to wait another couple of weeks to buy annuals. We can have a frost any time in May. (Oh to be in Carolina)

Kellie, congrats on your weight loss. You are well on your way.

DrSue, hope things are blooming where you live.

Nicky??? Heidi??/

Good morning all. Boy is it cool here today! Bright and sunny but the heat in the car felt good!
Yes, Kathie, a bris is the ritual circumcision. They chose to have a religious person do it, as opposed to a doc at the hospital so it's at my house. I will be in the back NOT looking. lol
Starting the teaching tonight and feel OK about it, at least the first class. lol
Can't wait to read that book cause I sure can't picture standing them up, as I said.
Kathie, it all sounds good!!
Peg, a dustpan? That's the last thing I'd ever hope to find. lol. Looks like DGS will have a winning team again this year! How is he doing after the accident last week?
Off to start my day. Have a good one friends.

Hi guys! Yes, this is my third time checking in today, but if it "keeps me honest", then that's what I'll have to do.
BERYL, I couldn't picture standing my tee shirts up either, bit it works! Bris??? (is that circumcision? or am I totally off base?
LORI, your plants are beautiful! We, however, have freeze warnings for overnight...oh my... Glad you're enjoying your rose. I'm about 90 miles north of New York City, so, about that far from Brooklyn.
KATHIE, hoping it all works out. (and it will, but hoping it's sooner rather than later)
Just got home from DGS's game and they won. Came home to a message from mom, "do I know where her dustpan is?". The answer, of course, is no, I have no idea lol At least when the kids of XDH would ask, I had a chance of knowing because it was my house. But my mother's????

Peg, yay for the loss and tracking. and yay Kellie too! What a bunch of losers we have!!
Lori, gorgeous!!
Kathie--I'm losing feeling in some of my body parts, but they're still crossed. Enjoy your evening!
Having the bris here Friday. trays ordered. There will be wine Friday night for me!! lol The bris is Friday morning. WEnt to see Ari today. What a little muffin! You forget how sweet they are when they're so little!
The last I heard about the horrible crash, the train was going 100 miles an hour and the curve was to be taken at 50. So, so scary and horrible. So many lives lost and changed forever in an instant.
I can't wait to read that book about packing and decluttering. I cant' picture standing my tshirts up in the drawer.

I just heard about the crash. I don't watch much TV and I didn't have time to read the newspaper this morning. How terrible. I have family in Philly and NYC and they take the train back & forth all time.

The feedback from the showing here was very good. The husband is ready to buy but this would have been the 3rd time he was here. This was the first time his wife saw the house. So now its wait & see what, if anything, develops.

Chilly here but sunny. I'm heading to town to meet a couple of friends so will walk Annie first. Will check in later.

Sorry that they are sideways

Hello Team,
.
Kellie, 2.6 pounds is not chump change, ♪♫HaPpY ♪♫ dAnCInG♪♫, ♪♫HaPpY ♪♫ dAnCInG♪♫, ♪♫HaPpY ♪♫ dAnCInG♪♫. I'm so glad that your fish, little guy, is loving your pond. Yes, I heard about the train crash, it was terrible and scary. I don't think they knew the cause last night, do they yet?

Dr. Sue, I love all the birds that come into my garden. It's like an aviary for me and DH. I would love to do what you did. My niece is an Oranthologist. She works with lots of different animals too. She is currently working on a ranch, with cows. I think 10,000 steps is hard to achieve and look at you going for 15000. How is Q?

Kathie, wow, I'm sure you feel very accomplished. I've been de-cluttering our garage too. I'm all in for less is more. I love the feeling. I would love to see all the green and all the birds on your lake. How beautiful. Have you ever done one of your gorgeous art/fabric on your view? I'm gonna go and check your photos on SP and FB.

Beryl, yes allergies are terrible, but spring is just way too pleasant to forfeit. Hey, updates please on little Ari and Jo, please.

Peg, you are to the rescue again. I'm glad that you are taking supplements that seem to be working. You are in NY? How far from Briar Park/Brooklyn?

Yes, team, I've been out in my gardens. Yesterday, for our anniversary, I finally got my Neil Diamond rose bush. Omg, it has such an awesome fragrance. I go out to it several times a day to just breath it in. I, also, got another fuchsia. It's smaller than my miracle girl, but it's flowers are a much darker purple. Just glorious.

Oh Nicky, where art thou?

~hugs, Lori
