Hi team! Yesterday was a scorcher, today cool and cloudy. I think the rain is supposed to hold off, so that is good for the happy couple. It is an outdoor wedding and partially out door reception.

Peg, I know some people were less than thrilled when the date was announced. Especially around here because it is Figawi weekend. Figawi is a huge race from the cape to Nantucket. It is more about the party than the race. So a huge group of this circle always go and a brother and sister have birthdays. However, their niece had her high school graduation and party Friday and Sat, so that really sealed the end of Nantucket. I personally never leave town, I work Sat, and have zero desire to be one the road with everyone else.

Kathie go absorb some good vibes!

Lori, enjoy family time!

I am off to workout!

Good morning team. I was up early this morning as well. Needed to straighten up & put away all the clothes I had drying on hangars in the bathroom. The dryer is in the crypt and the steep slippery stair are a pain to keep running up and down to check. I don't care about towels and gym socks getting overdryed and wrinkled by prefer to hang my clothes on the shower rod. As soon as I receive my "good to close" I will order a washer, dryer and better stove for my house. The laundry "room" is a closet. Eventually I will trick that out to make it super efficient. Honestly I can't wait to get in there. You've heard that here before.

Meeting my realtor this morning to go to a flea market that she says is fun then over to my house to check on the repairs and also take a few more measurements. That's my story but I think i just need to be there and feel the vibes.

Then my nephew is coming from Atlanta to pick up furniture. I haven't seen him in a long, long time. They lived in Singapore for several years (he speaks Chinese).

I'm enjoying Beryl's photos. She's having a wonderful time. And it makes me happy to see someone enjoying herself that much.

Hope my teamies all have a great day.

Checking back in, team.
Laughed at DR SUE's chippy story and KATHIE's misunderstanding brother. (Right, like you and Bill would have bought such a place...)
LORI, glad your family is visiting.
Mani/pedi time for DR SUE...yay! Was at a neighbor's tonight and one of the topics was their displeasure at a friend's choice of this weekend for a wedding. Appeared to be cutting into their weekend plans.
Set my alarm so I can get into the garden early. Otherwise, it will be way too hot.
Wishing all a good evening.

Hello Team,

Peg, so sorry about Chippy. How sad. Some of my squirrels look like chipmunks. They all stand on the bricks to drink, or hang upside down from the stucco walls to drink. I love sharing with G-d's creation. Your pastel does sound dark, as is the subject you are using. I'm not sure how you could make it any lighter.

Kathie, I'm, so, happy dancing with you. I was talking about your journey with my DD2, yesterday. I told her how we've all been praying, crossing all body parts, etc. she was so happy for you too. I hope that you set your brother straight on this being a rental. I'll get my DD2's itinerary, I know that it is 7 countries, including Austrailia.

Dr. Sue, maybe you should buy the car thing that Kathie did for Annie and Charlie. Yes, my family is like chocolate fudge topping for me. I love having them here with me. DH will be home with with us till Monday which means I'm slightly less busy and there will be lots of movies and long walks.

Nicky are you enjoying our amazing weather?

~I'm off and sending hugs to my team, Lori

DrSue, enjoy the mani-pedi. I had one a few weeks after I got here. It had been years since the last (I did my own but not the same.)

I can still boost Annie at 75# but bought this for loading Charlie:

http://www.petloader.com/

Annie will use it as well. It will be easier when I have a garage. Where I park now it difficult to set up so Charlie doesn't go on a lot of rides.

Beryl looks like she is having a great time. She looks beautiful! I did the voodoo tour once very fun. Can't go wrong with an Emeril restaurant.

Peg, sounds like you will be in the pool soon. I'm sorry about the chippy. I love those little guys. I tamed some one summer. Pretty funny story. Thought it was 1or two. Turned to be a herd. I went off to college, my parents had been away from the lake for a few weeks. They arrived with company for cocktails and six chipmunks came barreling onto the dock claiming on people's chairs begging for snacks. Now, I only gave them peanuts, and never on the dock.

Lori enjoy your family visit! I know how important familly is to you.

Kathie, you are in the home stretch! I'm so excited for you!

Well team, believe it or not, I am having a mani-pedi as I write. A friends daughter's wedding is tomorrow. My hands and feet were a disaster, so I'm fixing it before sandals. My poor Q is showing his age emoticon I noticed it at camp, but he missed trying to jump in the truck yesterday. Thank heavens I wasn't carrying anything, so I caught him. Got his hind end safely back to the ground, then boosted him up. We had to do that when he was a puppy, not at 95lb! And the newer Tahoe is higher.

Pedi almost done- heading for mani emoticon

Hi Team. Another gorgeous day in WNC. I must sound like a broken record.

Thanks everyone for all the prayers and crossed body parts. I am almost ready to exhale. I've been through so much the past two years I'm still watching out of the corner of my eye for someone to yank the rug out from under me again but I'm proceeding with the belief that the attorney knows what she is talking about and everyone will follow through with what they committed to do. Once I get my "good to close" letter I will finally celebrate.

Lori thanks for posting Beryl's FB pics here. I hope the cortisone injections work for you. Some people report immediate relief and for others like me it took a while for it to work into wherever it needed to go. But once it was there it was a miracle. I have a knee with tendon issues (complicated), I had cortisone treatments followed by a long course of steroids in my late 20s. It did not flare up again until I was in my late 50s. Then just one shot and I've been fine ever since. I hope it works for you. Enjoy your family visit. How long will DD be in Europe? What is her itinerary?

Peg, nice that Mother Nature is heating your pool today. Hope you get to use it a lot this summer. The painting sound intriguing. I hope you will post it when you finish. And your DD is quite an accomplished artist too.

Nicky that sounds like a great spa break. Remind me to schedule one for myself when I get settled. I think purple laces and soles make the hiking boots fun. I just bought a new pair myself though lower cut and featherweight. I was supposed to go on a hike but it was cancelled. Have signed up for a couple more. Rated moderate. It seems like a good level to start. I am used to scrambling around in the woods looking for mushrooms and walk on some pretty steep hills but rocks and rivers are probably out of my league.

DrSue, wow you are a woman with a past! I've drivien through that part of AZ. Its pretty remote. The west is so different. I found it beautiful but if I lived there I would miss the trees too much. I'm impressed you got right back into work and your workouts. Hope you had a quiet half day and are by now having a relaxing weekend.

Cleaning this dump today. My nephew is coming tomorrow to pick up the furniture and I'm embarrassed. Even clean this place is shabby, shabby, shabby. Annie is shedding like mad, I brushed a pillowcase full of hair from her before I even started vacuuming. Funny story--when my brother & I arrived here the first day he kept giving me strange looks. Seems somehow he had not heard that my other house had sold and I was moving to a rental. So he thought Bill & I had bought this dump and he couldn't quite get his head around me living like this.

Still following phase I of Always Hungry. The scale is moving and my clothes are a little looser. And no cravings at all. Well, except the wanting of a glass of wine but that's not a really a craving and its only been maybe twice that I've wanted one. Phase 2 introduces quite a few foods. Some people do a phase 1.5 by adding in only what they missed. For me it would be bananas, winter squash, and wine. I honestly do not miss bread, pasta, etc. Dark chocolate is part of the program. Some nights I have an ounce or even just one square. Some nights I don't. I enjoy it and a little satisfies me. That was the case with chocolate before, when I was cooking for 2 and eating pretty healthy.

I've been adding to this on breaks from cleaning & laundry. Guess I should get that finished and face the dreaded homework.

Good morning Team!
Good news on all fronts, except for DR SUE who has to wait until Oct. for vacation. LORI's family is visiting, KATHIE's paperwork snafu is just about cleared up, BERYL is totally enjoying NOLA and NICKY has been pampering herself.
DR SUE, if the lilac was just a tiny twig that you poached, it does take years for it to be mature enough to bloom. Funny you mentioned Avalon. I was just speaking with a friend about there yesterday.
Really hot and humid; this weather is just bouncing all around. Another ozone alert, too. Pool is warming nicely. One more shot with the vacuum should do it. Have a bunch of errands to do...pool chemicals, garden stuff and a run to Sam's Club for food and paper goods. Didn't finish the oil painting yet. On Wed. did a small pastel, kind of creepy, but what can I say...maybe I'm starting my dark period? Don't "artists" have periods? Was really taken by a photo of an old abandoned state hospital...old wheelchair sitting in front of a barred window with light streaming in...very striking and surprisingly, the painting came out ok. Think it should be called "Remembering the Rabbit Hole" or something like that.
Saw a chipmunk on Thurs that looked like he was in distress but then he popped into his hole. Thought maybe it was the heat. Nope, found him dead in the yard yesterday (presuming it was the same one) Felt bad. Made sure to fill the birdbaths when I did the feeders this morning. Also put out a shallow container of water at ground level for all the little creatures to get a drink in this brutal heat.
Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Peg

Lori, we cross posted. I'm so happy you are feeling better and in time for all your guests.

My Parents made it to Avalon NJ safely and are very happy. Oldest nephew is down. I'm not sure if I posted this when I was on vacation. He just wrapped up his sophomore year in college. He has been doing ROTC and made his application to the army, and was accepted. (In case you didn't know with cut backs you have to be accepted to get an appointment). So that means his grades are good, and have to stay that way, and he gas to stay on the straight and narrow. He is a great young man. My dad said to him "so when you go through OTS they will make you an officer and a gentleman" Jake responded "Grandpa, I'm already a gentleman"

Kathie, I'm so excited for you. I know it's not yesterday, but it is so soon. You waited so long for the tide to change. Perhaps the timing will help with the hard reminders ahead. It's all positive and ALL YOURS!

Lori, thanks for sharing the pics from NOLA, I know I'm like the last holdout from Facebook.
I hope your hip is better.

Beryl, you are beautiful!!! Man, your workouts have you looking awesome! I hope you are having a ball!

Peg, my next vacation is in Oct emoticon And not scheduled yet. I may have a new part time vet. We shall see. How was pastels? Did you finish the oil? I know a new driveway isn't sexy, but you'll be happy with it. I was so happy looking at my mulched "gardens" at the camp. The lilacs my friend Heather and I poached sprigs of bloomed this year for the first time, I think it's been 6-7 years.

Nicky, I'm a So West lover. I spent a month on the Native American project. My last month in vet school. That meant I lived on the Navajo nation in window rock, Az for a month in a loft over the barn. We had to do am/pm treatments on the weekends, but other than that weekends were off. I went to Chaco canyon, canyon Dechelly, petrified national park. Coincidentally we had a wedding in Scottsdale so I drove out there and did hit GC and drove across the nation, to my loft. Plus I drove from Philly to Az with friends and back alone. My friend heather and I work together we started 20 years ago, she had points to use, and wanted to go to Az, had her own story, so we talked and came up with a trip, then two more. We had both been to GC and skipped it in our first two trips because when we went back, we wanted to do it "right". So we did the mule trip. She always wants to kill me for getting her on animals, but she didn't regret it. She didn't walk right for a week, but she loved it.

Hello Team,

I've been getting the house ready for my Dad and brother's visit, tomorrow through Tuesday. I am feeling better today, the shots in my back and hip seem to be working. DD2 is on her way to spend tonight over. She wants to spend time with me to get ready for her Europe trip, mid June. She's going alone, and will meet up with a group of young people, her age, to travel Europe. Contiki holidays is the company. So, I'm double busy till Tuesday.

Kathie, may I say F I N A L L Y. Again, this is so awesome. Yippee.

Nicky, purple laces, you can't go wrong with those, lol. I'm so glad that you are doing sweet things for yourself.

Our Beryl is enjoying her self.

KATHIE and PEG, forgot to mention that I ordered "Always Hungry" the other day. I also ordered Dr. Hyman's "Eat Fat Get Thin." Even though I've heard a few of Dr. Hyman's podcasts promoting his book, I thought I could use some more recipes AND a 21-day program to follow to kickstart my getting back into an eat-like-a-lady-instead-of-a-farmhand groove. Boy, I sure can put it away when I'm not on track. emoticon

LORI, thank you for posting those pics!!! Beryl looks like she's absolutely joyous!.
I made a typo. DH is NOT going on the mother/daughter bonding trip. It will be DD, me, and a couple from DD's work who will be hiking. 4 is better than 2, and at least there will be one man along.
How's your hip? Are you able to walk?

PEG, you must post pics of your new driveway, etc.!

Well, my Spa alone time is over as of this afternoon, but I have to say, it was grand. I spent yesterday at REI trying on hiking boots. Got some on sale, as well as super duper trekking poles because my old ones are almost useless now.

I even watched Netflix IN BED on my laptop one night! I'm a wild one, for sure.

KATHIE, that is good news, indeed!! Any chance of moving in sooner, like a renter, or something?
Knowing the waiting is coming to an end most be such a relief. Your life is NOW, so enjoy every precious minute. I hope the upcoming anniversary will be filled with loving memories and not sadness. Precious memories.

DRSUE, I'll mention south rim start to DD; however, I think she said the North Rim is a steeper, longer climb up. I got over-ankle boots at REI yesterday. The salesperson said that I wouldn't be sorry because at the end of the day, carrying a heavy pack, my foot might get twisted on a rock or stump because I'd be tired. Makes sense. I haven't worn above-ankle hikers in many years. I wear minimalist shoes with vibram soles. Theses hikers are pretty light and grippy and seem like a good compromise. Don't get the purple laces and soles, though.

I go through Las Vegas and St. George, Utah to get to the Grand Canyon, so I won't be dropping down to Sedona, etc. I attended conferences at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Mesa for many years and am quite familiar with AZ. Are you an AZ fan?
When did you do the Grand Canyon thing? Is it a favorite? Have you ever been to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons? OMG! It's like heaven. I hiked around Grand Tetons with my children and solo.

No plans for the Memorial Weekend except to hang out and maybe read.

When you arise in the morning,

give thanks for the morning light, for your life and strength.

Give thanks for your food and the joy of living.

If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies in yourself.

NEWS FLASH:

The title company has agreed to accept some specific document from the bankruptcy attorney and they have agreed to provide it. My attorney estimates that I should be able to close in 7 to 10 days. So if she's right the closing might be able to take place on June 3 but would more likely be some time after June 6 depending on how fast they produce the document.

The repairs from the inspection report are underway but not yet complete so those also need to be DONE before I can close. And of course next week is a short work week so I am guessing it will be sometime around the middle of the week after next..

But its all good news. I really want to be in before June 11. That's a day I need to keep busy. Monday is another and since I'm waaaaay behind on my homework for the online class that may be when I catch up.

Love the pictures Beryl has posted on FB. Bet she's having a great time.

Good morning Team!
Checking in before class. Very warm and humid and a few sprinkles.
Driveway will be done at the end of June.
Beignets seem like such an unBERYL" type food, but who could resist when in NOLA?
KATHIE, how nice to be able to spend that time with your friend in such an enjoyable way. Good plan to find where everything is. AH book had to go back to the library. I've been using a lot a arugula from the garden. Need to pick up some chicken to grill so I'll have it to put on top.
DR SUE, when is the next vacation?
Wishing a good day to all.!

Good morning team. Nothing to report on the closing. It was supposed to be today or maybe yesterday. The missing paper has not been located and the title company has not responded to my attorney's request.

Yesterday I went to the Penland School of Crafts with a friend who is here visiting her son. She lives in FL and i hadn't seen her in 3 or 4 years. IWe had a nice visit on a gorgeous drive through the mountains. We visited some of the galleries there and saw an inspiring exhibit. Then had a lunch at an amazing place. I stayed with my low carb plan and was barely tempted by the other items on the menu. One of the aspect of the pan is the Non Scale Victories or NSVs. Such as asking that the amberjack sandwich be served on a bed of arugula rather than bread and being just fine with it. It really was delicious and I didn't miss the bread. Some kind of first for me..

Made a good stir fry from the Always Hungry book last night. I subbed chicken for the shrimp because the un-kitchen has no exhaust fan and broccoli for snow peas because I forgot to buy them. Think I like it better with broccoli anyway. Served over a bed of baby spinach and I did not miss the rice. Next week I could serve it over brown rice but I may not bother. I liked the spinach. Peg, if you have the book try some of the recipes I have been impressed with how good they are and I eat about 3/4 of a serving and am full.

Might see the new Jane Austen movie "Love and Friendship" today. I love anything Jane Austen. And locate Whole Foods. I can see where it is on the map. I have driven past that location several times but have not seen it so it must be tucked back in behind somethings. I am making a point of learning where stuff is and that's the next on the list. I am trying to stay busy and stay out of this cabin. I feel better when I'm out of here. It has such sad vibes. But my house has good vibes. I know it sounds very 60s but I'm really sensitive to it.

So that's my report and it looks like I won't lose this message.

I suspect that picture may be at cafe du monde. Beignets and chicory coffee. So excited for them.

Lori, work went wild yesterday. Very long and stressful day. I can't wait for vacation.....

Peg, I hope the driveway works out. When does the work happen?

Kathie still crossing all body parts. I hope you have a beautiful mountain day today.

Good evening Team!
Per fb, our BERYL seems to have made it safe and sound!
Hope everyone is well. Spent the morning helping ex-hubs with his garden (should have been doing my own, I think). Pool is clear but cold and I still have some vacuuming to do.
DR SUE, there are heaters for above ground pools, but I would have to use propane and the heaters are quite expensive. Not in this year's budget with the driveway and all.
A good night to all.

Peg

Hello Team,

Dr. Sue, I would also be terrified to take the mule ride down. That ledge is so small, but I'm proud of you, that you did it. As far as your camp hummingbirds, you aren't there long enough for them to get to know you. It's funny, not haha, that you thought the hummingbird might poke your eye, because my Dd2 thought the ones I rescued and cuddled close to my chest would poke into my heart. The only thing about them, that scares me, is that the sound like huge bumblebees. So when I'm gardening, I have to make sure that it's them and not a bee. I can feel your fondness of Nola right through your posts. Also, of the Grand Canyon.

Kathie, I know that it is so frustrating waiting. Your heart is also going through so much. Just know that we are here for you and proud of your every achievement. When I post a long one I copy it just in case I lose it, then I can just paste it back. It has happened to us all emoticon

Beryl, score is right, I'm hoping that you get a wonderful sleep tonight, all be it shorter, so that you can have a wonderful first day in Nola. Do you post to us through your iPhone? I'm hoping for many FB pictures that I can share here with Dr. Sue. I'm so excited for you.

Nicky, I'm so sure that your DD is proud of you already, without having to hike with a heavy backpack. Now that DH is going with you, maybe he could do some of your lugging.

Peg, ok, good. I'm glad that you are getting the driveway done right. Sorry about the expense, tho. Enjoy your pastels today.

The x-Ray dud show that my hip joints are good, my lower back is showing arthritis which would explain the difficulty sitting anywhere. He gave me some cortisone injections into my back and into the muscles where my hip is hurting. I think I'm doing better today. As far as us moving, I'm gonna put that excitement on hold as it may take some time or not at all, sadly.

Heidi is doing ok, Dr. Sue. I'll tell her that you've asked about her.

~hugs, Lori

Sunny and beautiful here. Very busy at work. Got back on my spin bike this morning. Have hit my 15k steps. I have been eating well, tons of veggies from the farmers market. I'm feeling less bloated and generally more comfortable.

Peg, I'm with you I keep losing the same weight I've gained. I am feeling better that I hung in eating well in my own space while away, and got right back into my routine. Is there no way to heat your pool? I remember you barely got to use it last year. Enjoy pastels. How did the oil come out?

Kathie, I hate it when you lose a big post. I hope you and Annie got out to enjoy the weather. How is Charlie faring? It sounds like Samantha is settling in well.

Beryl, they have wine on the plane, you'll be fine. Have a wonderful trip.

Lori, I hope you are having a pain free day!

Nicky, yes I was saying to arrive at the south rim, have a nice dinner, stay in a nice room. There are several hotels and restaurants of varying cost and quality of foods. Then hike down camp a night, then up to the north rim. It is much wilder and more rustic than the south rim. You need to track the weather, because the north rim shuts in late oct, I believe. It is supposed to be steeper and higher elevation. They have hotels and cabins. Really worth doing. You do not have the lampooners on the north rim, and there are lots of interesting hikes. Then you take the shuttle back to the south rim which is a drive. You could jump start your trip home by leaving the grad canyon and stopping somewhere south of the Grand Canyon. I would highly recommend Flagstaff, college town, observatory, botanical gardens, cool old western hotels and good food. Or there is Sedona which is well worth a stop. Great hikes, GREAT restaurants. I've spent a fair bit of time so feel free to pick my brain, or even sparkmail me so I don't bore everyone else.

Off to next appointment.

I just lost a huge long post and I'm not up to typing it again.

Still no word on the title. WI and only up 0.2# which is a minor miracle.

I DO plan to go to Preservation Hall and I will certainly ask for that song, I promise!
Peg, yes, Dave Grohl did go there and make an album of the roots of music, and he found so many of them in NOLA. He seems like a great guy. He comes to Rehoboth Beach in Delaware every year and it's a game to see who sees him. I never do....
And that's exactly when I will relax--on the plane.

Good morning Team! Sunny and beautiful with two crazy rabbits running around the yard. Seem to have a bumper crop of chipmunks, too. I'm guessing whoever's cat "Rambo'd" the neighborhood is no longer here.
KATHIE, I never even mentioned your loss. NICKY is right...any and every loss is to be celebrated (even if, as in my case, it is the same poundage over and over and over). I didn't do the A.H. plan but am following it's principles for the most part. Feeling good, dropped some bloating and the cravings are not overpowering. May I add that it was quite difficult to uncross my body parts; they'd gotten used to the pretzel like position.
NICKY, I hear you about C.G., but I identify more with that menopause commercial. The lady talks about changes and body snatchers and asks "What did you do with MY body?".
I guess I confused the timing of SM trip with DD's trip. You're just on the go.
DR SUE, sorry about playing catch up back at work. And you're right, so much easier to just enter nutritional info from a label, but so much better for us to not eat that. Saw a posting on fb
Real food doesn't have ingredients. It is "ingredients". (or something like that...you get the idea)
I think during the making of Foo Fighters recent album they went to Preservation Hall, played with some local musicians (and recorded). Each track was recorded in a different state with great musicians from that area.
BERYL, yay on getting your boarding passes! I wouldn't be sleeping well either...not until I was safely on the plane and I didn't have to worry about everything being ready.
Hope your rheumy helped, LORI.
A good day to all. Pastels class this afternoon.

Good morning all. I was up a lot of the night worrying (what else is new?) about getting to work to log onto Southwest to get my boarding pass.
A39 and A40. SCORE!! Still have to get there and all....
I agree that any loss is good. I think for us, eating right is important too. We know how much better we feel when we eat healthy. Of course, the non healthy things taste SO DARN GOOD while we're eating or drinking them!
Took off Tuesday. Same sub will be here.
I am assuming I will have limited access in NOLA. I will be able to read everything, just probably not comment as I have a smart phone, but am not smart on it! lol
Off to pack meds for a field trip.

KATHIE, don't be silly. Any loss is a good loss.
I remain those 10-13 nasty pounds heavier than I want to be!! It's not my body; IT'S ME!!! I eat too much. I eat low carb, healthy whole foods. Can't take the Hungarian peasant out of the L.A. Woman.
It's driving me crazy that if I don't track, I go all lumberjack at the table. So why don't I track, especially considering my skorts are getting tight? COMPLACENCY. Chubby Girl has reared her ugly head. I HATE HER!!

BERYL, DRSUE has some great suggestions for your trip. One of the bars on Bourbon St. had a naked woman in a fish tank-----but that was a long time ago. She's probably all old and water logged by now.

You're brave to bring white slacks. I couldn't get out of the house without staining anything white. I wear only black shorts in the summer these days.

Again, the World War II Museum is one of the best in the country. DH might enjoy that. My dad was in the army and landed on Omaha Beach. He gained his citizenship there, so that era is special to me.

DRSUE, did you mean to spend the first night at South Rim, hike down, camp, and then spend night three at a motel on the North Rim? Isn't the North Rim steeper going up?
I'll need to spend the night at a motel both coming and going because it's a 9-hour drive back home. The shuttle that takes you from north to south goes only twice a day, and it looks like it takes 4 hours!! Good views, I'm sure.

I want DD to be proud of her ol' ma, so I'll bite the bullet and camp. She said she wants to make it a "glam" experience for me. I have no problem carrying a heavy pack or getting dirty. I just wish I had a nice shower and clean sheets each night.

I'm motivated to dump this extra weight by October. I'm also motivated to shed some before my trip with Step Mom at the end of June.
Did real well today. No nuts. No cheese.
Cathe Fredrich Push/Pull weights and a 3 mile walk with Gunther.

Good start to my Spa plans.

When you arise in the morning,

give thanks for the morning light, for your life and strength.

Give thanks for your food and the joy of living.

If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies in yourself.

Oh Beryl! In your travels down Bourbon st. You need to stop into Jean Lafitte's blacksmith tavern. It is one of the oldest pubs in the quarter. Still has gas light and a big piano bar. Qualification, it's been a while but I'm not thinking they would change much. I checked and it looked the same. I doubt it would be the same piano player. It was awesome, and we went year after year.

Lori and Nicky don't go to NOLA and have a hurricane (never did it) mojito ( got a tattoo) . New Orleans is awesome, so much to do. There is a lot of hardship and poverty and addiction there. The food music and events are so worthwhile. I found 5 days to be my max. I would go there again.

Beryl, also try to make it to Preservation Hall. Even if you don't love jazz, it is worth it to hear the best do their thing. Essentially, you come in the back and the longer you stay the more you can get close and sit on the floor. Long and short you could slip in, listen and slip out. If you go somewhere small like Lafitte's, would you do me a favor? Would you request "do you know what it is to miss New Orleans". I'd appreciate it.

I had a rough day. Re-entry has not been easy. Trying to pick up cases dropped by referral hospital, very unusual. Think it is this newer clinician. Came home freaked out. I did track today, did not spin as I had an 8am dentist appointment. It is interesting, I used to track at camp. The more I cook all non commercial foods. I can't easily track without wi fi.

Feeling a little defeated.

Yay for Peg being back! I'm glad you're getting the driveway all done and you won't have to worry about it again. Your garden sounds terrific!
DrSue, you were so active on your trip! All that hauling and lifting and everything.
Kathie, I am doing what our DrSue said--uncrossing my body parts (they were losing circulation in some of them), giving you a big old hug, then recrossing them. We're here.
DH is packing now. I am packing light, I'll say that. A few dresses for evening (summer dresses, not fancy), white capris and a few tops, and workout clothes. Done.
Need to figure out my jewelry and make up. the IMPORTANT STUFF!!

Good evening Team! I 'm baaack! Computer works great. Just caught up with all your posts.
LORI, They don't often use pavers here for driveways and when they do, it is very very expensive. I've opted to have paver #3 remove the old and start over. A lot of $, but I shouldn't have to worry about it again. Hummingbirds visit my feeders a lot. When I'm working in those perennial beds, they startle me. Glad the b'day party went well.
DR SUE, so glad your time away was enjoyable (if painting decks and hauling mulch can be considered enjoyable lol) Bald eagles are doing well around here, too, along the river and around the reservoir. Enjoy your night out.
BERYL, have a great trip! Looking forward to hearing all about it.
KATHIE, How annoying that the paperwork is still not in order. Know that we're thinking of you during the upcoming sad days. Glad you found another walking place and are enjoying the Y. The trainer I've started working with uses the TRX for a couple of things in my circuit. So far I'm enjoying getting back into the gym.
NICKY, I didn't realize that your trip was in Oct. For some reason I thought it was sooner. Sorry it's sounding less and less like fun.
Cleared out one of the garden beds and planted eggplant, cukes, bell peppers and jalapenos. Picked some arugula and red and green lettuce for my salads. Pool was opened Saturday evening and it's fairly clear now but terribly cold. This should be a good week for warm-up. Can't really set up the vacuum as I need to stay off the deck until its stained. It rained today so that puts that off for a coupe of days. Our scheduled garden visit as the raffle prize was cancelled for today due to the forecast of thunderstorms. If it were just rain, we would have done it anyway. Now we're trying to arrange another date. Mom is the same, no recent falls.
Wishing all a good evening.

Peg

Kathie, I'm not going to try and give you any advice or try and help with how you are feeling. I truly believe it is going to work out even if it takes time. You have some big sad reminders coming up, and no one can change what you are feeling or make it easier. What I can say is that we are here to hear you cry, complain, vent and laugh. You have come so far, and I KNOW Bill is proud of you. I'm proud of you too. I am uncrossing my arms for you to send a big hug. Will promptly cross them back with the rest of my body parts for luck for you.

Nicky, taking the mule to the bottom of the canyon was a terrifying experience. I loved it. I am not happy with heights, the trail is very narrow and you are a extra 4 feet above the rim. The mules are trained that when the train stops, they stop and turn to face over the edge. The reason is that the mule will not walk off the edge. If they were not looking into the abyss, they might back off. So, I had to trust that in the more than 150 years of mule trips a tourist has never been lost, and I the vet trusted my mule. I would take your trip in a heartbeat. I wished we could have stayed on the bottom for a full day of hiking. It was the original plan. Unfortunately they cancelled the 2 day mule trips, because the demand was so high for any trips. We booked 15 months out, it would make the wait 2years or more. One of the incredible experiences at the bottom of the canyon is that it is wild and natural. It is a national park, so hunting is illegal. The animals have no fear, we are just any other co-habitant. We had deer and wild turkeys walk right up to us. They are not trying to get food, they just have no fear of humans. I would recommend if you do rim to rim, take the night on the south rim, and after get a room on the north rim. They are so incredibly different. The other thing to make sure you find are the condors. So unbelievable. Perhaps you can do the one night camping on the bottom, then hike the north rim with a nice room and good food. Ok can you tell how much I miss it?

Beryl, I've already waxed prophetic about NOLA. For the good and bad of what happened there. I still want to go back post Katrina. I did go back after my brother's death. It was a good thing to do, but bittersweet. I hope your trip is wonderful.

Lori, I hope your hip is ok. I don't feel like my hummers love me. I think they feel I am their personal chef. I have been there in the early spring when my feeder was not out yet. I literally have had angry hummingbirds hover directly in front of my face where the feeder should be, I was afraid he was going to poke my eye out. I still love them though.

Peg, how is the garden going? How is your mom?

Beryl, I hope the kids calmed down. I think you need combat pay!

Hey is anyone keeping up with Heidi?

Have a great night.

Nicky, your spa story reminded me of a story line in the comic strip Cathy. Cathy went to a spa like that and where she mainly ate potassium broth and exercised all day long. She lost 4 or 5 pounds and was pleased until her boyfriend told her he gave us his second bowl of ice cream each night and lost 12 pounds. Can you just tell DD that you would rather do something that didn't involve camping? Just a thought. Can't help you with the Fitbit. I have the Flex. I do like it for its accuracy. I've found anything with GPS just burns through batteries.

BTW, no congrats are in order for the small loss. I still weigh more now than when I arrived. But I am off sugar and processed carbs and I'm doing OK with that.

Lori you are so cute with the hummingbirds. I do believe birds can recognize the people who feed them. And if you are in the garden a lot they are comfortable with you.

The TRX class is included with the membership here. There are no extra charges for any classes. The only things that would cost extra would be a personal trainer. Only 8 in the class which is nice. I did zumba this morning then took Annie for a walk. The instructor was OK. She was easy to follow and had good music.

I am NOT closing on June 2. That would have been the soonest date we could get IF the approvals came yesterday. They have not come yet and there is no time frame I can use for a countdown. If the title company does not accept the affidavit then it could take months.

I'm miserable. My wedding anniversary is Monday. Its a very sad day of course. And right up fast after that is the anniversary of Bill's death. Facing both of those days stuck in this little cabin is depressing.

DRSUE, you, an intelligent woman, obviously, took a mule to the bottom of Grand Canyon? That seems so civilized.
Now DH is talking about taking 3 days to hike, which means 2 nights of camping, a night at the motel before the hike, and I'm not about to finish the hike and then drive 9 hours home.
This is sounding more and more like not fun.

BERYL, are you flying Southwest? I'm very happy with them. It's a bit of a cattle car, but I always bring my own food any way.

Hello Team,

Dr. Sue, I love your hummingbird story. It was perfect timing as I just had filled my front porch feeder. I think my hummingbirds know my voice and have a sense of my presence. When, in my kitchen, they fly through my porch, chatter and when I tell DH to see, they don't appear. He loves them too, but it is I who spend so much time with my gardens that they know me.

Kathie, as Beryl said that is just next week. I'm glad that the bank, lawyers and realtors are staying in touch.

Beryl, South West is so casual with luggage. I can take a duffle bag, a backpack and a purse onboard. They, also, don't charge for luggage, not carry on, I believe. Wow, it's getting so close.

Peg, how did the master gardener's event go? Or, is it in the nearby future?

Nicky, I believe your hummingbirds know and love you as much as mine love me. I, also, don't drink very much, I'm a lightweight.

I'm going to see my Rheumatologist and going to ask for an x-ray of my hip as it has been way too painful this past month.

~hugs, Lori

DRSUE, so happy your getting away seems to have renewed you!
I have humming birds all year long, and they absolutely delight me. The come to a powder puff bottlebrush bush right outside my second story bathroom window, eye level.
The Grand Canyon hike is supposed to be October 3, I think DD said. There's no way to get into the cabins, but the camp ground isn't primitive, so I'm fine with that for one night.

When I turned 40, I spent a week at a no-frills spa, The Oaks at Ojai. Yes, there were massages and facials, but they were all a la carte, NOT like Canyon Ranch. It's a place for serious fitness people. Back then it was 750 calories a day, dawn 3-mile hill hikes, exercise classes, a movie with ONE CUP of popcorn, bed, repeat. If I could finish that, Grand Canyon should be a snap. emoticon emoticon

LORI, good for you that you participated in the 21 party and family get together. I'm with you. Never understood shots...............I drink from the bottle. emoticon
(Just kidding. I don't drink)

KATHIE, congrats on the weight shedding! Yay!! It's the re-arranging of brain chemicals that is so difficult to get just right so that there are no cravings. Brain chemicals are moving targets.
I got totally off track this past month or two and haven't "cared" so much about the amount I ate. COMPLACENCY with a bit of sadness thrown in.

BERYL, what are you packing for your trip? Mostly pants or jeans or skirts?
I get crazy with the airline regulations; HOWEVER, the only time I checked luggage that I can remember is when we went to visit DD in Portugal, the Azores, when she was in the Air Force.
Carryon very restricted on International flights, but I did manage to get two-days' worth of clothes in it. Of course, they lost our luggage, and DH, who laughed at me and my carry on, had to buy extra clothes in the Azores. Lesson learned. Cautionary tale.

PEG, what is the benefit of resurfacing the drive? If you didn't dig it up and get the drainage corrected, would it need to be resurfaced again in a couple of years at more expense?
Sound off here and weigh in the differences. We can be your advisors and counsel! Free advice can sometimes be worth every penny. emoticon

DD gave me a Garmin VivosmartHR wrist monitor for my birthday!! All those bells and whistles. Honestly, I would have been happy with a Fitbit, but I guess she wanted me to have the GPS feature. It's supposed to last for 5 days, but I get two if I'm lucky. I've turned off some notifications and dimmed the back light.
How many days do those of you who have themget on a charge with the fitbitHR?
The calorie burn doesn't seem to be accurate, either---way too high, almost 2X higher than it should be on my walks/hikes

I believe you can bring one carry on and one personal item on board. It has to fit in the overhead compartment, so that can vary by size of plane. I took an LL bean backpack and my satchel, which holds my iPod and rest of my "purse" stuff.

Kathie, it is cold and rainy here. I'm jealous of your weather. However, it sounds like mid 80's tomorrow. I hate this flip-flopping from winter to summer and back, with an occasional spring day. Did I tell you guys this fist Wed of vacation was 80 degrees then by Sunday we had snow? I've done TRX, and found it frustrating. It was part of the ski conditioning classes I took.

Good morning everyone. Sunny and gorgeous now, but supposed to--wait for it--RAIN later! But tomorrow is going to be 85 and sunny! No rain at all!
Kathie the Y does offer TRX, but it's actually a class you have to pay for because it's a small class. I've done it once and it's HARD!! I bet you're sore. Good for you.
BTW--June 2 is next week......
Donating blood after school today, then hitting the gym. I have muscle pump tonight but not thinking it's smart not even 2 hours after donating. I'll see. Then I HAVE to pack. DH thinks he can bring a gym bag onboard for South west. Anyone know the answer??
Kids can't come in fast enough today. Seniors are done, so it's only 3 grades, but they're making up for it!
Have a good day ladies

Wow Beryl, that's quite a storm. Sound like the level of destruction from a tornado. Wow, Ari is a little omnivore. How adorable.

DrSue you sound rejuvenated and renewed. So glad you had a wonderful vacation. And yes that is exactly what went through my mind when you talked about stacking wood. Aren't the eagles something? I saw them regularly up north and a sighting always gave me a thrill. I don't know their range. I need to look that up. Cool that the hummingbirds are back. I miss mine. Next year.

Lori, I must be sheltered too because I've never done shots. I don't drink "hard likker", only beer or wine. I would probably be on my a**. I love paving stones and I'll let Peg answer but I know in Michigan they are impractical for driveways because of the constant thaw/freeze.

Another gorgeous day here. Sunny and on the chilly side this morning but headed for 80. I love that.

Tried TRX yesterday and it was awesome. Beryl does your Y offer it? Its suspension strength training using straps with handles. It uses your body weight and how and where you stand dictates how much weight. So you stay in one place and simply change positions and the length of the strap rather moving from machine to machine (and waiting your turn and wiping it down). Its a class led by an instructor so you just follow along and enjoy the music while you are at it. They have 8 stations and the instructor makes sure you are doing it correctly. I am a little sore today--mostly my wrists and hamstrings. I am ordering a hand strengthen (cheap things you squeeze) and getting some gloves for better gripping. But I really, really like it.

My attorney thought she might have some news for me yesterday but no. Today I hope. My mortgage banker & attorney talked yesterday so everyone is in the loop and I am less worried about the loan. Even if I get the OK today June 2 is the earliest day I can close.

Hi everyone. OMG, we had a storm to end all storms. Huge trees upended by their roots everywhere. Huge trees slit down the middle. I never saw anything like it outside of a hurricane. Didn't last long but it was fierce.
DrSue, you got so much done! Enjoy tonight. Those eagles sound incredible. I've never seen one outside of the zoo.
Kathie, you ARE a survivor and your new home is in sight and you'll be there before long. Then we can all come visit!
Lori, never had a shot?? No tequila? You are a sheltered one! The one you had sounds delicious!
Peg, how was the estimate today? How is your mother doing?
The kids were so cute tonight. Ari ate everything in sight. He had quinoa, lemon gelato, salmon cake, rasperries, blueberries, french fries, some turkey burger, and some cornbread. This was after eating dinner at home! His little belly was so fat! I loved it. I've never seen him eat like that before.
Off to pack my lunch and breakfast for work.
Have a good one ladies.

Lori, I have a hummingbird feeder at the lake. The birds come back every year. I filled it and hung it before I left in April. When I arrived I asked mom if the birds were back. She said no. But the next day, I made my lunch and sat on my kitchen deck, mom came around. As we were talking, I said, "I believe the first humming bird just arrived". He perched on a branch for a long time, then went to the feeder and perched drinking for several min. He was moving slow, but man by the time I left, there were many of them dive bombing me and each other. I had to fill the feeder twice. So cool. I also saw 2 mature bald eagles- I think I said that. It is amazing that they were on the brink of extinction. I never saw an eagle as a kid. Now they are not an uncommon sighting, and I know where three nests are, so I can always cheat this time of year because they are nesting.

Hello Team,

DH and I drove up to Fresno, early Saturday and got home early evening yesterday. OMG, there were at least 50 of us attending my DSiL's little sister's 21st bday. It was a surprise and it was just glorious. I love seeing all the family get togethers. The support they all have for one another is so completely foreign to me and overwhelming on a good way. They were serving free flowing rum punch, vodka with punch, and shots. I'm 59 and NEVER had a shot. Dd1 said Mom come and do a birthday shot, I ignored her and began to eat my dinner, but she insisted, so I went to the host's bar, he was already sloshed, and he put frosting and sprinkles around the top of each glass. He put some type of alcohol, called birthday something or other and then shook them and poured into our glasses. I watched my Dd1 down it, and the the others too. So I tried and got 1/2 down and then finished it. Dd1 said good job Mom? I went to finish my dinner, and all of a sudden, I felt so light headed and higher than a kite. I could Not stand up even if I wanted to. I decided to not drink anything else but water the rest of the night. Now watching my daughter and DSiL down so much alcohol along with everyone else, including my DH, was surreal. I know that I've been called a goody good for most of my life and that night I felt like one. I drove the babies and DH home, got everyone in bed and awaited a phone call from Dd1 to come and pick them up, if needed. I wanted to post to my team then but simply had No energy.

We are now back home. DH is home sick today, from a bad cold and I am relaxing with Henry on my lap and a cup of coffee.

Kathie, what an awesome idea to use your new home as your profile pic. Soon it will be where you are living.

Beryl, DH and I have found parking at nearby hotels with shuttles as alternatives to family or friends driving us to the airport, sometimes too. It's so exciting, this Thursday. I hope that you have a great night's sleep tonight.

Peg, have you ever thought of paving stones instead of blacktop? I'm not sure if they have that out there but it adds to the beauty of your home. I, agree, volunteering your time and labor for the Gardening cause is fantastic. I put a hummingbird feeder on my porch, in the raised bed. I have hummingbirds flying inside and through my porch when they see me in the kitchen. I just adore them.

Dr. Sue, we bumped posted. I'm so happy that you had a good, yet not relaxing time. I wanted to grow some Columbine and have tried. So good to have you home.

I'll sign off and hope I didn't ramble too much, ~hugs, Lori

Hello team! I left camp at 6:15 this morning. Was home by 11:30 had lunch and walked to work. A beautiful day here! I had a good time away. I know I'm up some, but on my own I was mindful of my eating. When with mom and dad the snacks hit the fan. So, I should rebound. I saw tons of birds, a mama fox with two kits, 2 bald eagles, and a bear. I power washed my decks and went through 10 gallons of stain, and am not quite done. I also stacked a cord of firewood, went running and walking weather permitting. I hit the farmers market each Sunday, so I have had boundless veggies. I bought a huge tomato plant for $10! I really mean huge.

Beryl, I am so excited for you. Of course, I love the aquarium and the zoo. You can get multipacks of passes. So, you can do the aquarium, take a paddle boat upriver to the zoo, and back. There are all kinds of combos. Have an excellent trip.

Kathie, I am all crossed for you. It will workout, banks are used to this. I know you want it yesterday, but you have come so far. I'm glad the new food plan is working out. Didn't you smile at my stacking a cord of wood? You thought, thank heavens I never have to do that again, didn't you? emoticon

Peg, I hope you find a good paver for a decent price. Lots of good dirt therapy too. I cleaned up and mulched my "gardens" at camp. That was moving more than 1000 lbs of mulch and spreading it. It is an improvement. My lilacs that I planted from shoots 6 or more years ago are in bloom for the first time. I was very happy about that. The wild columbine is in bloom too.

Nicky, when is your Grand Canyon adventure? I'm jealous. You could look into a cabin in Phantom ranch at the bottom. When I rode the mule down we stayed there, it was awesome. You do need to book like a year or more in advance. It is worth the camping to be down there. If you stay at the campground I believe you still have access to some of the facilities. Hot shower, flush toilet, and I know they have more than one seating in the mess hall. Check it out. The food is hearty, plentiful and family style. Good luck with your trip with SM, and working NM in too. You are a brave woman.

Lori, I hope things work out with DH and the job. I was confused, I thought the move got you closer to family, not further away. It's wonderful, that if you put in roses, you can take them with you.

I am off to see my next appointment. Then out for a cocktail with the girls, it's my BF's birthday. An early night for me. Surgery in the am. Was I gone for 2 weeks?

Good morning team. Heavy rain overnight but its cleaning up here. I see sun and blue skies. Seems to be the pattern. That's my kind of rain. Its always quite chilly early and it cools off quickly again when the sun sets. Mountain weather? That's why summers here are so nice I guess.

Beryl, I get nervous when I fly too and it goes right to my stomach. I had trouble sleeping last night so I must have been worrying for you. I don't know about your airport but when we used to have early flights we would book an airport motel with free parking & a shuttle. It was way cheaper than a cab or airport parking and a lot less stress. May be too late for you to consider but we found it worked well especially when we traveled in the winter.

Yes, I went to zumba yesterday afternoon and I love this instructor. She only teaches at this center once a week but since Sundays are always tough days for me now the option of a zumba class is a good things. Annie & I also walked around the lake and it was very peaceful. This morning I am trying TRX and will report back on how that went.

My realtor had a email from the attorney this morning saying she would try have more info on the title situation today. Please cross all body parts, send up prayers, ask for positive energy--anything you can send will help. The stress is getting to me. I tried to work on the homework project yesterday and it did not go well. Will hit it again after the gym. So I cleaned but you can't tell the difference. What a dump.

But I'm here. And I found a house I love. And I love this part of town, And I am a survivor.

I stayed on the Always Hungry regime for a week. I am down 2 and .5" off my waist. Now, the 2 are pounds I gained right before I started but at least I have reversed the process. The cravings have calmed down and are essentially gone. I have never gone a week without carbs like bread, pasta, etc. I lived for my carbs but amazingly I don't miss them yet. I'm guessing that the inclusion of a small amount legumes is taking care of that. So another week of the same and no wine yet. I miss it slightly but again less that I thought I would. I downloaded My Fitness Tracker so I can plan my meals and check that my ration of fat/protein/carbs is where it is supposed to be this week. So I'm tracking rather than following the supplied menu plan. I can't eat (or cook in the case of fish) some of the foods on it but there are plenty of low carb recipes around.

I'm babbling. Sorry.

Wishing my team a great week.

Good Monday morning team. Cloudy but NO RAIN YET. I may be premature there I fear.
Up all night worrying about the plane, what to pack, and the time. DD would have to get us there at 4:45 to be 2 hours early. I cant' ask her to do that, which means a taxi for a half hour ride. Yikes. We'll see. The good thing is my stomach doesn't react well to stress which may mean a loss?! That whole half empty/half full thing!
Kathie, I hope you got out yesterday. And hear some good news today.
Peg, what's on your schedule this week?
Lori, how about yours?
DrSue, hope you're enjoying!

Peg, I fully understand the dynamics of solo decision making. I don't think I will ever get used to it. Hope your computer gets straightened out quickly. If you had a smart phone (hint hint) you would still be able to communicate. It felt like a big step when I made the switch but I have not regretted it.

Beryl, wow Thursday! If you decide to take the horse drawn carriage ride and if your driver is named Jeff ask him if he's from Michigan. If he says yes then tell him you know his neighbor across the lake.

Lori, thanks for the prayers. From your lips to His ear. I keep hoping I will get the call that says I am good to close. I am so ready to move.

A mix of sun & clouds right now. Cooler but warming up. Probably a good time to walk with Annie. There's a pretty lake on the north side of Ashevile I've been wanting to walk around but there's so little parking. I've tried twice and not been able to find a place, Coming home from church I saw a restaurant parking lot I could use--there's a sidewalk all the way to the lake. Its worth a try. A change of scenery is always nice. Might go to zumba later. Any excuse to get out of the cabin.

Hi team. Waiting DH to be done so we can go meet DB and DSIL for dinner. Yes, they're still together but only because he hasn't decided. Sure he has. He just is too lazy to do anything. He's plucking my last nerve. Complained before because they were stagnant and didn't talk, now whining all they do is talk about their issues. UGH! And I am Switzerland.
Kathie, looked up the preboarding TSA stuff and I'm too late, it would appear. I think you have to do that before buying your tickets. Good to know, thank you!
Yes, it's Thursday Peg. I will let ALL of you live vicariously through me! Can you talk to someone about negotiating the price for the dig out and doing the whole thing so that's one thing you don't have to worry about any more? I'd think they'd be happy to negotiate a lower price point to be assured a job? Can't hurt to ask.
Raining again. I am SO OVER THIS!!!

Good evening Team!
BERYL, this Thursday? omg! I knew it was close, but not THIS close...I will live vicariously through you...hope you don't mind...
KATHIE, glad you are away from the edge. Amazing (and not in a good way) that those who should have a very vested interest in seeing this close, appear to be not so concerned. Sit back in your shabby (but temporary) digs, hug your furries and hold on.
Paving guy #3 came and of course he's in the middle of the other two. Now is when being solo sucks. What to do? Do I go with capping my existing driveway and walkway or do I go for the digging out the old and putting in a totally new one which nearly doubles the price, but gets rid of any existing problems like drainage, etc.? If I go with capping, will I regret it in a couple of years when we have real winters again with freezing and thawing and freezing and thawing...I could do the dig out thing but that would eat most of my paltry savings...what to do...what to do......
ok, guys, having a glass of wine and not thinking about it anymore until tomorrow...(channeling Scarlett O'Hara) lol

Beryl, so exciting about your trip. And you are so organized. Did you register for the per-approved TSA thing? I did that a few years ago and you just sail through. I understand about dresses and the bust. I am not as busty but really the only dress I could ever wear well was the knock-off the the Diane vonFurstenberg wrap. I loved that style.

Thanks Peg. I just stepped away from the ledge. Hope you got a better quote from door #3. How nice of the Master Gardeners (you of course) to volunteer your time to raise funds for the group.

Lori good that you can keep any roses you buy. Hope the new faucet works. After 4 times its time for him to admit its broken.

Nicky, you are a saint with Step Mom. I don't know how you keep doing it. I don't leave the house with (at least) tinted moisturizer, blush, lipstick and mascara. Takes all of a minute to apply and I feel better with it. Anyway the moisturizer has a good SPF.

Let me see if I can answer questions.

No word back from the attorney after she submitted the affidavit to the title insurance company. Its possible they will accept it and issue the title insurance. The lawyers for the seller and the one who handled the foreclosure 8 years ago are doing a lot of finger pointing and excuse making. I am not a party to that transaction so there is little my atty can do but push. You would think the sellers would want the sales to go through (mine and the other end unit).

Moving is not an option. I need to be short term so no lease. I have 3 pets and a budget. So I am stuck and probably should be grateful but I haven't lived in a place this shabby since I was 22 yrs old and living on the edge of the Haight in San Francisco.

I am 3.7 miles from my townhouse. so when I move I will be able to take the stuff that's in the house. The movers will take what is in the storage unit which is on the same property but accessed by a different driveway. I can see it from this window.

BTW, the townhouse is 2.3 mile from the YMCA. I joined yesterday. And its about the same distance from the cool yoga place in case I need a dose of warm yoga. The Y offers yoga but I haven't tried it there yet.

I'm still doing the Always Hungry plan and I am not hungry and not tormented by cravings. When one comes it goes again pretty quickly. I've lost a little but its really what I had gained the few days before I stated the program. I was way out of control with bad carbs and sugar. I am off sugar though it allows 1 oz. of 70% dark chocolate a day. And I have that most nights though a little less than an once because of the way the bar is sectioned. And for once its enough. Go figure.

Dr Sue hope spring found you and the 2nd week of vacation was awesome.

Good Saturday team. Gray and raining. So what else is new? I did see some peeks of blue sky, but they're gone.
Down .2 at WI. I'll take it. Did barre today and am feeling it. Ran some errands to pick up a few things for our trip. Coming up so fast! I have everything booked--dinners, tours, museums. Have coupons for most things. Went online and read things to find restaurants and music venues. Can't wait! Although with the TSA issues , not feeling good about flying on Thursday at 6:45 am. DD said she'll put some APP on her phone that will let her assess the times so we can figure out how long we'll need to be there.
Kathie, I hope things are looking a little better today. Did you hear anything? I agree with Peg--banks must have something in place for delays of paperwork. I may have asked before, but how far away is your new home from this place?
Bought 2 new bras today at the bra store with a gift card DH gave me for Hanukkah. The cost is not to be believed! Yikes! And (TMI) I'm a DDD or a E, but only a 32 (really a 31, she said) and they don't make them that small (did I just use that word?) for busty ladies. There's a reason I can never wear dresses!!
Off to finish my salad and begin my nap.
Enjoy today ladies.

Good morning Team! Cloudy and gray. Showers tonight...maybe. Off to the farmers' market and then to pick up critter food...cat, dog and birds :-) Then to wait for paving guy #3 and more dirt therapy. Maybe even some mowing as the lawn has grown very fast. Clearing out a new garden for dahlias is also on my list. At Garden day there was a raffle for 3 master gardeners to come to your home for 2 hours to work in your garden...planning, weeding, pruning, planting, etc. I am on the botanical team so Tues. afternoon I will go with two other MGs to work in the winner's garden. Guess that's why I want to get mine done; don't want to be working in someone else's thinking I should be in my own. Dinner last night was very enjoyable.
Hope everyone has a good day.
KATHIE, step away from the edge! This will all work out as planned. This is not the first time a closing has been delayed and banks certainly have a process in place to deal with it.

Hello Team,

Nicky, I know you love hiking, it was the camping part I was trying to refer to. I'd love to hike the Grand Canyon with my husband, too. Nice and slow, tho. I was up at 8:00 to greet the plumber. He will replace my whole faucet now that his 4x fix did Not work. The landscaper, HOA, had to cancel today. It's ok by me, yet we had a very lovely conversation about Roses. He turned me on to All American Award roses, and I've been finding some beautiful and fragrant roses. He to,d me that since I'm paying for the roses I can easily take them with me, should we move. A win-win, wonderful surprise for me.

Kathie, I was afraid that you would fall into depression again, but hoping that the light at the end of this long tunnel, would maybe keep you out of it. I am praying for you tonight, as I light the Shabot candles.

Beryl, I'm so glad that is over. I'm glad, also, that that gigantor, roach was at work and not at home.

Peg, yikes, so much $$$. Keep on looking, hopefully you'll find a cheaper one. I'm sorry that the dirt therapy was Work therapy instead. Please go out and get yourself a smart phone, being disconnected is not good, and now is an excellent reason to do so.

Hello Dr. Sue, I hope that you are having a great time.

~hugs, Lori

Oh Kathie, I do hope this gets resolved. Soon. Like yesterday. I am sorry the place is a dump. Don't know if those are your words or I'm paraphrasing. I'm glad you're getting out and exploring and finding things to do around there, and through them you'll meet more new people.
Lori rest today!
Peg, I know we always have groupons and things for repaving. Our driveway in the back is disgraceful. We share it iwth the lady nextdoor but she hasn't moved in yet and the last owners didn't care. I do when I look out, but so far we've done nothing yet.
Nicky, have I told you lately how much I LOVE YOU??!! I love your attitude and your spunk (Mary Tyler Moore anyone?) and your perspective on things that help, at least me, keep things where they need to be. I'd have slit my throat between the continual repetition and the forgetfulness. Will you still go now?
Still sunny out!! Love it!

KATHIE, if this weren't a Vent-Alll-You-Need-To-Zone, I don't know what I'd do! I'd be curled up in a ball in a corner somewhere rocking back and forth.

I'm pretty sure loans get extended in this sort of situation.
Is there a possibility you could rent the new home in the interim?
If that's not possible, you simply can't allow yourself to sink into depression. Not worth it!!
This IS your new life, so please try to laugh off most of this awful inconvenience. It's going to be yet another interesting chapter in your book that you simply MUST write.

PEG, I'll bet you're learning more about driveway paving than you ever wanted to know. I never cease to be shocked at how much household services charge. I need to get estimates for these windows and am, frankly, afraid to do so. I figure we may be here for another 10 years or so, but it's a HUGE (by 1970s standards) two-story house, and DH is older than I am by a good many years. But, what if we're here for 20 years? I'll think about all that tomorrow. . . . .

LORI, you may remember that hiking is my absolute favorite thing to do in the whole wide world. DD knows I don't enjoy "camping." She recently bought a gently used little camper trailer that is the cutest little dollhouse, but I wouldn't camp in that, either. She thinks I'll enjoy the backpacking experience for one night because it has changed so much since my camping days. Not my idea of a fabulous time, but that's what we'll have to do if I want to get to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, I guess.

I give myself a better mani/pedi than any manicure place, IMO. My nails grow so fast that I have to file them just about every day. I buff them every day, too, including toes. I got the mani/pedi/massage a couple years ago on my birthday, and the Vietnamese manicurist said I have "young feet." It's my claim to fame. emoticon

BERYL, how do you cut up the jicama and radishes? finger foods that you dip in green salsa, or mix it all up, or how? Mixing radishes with jicama would give it much more zip. Do you make the salsa or get a brand? I will definitely try it.

Step Mom was "almost" ready when I arrived yesterday morning. I wanted to get to the bank for the notary before the lunch crowd. We went to two of her banks, and neither one would notarized a document. They don't do it any more. Don't get me started on the lack of service at banks, those banks who want your money, for sure, but charge now for EVERYTHING!!
My bank charged $20 as a monthly service fee because my checking account went under $3000. It's a new policy. They charge ME to use MY MONEY!!!
Got that off my chest.

SM put her culottes on backward and didn't notice until we got to the mani-pedi place.
Stopped counting how many times she repeated herself.
She had the wrong dates for our trip marked on her calendar.

I'm going to walk out into the sunset.

When you arise in the morning,

give thanks for the morning light, for your life and strength.

Give thanks for your food and the joy of living.

If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies in yourself.

Good morning team. Sounds like we all have some sort of yuck in our lives. Glad you all have some good times mixed in.

No progress and since we are past the date needed for the closing to happen on time I am not sure what's going to happen with my loan approval or anything else. I am down and headed down the slippery slope to depression. This place is a dump. The floors are all slanted so if I put anything down it rolls or slides onto the floor. Makes it hard to prepare meals because there is NO counter space. Seriously. Cracked walls, cracked sink, floors so worn and stained that I can't tell the dirt from the stains when I try to vacuum. And its crammed full of oversized uncomfortable furniture. There's a nasty futon in the tiny living room that along with a a big heavy coffee table that takes up nearly all the space I'm going to break my neck trying to walk around Charlie. I wake up with a backache but at least it goes away when I move. And I'm on a highway so I can't just go for a walk without driving into town.

Thanks I needed to vent. I am here. Sooner or later things will work out but I have been through nearly 2 years of h*ll and I want to start living. I'm heading into two tough, emotional weeks. If these animal weren't chaining me to this place I'd get out of here and have a little vacation. I haven't been on a vacation in years.

I like the Y and will join. I signed up for a hike tomorrow but the weather is not promising.

I should walk Annie before it rains.

Good morning Team!
LORI, sounds like a great evening, minus the DVR glitch and faucet dripping.
BERYL, glad you survived the party. I can relate to the feeling. When I first started at the courts there was one woman who was particularly mean (promotion issues) and when she decided to retire I was the one chosen to plan it. what??!! First of all, I'm not a party planner and secondly, did I mention she was MEAN? to me? I was so glad when it was over. Dead roach...yuck! Saw too many of them when I lived in FL.
The second paving estimate was even more than what I thought was an outrageous first one. Have another guy coming tomorrow afternoon.
My "dirt therapy" turned into reclaiming parts of the driveway from encroaching lawn. Turned out to be a couple of hours of hard labor and I was done after that. Today's painting class was cancelled so I'll work in the garden. The pool guys never showed. Called around 6 p.m. to let me know they wouldn't make it. Maybe tomorrow or Sunday. And on Sunday someone is picking up my computer to see if he can straighten it out. I'll be out of touch with the world at least until Monday night and maybe longer, depending on the problem. People coming and going at all different times and days is kind of making me nuts.
Going out to dinner tonight with neighbors and ex-hubs. His wife is in MD for a baby shower and I guess he wants to go out with "the old gang"...whatever, it will be nice to go out to dinner. Did I mention that she "made" him give away his dog? Honestly, I think the dog has a much better life now, but really, complain and yell and carry on until a new home is found? Channeling my inner BERYL, "not my circus..."
Wishing all a great day!

Peg

TGIF team! The sun is out and it's going to be lovely today! Starting tonight and most of the weekend....not so much. But today is lovely.
Retirement party was fun. Exhausting. It made for a very, very long day. Not to mention how starving I was when I got home. Didn't eat there--sliders, pasta, and cake wouldn't have been good options for me. But 2 glasses of wine were! lol
Came in to a giant roach on its back--dead I guess. UGH. Called the principal to come get it. lol. He didn't realize that was in his job description!
Ant guy coming again today cause I killed a couple around the sink again. The rain brings them back and I'm not paying and having them back, so he'll be coming again after school. Unsure if I"ll do zumba because I don't know if the bad instructor will be back. I may just go for a walk. We'll see.
Off to start my day. Have a good one ladies.

Good evening Team,

Wow, yesterday was a great one and became quite an excursion. I went to pick up DGS and take him home. It was my second time in DS's much more shapely than chic housing. I did ok, I was less intimidated. When it was time for dinner, he, Dgs and I took the light rail to dinner. The evening was delicious and the walking was plenty. I stopped at Dd2's for a short visit then got home around 11:15pm. Yes I was exhausted, in pain but happy. I. Amen home to find out that the little glitch in my DVR was a big glitch, tomorrow I should have a new one. The plumber will be coming back tomorrow, too, for the 4th time, kitchen faucet drip.

Nicky, does your DD realize that you are not into all of that? I love that she includes you on her desired get-a-ways, but I. With Beryl, mani-LEDs and a movie are in my league too.

Peg, dirt therapy?, so wonderful. I hope the paving quote is reasonable.

Beryl, sorry about your not enjoying the retirement party planning.

Kathie, anything new with the papers?

Dr. Sue, is the weather good yet?

~hugs to my team, Lori

Good -it's finally sunny!-Thursday!
Peg, good idea with the referrals. I hope you get outside to do some dirt therapy today! Enjoy!
Surprise party for our retiring lead nurse tonight. Way too much drama, I'm totally over it,and will be glad when this is all over. How bad that's how we all feel. There's 4 of us planning it.
Nicky, I agree with Peg. You are a saint taking stepm on a trip. PLUS going to see OM!! You're amazing. And that hiking/camping trip with DD. What happened to mani/pedis?? lol Or a show and lunch? Or maybe that's just me and my daughters??
Eating my snack of radishes and jicama (my new favorite thing) with green tomatillo salsa. Enjoying myself! Inputting blood sugars while doing so.
Have a good day ladies emoticon

Good morning Team!
Dirt therapy and waiting for paver #2 are on today's agenda.
NICKY, the first guy is a referral by the guys who do some work around my house. The others were suggestions from a neighbor who looked them up on Angie's list. The trip with DD will be fun. You are a brave and kind soul to take stepmom on a trip. I hardly ever wear makeup of any kind...my neighbors are used to being frightened, I guess.
KATHIE, I am so happy that the Ys are close by. Not so happy about the closing issues. It will happen and like most things, the universe has its own timetable, oblivious to what we want.
BERYL, how cool that a disappointment turned into a better plan! I'm excited your trip is coming up soon.
LORI, as I mentioned before, the universe has it's own timetable. If this move should happen it will; if it doesn't, then there is something better waiting for you.
DR SUE, hope you're enjoying your camp time. You're there for two weeks, right?
Took Melinda for a follow-up yesterday and she's doing ok. Gained some weight in the past month, from a scrawny 3lbs, 11oz to a little less scrawny 4lbs 6oz. Hoping she keeps going in the right direction.
Wishing a good day to all.

Peg

PEG, did you get referrals for the pavers or just out of ads? I need new windows in half of the house and hear ads on the radio, but there has to be a better way. People around here are VERY wealthy, and I imagine they just call their contractor who did their 15,000-square remodel three years ago. My village has turned into a snobby nouveau riche zoo.

BERYL, I'm so excited for you; NOLA is battening down the hatches in wait for Hurricane BERYL!

LORI, I love this weather. It was actually a little cool this morning when I went on my uphill walk.

DRSUE, nothing worse than a bored Dobe! Hope you can get the rest of the deck stained before it's time to come back. How long are you staying this time?

Well, DD is planning our annual trip for an October backpack overnight trip (yuk). She wants to do the Grand Canyon Rim-to-Rim hike. It's 14 miles down, over night, and then 9.8 miles up the other side the next day. I don't have backpacking equipment any more, so I'll borrow, but DD has all the streamlined stuff, so we can have a hot dinner and sleep in a tent.

I wear mascara, concealer, and blush every day except when I'm really sick. Facing the world with no makeup is going to be the hardest part.

KATHIE, please, please don't be depressed. It is what it is. Out of your control. In due time. I can sense your gratitude, though, when you speak of the lovely weather and beautiful surroundings.
How cool that you'll have the Ys so close. Any minute now you'll have a bunch of new friends, too.
In the grand scheme of things, it's a great time for you. Your angels are having a bit of fun with you, those scamps.

Taking step mom tomorrow on her errands and to get a pedicure. I've offered to take her on a mini trip at the end of June. We'll drive up the coast and visit with 'nother mother and then spend a day or two in San Luis Obispo, Morro Bay, and maybe as far as San Simeon. We'll see how she fares. I will insist on separate rooms, though. I'll gladly pay for both. I'll get her a handicapped room so she can shower with ease. I can't handle all that chatter. There is never still air when with step mom.

When you arise in the morning,

give thanks for the morning light, for your life and strength.

Give thanks for your food and the joy of living.

If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies in yourself.

Hello Team,

Kathie, this has got to happen, I'm guessing that your realtor is on the lawyer with lots of pressure. I'm sorry for all this stress and now depression, again. I'm glad that you're enjoying the new diet. My kitties are all over my laptop. I think all felines are drawn to them. Lots of funny FB videos all about that. My laptop is doing fine, it was the Uverse dvr and router needing rebooting. My laptop is 2+ Years old. I'm so proud of you for going to the Y.

Beryl, we have no idea about when or even if this job change will happen. I'm trying to push DH, gently, to gently keep in touch with the HR woman who is, ultimately, the one who can make this happen. I'm trying to stay positive and believe that G-d will make this happen if it is His plan. I'm sorry that the Nola plans were changed but it now sounds even better.

Peg, I hope that you can find a reasonable paver. You will be able to fix your wi-fi settings, as you are a champ now. My 10 year old Prius passed the smog test, yay. Now I hope she lives, at least as long as your VW. I need her. Enjoy your pastels.

Dr. Sue, I hope that you are enjoying camp. Nicky, are you enjoying our, extremely, odd weather?

Today I will go pick up my Dgs and see my son, dear grand kitties, too. Then I will stop at Dd2's and visit my other dear grand kitty, so a busy day for me.

~hugs to my team, Lori

Today started out real pretty but is clouding up a bit. Warm. Pleasant. I took advantage of a free 3 day pass for the Y today. Did Zumba and really liked the instructor. Will go back tomorrow for Zumba and Functional Strength. Pretty decent class offerings at the branch nearest my house and the larger downtown branch ins about 5 minutes past there so I may check that out on Friday. Definitely like the north side of Asheville.. Close to downtown and the traffic is not horrible.

Day 3 of AH (Always Hungry) Phase I and I am shocked to find my cravings have gone away. The meals are ample and healthy. And they taste good. I knew I could not eat eggs before Zumba this morning. I love an omelet for lunch or dinner but have a tough time with eggs in the a.m. Tried the protein shake (milk, cream, PB, protein powder, frozen berries) and OMG it was good and I was fine until noon--that's with Zumba plus a walk (11,000 + steps). The meal plan as outlined in the book is too much work for one person but I just make the recipe and eat the leftovers until they are gone. At least I can be in control of my eating.

No news from the lawyers. If its not settled by tomorrow my closing will be delayed. emoticon

Beryl, glad you were able to find even a better cocktail walk. And congrats to your district for passing the millage (I am guessing it was millage).

Peg, good news about your car. Too bad opening the pool brings cold weather. I know how that works. Good luck with the paving estimates.

Lori is your computer system down again? I am on a 9 year old laptop here. Samantha likes to sleep on it and she moves around and messes up all the settings. I just hope she doesn't break it before I move. I have a decent computer but like most of the rest of my belongings its in storage.

Hi DrSue, hope your vacation is relaxing and fulfilling.

Nicky, hope all is well with you.

Hi all.Time got away from me!
Sort of odd weather. Raining this morning, then sunny, now partially cloudy--can't make up its mind. I'm over it.
Email last night from the tour company of 2 tours we have next week in New Orleans--the wine and cheese walk and the cocktail crawl--everything cancelled for 2 weeks due to no guides. Nice. I was NOT HAPPY!! I did find another cocktail walk and actually found a rum distillery there with free tours and samples!! Now I'm REALLY happy!! lol
Full moon is coming. It's just crazy here. Crazy kids, crazy staff.
Hope everyone is just busy....
Have a good day!

Good morning/nearly afternoon Team!
Sunny and warmer. Had planned some dirt therapy but VW took longer than expected so I don't really have enough time before pastels class. Inspection (and a couple of little things) for my Jetta today and there's always some anxiety around inspection when you have a car of a certain age. (She's 16 this month!) But, she passed like the champ she is! Called another paver for a quote. Thinking the other one is just a tad too high. This quote will either confirm that or prove to me that I have no idea about the cost of blacktopping. Pool will be opened tomorrow so I expect a lengthy cold spell lol
Hope my teamies are doing well...

Good morning all. Gray and gloomy here, but yes, Peg, slightly warmer. Muggy even. Yuck. Means lots of bugs out, and everyone knows how I feel about them!
Big referendum here today for our district. Lots and lots of cuts happening if it doens't pass. My job is secure, many are not. Scary.
Busy again. Kids injured outside of school and coming in to see me. Or sick for a week. Or had a concussion a week ago and they still aren't right (with no paperwork, of course).
Job security!! Love my kidlets.
FInal week of collecting money for our lead nurse surprise party on Thursday. Can't wait till that's over.
Have a good day all!

Good morning Team!
Sunny and warmer. Have to return one of the house phones I bought yesterday. Would give up the landline but it's the only number mom knows.
BERYL, I have not had it checked out. I think I just need to reconfigure the wifi settings. Now, I have to remember how to do that.
Wishing all a great day!

Hi team. Turned out to be a nice day--warmer than this morning, that's for sure. Rain tomorrow. What a surprise.
Kathie, I'm so sorry. I hope they find the paper they're missing quickly and you can move forward. It's still all temporary, but I'm sorry just the same it may not be as temporary as you first thought.
Peg, did you get your computer checked? Mine is nearly 5 years old and they said it was fine, which surprised me.
Lori, is there a time frame on the possible move? Sorry for the cold and rain. That makes me never want to leave the house!
DrSue, still sounds nice to get away, even if the weather isn't cooperating.
Hi Nicky!
Prepping stir fry for tomorrow. Staff meeting then haircut before the gym, so I'll want it all prepped.
DD is back talking to us. She made some overtures over the weekend and I finally told her how much the whole thing bothered me. She apologized, said she needed to be mad at not being here, but didn't mean to take it out on us. But she did and I told her that. We're all good now. Whew. You know the saying about being only as happy as your least happy child.....truth.
Have a good evening ladies. emoticon

Good evening Team!
BERYL, we have Time Warner which I think is tied with Comcast as the worst. I don't think this is their fault, though. I think it's with my computer that is probably close to 7 years old.
LORI, for the winter the water level is drained to below the return, all the openings sealed and a winter cover put on. The filter is disconnected. Then it freezes and thaws as the winter progresses. My pool is not heated so that's why dips in the temps in summer really impact on my ability to go in it.
DR SUE, it sounds like you definitely hit all the hot spots! Maybe some rain Tues night and then it should get warmer again.
KATHIE, sorry your closing date may be moved and what that means for your loan. I don't think interest rates have increased substantially, have they? Good luck with the new eating plan. I'm anxious to hear how it goes.
Got an estimate on having my very small driveway and the front walkway repaved. More than what I hoped for, but it really needs to be done. oh well...
Hope you are well, NICKY.

Hi Team.

Nice to hear from DrSue but sorry for the cold weather up there. Apparently a lot of places in the east & Great Lakes have snow. I don't miss it at all.

Started the diet this morning. Its a lot of work cooking here in the "un-kitchen" but I'm doing the best I can. I kind of mixing up the days and swapping meals I can't do here or foods I won't eat. But I couldn't go on eating that processed junk. It wasn't doing me any favors.

It does not look good for me closing on time and that could impact my loan. I am very depressed. So its good that I started the diet because I threw away anything I might cheat with.

Hello Team,

I'm so happy to see our Dr. Sue. While your weather is not cooperating there is a change in your posts. Sort of like at peace, and for that I am glad.

Beryl, I'm so glad that you had an amazing time at the dinner/gala. I knew that you would feel for the servers but I didn't know that they would be kids, that is sad. Pish posh on your slight gain, we both know that it will go down again and you will enjoy Nola.

Peg, last night my whole system went down too, I had to re-boot at the router, etc. how much does it cost to have a pool? How do you protect it it the freezing winters? Almost, all homes in Fresno/Clovis have pools. Nothing new on that front but we are hoping strongly that we will soon be with our Clovis babes.

Sunny and cold, very chilly breezes. Yesterday, dark and cloudy all day and cold.

~hugs to my team, Lori

It is sunny today, but COLD, and the wind is blowing so had the wind chill is in the 30's. No deck staining today. So I'm in town doing errands and laundry. Quint was bored out of his tree with the weather. I out on my barn jacket with the lining in and we played chuck-it down the lane and back. He still insisted on going in the truck when was packing it. We hit all the big attractions in Hancock. The dump, the supermarket, the hardware store and of course the laundromat. Apparently it was a popular idea to do laundry today. The place is hopping.

Peg, I think you might need to get a dry suit for the pool this year! Beryl, of course they are tired a whole weekend to fight, party or whatever else they do. At least it sounds like you got a good class going. Perhaps since you now have rep of being an unyielding teacher, all the lazy student are avoiding your classes. That is what I call addition through subtraction. It may seem counter-intuitive, but it greatly improves quality of life. I hope everyone else is doing well.

Good Monday morning team. FREEZING here but sunny. Had the heat on in the car and it actually was on in my office when I came in. And it felt good!!
Peg, sorry about the wifi/connection issues. I hate Comcast, but it's all we can have. Our computers at home freeze and are so slow. And I have a MAC. I've had it checked out and it's not the computer, leaving the issue to be Comcast. I hate monopolies.
Really trying to lose a couple of pounds this week so I can go into NOLA a couple down. Not happy where I am now. We'll see. The oatmeal binging has to stop. I will not open a new box. Please remind me of that.
Everyone is so tired today, no one can stay in school. Me too!!
Have a good day ladies. I hope the sun is shining for you!

Good morning Team! Sunny and a tad warmer than yesterday.
My computer is wonky. Finally tried connecting it to the modem and it works, so it's something with the wifi. At least now I can connect with the world. Not to mention that my phones have died so I'll have to get new ones today.
Yesterday at DGS's games, it felt like football weather. Wore jacket and gloves. Others had scarves, hats and blankets...amazing. Brought some plants in last night. Today is mowing.
It's crazy weather indeed. Of course the pool will be opened on Thursday and I'm sure we'll see some icebergs floating.
DR SUE, good to hear from you.
BERYL, too cold even for the winery...what month is this?
A big hello to everyone.

Hello team! I've been lurking every day to keep up with you. I have to be somewhere with wifi, to download the posts, but can't reply until I'm back somewhere with wifi again. If I change screens, it's gone.

First, Nicky I am sorry for your DH and your loss. At least he is at peace.

Lori, congrats on your 15th anniversary. Dinner sounded great.

Peg, nice about your DD lawyer forgetting. I hope it doesn't cause too much angst.

Kathie, your Biltmore estate photos and story are great. I'm so happy for you in your new life. I laughter about your "Duh" moment. I am happy things are proceeding for the townhouse. Will all the work, including the kitchen be done by the time you move?

Beryl, how was the big event? I bet you looked awesome. Terrible about the kids punching everything in sight. Especially after your friends horrible tragic experience.

I'm keeping it brief, because I'm afraid it will poof before get next door again. The weather here is the continual roller coaster. It was almost 80 degrees here on Wed, and beautiful. The day before I power washed my decks. Wed I used 5 gallons of stain, and have not finished. Have another 5 gallons to go if the weather improves. It poured Friday and rain on and off Sat. Today is very cold, blustery and (yes, it's true) we had snow showers! WTH? I have hit the egg farm and the farmers market. My parents want to order Chinese take out for dinner. I told them to order without me, I will make my own version, with shrimp and all kinds of goodies from the market. I have gone running three times. Will try for tomorrow if the weather improves. We are hunkered in front of the fire. Reading, jigsaw puzzle and catching up with my team. I apologize if I've missed anyone, have a good night!

Good Sunday afternoon team. Gray and windy and cool. This is MAY??? Feels like March. Supposed to go to a winery this afteroon but have no desire to sit outside in this.
Lori, when is DD going to ISrael? Is she going to live there?
Peg, that concert sounds fabulous. I always loved Stephen Stills.
Had so much fun at the Gala. We will volunteer again next year and I have lots of things I saw that needed to be changed. lol. Our host and host were so gracious--I was anxious about that since I didn't know what to expect, but everyone at the table was lovely and we had a great time. Won Phillies tickets and gorgeous earrings at the Silent Auction. They have kids with Type I Diabetes there who act as hosts and hostesses all night, and let me tell you, when you see those little babies of 3 and 4 and 5 with their little insulin pumps, it breaks your heart. Such a terrible disease.
So had way too much lovely pinot grigio last night, ate OK, and did muxcle pump and zumba this morning. Poor souls near me I"m sure could smell it on me!
Chilling this afternoon. Reading the papers and just whatever. There needs to be a Trader Joes run, but that's it.
Have a good day ladies. emoticon

Good evening Team!
My computer has been wonky so this is the first time I've managed to get on SP.
Thanks, KATHIE, for such a succinct explanation. As I said, it makes sense to me personally as I do so much better without the carby things. Good luck on the one remaining paper.
BERYL, enjoy tonight!
LORI, sorry for the drama.
The opening went well tonight and I got a lot of compliments on my paintings. Tomorrow morning DGS has baseball, a double header. The concert last night was great! The Rides consists of Stephen Still, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Barry Goldberg and two other excellent musicians. It was really fun. Signing off before my computer conks out again.
Hoping everyone is having a good night.

Hello Teamies,

Thank you Kathie for your great explanation of this new diet. As Beryl said, you never bore us. The way you post is like us being a part of your life and that alone is so sweet. One thing that I've learned from when I was on Omni, is whole fat products are healthier than reduced fat. I'm not afraid to use butter or oil as I was for decades. Of course I only use them, liberally? Not sure of the word. What's interesting is full fat products have less sugar and carbs than reduced fat. Wow, only one more paper left, whoo hoo.

Beryl, I'm so excited for your night. You will rock the outfit and be eye candy for your DH. I'm sure that you will empathize with the volunteers too. I'm anxious to hear your views from the other side.

Well yesterday became hot and energy draining. I did go out with my friend but because the heat was so bad we we just exhausted. Dd2 spent the night again and we had drama again. We discussed her going to Israel and having to find a home for her kitty. Lots of stress and tears.

Today seems lovely out, I hope it stays that way. ~sending hugs to my team, Lori

Good Saturday team. Started sunny and beautiful but clouding up now. Story of my life!
Up another .6 but before I weighed in my leader told me how thin I looked. Yeah, but the scale....then did barre, and ran some useless errands. Eating my salad and going to nap. CLothes laid out. Looking very forward to my fancy dinner tonight.
Kathie, you NEVER are boring!! Thank you for explaining it to me. I too think you'll lose weight on your own. It seems like the cravings are linked to anxiety and stress. I hear that.

Beryl, sorry your spring is yucky. After years of yucky Michigan springs I am enamored or NC spring. Chilly this morning - 47 when I took the dogs out - but sunny and the high will be in the mid 70s by the afternoon. The sky really is cerulean blue here. Still amazes me.

Received word today that I'm down to one missing document that still needs to be filed. That's progress and lawyers are working to get things in order so I can close on time. Please keep body parts crossed for me. I am so close.

Still reading the Always Hungry book but have decided to do it. I ordered it from Amazon last night. I will try to give the basic premise. The first few chapters deal with why our fat cells are holding onto fat rather than releasing it when the brain calls for more nutrients. I won't try to explain but you can hear about this credentials and the science in this interview:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ppTubRWI
4uI

The first 2 weeks are considered a boot camp to get rid of cravings. You give up all grains, starchy vegetables, sugar, alcohol, some fruits and all reduced fat dairy. You can eat all legumes, greens & non starch vegetable, most fruit, full fat dairy non dairy milk, high-protein food (meat, seafood, eggs, tofu etc) and fats (oil, butter, nuts etc). And one ounce of dark chocolate a day if you want. Fruit is not unlimited BTW.

Sounded a little scary to me because I did try one low carb diet many years ago and I was miserable. But when I read the recipes I realized I could be satisfied. Can't remember if I had embraced legumes back then or if they were allowed on whatever the diet was. But I love legumes now.

Anyway after 2 weeks you can add up to 3 servings of whole grain carbs (brown rice, quinoa, barley, etc.or starchy veggies other than white potatoes. a limited amount of tropical fruits, maple syrup & honey, dried fruit. Oh, and wine. This is what you stay on until you hit your goal.

The 3rd phase has you adding back foods gradually and and seeing how your metabolism handles them.

There's a certain balance in each phase of protein, fat & carbs.

I don't need to lose a lot of weight but I need get control over my cravings. Years ago I had a problem with cravings. Job stress, PMS, etc had a lot to do with it. After I lost weight with WW I pretty much had a handle on cravings. And then they disappeared. I did fine, ate a healthy balanced diet, stopped tracking and generally stayed at a weight I was happy with. After Bill died the cravings came back. My eating since then has been erratic and I've given into the cravings time & time again. So this losing the cravies is my primary goal. I think then I will pretty much lose the weight naturally. The Phase 2 on this diet is not all that different from old WW before all the processed food was permitted. Its higher in fat but (now that I am honest) I always allowed myself more fat that was in the plan.

So I need to make a plan and decided when to start. This kitchen is a joke. I am not exaggerating when I say there's no counter space but no more excuses.

Hope I haven't bored everyone.

Good Friday evening team. Gray this morning, sunny and warm later, then the clouds came back and it rained again. Cooler too. I am OVER this spring!
Run in in Ulta today. I cannot be left alone in that store!!
Zumba tonight was ghastly. We had a sub who everyone walks out of her class when she subs or even teaches, but we all stayed. Mostly. I kept saying it was better than lying on the sofa. But only marginally.
Lori, happy anniversary!! Many, many more in good health and love to the 2 of you.
Kathie, glad to hear they're going to take responsibility for the repairs. That's good news. I hope you get more.
Peg, what's the story behind this diet? What can you eat, and can't, and why? Do you stay on it forever? I've never heard of if.
Enjoy camp DrSue!! Hi Nicky!!
Have a good evening ladies. emoticon

Peg, I'm going to do it. Goodness knows I need to do something about the cravings and the creeping weight gain. The book makes sense. The first 2 weeks are restrictive but I know enough about nutrition (as I'm sure we all do) to see that the meals are healthy. Breakfast is challenging for me because while i like eggs for lunch or dinner I cannot face them in the early morning. But I can swallow the protein shake. Of course I jumped ahead a read the recipes. An self respecting foodie would read the recipes. And they look good How I'm going to manage in this awful & tiny kitchen with no counters I don't know but I will figure it out. Now's a good time since I don't have a lot of food in here. There's really nothing much to throw away.

Lori your anniversary dinner sounded just lovely. I am so happy for you and your DH. My anniversary is 2 weeks from tomorrow. I hope to be moving that weekend so I can think about something else.

Still no word on the missing documents and now I'm not likely to hear anything before Monday. If then.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend. It tends to get quieter here and I like to think you are all out doing something fun. I will find something fun to do myself. Just don't know what yet.

Happy Anniversary, LORI! I loved the fb pic, too.
KATHIE, I peeked in the book, too. I think the first two weeks are pretty restrictive. I'm not planning on following it to the letter. What I read reinforced what I already know...I feel much better with more protein, lots of veggies and fruits and little to no carby things like sugar, bread, rice, pasta, etc. I know that if I just have a little of those things, all is lost. That's just me. If I would just stick to what I already know I would be fine. Giving it a try...again. Will check out the recipes in the book. Glad you can do takeout from the store and more importantly, agreement has been reached on the repairs.
BERYL, sorry the kids are acting out. Nice that your class may be a good one.
Just got home from class and I have to shower, wash my hair and get ready. We're stopping somewhere to grab something to eat before the concert.

Hello Teamies,

Well we are now working on our 16th year of marriage emoticon . My husband took me to Macaroni Grill. That was our place whenever we had our anniversary or Valentine's Day. We loved it, they actually had servers sing, in opera, for special occasions. Our dinner was superb, we shared, I said calories do not count, then they brought cake, chocolate, hot, with a rich chocolate sauce and a gnacache? Anyhoo, we loved it and also shared a glass of wine.

Peg, you have a wonderful day ahead for you, yay. Wth, was DD's atty held in contempt, for wasting court time? So sorry about that.

Kathie, I'm so relieved that the seller will fix what is essentially their responsibility. Wow, yes, you can get take out now. On your first pick, a rotisserie chicken, great pick.

Beryl, what a terrible thing to worry about, kids fighting. I'm glad it was the wall and not another kid being punched.

Yesterday it was hot, unpleasant, in the high 80's and early 90's. Today 10 degrees cooler and lovely. I will spend some time with my friend today.

~hugs, Lori

Hi team. Decent day here after last night's rain. Mix of clouds and sun. Warm. No complaints from me. Annie & I walked fairly early and then I went to warm yoga flow. I would put the room temp somewhere in the 80s so not horribly hot like I've heard stories about but you definately sweat. It was a pretty vigorous workout and I felt good afterwards.

Peg sorry about DD's lawyer? Forgot? WTF? And we pay these people the big $$$ Hope this isn't going to be too stressful for DD. Painting class today followed by a concert sounds like a good day.

Beryl sorry about the out of control students but glad that your night class group sounds good this semester. Really hope you get some sunshine this weekend.

Lori loved your FB anniversary picture. Happy anniversary. 15 years You are still newlyweds. Hope the pain has gone away.

The sellers have signed the agreement to make the repairs to the townhouse. My lawyer is talking to their lawyer to try to track down the missing documents. They need to be found by the 19th for me to close on time. I really want to move.

Had another "duh" moment and realized that I'm now in an urban/suburban area and can get carryout food from the grocery store that's better than the frozen meals. Picked up a rotisserie chicken. Had some for dinner that night and now having the leftovers in salad for lunch.

I picked up the Always Hungry book and plan on taking it out to the deck in a few minutes. I did peak and my heart sank. It looks very restrictive. But I will start reading at the beginning and then decided if I want to attempt it.

Good gray morning ladies. Muggy out but not that warm.
Oh, it is SO Friday the 13th here. Fights from 7:10 on. I told one kid who punched a wall because he was mad if I wasn't afraid of getting in trouble I'd smack him upside the head. lol
What gives people the right to touch another person? I dont' get that.
Peg, that's disgraceful. He "forgot". That doesn't work. Now the drama is prolonged. Is DD OK with that?
Really enjoyed class last night. I didn't have to worry about there being enough discussion. We didn't get out till after 8! They're nice. One oddball guy, but we'll see how he goes as the weeks go on.
Back to the drama of high school!
Have a good one!

Good morning Team! Gray and supposed to rain and again, we need it. Thinking if it could rain gently every morning from about 2 - 5 we'd be golden lol
LORI, that demon licorice just keeps calling to you. Good luck in the battle. I've gone through some short hair times, too, but my hair is so straight and fine that there's not much body to it. Used to perm it back in the day.
I hope our team is doing fun things and that's why it's been so quiet. Doing laundry, then a couple of errands, painting class and then the concert tonight.
Nothing happened at court yesterday because DD's atty. forgot, was in another court and didn't show. Next appearance is in a month.
Wishing a good day to all!

Hello Team,

Yes, I got into the licorice, yet again. I get so mad at myself. I read the article on the BL and why maintenance is the most difficult part of dieting. I've always know that for me, but now they have a study on it. We have a hormone called leptin, it controls hunger. After losing weight we burn far fewer calories than we did at a higher weight. nyti.ms/1TeVWnG

I haven had my hair cut in years. I, like Peg, can put it up in a pony tail when I'm working in the garden. I've tried short hair and I look way older. Yes, Peg, like the 70's but now I have a straightener and curling iron, then I used head bands to control the friz.

I hope that family court went well. It's beautiful out here too. Beryl, I'm sorry for the family drama. It is quite sad. I'm so used to taking video whenever one of my babies has a birthday, it's just second nature now. The babes love rewatching them. I hope that your class of 9 is rewarding.

I was supposed to go to my friend's house today, yet I awoke in some nasty pain, I took some meds and went back to sleep. I'm feeling better now. I'm just chilling with my fur babes.

~ I'm wishing you, my team, an awesome day, ~hugs, Lori

Its' a GORGEOUS day here Peg! Just spectacular! Sunny and warm. But not too much.
Or course, that is supposed to end this afternoon, but I'm enjoying it now.
Good luck in court. Will DD find out anything today or will it be ongoing?
I hope I have good students! I know a few. Just be very different for me having so few! I may enjoy it.
Following up on my non compliant students from earlier this year. Nothing like waiting till the end to do that!
Have a good day ladies. I hope something wonderful happens to each of us today!

Good morning Team!
Sunny here today emoticon BERYL, do you have sun or did I steal it again?
This afternoon is Family Court so that should be enjoyable...not!
Hoping you luck out BERYL, and have a class of 9 winners. Maybe all the "bad" students opted for some easier course? Love hot and sour soup. As for my hair, it has been longish, but now reaches the top of my back bra strap. (How's that for a visual?) It's easier this way, just up in a pony tail or in a braid to keep it out of my way when I'm working outside (or inside for that matter) And my former bangs are nearly long enough to be caught in the ponytail or braid, too. Maybe I'll revert back to my college/hippie days.
The guys are here to sand the pool deck in prep for staining. They wanted to at least get the sanding done prior to opening. Need to go shower and put on real clothes for court.
Wishing all a good day!

Peg

Good evening team.
Lori, thanks for explaining about your state. You will never hear me say "Geography for 200 Alex," lol Enjoy the last day of vacation with DH. DD is angry because she did not attend the party because it's a nearly 3 hour trip and it was just cake, so she'd asked DD2 to facetime with her when he dove into the cake, and she forgot and did it afterwards. It's clearly just misplaced onto us. DD2 did say she finally spoke to her this morning. I still have not. And will not. She can call me at this point. I'm not responsible for what I didn't know.
Peg, are you letting your hair grow? How do you ladies go so long without haircuts? I go every month and if I could go weekly I would! Of course, it's just easier to cut it all off than deal with it too!
New class starts tomorrow night. Only 9 students. Never had so few. Class will be short, to say the least. How much discussion can we have? I hope I'll be surprised, in a good way. The class is Politics and Policy, and now is certainly a great time to be discussing all that!
Off to eat my dinner--hot and sour soup and salad. So excited!
Have a good evening ladies emoticon

Hello Team,

California is huge. I live in Southern, my Dd1 lives in Central, my DS and Dd2 live about 50-60 miles SE of us. So, while we'd be very close, geographically to DD1 and kidlets, I'd be about 250 miles away from my other two.

Beryl, what happened to start Dd1 into this anger mode? Why couldn't she attend Ari's party? You are right about when our kids get older, the issues are larger and more difficult to address.

Kathie, these papers exist and will be found and you will get to live in your new house soon. We've all been praying, crossing all body parts and wishing and hoping for so long now, and we will continue until you are in, lock, stock and Barrell. Those pictures and witnessing of a proposal were so uplifting, thank you for sharing.

Peg, so sorry about all the issues you continue to experience with your Mom. I wish that it was easier on you.

Dr. Sue, I hope your absence is because you are enjoying camp.

Nicky how are you doing?

~last day of vacation for DH. We are trying to enjoy every moment. ~hugs, Lori

~ Lori ~

I'm here because I want to be healthy.

Hey KATHIE, we cross-posted. Foreclosure paperwork can be a pain and there are several types of deeds so that can complicate things, too. Good luck. Those papers are somewhere just waiting to be found. Understand about the hair. My hair person and neighbor retired at the end of the year. She had done my hair since the early 1980s. Haven't had my hair trimmed since Sept or Oct of last year. Just can't decide where to go...

Happy sunny Wednesday morning, Team!
Yes, BERYL, once again I have stolen your sun! Happy Birthday to DH! Because you do all of that "meat cooking", I forget that you don't really eat it. I think they try to check mom, but she is, shall we say, less than cooperative...
Getting ready to go out and hit those gardens and make a follow up call to a paving company.
A good day to all!

Very dark here this morning and thunder rolling in the distance. After I got the dogs taken care of I went down to the scary basement and threw a load of laundry in since otherwise tomorrow I will be out of underwear. I will probably get soaked when I go down to fetch it. The step are outside. They are steep and kind of dangerous. Did I mention I'm ready to move on??? I've been here 4 weeks now.

Title means ownership. The seller must provide clear proof they own the property and have the right to sell it. The development company bought it on foreclosure. (Apparently that has happened a lot everywhere after the crash in 2008) According to my attorney who has already handled closings on other units in the complex, the units were foreclosed separately rather than as one property which complicates the process. There are 3 important documents missing from the file for my house. They probably exist but were not filed properly with some government agency. They can take a while to track down and if so I am STUCK HERE waiting. And then there are the repair issues. Oy! My realtor is going over to the sellers' agent's office today and push a bit.

Sears is coming tomorrow to fix the fridge. They are going to call me between 7:30-8 to schedule the appointment. I know how that usually works so I will likely be stuck here all day. I can work on my assignment for the online class.

I need a haircut & color. Need to get that scheduled. Molly cut my hair for at least 14 years and the idea of someone new is daunting but its only hair & it grows back. My hair doesn't like the well water here and has been difficult to manage. I will have city water when I move and hope it will behave better then. I really don't wish to return to short hair.

Peg, that sucks about your mom. Seems like you ar doing everything that the staff should be doing.

Lori, I'm confused too. I thought you were moving to be closer to family.

Beryl, how cute that the men in your family went out for a guys night.

Hi to Nicky, DrSue and Sandy.

Good dreary Wednesday morning team. I DID see the sun one day, I KNOW I did!
Peg, the folks there should be making sure your mom isn't saturated. You're paying for the privilege of working there! You do have nice things (except for court) every day. I hope that goes well. I try and schedule any massages after I've exercised so I don't have to go undo everything they've (hopefully) done!
Kathie, good vibes everything goes well.
Lori, I think every state is like Delaware where you can go from top to bottom in 90 minutes. Never lived anywhere else.
Very excited DH is taking DSIL out to dinner at a meat restaurant to celebrate his birthday, joined by DB. I have a salad for dinner from a salad bar and some vegan hot and sour soup from Whole Foods that I cant' wait to eat. And wine.
Have a good day ladies

KATHIE, wonderful estate and gardens and definitely a sweet story. I didn't know there was a title issue, too. It will work out. You'll probably get the book before I do. When I reserved it, there were a lot of holds on the copies that were already checked out.
LORI, I guess I thought gong to Fresno would put you closer to your children. Geography was never my strong point and definitely the geography of a state about which I know little.
BERYL, sorry for the DD drama. I remember that you volunteered at the JDRF gala each year. Enjoy being a guest this year! As for mom, they tried a tray or something to help, but she resisted it all. She told me today that she doesn't understand why she can't remember falling. I've encouraged her to get into bed to sleep, but she won't. Also, every visit turns into a visit to the bathroom to help her...not my idea of a good time. She's losing her control and/or doesn't remember to remove the pad before it gets over saturated. Thinking I should be on their payroll as a part time CNA. I apologize for the TMI.
I lived up to my compromise, NICKY. I bought the mulch, but didn't work in the gardens. Tomorrow morning, for sure.
Tomorrow's fresh produce bag will include local asparagus...can't wait!
Has anyone watched the Netflix series, Grace and Frankie, with Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda? I've just requested season 1 from the library.
Tomorrow is pastels; Thursday is Fam Ct with DD1; Friday is oil painting and a concert at night (Stephen Stills has a new group with Kenny Wayne Shepherd and some others) and Sat is the opening reception for the art show. Almost every day has at least one positive thing...hooray!
A good night and sweet dreams to all.
