Beryl, I'm so glad the event went well. Enjoy the new cookbook.

Nicky, you will be fine with DBIL, and he will not be with you all the time. Cook as you always do, and let him deal. As I said before, anything you make will be better than anything he would eat.

Rainy and dreary. 6 days of work left, then vacation. Beryl, when do you go to NOLA?

Have a good day team!

I gave most of the biscuits away and put some in the freezer. I'm trying to ignore them, like Nicky's macadamias. I make them rarely, but when I do, people ask for more. I might have make a new batch to give to the elder lady. Those will all be out the door. I've had my binge. emoticon

Finally sitting down with my wine and some apples. Soup on the stove. Event went well. We had 120 people! Not prepared at all, but it went well. So glad it's over!
Peg, glad you didn't have to go. It was so miserable here today.
DrSue, those biscuits sound amazing, and like Nicky, I couldn't have them around me. They'd be SO gone!!
Lori, glad you enjoyed the boys visit! Hope you're feeling better today.
Kathie, how is he today? Did the antivert help? Thinking of you today. It won't be long now at all. The end is in sight!
Nicky, just KOKO. Can't do anything for BIL, so do the best you can while he's there. You're a good person.
I feel like I'm forgetting someone.
Off to finish the paper and begin to read my SIGNED cookbook!!
Have a good evening team! emoticon

Well, team I failed to get on my spin bike today, but not for lack of motivation. I was finishing a kitchen project (sending fresh biscuits with DH to his Sunday $itch club) he meets with elders at the yatch club and listens and learns. They are a special group and he tries to go every Sunday. I never go, because it's my "PJ and workout house day". Since I had made the biscuit dough, I left a little and baked it off this am. The eldest lady who doesn't eat LOVED them and ate 2. DH asked if he could steal more to take to her. It is a recipe for cheddar scallion drop biscuits. I use fat free buttermilk, 2% Mexican or cheddar and this round I made them with ramps. They are awesome. As low fat a biscuit as I think can be made. This always happens, I double the recipe to kill the buttermilk. I pass them around and people beg for them. So, I still have ramps, I can try and do another round this week.

Wow that was a segue. I got a work call, went to the office and debated, but Home Depot won out. I needed to compost and mulch my beds before I go to NY and the plants are too big. Ten bags of brown mulch and 6 bags of compost/manure, and planted a few things before the rain started. It looks better. 1 of my dwarf tulips is going to bloom!

Peg, I'm glad you DD let you know not to come. How is her situation proceeding? How is DGS with this new entrance into his life?

Beryl, I know you must still be crazed. I'm sure your event was wonderful!

Nicky, you are in my thoughts.

Lori, so glad you had such a great visit with Ds and DGS. Time to relax!

I'm being stared at with two sets of eyes, as it is 8 min after 5, so I am LATE feeding the boys. Can they read the clocks? I have never understood this, especially, when they don't miss a beat at daylight savings.

Peaceful evening to you all!

KATHIE, I'm so sorry Charlie isn't feelin' it this weekend. Darn.
Chewy.com has the VetriScience flea spray at a much better price than Amazon.
Once again, essential oils come to the rescue; the first ingredient is lemongrass oil.
I also use Bug Off Garlic chewies from Springtime. I rarely have to use flea/tick spray or spot ons any more. It takes a few months, but there is no detectable odor on Gunther.
https://www.springtimeinc.com/produc
t/
bug-off-garlic-dogs

I love this company; they are dedicated people in Cockeysville, MD (love to say that!).
I only use a spot on when we're going up to the ranch(haha) because the ticks are ravenous, and I think they'd plow through garlic aura to get at some food at all costs.

Good for you that you didn't lay in any ice cream. I haven't had ice cream in the house in I don't know how many years. Wouldn't dare. Frozen grapes is about as wild and crazy as I can get.

I wish you could have gone out to the auction, but there's no doubt you'll find some furniture that's just perfect. Who wants matchy matchy any way?

LORI, I have no plans to vacation any time soon. I just want to have that aspect of going away in order.
I know exactly what you're talking about re clothes packed in a closet. I have mostly workout-type clothes, but I recently purchased a few skorts from the athletic store so that I have something that's not too dressy, comfortable, and yet is decent at a restaurant.
My cardigans are getting a little cranky; most are from '05-'09.
I'm stalling on "tidying up" in there because there are a few sizes, and I vary a couple sizes. I've never been a "perfect size 10" like my mother used to be. She would NEVER consider sizing up. I seem to be all over the place from year to year.

DRSUE, I'm sure Q was delighted to get out. Good for you for putting in some steps.
I could never make that kind of biscuits and have them in the house.

Made the mistake of bringing a large bag of dry roasted macadamias from Costco. What was I thinking? I put them in the freezer and am ignoring them.

PEG, just wonderful that you met up with your DDs! Oh, how I wish my DD lived a little closer. Boys are just different. My DS unceremoniously dumped me when he was around 13. He's always there for me, for sure, but we don't hang out or anything like that.

Thank heaven that Bad Margaret doesn't show up too often. ;)

BERYL, I truly understand how you feel you can never win with mom. Some moms are just like that, and it's not all that rare. Was she that way when you were a teen, as well, or more toward her senior years? I guess we don't change that much, but maybe personality deficits bubble up more in senior years.
I can't imagine being nasty, rude, or accusatory to my children.

BIL comes into town tomorrow. I'm as prepared as anyone can be. I just hope he doesn't blubber and speak endlessly about the plight of his other brother.
This BIL has no interests other than cars, doesn't read, and doesn't exercise. He LOVES to come here, but all he does, basically, is sit at the kitchen table and watch game shows. DH takes him around to the auto museum and such, and he'll be driving down south to visit with his dying brother.
Like KATHIE said, I can't fix him, so I'll just deal with it.

When you arise in the morning,

give thanks for the morning light, for your life and strength.

Give thanks for your food and the joy of living.

If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies in yourself.

Hello Team,

Kathie, how is Charlie doing? I'm sorry that you missed the Auction. Will you design your new closet too. It's quite funny. Why Peg said. About wearing the same top, each time she sees the girls/grandson, I, too, wear the same clothes that I've worn for Jack's whole 10 years. I have updated with some new dresses and tops, but my closet is jam packed. It is a nice walk in closet, too. I think it's time to weed again. Yea for Sammi coming to sit with you. Great job on eating even tho it's just bland cuz it is healthy.

Peg, I'm glad that you got down and had some dirt therapy. Yes, of course, our backs let us know it, when we do. I'm requesting some pictures again, when it is not raining, that is. It is wonderful to have a sense of humor, when it comes to your Mom and Margaret. You are doing great.

Dr. Sue, I'm so glad that you are doing better every day. Good for you, with the steps. It's so sweet that Fredo is a lap cat. My Henry is too.

Beryl, I hope everything was lovely at the event today. Oh, and happy dancing on the 1.8 pounds down.

Nicky, how are you doing?

Yesterday was nice. We were quite active. Walking to and at the park, playing frisbee some, then walking around all of our townhouse community, my son has never been to the "pool side", so we walked and, of course, I looked at all the landscaping. I made a big pot of Chili and fed all my boys till they were full. Overall, a lovely day. Pain level was high but I was happy.

~wishing my team a great Sunday, Lori

Good morning Team! cold and rainy here.
DR SUE, I hate waking up in the middle of the night knowing that I am up for the duration. Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Didn't go to the ball games. DD1 said it was raining and miserable and to not come. Didn't take her telling me twice for me to agree.
BERYL, how did it go?
Hope my teamies are having a relaxing Sunday.

Good early morning team. I woke up at 2am and could not go back to sleep. Finally gave up at three and did the puzzle. It is supposed to rain this afternoon. I am feeling a bit better. Yesterday I took Q for a long walk after lunch, caught up on laundry and baked ramp cheddar biscuits. So good. Unfortunately I ate several, but gave some to neighbors and got them in the freezer. Made step goal, for the first time all week. Today I will spin.

Beryl, sorry about your Mother, some people just can't be pleased. I hope the cookbook event went smoothly.

Kathie, your time in the cabin will be short. Much shorter than you originally expected. I'm sorry Charlie is down again. I am glad Sammi is settling in and spent some time on your lap. Fredo is becoming quite the lap cat, and I love it. Enjoy your down time, your energy will return. I suspect when you start working at the townhouse you will be the energizer bunny.

Peg, I am sorry about your mom and that Maragret. I am thrilled to hear of your garden planning, and planting. It is nice you got out with both DD's.

Lori, enjoy you time with DS and DGS. Don't get too worn out.

Nicky, I hope you time with DBIL is not too crazy. Get out for a really nice long walk.

Off to get more tea.

Good evening Team!
It was a beautiful day. I worked outside. Started on the shade garden under the magnolia tree. (It will run between the magnolia and the rain garden I put in a couple of years ago.) Built up a "wall" on one side with small pieces of bluestone I had in the yard and then filled it with garden soil. (Had to make a quick trip to Home Depot for soil) Planted what was left from my shopping spree at the nursery. Put in some lamium, shade loving phlox, painted fern and coral bells that have coppery colored leaves. Should bring some color to that shaded area. Also dug up some mint and a bunch of hostas for DD1. Then, mowed the lawn. A surprise invitation from the DDs to meet them for dinner so I had to shower, wash my hair and clean up. Brought the plants for DD1 and after dinner I transferred them from my car to her car. Originally was going to bring them to DGS's games tomorrow, but the forecast is for rain so there may be no games. Dinner was great. Now I'm home, enjoying a glass of wine, took one naproxen as my back is definitely letting me know that it's "there" and Ruby and I are watching Yankees vs Boston. My plan for tomorrow is to get those *@#%& paintings framed.
BERYL, the cook book author thing sounds like fun (well, maybe not if I had to organize it). Hope it goes well. Sorry about the no win mom situation. I truly understand. The other day mom complained about "that one" who won't let her have any money. I asked who and she said "you know, that Margaret" and she said it with a lot of venom. (Of course, "Margaret" is me) Glad she thinks I'm the good one.
KATHIE, hope Annie feels better. Sorry you missed the auction. It makes sense that you're winding down. You've been in fight or flight mode for quite a while and now your body needs to recuperate. Be kind to yourself.
LORI, sounds like a wonderful dinner with you rabbi and his (your) family. That's great that you are one of the family. Enjoy the grandkids' visit.
NICKY, hope you are doing well with BIL.
DR SUE, pool opening is scheduled for May 19th. Hoping the deck will be restained before then. When do you head to camp again? Took Melinda to the vet for some fluids. (She won't hold still for me) She looks good and is eating better than she ever has. So, no more fluids trips unless she stops eating again.
Oh team, I have to go clothes shopping. All I have are tees, sweat pants and hoodies which work for me most of the time. Have one fairly nice shirt which I wore tonight and realized that the DDs have seen me wear it three times in recent months. I hate shopping!
Wishing all a good evening.

Peg

No auctions for me. Charlie is down again & I can't get him up. He's been off antivert for 2 days. I just ran to the drugstore & got him another box. He's not in distress but I can't possibly leave him. Oh well. Maybe there will be something on TV. I have a book. And no ice cream.

DrSue, thanks for the tip about the vetri-science all natural insect wipes and spray. That's the company that make Annie's glycoflex3 chews. I placed an order on Amazon right away.

Lori sound like you have a lovely weekend full of family & friends. Enjoy!

Beryl good luck with the cookbook author event. Congrats on the WI. Sorry your mom causes you angst.

Peg, DGS is quite the gifted young man. Great about his team again this year. I've had the "slows" for days. My BF says its because I'm finally letting myself relax from the pressure of moving and all the drama from both of the house sales. I don't know. I really want my energy level back.

Nicky I hope its going OK with your BIL's visit. Remember you cannot fix him. We can't fix anyone but ourselves. Try to enjoy if you can.

I am proud to say I made it out of the grocery store with only what was on my list: Lean Cuisine (I know but what else can I do?) frozen veggies and a bottle of wine emoticon
No candy, ice cream, snack or anything. I'm making oatmeal in the morning and I have some bagged salad and some cut up fruit. Its all pretty blah which is probably why I was buying the snacks but I am stopping. The stress is over, well nearly. The closing is Tuesday and then it will be over. I pray no drama with the townhouse. The only thing that could delay closing is the list from the inspection.

I'm going to an auction in town this evening. I stopped in with my realtor the other day and they had an antique walnut chest of drawers that is as close as I've ever seen to a match to my dresser. If I can get it for a good price it would work well for the new house. I will have less drawer space in my bedroom (the old house had a huge walk-in that I customized with drawer units). Its something to do whether or not I get the chest. Hanging around here is kind of boring which is probably why I am eating.

Last night Samantha came into the living room and jumped up on my chair with me for a while. She's taking her time. She's OK with Charlie because he is so laid back but Annie is so excited and happy about a kitty that she scares Sammi a bit. I'm just giving her time.

I did sit down at the sewing machine yesterday and stitched some random pieces of fabric just because I thought it would feel good. And it did.

The fridge here is making a bad noise. I would hate to lose all the food I just bought. This place is a dump.

Hello Team,

Peg, I, too, am glad you pushed through your "slow, blah" day and went to you class. Your grandson is so sport talented. Beryl, you are in a lose, lose position, when it comes to your Mom. I'm sure it's a difficult position to be in day in, day out. I'm sorry.

Yesterday was very precious to me. I did go to my Rabbi's house and had lunch with the whole family, 17 kids, all beautiful, Frumi's family, 2 sisters, B-I-L's, and her Mom. I grew up with non to few family get togethers, so being a part of this was such a blessing. I only see them once a year but feel as if we, too, are family.

Today, my son and grandson will come to visit and have dinner. It will be nice to spend some time with them. No doubt, I will be busy with my grandson. When he and I do anything, he requires my full attention. He will glance up often to see if my eyes are focusing on him. I don't mind, but it makes it hard to be sociailble with any others in the room.

It's cool outside, 60's to 70's. Have an awesome day team, ~Lori

Good Saturday afternoon team. Finishing lunch and off for my nap shortly.
Down 1.8 at WI. No clue why, but I'll take it! Did barre and aqua zumba this morning and enjoyed both. Especially now they're done!
Just spoke to my mother. Her BFF (and pretty much ONLY friend) is moving up here to an assisted living facility. Yikes. Course, she then sniped at me that had she known about my cookbook thing tomorrow she'd have come up, and when I asked how she'd get here since she said she wouldn't drive up here anymore, she got mad at me. Just shoot me.
Peg, I'm so impressed that despite feeling so blah you went to class and interacted and felt better, not to mention the games. Get used to DGS winning all the time, seems like. Hope you're feeling better today.
Finishing my salad, vegetable soup is on the stove, and hoping tomorrow works out. I have chest pain.
Have a good day ladies!

Good evening Team!
The "slows" continued into today. I just felt "off". I went to class anyway and watched the demo/lesson on color and limited palettes. Then I stayed and visited with my friends in the class. Didn't do any painting; left feeling a little better. Tonight was a baseball game and DGS's team won. Neither team scored during the first 5-1/2 innings. Then DGS's team scored 2. The opposing team scored only one in the top of the 7th, not enough. DGS pitched the last two innings.
Sounds like everything is moving along for my team.
Wishing all a good evening.

Peg

Shabot Shalom Team,

Dr. Sue, I know all too well, as I've been the one to call, when my kids need a babysitter. I. actually, love being alone with my babies, somewhat prefer it at times. When I met our team, I was driving out every single week, of my 3rd grand child's life, spent one night and watched him from 2:00pm Monday till 6:30-7:00 pm Tuesday. So I'm the expert at babysitting my babies. Our first grand baby, Jack, I worked M-Th, and drove out Every Friday and came home on Saturday evening for his first 17 months till they moved 3 hours away. I still drive out to either of there homes when needed. My most precious memories. Are those when I'm alone with the kids over a night or two. So, being there to babysit, omg, would bring me much joy. I would even suggest it. It's a win-win. Thank you for worrying about me, tho, I have no life like Beryl does. Give me my babies or my garden and I'm in heaven emoticon

I'm glad that you are feeling better, happier. Where can we buy those wipes?

~hugs, Lori

Nicky, I'm a hard one to offend. Yes, at 48 so yes I'm peri menopausal. So point taken, that could be adding to my funk. I am so tired. Still haven't worked out. I know it will help, just got to get up and do it. I haven't even been getting Quint out for long walks. With the long weekend at camp, he hasn't been crazed to get out. Coach potato week- except for the short 40 hour work week.

Beryl, you always amaze me. I feel like a slug with all you do. Especially this week. I am curious about who the chef/cookbook author is. Will have to check out the James Beard winners.

Peg, I hope you Mom's scan is OK. I also hope you are getting some great dirt therapy. Do you have plans for the pool to open?

Lori, I hope it all goes your way. Closer to family, less expensive, sounds great. Just don't let yourself become the permanent baby sitter. It will wear you out. Beryl knows!

Kathie, I am so sorry the closing got put off, but it is still on. So that is good. I love where you get to walk. I love the vetri-science all natural insect wipes and spray. It is a vet product, but I use on myself too. It is great against biting flies also. I spray Q's body, but use the wipes on his prominent ears and his rear end. The spots they flock to. The deer fly is a NY Spring-Summer staple, and they make black flies look like amateurs.

I seem to be feeling a little better. As I say many weeks- I can do 4 more hours, then have break. Happy Friday night everyone! Beryl, I hope you are at whole foods!

Good morning team,

Oh Beryl, I, once again, wish I lived closer, not only to help you but to spend so much time learning about our Judaism. So much on your plate right now. I did go to spend time with my friend, Nati. We had a great visit. I learned about her life in Israel and that, there, her whole life was based upon Judaism. Coming to the States has been quite a cultural shock. His parents live in Southern California, he was raised and Orthodox Jew but changed as soon as he left home. They met and lived in Israel for 7 months but he couldn't live there, they came back, moved in with his parents and came with no money, now they have a huge home and he is a good earner.

Kathie, it's getting closer. Such a great time for you. I want to hear everything about your remodeling. I'm glad the fur babies are doing well.

Dr. Sue, yesterday, I got the blues, don't know why but now I have them. I have to find something to concentrate on other than my health, my husbands dispair at work, and what not. My garden isn't even bringing me a smile. I hope that you have something to smile about today.

Nicky, I didn't know that you are going somewhere. I thought everything was coming to your house. Where will you be going?

Peg, that was fun last night, I hope that you really enjoyed yourself.

I'm going to my Rabbi's house for lunch, I will see another sister of his wife, my friend. She just got married and had a baby. They live in Crown Height's, NY. If I don't go today I wont see her for another year.

~hugs, Lori

Good morning team and TGIF. I have not been getting notices again and have been frazzled.
Went to a conference on adolescent health issues yesterday and enjoyed it.
I'm in charge of a very well known cookbook author coming to our temple on Sunday. He just won a James Beard award 2 days ago and now reservations are exploding. I have no one helping me but DH and am hysterical. My class stuff needs grading, my new class needs starting...but enough!
Peg, I hope you do something for yourself that may make you feel better.
Lori, a move!! Close to the babies!! How exciting!
DrSue, camp???
Kathie, such good news about the townhouse making you feel happy. Tuesday will come and be gone before you know it.
Nicky, I'm so sorry. Dumb question--why are you responsible for all his meals? Can he not cook? Discuss with you what he can and cannot have? Sounds like a lot of work for you PLUS a lot of stress along with it. I'm so sorry. Plan some things for yourself during that week.
I've missed you! I cannot let that happen again!
Drizzly and FREEZING here. Not really, like 55, but feels cold! Like sweats and a jacket cold. Like, I'm NOT turning the heat on again cold, but the heater in the car sure feels good!! lol
Have a good day team!! emoticon

Good morning team. Yet another gorgeous day here. I really need to get out and do some exploring today. Sticking around this cabin is boring. The dogs & Samantha are fine when I'm gone. 1

Peg, that's a funny story about the round of drinks. Hope mom's scans come back clean.

Nicky, ditto on the good plan for Gunther. I think you will enjoy the getaway knowing he's well taken care of. The river is more than a mile away from my townhouse. My Mi house was right on the water, not 100 ft. from the lake. So I know bugs. I doubt they will be an issue at the new house. I use all natural repellent when I'm in the woods or anywhere they may be a problem.

Lori I hope you had a nice time with your new friend. Twister? That scared me for a minute but I thought no in CA you can't mean a tornado? That would be too scary. I'm hoping you mean a whirl wind. In the Midwest twister if another name for a tornado.

DrSue, hope you are coming out of the funk at least a little. Fiddleheads & ramps are excellent. I used to be able to get them from my property. And morels if I went out to mys spots to look. I arrived after the season here so next year I will look again.

Beryl, hope all is well. I suspect you are busy. When do you leave for NOLA? I keep forgetting.

The closing for the house I am selling was to be today but has been moved to Tuesday. I have the papers that say its happening but not the papers that tell me exactly what I am going to get from the sale. I think I am supposed to have that today. The bimbo appraiser caused way too much drama and angst. But by Tuesday afternoon we can all say it together "not my circus, not my monkeys anymore". It will be a big relief when its over. That house is tied so closely to Bill's death. I went out yesterday so Culligan could take out the water filter. Its a darling house in a lovely setting but it could never make me happy. My townhouse makes me happy. Can't wait to move.

Today I vow to not buy any more snack stuff. I've pretty much decimated my stash and I don't have any excuses anymore.

Good evening Team!
NICKY, it is a follow up scan for the falls she took. They were several weeks ago and I (as well as facility staff) think that if there were any issues, they would have appeared. But the neuro wanted it. The neck scan showed another fracture of C1. Today was a scan of her head.
Dinner was fun and during it, the waitress came with a round of drinks that she said were bought by a man who called and said they were for the table of ladies. There were three such tables and for some reason they picked us, but won't say who called. Personally, I think one of the ladies from a different table will go home and be asked "did you get the round of drinks I sent?" and she's going to have to sa "uh....no".
The walk was really enjoyable, too. A new trail has been created that runs from the waterfront to a park farther down. We decided to give that a try and it was great.
NICKY, it's good to be able to say it out loud when we resent something or fear something, are angry or are sad. I would be resentful, too. I know you will make it work. Sounds like a great plan for Gunther.
Hoping everyone had a good day and a great evening.

DRSUE, sounds like your soul is in some sort of transition. At the risk of insulting (that's never stopped me emoticon ), are you perimenopausal? If so, all sorts of crises of confidence and and malcontent arise. It's the way it's supposed to happen.
Highly recommend lifesaving book by Dr. Christiane Northrup, "The Wisdom of Menopause."
Our brains literally get rewired during this hormonal flux, and I find that very exciting.
Mona Lisa Schulz, M.D., Ph.D. (WHAT were her parents thinking?) described this so well in her book "The New Feminine Brain."

It must be so unsettling to never know exactly what your work day will bring.

I hope you can engage in some real self care while you are at camp. Can't come too soon.

KATHIE, you have performed super human feats. Those of us here perhaps have fewer emotional tools at our disposal and use food for our emotional comfort first out of the tool box. I've come to terms with it (I think) and recognize it for what it is. What has changed, however, is that I know what I'm doing when I'm doing it (as do you) and am able to get it under control before it gets way out of hand. THAT is emotional maturity.

Saint? Not me.

BIL is coming in on Monday and will leave on Saturday morning. He doesn't want to stay with his sick brother even though they have a very large home and guest quarters. He's staying with us!!!! It's a freakin' two-hour drive one way to Sick BIL, but he doesn't want to stay there.

The upshot is, I'll be responsible not only for his meals, but I'm going to have to deal with DH and BIL blubbering and attempting to reconcile their deep emotions. They're an Irish family and cannot display emotions. Everything is always "Fine" or "Okay" until the booze comes out.
I have my own issues to deal with right now and rather resent his coming at this time.
There I said it.

KATHIE, that walk view is unbelievable!!!
Are you going to get a lot of mosquitoes in the summer, being that close to water?

PEG, may I ask, why is mom getting yet another scan? Diagnostic, I guess.
How cool that you get to see all your friends in one day!
For the most part, my dearest friends live far away.

I've decided that Gunther will do best at a doggie hotel rather than having a house sitter. The two places I would consider have an interview process, so we'll go there and see how he interacts with others. He LOVES all people and dogs, so it shouldn't be a problem.
I'll take him a few times to doggie day care so that he will know that I come back after his play time, and then I'll feel more secure leaving him for a few days while DH and I finally get to go someplace together.
DS used to house sit for us, but I won't even ask him these days; he has enough on his plate.

I might have mentioned that he got the necessary licenses to open their first out-patient rehab clinic. They will hire young, eager psychologists who aren't burnt out yet.

LORI, even just daydreaming about moving, being closer to family, and a change for DH is so much fun. If nothing else, you have a reason to "tidy up."
I've stalled in my decluttering, but so proud that I got some electronics together for recycling.

Sending a bright day of smiles to my Team.

give thanks for the morning light, for your life and strength.

Give thanks for your food and the joy of living.

Hello team,

It's all a wish, hope and dream. Nothing happens unless and until DH get's frustrated enough to push it. This company usually, does not follow thru, so I can't count my eggs until they hatch. Yes, we own our home now so it will mean selling. I am Not looking forward to that part.

Dr. Sue, eating healthy is still better, no matter what the portion is, than BEN and Jerry's. Maybe a good spin, with some great music will spring you from the funk.

Peg, how is your Mom adjusting to the back brace? I'm glad that your meeting with friend today.

Beryl, how is your weather today. Ours is cool and breezy. Yesterday, I witnessed a 50-100 feet twister going across the park. I caught some of it on my Iphone. It was as loud as an earthquake. That makes two, weather conditions chasing people out of the park this week.

I'm going to meet my new friend today and then go to my therapist. Not much else on my agenda, unless I go to my Rabbi's home to see another NY, friend.

~hugs all, Lori

Morning team, busy here. Thanks for your support. I'm still in a funk, I haven't worked out all week, and have not been completing my step goals. That probably is making it worse. Eating wise, I've been ok as quality, but slipping on the portions. (What's a few extra crackers?) kind of stuff. It is quite cold here, but sunny. The one sign of Spring was an early farm share of fiddleheads and ramps. I picked them up yesterday. I had ramp and fiddlehead pasta for dinner. I shouldn't say one sign, my trout Lillys and a few surviving tulips are in bloom.

Lori, that sounds exciting! I hope it works out. Do you own your home now or rent? Will you too be in house selling mode. New gardens to plan.

Kathie, it sounds lovely where you have landed. The walk sounded lovely. I love a passing mountain rain shower.

Yeah for Kellies koi back in the pond.

Nicky, I hope things are calming down.

I'm off to my Rotary meeting. Have a great afternoon.

Good morning Team! Another beautiful but cool day.
Oh LORI, big changes may be ahead. How exciting! Closer to the grandkids and a garden to boot.
KATHIE, glad to hear the weather is good. (Just like MI, right? lol) This eating thing is just a blip, because although things are better, they're still unsettled. Once everything is in place, that, too, will settle down. Yay, on the mani and pedi.
DR SUE, how goes it?
and BERYL?
and NICKY?
I saw on fb that KELLIE's fish are back in the pond and they (the fish) have a new fountain!
Took mom for a ct scan of her head this morning. Meeting a friend for a walk at noon and then tonight, dinner with the high school buds. Sometime this afternoon I'd like to get started on my next garden project.
Wishing all a good day!

Good evening team. Another pretty day. We got some much needed rain about an hour ago. The sun is trying to come out again.

Lori that's an exciting possibility. I agree that I would not want the work or the responsibility for a pool but the rest of the package sounds good particularly being closer to your family. And the gardening possibilities of course.

Peg, maybe the "slows" are contagious. Ever since I got here it seems like it takes me forever to get going in the morning. I've been blaming it on the clumsy set up here but who knows.

My eating has been awful. I've been enticed by snack items that weren't available in Charlevoix. And with real estate craziness and missing meals and coming home overly hungry I've developed some bad, bad habits. Why am I so self destructive. Cooking here is impossible but I am trying to make sure I augment the Lean Cuisine with fruit or a salad. When I get a kitchen again and a new grill I will be so pumped to cook.

Beryl, I've been meaning to tell you that my new townhouse is only 2 miles from a brand new YMCA. There are 4 here in Asheville and joining one give you privileges at all 4..

DrSue, hoping your week is going by without drama or crisis and you get your camp feeling back.

Nicky, good luck with the BIL.

No updates on my real estate circus. Waiting to hear that the woman who is buying the house I am selling has completed the sale of her house and is ready to close. Its like a game of dominoes. Also waiting for the inspection report on my new townhouse. I need to turn the list in to the management company so they can correct the issues. I don't think any of them are that big, none are structural, but the list will be long. The appraisal was today but I'm not concerned about that.

But all is good. Finally got out for a manicure and much needed pedicure. When I say its been years I am serious.

Hello Team,

Dr. Sue, I didn't intend to make you feel like crying. I hope that your time flies by and that you will get to camp and relax. I'm also, gonna be praying for some joy your way, too. You are a blessing to us all and to our fur babies.

Kathie, good for you, finding a place for you and Annie to walk. It looked real pretty. I'm glad that you got all that paperwork straightened out and that now Barbie will understand. We love our house, our gardens and our fur babies. Yet, it may come to pass that DH would be transferred to another plant to further his career in a more healthy way. It's something that we've been praying for forever. Any hoo, if we were to do that up where three of our grandbabies live, oh my gosh, what joy and happiness we would have on a daily basis. I've been looking at real estate there, the costs are far, far less than here. We would want, one story, a pretty and big kitchen that overlooks a big family room. Almost every home there has a pool, but I really wouldn't want a pool, fear too expensive and much upkeep. Each home has so much land around it. Most have beautiful lawns and gardens. Covered patios, one even and enclosed sunroom. That may be in our future and it is so exciting.

Peg, wow, so many acres are gone, I, too, hope that the wild life got out in time. I am glad that it is far from your home. Pastels is soothing, if not a bit messy, just think of it as "dirt therapy". I'm going to try and clean out the part of my patio that accumulates stuff and make it pretty. This will be my 3rd attempt. I saw a picture on FB, of my patio in 2014 and it was so neat and tidy. That is a good thing/bad thing about FB.

Beryl, have you recovered from Pesach yet? I'm slowly doing just that. I love the pics of your family on FB.

Nicky, how are you doing today? On Pesach I met a woman who said she had some sort of flowering bush, at her old house, that attracted butterflies. She had tons of beautiful butterflies. I was in awe, then they spoke of all the caterpillars that were there first and I was so grossed out by it. That is the circle of life, but still, ewwwww. They, like your hummingbirds, flew into the house.

I'm waiting on ATTUverse and hanging out in my gardens. May go out with my friend afterwards, we shall see. It is beautiful out.

~hugs, Lori

Good morning Team...sunny and cool...beautiful!
Sadly, as of last night over 2000 acres were lost to the fire and it is not yet over. But, there is renewal in a fire which KATHIE reminded us with one of her recent pieces. Just hoping the wildlife made it through ok.
KATHIE, so glad you were able to fix the mess "Bambi" (first stripper/ditzy name I could think of and no insult intended to Thumper's friend) made. Hoping it's all smooth sailing and your biggest problem is finding the perfect place for you and Annie to walk. Love hearing day after day that it is beautiful where you are. I'll never get tired of it. Glad your "stuff" is close by and secure. That worked out well.
Today is pastels so I don't know if I will get to play in the dirt. Suppose I could hop outside now, but I seem to have the "slows".
Wishing all a great day!

Good evening team. Another gorgeous day here in WNC. The trees are really greening out. Crazy day. Tried to find a good park for walking Annie. There's a nice lake with a trail all around it but almost no parking so that didn't pan out. Found another park with a trail along the river very close to the new house. Kind of short for what we are used to but maybe doing it twice. Didn't check the distance with the fitbit but will do so next time.

But all kinds of craziness regarding the sale of the "other" house. The appraiser is some woman with a stripper name and she's an idiot. That's the kindest description I can come up with. She has screwed up everything but not researching the public records. I have copies of the documents so my realtor sent them to our lawyer who sent the to the buyer's lawyer and bank and I guess its all OK again. Mr. Toad's wild ride. I don't need the drama. But I am proud to say I did not have a meltdown.

DrSue I can hear the sadness and discouragement in your post. I want to make you a big martini and give you a hug. I know exactly how you feel. When I was still working we would go to the cottage most weekends and I would always start to sink when we'd get close to the city again. I hope you can get away for a longer stay to get enough of that camp feeling to get your through to the next visit there. You haven't lost your gift but you are dealing with a lot of disappointment. Maybe a cry will help. We are always here for you.

Samantha is 4 years old. She is very sweet and quiet. She's not afraid of the dogs but is still keeping to one end of the house. She loves the sun room where i have set up a space for her and she can see the world from the back of the sofa.

Nicky, you are such a nurturer. You are always so focused on other peoples' needs and trying to help. You are some kind of a saint I think. I'm sure whatever you serve your BIL is better than what he eats on his own. I hope you & DH enjoy your time with him even though the circumstances are sad. And I am very sorry about your dear friend.

Beryl I'm glad your boss agrees. Here's my take on it. Way back in maybe the early 80s there was a big push in public education and related areas to feed the kids' self esteem. Kids got rewards for just showing up. Everyone got a trophy. Teachers were told not to say "that's the wrong answer" or not even "sorry, that's not the right answer" but to say "that's a good answer but does anyone have another? Kids were not accountable. There was no need to try. Well now they are the parents and guess what? I have my MA in education and I know that you can treat kids with respect and still expect them do the work for the grade. Self respect is more important that self esteem. IMHO that's where all the entitlement attitude comes from. I was teaching at the time and I remember it and would not buy into it. I was at a private parochial school so it wasn't an issue but some of my friends in public schools had no support for accountability.

Peg, that fire looks very scary. I'm glad its not close to you. Funny story about graduation. I can relate. LOL. BTW, my "stuff" is in a secure building that I can see from the window of the cabin. Its owned by the same people and at one time was a pottery studio. Its clean, lit and has a lock and a locked chain across the driveway. I have the keys and its only $125 a month. I'm very lucky to have this deal.

Lori, hope the massage has helped by now and I hope you were able to get the injections for your pain. Helicopter parents are really a problem. I see it all the time. You wonder how those poor kids are ever going to be able to hold a job and put up with what the world throws at them.

Wishing everyone a good night sleep and a good start to tomorrow.

Good evening Team!
No, that pic was not taken from my yard. DR SUE, it's Sam's Point, near Cragsmoor in the Town of Wawarsing, probably 40 -50 miles away.
DR SUE, I think we all go through periods where we doubt ourselves and the choices we have made. I just cannot believe that this is not what you were meant to do and the universe will make that happen. I also think that the universe likes to test our commitment and passion and therefore these periods of doubt. Just keep saying...2 more weeks...I think I can, I think I can...I KNOW I CAN! (yes, channeling the little engine that could)
Still rainy and like DR SUE and opposite of BERYL, we will have cooler temps (50s, I think) Higher elevations might have seen some snow with this storm. The year I graduated college (1973 emoticon ) in Oneonta, we had snow the week before graduation. My friends and I picked up our caps and gowns walking through snow wearing shorts and flipflops because we refused to give in to the weather.
LORI, I hope your rheumy can help.
NICKY, hoping DH and friends will do some cleaning out or at least scare the little critters away.
BERYL, I know this makes me sound like a very old person, but I am amazed at the entitlement and dare I say, laziness, of some of our youth. I can remember "using" a paper from one class for another, basically just using the research, but rewriting it so that it fit what was required for the second class. Not a big deal. Guess they weren't willing to do even that. Your boss is right; you shouldn't take it personally, but it is so disheartening when the teacher is putting so much into it and the students are not.
KATHIE, as was already asked, is all your stuff in a "pod" or a facility. Wherever it is, thankfully you will not have had to wait long to get settled into "your" place.
A good evening to all!

Peg

Lori, I had a really nice time at camp. It wasn't long enough. It was the impending dread of coming back that had me down. I love my job, mostly, and love my life, mostly. I am always hitting burn out when it gets close to my vacation. So, I know that is part of it. I am going through my own personal and professional crisis. I have known what I wanted to do my whole life. I suddenly feel like I have lost my gift. Not sure how to explain further, starting to cry, so I'll sign off.

Hello dear team,

Dr. Sue, this is new for you. It's like the fall depression that we experienced. I'm sorry that you really didn't enjoy your time at camp. Hopefully, you will soon. How did dh do in the regatta? I'm glad that you two got to spend some quality time together. Wow, Islamberg, sounds interesting. Sorry about all that too. How are Q and Fredo?

Yesterday, we had gale force winds, rain and hail. Still quite windy. The hail was completely unexpected. It sure cleared out the people in the park quickly, lol. It was fun to watch as they play soccer no matter what time or what weather we are experiencing. My massage was painful but expected. Today I see my Rheumatologist, and I will beg him for some injections in my back and hip. I did gain from the holiday and will be back to tracking.

Beryl, today, the narracism (sp) and entitlement drive me nuts. Just for example, my kids, once out of the house and in college, pretty much became independent. I experienced empty nest and I believe that was all normal. Yet only yesterday, my dear friend was on the phone, taking care of her 22 year old's college courses. I'm so afraid that he will not know how to do anything for himself because she does it all for him. The saddest part is he expects it. I believe that we need to train up our kids so they will know how to take care of themselves. If we don't how can they? I hope that the ants are all gone and soon.

Peg, that is a mean, ugly and scary fire. How close was it to you? I hope that it will rain hard enough to put it out. I, too, love your garden. How is Melinda today?

Kathie, things are moving in the right direction for you, and in good time. You have not seen this for a very long time. I'm glad that Sam is getting aquatinted, even if slowly. She will see your love, and the love of Charlie and Annie and be won over.

Nicky, I am so sorry for all of your losses. When you said that the other BIL wanted to visit I thought you meant he wanted to visit his brother who is going through Chemo. You will do fine, the timing isn't great but it will be good for your DH and DBIL to be together. Sending you hugs.

~wishing my team a great day, Lori

Peg, which State park? And holy moly please say you didn't take that in you yard!!

Beryl, I feel like the world is crazy. People expect to be handed things, they do hateful horrible things. My little town of Hancock NY is one of the more diverse places I have lived. Every race and color, in a rural and overly impoverished area. We have a subset of community called Islamberg. They are a Muslim community that came and bought a chunk of land and mainly keep to themselves. Initially the kids went to the public school until they built teir own. Fox News after nine eleven declared that "we have a terrorist cell in Hancock Ny!" So it began- last fall I was up and we were all warned that a guy from TN was being tracked by the FBI trying to go there and kill them. He was eventually intercepted. Apparently it is a group, the FBI called NYState PD and Islamberg to warn there is a VERY credible threat that this group is coming to kill them soon. So state police and members of Islamberg called a town forem, and the police explained these members of our community have never been implicated in anything illegal, but this group from TN is very dangerous. So what to do if you see anything weird. Just sick.

Nicky, it wasn't bad this year, and I was careful. So, if your DH and friends go to the ranch, they will clean the mouse poop up, so it will be clean when you get there? I'm having a little trouble with Y chromosome and the math. emoticon Again, you eat healthfully, maybe too much fat for DBIL, but meals with whole grains, lean protein and veggies should be good.

There were no major disasters today. In fact, my one dental canceled-not a surprise knowing the owner, so I didn't have to come back yesterday at all, as it is my short Tuesday. I did remove a couple of lumps off an employees dog. DH and went out to a very nice sushi lunch, as we have not seen each other in 5 days, and barely saw each other for two weeks before. Never seeing each other, keeps the marriage strong! LOL!

It is cold raining and miserable here. It is SNOWING up North! They didn't get any snow all winter, now in almost May the get it! I hope everyone else is well. I look forward to Kathies continuing happy times and new adventures. Lori, I love the pictures of your gardens. I can't wait to be able to spend time outside. Beryl, you are getting the heat from the south, we are going to get arctic Canadian air, sunny and dry but cold. Can I get off this ride yet?

DRSUE, I was worried about the stupid mice the whole time you were gone. We haven't been up to our ranch(haha) for almost a year!! Although I think it's pretty mouse proof, I don't want to be the first one up there. DH is talking about taking two of his friends up to target shoot, and that's fine with me. I can handle the place in the winter, but I'd rather not go in the summer when the snakes are out. Right now should be the babies, but without much rain, maybe not.

BERYL, I don't know the average age of your students, but I've noticed that the younger people are so entitled and narcissistic; they want things handed to them. What ever happened to work-to-please-your-teachers?
To "earn" a good grade used to be meaningful.

PEG, that looks waaaay too close for comfort. As a Californian, we fear fire big time.

KATHIE, did you use some sort of "pod" moving company, or are your things in regular storage where it has to be loaded up again?
Did you save living room furniture and such so that you can move right in and have a set up household?
Refrigerators? Excuse me for asking so many questions, but I've lived in this house since 1974 and am having a hard time "tidying up."

Good advice about BIL, DRSUE. I eat a higher fat diet than BIL will be able to deal with, so I'll just make the meat and veg and use less fat. I sent him several months' worth of probiotics, digestive enzymes, and ox bile to take when eating a higher fat meal. He says he's using them and already feels better. We'll see.

DRSUE, considering your mood, I hope none of your patient parents act up!

LORI, are you getting the wind? Holy Maloney! It was almost gale force here.

When you arise in the morning,

give thanks for the morning light, for your life and strength.

Give thanks for your food and the joy of living.

If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies in yourself.

Good morning team. Quick check in running home to vote during an inservice day.
Kathie, you made my heart absolutely lift up in my chest when I read your post. Happy! I'm so happy FOR you too. May you go from happiness to happiness now, whatever that looks like for you.
Peg, that is so scary! It looks way too close. Be safe.
Oh, Nicky, I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope your memories bring you some comfort. In terms of BIL--look online for no fat/low protein/whatever food. Grains?? Pasta??
DrSue, I hope today is not as bad as you anticipate (how's that for optimism?) You can do this for 2 more weeks!
Had a meltdown last night over my adult students who are just so nasty and unwilling to work. Talked to my boss who said she sees it too, and not to take it personally. I do. She says we invest so much and they just don't want to see that or invest anything. She said she had 2 students last week who didn't understand why they could not use papers from another class for her class. She tried telling them these were 2 different classes with 2 different learning goals and experiences and all they kept saying was how good their grades had been for these papers.
Everyone is off to lunch at 11am. I just had my frittata! I'll bring back some yogurt and fruit to get me through the afternoon and have some soup when I come home at 3. To meet the pest guy. For my ants!
Got awakened at 1230 by the biggest hail I've ever heard!! And now it's going up to 87 today, with storms, and 59 on Wednesday. Crazytown.
Back to work. Have a good day.

Good morning Team! Raining here and we really need it, not only for the gardens but there is a major fire in one of the state parks near here and maybe this rain will help. Not like those our CA friends endure, but damaging enough and it has been so dry.
NICKY, so sorry about your dear friend and the BILs drama, one for his chemo journey and the other because he just doesn't take care of himself. DR SUE is correct. Whatever you prepare will be an improvement over what he usually has. Probably the no fat is numero uno (DD2 had emergency gall bladder surgery last fall) and then protein over carbs. My understanding is counting carbs is still the way it goes. So, your way of eating should be good.
KATHIE, it makes me happy to hear you happy...of course, a different happiness, but life and optimism and enjoyment just the same. Glad Sam is expanding her feel safe territory and that you and Annie are able to get out to walk.
DR SUE, welcome back. Your reaction getting closer to Boston reminds me of how I felt driving to work after some time off. Just never knowing what (and it was never good) was waiting. Glad the rodent clean up wasn't too bad and the camp is mostly in order. You'll enjoy the two week stay.
BERYL and LORI, I hope all is well. LORI, how did the massage go? The hot tub sounds like just what you needed.
Going to try to frame some small pastels for the show in May. Can't do anything outside, so I should accomplish something.
Sending "good day" thoughts to all.

Good Tuesday morning team, I think. I am home.

Nicky I'm sorry for your loss. It is indeed a tough time for you. My advice-and I'm not in a particularly good mood- an uncontrolled type 2 diabetic has not bothered to make decent food choices for a long time. Anything you cook will be an improvement.

Beryl, I am horrified about the girls. The thing is that people like that are so stupid, that when they post it on line, they have sealed their fate. It sickens me that people find it more important to get it on their call phone verses -um- helping. I'm glad your holiday went well, it's ok that your DD broke down, better out than in.

Lori, I'm also glad you had a good celebration and made new friends. Your garden is growing. How lovely.

Peg, your Garden is incredible. I love the new rock garden and the Quince is fabulous! I am glad you had your dirt therapy. So nice about your mom's house having a new life!

Kathie all your amazing news is so uplifting. Sam is just beautiful. How old id she? How soon will you move in?

I had a nice weekend away. My week before was plain depressing. I got the place opened, de-pooped, out door furniture outdoors, and cleaned up my "gardens". I guess the mild winter helped with the mice, because it wasn't too much of a mess. I did get out for one run, cleaned all the leaves off my decks and it is prepped for staining. That is a May project. I had a decent trip home, but as I approached Boston, I just felt the depression piling back on. I just don't want to know what disasters are awaiting me. All I can say is I will be back at camp in 12 days for two weeks. Have a great day team.

Seeing all of your beautiful gardens and hearing about your new fur friend and newfound happiness, KATHIE, has made me smile and forget my sorrow for a moment.

Forgive me for not chiming in, but I have kept up with your posts and can really feel how uplifted you all are. I will be, too; I just need to settle things in my mind-----life, death, what the he** it all means. I HATE IT when I get deep and philosophical and can't get myself all shallow and fussy. emoticon

BIL has received his first chemotherapy and managed to live through it. Other BIL who lives in Texas wants to come out to visit his ill brother next week. Texas BIL is Type 2 diabetic, uncontrolled at this point, AND, he just had emergency gallbladder surgery last week.

What the heck am I supposed to feed a Type 2 diabetic who can't eat fat right now? Of the macronutrients, carbs, protein, fat~~~~~what am I supposed to do? He can't have too much protein because that, too, can get metabolized as sugar; he has to keep the carbs way down because he's uncontrolled; can't have too much fat because the body is probably pumping out bile at inopportune times because he's just one week post surgery.
I'm annoyed, and I feel guilty because I'm annoyed.

My darling friend passed away on Friday. More sorrowful than when I said goodbye to my beloved dad.

What's fabulous about this life, however, is that the bad, horrible doesn't last forever. Yes, the good doesn't last forever, either, but it is usually followed by periods of............medium............neither high nor low.

I long for just medium. . . .

When you arise in the morning,

give thanks for the morning light, for your life and strength.

Give thanks for your food and the joy of living.

If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies in yourself.

Hi Team, sounds like we are all more or less in a good place. Peg, I love the photos of your garden. Thanks for sharing.

Inspection today. Appraisal on Wednesday. Met w/insurance agent. So many details. But I am happy. Annie & I walked. Samantha is exploring more though she still keeps to herself. An introvert like me.

I am happy;. I thought I would never be able to say that again. Its different. Not what I planned but I am happy to alive and optimistic about my life. WOW.

Hello team,

Kathie I didn't see you post yesterday, we must have been typing at the same time, I am so slow on the iPhone or iPad. Wow, what a beautiful place, the Baltmore. Who lived there? Breathe in all that freshness. I'm glad You and Charlie got out to the new house. A rose bush, yippee. This is really happening, so excited for you.

Beryl, you are right, it is addicting. I'm monitoring myself, one heaping teaspoon a day. I hope that you enjoy your walk.

Peg, they will be so gorgeous, the are already are, in their smaller stage. I'm so happy that you posted pictures. When you do I feel closer. You had a big day already, now time for dirt therapy.

I'm going to the massage therapist today, last night my pain was a 15+, DH and I went to soak in the hot tub and it helped. Thank G-d. Then home to some dirt therapy too. Sprouts had some pretty bowls of different plants on clearance for $1.99. So of course I bought 5.

~hugs, Lori

Good afternoon team. The day has gotten away from me!
Peg, your garden is just lovely!! Enjoy the playtime!
Lori, so nice you made new friends. DD made the charoset and it wasn't good at all, luckily. Usually I have an issue with it but not this time. For those who don't know, charoset is a mixture of apples, wine, nuts, and whatever else you put in. It's made to look like mortar from the bricks the Jews used under Pharoh to build their buildings when we were slaves in Egypt. It can be totally addicting depending what is used in it!
Nice day. I think I will take a lovely walk after work and before WF. DH is off today but can't walk with me. He didn't plan his day well. Go figure!
Have a nice one ladies!

Good afternoon Team!
KATHIE, the Biltmore looks lovely. It's azalea time here and mine are just starting to bloom. So glad you were able to enjoy the beauty there and will be going back. A rose garden? a delightful surprise.
LORI, your fuschias are beautiful. Wonderful that you were able to enjoy a great dinner and new friends. Here are a couple of pics of the rock garden. Of course the plants are tiny, but will fill in. Also a pick of my other purchases that are waiting for me to put in the new shade bed. A pic of my flowering quince. The magnolia may only have lasted a day because of snow, but the quince is lovely.
Hoping all my teamies are having a good day. Went to the gym, ran errands and next up is back outside to play in the dirt emoticon

Hello Team,

Beryl, I'm so glad that everything went wonderfully, last night. Ours did too. once again, the Charoset, was to die for. I knew that my eating was toast when I saw it. She used dates, raisins and nuts. I loved it, madly. I learned a whole lot from our hostess. She is from Israel and married another Jew from the states. His parents were there and they are kosher, yet the rest of us were not. I'm so happy to have found some new friends.

Peg, Candy tuft, I love them but don't think we have them here. The hens and chicks are just like roses, only pretty succulents. Will yours be all green, or have the purple too? Catmint, looks a bit like lavender. Do the leaves smell like mint? The painted fern is so pretty. What color are your phlox and sedum? I can't wait for pictures after you plant. My new friend loves succulents as much as I do fuschia. Speaking of which, a couple new pics:

You are a wonderful gramma, supporting most of your grandson's games, it's ok to take some time in your garden for you.

I've got to get back to my tracking, too much goodness with Passover food. I'm resting today.

I'm glad that the Loser picked up his bike, a good ending. Now to help your daughter with all your love and patience.

~hugs, Lori

Another gorgeous day in the mountains of NC.

Peg, sounds like you had fun purchasing plants for the garden. You need to upgrade to a smart phone so we can see your garden! Hope DGS's team continues to win.

Beryl, loved your FB photos. What a lovely family time. Poor DD has been through a lot and I'm sure the holiday just triggered complicated feelings. So good that she had family surrounding her. For ants try Terro ant traps. I lived in the woods and had to deal with them each spring. The ants take the poison back to their buddies and they disappear. I found ants here 2 days ago and immediately bought the traps. Ants are gone.

Lori your Seder sounded lovely too. So glad you found someone nice and could strike up a friendship with her rather than the other. Guess what, I have a rosebush at the new house. The landscaping is a mess (long story) but they are going to fix it up but I do have a blooming rosebush as well as a white azalea that's in full bloom.

Speaking of full bloom, the azaleas are unbelievable here. They don't thrive in Michigan and I was knocked over by what I saw yesterday at the Biltmore estate:

I went there for the first time yesterday with some friends. I was able to purchase a season pass for a reduced rate. We saw some of the gardens, had lunch and went on a carriage ride.

I plan to go back later this week & spend more time in the azalea & rose gardens. I haven't been inside the house yet. I know its very cool but the grounds! 8000 acres and its incredibly gorgeous. I will take Annie as its dog friendly.

Took Charlie over to the new house and walked him around the development so he'll be familiar with it when we move in. He's not an easy dog on leash but he really behaved nicely. I took more measurements and photos and my realtor & I made a list of things we saw that need correcting. The inspection is on Tuesday and the appraisal on Wednesday. Things are moving quickly and I am anxious to move in. I am happy when I am there. The house is full of light.

DrSue I hope you are having a wonderful time at your camp.

Nicky, hope all is well with you.

Good evening Team!
BERYL, glad all went well. I'm sure the meltdown was just a culmination of all that's happened this week. Glad no one had to see TL. I hate ants! You'll probably hear back on Monday. Love the pics you posted. DGS is playing in a tournament of sorts this weekend. They won both games today and have a third game at 10 on Sunday. If they win that, then there will be more to play tomorrow. and no, I'm not going to those games; too much to do here.
LORI, I'll have to pull the tags as there are quite a few plants. For a different project (in the shade) I got a painted fern, shade loving phlox, a native columbine and lamium and will supplement with some ferns already growing in places from which they need to be removed. For the rock garden, hens and chicks, candytuft, a mini version of nelepta (?)(catmint), creeping phlox, a low ground cover sedum and the rest I have to wait til morning to pull the tags. Thinking I want to find some sort of marker which will say "Shirley's Garden" for mom. Haven't decided what kind of marker, though.
Hope everyone had a good evening.

Peg

Hi team. Despite being up .4 at WI today I ate and drank like I was going to the chair tonight! DD had a meltdown after spilling soup this afternoon, but DS and I got her out of it and all is well. TL got his bike w/o seeing anyone. YAY. Had a great time tonight. I think we went through 10 bottles of wine tonight. Yikes. Kids were good. DS's girlfriend and he are here and staying over, and DD is with other DD. Jo and Ari will like that.
Lori, glad you enjoyed. Enjoy tonight too. That's lovely!
Peg, did DGS have a game today?
Oh, and just to top things off, we have ANTS!! OMG, I'm hysterical here. I hate bugs, as you all know. We've sprayed and wiped and glued and I called the professionals but no one has called me back. UGH
Kathie, how is your weekend? DrSue, enjoy camp! Hi Nicky. How are you?
Off to bed. I"m beat. Have a good evening ladies.

Hello Team,

Unlike, you Beryl, I did eat last night. This time the Seder was delicious. The first time since I've been attending for Pesach devices at Chabad. I even ate the matzo that we brought home. We sat at a table with two couples, with two children, and one lady who got on my last nerve. Any hoo one lady and I struck up a conversation and we ended up exchanging phone numbers. Then she invited us to her home for the second Seder. We will go tonight. I am truely blessed with Chabad and always leave even more blessed.

Beryl, I'm so happy you had a good time. I hope you eat tonight, because the WI is behind you. What a smart idea to bring the bike to your house. I'm glad that Ari and Jo did well.

Peg, now I want to know what you bought at the nursery. I'm glad that you are happy with the new owners making the house their own.

Well I'm off to go to my Rabbi's house for lunch and to visit with family that came in from New York, the Rabbi's wife's family.

~hugs, Lori

Good afternoon Team! A beautiful day and I just got home from the nursery. Thought I'd pick up a few things for the rock garden; walked out $192. later. Drove by mom's house to see if her pink dogwood was blooming and it looks lovely. Saw workmen there so I stopped and asked to look inside. The new owners have totally gutted it and made some changes. It's wonderful! New life in the old house. I'm really happy about that.
BERYL, of course it was filmed and posted because EVERYTHING has to be on social media now. It's almost as though it isn't real or didn't happen if you don't see it on fb or some other site. Well, do you have a "new" bike or did TL pick it up?
Hoping everyone is having a good day.

Peg

Late check in for me . Thank you for all the kind thoughts. it's all so sad. And we hear students filmed it and put it out there on social media. That's what our kids are learning. At home. Not from teachers or responsible adults in their lives. At home.
Peg, so glad Melinda is back eating!! Yay! I'm sure you're relieved.
Lori, Chag Samaoch to you too!
Kathie, I was beyond thrilled to hear the word HAPPY from you. I feel so good about that!!
Our first seder was fun. Jo and Ari were fine. It's just really crowded in my little house. And now clean up is ugly. DH is in the kitchen cleaning up. Most of the food is put away and trash gone. We had another whole meal around Jo's end of the table. lol I ate not much at all because of weigh in tomorrow. I did drink a lot though! Our neighbors will talk about us when they see all the wine bottles going out!! lol
DD brought TLs bike with her for him to pick up. He was supposed to pick it up today, which became tomorrow morning. If it's not gone, it's ours. Over. Done. Idiot.
Off to see if DH needs help. Have a good evening.

OMG, Beryl, that is just so awful and sad. This mindset of children, teens and even adults is so wrong. Sometimes, when on any outing, I hear the parents cussing at the kids and I want to go and slap them.

Shabot Shalom and Chag Sameach. I wish tonight and tomorrow to go well and that everyone gets along. Enjoy, my Beryl.

Kathie, I'm glad that Samantha cuddled with you. How old is she? She and the babes are doing well together and that is so cool. Thanks for explaining about the construction. That is so different than here in California, and for you I'm glad. Here I can't do anything without a prior authorization, and then it has to go to a committee, ugh

Peg, I hope that you are out shopping for garden goodies. I'm so sorry about, yet another fracture and that your Mom has to wear the brace again. Not sure what to say about Melinda.

~wishing my team an awesome weekend, Lori

Oh Beryl, my heart is breaking for everyone involved in such a tragedy. Its almost more that I can take in. Why is it that so many young people don't understand the consequences of their actions? Nothing can bring this child back or ever ease the pain her family will have to live with and the trauma your friend endured. I hope the other students learn from this horrible tragedy and realize that violence does not solve anything.

Peg, sorry about your mom & Melinda. That's a lot to juggle. Hope you get to the nursery this weekend. I love hearing about your gardening adventures.

Lori, we put some kind of screens in the ground before planting the ground covers and the bulbs to keep the @$#*& squirrels from digging it all up. They are just doing what comes naturally but they can wreak havoc on new plantings. My townhouse is new construction and the HOA is not in place yet. So we only need to have an agreement with the development company. We will make a proposal that duplicates the construction on the other until. The agent doesn't think it will be a problem.

DrSue, when do you head to your camp?

Hi Nicky. Hope all is well and you are finding some sunshine in your life amidst all the sadness.

The development company finally signed the contracts so I can exhale. Actually I am happy. Yes, happy. I have an appointment today to sign the mortgage application (I am pre-approved) and we need to schedule the inspection. There are little things that need to be corrected which is usual with new construction.

Samantha is a hidey kitty right now but she joined me in bed at 3 a.m. and cuddled for a while. I know she will need some time to adjust. I am patient but the dogs really want to get to know her better. She's fine with them. No issues but I know she's overwhelmed and confused right now.

Happy Earth Day, my team. I was a mere college freshman for the first one.
Off to class in a little while. Melinda ate like a champ last night and this morning. The birds are chirping and all is right with the world (for now) emoticon
Hoping everyone's day is good.
DR SUE, safe trip!

Oh BERYL, what a tragedy! for everyone involved. I am so sorry for the victim, her family, your friend, the school community and even the aggressors...how could our society fail so horribly in teaching that every life has value and there are better ways to resolve issues than violence...off my soapbox
on a happier note, KATHIE, Sam is lovely. Wishing a great future to your newest family member.
LORI, another apricot lover here. Do you plant the tree or does it stay in a container? What do you do? Betting the squirrels were rooting around in the beds to bury the nuts. Mom always had to put things (plastic lids, netting, etc. on top of her planters because the squirrels would dig. I still love them, though.
Melinda is home and that little sh*t ate the food at the vet. Told them I didn't believe them and wanted to see video proof. Then I was taught how to give subcutaneous fluids. Yup, one more thing...Spent four hours with mom as we waited 90 minutes to get into her appt. Another scan ordered to make sure there are no clots or bleeding in her brain. The scan from last week showed another fracture on C1 (that makes 3 on that vertebra) and she's back in the big brace...forever, I guess. Didn't get to the nursery between mom and Melinda. Will try to get there this weekend.
A good night to all.

Peg

Hi team.
Kathie, Samantha is precious!! Enjoy her.
Lori, I love apricots too. Canned, fresh--any way I can get them.
Such sadness today. A 14 year old little girl was blindsided and beaten to death in a bathroom at a local high school. One of my best friends is the nurse there. She was actually off today, a mutual friend works with her and she caught the victim. They did CPR, she was air lifted out--but she was dead. At least 2 other girls attacked her. Why? Over a boy. My friend said this was a sweet child, not a troublemaker at all. I'm so sad. Our friend, the nurse, has quit. She is so traumatized over this that she cannot imagine returning to school. I'm so sad for all of it. When will these children learn? There were no weapons. Just such hate. And of course they posted it all over social media. As Judge Judy says, they aren't cooked yet. They don't understand consequences. They will now, that's for sure.
I need to hit the gym. Going to do hard muscle pump tonight. And being off tomorrow will do muscle pump then zumba.
Carrot salad done, potatoes roasting, cauliflower cooking, and turkey breast to go in soon. Soups and other things defrosting on my washer downstairs. lol. My fridge down there runs very cold.
Have a good evening ladies. Thanks for listening.

My dear Team,

Kathie, I love Sam already. She has a mustache? How wonderful for you, her, Annie and Charlie. Your new life is just precious. I hope that your car is done soon and the $$$ is peanuts.

Beryl, TB and Boobies, omg, laughed so hard at that one. You are such a great Savta, even toys, of her liking will help. She CANNOT sit through the seder. Hey, it is hard for me to sit through it. Maybe, if you have a tablet, she can sit on some sofa pillows with the tablet and earphones, right next to you. So much cooking Oy Vais mere.

Peg, I cannot wait to see pictures of your art and garden. I do hope that Melinda gets well soon. This has been going on for so long now. I'm so sorry. I, also, hope that things with your Mom go well too.

Yesterday, I went to Lowe's for some mosquito dunks. Because of the rain we had there are so many mosquitos. Supposedly, these dunks don't hurt birds just mosquitos. While I was there my friend came and we did our nursery walk. I got a super dwarf apricot tree, I was and am happy dancing. I love apricots. Now, as long as the squirrels don't get to it. They tore up my raised bed garden and threw the peanut shells all over. I've decided no more feeding them.

~hugs to my team, Lori

Samantha.

Re-named from Skylar. She's named in honor of my DSIL's wonderful cat, Sam, who convinced me that I needed a cat of my own.

More later.

Good cool very sunny Thursday ladies. In the bathroom at 6:03 it was fairly light out. Sunglasses are now needed driving to work. YAY!!!
Peg, good thoughts coming to you today for Melinda and your mom's appointment. Enjoy the reward. You deserve it.
More cooking tonight, and also the set up which I don't do so it makes me nuts. Plus trying to get everything ready for the sub here tomorrow. I need to clean up here too so she doesn't see how I really live. lol
Trying to make a plan with DD about Jo with all the people coming for dinner in the next 2 days. SHe'll get way overstimulated, which then makes her dad really short tempered. Bought her lots of bubbles, so she can be on the porch. She can go upstairs or downstairs to watch TV (or TB, as she calls it). She also likes to watch boobies (movies) which totally cracks me up. I make her say it at least 5 times. Ari will be fine. He likes to go to everyone so he'll be happy being mr social. Still don't know where DD is staying, where DS is staying, and if/where DSs girlfriend is staying Saturday.
Have a good day ladies!! emoticon

Good sunny morning Team! Woke up thinking it was later because it was so bright, but nope, it was only 7:00. Cold enough overnite, though, that the water in the birdbath has a skim of ice.
BERYL, I hope DD let TLNSDM (The Loser's Not So Dear Mother) know that as of a certain date (like yesterday?) the abandoned stuff is going out. Love the "circus" saying and I have adopted it. So much so, that a friend quoted me when saying it. I'll tell her to give you the credit. Glad your student rethought reality. And even MORE food prepared!
LORI, I, too, enjoy "my space". Good thing, right? I have never been bothered by being with myself. Enjoy your breathing room. Your right about the smartphone. Such a simple task to down load pics from my camera and yet I keep putting it off.
Picked up a new book from the library "Quiet The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking" Have no idea how it will be, but I am definitely hardwired an introvert.
Class was good yesterday; decided I wanted to do something in spring colors and I did. Came out ok. My Wed. afternoon class is having a show in May at the studio/gallery where the class is held. There are only 6 of us; it should be fun.
Took Melinda to the vet yesterday and she stayed overnight. She's not doing well at all. Can't get her to eat that food (the new order should come today) and she was getting dehydrated and terribly constipated. Have to call this morning to see how she is doing.
Taking mom to the doc this morning and my reward is to then go to the nursery to get plants for the rock garden. Looking forward to plant shopping, the other not so much.
Hope everyone has a great day!

Peg

Hi team. Ratatouille in, chicken done, cucumbers cut for salad...I know I'm forgetting something. Like my brain.
Lori, we all love you so much!
Peg, I love hearing about your art. I have no talent in that area so I enjoy hearing and seeing what beautiful things you and Kathie do.
DrSue, this weekend, right? Camp?
I love being alone. Just love it. In my robe, walking around in silence, or turning on the TV or music if I want, eating when and what I want...I really enjoy it. Maybe because I'm around people all day? I don't know. I always have enjoyed being alone.
DD says TL left a bunch of books too and he "isn't coming down again to get anything." She texted his mother since that's the best communication she has so we'll see. I told her to just get rid of them. I told her---get ready--it's NOT HER CIRCUS AND NOT HER MONKEYS anymore!! So happy I got to say that to her!!!
I need a life.
Did I mention the student has decided to NOT take any more classes after mine? Good choice as she's barely taking mine.
Off to check my oven. Have a good night ladies.
Oh, and probably refill my wine.

Hello Team,

My Beryl, if your daughter can get the bike outside, she can buy a cheap lock and Mail his mother the key. Not her circus anymore. I'm sure that she will begin grieving the relationship, now that it is over. Even thou it was a bad relationship, it was hers for a very long time. She probably thinks no one can understand her feelings right now. Be patient and just stand beside her as she goes through this process. As far as your student, what wonderful wisdom came out of you. What you said is true whether she wanted to hear it or not. I'm sure that you are feeling anxiety now, with the Erev of Pesach tomorrow night. Yet every year you make it through with beauty and grace.

Dr. Sue, I'm sorry about your stinky morning yesterday. I hope that today is much better. Is your husband away for the regatta? My husband is away, since this morning til Friday. I've rarely been alone since I was 17. I always had a roommate, husband and then my children. So it is hard to have overnights without someone near. Of course I have my kitties and they enjoy the closeness as much as I do.

Peg, a fat bunny, how beautiful. I hope that he won't go after your veges. I love hearing of your garden coming alive again. Please get a smart phone, so you can post some pictures if it as it progresses. Yes you can use a camera but then there is the plugging in, transferring and then posting. Out side, on my patio, today, I have a squirrel, a California Thrasher, some house finches, a woodpecker, humming birds and more.

Kathie, okay now I think I've got it. The sunroom that you want to construct, do you have to get permission from the HOA? Maybe you don't have one, but anything we do must be approved. I'm glad that you are so handy when it comes to remodeling/construction. We, not so much. I'm just so excited for you.

Every day I look forward to seeing what's happening with my team. Yes, it seems as if everyone is coming alive. Peg and Kathie, you have made it through a dark tunnel. Nicky, you will too, in time. Beryl you and your daughter are getting through too. You all mean so much to me. Dr. Sue, you are a gift to many. I know that I sound maudlin but I do treasure you all.

~hugs, Lori

Good morning Team! Sunny, cool and a big fat bunny outside my front door!
BERYL, good for DD going back to her birth name. There will be enough residual from him in her life and emotions. She doesn't need the added weight of still carrying his name around. I hope she just put the bike outside and it's his responsibility now. How so very PC of you in dealing with your student. Really a very kind, motherly sort of thing to say "you need to take a hard look at this 'cause this just might not be good timing for you".
KATHIE, I feel like we are both emerging from a long dark tunnel. Maybe we're the butterfly girls...new life and all. Good luck with the car. Thanking your angels that this didn't happen on the way south.
DR SUE, hope you got to enjoy another bubble bath, this time a proper one with a glass of wine. Just rec'd email confirmation that my order has shipped from Chewy.com so I'm hopeful. Melinda is just not a happy kitty and let me know by not using any of the boxes.
Hi LORI and NICKY and all who stop by. Thinking of both of you...LORI with your own pain issues and NICKY with all of the emotional turmoil of your family/friends' health problems.

Yesterday I planted the snap pea, lettuces and arugula seeds. Had to take the pea support down because it kept being blown over. Will put it back up today. Also constructed the small rock garden from mom's rocks. Won't have time today, but tomorrow morning I'll go shopping for some plants. Moved the "donkey tails" that were in a "holding area' in my main garden from when I brought them home from the xeriscape garden to the new rock garden. Met with the trainer this morning for eval and warm-up. Glad I hauled those rocks around yesterday; don't think I would be doing it today. Just the warm-up was work. I have such tight hamstrings anyway. Pastels class this afternoon and then I'll go see mom. I can't remember who asked about the oils, but no, I am not the only one doing oils. The Friday class is not a pastels class, but more a work in any medium you wish class. Today's class is designated pastels but there are a couple who work in watercolor and another who sometimes works in oils, sometimes pastels. I'm off to fix some breakfast.
A good day to all.

Peg

Good Wednesday morning team.
Kathie, your calm and excitement at the same time just radiates off the page! I LOVE reading about your new home. I can't wait to come stay over!! And I'll be more than happy to be on the sofa in the SUNROOM!! I love sunrooms.
Poor DD is still feeling the effects of TL. He left his bike he was supposed to take on the steps. His mother texted her something snarky when she told the judge she was reverting back to her birth name.Whatever. I de-friended him on facebook cause I don't care what a load he is now. He's someone else's load, not ours.
In crisis mode for Passover. Just not getting enough done. I have my plan now so I feel better. I work better with structure.
Peg, I'm glad you're feeling better. You have so much going on and do so much for eveyrone else.
DrSue, my brother's 3rd vet just quit so they're packing them in with just 2 of them. He's not happy that going into the summer busy time there will only be 2....the joys of being a business owner!
Lori, I love seeing your beautiful patio!
Nicky, you need some light in your life too. I"m so sorry about all the illness for you and DH.
Another text from same student telling me now her daughter is ill.....as opposed to no babysitter, computer not working, and not seeing the assignment. I texted her back that with all she has going on maybe she needs to rethink what's best for her and her family. Was that politically correct enough???
Have a good day. emoticon

Beryl I did a happy dance for you and DD last night. I am so glad the ordeal is finally over.

Peg, I got chills all over when I read that you feel alive again. The winter, the house, moving your mom into care. It was a huge burden. I know what you are feeling. I feel alive again for the first time in nearly 2 years.

Nicky, you can have BR1 but you will have to share. There really is room for all of you. Hope you can find some sunshine with all the dark clouds in your life right now.

Lori the front of the house is the french doors with the big craftsman porch (first photo I posted). I can't wait to buy containers and flowering plants for the entrance. I think it has such possibilities. The back is where the garage is and there are french doors there as well. I am having the patio enclosed into a sunroom so they will open to that & then a regular door will open to outside. The kitchen sink is about 3" deep and the faucets look like they came from the Habitat for Humanity re-store. The cabinets are fine but the countertops are extremely cheap laminate; I might have been able to live with good laminate but this is not. Lets just say it photographs well. New construction has pros & cons. One con is really cheap builder grade fixtures. They can be replaced gradually if they annoy but I want to do the kitchen right away and I budgeted for this contingency. When I was younger Bill & I re-did two old houses before I built the house I just left so I know how to do things as economically as possible.

DrSue, I think I can picture a smelly day. Are you going to your camp this weekend. Hope the weather holds.

My car is still in the shop. Need to call & check on it in a few. They called me yesterday with questions and thought they would get to it in the late afternoon but apparently not. Its OK. I feel peaceful and calm and hardly recognize my calm new self.

Good evening team. Still at work. A smelly day here. I had to go home and take a bubble bath to soak the stench away. Unfortunately, I had to come back to work, so no wine with my bath. Sometimes it's a dirty job.

Peg. I'm so glad you have your life back, it has been a heck of a year. So glad you got to spend the day in the garden. You will make beautiful things grow. emoticon I'm sorry Melinda is failing, but you gave her a wonderful loving second (at least) life.

Kathie, I am so thrilled for you! I assume they accepted your offer. The end unit, a sun room and open floor plan, HEAVEN! When can you start moving in?

Nicky I'm sorry you have so much sad going on in your life. It would be nice if we could have good times together, but I guess that is life.

Lori, yes as others said Dirty dancing and the Jewish resorts are in the Catskills, a bit south of me. Grossingers was the most famous. Not sure if any are still around, as I haven't headed that way in ages. They are east of me closer to NYC. Kind of halfway between my camp and Peg. I'm glad you are enjoying the lovely plants and animals around you.

I spoke with Mom, the Plumber came and turned on my water, electricity and they plugged in my fridge. So, it will be nice to come in to running water. It has been 70-75 degrees there!!! Still in the 40-50's here due to a stubborn sea breeze. It looks so pretty out, then burr.

Off to see last appointment!!! Then home emoticon

Hello Team,

Happy dancing for your DD Beryl. Thank G-d, she's done with TL. I'm glad that your husband was with her, either for support or to keep her from kicking TL's butt. A toast to your daughter's new life.

Nicky, I'm so sorry for so much sadness, you are always in our hearts and prayers.

Kathie, I love your new house. OMG, it's so big and beautiful. I like that the master bedroom is on the lower level. The countertops look like granite. I'd love an aluminum sink because the porcelain does not chip off. Is the garage and porch off in back or in front? It looks like it could be your laundry room. The French doors are your front door or back door? I want to come over and watch you remodel and visit with the babes. Keep on telling and sharing because we all need your radiance that is shining off of your posts.

Peg, I'm not very good at remembering what the curls or other wear of the orthodox. So, no you have not said anything to offend me. Thank you for your description, it was very enlightening. I'm glad that the sunny fresh air and spring helped your Mom. It does me too. Your schedule is filled with so much beauty it makes me smile.

As I post, I'm seeing such precious beauty in my patio. The squirrel and the Western Scrub Jay are taking turns with the peanuts, well the squirrel is cheating. There are tiny little birds, as tiny as humming birds, flying to each branch of the pine tree. They are all making beautiful music for me.

~hugs, Lori

BERYL, emoticon to DD (and you)!

Hi NICKY, glad to see you. You may have to share the bedroom. After all, we're used to close quarters after that trip to NC emoticon

KATHIE!!!! So much sadness around me right now, BUT, seeing your new home makes my heart soar!! Laughed out loud!!
My favorite style home, and positively charming.

Life really is good. Gotta take the shadow with the sunny side or it's no life at all.

BERYL, IKEA retail therapy has got to be healing. DD will thrive now that TL is no longer sucking the life out of her. Like losing a dead weight.

I have no doubt Peg that the sunshine and warmth was soothing to your mom. We all find it so too!
Good vibes needed team. DD and DH texted and called to say TL HAS to show up. So DD called him and told him to get his butt there pronto. They're due back in court at 1215. DH is taking her to Ikea for some retail therapy.
I'm joining you in that wine tonight Peg.
Big time.

Good morning Team! Another beautiful day here and how I love writing that!
Just had some breakfast, finishing up my coffee and then out to the yard.
KATHIE, I've run out of ways to say how wonderful I think your new place is. I second BERYL. The energy and lightness coming from your posts is phenomenal and a great gift for us to receive. Love the pics. A community garden may not be "farming" and doesn't usually mean everyone shares in all that is grown. Most of the ones around here are divided up into plots, some 4x4, 4x8, some larger or with different configurations and assigned/given to a family or individual or group. You can pretty much plant what you like...herbs, veggies, flowers. I've worked to set up a couple.
BERYL, it's probably better that TL isn't there. Waiting to lift a glass of wine tonight for DD. And even more food? It will be wonderful, of course. I, too, wish I was closer because I would be first at your door. Mom was kind of weepy and "oh poor me-ish" yesterday. It was so lovely out that I took her out to the small courtyard. I think the sun, warmth, greening of the trees and hearing the birds helped. She seemed much calmer by the time I left.
LORI, yes, the Catskills were known for that, being called the "Borscht Belt" and Dirty Dancing was indeed about the Catskills. A lot of those places have fallen into ruin and are no longer used. Some have been bought by Hasidics (is that correct) a very conservative sect. During the summer they often are seen walking along the roads and in towns with their distinctive dress and "side curls". (I'm sorry, I don't know the proper name and hope I haven't offended anyone.) In several of the local counties they have built quite extensive "compounds".
DR SUE, I have been mixing some regular cat food with the renal care. Thought the protein might be a little lower in the regular than in the diabetic. This may not be the correct way to look at it, but I figure that half renal is better than no renal and certainly better than high protein. I stressed about Abby. This is sort of like how much more relaxed a parent is with the second and third child...lol. She's starting to fight the thyroid med. If I knew she would eat, I could just put it in her food. Yay, she's still using the litter boxes. Previously you mentioned Feliway. Never saw much of a result with that. I tried it in the beginning. Departure time is coming up quickly.
A big Hi to NICKY, SANDY and KELLIE and all who drop by.

Amazing how much different I feel with the warmer, sunnier weather and the house being sold. Look at me! I'm out in the garden, back to regularly taking classes and I've signed up for a trial offer with a trainer. I think I'm alive again emoticon

Good morning ladies. Another gorgeous, sunny, soon to be warm day.
DD and DH just texted me TL isn't coming today. What a surprise. He's probably hung over and can't get out of bed. Better for her.
Kathie, that place is spectacular. I love everything about it. It's exactly what I'd pick given my choice. What fun you can have making things exactly as you wish for your forever home. And there's lots of extra room for all of us to come and stay too!! The energy jumping off your page is wonderful to experience at this end.
Staff meeting, haircut, then exercise tonight. Leftovers for dinner. Probably start marinating my chicken tonight and cook it tomorrow.
Have a good day team! emoticon

Good morning team. Another gorgeous day in the mountains!

Lori, no in ground garden but I can have container gardens and that suits me fine. The front porch is just made for all kinds of great seasonal displays. I am excited about that. And there is talk about some kind of community garden in the common space but I think that means veggies and I'm just not into farming. I will grow herbs in my containers though. I am so excited to have both sun and shade. And I will move in early enough to have get some things going. I believe you are right about the Catskills. I think Dirty Dancing was supposed to be about the Catskills but was filmed right here at Lake Lure outside of Asheville.

Beryl, I am crossing all body parts for DD. I will shout for joy when you tell us she is finally free from TL.

Peg, yes I believe someone is looking out for me. I have considered Lisa (realtor) to be my guardian angel here. I am so glad she pushed me to look at this development.

OK, more photos Kitchen. The sunroom will be through the two doors at the end.

Looking toward the kitchen from the dining room

Garage and patio (future sunroom)

Floorplan. The detail is not accurate. The kitchen for instance. And it doesn't show the two large storage/utility rooms off the sitting room (studio) but it gives the general layout.

There are some things I need to upgrade but I was prepared and have a budget for what I can do now. Unless its custom construction there are always a lot of builder grade items in a new house. The immediate need is for a decent kitchen sink and faucets. The one in the kitchen is only a few inches deep and the faucets look like something from the 1960s. And since I want to do that now I'm just going to put in granite counter tops and under counter lighting at the same time. Having built a customized house I understand how things work. I am just happy that the kitchen configuration is to my liking and the cabinets don't make me scream. So many kitchens don't have drawers. I want to extend the bar between the kitchen and dining room to make it more useful as well.

This is going to be a really fun project. Honestly I had more fun than I imagined when I built the house in Charlevoix. Now I only need small remodeling (my bath but after the sun room and kitchen upgrade) and decorating. Having a project of this scope without any deadlines is like some kind of gift. I feel better than I have since, well you know.

The dogs are doing better on leash every day. Charlie's progress is amazing.

Hi to Nicky & DrSue!

Hope I haven't bored you.

OMG, Kathie, I am so thrilled for you. I've been trying to post this all day. I think that your new house is so perfect for you and your babes. 2000 sq ft is huge. Ours is 1664 sq ft and we have so much room upstairs, downstairs not so much. So with this unit will you have a garden at all. Of course I would ask that, cuz now I could never live without one. Your team is so excited for you.

Beryl, have you tried getting a crying baby into a car seat? I have and it is way too difficult. With them squirming around it is hard not to pinch them with the buckles. I feel for your DD. I'm so loving all your dishes.

Peg, at first I thought you were talking about Melinda getting the tea, I was so confused. I'm so happy that your grandson won a double header and that you had fun with your friends. I can't wait to see your garden.

Dr.Sue, you are way too busy. I'm sorry about all the traffic while walking Q. Are the Catskills where the Jewish families summer? I thought that I heard my TorahMate tell me that. I will ask her tomorrow.

Tonight my husband and I went to return some things at Walmart, and surprisingly it was Not crowded. We then went to the .99 cent store and I reall scored on garden decor.

~wishing you all a wonderful night's sleep, and hoping for more pictures from Kathie. Can you send us a link to the new house?

~hugs, Lori

Kathie, can you hear me shouting all the way from here? What a beautiful home! Your realtor (and, as Nicky would say, your angels) are looking out for you for sure! You'd never have thought you could have all this, perfectly tailored to your needs. End of May is 6 weeks away!!Perfect timing. You'll have all summer to be in your beautiful new home. So pleased for you.
DrSue, oh no. Full moon?? UGH, the kids will be nuts. Between the gorgeous weather, their allergies, and now the full moon....no good will come of it for sure.
Peg, that tea sounds wonderful! We had some wine yesterday with pomegranate in it and it was so good. How is your mom today?
Did a woggle after work because it was so nice, then our Whole FOods Monday without Ari who refused to get in his car seat. How does an 11 month old refuse? By arching his back and screaming. Little muffin stayed home with daddy.
DH is on his way to DD1 for her hearing tomorrow. She's making TL come up for it (she didn't tell him it was unnecessary, although he could probably find that out) and be there at 8:30 am. Only way that'll happen is if he's up all night. Which means his mother will have to drive him. What a loser. She'll shoot her HR an email tomorrow and he's off her insurance. YAY.
Eating my salad, going to read.
Have a lovely night ladies. I wish you all lived closer so you'd have dinner at my house this weekend!!

KATHIE, an end unit is wonderful! Neighbors on only one side and three sides of light. And new construction! and a studio and open space and...and...and... I can hardly believe it. I wish there was voice on this so you could hear how really pleased and excited I am for you (and Charlie and Annie). The end of May...OMG!!!!! As NICKY would say, your angels are looking out for you. Looking forward to more pics.
DR SUE, sorry about the full moon patients. I've mixed some reg food with the renal stuff. Hoping the ones I just ordered will be more to her liking. At least I'm able to get the thyroid med into her more easily than if it were a pill. And she's using the litter boxes again. emoticon

Bought some herb blends (Greek, pizza and adobo) and a green tea w/pomegranate from a vendor at Garden Day. Made up some tea to have it iced. It is wonderful! My new go-to for the summer.
Hoping all are enjoying this day!

DrSue, its all mine. I agree it does look big. Its the end unit--I'll get more photos uploaded. Its new construction and people are just moving in but I do know that least 2 units have dogs.

Its 2000 square feet--3 bedrooms and a 2 car garage. The rooms are good size but not huge What it has that makes it incredibly nice is a large open room at the top of the stairs. It has a cathedral ceiling and two large window (fabulous view) and the two upstairs bedrooms open off it as well as 2 linen closets, a 9 x 9 storage room. So there is light from 3 directions. That open room & one of the bedrooms will be my studio. The other will be an office/guest room.

I really didn't plan to buy a house this large but finding one with an open floor plan that allows me to have a decent size studio was really challenging. Especially if I wanted to stay in the price range I felt comfortable with.

I had looked at these townhouses online dozens of times since they came on the market this winter. I love the location and I like craftsman style. But most of the units are on a steep grade and have 3 or 4 levels. The garages are really in the basement so the only back door is down a fairly steep flight of stairs and then through the garage and there's no back lawn or patio. Not good for big old dogs. I didn't realize that this one building has ground level garages, patios or sunrooms and a much better floor plan. The online pictures and descriptions didn't spell it out. So I almost didn't go out to look but my realtor checked them out and told me it was worth a look.

Unless I hit a snag I will be in there by the end of May. I am excited. Its nice that its new construction and I won't need to fix someone else's decorating mistakes. You would not believe some of the things I have seen. Anyway my head is spinning.

Peg I'm sorry Melinda is having so many problems. I hope DrSue's suggestion work for her & for you.

Car is in the shop and its after 4:00 so I guess I will be without wheels for a while. They were very busy and I'm new. Called to cancel the invisible fence and got voice mail on both phone numbers. Left 2 messages than sent emails to 2 addresses. I am not going to be here long and will manage. The dogs are adjusting.

Oh Kathie! I'm doing Dobie spins for you. I take it, one half of that would be yours? Have you met the neighbor? Are they good with animals? Can you survive without the invisible fence and save the money at the temporary place? Can't wait to see the pictures. Oh I'm all a twitter for you!

Peg, I did not manage to take care of my bike tires yesterday. Need to get that up on my priority list. The diabetic food is high in protein, and cats LOVE their protein. The whole true carnivore thing. So now you have gone to a low protein food, so it's probably even harder to go diabetic to renal, than from regular senior to renal. You could try mixing both foods and slowly wean out the diabetic food. See what your vet says.

It does sound like Beryl has made enough for an army.

Well, we have gone straight into Full moon mode. The full moon variety of client has been packing my place, and you can't get them out with a crowbar. You know, the new client with an eleven year old dog, rabies clinic vaccine only, not neutered, no preventative care and will never do anything. Yet, when I examined the eyelid tumor to let them know Yes it's an eyelid mass, No it's not a tick, yes I am sure. No this one is growing away from the eye, so it isn't dangerous. 45 min later, they were still occupying my small waiting room. emoticon

Good morning Team!
WOW, KATHIE!! I am doing "Ruby jumps" for you! (Tail wagging just isn't effusive enough) As BERYL said, dare we be happy and think the worst is behind...far behind? Can't wait to see the pics. What do you say, team? A road trip to NC? And Charlie and Annie...jumping for them, too.
BERYL, yesterday sounds like it was a great day. Thinking I should check my bike tires. If this weather continues, I will be on the trails. Have to remember to buy a new helmet. What time should I be at the door? What can I bring? (though it sounds like you have enough to feed the proverbial army)
DR SUE, how nice to have caught up on your sleep. I really enjoyed not having to set my alarm last night. Melinda did like/eat the diabetic food. I've just ordered some Royal Canin varieties from Chewy.com. Called the local vets and was told they wouldn't sell to me, even with a script, because I'm not a client and they "are not a pharmacy". I sort of understand, but if an animal won't eat what his/her vet sells, really? They certainly didn't earn any good will from me.
Finishing my coffee, heading outside and finally made the hummingbird food.
Wishing everyone a wonderful day!

Again, YAY! KATHIE! emoticon

Good morning. This will be quick. Lots to do before my realtor comes to follow me to the mechanic then... (wait, just wait).

Charlie started eating last night. Yea! And Annie has started coming out of the bedroom on her own.

OK, the wait is over. Guess what?

A townhouse. I love it. The location is perfect. Making an offer this morning. You can all come with me now because I'm going to take one more look and lots of photos. I want your opinions!!!

Good early morning team! Little too early for me, but I have slept so much this weekend, I can't complain. Well, I can, but I will try to refrain. It is Patriot's day here in Mass. State holiday, and that means the Boston marathon. Of course I am not closed.

Peg, your rock garden sounds like it will be lovely. I'm glad you have nothing but your Gardening and a visit with Mom on your agenda. Great for DGS starting out the season with a double header win emoticon I hope you find a renal Melinda diet that she likes. Did she like the diabetic food?

Kathie, quick fix to the jeep, with all of us crammed in, I would have thought we'd hurt the suspension, not the breaks. Shows how much I know about cars. Where did you find the kitty, at a shelter? Will Annie go with you?

Beryl, it sounds like you did have a nice day. When is Passover? It sounds like you have it all under control.

I hope everyone has an awesome day! I'll catch up with all you late sleepers later. emoticon

Good late Sunday team. Sun setting. It's 7pm. Love it!
Did muscle pump this morning, then an hour bike ride. Haven't ridden in 6 months and was afraid I couldn't do it, but I was OK. Then we hit a winery for the afternoon. Lovely day.
Lori, you wouldn't have to beg for an invite for Passover--I'd have asked you long ago!
Peg, tomorrow sounds lovely. And ladies, I'm with you on the crusty witch sofa. I also hate folks who walk/bike ride/run on the left when I'm on the right. Do they drive n the left side too?? Yeah, I"m a witch. lol
DrSue, I'm glad you'll be getting away. That sounds way too crowded. And your hour spins are killers, I'm sure.
Kathie, I hope the car is an easy fix. I'm glad it wasn't when we were all in it. Hmmm.....maybe the weight in the back was too much???
Fixed another soup today. Roasted vegetables and made quinoa. Still a lot to do, but I'm chipping away at it.
Hoping Top Chef is on demand. Want to see the finale.
Have a good evening ladies. emoticon

Good evening Team!
DGS's team won both games! I only saw one as I had to get back home to get ready for the wine and cheese fundraiser for my high school. I was there with three other friends so that was fun...the wine and cheese, not so much. Thankfully, tomorrow I have nothing on my agenda except work in my yard and visit mom. It will be glorious! I'll do some maintenance things and would like to work on the garden where I will put mom's rocks and get my snap peas planted. Looking into rock garden/alpine type plants.
DR SUE, a true sign of spring that you are going to camp! I find it very annoying when people talk on their phones so you are forced to be part of the conversation. I don't care what they're talking about. Sometimes I have to fight the urge to make a comment and chime in. So, if you're a crusty witch, I'm right there with you. Small comfort, I know.
LORI, more than one ladybug may still be there, even though they didn't stay where you put them. Sorry your pain level was so high and that your weather is not so nice. I love watching the squirrels; they're so entertaining. I just make sure I put out enough seed for everyone. I've finally seen a couple of the neighborhood chipmunks, too.
KATHIE, good luck with you car. It must have been too much for it, having all of us inside for the trip south. Hoping the closing happens sooner, too.
I hope everyone is having a good day. Tomorrow I have to call around to local vets to find who carries the other brands of renal care food. Melinda is not eating this kind at all. I've given her some regular food so she doesn't starve; she is so skinny. If no one local does, then I will have our vet send a script to an online company and order it that way. Would like to get a variety to see which she likes and would like to not have to pay for shipping, either. Should be in place tomorrow.
A good night to all.

Peg

Lori, my cottage is in New York State in the northern Catskills. Peg went to SUNY Oneonta, which is the state university of NY. It is just about an hour from my place. I can't wait to get off the island, and get back home. (No, marblehead is not an island, but 2 roads in and out, and city traffic if you are not careful, might as well be) yes Marblhead is home, but there is the other home to, and I need a break from here. Even today I took Q for a long walk down the path, it was mobbed with families on bikes, walkers, dogs etc. fine, but when I'm back in NY, I am fairly disconnected. So I was walking at a good clip, and an off leash terrier latched on to a runner, then Quint and I, then the couple with two dogs ahead. The owner was yelling for the dog, yet making no effort to speed up. So other couple with dogs and I just stopped and waited for the twit to catch up and put her dog on a leash. That allowed another woman who was walking to catch up. She was about 20 feet behind me talking on her phone. I am used to being in the woods. I sped up, she sped up quint stopped to be a dog, she didn't pass. I really didn't care about the wedding plans she was discussing on the phone. Ok now you all know what a crusty witch I am.

Hello Team,

Sunny and nasty windy, Ugh. Yesterday my friend and I went to a home and garden show, more so home. It was hot and we were not delighted by anything but hats and ladybugs. I collected about six ladybugs and DH and I tried to put then on my older Neil Diamond. I know that only one stuck. Unfortunately, my pain level was above 10. We, DH and I, still managed to make a pot of Chili for dinner and go out for frozen yogurt. All in all a nice day.

It's not that I'm fond of squirrels, yet they come when we feed the birds. It took years and several different bird feeders to get the one that the squirrels couldn't munch through. Now we, the birds and the squirrels seem harmonious. Kathie, REALLY, WTH, your brakes. I hope that you find a good mechanic thru your realtor and it's a quick and budget friendly fix. I agree with Dr. Sue, buy some baby food meat and see if Charlie likes it. Will your new kitty be an indoor baby?

Dr. Sue, I'm glad that your spin erased some lethargy and you got so e errands done. It must be so hard on you to euthanize fur babies. Yet I'm so grateful that you are so full of love for them. You're going to NY? That isn't were your cabin is or is it?

Beryl, your menu soubpnds delightful and like so much work. If we lived closer I'd be begging for an invite. I think that DH and I will attend Pesach at Chabad, for the community not for the food. The party was nice and Frumi was so happy to see so many who came to celebrate her life.

Hello Nicky and Peg, Peg I, too, wish your Dgs a great season.

~hugs, Lori

Kathie, when I take Q out in the yard on his retractable leash, I feed it all the way out and lock it long. He never quite moves far, unless someone comes up. For Charlie's appetite, try some meat baby food. See if he'll eat it, and then "frost" his food with it. Worst comes to worst, maybe your vet can call in to a vet in NC, or pharmacy an Rx for mirtazapine. It is an antihistamine, but is an appetite stimulant for cats and dogs. I'm sorry about the car troubles. I am happy for you that your closing may be quicker than expected.

I took Quint for a long walk, it is beautifully sunny, but just enough of a sea breeze, that I can't sit out in the yard. emoticon I did also do my spin, only an hour, and I kind of dogged it, I was so tired. I kept the intensity lower than normal, but did a playlist that usually motivates me well. But I did it, ant it burned the lethargy out of my head. I ran errands and had lunch at home before the walk. Of course in my errands I ran into 2 former clients, former only because I euthanized their dogs, and they currently have no other animals. One was six months ago, one last week. Sometimes it is hard. That provided extra motivation to lay low. I saw a FN show this am for a tomato and pasta dish, and have grape tomatoes that need to be used. That will be dinner. I am starting yo organize to go out to NY. I can't believe it is coming. Finishing laundry, etc, for the week. Today seems to be moving slowly, which I guess is good. It's time to join Kathie in the yard with a book, at least vicariously. I hope everyone else is having a great day!

Good morning team. Another gorgeous day today. Sunny but very chilly for now. It will be in the 70s by early afternoon.

Took a bit of break from unpacking & organizing yesterday to explore. I need to learn the roads around here and see what stores are close. I ran some errands then came back to take Annie with me so we could walk. Drove all the way downtown which was a mistake. It was wild crazy busy but we turned around and I parked in a near neighborhood I'm familiar with and walked downtown.. It was all going so well until we left and I had NO brakes. My realtor lives in that neighborhood so I called her & we looked under hood. She found a loose hose. The brakes started working again but the car is making a noise that worries me. I had it all checked out a week before I left and I'm glad this didn't happen on the drive down but I don't need this drama. So I'm without a car today & will take it to her mechanic first thing tomorrow.

Invisible Fence came (handsome young man!!) and they will install on Tuesday morning. Lots of $$$ because of the terrain and the need for an outdoor box for the transmitter. Can't drill through the walls of a rental. But we need it before it rains and I fall down the steep slope. Charlie is strong.

DrSue, do you have any tips on getting Charlie to eat? I bought their favorite food a few days before we left. They were both over the moon about it. Now he barely eats. Other than that he's acting normally. I had hoped to meet the kitty tomorrow. I hope to get the car back. Glad you have had a relaxing weekend. I hope it warms up for you. You gave me a good idea. I think this afternoon I will try to put Charlie on a tie-up and Annie on the retractable leash and sit out on the deck with the book I brought with me. Might not work but its worth a try.

Peg, the garden day sounded fun. I almost stopped at a nursery yesterday but it would be like a diabetic going to a candy factory. I must wait. Good luck for DGS and his team tomorrow and all season.

Beryl, I hope you saved a seat for me at the seder. Your menu sound fabulous. And with DD's divorce finalized the family will have all the more reason to celebrate.

Lori, the plants are gorgeous. I'm so glad you enjoy your garden so much. Squirrels!! Carrie Bradshaw called the "rats with cuter outfits". My BFF in CA loves them too. I guess if you only have one or two its not an issue. They overwhelmed us in the our last house. How sweet of you to give the Rabbi's wife a keepsake box and a beautiful scarf.

Nicky, I'm trying to make this dump as cheerful as possible. Moving furniture to different rooms and removing or hiding most of the tchotchkes has helped. And fresh flowers. I bought a cheap rolling drawer unit for the bathroom. And a handful of those plug adapters so I can plug in 3 prong cords. When my car is OK I will go to Big Lots for a couple of cheap rugs. Those are for Annie. She is not fond of bare floors.

Need to go to the house I'm selling today to help my realtor remove some of the things we had there for renters. It could close early (please cross body parts). I have mixed feelings about seeing it again but I'm OK. I'm really starting to feel better despite the disappointments and the continuing drama. I know things will fall in place soon.

Happy Sunday team. I am upright. Well, there is something to be said for an afternoon martini Friday. I did take Q for a good walk, when we got home, I turned on the TV and woke up 2hours later. I took care of feeding the kids put on a movie and snuggled with Q on the couch. Yesterday, no martini, but lunch after work with friends, long walk with Q. My neighbor popped by for a visit, then crashed on the couch again with my Mr Q and watched a movie. So sleep has been my theme. Today I plan on taking it very easy. I am hoping that it will be warm enough to sit in my yard today. I might make a really nice lunch to savor.

Beryl, I think you have a great idea, get some air in my bike tires and take it to the shop to get tuned up. It needs it this year. You celebration sounds wonderful. How many people do you have coming? Fifty?

Nicky, being a coastal town we too have rats. Living next to the school, when summer comes no more trash up,there so they come into the neighborhoods. It was an issue with having bird feeders. Then Clayton moved in. He is an outdoor cat, mean as heck as a patient, but an awesome hunter. Your workout sounded brutal!

Lori, your new plants look beautiful. Not many diseases that would go mouse to cat. So as long as your cats can't escape from the garage, let them at it. Would they be hunters? I hope your party was nice.

Kathie, my cottage does not have an outlet in it either. I retired my curling iron. It sounds like you have found a new fuzz butt to share your new place. That will make it home! I'm glad you and Charlie were unhurt. I need to make peanut butter filling for Quint. If I make a big batch, I can freeze it and take it to camp. That would make a very happy dog! Now, have you definitely found and met your kitty? Fredo is purring in my lap as I type. emoticon

Peg, enjoy the double header. I hope that it is warm enough for you to bask in the sun. Sounds like you will be gardening soon. I probably won't get started until I am back from the lake. Are you the only student doing an oil during pastels? How was your mom's scan? Hopefully healed up.

I plan on my long Sunday spin when I get motivated. I would love just spend the day reading in my yard. I hope it gets warm. emoticon

Good evening Team! and what a gorgeous day it was! Home from Garden Day; worked from 7:15 - 5. Helped the vendors schlep in their stuff in the morning and helped them back out at the end. There were 3 nurseries there, all with beautiful plants, shrubs and trees. One had phlox that likes shade. I will go out to the nursery and do some "retail therapy". :-) Tomorrow is DGS's first official baseball game of the season and it's a double header. It should be beautiful tomorrow so that will be very enjoyable.
KATHIE, it makes me happy to hear you "say" it's a beautiful day. Little by little you'll make this temp. place work for you. How nice that a new kitty will be sharing your digs.
LORI, the fuschia is beautiful, of course.Must be that Melinda likes new things because she's used the litter box for two days.
BERYL, it sounds like a feast! What time are we supposed to be there?
NICKY, I have those Cathe F videos, too. And haven't looked at them in a very long time.
DR SUE, hope today went smoothly for you.
That's it, team. I am tired. Wishing all a good night!

Good gorgeous sunny Saturday from Delaware! Went to WI (down the .2 from last week), watched Jo at tumbling, did barre, went on a lovely walk, then hit the farmers market and now home, eating, and soon to be napping. DH is off today and is finishing our basement and steps. He removed our shelving, put up a wall downstairs and has shelves down there. He's painting now.
Kathie, it sounds like you're settling in. That's so good to hear. You've had to deal with so many "new normals" and this is just another one, until your "forever" new normal happens.
DGF is coming Saturday night to the seder. What an initiation she'll have then! lol
I'm making so much! Sweet and sour meatballs, brisket, turkey breast, chicken, chicken soup, roasted root vegetable soup, cherry and roasted beet borsht, cucumbers in almond butter dressing, quinoa and roasted vegetables, potatoes and tomatoes......this is obviously not all for one night! lol. That's 2 nights. Lots more sides. And wine. Lots of wine.
DB wants to meet us for dinner tonight, but we'll see. Might just be us tonight. Tomorrow we have a groupon for a winery we really like, so I'm looking forward to that. Plus riding my bike again starting tomorrow.
Peg, how is your mom?
Lori, enjoy the party!!

Hello team,

I'm in the living room, watching the Squirrel, the birds and Gracie, the outdoor cat of our neighbors all enjoy our garden. It's so funny as the squirrel and Gracie have a, somewhat, standoff as the squirrel won't come down to get his peanuts until Gracie leaves. He chatters and I actually love hearing him almost as much as my many birds.

My newest fuschia:

I added more to my very front garden:

I'll be going to Shabot services soon. My friend told me that there is a home and garden event this weekend so we will go there today too. It's still so windy, but hot, during the day and very cold as the sun sets.

Nicky, we don't have mice anymore but we used easy to catch traps where we wouldn't see them die. I hope your heart has happiness today.

Kathie, I love hearing you say, gorgeous as you speak of the day. So you have a kitty coming your way, how very exciting. We changed Livvy's name from Poppy. I often wonder if when DH comes home and I tell them Poppi is home if she remembers 7 years ago to when her name was Poppy.

I have to go get ready for the service. Today, at our Chabad, we will have a Torah that was saved from the destruction of Kristallnacht. Then we will celebrate the Rabbi's wife's birthday. I bought her a pretty scarf and put it into a beautiful box that is also a keepsake.

~hugs, Lori

Good morning team. Another gorgeous day in the mountains of North Carolina!

Nicky, I also shudder with the thought of mice or (eeeek) rats. My BFF lived in Rancho Palos Verdes and the rats lived in the canyons. She's in Rolling Hills Estates now and doesn't mention them. If we ever had a mouse Ceecee would take care of it fast. I think maybe twice. When I cleaned up the garage and the apartment above it for moving I saw evidence of a mouse but no infestation. I hadn't really used the space in nearly 2 years.

Thanks for telling me about how Gunther reacts. Charlie seems to be coping better. The panting episodes are winding down. Annie lives on her bed. We had a long walk in the town yesterday and that made her happy. Invisible Fence is coming at 8:00. I need to do it for their safety and mine. The slope of the property is very steep. I can't imagine how I could manage them on leash in pouring rain. And I hope it will make them happy to be outside without being on a leash.

Lori that's so weird about Livvy. It would drive me nuts. You are lucky DH will take care of it. Your new fuchsia sounds gorgeous. Picture please? Yes, I have to do my hair in the bedroom. I keep the toothbrush in its charger there and carry into the bathroom. Once I get the plastic rolling drawers in there I can keep the toiletries next to the sink. I will survive.

DrSue, so glad its spring on your mountain and you can have running water again. Wow, I did not know the racing season started this early but of course the ocean does not freeze over like the Great Lakes. Hope yesterday was easy and today even easier. No more drama. My new motto for our team. So sweet that Fredo has stolen your heart. One of the big motivators for me to get my stuff organized is so I can bring home the kitty. Someone named her Skylar but she will have a new name her in new life.

Beryl that was so nice of your student. What is your Passover menu? Is DS bringing DGF? I am keeping my fingers crossed for your DD and repeated the "no new drama" mantra.

Peg, that goes double for you. Are you still enjoying your oils? Another reason to get organized is for me to try to catch up in my online class. I took the tiny bedroom so the large well lit room could be a makeshift studio. There is a large bed in the middle but I moved out the dresser. The room is adjacent to a kind of a sun porch that I'm using for storage.

Yesterday I finally got the front room--living room & kitchen squared away and I'm not so crazy. I can find things. The bedroom is next. Then I will go back to working on the makeshift studio. I brought things I thought I might need but don't. And then there are a few things I should have brought. But I will make it work. I need calm and order and I think once I establish that I will be OK. I even bought flowers at the grocery store.

DRSUE, I got the shivers when you mentioned you would be cleaning up mouse poops!!!! that's how I contracted hanta virus up at our ranch. As I remember it, I did use rubber gloves, but I didn't have a mask, and I used Windex and paper towels. Poop was in a thick layer all over the kitchen counters, and a mouse had nested in the silverware drawer. I cried and cried; hated that place. There was no way to mouse proof it. I made sure that our ranch house that we built was completely mouse proof. PLEASE remember me and my plight and take every weird precaution.

It was my dear friend who now has advanced cancer that saved my life. She picked up the children from school for me because I absolutely couldn't get out of bed. She came upstairs to see me and exclaimed, "You look like death!!! You MUST see a doctor."
My DH was so involved in work at the time that I don't think he would have noticed I was super ill.

LORI, do you have mice or rats in your garage? I would use traditional ways to get rid of them and then seal that place up like King Tut's tomb. I LOVE to use that spray foam stuff. You can imagine how paranoid I am about vermin, so I went through a ton of cans of it. If the garage door has a rubber guard at the bottom, I'd get that replaced, too.

We have the occasional mouse that gets in through an open door up there, but that was maybe two times.

Our house here in the city is another matter. The dirty secret of Beverly Hills and the surrounding areas is that we have RATS!!! They live in the palm trees and ivy. We've had several rats in the house over the years, and they get into the attic, but the attic is just for the heater, not storage.

KATHIE, call your temporary home shabby chic and be done with it. I guess you can brush your teeth in the kitchen emoticon and dry your hair in the bedroom?

It takes Gunther about 3 days to settle in when I go to 'nother mother's, even though he's been there before. He pants, runs around, can't settle in, even after I take both dogs on a long walk. Your fur babies are older, so it might take a bit longer for them to get the hang of it. Our babies take the cues from us. I imagine you were a bit disappointed and perturbed when you saw the place. Oh, well. What an adventure. Your novel based on a true story will be a hit!

PEG, let's hope there's no drama for you this weekend and you can get lost in your art. Aaahhhh, blessed peace.

BERYL, good for you that you got a chance to work off your frustration with those students at the gym! When is the end of the semester?

I worked out to a 2001 Cathe Frederich DVD called "Slow and Heavy." OH, MY GOODNESS!! Did we really do that to ourselves back then? I did 66 minutes of "shoulders and legs" and feel like I moved all of KATHIE'S furniture myself!

Gunther was so sweet today. I had some moments of weeping, and while he usually bothers me for attention, this time he just sat quietly next to me. Out of the blue, I just start to cry.
I'm not angry or sad, I don't think----it's like it's just primal.

I wish you all a fabulous weekend with sunshine.

When you arise in the morning,

give thanks for the morning light, for your life and strength.

Give thanks for your food and the joy of living.

If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies in yourself.

Hello Team,

Dr. Sue you brought up a topic that I have had, you said Fredo will take care of the remaining mice. We had mice in our garage and my Dad asked why I don't let Livvy and Henry in the garage to de mouse it? I told him that I would be afraid that the mice may have a disease and I want to protect my kitties. You, being a Vet and all, would be the one to ask. I love when you talk about the regatta, I imagine watching as they all sail around the bay. It sounds tranquil to watch and, for me, frightening to be on a sailboat.

Beryl, how lovely of your student. There is a new show, on the air, called Strong. I'm recording because it reminds me of you and Nicky. Have you seen a commercial of it? All the finest trainers train 12 women to lift weights and to sculpt their bodies. You are so busy tomorrow, you will need your nap.

Peg, I'm so sorry about your neighbor's cat. Well, Melinda is a girl, therefore love new things. My Livvy, does not like her litter box used. She still pees in it but poops right outside it. My DH is on litter box duty because it is quite painful for me to scoop out the cement it becomes. We have trie other littlers but then she does all of her business outside of the box. I'm just grateful that when she does poop, it's close to the box. There is a big problem with this if not found and cleaned up. The box is in the laundry room, right next to the garage door that opens into the house. Then it would be, "oh yuck" as we step right into it emoticon

Kathie, I know that pictures can be deceiving, sorry it's not what you hoped for and I'm sorry that you and Charlie took a tumble. I hope that you both are alright. What kind of human being, does not have an outlet in the bathroom? That is crazy. Maybe when you look for a rolling storage bin you should also look for a long extension cord, sheeesh. The wonderful thing is that you can make sure that your next home is exactly what you want.

It is so nasty windy here. I took down the humming bird feeder as it was flying everywhere into the pine tree. Gusts are strong enough to knock me over and cooooooollllld too. Yes, I did buy something Very pretty at Green Thumb nurseries. Yep, you guessed it, another fuschia. This one is so full, it's colors are whiteish green outside leaves/flower and a pretty purple inside the flower. At Lowes I got some clearance plants and 3 drought tolerant ones to plant up front by my garage. It's too windy right now to do it. Yes, Beryl, tomorrow for Shabbot services, our Rabbi is throwing Frumi ( his wife) a surprise 40th birthday party. I will go to it. But other than that, a relaxing weekend for us.

~hugs to my team, Lori
