Beautiful day at the wine fest. Just gorgeous. Nice wines too. Bought a lovely rose.
Meeting my brother for a pre-dinner drink. Prep is necessary. lol
Kathie, that's such an interesting take on it. Not sure it's valid, but worth thinking about. I was first, my always difficult, high maintenance sister was next, followed 10 years later by the only boy and the baby. I just kind of got lost in the other 2.
Peg, I too could never do cartwheels or anything like that. Was also always picked last in PE--the fat girl....but now we're all grown up and look at us! Hanging upside down holding onto silk!! Way to go Kathie.
Remember the Pooh Bear poem--"you're braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think"----I love this.

Happy Saturday Team! It is a beautiful day today!
KATHIE, holy crap! I am sooo impressed by the yoga picture. Not anything I could do...as a kid I could never do somersaults or cartwheels, but would just fall over to the side. Guess my balance wasn't so good even back then.
BERYL, sorry the drama started so soon. I think KATHIE might have something there. Our mothers feel secure in our love and so can "act out". Sort of like the little kid who shouts "I hate you" to his/her mother. I still don't like it, though.
NICKY, enjoy your time with 'nother mother. I'm sure Gunther will settle right in.
KELLIE, glad you got the paper sent off. One less thing to weigh heavily.
LORI, enjoy your garden. I have to go out and clean up the remaining plants, put the gardens to bed for the winter and plant my spring bulbs.
DR SUE, hoping all is going well and the new kitten is doing well with Q.
Have a great weekend!

Peg

Nicki, glad that you are enjoying time with your 'nother mother'. It sounds like you have a lovely relationship.

Beryl, I'm sorry you have a rough relationship with your mother. My take is that she loves you more than your siblings and dishes it out to you because she knows you love her the most and will always forgive. Someday you won't have her and you will mostly remember the good. Yes, I hang upside down. And my instructor thinks I am pretty strong for my age (66). But I need to get stronger. Physically, mentally and emotionally.

Enjoy your time Nicky. You're a good person, for sure.
Kathie--is that YOU?? Oh my gosh. You hang upside down?? I'm seriously impressed. And holding yourself up? You are very strong.
Drama already starting with my mother... why oh why is she so comfortable being nasty to me? She'd never speak that way to my sister or brother.
This'll be over soon enough, thank goodness.

KATHIE, we're here whenever you need us----all of us.

I'm at 'nother mother's, first day. Gunther has been a bit of a brat, demanding attention, so focused on food of all sorts. HOWEVER, Muggles is doing well with him, AND, 'Nother has already fallen in love with the imp. She thinks he's a "character."
In a couple of days, I'm sure he'll settle in and stop being so hyper.

When you arise in the morning,

give thanks for the morning light, for your life and strength.

Give thanks for your food and the joy of living.

If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies in yourself.

Thanks everyone. I do appreciate it. Kellie, I live in a rural area. The nearest town has 3000 people. I drive over 50 miles to a town large enough for a big box store. Angie's List is useless here, just a waste of money. Everyone knows everyone but all the men and boys go hunting all fall so even if you know someone good the chance that he's going to show up any given day is low though I know my chimney sweep will come today. He's reliable.

I am on a really tight budget right now. There is so much uncertainty. My one indulgence is aerial yoga. I figure that even though I only make about $100 a week at the store this time of year that I can spend $20 of it on 90 minute yoga class where I can spend a good 30 minutes hanging upside down. Inversion helps the brain. I'll have to post a photo.

It has finally stopped raining and the woods have dried up so I can get a lot of yard work done this weekend. It will be good to be outside. It makes the dogs very happy and its peaceful. My life is so full of stuff that has to be done and I need some time to just grieve.

Good evening team. Made it through another day.
Kathie, please let us know how you're doing and what we can do to help, even if it's just listen. We're all so pleased you're back and so sorry for your loss and what you're going through. Please stay.
Kellie, YAY!!! You did it!! Rest, relax, and there's time to revise and revisit it as needed. The biggest part is done. emoticon

Kathie, i think of you so often - please keep writing your thoughts and feelings to everyone - i think it will help. We are here. I am so sorry for your loss - thinking of you. I don't know if you have Angie's list, but they are a good source for reliable people who might be able to help - handy people and contractors (you can search by price too)...there's one more too, that i can;t think of butwill remember - stop as little or as often as you like...we are all so busy, ...

Hello Team,

Kathie, I know it is so overwhelming, I wish we could come and be of help. Something else to keep in mind, remember that we all spoke of the depression that comes with fall. While you are in the height of greiving, it is most likely peppered with Fall gloom. You will get through this, there is a light at the end of the tunnel, even if you only see it flickering right now. ~hugs

Beryl, you are facing a difficult weekend, I hope that your Mom does okay. You are so strong and for good reason, the whole family depends on you. I do hope that your back feels better and soon. Sometimes stress shows up in our body parts.

I wanted to share something, that works, with my team. During Omni, especially the life phase, we have to watch the scale vividly. If I gain more than 2 pounds, over the last day of drops, then it is a steak day to reset my body. This may sound ridiculous but it does work. Eat nothing all day, drink tons of water, then for dinner, choose the fattiest ribeye steak, 1 lb at least. Sear it in butter, season and I pop it on the bbq. Eat it all, including the fat, UGH! One hour later eat an apple, I eat the biggest Fuji I can find. Then do nothing but drink lots more water and when I get on the scale the next morning I lose up to two pounds. Then I usually stay there and under for a week or so. It's science so I don't question it, just enjoy the results.

I've still been getting the bad stomach ache, almost every day now for a week and a half. I saw my doctor yesterday and he suggested Mylanta. I told him that I use the heating pad and it seems to help. He was questioning if it were muscle pains as opposed to Ulcer like pains. I took the Mylanta last night, but it didn't seem to really help. Oh man, my body can't seem to catch a break.

Hello to the rest of my team, ~hugs, Lor

Dr. Sue, I'm sorry to hear about Starbuck. I hope Fredo brings you a lot of joy.

Over my head with "stuff" here. The hinge is falling off the closet door and I can't seem to get it screwed in. Having difficulty getting firewood, We've had a hard frost and there is much cleanup. Some of the outdoor furniture is too heavy for me to move alone. The dock. The gutters. Will have to hire people to do things and then I worry about the money. I feel so overwhelmed dealing with endless to-do lists. Stuff breaking that I don't know how to fix. This on top of bouts of incredible sadness that alternate with times of total emptiness. So if you don't hear from me for a while its because I am having too much trouble coping with all this.

Good early morning team.
Not a good night--My lower back is killing me and even turning over hurt. I got up at 2:30 and dry swallowed 4 ibuprofen. But now I'm up and it's ugly. I'm sure moving will help me today. No classes tonight--maybe a walk. I guess dance fusion and zumba right after the other isn't a good plan.
Lori, your garden sounds lovely! How do you feel?
Peg, the unveiling is this weekend. Let the drinking begin! I already have a plan for after it on Sunday. lol My mom is already a mess. How is your mom?
DrSue, how do you feel?
Kellie, are you getting a lot done on the paper?
Nicky, when is the wedding? Soon, I think.
Off to work soon as my tea is steeped. Have a great day team! emoticon

Hello Team,

Where art thou? Hopefully, off doing great things and being happy.

I did some gardening, yes, more gardening. I got some more white trellises for my Bouganvilleas. My garden looks better every day. It should for the amount of time I spend in it.

Lori, The fish passed in August a day after we lost Sunkist - it was odd - Sid was the fish - he was about 6 inches - looked like natural causes - so now that Sunkist has Sid with him, so now we have a kitten we named Sid - all sounds wacky! Everyone has a Sid!! We like the name!

-----

Out on time today! Lots of work this evening for school - ill take a quick nap and get started - have a great evening team

If you parboil them first, they won't just get hard, they'll roast. But the house will smell. Boil lemon juice and water in the microwave afterwards to remove the smell.

so, I love roasted cauliflower and broccoli, yet our house stinks for hours, just like dirty diapers times 10. So I cooked them on the BBQ and they were still hard. I bake at 400 for 40mins in the toaster oven and they are amazing. So, today, I did it on the BBQ AGAIN, GOT THE HEAT UP TO 400 and cooked for 40 mins. They came out like charcoal. I need some help here.

4 cups of Cauliflower and broccolli, 1/4 cup olive oil, (tonight I sprayed with olive oil spray), 1/4 cup fresh Parmesan cheese, grated. Mix it all together and bake at 400 for 40 mins

Help please

DrSue, so glad you were able to finally rest and catch up on some sleep. How is your neck and back now? You think you didn't do much while you were away, but it sounds as though you did. So happy to hear about Fredo (thinking the Godfather....)
Had our wine and cheese. Enjoyed it thoroughly. already planning our weekend....
I have a wine fest Saturday, then Saturday night our dinner out with my mother, sister, niece, brother, SIL, nephew, and DD2. There WILL be liquor. Sunday is the unveiling. THen brunch. Then I am thinking a winery with DS, then taking him home to Philly, where we'll get dinner to bring home at a little hole in the wall Greek/mediterranean place.Yum to falafel and Greek salad!
How pathetic I'm excited for all that....
Have a good evening team. I'm so glad most of us are here again.

Dr. Sue, I'm so excited about Fredo. I was hoping that you would get him. How did he do on the drive home? I just saw a video, on FB, about a big dog and a kitten. It was just like you explained, they were both on a soft rug. The kitten didn't want to play but the dog kept on pushing it with his nose. It was hysterical and finally he pushed the kitten off of the rug altogether.

I'm glad that you are feeling better and am so sorry about all the pain. You are a good daughter, thank you for sharing that story with us, ~hugs

Nicky, I love your dragonfly story too. It gave me goose bumps. I talk to my Mom all the time, especially when I'm hurting or scared. My life phase of Omni is going great. I'm so disciplined now. I pass up sugary treats right and left. Unlike me. I have coffee and a smoothie, with greek yogurt for breakfast, and apple and string cheese for lunch and then 3-4 oz of meat, lots of veges, cooked with real butter and cheese, salad, real Newman's Own dressing, (2 TBS). Snack, popcorn, apple with 2TBS of Almond Butter. I think of you every time I eat my beloved Almond butter, lol

I have to run, I'm picking up my friend's daughter this week as she is on vacation. I'll finish when I get back. ~hugs

Okay, I'm back now. Peg, sorry about the frost. I do think of you every time I love on my Bouganvilleas. I know that the one or two days we get frost I will cover them for sure. I loved hearing of your father helping you with your mother, that is so special, I lost my Mom in 1976 and I know she listens to and helps me too.

Kellie, so sorry about your beautiful fish dying. It seems as if you just put them out in the ponds and now your bringing them back indoors. You know what this means that you have been with us in this Team for more than a year, whoosh, it does fly by. I, also, wanted to tell you that my DH's tank is a death trap. Sadly, more fish have died than lived in it. Well, not really but everything was going great for several years. Our plecostomus(sp) was about 6 inches or bigger, same for the garamies and Angels. Then, Pleco, as we called him died, months later they all died but on garamie. He keeps treating the tank, keeps it super clean but this weekend two bala sharks, two cat fish and one tiger barb bit the dust. He will listen to me now and not purchase more until he can get this water right. Jsssssh!

Beryl, cheese is healthy for you. But you already know that. Last night DH and I shared some peach sparkling wine, so yummy.

We need Heidi back and then our team will be back together again.

~hugs, Lori

So my Saga was that after I lost Starbuck, I started having neck and back pain that progressed to back spasms. I has a massage that helped, and spasms in back stopped, had another massage before I left, and it made the neck worse. Heat, pain meds, anti inflammatories it gradually improved. I hadn't slept well in that whole 2 weeks, so by the time I got back to NY, for vacation I was exhausted beyond comprehension. It took the first 9 days of my vacation to sleep and function. I pretty much did nothing. I read 5 books, but little else. I have a million projects to work on there I finally accomplished painting the porch ceiling. Needless to say, I finally felt really good and was starting to rest when it was over.

We had flooding rain one night and my driveway ended up in my lawn (again). I did the essential repairs myself. We as a group of houses had major roadwork done this year, so he was coming back to redo some of it.

However, the woman who helps my parents with the house, has a horse farm. Where there are barns there are cats. She had 2 kittens, plus many others. I went down The first Friday without carrier, and met the cats. I think I knew then, but it sort of turned into a circus, horses, dogs, goats, family. They did not want to see me leave empty handed. I did, and thought about it for a few days. I called her and told her which kitten I was interested in. She apologized and said we will do this very differently this time. It was quiet, he was in my arms purring and home he came. He used the litter boxes right away. He is getting used to the dog. He actually likes the dog, Q needs to be gentle and quieter with a baby. Starbuck had set the ground rules before. Quint just doesn't know what to do with a baby. So instead of laying down and letting the kitten come to us, he hears him purr or meow and runs up to him. 95 lbs vs 4lbs. Fredo (kitten) looks up and tries to escape. He is fine when he is up on something.

I guess that's a synopsis of my missing time. I has great weather mostly, some warm to hot days. Then Sunday a snow squall came across the lake. I told Q, "it's snowing, so we are going!" We were heading out that day anyway but did not need to go that early, but....

I did not track, I ate pretty poorly ( think bag of sourdough pretzels and onion dip). I did exercise, but not like me. I am sure I gained and have my annual PE Thursday. Oh well. emoticon

Phew! I caught up on a lot of missed posts.

Kathie, everyone's grief and mourning are different. Don't be hard on yourself, it is what it is, but it will get better. I remember the bishop saying to my DH at my bothers funeral, "good people can say some pretty stupid things." Important dates still can be like an old scab opening. While I was at the camp this passed trip, I went out kayaking on a spectacular fall morning. I had been up for a few days. I suddenly realized it was Oct 9th. 14 years ago at about the same time of day I got the call my eldest brother was dead. His birth date is Oct 10. It is one of the reasons I go to my place there in Oct. I love the season, but it always seems to help my parents having me around. Most times now we don't even bring him up, we are just there together. Funny, they took me out to dinner on the 10th. It is good you have a friend in a similar stage of life. Your art will help you. I can tell even by your description of you table project. I hope the house showing went well.

Lori, you look amazing! Glad you got to connect with friends at the reunion,

Peg, glad DD is doing better day by day. Sorry about the mom issues. I had fully planned on trying to have you an Ruby come out, but I couldn't get out of my own way. I'll fill you guys in on all that later.

Kellie great on your determination to finish up school in Dec. Nicky, I so understand you having nightmares about Bryce. I am increasingly paranoid up in NY, because of what happened to you. We have rattlers there, but the numbers are down so much from when I was a kid I kind of took them for granted. As far as reliving losing a pet, I'm there too. For me I get the additional guilty feeling of not being able to save my own pets. What kind of vet am I? How could I not dissolve Starbuck's clots and fix his heart? Not a logical reaction, but there it is. Nicky, it's funny you brought up Gettysburg. DH and I met there at Gettysburg College. It is truly haunted, and haunting.

Beryl, you always do such amazing fun stuff! Is it Jo's parents adopting the pit rescue? I would be nervous too. Don't get me wrong, I love adoptions, but you need to take great care. With breeds like pit bulls, rotties, and even my beloved Dobes, you need to be careful. I hope it works well. Sorry the teenagers are runny you ragged. I think you nailed it, you get the flu shot to protect yourself from all Jo's classmates. Last year, I skipped the flu shot, my DH got his as he does religiously does. Guess who go the flu? It wasn't me. Even taking care of him. I think I am probably exposed to everything. Isn't it great, I have clients come in for routine stuff with cranky child in tow on a school day. Oh yeah, he's home sick from school. Thanks for sharing your cooties with me.

Ok enough for now. I'm being more of a chatty Kathy, than Kathie!!!
I fill you in on my stuff later. The good news is we have a new furry feline in our home. Later emoticon

YAY! DRSUE IS BACK!! You were missed, especially by ME!!

LORIE! You are positively too young and gorgeous to be a grandma! Wow! Did you ever rock that dress, or what?

Are you still OP with the Omni Diet approach? If so, what does your maintenance look like?

Indeed, KATHIE, don't hold your breath. That showing could be called a dress rehearsal.
I'm sure your creativity and artful soul are reflected in your home.
When we had our first cabin on the market, I filled each room with vanilla potpourri. The husband of the buyers commented to me that he LOVED the way the place smelled. Don't know if that had anything to do with the eventual sale, but I'm sure it didn't hurt!

KELLIE, I'm staying OP for sure, even though I'll be going to my 'nother mother's on Thursday. I do all the cooking, but I tend to over eat there because I don't get enough sleep, and it's rather stressful.

I'm working on the assumption that Gunther and Muggles will get along as well as Bryce and she did. Gunther is very gentle with the little dogs we meet on our walks, and I've not heard him growl since he's been with us.

PEG, I, too, "talk" to my daddy. I have what could be called a "spiritual" connection to dragonflies. I love them; I study them. In some cultures, they represent the souls of our dead ancestors. I was walking and boohoo-ing up at our ranch after he passed away. A sole dragonfly buzzed me and followed me for a great distance. It was so odd because it was way after dragonfly season. I got so much peace from that event. Now,whenever I spy dragonflies, I just smile. . .

I wish I were a minimalist when it comes to packing. NM (nother mother) lives in Santa Maria, a very temperate climate; HOWEVER, it's very cool in the mornings and nights. I've packed both short sleeves and long sleeves, shorts and leggings. It's all in a carryon, so maybe I haven't over packed, but I so admire people who can fit their cosmetics, shoes, clothes AND jackets into one carryon.

Very motivated to shed these last vanity pounds because of that upcoming black tie event and that really fitted dress. Too bad I can't be that motivated for no reason at all. What is that all about?

Going to take a walk before I start work~~~~Part of my Me-First-Campaign.
Even gave myself a clay facial last night!

When you arise in the morning,

give thanks for the morning light, for your life and strength.

Give thanks for your food and the joy of living.

If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies in yourself.

It’s Monday ! Yesterday we brought the pond fish from the top pond in…tom will being in the bottom ones. It is very cold in PA – here comes winter – time to get prepared. They all looked pretty good – we did lose one in August – our largest fish…it's always a surprise when you don't see them up close. There's a small fish in the little pond that changed color - i am looking forward to seeing what he looks like!

Peg, glad you got to catch the game and hope DD mends quick

Nicky, thanks for your sweet comments – I felt like a million when I read it.

Lori, love the pic, glad all went well .... the garden looks amazing too

Kathie, hope you get an offer!! Your fitbit plan is a great one with the 100,000 steps. Leslie is very perky! I hear you!

Dr. Sue, thanks for checking in - I hope your stretch is over

My plan is to stay OP today and Aps. Have a great day !

Good morning Team!
First frost last night...ughhh
DR SUE, it is very very good to hear from you. All of your teamies were worried. Hope your time at camp was enjoyable.
LORI, you looked beautiful! The night of the big gathering is always overwhelming. It's nice that they planned a smaller event, too.
KATHIE, fingers and all other crossable body parts are crossed for the house. Thinking DH is trying to help you out here. I have a couple of instances where I've asked my father (died in 1975) for some help (particularly for issues with mom) and things have worked out. Just know that we are all thinking of you.
BERYL, up 2, down 1, up .5, down 2...isn't that the way it just seems to go? Although mine just stays in the plus column. Saw Dead...what do you think about Gabriel?
Hi NICKY and KELLIE and HEIDI (wherever you might be)
Hoping everyone has a good day.

Kathie, I just missed you, or we posted at the same time. I'm so glad that the showing went well and that you got through your very long day. Are you on FB? Peg, Beryl, Kellie and I are. Let us know so we can send you our "true Identities", lol. Thank you for your compliment.

Oh Beryl, sorry about the 2 pound bump, but luckily we know that you will lose it soon.

Good Sunday evening team. Waiting for Walking Dead to come on. Watched AHS this afternoon. Jeezy.....
Eating my soup for dinner. Up 2 pounds and NOT HAPPY! Too much salt last night, certainly too much wine--but it's got to go!
Lori, your new picture is stunning! Those folks at the reunion must have thought you were someone's daughter!
Kathie, a lot of us are friends on FB, so no, there is no specific FB page, just following each other there. Are you on FB?

Hello Team,

Kathie, I'm sorry that you had a difficult day. I agree with Nicky, it was interesting that the house showing and your first meeting with Bill were on the same day. So many hugs to you~

Hi Beryl, Peg, Kellie and Nicky. This has been a busy weekend to say the least. The reunion wasn't so great. It was like herding cattle. Way too many people for such a small space. I recognized about 5 people out of a sea of more than 250. DH enjoyed himself and that was nice, the 5 people that I knew were amazing too. Today we went to a picnic on the front lawn of our HS. That was nicer and more intimate. DD did an amazing job with eye make-up and hair. I want to buy one of those curling irons she used. It is just a curling rod with a 2in clip for the ends of the hair and then it automatically curls it up.

Now I am resting, much needed, and gonna eat as the last two days I didn't eat very much at all.

~hugs, Lori

LORI, I hope it's a blast. And, yes, no doubt you'll be smokin' hot! Rock that outfit!

KATHIE, interesting, isn't it, that the house is being shown on the day you met Bill?

KELLIE, you're in my thoughts because you have so much on your plate, and you're doing really good work. Keeping the arts alive is so important. There's so much sadness around us that we sometimes forget about the beauty around us.

I've mentioned this before, or, if not, I've thought about it----the Vietnam Memorial seems to be alive, just as Gettysburg reverberates with the souls of all those who perished there. Haunting is the best word I can think of right now.

DH went up to our ranch(haha) this weekend, so Gunther and I are flying solo. I like the break from the routine. Treated myself to a new yoga mat, too! Gunther is not a very good shopper, but I plied him with dried liver treats, and he managed not to create too much of a ruckus.

Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend. Gosh, where the heck is DRSUE? Anyone contact her?

When you arise in the morning,

give thanks for the morning light, for your life and strength.

Good evening, Team!
KATHIE, hoping something good comes from the house showing and that you made it through today intact.
LORI, definitely share the "sexy" secrets that your DD knows. Your fb pic stylin' the new hair is beautiful! Have fun!
BERYL, have a great dinner with friends tonight.
KELLIE, as far as your school goes, I hope Dec. comes quickly. As for me, I hope it stays away.
Hi NICKY and DR SUE!
Went to DGS's last baseball game(s) today. They had a double header and the second game went into extra innings. It was cool and cloudy and right at the end the storm moved in and it was cold, very windy and rainy. Apparently it didn't do anything at my house; the roads were completely dry when I got home. DD2 is feeling a little bit better every day and that's how it goes, I guess.
A good evening to all.

Kathie, good luck with the house showing - fingers crossed. A hard day, write back if you need to here.

Hi Ladies, a day of writing thesis and doing wash. All the cats are napping and I'm hoping to get out for a short walk. I write about abstract art and memorials - writing about the artifacts at the 9/11 memorial that survived. Almost done, but a bit emotional on all levels. These stories are inspiring and sad. I took a two hour nap :) guess i needed the sleep.

The kittens greet everyone that comes in the door - today the pest person - lol! They love to chase the 12-year old around the house - he seems to enjoy it! ha ha

I'l make sure i am OP today and get in some APs.

Talk soon, Kellie

Going to a friend's for dinner tonight. I'm bringing shrimp and fake crab for apps. I will hopefully fill up on that cause I don't know what his dinner will be.

Kellie, that's great news.

Lorie, do you have an event coming up? Let us know what DD does to make you look sexy.

Peg, glad DD is doing good.

Painting project has moved to the back burner. The house is being shown this afternoon. Its raining and extremely windy. The house is clean but I need to wash the floors and shine up everything. And I need to try to clean up what I can in the yard. And go out to the dock because the glider is hanging off the dock. Its tied and can't fall into the lake, at least its supposed to be tied. Its about 40 out there. Hardly an ideal day for show a lake house. I have a feeling this will amount to nothing but I need to go through all the motions. Then working tonight until 9 so my day is not a good one. .

I met Bill 40 years ago today, on Oct. 18, 1974, He recorded it in his datebook. I remember it like it was yesterday. I don't know how I'm going to get through work without falling apart. But I hope everyone else has a good day.

KATHIE, the duck egg chalk paint sounds marvelous! Are you using Old White and/or grey, too?
Is it more subtle than the old way we used to "Tone and Tique"? I had EVERY PIECE OF FURNITURE I owned as a single person antiqued because EVERY PIECE OF FURNITURE I OWNED was from the Salvation Army or second hand store. LOL! Black base coat with gold rub after. I think there were even sets where one needn't decide what to use as the top streaking color. Fun for you.

My step mom went to a Grief Support Group and made lifelong friends. The provided the support and understanding none of us could provide, even me (He was my father, after all). It's wonderful that you have a friend fellow traveler.

PEG, I certainly hope DD will follow the healing orders! We women have such a hard time just letting the healing process take the time needed. Why is that?

Shed 2# this WI, so I'm right back to my Tracker, which I hadn't bothered changing.
Looks like it will have to be another round of the Super Model Diet to lose those 7 or so vanity pounds. That's 1/2 c sauerkraut and a 1/2 lifesaver for dessert. emoticon
The dress I'm planning on wearing for the November 15 affair is just a little too fitted at the moment.

Good OP weekend for everyone!

Back to report that DD2 is at her home and doing well. I hung out for a while, made sure she could take a shower and dress herself and helped her put some clothes away. DSIL will be there tonight. He was there when she got home, but then had to leave for his second job. No driving for a week and no lifting or bending for 4 weeks. So, she has a 26" grasper type thing and that's what she'll use to pick up anything she drops. That's what she used to hold her pj bottoms til she could get her feet in them and then pulled them up with it. Her cats were very glad to see her.
BERYL, inservice, paid for and short is definitely win-win. Hooray for you.
KATHIE, I like the sound of your project. Looking forward to seeing a pic of the completed table. I, too, would trade some rain to LORI for more growing time.
Hope everyone is well.

Kathie, I'm glad you have some positive things going on for you. When is the art show? Let us know how the painting went.
No kids today, it's a conference day. Doing paperwork I've been putting off. Didn't make it easier but it's done. YAY. Inservice day at the University tomorrow, but I'm paid for it and home in time for my nap!! Win/Win!
Gorgeous day here. Just spectacular. Still a teeny bit warm, close to 70, but gorgeous.

Good morning. Peg, I hope DD is out of pain. Is she going to stay with you?

Lori, how nice that you can garden in Oct. Its fall clean up season here but its too wet to do it yet. Wish I could send the rain to CA.

Kellie I have a Fitbit too. My goal is 100,000 steps a week. I did really good last week but this week its been harder due to the rain. There is nowhere to walk indoors here. The nearest mall is 55 miles from here and I cannot face walking around Kmart for an hour. I have a Leslie Sansome DVD but have been resisting it. She's a little perky for me right now.

Yesterday was busy and exhausting. I took a car full of art and items for the holiday gift mart to the regional art center. The director selected 8 artworks for the gallery and took the entire box of scarves, table runners, bowls etc. for the gift mart. She even completed the inventory form for me. And she gave me good feedback on my art pieces. She has been wonderful to work with over the years and she is sure I will find representation in NC. She lived in Raleigh for several years and got her MFA there.

Last night I went to the movies with my friend who was recently widowed. We saw the Woody Allen movie with Colin Firth. It was sweet but there were parts that were still a little touchy for each of us. I'm glad she wants to get together because we are pretty much on the same page & understand what the other is going through. Rotten though it is.

The rain here has morphed into drizzle and I was finally able to get out the leaf blower and clear the decks and walks of leaves and the blanket of dead pine needles. As soon as it is drier I will attack the yellowed hosta. So much to do and its no fun doing it along.

But I have planned a fun project for myself. The backstory is that I like the layout of the NC kitchen. Its smallish but not cramped. The countertops are black granite, not the color I would have chosen but I'm not replacing them. The cabinets are builder grade. They are an innocuous style but I hate the yellowish oak so I am going to paint them. I have been reading about chalk paint & am intrigued so I am going to paint a small table that was my grandmother's. Its on old thing painted black with gold trim and could definitely use a facelift. I bought "duck egg blue" paint and clear and dark wax. I can easily set up a workspace in my basement. I'm actually kind of excited about seeing how it works. I saw several sample pieces at the antique shop where I purchased the paint the the results were stunning. I'm working today so I will have to wait until tomorrow to start. Its something constructive.

Wow, I am a chatty Kathie today.

Good morning team. Started yucky but I see the clouds breaking up.
Every morning as I pull into the parking lot at 6:45 I see the sun just coming up. I have to say I enjoy that. It's downhill after that. emoticon
Kellie, glad you're giving yourself a break. You do so much every day.
Peg, will DD be OK alone at home when you pick her up? Or will she stay with you?
Nicky, I love hearing about your excursions. You're so good to see your "other mother" next week and spend time with her. I admire that.
DRSUE--where are you??
Lori, the reunion is this weekend, right? What are you wearing??
Have a good day team!

kathie, lovely to see your picture!

peg, my best to your daughter -what kind of surgery is it? Wishing her a speedy recovery
----------
Just a quick check in - i got on the scale and i am STS. I am over where (like a few pounds) I would like to be, but with sitting, work and school, i can only do so much, so i won't put pressure on myself. My plan is to do my best and graduate in Dec. Last night was a mall walk 11,000 steps and 25 minutes of Zumba - love Zumba. I hope to get out of work on time so i can rest for a bit. Have a good day! Kel

Hello Team,

Kathie, we are happy that you are back with us and yes we all may say some things without malice. We can't hardly fix ourselves so we will not try to fix you either, lol

Nicky, great walking and I'm so glad that you stayed away from the underbrush. Safer that way for both you and Guenther.

Peg, wow, I hope your DD feels better soon. I, too, am not a good rain/nighttime driver, it scares me.

Kellie, great on all your doing to stay on track.

Beryl, I will get the flu shot again. I got it and the pneumonia one too.

I gardened all day. I planted some snap dragons in my front garden to give it more color. I can actually plant into the ground because it is easy to dig up. Then I worked in my back garden, I cleaned up the large space that holds my garden tools and many empty pots and stands.

Well, I'll say goodnight, ~hugs, Lori

Good evening Team!
KATHIE, no offense taken here. As BERYL said, we are all dealing with something and sometimes our posting can be a little sporadic. Speaking of which, WHERE IS DR SUE????
DD2 did well during surgery although she is in quite a bit of pain and very groggy. I got home after 10:00. and drove home during a rain storm. and yes, I'm of that age where rain + night driving is not a great combination. The ride was a little stressful. I'll bring her home on Friday morning.
NICKY, glad you're expanding your walking and congrats on overcoming the panic. Enjoy your visit.
BERYL, the last time I got a flu shot was in the mid-70s when I was teaching elem. school in Florida. Swine flu was the big thing then. Am looking into the shingles vaccine. I have had shingles once and wonder if that makes me less or more likely to have it again or maybe it has no effect.
KELLIE, keep on doing what you're doing.
LORI, saw your garden pics on fb...beautiful! Hope you're feeling better.
Hoping everyone had a good day.

Peg

KATHIE, this is a safe place for you.
Please know that some of us should say the wrong thing, it is only with a good, kind heart that we wish we could do SOMETHING to make it better for you.

Rich ladies suggesting you condo in Florida for the winter:

My DS was going with a VERY WEALTHY young woman whose father is an important Director/Producer. When one of DS's friends was moaning that he couldn't find a ride to the airport, she sighed loudly and said, "Why don't you just call a limo?"
Sure. A college kid trying to get home on a holiday weekend?
She meant well. . .

PEG, my thoughts are with your DD.

I'm agnostic about flu shots. I guess it's an individual thing. Working with children? You betcha I'd get one!!
I supplement with elderberry all season. Elderberry is a great antiviral. Couldn't hurt.

I ventured uphill a ways today. I stayed on residential sidewalks and didn't walk near any underbrush, either. The first time I tried this last week, my heart rate was 122bpm on the flats. This time, my heart rate stayed at around 100 on a hill! The EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique--Tapping)is very effective for me in getting over my panic attacks. I Tap before I go to sleep, too, and haven't had a nightmare lately, either. Good stuff.

Visiting my 95-year-old friend next week for 10 or more days. She says she's not exactly sure why, but she really, really needs to see me. It will be exhausting, but I have so much fun with her. Bought a bunch of DVDs of older movies (Sally Field and James Garner in "Murphy's Romance," for instance) for us to watch.

Thank you, Team, for being there for me. You have helped me tremendously these past few months.

When you arise in the morning,

give thanks for the morning light, for your life and strength.

Give thanks for your food and the joy of living.

If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies in yourself.

Well I was worried when no one posted after I did.

Peg, I hope your DD's surgery goes well.

Beryl, the flu shot is probably a good idea when you are around kids. I always get one because I see the general public in my job. Wallgreen's was supposed to call me when the vaccine came in, Apparently there is a different one if you are over 65. I feel old enough without being told I need the old folks shot. Oh well.

Wishing everyone a good day. The rain has stopped momentarily and I am going for a walk.

Hey Team, it's a busy day, so just a quick post. My plan is 10K and some additional exercise. I am going to try and leave on time and get some rest this evening. The weather here is muggy! I don't know weather to bring in the pond fish or not. I'll wait a bit! I have to check my emails, fit bit has sent some good meal to make and freeze. I've been making just quick, OP meals at night. There's holiday stuff out - gosh no too soon!

Have a good day ladies...ill stop in later. Sending heatlhy and good vibes to the group!

DON"T YOU DARE GO AWAY!! You did not offend me, and I'm sure you did not offend anyone else. We are here for support, for each of us, and whatever that means for each of us is different.
Some of us are dealing with aging parents, pet loss, financial issues, school, and of course, weight. But we all have our "stuff", so please don't go. Just let us know what works for you and what doesn't.

I hope I didn't offend anyone. Sometimes when thing are written they can be read with different emotion than the one they were written with.

My emotion is resignation and maybe some fatigue. Lately I have been fielding "helpful suggestions" from acquaintances who barely know me, like people from the garden club I belong to and women from my bible study group. Several of the rich ladies have suggested that I just rent a condo in Florida for the winter (with whose money I don't know). Or that I "just rent out" my house and move into town (these people have never owned rental property, unfortunately I do and its no solution if the house is on the market). Or the most insulting one: why don't I get a roommate? (Why do they think that in my grief and sorrow that I would want some stranger in my house--I am at least 30 years away from the old folks home).

Anyway, the suggestions to depend on my brothers are well meaning and unlike the above solutions I did not find them ludicrous or insulting, just unrealistic.

But if you all want me to go away I will. I hate to be the one who puts a crimp on anyone's day.

I'll be thinking good thoughts for DD and you too Peg. Hope it all goes well and she has the results she wants.
Busy days and nights. Long ones!
Warm here today, supposed to rain. Hope it gets cooler. I am over summer!
Kids are doing PSATs today, so I'm trying to catch up on some paperwork.
To show you all how much I love my Josephine, for the first time ever, I am getting a flu shot tomorrow!! To protect her. Or me, actually, from all the drooly babies in her class! lol Hope all of you are gettting your flu shots......
Have a good day team!

Thank you for welcoming me back.

I know you want to be helpful. Lots of people have "helpful" suggestions but please don't try to "fix" things Noting can fix this for me.

BTW my brothers all live 250-1000 miles from here. They all have jobs and families. We talk on the phone and I love them but none of them are capable of coming up here and doing what needs to be done to winterize this place. They are urban guys and would be clueless about wood stoves, docks, winterizing buildings. No. I have to do it myself or hire someone and figure out what to cut out to pay for what needs to be done.

I am going to be alone for the rest of my life so I have to start taking care of the "guy" things.

But, thanks. I know everyone means well. And I do appreciate the concern. Really.

Hello team,

Yes, Nicky, my belly is off. I went all day, today, feeling great. I was so happy that I was feeling good. Then tonight after dinner it began hurting so badly, ugh! Thank you for asking.

Great walking Nicky and Guenther, yea. I hope everyone else is doing fine.

KATHIE! How I've missed you! I totally appreciate what you are going through now. Yes, feeling "alone" and brokenhearted is the trial you must endure. If only we could make it better. . .
You will get back to your art when the time is right.
Please don't be afraid to ask for help from your brothers. Men aren't so great at volunteering their services (I'm sure you don't expect too much support from them;)); I always get this from my DH, "Why don't you just ask me?" "Why didn't you tell me to do that?"

LORI, do you have some tummy issues?

BERYL, was the reunion at least fun?

Last DRSUE posted, she was going to her camp. I'm sure she's back by now, wouldn't you think?

Gunther and I went over 6 miles today, and he was pretty darned cooperative! We averaged 21 minute miles. As soon as it cools off more, we'll go the 8 miles to the ocean and will venture uphill, too.

Say something wonderful about yourself today!

OMG Kathie, I am so happy that you are here again. I've missed you so much. Honestly, Peg would update us every now and then but I'm so glad it's you in person. Please accept my condolences on the loss of your husband. I'm just so sorry. I think that you could lean on your brothers more now. You'd do it for them, right?

Well, my original post poofed, remember those from WW message boards? I said hello to all, wished Kellie well on being better, Peg, many hugs and wine for your mom's dementia. My Beryl, so glad that your reunion was nice, sometimes it is fun to be the youngest.

I said a whole lot more but I'll just wish you all a lovely week, `hugs, Lori

Went to Philly today on the train to the cheesesteak cookoff. So much fun and so much good food! Oh my...I did ride my bike for an hour this morning and walked a lot this afternoon. Best drink today--rum and cider...WOW!! Trust me on this one.
Hope everyone has had a good day and is ready for the upcoming week. Pack, track, cook, let's do whatever we need to to set ourselves up for success! emoticon

Oh Kathie, we are all so glad to hear from you. I am so sorry about your husband. Definitely post when you are up to it. One hour at a time like Beryl says. The fur babies keep us going too. I rely on my crock pot in the winters to freeze things - it helps when i don't feel like cooking and trader joes has some wonderful frozen meals if you have one near you. Keep us posted on everything .

Hi ladies, I think i am over the cold - two weeks was enough! I helped a friend with a cover letter this morning and am working on school stuff. I will pop in later! I need to get out for a walk today. I 'm tracking! Have a good sunday

Good afternoon team and it is a beautiful day! Going to do some yard clean-up and then over to mom's to help bleed the air out of the radiators (I know, I really know how to live it up)
BERYL, nope, not fb "friends" with them. I know the feeling of being one of the youngest...my h.s. changed names and went co-ed during my soph. year. The original school has a reunion of sorts and my class is the last official class from that school, so, we are the babies.
Hoping everyone is having a good weekend.

Oh, Kathie, you are SO MISSED! I'm so glad to "see" you and I hope you can feel the virtual huge HUG coming to you. One hour at a time, friend.
Just back from my nursing school reunion, where I was one of the youngsters there--picture that. The median age was between 90 and death. lol I picked the vegetarian option and was glad I did. Sauteed vegetables on top of pasta (which I did not eat).
Missing my nap today.....big time!!
Rainy and yucky and cold here. Real good snuggle weather.
Lori, feel better!
Peg,I hope the increase helps. Were you "friends" with these folks on FB?
Nicky--how are you and Gunther today?
DrSue--we miss you!
