I leave tomorrow, Tuesday, for the 3-hour drive with Muggles as my sidekick. NM says she has NEVER been in so much pain as this hip surgery. I can't even imagine an almost 98-yr-old going through a surgery!
She told me she was able to go out to dinner every night that her cousin was visiting last week.
I'm a little apprehensive about caring for her by myself, but one of her sons is only 9 miles away.

BERYL, you mentioned that WW is now going beyond the scale. I think that's the big hang up for all of us, isn't it? I mean, between each of us, we could probably list the calories, portion size and macros for all foods on the planet. We should all be super model thin by now if type of food and calorie content was the only issue.
Those of us who emotionally stuff will dance around the issue of "why" and delve into macros before delving into our heads.

I made a "Paleo" turkey Italian meatloaf last night that was the bomb (instead of being heavy as a bomb emoticon )!
I used almond meal instead of breadcrumbs and tomato paste, along with Italian spices, as well as some parmesan and eggs.
I had a 3-lb loaf of ground turkey in the freezer that was getting old. It ended up being the Meatloaf That Devoured Cleveland, but at least it's yummy!

When you arise in the morning,

give thanks for the morning light, for your life and strength.

Give thanks for your food and the joy of living.

If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies in yourself.

Good cold, VERY windy Monday team! Supposed to rain and be very windy all day through tomorrow. Keep hoping school will be cancelled tonight. Easy one to make up as it's the library orientation which is offered online. Not hopeful though.
Peg, glad you got out. Not a huge kombucha fan. I get the feeling folks are either pro or con, not "meh" about it! Our midterms were last week and we had half days, so it's back up hitting the ground running now. Trying to figure out when to take time off. I have days that I need to use. Can't use Mondays since I have to teach in the evening. Waste of a day!
Waving hi to everyone. Have a good day

Good morning Team! Made it to the gym, returned books to the library and stopped at the store. Now just waiting for the freezing, icy stuff to start. DGS has a game tonight, but I am sure it will be canceled.
Welcome, TATA! We have all found what works for us individually and span various WW programs from the late 70s to present. As for me, the only way I could get PP to work was to assign 1 point to every fruit and drop my total number of daily points. That was when Points Plus first came out. I've done previous versions through the years and really can't remember most of the particulars. As for the present, I've increased veggies (decreasing the starchy ones) and when I cut out flour, sugar and artificial sweeteners, I am much happier and feel much better. The holidays were a big set back and I am working my way through that. Winter is not making it easier for me, either.
NICKY, I do not do a light and yes, I do take Vit. D and my Bs. Hope the visit to NM goes well. (I could eat a wheel of Brie...standing, sitting, whatever.) I am trying to cut down on dairy. When I have more than a little, I just don't feel as good. Sticking to greek yogurt as at least it may help replenish those good little bugs.
BERYL, back to the school routine? The high schools here are starting regents week, I think, so a friend's children are home all week because they have no regents to take or make up. This weather could cause problems with that, though.

Found a drink that I particularly like...kombucha, sort of "bubbly, has probiotics, little sugar and the pink apple tastes like fizzy cider.

Hope everyone is well.

Peg

Nicky, when do you leave?
Tata, I do WW, but what you're asking is sort of broad. Do you want recipes, do you want to know about the plans, I'm just not sure what you want to know. Are you going to join online only or will you have access to meetings? The new program focuses on "beyond the scale", which talks about how minds and how we sabotage ourselves, our negative self talk, and how to work with it.
SOrry I'm not more help, just not sure what you're asking

DRSUE, how did the tendonitis come about? I'm so sorry.
Sounds like you have been super busy. I can't even remember the last time I had pizza; HOWEVER, I make something my kids used to call "Godfather Chicken," which is browned chicken (usually thighs) covered with pepperoni, mozzarella, and Trader Joe's roasted garlic sauce and Parmesan in a casserole dish. All the flavors of pizza.

Your parents did a marvelous good deed. Those are the protests I admire so much, ones that are directed toward a specific result.

BERYL, good for you that you had a good time and performed your civic duty.

PEG, do you use a light box? Do you take your Vitamin D? Don't get too down on yourself for not doing much because Winter is, after all, a time of hibernation in preparation for the unfolding!! It's all good stuff!

Speaking of which, our pond and pool are overflowing. Our street is a river, and my house smells of wet dog. I'm really super happy.

There is a new post from TATA, and I welcome you, but I'm afraid I can't help you with points. I know KATHIE can, but she has been MIA lately. We'll support you as best we can.

LORI, what a lovely still life you've set up for yourself!

I practiced a super hard yoga for 90 minutes today and stayed OP yet again so far today.
I'm hoping that my four days with NM won't unnerve me. I'm bringing some Nick's Sticks (grassfed beef sticks) and my MCT oil and various teas. The last time when she fell, I was fine until after I got her into bed and determined she was not injured. While she was napping, I ate an entire wheel of brie STANDING UP! I don't want to ever do that again.

My dietary plan is honed in; my head is still not right.

When you arise in the morning,

give thanks for the morning light, for your life and strength.

Give thanks for your food and the joy of living.

Thank you!

BERYL, glad you're home safely. I am so glad that it was a really peaceful march/gathering/stand in one spot. DR SUE, I'm cheering for your parents. (gee, they didn't seem like activists when I met them...lol) I did my marching in 1970 while in college.
LORI, it's so nice that someone can see flowering plants outside the window. I knew you would make it your own.

No, I can't think of anything that would make this funk go away. DR SUE, our forecast is lousy, too. Wishing all a good evening.

What a wonderful legacy your parents gave you, DrSue! I love that story!
Forgot to say--heard nothing and saw no one. THey only had one jumbotron screen way up front, and NO sound system. Folks who were way up front came back and reported to us that unless you were directly in front, you heard nothing.

Beryl, glad it was amazing. I have participated in walks and marches, and it does feel good. My parents were so straight laced, traditional when I was a kid. My Dad a wall st banker and my mom a teacher. When I was in college they were ordained as the second married couple to the priesthood in the Episcopal church. It was not long after the original 7 women. They had 7 small churches in western Ny state. It is very rural, and the largest dairy producer in the state. The governor at the time decided it was the perfect place to put a nuclear waste dump. Mom and Dad went with their congregations to protest, and were some of the first arrested. They gave their names as the Fathers of allegheny co. I was so proud and horrified to see them on the front page of the buffalo times. So I can honestly say, my parents have a rap sheet and I don't ! (Oh and they stopped the dump)

Good dreary Sunday team! Glad to be home.
The rally was amazing. As were the 3 bottles of wine my DDs and I drank Friday night. lol. There was a LOT of laughing, so that was fun. As you said Peg, not a lot of actual marching. Met some lovely people from Canada, and Texas, and California. Quite an experience and very glad I went. We were a part of history and doing something feels way better than doing nothing.
DrSue, what a crazy busy time you've had! Will the brace affect your doing your work? I hope the skiing works out.
Peg, I'm so sorry. Do you think planning a treat for yourself, like a day somewhere or whatever would make you happy, would help get you out of your funk? Can we do anything?
Lori, the picture looks great!! Your home is so lovely!

Hello Dear Team,

Yay, Dr. Sue is back, tendinitis?, and all. I'm glad that your busy is with lovely things like friends, skiing, Q and puppy playing, and more friends. I've missed you.

Peg, this cold and rainy weather, and dh's job has got me in a big funk too. I spent many hours in the garden again. I brought several plants to the side of the house where I look out fro the kitchen window. I surrounded the humming bird feeder with lavender plants that they love. I transplanted about 6 into my area around our A/C unit too. It's beginning to look like my garden again.

The picture is not really clear but it is not sideways or upside down, either emoticon

Peg, Thanks you for enlightening me. He does look familiar. We haven't heard from Beryl, so maybe she found him!

I hope you are funk free soon. I think it's the weather. We are geolographically close and have the same weather often. We also seem to funk out at similar times. We are expecting a nasty nor' Easter tomorrow into Tuesday. I hope you get your art area set up. Once you do, think of all the things you can get done easily.

I did do a 70 min spin, took dog walking and then up to the school field to play chuck-it with my BFF's pup. We both have tired dogs now, plus I reached my step goal. emoticon I passed on a lunch invite and made a nice salad with chicken, berries and pistachios. I will make an appearance at my neighbors for the Patriots game.

Have a good rest of the day team!

Good morning Team. Cloudy again...
DR SUE, that was a very busy week. Hope the splint helps. Here's Benjamin Bratt (Law & Order)

I jut cannot get out of this funk. I need something to inspire me and I'm not finding it. It's been over a week and I still haven't set up my painting area.

Thinking of yesterday's weather, it seems the universe smiled more upon the marchers than the inauguration

Hoping all my team has a good day.

The end of last week got crazy. We had friends from out of town back to visit ( not just us). Sunday night became pizza and drinks at a friends house to greet the out of towners when they arrived. Then they came here for a night cap. It was a late night for me. Monday I had off, but we met them for breakfast. DH and I hopped on the train and went to the bruins game at 1. Back on the train home, changed clothes and went to the wake of our friends mother. They asked us to the dinner after, another very late night. Worked Tuesday and then out to dinner again with our friends. Another late night! I was exhausted, stuffed and not motivated. Plus, my neck and wrist were a mess. I failed to workout, and made my step goal 1 day. I worked in an acutonics appointment, which made me feel generally better. I went to an ortho guy and am now in a brace that immobilizes my wrist and thumb. Severe tendinitis. I am supposed to wear it 23 hours a day for 6 weeks. I forgot to ask about skiing, but having been twice already, it didn't bother the wrist, so we shall see.

Went and saw Manchester by the sea yesterday. I don't recommend it highly. It is artistically good. I worked up there for years, so it was cool to see it all on the big screen. I don't find Casey Afflack to be terribly talented. Depressing story.

( I'm so not up to speed in pop culture. I don't even know who Benjamin Bratt is!)

So, today is another day. I had a good breakfast and will track it. I am going to go do my long Sunday spin after I post here. Then a good long walk with Quint. I think it will be a quiet afternoon with my book and then football. I think I'll make a heavy veggie stirfry for lunch.

Have a great day everyone. I want my life to get back into a routine.

Happy Sunday team!

Good Sunday morning team. Sorry I have been MIA. Last week spiraled out of control and it was hard to recover and catch up.

First I want to give a huge welcome to Connie! Please feel comfortable and post often. We all struggle with different hurdles, but manage to get over them together.

Corrine, I would fall for the Spanakopita too. My DH is quick to tell me what I forget. Of course, he NEVER forgets anything. (Tongue firmly in cheek there). I hope the snow was easy to deal with.

Beryl, I'm so sorry about your friend, as well as the bomb threats at the JCC's. I don't know if ours was threatened, there were several in the Boston area though. Sick people. How was the march. I heard there were so many people, the march really didn't get yo move. We had 150,000 people on Boston Common yesterday. All peaceful.

Nicky, it will be heart warming to see Muggles reunited with her human. Good for you to care for them. Good for reclaiming your title of Nickynonuts! Great on the squats. I couldn't get one arm into XS leggings at my thinnest! I'm just not built that way.

Peg, I'm sorry you were ailing, but happy you are feeling better. I'm sure your painting was lovely in all it's forms. Must be ready for a show if you are finding it acceptable. emoticon

Lori, sorry your bread didn't work out. I also used to do a lot of bread. If I cook it I will eat it, so I don't. I hope things go well, for DH tomorrow. So great you are having such a good time with your DGKs.

Lynne, Kathie and everyone else I hope you are all feeling well physically and emotionally. I will post this so it doesn't proof. Then I'll fill you in on my week.

Good Morning!

Peg, you give me too much credit. I did stay away from the sugar but I hit the spanakopita hard. It's gone now and time to face reality as difficult as that is. Seeing all the people march all over the world gave me a kernel of hope. Over 7 continents! We the people!

Nicky, Benjamin Bratt is very handsome but I wouldn't run off with him. Now George Clooney is a different story! I was just supporting Beryl's taste in men.

I'm enjoying the Calm app but I still have to fight the brain chatter all the time. I'm hoping it will improve over time. I need to find my consistent time when I can meditate. I think that would help. Mornings are generally rushed and nights are when I crash early.

NM is going to love seeing her fur baby! Good for you turning the dog's breaks into squat moments! I'm glad the nuts are no longer a problem for you. I have to keep reminding myself that it's only food. No power, no morals attached to it; just food.

Lori, I sure hope things get better for DH. It seems an impossible situation. He's supposed to fix something he doesn't even know is broken. It would be nice if his manager or boss would let him know exactly what the problem is.

I'm off to Planet Fitness. I'm hoping that the marches will predominate the airwaves rather than Friday's "American Carnage." At any rate; I have my music to zone out with.

Have a restful Sunday! Anxious to hear Beryl's first hand report of her experience yesterday. Hello to everyone.

Corinne

LORI, BERYL went to the "Women's March" in D.C. today. I used to bake bread a lot and it's not difficult to have a fail. Good luck to DH on Monday.
NICKY, NM will be so excited to see Muggles. I'm glad you've limited the length of your visit.
Good for you incorporating squats into your dog walk. I really need to be more active. I have Miranda's dvd here and have yet to look at it. No motivation. I need winter to be over! (That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it) Glad your finally getting much needed rain.
On a positive note...at 4:30 it was still light outside! YAY!!!!!!

Hello Dear Team,

I cannot figure out what March you are talking about. What is it for? Beryl, I do hope you caught up to Benjamin. Whatever it is for its exercise.

My challa was an epic fail, all but the making of the dough. That was fun, that was messy and made me laugh. It did t rise though, so it was nasty all except the crust.

Corrine, your tech guy explained the inside of the computer well. I, almost always, post using my IPad. It is not as fast as my laptop but it works. Probably more typos.

Peg, yes, I agree with Beryl, as far as art, your "not too good" is most likely our wow. Oh man, I'm sorry that you got stuck being your neighbor's taxi all day.

Nicky, your time with NM will be great for her, not so sure about you, but, reunighting Muggles and NM should be precious. It will be hard for Gunther to see you drive off with Muggles and not him, sadly. I've been eating nuts for protein and healthy fat. I can understand why they can be addictive.

None of the attorneys called us back. DH goes back on Monday and we just have to pray that he does everything right and they actually appreciate him and he keeps his job.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers, ~hugs, Lori

Please don't drum me from the corps, but I won't fight you over Benjamin Bratt.

Going to 'Nother Mother's on Tuesday-Friday morn. She was very disappointed to hear that I wouldn't be staying longer; HOWEVER, it takes a lot out of me to be responsible for her well being. DH will babysit Gunther, and that's another reason I'll stay for a short time. This trip is just so we can have a little visit, and I can see how she is with her Muggles. She misses her little doggie something fierce. If she can manage to have someone help her care for the dog, I'd be fine with her keeping her at home. I'll feel the situation out.
Muggles is way healthier and more active here, though.

CONNIE! Welcome! You found the right place for support, no matter what eating program works for you.

LORI, you're in my thoughts and prayers. Bless the grandkids. Gotta find a reason to laugh every day.

BERYL, how right you are. Thank you for reminding us to treasure every day.
I count at least five blessings every morning or before bed and have for years because it's more easy to be negative and forget all the good in our lives. I think it has something to do with evolution, how we humans in the wild always had to be on guard for danger.

We have rain!!! Lots of it!!! It will rain really heavy tomorrow and Monday, and then the rest of the week will be sunny and cool. Love Los Angeles for this reason.

PEG, you certainly are hard on yourself; must be why you produce such fabulous art. You are amazing (in many ways!).
I rather enjoy the Miranda Esmonde White Advanced Core video I purchased, and I purchased the entire Season 11 recently, too. I like her scientific approach to movement, and the book is so helpful to see the written instructions for each exercise.

CORINNE, how do you like the "Calm" App. Have you found any others that are interesting? I have used "Headspace," the free trial, and I like the British voice.
Another one is "Take a Break," not necessarily for sleep, but for relaxing for a couple minutes in the day. I use this one A LOT because some days get so wild and frantic.

I am so OP, I amaze myself. I can't explain how, but I no longer get triggered by nuts. I am, indeed, NICKYNONUTS! I have not binged on nuts in months, and I do eat them; I eat them as a normal person would. Wow.
I can wear my size XS leggings again with no muffin top or anything! What has changed?
Tracking. Being mindful of what I put in my mouth, for one.
I have been able to stop myself from mindless grazing, and I Intermittent Fast a few days a week, a 16-18 hour fast, 8 hours of which takes place during sleeping hours.

Doing full squats every time one of the dogs stops to pee, poop, or mark. Did 178 squats in 4 miles the other day. Has prompted me to find more ways to move during the day.

KATHIE, DRSUE, thinking of you and hoping you are enjoying yourselves.

Happy Saturday. Our little Team has grown, so forgive me if I've forgotten anyone.

When you arise in the morning,

give thanks for the morning light, for your life and strength.

Give thanks for your food and the joy of living.

If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies in yourself.

Good morning, Team!
Wondering how our BERYL is doing (and how successful she'll be in her Benjamin Bratt quest).
CORINNE, you are a better person than I...I carbed and sugared myself through yesterday. (Cannot get the term "American Carnage" out of my head...omg...where's the positive, let's work together because we are together speech? enough said) Today is a new day and I have a new commitment...well, maybe, surely, definitely?
Sun is out...yay!!! but the possibility of a nor'easter has been mentioned so I will have to pay attention.

Hi Everyone

Sorry I've been MIA but our compdied a sudden death and I'm trying to write this on my iPad. Apparently the mother board died. The guy explains it's the heart of the computer whereas the hard drive is the brain. I'm Wilma Flinstone when it comes to technology but I understood that analogy. We bought a new computer and DH is trying to get it going. Best Buy kept our old one to download all our photos, apps, etc.

Today has been emotionally difficult but it is what it is. Not enough sugar in the world to make it better so I'm not starting.

Can't wait to hear from you after the march tomorrow Beryl! I know people going to Denver, Chicago, Atlanta and one cousin in Sioux Falls.

Glad you're feeling better Peg. The Crown is so good. I wonder how accurate it is as well. It certainly doesn't portray Phillip in a good light. He always looks so miserable. Can't say I ever had a good impression of him.

I hope things are getting better Lori. Did you get any return calls? Can DH talk to the original manager that recruited him for this move and job?

Welcome Connie! I'm pretty new myself but all these women have welcomed me and made me feel very comfortable.

Hello to the rest of the team. Have a good weekend!

Corinne

Good evening all. Quick post before DD2 picks me up and off we go to Washington. Well, technically Silver Springs tonight, but then Washington tomorrow.
Oh, Connie, forgive me. I saw your name as Corinne. Welcome!! Maybe wearing my glasses wouldn't kill me? Enjoy your nap!
Lori, have you heard from any of the lawyers you called? I hope so. Shabbat Shalom!
Peg, glad you redid the painting to your liking. Based on the works we've seen, you do spectacular work, so I can't imagine what your "not good enough" was like!
Packed lots of snacks. Heard Benjamin Bratt is going to the march. My job is to find him! And run off with him, of course!!
Hi to Corinne, Lynn, DrSue, Kathie, Nicky, and anyone else I missed.

Good evening Team! What a bleak, dreary day (and not just weather). A couple of friends are heading down to NYC tomorrow for the "local" march. I'm feeling much better.
LORI, my car is fixed and there have been no more oil drips since I brought it home on Tues. Thinking and praying for you, too. The grandkids have a real way of brightening our lives.
BERYL, where is your march? Safe trip. and yes, our team has been a bit quiet.
CONNIE, my afternoon was ok, Was my friend's driver for her hair appt. at 5 as she still was not supposed to drive. Thought it was just a cut, but was cut and color. That takes a long time! (Did I already post all that, seems like I might have)

Went to class today, worked on the same darn painting. This "version 3.0" is finally acceptable. Woke up this morning planning to gesso the entire thing, but didn't because I knew it would not be dry in time for class. So, I repainted most of it and it's ok. My instructor was laughing because there have been so many changes...trees in then out, fall, now more late fall early winter, sunset now more of a glow, changed the fields and mountains and on and on...only a vague resemblance to the painting I started.

Hoping my team is ok. DR SUE, DGS is planning on snowboarding on Sunday. Any skiing in your immediate future? KATHIE, how is it going? Have you gotten into your studio? CORINNE, LYNN are you doing well? CORINNE, settled back into your routine now that your "house guests" have gone back home? LYNN, finally feeling better? NICKY, don't you have a trip to NM coming up? (or are you there and that's why we haven't heard from you?)

Wishing all a good evening.

Peg

Hello Dear Team,

Just gotta say, nothing brings as much joy and peace into my soul as my grandbabies. When things are bleak, when I can take no more, when I ask G-d why, my babies come over and they are exactly what my heart and soul requires to heal.

emoticon Welcome Connie, yep, you are in the right place. I'm not doing WW's but I am on this weight loss journey with you and our team. We suggest you do what works for you and post often.

Oh no Beryl, that is just sick, for someone to target babies, toddlers and women. Shame, shame on them. How scary and how sad. Then to wake up to such sad news. I'm so sorry, my dear friend. I hope getting together with your DDS helps uplifts you today.

Peg, I'm so glad that you are feeling better. Is your car all fixed now?

Dr. Sue I miss you. The babies, DH and I played Life last night and one of us became a Vet and I was reminded of you. I hope that you are well.

Kathie, I miss you too. I've got to check into that Yoga that my sister in law sent me. I'm doing so much, inside and out to keep my mind off of this suspension.

Nicky, are you getting as much rain and wind as we are?

Corinne how are you? Lynn whatcha doing?

Today, when I'm done posting I'm gonna make some Challa. I will think of my Team, this Shabott, as I always do, and pray when I light the Shabbot candles.

~hugs, Lori

From what I hear, he is a whiny man. He never liked having to walk behind her and not be large and in charge. But theirs was a definite love story! She loved her handsome man, and she got him.

Welcome, CONNIE! As BERYL said, we are all following whatever plan works for us. You'll fit in perfectly with your lower protein tweaking. All of us have been WWers at some point or other, so we probably cover all of the plans in their various incarnations. Again, welcome and glad you are here.
BERYL, that is so sad. Every day there is a reminder to not put things off. Nothing is certain.
Finally back to feeling well. Now, if I could only get a little sunshine. Back home from taking my friend for her procedure and I'm exhausted. My own fault...continued watching "The Crown" until the wee hours. Does anyone know how faithful to the truth this is? If it is, Philip is just a whiny sh*t. Never realized that before. Thinking I will get out to see mom today and then...who knows...
Hope my team is well. Wishing all a good day.

Good morning and welcome Corinne! Now we have 2. SO happy you found us!
Not sure how you know how many calories are in PP, since they don't use them, but that's way too little. We're all doing our own thing on this board--some Sparkpoints, some WW, some calories, some...whatever. But it's all support, all the time. Welcome! You're definitely in the right place.
Woke up to the nurse a precious, precious girl I went to nursing school with had died. She was her own person. Was a Dead head, and worked going from rock concert to rock concert working the medical tents there. I'm so sad, and more determined than ever to NOT WAIT TO DO THINGS. Do them now if you possibly can. None of us know what tomorrow brings.
Off my second soapbox in 2 days. I don't like it up there!
Off to start my day. Hoping to walk today. Tomorrow will be barre.
Have a good day ladies!

Good Morning, I hope I am not hijacking.

My name is Connie and I have joined WW this week and love the meetings but I think I need to do a WW plan that is less concentrated on protein. The new plan makes protein more points efficient and if you eat only carbs, veggies and oils you only get 1000 calories a day.

I have found that a low protein diet is much better for my body. Every time I do a high protein diet my health crashes. I am not sure if that extends to beans or other types of protein, but I do know that any more than 3 oz of chicken a day will cause terrible pains in my upper back.

I gained 15 pounds over Christmas and I am at 238 (5'7") and am looking for some tools to do one of the old ww plans and of course, I want a community to join and be a part of.

Am I in the right place

Blessings,
Connie

Good evening team.
Peg, so glad you're feeling better. Good news! You're a good friend to take your friend tomorrow. Do you have an appetite now? Eating enough?
Massage was amazing. I'm going to stick with this one! She used cold on my feet, then hot towels. Wow. And she found and got rid of knots before I could complain it hurt! She was fast!
My computer is now slower than ever. Freezing every 5-10 minutes it seems like. I'm over this too!
Off to eat. Least I can look forward to that!! I ALWAYS look forward to that!
Hope everyone is doing well. Have a good evening ladies.

Good evening Team! Feeling much better although I did cancel the gym and my pastels class. Tomorrow I have to take a friend for a colonoscopy so I'll have to get up much earlier than usual.
BERYL, I knew that about the vaccine, but it slipped my mind. It is just terrible what is happening at the JCCs. I can't understand how anyone can behave like that, even though I know history is rife with such horrible acts. I am so sorry, BERYL, that you and your babies and family have to go through this. Brings to mind when we would have bomb drills when I was in elementary school and we would cower beneath our desks or march to the basement. I hope the walk, massage and a glass of wine will help.
LORI, I'm glad you've spoken with DS and are seeking representation. I hope the yoga works for you.
CORINNE, I've just started watching The Queen on Netflix. So far, so good! John Lithgow as Winston C!
My bizarre dreams continue...last night an elementary school classmate was in it. I haven't seen him since elementary school. What is going on? (At least he wasn't buying a fish tank lol )
Missed DGS's game tonight. I thought it was tomorrow, but at least they won. :-)
Wishing all a good evening.

Peg

Lori, I'm glad you told your son and are taking action. That helps, I think.
Speaking of which, ladies, just had our second bomb scare at our local JCC. Coordinated effort around the country. My babies are there. My daughter is there. This is personal. Walking into the lobby of the safe place they evacuate them, killed me. Seeing all those babies and toddlers. I am in a bad place now. So angry I don't know what to do. Hopefully happy hour and a massage will help. What hate has been unleashed.
Sorry for the Debbie Downer post.
Hope everyone is having a good day.

Hello Dear Team,

We're hanging in there. We did contact DS, who said, it seems as if they are building a case to fire DH. He suggested a labor law attorney. DH hasn't a union. We called two with no return calls, Will attempt more today.

Peg, I'm so sorry that you got sick, I wish that we were closer so we could walk Ruby and bring you things that you need. So glad that you are feeling somewhat better.

Beryl, I was the designated mover for both girls, for every year at college, and holiday. My DS did it himself. I'd love to try your Eggplant meatballs. They sound delicious.

Corrine, the brain fog is common with me too. It can be frustrating, to say the least.

Nicky, my sis-in-law, gave me a link for a 30 day free trial to her Yoga, beach body on demand, if I can do this, I can use her password. It starts out very gentle.

I've got to get dressed and go pick up DGS, will check in later, ~hugs, Lori

Good warm-ish Wednesday morning team. Hope everyone is doing well.
I think I'll work out again today during the day. There's a muscle pump at noon but not sure yet. If it doens't rain I may go for a walk around here. Meeting a friend for a drink right after work, then a massage with one of my endless coupons at 5. Defrosted mystery meat for dinner. I have cauliflower rice I'll mix with brown rice, and I'll roast brussels sprouts and call it done.
Bell just run. Have a good day ladies!

Glad you're feeling better Peg. Just an FYI, the flu shot is for the upper respiratory thing and won't help with a GI bug. Still, stay away till you're feeling better. Some places restrict all visitors when it gets bad. And really--a salt water fish tank?? A longline strapless bra will be shopped for, along with a MOB dress, NOT a fish tank. I so wish you all could help me with those! Hope you have some soup and crackers and stuff that's easy on your stomach.
Kids are dismissed. Yay!
Making spaghetti for dinner tonight. Already spiralized my zucchini, and will saute it and add to my pasta so I can eat a lot. I'll make a quick sauce when I go home, and heat up the frozen eggplant meatballs to have with it all. I'm out of proportionately excited for dinner already, before I've eaten lunch!
Off to change and hit the fitness center.

Good morning Team! Feeling a little better, but not fully. Haven't been to see mom, of course, so I called to see how she is doing. The report is better. I told you they increased the pain patch and they have restarted the zoloft so she is not so weepy and fearful. A good thing. Also there has been an intestinal bug traveling through the facility. Thinking I've picked up something there, but because of the flu shot and the pretty good state of my health, it hasn't gotten any worse. Maybe tomorrow I can go see her. Still lying low today except I dropped the car off to VW.
I enjoyed Victoria, too, CORINNE.
Had the strangest dream and all of you were in it. We were (now get this) together at the store to help BERYL buy a salt water fish tank! Where did that come from?
Oh BERYL, another student who doesn't read emails or postings and submits late? What is it with them?
Hoping everyone has a good day.

Peg

Good Morning Team!

Nicki, I'm very much post menopausal. I had chemo brain during treatment and tamoxifen and it just never seemed to get back. I agree that as women we have thousands of things on our minds at any given time so it's no wonder there are glitches in the memory. I'm like Beryl; just trying to write important things down and since getting a smart phone; I put things in my calendar with an alert so I get nagged.

By the way, I did download the Calm app and I'm doing the meditation exercises. Still not seeing a quieting down of the chatter but I'm going to keep working at it. I did find your link useful and I'm following a lot of the recommendations.

I recorded "Victoria" and I really enjoyed it. I've also watched "The Crown" on Netflix about Queen Elizabeth and thoroughly enjoyed that as well. Always have had a fascination with royalty. Helps keep my mind off what's happening in our country.

Made the mistake of trying to get in a discussion with a relative on Facebook. It went nowhere and just made me angry. You can't educate stupid and this particular family member is extremely close-minded, sexist and racist. I ended up blocking him. I don't need any additional acid!

DH and I saw "Patriots Day" and it was very good. They interspersed actual news footage within the movie and it was done very well. I cried when I saw Obama consoling America after this tragedy. Can't imagine we'll ever get that type of comfort from a leader any time soon.

I'm back on board with exercise now that the holidays are over. I wish I could find a yoga class that fit in with my schedule. I took it several years ago and it really helped. I have some DVD's but it's not the same.

Hope everyone has a good day and I hope you're back to feeling normal Peg.

Corinne

Good Monday morning team. Here a few minutes earlier than usual. Not sure why.
Half days for kids this week for midterms. This way I can hit the gym during the day and do lots of things after work. Today is donate blood and a mani!
Peg, I hope you're feeling better. If not, don't push it!
I wrote a whole response last night but don't see it posted. Gotta love technology.
ONE of my students did not post as she was supposed to by the date listed. She "just" got the email I sent (after not reading my 2 announcements prior to that detailing what is due). She contacted the help desk. I keep telling her I control when things are posted, NOT them....she also informed me she is not computer illiterate as she just completed a BSN online....UGH.....
Nicky, my brain fog never cleared up after perimenopause. I've still got it and am tied to my lists I have to make, or things will not happen.
Fun at WHole FOods last night!
Now my SIL and my DD2 might be coming with me Friday to DD1s house to stay over prior to the march on Saturday. Girls weekend! For a cause.
Off to start my day.
Have a great day ladies. Do something nice for yourself!

PEG, I recorded "Victoria" but have not yet watched it. I love Masterpiece Theater, usually.

CORINNE, if you're peri-menopausal (I can't remember how old you said you were), you can expect your brain to be in perpetual fog. This, too, will pass.
I hope Chris Kresser's 3-part article on GERD may have given you a few handy hints.

I, too, did all the moving for my two children. Too many times to count.
My mom did house flipping on the side when I was a kid, so we moved quite often.

I spent this MLK long weekend totally OP and practicing long yoga sessions, as well as walking with the dogs.

I was getting a little depressed because Muggles can't do the 6-8 miles I love to hike, but I turned lemons into lemonade yesterday! Every time Muggles or Gunther pee or mark, I do squats! Oh, what a sore butt!
One of these days I'll feel less guilty leaving her behind and either go by myself or take Gunther on a long walk to the ocean like we used to do.

BERYL, what do you usually get at Whole Foods?

I made a pot roast and oven fried ling cod on Saturday, so I don't need to cook for a few days, just rotate those two main dishes with different vegetables.

I also made enough caprese to last for a couple of days, too.

PEG, dear PEG, I do hope you'll be right as rain by tomorrow. Good for you that you are taking it easy.

When you arise in the morning,

give thanks for the morning light, for your life and strength.

Give thanks for your food and the joy of living.

If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies in yourself.

Good morning Team! Feeling somewhat better, but not all the way...yet. Slept most of yesterday away, barely getting up often enough to take the poor Ruby outside. Ran out of dog food so she's been feasting on chicken, rice and homemade beef soup because i can't make myself go to the store feeling lightheaded. She'll probably wish I felt lousy more often...lol
CORINNE, not joking here, either, about losing my mind. I think part of it is that we think about so many things that we don't focus deeply enough on each and so, it does not become committed to our memory. Yes, I am the moving person, too.
BERYL, enjoy WF. Will look forward to fb pics. Hadn't DB decided that a long time ago? Will be hard on DSIL, but if he's truly decided that, he should just get on with it..imho
DR SUE, how are you feeling and how did your doc take your HRT decision? Do you have today off or is it a regular work day?
LORI, thinking of you and the stress of what's happening. Sorry if I was harsh in yesterday's post, but 20 years in the court system taught me the importance of being proactive.
KATHIE, NICKY and LYNN, hope all is well.
Wishing a good day to all who stop by.
Not sure if I'll get to set up my painting area or not today. Will wait and see how I feel.

Good cold clear Monday morning team. I hope you're all doing well today.
Corinne I can so relate when you talk about forgetting things. I have to write things down every single day. I have a little planning book that I can write everything down for the day and and if I don't, it won't get done. Sticky notes are all set my friend but those do tend to get lost. I think we try and do too much and as a result not everything gets done.
Peg, I hope you're feeling better and take it easy today.
I'm going to go for a walk outside, then maybe go see the kids, go to the gym for muscle pump, then meet my sister-in-law for lunch. DH had dinner with my brother last week and he's pretty much made up his mind to leave her but doesn't have the gumption to do so. He's a coward.
Since I don't have school tonight I'm going to do our whole foods and I'm very much looking forward to that.
Have a wonderful day ladies whatever you do

Good Morning!

Woke up to snow this morning but seems like only an inch or so. I'll still be able to go to Planet Fitness for my early morning work out. I'm hoping MLK day will keep the crowds away. I went yesterday at my usual early time and it was empty; the way I like it.

Peg, I hope you feel better. No fun to be sick.

Lori, I don't think it will hurt to run the situation by your DS but it has to be his choice. I'm sorry you're still dealing with the uncertainty. It can't be doing anything for your stress level.

Dr. Sue, I'm feeling like a detective right now. Trying to find the unsub! Raw vegetables and dairy so far I know cause stomach pain. I'm just following all the GERD recommendations and going over everything at the end of the day; checking in how I feel. The Zantac seems to be helping and the NP thought I only needed to take it for 2 months to heal. Very annoying since now I have to be more obsessed about food than ever!

Beryl, good for you having the "I don't help move boundary." With my son living in dorms, apartments, etc for school, I'm the designated mover. Luckily he always gets a furnished place and he doesn't have tons of stuff but still. I'm hoping he can keep his apt over the summer so we don't have to move him for 2 months and then move him back again.

I wish I was just kidding about losing my mind but it seems every day I forget more than I remember. My son is always saying, "I already told you this, Mom." I'm practicing languages, playing solitaire, etc. to preserve what few brain cells I have left. I remember a time when I didn't have to write anything down and now even if I write it down; can't remember where I put the note!

Have a good day Ladies!

Corinnne

Good cold clear Sunday morning team. I hope you're all doing well.
Peg, stay in bed and feel better. You're never sick! Rest and take it easy today.
Lori, still thinking of you and totally agree with Peg about the Union rep and talking to DS or somebody. If all this is coming totally out of the blue then something is going on and you need to be protected.
Did a lovely hour walk this morning and then a fun Zumba, now home enjoying the quiet and reading the newspapers. Have a wonderful day ladies!

Good morning Team! t's sunny and cold and I feel like crap. Woke up with a queasy stomach and a spinning head. Will lie low today.
LORI, my unsolicited advice is that you tell DS if that's who you would ultimately go to. Anything legal never gets better if it is left to sit and fester and it's better to run the situation past him (or another legal professional) sooner rather than later. I'm sure DH will be uncomfortable disclosing this problem, but how will he feel if he waits and is told "if I had known sooner, we could have done such and such". Is DH in a union? If so, at the very least he should be talking to his rep and maybe they will supply legal representation. I know you know this, but I felt compelled to add my 2 cents.
BERYL, it all make s sense now. Thanks. Enjoy your alone day.
DR SUE, I always found it easier to get paper/office work done when I was alone and not distracted by anyone else. Hope it goes quickly.
A big hello to all; I have to go lay down.

Peg

Corinne, I'm sure my mind will be gone long before the weight. Ultimaly, I think the weight loss helped most. I also have changed my eating habits quite a bit. I have loved to cook forever, but now almost everything I make is fresh scratch made. I also do a lot more meatless meals.
I hope lunch with Mom was fun.

Peg, sounds like you did a lot. Did you get you art station set up?

Beryl, enjoy your day alone, away from the drama. Good on the loss.

Lori, I hope things settle down for you.

Kathie, Nicky Lynn, and Michelle, how are you all doing?

Beautiful sunny warmer day here. Plan on a good walk with the dog. I unfortunately have to go to the office. I need to do a bunch of administrative c?$p. If I don't leave town on my weekends off I always get railroaded. DH just doesn't get it. On the other hand, it has to get done, and it will be easier without the staff. Of course it would go quicker without him there either emoticon

Good late evening Team,

We are not at all sure that an attorney could help with this, but it may come to it. Now we all know that DS is now an attorney but we haven't told him about any of this yet. This all is Cra$. The stress is making me sick. I did a lot of cleaning today, we did the dreaded grocery shopping too.

I just want to to be able to enjoy our new city, our new home, my new garden and not worry it will all be taken away from us.

~wishing my Team an awesome Sunday, Lori

~ Lori ~

I'm here because I want to be healthy.

Good evening all
Peg it's confusing to me!! DH is moving DS tomorrow and DF will move Monday. Somehow her parents not being home wasn't conveyed to us. And NO I do NOT move!!! Lol
Sounds as though you got an awful lot done!
Off to our favorite Italian place for dinner

Good evening Team...
I'm laughing, too, CORINNE! Would love to lose poundage as fast as my mind is leaving me.
BERYL, so now I'm confused...is the move Sun. or Mon.? Do you have to help? Is DF's family helping? I know this is not difficult, but I'm having trouble.
NICKY, you're right, it is Miranda...the Classical Stretch dvd. I must admit that with all the DDs drama, I never thought I was a"bad" parent. I did wonder if I could have done something differently, but most of all, I wanted to know why they did what they did. I always want to know the "why" or "how" (as in ..how could s/he do such a thing?) behind people's actions. Never did find out and guess I never will.
Accomplished just a small portion of what I had set out to do...kitchen table is cleared, mom's paperwork is filed away, tax information sorted and put where it should be. Did just a little cleaning and errands took far longer than I had anticipated. Of well, fiddle dee dee, tomorrow is another day...
Sending good evening wishes to all.

Peg

Good Saturday afternoon to my team! So much going on.
Corinne, I'm laughing like a loon at your last sentence. I agree! Enjoy (as much as you can) lunch. I find being out with my mother easier than talking on the phone or visiting at her place or ours.
Lori, could you/should you consult an attorney? These things seem to be happening to him with no warning and no awareness on his part they're coming? Like Nicky, I like to fix things, so please ignore if it doesn't apply. But I'm thinking of you and sending hugs.
Nicky, what a wonderful relationship with and memories of your dad. How are the 2 ladies doing?
Kathie, how is your weekend?
Peg, I agree, losing is educational. I"m glad your mom's pain seems better controlled. Enjoy the weekend.
DrSue, your weekend sounds wonderful. Enjoy!
So, the total sh** show that this move is continues. DH was going to do it all. I made him call her and her parents to find out the scoop. Turns out her folks are down at their beach house this weekend. So.....we were supposed to rent a truck (that DS does not need), drive to Baltimore and drop his stuff off, then go another 30 minutes to her place, take apart her bed and anything else she was bringing, then pack it in and move it. NO FREAKING WAY!!
So her parents are renting a truck and moving her Monday. What the heck?? None of them has the brains God gave a flea, I swear. So now I get a lovely day alone tomorrow!!
Down .8 , even with missing a day of exercise!
Have a good day ladies!

Dr. Sue, what finally took care of your GERD? I'm eliminating the foods they suggested to see if that helps. The new medication seems to be working and at least it doesn't have the long list of side effects. I was happy she said to continue with the enzymes and probiotics.

Nicky, I have checked out those websites you sent and I'm grateful for any suggestions you have for both me and DH.

Lori, I'm so sorry the work stress is not over for your DH. At what point does he get an explanation and/or a chance to defend himself? Please make sure he documents times, witnesses, statements made, etc. He might need to build a case and it won't hurt for him to have as much documentation as possible. I hope it gets resolved soon.

Beryl, I wish I drank alcohol sometime. Might help with my sleep! My DH is has a harder time with chocolate than I do. He calls it his drug of choice. I'm trying to eliminate all the white carbs which will help both of us. I found low-carb, high fiber tortillas that actually taste good and they're soft so you can use them for wraps. He's a huge sandwich guy so he has to have something to replace his white tortillas.

Going go have lunch with my mother today at a favorite Chinese restaurant. The interaction is always better when it's one on one so I'm looking forward to it. Especially now that the holidays are over and we're back to a normal routine.

Hello to Peg, Kathy and anyone else I may have forgotten. I wish I could lose weight as easily as I'm losing my mind!

Corinne

LORI, I'm really, really sorry DH's work is causing so much stress! What I hope is that he has an advocate in whom he can confide. He didn't get this transfer and stuff for nothin'! It's not like he's a rookie. I'm sure you are documenting EVERYTHING for the "just in case."
I'm sure you know that; it's the "fixer" in me that just can't let it alone. emoticon

PEG, it's Miranda Esmonde-White? Two of her programs happen to be on PBS in my area this weekend. I've never seen her on TV, but she has a huge following. I'm super enjoying the "Aging In Reverse" book and the Classical Stretch DVD. I'm getting so flexible, I'm thinking about trying out for Cirque du Soleil! Then again, maybe not. . .

I visited with a psychologist after my dad died for some grief counseling. It was the first time I had heard that "no parent ever gets it right."
Those words soothed me. My dad and I were very close; he thought I could do no wrong (wish it had been true), but there were a few issues. Turned out this psychologist afforded me the "ah-ha moment" regarding my son. Constantly blaming oneself for another's behavior borders on neurosis.
Another deep thought!!! They just keep coming!

DRSUE, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO QUINT!!! That is so cool. My Dobe HATED to get wet, but Gunther, the Springer Spaniel, was walking in the gutter rivers and finding every puddle to jump in. Muggles thought that was great fun, jumped in the puddle up to her waistline before she realized what she'd done.

Thank you again, DRSUE, for turning me on to MyFitnessPal. I was reluctant to change from SP for tracking, but it's really great, no fuss. I don't care so much about the calories any more, but the macros breakdown is fabulous. So easy to enter, too.

When you arise in the morning,

give thanks for the morning light, for your life and strength.

Give thanks for your food and the joy of living.

If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies in yourself.
