Good Sunday evening team.
Peg, you were busy today! Have some wine tonight!
Lori, I too would think of that. It seems possible, doesn't it? Hope tomorrow goes smoothly for you. Looking forward to hearing about it.
Kathie, thank you for the pictures! I'm glad the granite is in and hopefully the water will be back on shortly.
Hi to DrSue and Nicky.
Babysitting went well. Kids were great. Exhausting but great. Jo has started screaming when DSIL drops her off at daycare. New behavior. He wants DD to quit her job and stay home with the kids, and if she doesn't take care, that will happen. They'll all be sorry for that one. Those kids need way more stimulation than DD will provide. I'm sure it's a stage, but it's hard on him.
Watching the convention, which is fun since it's so close to us and we go to Philly a lot. DS will have his hands full this week, I'm sure.
Back to our take out Chinese dinner (hot and sour soup, steamed shrimp and vegetables.)
Have a good evening ladies.

Good evening Team!
LORI, glad your sky has cleared. Funny, I would do that CSI thinking, too.
BERYL, off to the beach! Wonderful! Doesn't seem possible it was only a week ago that I was there. I need to spend the entire summer at the ocean. Can you make that happen for me? please...
KATHIE, Samantha looks a lot like my Yoshi, but I'm betting she's not as annoying. Looking forward to seeing the pics. Here's a new career...plumber extraordinaire!
DR SUE and NICKY, hello.
Weeded, tied up the straggling plants and pulled out the snow peas. Finally got around to filling the feeders and cleaning and filling the hummingbird feeders and the birdbaths. Was amazed at the different kinds of bees and bumblebees that were all over my flowers. I didn't bother them and they didn't bother me. Have some flowering sunflowers thanks to the chippies or squirrels. Don't know who did the planting. Think thunderstorms are forecast for tomorrow afternoon. We definitely need the rain!
A good evening to all!

Today there is a much prettier sky. I read that it is 10% contained, burned 22,000 acres and took 45 homes. One man was found in his car on Saturday. So my CSI mind went to maybe some one murdered him and set his car on fire and maybe that is how this whole mess started. I'm sure all of us will be glad when it is over and only brush is burned. Our drought was lifted, too bad the water did not go to the hills and canyons to prevent this fire.

Kathie thanks for the picture of Charlie and Samamtha. She is so cute and Charlie is not at all as I have pictured in my mind. I thought he was white and black. When the plumber is done will you p,ease take a picture of your kitchen fir us. I think that is Burber carpeting, it is really nice.

Peg, will you take a dip today? It is so hot.

Beryl, I get so confused with the abbreviations and DN about twisted my mind, lol. Then after a sentence or two, I realized it meant dear niece. I was hoping you wrote dear sister in law, and then I realized. I'm so excited for you to go to the beach. How sweet you and your husband walking this morning. Now Zumba, make sure that you eat enough to lose weight his week.

Hey Nicky and Dr Sue, today I will prepare our home for my DD1 and my three sweet grandkids.

~much love, Lori

Thanks everyone for your support and understanding and for taking the time to share your own stories and insights. You have given me a lot to think about and it has made it easier to deal with the more challenging aspects of care giving. No doubt I am overworked, sleep deprived and goodness knows what else since I don't have much of a social life at the moment. Annie is sick & has been sick now for 4 (?) days. Big mes sup at the vet . No one called me when her meds were ready. I called near the end of the day but repeatedly got busy signal then the machine saying the office was closed. So she missed 2 doses and I'm dealing with the consequences - up multiple times in the night and accidents despite my best efforts.

The granite was installed on Friday and looks great. The plumber is (still) trying to hook up the water. I had to cancel my haircut. But now after 5 days w/o water in the kitchen I will gladly go a few more days with shaggy hair to having running water.

Very bad situation in S Cal. My friends there have described the sky. Wow, the photos Lori, are scarier than what I imagined.

Beryl, lovely that you are going to the beach. Interesting about what your leader said about eating more. Getting rid of book feels a lot like losing weight.

Peg, are you using your pool in this heatwave? Its hot all over I think.

Back to being the plumber's helper. More later.

Happy Sunday team.
Lori, that's so scary to me. Please, you and Nicky keep safe. Stay inside.
Peg, enjoy the garden. Then GET INSIDE!!
DH and I walked early this morning. Still hot, but got an hour in. Now off to zumba. Then reading the paper and we're babysitting tonight. We'll see how that goes.
So excited I"m going to the beach next week. DD1 is coming and I can't wait. She needs a break, especially since she's now trying to get her religious divorce from TL and he is refusing to give her his address. What a load. Hopefully the rabbis can work around that, and she can always give them his mother's address. UGH. And DSIL may come too. DN is going away for a week (whatever will my brother do?) so she and my brother may go away for a day or so. It's damn well about time they did. I"m glad, but don't see much happening because of it. He's still messed up and won't do anything about it.
DH is upstairs boxing up boxes and boxes of books. Novels, paperbacks, schoolbooks. Unbelievable. Those built in bookshelves held a lot of books!!!
Have a good day, and keep cool.
Kathy--what's going on?
Hi Nicky, Lori, DrSue (how's Fredo today?) and anyone I missed.

Good morning Team! Another hot one, but I definitely have to do some garden time. They are a mess!
LORI, those pics are eerie and terrible due to their cause and yet, there is a real beauty in the colors and contrasts. Hoping you and NICKY don't see it any closer up than that.
BERYL, dinner sounds great; glad you enjoyed it.
DR SUE, Fredo approaching his "old" self?
KATHIE?
Out to garden before I talk myself out of it.
Have a good day!

Ladies, be safe. That is so scary to look at. Nicky, do you have a/c? I'd think you'd want to close the house up if you do, not open the windows to let all that in. Either way, please be safe.
Peg, I too love to be out in the sun but totally understand that "too hot" thing. It just gets unpleasant sometimes! Like today. We had storms and it got very nice in the evening, but coming home from dinner it's hot and humid and close again.
Lovely dinner at a vegan/vegetarian/college place near us. So good. They changed their menu and there were so many good things on it. We had spicy hummus, and brisket banh mi (I didn't), and shared a chicken rice bowl with roasted vegetables. Very good. Not to mention 2 drinks.
Have a good evening ladies.

Woke up to a very eerie outdoor scene.

From my patio

From my porch

And one new yellow rose

Nicky, how far down the 405 are you?

Peg, I do understand as our pool has no shade.

Good evening Team!
Wanted to say YAY!!!! to BERYL for her 2.3 loss.
Thinking of LORI and NICKY with the fires.
KATHIE, how are you doing? Countertops in?
Didn't get in the pool...too hot! Ruby and I stayed inside with the fan. Seems funny to say too hot to go in the pool, but being out in the sun is very unpleasant and I am such a "sun worshipper" so that sounds weird coming from my mouth...
A good evening to all!

LORI, I just came on here to post again because the sun over here is an eery orange because of the smoke overcast. You must have it bad!!! There are little flakes of soot covering everything outside. I have to keep all windows and doors open, as well as the ceiling fans and floor fans going full blast. Hot, muggy, and miserable.

Those poor firemen!!! Having to work in this heat and dryness over there!!!

Be well. Stay indoors. This couldn't be good for any of you.

Hello Dear Team, from the smoky canyons of Santa Clarita. It's so hot and even if you did go out you'd be breathing in the Smoke from the Sand fire that began at 2:00 yesterday and covers more than 11,000 acres, now.

This was at 3:00pm from our house.

This one at 4:00 ish while shopping at Sam's club

This one at 9:00pm, ugh

Beryl, HaPpY dAnCiNg on 2.3 down, whoo hoo. So, if I hear the WW's rep right, if you eat more, you will continue to lose. Sounds good to me, except I'd have to actually exercise, to eat more, to lose more.

Nicky, are you getting any of our smoke, I hope not.

Dr. Sue, I'm glad Fredo is getting better. You'll be hearing elephants upstairs soon.

Peg, maybe today you will get into your pool. I'm sure that Ruby will be happy to be indoors with you.

Dd2 us on her way over, just because, I sure hope the smoke doesn't bother her allergies.

Well I'm wishing my team a good Saturday, ~hugs, Lori

KATHIE, I was so moved by your post. I believe our Team also functions as an Interactive Dear Diary.

I think just about every animal guardian has harbored those very same feelings you have revealed.
I believe this with all my heart: our fur friends will leave us when their work is done. Charlie still has some work to accomplish, apparently. Perhaps teaching patience? emoticon

My DS rescued a 14-month-old German Shepherd some years ago now. He failed a drug program and was given over to GS Rescue. DS confessed that he doesn't really like this dog, but he loves him nonetheless. This GS brought DS into police dog training and guards his house like no other.

I'm a volunteer and member of Springer Rescue America. My case worker said to me several years ago that you don't get the dog you want----------you get the dog you need.

My step mom and 'nother mother have often talked about the loneliness in terms of missing the significant another's input and guidance. There is a great deal of sadness in their voices.
I have felt that weight, albeit only for a short time, when I was divorced from first jerk.

You are in a new state, a new house, a new life, plenty of upheaval. You are the type who will become enmeshed in the community. I told you before, and I know I'm right, that you will become a famous local. You gotta trust me on this one.
You are not alone now, and you never will be. So there.

Bounce your ideas here as your Interactive Diary. If you don't want opinions and just want to vent, say so. All venting allowed here, too.

Haven't walked very far in the last few days because of the muggy heat. Will do some pool time today if I can get my work finished. Otherwise, tomorrow for sure.

When you arise in the morning,

give thanks for the morning light, for your life and strength.

Give thanks for your food and the joy of living.

If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies in yourself.

Good hot, humid, dog days of summer to my team. I don't know what the temperature is, but at 11 it was 90, so clearly it's higher now. My a/c just runs and runs to keep the house at 80!
DrSue, so glad Fredo is coming around to his old self. YOu must be so relieved!
I'm envious of all of you for your relationships with your fur babies. I'm just not that big a fan and never was. I loved the cats and dogs we had, but am now ready to not have any and lose the responsibility. Heck--not sure I like a lot of people that much!! Except all of you, of course!
Went to WI today, scared to death. Ready to face the music and own up. Lost 2.3 OMG, i was floored. Of course my leader then said it's because I was eating enough finally. But I don't exercise like this during the year, so that's what gets me. I can't up and down my food intake, so doing the best I can. But I was very pleased, that's for sure!
Did zumba today, which turned into hot zumba.Even inside with the a/c and fans, the Y is humid.
Starting to binge watch Feed the Beast. If any of you have seen it, do you like it? I'm totally hooked.
Have a good day ladies.

Good afternoon Team...another hot one here. Took care of some errands and now sitting in front of my fan. Put Ruby in her yard this morning, but going to bring her in for awhile during the hottest part of the day.
DR SUE, yay for Fredo and his continued recovery.
Trying to stay cool and dreaming of the ocean breezes.

Good morning team, I'm muddling along. Not quite OP, as in not tracking, haven't really exercised since Tuesday. Partly due to Fredo, and partly due to the heat. It is miserable here. We have not had a stretch like this in years. Fredo is improving every day, he ate some dry food this morning, but he is still very quiet.

Kathie, you have no reason to feel bad. Every animal is different, and our relationships with them are also different. My Ahab was so awesome we were Truly bonded. Fredo is way different but made me laugh every day until he got sick. I look forward to that again. Then there was Starbuck. He was lovely, but not a lap cat, not a comic, dare I say not too bright. He was here. He was a good cat to bring a dog into the house with. Was I devastated when he died? Yes. I think Charlie it is along those lines with you. Its really no different than relationships with people. You are doing so well, Lori did put it beautifully.

Lori, glad your back is better. Enjoy your family time. I hope it is fun and not too much work put on you. Squirrels are a challenge. I'm in Peg's camp though, they are cute.

Peg, I'm sorry you didn't get to be in the pool. Maybe today. Melinda is certainly lucky to have you. Usually the US classes are intense. 7:30- 5. I doubt, I'll make it, but you never know.

Beryl, homemade Kimchi! Yum! Lucky your DH makes it! It was a labor of love, but it came out great. I'm going to have to try kimchi pancakes, when the heat breaks. Your workouts are amazing! Nice that you offered to babysit. You must have a big bookshelf!

Well, Fredo just climbed on my lap, was making biscuits on my squishy middle. ☺️So life is going on. He also just chased his toy. No elephants yet, but maybe tomorrow.

Have a good day team.

Good evening Team! It is hot and humid here, too. Too busy to go in the pool today, but my neighbor, her DDs and her five grandchildren certainly enjoyed it lol
Oh KATHIE, you don't know how many times I have thought that if I had only gone out mom's front door and not the back, I would not have found Melinda. She has turned into a sweet cat, but the meds and the peeing and the room restriction which thwarted my plans...yet, I'm glad (most days) that I was able to rescue her. That goes for solo decision making...It's been about 12 years for me and it never gets easier, but that's just how it is. So, we struggle and stumble and hope we make the right decisions and know that some of them will have to be revisited and that's that. On the positive side, our decisions are our decisions, not having to factor in someone else's "wants" and if we screw up? we don't have to hear "I told you so"s. What can I say...I understand...and we're here for you.
BERYL, how can you think that (3) 40 minute classes is not sufficient? omg...or zumba and barre...you are amazing
DR SUE, I'm about 90 minutes north of Westchester County. If you have extra time on the front or back of your trip, stop on by! Happy to hear the new vet is working out. I wouldn't be able to talk about Dec. either. Glad Fredo is on the mend.
LORI, nice that you are feeling better and were able to have such a nice dinner. Those squirrels are relentless, but, at least to me...lovable :-)
NICKY, hope all is going well and Guenther has continued long walks.

I have to say it seems like forever ago that I was sitting on the beach at Avalon and yet, it was only a few days. Oh team, I could have spent the whole summer there. Do you think I could have become part of the rental? "There's a beautiful house, one block from the beach, etc...oh btw, there's a woman who comes with it. She will be quiet and you'll hardly know she's there..." What do you think, team?

Oh, Kathie, I'm so sorry you're feeling this way! First off, this is a no judgement zone over here. You are a wonderful mom to those animals, Lori said it all so beautifully. You're going through so much, you have come so far, and yet you still have so much to do. It's overwhelming. No need to apologize or explain to us about your feelings, your emotions, whatever. We're all here for you, all the time.
Lori, so glad the shots helped! Are you clearer on what you're going to be doing when DD and the kidlets come?
Hi everyone else.
It's so hot here and going to stay that way. Hit the market this morning, then the Y for zumba, then ran to school to look over charts, back to the Y for barre, then for a massage, and now home having a lovely cup of tea before hitting the bookshelves upstairs.
Offered to babysit either tonight or Sunday night. DD and DSIL haven't been out in months. It's overdue.
My bookshelves await.
Have a good evening ladies.

Dear sweet Kathie,

You are Not a horrible person, you are an exceptional Mom, even to Charlie. There are so many emotions, churning in your mind and heart. I care, we care. You've become so important to me. I wish we all lived closer, so we could physically be together. You are right, doing everything alone is difficult on anyone, and you've been doing it for more than two years now. I wish that you could see yourself and your progress though our eyes. You amaze me, you inspire me, just reading your posts warms my heart. Look how far you've come, and please never forget how much We, your Team, love and support you. My son has two cats. I love them both. Yet, Frisco, maybe 16 years old, howls almost all the time. The Vet says he is healthy but has dementia. My son, G-d bless him, is so troubled by it but because the Vet says he's healthy my son continues to love and care for him, me, I'd go nuts, it's that bad, so I do understand you, ~hugs

Beryl, I'm with Dr. Sue, only 120 minutes of hard exercising, what a shame, NOT. You be AmAzInG to us and I meant "be", for the effect.

Dr. Sue, I'm so happy that the new vet is working out. Also, so glad Fredo is feeling better. I love hearing the horses upstairs too.

It's 104 out, 78 inside with fans blowing. DH is on his way home, we've much to do in preparation of our munchkins arrival. My back is getting better and that alone makes such a difference in my life. The squirrels are still winning and that saddens me but I will continue to keep them out and make our home a sanctuary for the birds and garden.

Hello dear Peg and Nicky.

~hugs, Lori

DrSue, glad Fredo is on the mend. Charlie & Annie have/had diarrhea again. I had some meds from the last bout and I think they are under control. Still waiting for a call back from the vet office but I am stuck home until the granite guys are done so I am just keeping my fingers crossed. Charlie had me out once in the middle of the night and that's a little scary.

I know I am making progress here but it doesn't seem like it. Because I was so tired I eased off a bit the past couple of days and I have no idea if today's installation will be as loud and messy as the plumbing and the demolition. My dilemma is storage. This house has enough space but not enough places. The kitchen is problematic. The floorplan is OK, not great but I can cope. The cabinets need more shelves, rollouts, etc. And even with that its 50% smaller than my last so even though I downsized I did not downsize enough. I also got rid of studio furnishings that I should have kept. I have yet to find a place to put away my studio tools, etc.

I think the hardest part is doing it all alone. Physically of course but also mentally and emotionally. There's no one to bounce ideas off and problem solve with. Or to go out with or have a glass of wine with at the end of the day. There's no DH, DD, DS, DB or D-anyone else who actually cares. So I think that's why I've been so exhausted. What I need is some order and peace in this house and the broken stuff to work. Then maybe I can return to my art and get involved again in the arts community.

OK, and here's the true confession. I hate to admit this and have not told anyone else. I do not love Charlie. I rescued him but he chose Bill. I did all his training but he only listened to Bill. Until we moved he waited at the door every day and night for Bill to come home. Charlie is a lot of work. He's willful and independent and a pain to walk on the leash. He needs meds. He slips and need to be dragged up by his harness and he weigh over 100#. At times I wish they had told me that his condition was terminal rather than treatable. My life would be much easier without him. But he loves people and he loves life. And he spends most of his days sleeping near wherever I am working. So I feel guilty for wishing him away. I feel like a horrible person sometimes.

Good morning team. Fredo is better today. He is not my Freakshow yet, but doing some normal things and ate a little. I will be ecstatic when it sounds like a herd of elephants is romping upstairs. Hot and horribly humid here, and staying that way. My new vet is awesome, and we have staked out my days off/vacation- through thanksgiving! We both balked at discussing December stuff. The year is going so fast.

Beryl, you ONLY took 3 x40 min workout classes??? Glad they were followed by a healthy dinner and wine.

Lori, I'm so glad you had a good dinner with stepdaughter. I hope the injections helped you.

Kathie, I'm sure you are still busy with construction. Perhaps you have new counters by today?

Peg, I hope you will spend some time in you pool in this heat! I might drive out! I will be in westchester Co next weekend for the US class. Bedford Hills. In the dark for three days.

Nicky, I hope you get to walk to the ocean again soon.

Have a great day!

Good evening team. Watching the convention. Saying nothing more.
DrSue, I'm glad you spent time snuggling. I'm so sorry you both are not feeling so well. I hope you both feel better really soon.
Lori, glad you had a nice dinner with DH's DD. That's nice she gets along with you and you're kind enough to celebrate with her. How do you feel?
Hi Peg, Kathie, Nicky, and anyone lurking.
Did muscle pump, zumba, and barre today. But each was only 40 minutes so it wasn't full hours. Lunch with DH who was off today--only had tomato soup. Everything else had too much of what I couldn't/wouldn't eat. But dinner tonight was good--fresh corn, steak, and roasted vegetables. PLus there was wine
Tomorrow is working out, running to the market and to school, and a massage at 3 since I cancelled the last one. Then on to that room again!! Books will be pitched. There is a resale book store near us. I may see if they'll take mine. Not textbooks, of course, but novels.
Peg, the Stephen King is ADDICTIVE!!!!
Have a good evening ladies!!

Hello Team,

We had a nice dinner out with DH's DD. Lots of laughter and good food.

Dr. Sue, yes I know how our kitties feel when we who lov than most, have to do uncomfortable things with or to them. I'm glad you chose to cuddle with F today before your surgeries.

Well it's quiet here, hope that means everyone is having a food day, ~hugs. Lori

Thanks team. Fredo is still not himself. No vomiting. Not eating quiet. Honestly, I'm not sure how much is sick and how much is sheer trauma. I feel like I have so violated his trust. Needless to say, my motivation is in the toilet. Big surgery day today. I should spin, but I'm going to go cuddle with my little guy.

Sounds like you are all doing well, have a good day.

Hello team,

OMG, Dr. Sue, I am so sorry about Fredo and his antics. My Livvy, has Pica. She eats almost anything and if she cannot eat it she just plays with it. We can have NO plastic bags, ever. She loves them and promptly throws them up. I'm praying that he feels much better and soon. Q, eating F's mess is just gross.

Kathie, yes, I'm with Beryl. Maybe a check up is in store for you. You have been doing so much for so long, maybe your body is trying to tell you something. How is Annie doing, and her siblings?

Beryl, when is DS gonna ask his girlfriend to marry him? Hmmm, your Mom's doctor, something is very strange there. Does your brother live closer to her, one of you need to go into her office and demand her attention.

Peg, I wish that your time away was longer. It really was an awesome time for you. I loved the Dolphin sighting. I'm glad that your fur babies did well, now you have no excuse not to do things like this more often.

Hello Nicky.

My friend just stopped by and we looked at my gardens, she is a much more experienced gardner than I. She was supposed to give me something for my back pain and we both forgot. Friends are good for the soul. Tonight DH and I are supposed to take out one of his daughters for her recent birthday. It will be nice, she actually likes me, just a little. We had a long conversation about his family, last night. They are very unfriendly and think poorly of me. But that is a whole other story in of it self.

Wishing my team a lovely afternoon, Lori

Good afternoon team. Today is the last day before the heat comes back, and it looks like it's going to be here a long time when it comes.
DrSue, sending good thoughts to you and Fredo. It's good he's with you.
Peg, I thought of you today when I went for a walk. There was a group of 5 or 6 folks in the state park with their easels and chairs and stuff painting. They had set up a red bicycle in the field and that's what they were painting. PLEIN AIR PAINTING!! I was so excited I knew what it was!
Lori, I agree about a schedule with DD and the kidlets. Hope the shots have helped.
Kathie, just a thought I had. Have you had any bloodwork done any time recently? Maybe anemia could be causing that exhaustion. You are doing so much--are you sleeping OK? I just always think ruling out physical stuff first. You may not even have a care provider there yet!
Nicky, your 8 miles are amazing to me!
I did zumba this morning then took a 45 minute walk before my blood donation appointment. THen hit a farmers market in town and got the most unbelievable tomatoes. Ate half of the small ones on the way to the car. Bought DD1 vegan cookies. The guy says they'll freeze well.
Don't want to involve my mother in this doctor debacle. She has not called me back. NOW I'm mad. Really mad. She is deliberately not returning calls and that isn't acceptable. But what do I do???
Off to eat my salad from dinner last night that we didn't eat.
Chicken and stir fried bok choy and mashed sweet potatoes for dinner tonight.
Have a good day ladies!

DrSue, no you can't make this stuff up. Poor Freddo. And poor you.I could picture the utter chaos complete with Q "helping". I'm glad you thought of the resistance band before you tried to use it and it snapped and hit you. Hope Freddo is better soon. Yes, and keep me posted on the anxiety remedy for Annie.

Peg, so glad your trip was wonderful. It sounded perfect. Glad the ice cream didn't trigger the cravings. I have yet to test my resolve. I drink that same protein shake in the morning. Easy and so refreshing

Nicky I'm impressed that you can hike 8 miles (and get Gunther to go the distance). You will be more than ready for CO this fall..

Beryl, I bit the bullet and got rid of most of my books. It was difficult and I didn't do it all at once. I kept my art books that I still reference and a few books that I treasure. And you know what, I don't miss a singe book I got rid of.

Lori glad you toe is healing too. Hope you get some pain relief from the shots. Can you talk to DD1 and work out a schedule that works for both of you? I hate to see you worried about her visit.

I am so tired. No mater how early I go to bed I wake up tired. I checked my fibit today and I log a mile with the dogs before coffee. The coffee helps for a while but it seems like by early afternoon I am shot.

I am not going to make my deadline for the next check in for online class assignment. I don't know if I will continue with this month's assignment. Its interesting but I am exhausted all the time.

Today I need to empty much of the kitchen for the demolition tomorrow. I'm cooking enough so that I can make salads or reheat things in the micro because I will be without a kitchen for a few days and perhaps without water in the kitchen even longer. Its just a step in the progress. But its going to be a noisy couple of days.

I made what I thought was a pretty decent marinade. In the food processor, toss a peeled and seeded orange, 2-3 cloves garlic, 1 tablespoon each safflower oil, sesame oil, soy sauce, rice wine vinegar. Make enough for large tuna steak and 1.5 # chicken breast.

Good morning Team!
Went to the gym. Trying to decide if I should mow. If I wait until tomorrow I can start earlier. If I do it today, it will be done. Not sure which.
DR SUE, I am so sorry to hear about F. Here's hoping for a speedy recovery and no long lasting effects. Sundae Best has a Kohler's donut flavored ice cream and no, I didn't try it.
Wishing my team a good day.

Peg, my grandfather picked up chocolate glazed doughnuts from Kholers bakery every morning for me! And we wonder where I developed bad eating habits?

Beryl, I look at my books too and wonder why I still have them. We have a great vet site Veterinary Information Network (VIN) where you get all the latest info, or post to experts on weird cases.

Fredo is a sick kitty today. He was hiding in the basement, didn't eat. Didn't fight being in the crate. Good news is that his radiographs and his bloods are all ok so far. NSAID toxicity in cats can cause renal damage. Needless to say he is here in the hospital.

I hope you are having a better day than I.

OMG, DR SUE! What a day! I'm sorry F ate all that stuff. I think Yoshi would, too. I have to cat proof the trash because he will pull it out and go through it and eat whatever. Not Ruby, mind you. She doesn't pull it out, but the cat does. (of course she's not above going through it after the cat does the dirty work) I hope he is ok. (btw the pet sitter called Yoshi "a dog in a cat suit" and he is.) We went to Sundae Best (on Dune) for the ice cream. my friend's kids couldn't wait until they could go to Kohler's Bakery.
BERYL, I LOVE John Barleycorn Must Die. Unfortunately, I don't have a turntable. Maybe I should buy one and then drive down to relieve you of your vinyl burden? lol Enjoy the massage. That book is on my request list from the library. Probably will be available sometime in 2017...
All's well here. Thinking I might go to bed early tonight.
Good night to all.

Oh Sweet Lord, DrSue, what a sh**show!! (Luckily you were spared that!)
Is your guess that he did NOT eat more than the one med, and the barfing was from all the other garbage he ate? Jeez, is there nothing he will not eat?? It would be funny if it didn't cause you such worry. I hope they're both OK. Like having toddlers in the house. I guess you need to babyproof again!
Burgers, salad, and corn for dinner. My favorite!
Reading Stephen King's newest. Can't put it down!
Forgot I am to donate blood tomorrow. So glad for emails that remind you! Scheduled a gift card massage for Friday. Can't wait. I think I have 3 more. Every Black Friday my favorite place sells half off gift cards and I buy a bunch, then don't use them!
Cleaned the desk off in my "office." Why, oh why, do I save what I do?? And I have built in bookshelves in that room. I don't think I've EVER gone through them. What on earth do I need my outdated nursing school books for? They are books, not stone tablets, although they may as well be as outdated as all that information is now!! I WILL go through all of them, standing on my chair to reach the high ones, and boy will that be a recycling day! I will then have all that shelving space!! With ereaders, no need to buy hardcopy books, so I do have more room. I also have a room with a huge amount of old record albums. Do I really want them? Anyone remember "John Barleycorn"? Want a copy?? LOL

Well, to quote Kathie, you can't make stuff up.

So I just fed the kids, gave Fredo his Pepcid, which I had to pill him because he wouldn't take it in his evening pill pocket. (He likes them, and Q is on thyroind meds twice daily, so it let him eat one). He wasn't so much into eating his food, but wanted treats. I heard him howl, and thought, he's gonna be sick. So I pop into the dining room, maneuver him OFF MY RUG, and heave ho! No blood, lots of activated charcoal, treats, huge hair ball, a piece of plastic, a leaf corn from co-op, and two good sized pieces of red plastic tubing. He barfed on his feet, so I scooped him up to avoid charcoal stains all over. I was planning on picking though it. I had scooted Q away and told him to leave it. Bad dog, I hear slurping. I have squirming cat, I'm yelling and running for the dining room and dear Q had almost "cleaned" it up for me. Only thing left was a few treats, some charcoal, and the smaller piece of red rubber tubing. So, as I was washing the floor, I was pondering on the thick red tubing, I don't have anything like that in the house. Then light dawned on Marblehead. Ran upstairs and Freakshow ate my red resistance band. Mainly just chewed holes in it but there was one nice severed edge where he must have bitten the pieces off. So aside from worrying about deramaxx toxicity, I have no idea how much band he ate, so I'm worrying about a GI foriegn body. Bonus- q ate the bigger piece, along with whatever else was wrapped up in there. emoticon

Peg, I am so glad you had a great time at the shore. Did you hit the Avalon Freeze for you ice cream?

Hello everyone. Sunny and finally drier and cooler. When it gets really HHH, I get bad headaches. So I woke with one yesterday and it bugged me though this morning. Today I woke feeling lousy, took excedrine migraine and a Claritin. I forced myself to get on my spin bike, thinking that it would help- ultimately it did. Halfway through I started getting GI cramps, so had a temporary interruption. Did finish, worked this morning. I have a very sad case at the office. I came home ate a good lunch and was changing to go the the gym, and noted crumbs on top of Quint's travel bag. It was closed but one zipper was partially open. The cover had come off of a bottle of Q sized deramaxx (NSAID) I suspect Mr. Fredo slithered in and got one. (Please God, I hope only one at most) DH came and picked us up, back to the hospital activated charcoal, and fluids, GI Protectants. I will have to do bloods in a couple of days. So we shall see. I am sick over it.

Beryl, I am making kimchi as we speak! It was a suggested use of cabbage from the co-op. Every week we get a newsletter, and they usually have a recipe, and or suggestions for some of the odder selections. How does your DH do his?

Nicky, hooray for making it to the Ocean with Gunther. Hopefully, with snack stops along the way, he will find it great fun going forward.

Lori, I hope the injections help. I too need to water my gardens. Somehow I'm not very motivated after the day I've had.

Kathie, I meant to mention this earlier. There is a new formulation for a drug that we use as a sedative. It is a low dose oral gel called Sileo, and it is specifically labeled for noise anxiety in dogs. We just got it in, but my other vey used it for some severe t-storms on her dog and it worked great. It does not cause sedation, in this dose/formulation. I will let you know how it works in my patients.

Peg, I hope you are enjoying Avalon.

Have a good night everyone!

Good afternoon Team! I'm baaack....It was wonderful. The beach was great, we painted outside and I walked quite a bit. It was fun! My friend, her DH and I stayed up later than anyone else each night and we talked and laughed. I haven't laughed that much in years...the kind of laughing that you can't even get out and then you end up snorting aloud. Their rental cottage is beautiful...4 bedrooms, 2 bath and a block from the ocean. Twice I saw dolphins "frolicking". The pet sitter worked out perfectly and she texted me after each visit to the "kids". Even eating was pretty good with but one stop at the local ice cream parlor and it was delicious and worth it and surprisingly, it didn't spark any cravings. One cocktail each night...Sun she made margaritas (not from a mix) (yum) and last night a gin and tonic. So much fun! I wanted to stay the whole summer. My sense of time was way off down there, too. On Monday I felt like I had already been there for days. And I didn't even see Rod Serling on a street corner or hear the Twilight Zone theme in the background. Seems unreal that I was at the beach this morning and now...here I am. Back to the real world. On the way back I got calls from the facility about some med changes based upon questions I had on Sat. That will work out.
So...everyone sounds fine and I am glad to hear that.
NICKY, what kind of protein, then? Is it because of the natural sugars from milk? My whey powder has whey and vanilla. That's it. A shake in the morning is my go to breakfast, fast, easy and filling with almond coconut milk, protein powder and frozen fruit. I've heard about insulin levels spiking when using sweeteners or even stevia, because even though they are zero calories, the body "anticipate" that it will be sugar and responds accordingly.
BERYL, I presume that your mother has signed the form so the doctor will talk to you. Jo will be fine; she has you to look out for her.
KATHIE, your kitchen will be beautiful! How is the online course going?
LORI, I hope the shots help and relieved that things are better at home.
DR SUE, hope all is well and keep counting down the days.
Have a good evening!

Peg

Hello Team,

Well I made it through yesterday. Now in just a short while I will get some shots to help me make it through this next month. Next week DD1 and my 3 babies will be here for 5 days. I'm so nervous. I'm not at all sure what she will be doing and what I will be responsible for. I'm going to have to ask her, I guess, duh?

Kathie, I'm so glad that your toe is doing better, as is mine. Mine is also on the top, so sandals work well. You have done so much so far as far as construction, good to keep busy. Give Annie a cuddle from me next time she hears thunder. I, too, was scared of it when I was little.

Dr. Sue, yes, as Nicky says, you are an angel. You give and give and then receive in your giving.

Nicky, OMG, this info is so crazy. It seems as soon as we learn something, someone else comes in and says what we learned is wrong. Glad Gunther and you got to the beach and back safely.

Beryl, you have so much good, and love in your life now. Yes, there is your Mother and brother, but look around at all your blessings, Jo, Ari, DDS and DS. You have so much to be proud of and I know you are.

Hoping Peg is enjoying her first vacation in so long. It's hot here, my gardens are calling me for some attention, but watering is all I can do and even that hurts my back.

~hugs, Lori

Good afternoon team. Sunny and not as ghastly as it's been. Nice break.
I am getting big black flies in the house. You all know how much I love the outdoors, let alone INSIDE! So I'm channeling My Big Fat Greek Wedding and walking around with Windex to spray them when I see them. Quite the look.
Quads still really sore, so did aqua zumba then regular zumba this morning and lay off the muscle pump today.
Kathie, big hugs to you today and everyday. You've come so far from that terrible day and time and we're all here for you when you need us.
Peg, enjoy Avalon!
Nicky, yay for Gunther and you!
Lori, hope the doc visit helped today.
DrSue, I've no doubt your parents greatly appreciate your being there and being together in October. Hugs to you too.
Called to speak to my mother's doc again today. Threw myself on the mercy of the lovely woman answering the phone. Asked what I can do, short of showing up and parking myself in the waiting room and bad mouthing her to all the folks waiting with me. She's going to try and was very sympathetic to my plight. So we'll see. She said to give it till tomorrow. I will.
Eating a lovely lunch of roasted brussels sprouts, leftover shrimp, and DDs homemade kimchi on whole wheat tortillas. A real treat!
Have a good day ladies.

KATHIE, the house stuff seems to all be coming into line. Congratulations on your organization abilities. You rock!
Anniversaries of sad times conjure up the full gamut of emotions. That you are busy and have all three of those fur babies who rely on you is a blessing.
DRSUE, you speak truth. I knew you were an angel, but that you choose to spend that anniversary with your parents is proof positive.

BERYL, I, too, have compared notes with my cousin about our parents. Yuk.
I get impatient with my step mom who DH says I refuse to acknowledge that she is "around the bend." It seems disrespectful to call her on some of her inconsistencies, if you know what I mean.

As for Jo and the low-fat milk~~~~~~~I'm horrified that docs continue to recommend low fat to children rather than cutting way down on SUGAR in any form. For crying out loud, children need fat for their BRAIN DEVELOPMENT!!!

Another Aha moment in the Dr. Jason Fung book that insulin levels are raised by Sucralose and stevia (HELLO) in the absence of blood glucose levels being elevated!!!! Holy Moly!
Insulin is the hormone of fat storage. One cannot lose body fat in the presence of elevated insulin.
Here's the diabetic who is taking his blood glucose after every meal and feels righteous because blood sugar isn't elevated after he drinks 2 diet drinks instead of eating lunch.

News Flash: Blew me away----Whey protein also elevates (maybe I should say "spikes") insulin!!! Dr. Fung is NOT a fan of whey protein shakes or liquid calories, for that matter.

Insulin is also elevated via the stress hormones. All the hormones talk to one another, of course, so it's easier for me now to understand why I get feeling of hunger when I'm anxious.
There are hormones released in the stomach and small intestine that Dr. Fung says act like a "second brain." OMG!! I'm the Woman With Two Brains!

Well, I managed to cajole Gunther through the 8 miles to the ocean and back yesterday!!! Was so proud of him! We stopped in a total of three stores where he knew they offered biscuits. We stopped on the grass at Ocean Park, and I shared some salmon jerky with him while we rested and cooled off. He also had some of his chicken jerky. We both had to stop a few times on the walk back because it was pretty warm by then. I hope this is the beginning of his starting to enjoy longer adventures.

LORI, that life is going a bit better for you and DH is wonderful. Prayer works.

PEG, my plan for CO is October 10ish, Columbus Day Weekend, so that DD doesn't have to take that day off from work on my account. I'm thinking I'd come in on a Thursday and come home on a Tuesday so that we could hike 4 days. I would also like to explore Boulder a bit. DD says I'd LOVE it there because they are my kind of people-----she means "crunchy,"
because I'm into "natural medicine," essential oils, fitness, craft, and knitting.

Tell us again when you are going to the shore? Do your friends have a/c, I hope? My cousin goes every 4th of July to the shore, but her friends' cottage is not air conditioned, and the guest bedroom has but one window. It sounds not fun to me.

Any chance to see my beloved La Mer is a good day, though.

Today will be a great day for all of us. Make it so!

Kathie, it sounds like things are moving right along. Good to keep busy. Two emotional events in one day. To some extent I understand, my bother was found dead the day before his fortieth birthday. I unknowingly, or perhaps subconsciously always take my vacation in October to include Oct 9&10. I know it helps my parents , as well as me to be nearby. Even if we don't talk about it. Big hugs to you today.

Good morning team. Hot here as well and we have been getting thunderstorms which is tough on Annie.

Lori, glad you toe is healing. Mine is as well--still tender but its only sore on the top so it doesn't impede walking etc.

Crazy week. The plumber was out and the drain pipe needs to be lowered so the deep sink will work. The guys had to take the drywall off the 1/2 wall (the one they lowered last week) on the dining room side. So much more construction dust all over that needed to be cleaned up last night.

The counters come off on Thursday and the granite goes in on Friday so I need to make some meals to get me through a couple of days with essentially no kitchen. A little more of a challenge the bread/rice/pasta/etc off the menu.

Got my NC drivers license and plates yesterday so I can cross that off the list. The list is long and I'm working it but today I really need so just move some stuff off my work table and spend time on my homework for my online class.

Today is Bill's birthday and the 2 yr anniv. of his funeral. I need to stay busy and not let myself fall down the rabbit hole.

Out to walk Annie before its too hot.

Good afternoon team.
Lori, glad you'll see the doc tomorrow!
My friend saw the doc today and the good news is he doesn't need surgery, just the brace for 6 weeks. He also is getting a brace for his foot which I asked him to ask about to help with his stability.
Muscle pump and most of zumba today. This heat is a killer. Takes so much out of you even going from a/c to a/c. Meeting my cousin for a drink later to compare family stories. Not in a good way. Her mom (my mother's sister) has dementia. Her sister has major depression and her brother is clueless.
Called my mother's doc for the FOURTH time to talk to her about my mother. It is definitely in her best interest to call me back today. lol
Finishing my soup for lunch. Making shrimp, mussels, and fake crab for dinner. YUM!
Have a good day ladies. emoticon

Good morning Team,

Oh Beryl, so sorry about your friend's hand. My toe is getting less painful with each new day.

I hope that Jo can drink 2% milk and like it.

I'm going to pick-up my grandson from VBS, today, and then hang out in my son's place. I've pre-warned them about my back and not wanting, or feeling up to anything but playing indoors with Luke.

Tomorrow I go to my Rheumy for more, much needed , injections in my back and hip.

Kathie, how is your toe?

~be well team, Lori

How much hotter can it get?? It takes forever for the car to get comfortable driving.
To Zumba and muscle pump today Ali g with farmers market. Frittata for dinner. Picking up the kids for frozen yogurt since its national ice cream day!!! emoticon
They told DD not to give Jo whole milk anymore as her weight seems to be an issue. She's a big girl (tall and sturdy) but both DD and her husband have terrible eating habits so this is bothering me a lot
Lori glad you found some relief from your pain and you're more comfortable with DH
Our friend called today to say his hand is broken. I feel terrible I had no way of knowing and thought his finger movement a good sign. X-ray vision is not my superpower.

Hello Team,

Peg wishing you safe travels to the Jersey Shores and many good things that make happy memories. Your grandson may just have found scholarships to great schools including college, what a blessing that would be for him and your DD.

We watched a couple of movies, ate my homemade chili with cornbread topping and had a very comfortable evening. I had so much back pain that I couldn't sit or lay on the couches so we brought in the air mattress and I finally found some relief. We are doing much better together. I think working with my therapist is just what our marriage and relationship needed.

~hoping my team is enjoying their Sunday, hugs, Lori

Good evening Team!
DGS's team lost both games today so no NJ tournament. They are through for the season and DD1 is just as happy about that as if they were going to NJ. The other team's coach asked DGS is he would play with them in the NJ tournament. Then, one of the fathers from the other team started talking to DD1 about DGS's future school plans and how DGS plays basketball and really pushing his school (a private one about 30 miles away from DD1) and the sports program and the benefits and on and on and on. Guess they were impressed...lol
After the games I stopped to see mom and spent quite a bit of time there as she was experiencing quite a bit of pain. Then some last minute shopping and home after 6. Packing and trying to organize things; I am so out of practice.
DR SUE, glad today continued to go well. Yes, this heat is brutal! Where is your class?
BERYL, welcome home! Yay on having a great time and being let in on "the secret".
LORI, hope your toe is ok. I don't think they really do much for broken toes except taping. They sure are painful; I've had a couple.
KATHIE, glad all that happened yesterday was easily resolved today. You've made such progress...whoo hoo.
NICKY, DS will come around again; it's all cyclical. I've always said that we raise our kids in such a way as to put ourselves out of a job. And yes, there is a wistfulness to that.
Sounds like my team is well. I'll be leaving early tomorrow morning so will check in when I return.

Hello Team,

Went to urgent care, x-rayed and not broken. It's a first for me, and I'm glad. Still hurts like a you know what.

Beryl, I missed you, every day. I wanted to talk with you but, I also, wanted no stress on your vacation. Our wonderful team has been so supportive and very much appreciated. I'm sorry about your friend, falling and hurting himself, that stinks, yet you reminded us of what we must do and I'm grateful for that advice. Mazel Tov on the soon to be proposal. How long have they been dating?

Dr. Sue, sorry about the disgusting heat, tho, you described it to the tee. I no longer find squirrels, inside my patio, cute. Now, outside, in the park is way different. I'm glad that your day turned out non-stressful.

Nicky, I'm with you on the relationship with children changing department. It sucks, there is no other valid description. I'm so sorry that you miss all that you used to do with him. Maybe, in your texts you can bring up that you'd like to connect that way again, how very important that would be to improve your quality of life?

~hugs, Lori

Feels like hell when I walk outside. YUCK!!
DH and I have certainly had our issues. I assume he knows what I want/need since it's obvious, but he's oblivious. I find I need to be very clear and concise when I say things, and need to speak up. It's still a struggle on an ongoing basis. We talk very little during the week--we both work, I'm always tired...whatever. we do go out every Saturday nite and that helps. But it's work, that's for sure. And it takes both parties to be committed.
It's hard

The day did remain sane. Went to lunch with friends as a farewell to one moving to Fla, Tuesday. I would not relish that trip this time of year, but I guess right now it's no worse there than here. Today is another super hot humid gross day. It is starting to cool a bit, so I will walk Q after five and his supper. I am the kennel kid tonight, so I will walk him down take care of the office and walk back home. I might make steps tonight. Last night was so disgusting no way was I getting it done.

Kathie, sorry about the meltdown, glad the toe is better.

Lori, I hope there is no broken toe in your life either. Squirrels can be pesky, but they are cute.

BERYL, YOU'RE BACK!!! YAY!!! MISSED YOU!
I know you must have had a glorious time.
Yes, I keep harping that we all need to maintain our flexibility. I learned this from my 'nother mother and step mom. Exercise was not fashionable in their era. Heck, I didn't really want to go to P.E. in high school because it wrecked my flip! I took dance instead; yeah, wrecked my flip, but at least we didn't have to shower!!

KATHIE, your Victor Frankl reference hit the mark! You are a marvel at saying the right thing at just the right time!
"Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom."
Forgot all about this quote!
More times than not forget that I HAVE A CHOICE; it's MY choice whether to make this day a good one out of what is perceived to be the ashes.

Oh, I'm so happy for you about the art jury. You and PEG are so freakin' talented.

I'm compelled to caution you emoticon to enjoy the process. I generally want things done yesterday, too.

LORI, I HATE SQUIRRELS!!! They eat my guava and persimmons; they taunt my dog, at which time it's all I can do to stop myself from shooting them with my 357 Magnum (not really)! BUT, I must admit it's a fleeting thought every time I see one of them torturing my dog!
We have huge crows landing in our trees and on our roof, too. They poop all over the place, all over the neighborhood. We have more creatures, it seems, down here in the city than up at the ranch(haha)!

Happy to hear the sessions are coming along. I don't know; we women seem to be reluctant to state openly what is bothering us before it festers. It's hard for me to just spit out what bothers me.

Haven't seen DS since May. I know he's alive because he answers my various texts with a one-word response.
I realize running the Intense Outpatient Rehab Clinic AND the sober living homes must be a daunting task. Sigh. I guess thinking about the ol' folks is probably way down the list.
I just miss what used to be. He was always over here, and we often hiked together or went to the movies. I miss the chats about nothing and everything. Such is life. Constantly told him that I am the mother wolf who drives her cub from the den when he needs to be released.
This mother wolf wants to take it back. . . emoticon

Back from our cruise ladies. I missed you all so and thought of you so much! Trying to quickly go back and catch up.
Peg, Avalon? I LOVE it there. Went there as a teen and have wonderful memories. Enjoy and have a wonderful time.
Kathie, some days, as you know, the best thing you can say is that they're over. {{hugs}}
DrSue, hope the quiet continues? Hard to know which is worse??!!
Nicky--missed you!! Hope you're well.
Oh Lori, I love you and am so sorry for what you're going through. You do not deserve any of it, with your loving heart and beautiful spirit and soul. Please feel my hugs through the computer.
we had a wonderful time. DS is going to propose--big secret he told us. We do like his girlfriend. We all got along well. Our one friend fell in Bermuda and hurt his hand, which he needed like a hole in the head considering he uses a cane to walk. Ladies--KEEP MOVING. He's 62 and we thought he was at least 10 years older. Get up and walk, do whatever. Poor Stephen is proof moving helps so much.
Ate and drank so much, but did purposeful exercise every day, whether in the gym or woggling 3 miles on deck. Plus took the stairs all the time. Whatever. My earrings still fit so that's good. emoticon

Hello Team,

Dr. Sue, I hope the day remained peaceful yet productive. I found the peppermint oil at Walmart. In the vitamin isle. Good thing that I like the spell of peppermint cuz I could smell it in my fingers no matter how many washings. I, also, bought something from green thumb, it is like a sand with all the scents that squirrels, rats, possum and many more don't like. I'll get you the name. I split a 4 pound bag with my friend.

Peg, OMG, your grandson is so good. I hope he wins today's game too. When do you leave for the shore?

Kathie, why, why, why? I'm glad it's all okay today but yesterday was a nightmare for you. I'm hopping that your toe is not broken. Last night I think I actually did break my big toe. I'm really not certain how it happened either. I got tangled in a towel on the floor. It hurt so bad, FM, maybe but I'm gonna have to get it xrayed, ouch. Could be nothing too.

Yesterday, while at Green Thumb, I took all three of my fuschia, the expert said that I must water them like this, so he watered them and told me that they will all come back. He asked if this was my first fuschia and my friend said no before I could. She told him how I was the fuschia whisperer. This shocked him and we brought them back home. He says in three weeks they should look a whole lot better.

~wishing my team a wonderful Saturday, Lori

DrSue, hope your day stayed quiet. Hope you have some time during he ultrasound class to take a bit of a vacation. NYC or somewhere else?

Lori, I'm glad the counseling sessions are helping you and DH to communicate. Good luck with the squirrels. I sure don't miss the ones that used to throw heavy pine cones on the car. Nasty little beasts.

Peg, glad that DGS team won and he pitched a great game. Have fun at the shore.

Yesterday did not end well. I had a bit of a meltdown. They handyman blew out my DirecTV connection, I dropped my new grill on my toe while trying to unload it from the car. But today the toe is bruised, not broken as I fear. The damage to the grill stand was minimal. DirecTV came out and replaced the fried box for no charge. And today I set up my real computer.and everything works.

So tonight I will grill something for dinner. Slowly getting tings set up. I'm just not a patient person when it comes to living in chaos.

Hi Nicky and Beryl.

Good morning team. Sounds like things are good here. I have been very busy with work. (Broken record). It was nauseatingly hot and humid yesterday. Set up a kiddy pool for Q in the yard. He likes it. I am at work and the feces have not yet hit the rotor. It is Sat, so who knows.

Lori, I'm glad you and DH are working it through. I hope your back feels better. I need to try the peppermint oil at the cottage for the mice. Where did you buy it?

Kathie, it sounds like it is amazing! Great on the art Safari. Sounds fun. Your house sounds great. Glad you have a good handy man, that you like and trust.

Peg, enjoy the shore! emoticon Lots of great scenery to paint. Nice boardwalk to walk. Also a great place to rent a bike. Enjoy! You deserve to get away. Your garden sounds nice to me. I have a container garden on my upper deck.

I'm sure Beryl is having a grand time. Talk about a break from the heat!

Nicky, you always have a wealth of information. It is all so complicated. I hope it is not so hot for you and Gunther.

Ok team I guess I should sign off for now. I'm scared how calm it is at the office. It is usually when it seems calm that all heck breaks loose. Think smooth thoughts for me. 6 weeks to go! I will be at the lake the last weekend in August. I did just arrange to go to NY for a three day ultrasound class July 29-31, so I will have a weekend away, if not exactly "off". It will break things up a bit, and cover my CE for the year.

Just a quick check in, Team. Home from DGS's game. They were behind 2 - 0. Then one kid hit a single and DGS got up and hit a home run, tied the game. An inning later they scored another run. DGS pitched the whole game and they won. This series is a best of three. So, if they win the first game tomorrow, that will be it. Then they play in a tournament in NJ. If the other team wins both games tomorrow, DGS's team is through. Big storm came through during the game. What awesome clouds. Afterward, the most amazing sunset.
LORI, glad last night was helpful and there is improvement. As for garden beds...what 12" drain. My beds are mainly raised beds.
Good night team.

Hello Team,

Well as far as Lori versus the squirrels, squirrel won first. Last night I got both peppermint oil and two sharp cacti, only put the two cacti in last night. This morning the cacti were knocked down. Then I picked them back up and poked myself on the bougainvillea branches. Ouch, got the cotton balls out, soaked them in the peppermint oil, put them with the cacti. Well it appears that I am winning this battle. Just put some more in my gerber daisies as they ate those too.

Dh and I went last night to our therapist. We discussed a lot and it was good. We are once again in the same bedroom. I do feel much better with him in my bed than in the guest room. Baby steps. My back is still so painful. It's a challenge to do anything, especially sit down and then get up.

Kathie, another excitement for you being accepted to the art safari. I hope that it doesn't stress you out more than it delights you to finish getting your forever home ready.

Peg, I may go to flower beds instead of pots next year. I just have to figure out how to keep the drain open, it is at least 12" in diameter. Hot here too. I'm going out with my friend to walk a nursery or two, as much as my back can take, that is.

~hugs, Lori
