My 2013 Health goals is divided into several levels. The first was to get back to what had been my highest weight ever -154, then get down to what I weighed when I was diagnosed with with Sweet's Syndrome in 2007 and started on steriods for years - 135. Then to what I weighted when I got married in 2004 - 127. I had done a lot of work to get at the weight after my last husband had died in 2002. I had even gotten down to 120 that year and then gained some back when I had to cut back on exercising and had neck surgery.

My riding goal was to learn to ride a motorcycle after we got the CanAm Spyder Roadster RTS in July 2012. I started my driving lessons on that in April. My goal was to be able to drive it by CMA's State Arkansas Rally in August. I did my first riding alone in the middle school and high school parking lots with my husband watching. The high school parking lot had lots of light posts to circle around. My next driving was with my husband as my passanger and instructor. Some days I couldn't even remember the sequences to get started. One day I did so badly about a mile from home the computer screen said Limp Home. The bike was ok, it's computer was just telling me to get my act together and drive right. The in August when to bike had to be trailered to repair shop for battery cable issue and we went to pick it up. I did my first solo ride of 85 miles. That was on August 10th the day after my 69th birhday.

The bike rally started the next weekend. I drove the first 80 miles then my husband and I swichted seat and he drove the rest of the was because I had to read map instuctions and look at gps and my ipad when we would stop. But on our 225+ miles home I did about 150 miles of driving.

My other personal goals include getting my house organized and get some medical issues under control.

My 2013 goal is to reach my natural body weight. I have set a goal to be at 170 by July. I am going to do my best to reach that goal. Then go on from there. I want to do more activity this year just because I can. I am healthier and weigh less than I have in years. I want to ride my trike more this year. I have a new attitude on life. While you are alive: live.

Nell your friend does a lot of LD rides. Wow 6 days and 49 States! I am good for 700 to 800 miles on day one but the rest I try to keep under 600. My last trip from Washington DC back to Portland OR. took 4.5 days averaging 600 miles/day. for a total of 28001+ miles. Kind of grueling especially after spending the previous12 days averaging 350 miles /day with a large group like Run For The Wall with 700+ riders with several stops for fuel and meals.

Chuck, one of the guys we have been riding with for years, is an LD rider. He did the 49 states in 6 days or something like that, likes riding 1000 mile days. He has also ridden his bicycle cross country twice. We mentioned that at least he saved money by not having to buy gas, but he said that he spent far more on food than he ever would have on gas. And still ended up each trip thinner.

What are your goals for 2013?

Health Goals - Lose up to 40 lbs by May 15 through daily exercise with cardio and strength exercise. Cardio will include C25K training with a 5K Shamrock Run in March. Rowing machine and recumbent bike and bicycle.

Riding Goals - Ride various events such as Rose City MC 250. 500, and 1000 mile runs. Run For The Wall ( Los Angeles to Washington DC), Hells Canyon Rally (Baker City, OR.), Star Touring & Riding group rides,Various Toy and Food drives runs and Patriot Guard Riders Missions.

Other Personal Goals - Play with my new toy a 1985 Chev. El Camino and hit a few car shows, Clean out my garage to make more room for the motorcycle, make an In-N-Out Burger run (844 mile round trip)...They are worth it!!

I have several goals, one of which is to get to goal weight by my birthday.

Take lots of good rides this year.

Travel to see the various kids.

Riding Goals: 2 rallies. I had to cancel two rallies at the last minute last year because of problems with Mom. I'd like to actually travel some this year, even though being gone for more than a week isn't in the cards anymore.

Other goals: get the 2/3 approval at the condo where I serve on the board, to get the bylaw changes I have been pushing for years.

Everything has to be fit around Mom's life, and her catastrophes, both large and minute, happen suddenly and all too often.
