I'm afraid I'd have been right there with your husband. 42 degrees is a heat wave in the winter. It's supposed to get to 50 today here, so I rode to work, only had to dodge a few ice patches and sand patches. In addition to the 3 layers, etc, I also have heated gloves I wear. :)
I'm glad it's not just me! Today and tommorrow is supposed to be in the low 50's. If I get off a little early, I may put on the layers for a trip to the store in neighboring town. Seems we ran low on coffee and hunny says that it's too far to drive to town to get his favorite brand, he'd just pick up the other brand at the local store. hmmmmm...nothing is too far for a bike with good fuel mileage :) Liz
We've had the coldest weather in 20 years these past few days, so I didn't ride, either. Even my son-in-law hasn't ridden every day, and he ALWAYS rides. We haven't had ice, though, so that's not a problem. It's supposed to rain later this week, so I won't get to ride this week, either.
I so wanted to take one out for just a little while this weekend but... it never got above freezing and the garage is not heated and it would've had to involve Rob to get something started and out so... I didn't ask that of him.

Life isn't about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain.
These men are nuts! My husband rode all winter last year - provided there wasn't snow or ice. It's not worth the aggravation of putting on all of those clothes for such a short period of time. The only reason that he's not riding this year is because he had to move the bikes into the basement to make room for some supplies in the garage, and it's a pain in the butt trying to get them out!

It has been below freezing for days, but yesterday it warmed up to 42 in the afternoon. Steve decided to take the bike for a spin to charge the battery. He was disappointed that I did not want to go. hmmmm....that's why I have it on a battery tender, life support for the winter. I tried to explain to him that putting on 3 layers of clothes, boots, gloves, coats, and helmut is just not worth it for a 10 min ride. I'll ride in the cold, but let's go somewhere, I've got layers! He on the other hand just puts on jeans and a coat and goes, so of course he won't last long.
