My vest can be a little tighter than I want, so I use one of the chains that snap in the front to gives me a little extra room and is cooler in the summer.

Icon make some really nice leather vests with armour built in, and they are known for their women's motorcycling gear. I can't stand the cheap, "Village People" style vests, but my club requires that our colors be worn on a leather vest, so I shelled out for the Icon "Regulator" vest, which I love. The women's version (the "Bombshell Hayabusa") is beautiful, and actually fitted to a woman's form.

They don't run cheap, but they are miles ahead of the cheap chinese leather vests sold at most biker shops and rallies

I think the makers of all leather goods think that biker chicks (gals) are all size 2 to 4. I am with you they do tend to run very small in size. The size listed on garments are made smaller than normal sizes. I cannot order regular clothing online much less leather. I am such a weird shape anyway until I don't trust to order things. If I can't find it in a store so I can try it on I refuse to buy.

Ah leather, looks good but getting a fit is a nightmare. I have to go with larger sizes when buying but then I run into other problems. Either it fits through the chest and to loose through the waist area. Like Wild says hope you know how to or know a good tailor. The price of being a biker.

Do you have a store nearby that sells leather vests? If so, stop in there and try some on.

I would always go to a large (especially if buying online). And, although it is a pain to have a tailor take the vests in (especially a tailor who can sew leather) it is impossible for a tailor to make a leather garment a whole size bigger (unless you add a strip of material/leather into the side seams)
I worked at a top notch tailor shop for three years (long time ago).
Maybe if the vest were a good enough bargain it would be worth doing this?
