lucky you Barb to get out, I guess that is a plus living in florida! Being in the north east we still have about 2 feet of snow. Its melting, and not that its on the roads, so we could ride. Unfortunately our bikes are held captive in the car port we have them in. I think we need to fix that for next year. lol… but soon hopefully even if we need to shovel a path to get them out. :-)

No riding today because it's been raining/storming all day, and hubby had to work. But we did ride all day Saturday and Sunday. Saturday we rode around central Florida along back roads, had lunch and just a relaxing ride. In the evening I followed my husband to dinner and a car show on my own bike. Sunday we rode together on his bike for about 8 hours, long enough to completely wear down my mp3 player battery! We rode along the west coast of Florida. Some beautiful scenery (I never get tired of water) and a LOT of other riders out and about. This weekend was perfect weather for anything outdoors. Looking forward to riding again next weekend and then my husband has 5 days off the following weekend for a nice long ride. I really need to get a portable charger for my mp3 player so I don't run out of tunes!

On New Year's day we took our first ride since September, I think I'm ready to get back at the controls again, just don't know how far I can drive. Have problems with my right hand and left shoulder.

I haven't ridden since truck accident in September, finally got my cast off last week but my wrist and 3 fingers don't work yet to get back on the CanAm Spyder. My husband has been unable to ride either due to his back and then a week ago he had emergency surgery. We will be back even if it is me mostly at the controls. We have lots of biker friends that are very supportive of us whether we are on 2-3 or 4 wheels

How exciting Sugar! I love when I can find someone new to ride with. I don't ride to work (I don't trust the traffic!)

If things work out, I think I may go for a ride this weekend.

I rode today to work (only been there about a month now) and found out one of my female coworker's ride as well (over 20 years of experience). I received an invitation to ride with her and some of her other riding buddies. I'm so excited! I've been riding solo.

Mary Ann,I've been to many rallies where some people show up in cars because of wounds. All are always welcome. Better to come safely on 4 wheels than risk further injury on two.

I have missed riding since Sept 8th when I was in a wreck and broke my hand {my husband and I were passengers in a cousins truck.) Two weeks ago my husband had surgery so we are both temporally grounded. October 16 begins our big CMA bike Rally so Hope Zack gets clearance to ride when he sees his surgeon day before rally starts. I won't get my cast off until the day after the Rally ends, so I can't be at the controls until after that.

Hello Everybody,

I finally made it back to East Texas. I left Lexington Park, MD on Friday. Rode to about 50 miles west of Nashville, TN. Saturday, I met my son and his girlfriend in Conway, AR. We rode up Hiway 7 to Harrison, AR, then to Springfield, MO and went dancing. We got back to Harrison about 2 AM. Monday, Travis & I rode up to Eureka Springs, AR, picked up Shanon and rode down Hiway 23 "The Pig Trail" to I-40 then over to Clarksville, AR' where we picked up Hiway 21 to Boxley, AR. We saw about 50 elk and a few deer between Boxley and Ponca.
At Ponca we picked up Hiway 74, and rode over Mt. Sherman to Jasper, AR where we hit Hiway 7 back to Harrison. Tuesday, I rode back down to Timpson, TX. Heck of a pretty ride. Lots of curves, lots of miles, and lots of fun, too.

Had a great weekend ride. Hubby and I went to the Hells Canyon Motorcycle Rally in Baker City, Oregon. I put over 1000 miles on the bike. We rode there (over 300 miles), did daily rides on Friday and Saturday and then rode home.

We are having our kitchen redone, and starting next week we won't have a garage. The bikes will have to be put up like they are in winter just to protect them from the dirt and the equipment. Once the workmen are finished and every last nail is found and cleaned up, then we can ride again. A tough summer, but doing a kitchen is better in warm weather than cold. At least I'll have a grill for the 6-7 weeks the whole thing will take.

My 9 year old Grandson, my new dog, and I left East Texas on the 12th. We rode up through Arkansas, across the boot heel of Missouri, into Tennessee, across Kentucky and into Illinois. We visited Metropolis, the home of Superman. We then took some back roads to Indiana and crossed back into Kentucky at Louisville. We took US 60 and crossed the Ohio River into Ohio and back across into West Virginia. We crossed West Virginia and Virginia and arrived in southern Maryland the evening of the 14th. 1554 mi. in 3 days. We went on the Brain Freeze Poker Run on the 22nd and rode up to the Big Rig Nationals truck drags at the Maryland International Raceway on Sunday the 23rd. We have been having fun riding around southern Maryland, swimming, and watching the deer at the campground.

I had a good holiday weekend. My son called me Sunday morning and asked what the weather was supposed to do. He said he was going to ride his Road King down to visit. Pappy, my 12 year old Granddaughter, and I rode up to meet him. We met in Hope, AR about 180 mi. We all rode back together. Then Monday Issac, my 9 year old Grandson and I rode back as far as Texarkana with him. We had to come back so we could go swimming at Lake Timpson. Had a lot of fun and enjoyed the visit. Issac and I are planning to leave for Maryland around the 12th of June. This should be an interesting 1300+ mi. ride with a 9 yr. old. I haven't decided yet exactly what route we are going to take.

Hooray, I made it home. 741 mi. Wed. Rain again in Richmond. 595 mi. Thur. Tried to loose my windshield. Had to stop at Chunky River Harley-Davidson and get some new bolts, grommets, and washers. A little rain around Jackson, MS. Made it home about 10:30 pm, but was disappointed that I didn't make it in time to listen to the awful, I mean delightful band concert.

What the heck was that hail we had here over the weekend. This morning I had to turn on the furnace it was 31. Now I'm pretty hard core when it comes to the cold but I don't have heated gear so when it gets below 45 I can't put on enough clothes to be able to look both ways! So no, I didn't get to ride today and probably not tomorrow either. I had to put gas in the car which really irritated me because once the weather breaks, my bike is my primary transportation. I thought I was in. emoticon

Well, I made it to Maryland last Wed. I rode 730 mi. on Tues and 595 mi. on Wed. It was a good ride. I hit a rainstorm in Richmond, VA right at evening rush hour. It rained about the last 100 mi. of the trip. I will head back to TX this Wed. Debbi got me a back rest for my birthday. It will make the trip back better.

Didn't get home until late yesterday but we rode up into the mountains, through miles of purple carpeted fields and pastures of wild flowers. The road was a twisty, single lane with no place to pull over to take pictures . . . but I will always remember riding through a postcard!

Monday: Rode to Timpson and serviced the bike, then my grandson & I went to Center to get meds & fuel. They graded our road today so its like riding on 2" ball bearings about 3" deep. I took the bike and left it at a friend's in Timpson so I wouldn't get a flat on our road about 60 miles total today. Tuesday morning leaving for Maryland. Plan about 750 miles Tues. and 565 Wed.

Rode Saturday over 200 miles up in Washington along Hwy. 14 and around Klickitat Canyon. Sunday rode with my group the Motor Queens for a birthday ride to lunch. For me, it was too many curves. A lot of 10 and 15 mph curves. Of course that made the 20-30 mph curves easier....

Yesterday, I followed my son around a meandering route, about 50 miles, while he learns how to ride on roads with other drivers. As a recent graduate of the MSF basic rider course he demonstrated the skills necessary to get an M/C license now he has to learn to ride in a hostile environment. We were fortunate to get any saddle time, between rain, storms and fairly strong winds.

The more we use the Scala G9s the more impressed I am. Rider to passenger, Bike to Bike - Up to 8 linked G9s -, Bluetooth audio for GPS, media player, phone etc (a max of 2 simultaneous connections) and voice command. Slightly expensive but great value given the clarity and features. If anyone is thinking of a rider to passenger / bike to bike comm set the Cardo Scala Rider G9 is worth a look.

Stay safe all, and keep the Shiney side up.

When life provides A LeMans mount up and ride. WOO HOO!

Yesterday, Sat, I went to Nacogdoches and picked up my granddaughter, she was already there. We went to the skating rink. We had a nice ride home (67 miles total). We are not going to discuss the skating. It's been 35 years. Nough said. I think I will stick to the motorcycle.

Last Wednesday I left home in Timpson, TX and rode 402 mi. to my son's in Harrison, AR. Thursday I took him to Rogers, AR, about 90 mi. through Eureka Springs to pick up his first Harley, a 2007 Road King. We then rode back to Harrison. It rained Friday & Saturday. Sunday we rode over to Jonesboro , 182 mi. to look at a dog that I am supposed to get the end of May. The dog's name is Skip. He is part Jack Russel Terrier. He is brown and white. The special thing about him is he has a white mohawk and mane. I have to figure out a way to carry him on the bike and get him used to it before the grandkids and I head to Maryland this summer to visit my wife. We rode back to Harrison that evening. It was pretty cold going back. Then Monday I rode back home. I am planning a trip to Maryland over Mother's day weekend. Leaving the Wednesday before and starting back the Monday after if the weather halfway cooperates.

You lucky skunks! It is going to be nice enough to ride here in a little bit and I dare not take my bike out before I change the oil. Yes, I've been putting it off to the point of desperateness (is that a word? ha) Yes, thing is i can't get the nut off as it's on there tight and when I go to wrenchin' it, the whole bike starts to wobble so I have to wait till someone comes over here before I attempt it again. I don't want to be found like the wicked witch with just my feet pokin' out from underneath.

I've been riding every day since last Friday! Temps are perfect - mid 70's . . . sunshine, blue skies! Woooohooooo!

Yesterday, Bad Leroy Brown went with me for a practice run in his new Outward Hound doggy sling and doggles.

Happy mom, happy pup!

We were supposed to go riding out to Multnomah Falls but my man got sick. I am so disappointed... It feels like its been forever since I've got to ride. The weather has been crap but it is supposed to be in the high 70s by Wednesday. I'll be holding my breath! Oregon is so unpredictable this time of year until late June. I am definitely ready to ride... emoticon

Hubby made some adjustments to my windshield and shocks after we got home and I'm planning to take it out for a test drive in a bit..... between the showers.

I rode Easter Sunday, I didn't ride far, but the fact that I had to dress a little warmer and put on my heavy boots, that in itself was an accomplishment. Went to my Mom's and back and put my dirty bike back up. Need to wash and wax, and check out oils and everything else. It was good. emoticon

My wife and I spend about 8 to 9 months a year in the Philippines and 3 to 4 months in America, Michigan. I'm almost 69 years old and the heavier motorcycles are just the heavy for my. I ride a 2008 Suzuki GS500F. It weighs about 440 lbs with a full tank of gas. It's easy for me to move it around. I have a couple of close friends that ride but I usually ride alone. My wife enjoys riding with me so she goes with me sometimes. Here in the Philippines the drivers are such crazy drivers I feel it is not safe to ride a motorcycle here, though I have thought about buying a 125CC. I'm not sure I will but I do think about it often. I have a close friend here that rides a three wheeler. Ride safe my friends.

I have lost 6 pounds. Though I am not trying as hard as I feel I should I am very happy about the weight loss. Good luck to all of you.

Pouted part of the weekend because Saturday was a decent day to ride and I didn't. I went instead and worked out. If I had planned it better, then I would have ridden to the workout and met everyone afterwards. Next time!

I remember not that long ago when the list of motorcycle ads in the paper was so short in winter because no one was riding. It was the time to find good deals, though. Spring was heralded by longer For Sale ads as much as by crocuses. In this internet era, though, that is all gone. When was the last time anyone bought or sold (or rented an apartment) from an ad in the paper?

The motorcycle is parked in the garage today for Super Bowl Sunday R-n-R. I actually haven't been able to ride for awhile since I'm on crutches. Still a couple of weeks of that to go and then some strengthening before I can ride. Hopefully I'll be back in the saddle the first part of March in time for some great spring riding.

No riding today, still dark when I left the house for work, raining, dreary and traffic starting to build up already. Besides my riding to work days are rare these days. It's not nearly as much fun to ride straight flat 4 lane highways as it was to ride English country roads and duel with mid 70's London traffic emoticon

Rode 7, yep SEVEN, different bikes this week-end.

Saturday: Rode my '78 Moto Guzzi Lemans to the bike Dr. a short 45 mile jaunt, 15 highway, then 30 miles of warm up curves and progressively fun twisties towards some of the best riding in N. GA. Ms Raspberry is in for an oil change, improved sparking and a new center stand. Imagine that, after languishing in a dry, mostly warm garage, for 15 of her 34 years some of her parts are wearing out.

Sunday: 2 Starbucks runs, roughly 40 miles total. Then off to the local HD dealer for the first of 2013 Monthly Demo Days. The dealer makes one of each model, except the Ultra Classic, available to test ride, anyone attending can ride any or all of the bikes. Our KC-HOG chapter is invited to provide Road Captains and experienced riders to lead, and sweep, potential customers around a 5 mile loop.

This time I rode "Sweep" on my 2008 Dyna Super glide AND the following 2013 models. Dyna Swithchback, Softtail Deluxe, Softail HeritageSofttail and a Road King.

All in all A Fantastic week end.

emoticon

Post Script.
The 7th bike was DSs Honda Rebel, just around the block, DS is having trouble getting Neutral, a common complaint on the Honda Rebel that generally goes away as the rider gains experience.

Having a bike at the polls might have been dangerous. There were so many cars moving around constantly in the parking lots and every surrounding street, it was hard enough to be a pedestrian. I'd have been terrified on the bike.

Great weekend of riding. Left Thursday to head to Joseph, OR for the Bronze Biker Rally. It's about 375 miles there. Friday did Rattlesnake Grade and then on Saturday rode to Imnaha and then to Halfway, OR. We rode home Sunday. Did about 1000 miles. So different from last year when all I could do was ride there and back - not day rides. I also had today off in case we wanted to stay an extra day. Since we didn't, I went ahead and rode my bike around town on errands. Great time riding. emoticon

Rode yesterday (Sunday) with friends about 200 miles. It was hot and I kept hydrated. I did wish I had brought my neck wrap for extra coolness. We did have someone who didn't drink as much water as he should have and felt a little sick after one of the legs of our ride. Glad we were resting for a while. He didn't look so hot. It is SO important to keep hystrated especially in hot weather.

Hi Riders!

I ride every day, but it is usually not a very long ride...you know...to the bank, to the drug store, etc.

Yesterday I drove my Harley FXD about 200 miles. I am not used to it (I am old!). Don't ever let anyone tell you you don't use muscles riding a motorcycle. You do! And I will tell you which ones...lower back, shoulders, neck, triceps. These are all the muscles that are hurting this morning. Ouch! I feel like I have been through a workout!

Been riding a lot. So far since July I the long rides I have ridden are:

350 mile weekend around Mt. St. Helens, then down 101 into Oregon
900 mile weekend from Oregon to Washington then over to Victoria, Nanaimo BC
Ride to Bend and the Lava Caves and back to the Valley
Ride up the McKenzie River Pass, to Sisters Oregon and back to the Valley

Fun!

Only rode 460 miles today. Alas, the range of hubby's new Can Am is only about 140, so we have to stop so often that the 600 mile days are a thing of the past. I guess our long rides all over the country are over.

Rode in the Battleground WA. Harvest Day Parade. Had my Grand-daughter throwing candy at the crowds. Her 1st parade and she had a blast.. A bunch of us from the Patriot Guard Riders and others from VFW riders gathered for the ride.

Haven't gone for a ride in about a month. Threw out my back while I was on vacation and just when it was getting better, it started hurting again. ugh.

The sunshine keeps on shining here in Oregon and the bike gets to come out and play more often. Looking forward to some day-rides along the Oregon coast.
