Actually Janette had been bitten by a venomous snake somewhere on the road here (Tasmania) a few days earlier. She'd not only finished the run that day but stubbornly - yes, typical vegan! - refused to abandon the project and go for hospital treatment. She showed us the snakebite :-) I think the book will be worth waiting for. She's going to talk in it about all sorts of things: the amount of rubbish by the side of the road, doctors (she's not a big fan), the attitude of truck drivers to anything smaller than their vehicle, the mental challenges of the marathons, etc.
I met them in Hobart when their daily marathon finished here on 22 December. In fact our Raw Enthusiasts group held a potluck for them. They're a sweet couple, although they were a bit weatherbeaten by the time they got here! They said they had trouble in remote areas getting enough fresh food. In those places they got by, no kidding, on chia and almond milk breakfasts, dried fruit lunches and coleslaw dinners. All the while still running a marathon a day :-) Janette said she's putting together a book about their running and their diet, and there will be a tour including North America when that comes out later this year. Amazing lady, she was given a few months to live 10 years ago due to cancer and then switched to a vegan diet. Alan
