I did the same thing. I was receiving 20-30 emails a day from Spark and just couldn't keep up. There were teams I just wasn't all that active in and frankly didn't connect with anymore. I did a complete overhaul on my Spark account. I left teams and adjusted my email notifications to only those I wanted to receive. That alone helped save me hours in the day.

Then I went and unsubscribed to a lot of emails and newsletters I just didn't have time to read anymore or lost interest in. Again another time saver. But I'll be honest, I need to do it again.

I also set up a separate email in Yahoo for shopping sites, newsletters and Spark. I don't have it in my usual email and it helps not to have to check it all the time.

the problem with multitasking is that we can't...the brain is wired to do one thing at a time.

At one point I had over 500 emails (most from spark) so I started the inbox I have inbox for all the different site that I receive including a spot for spark mail.

I also got rid of emails I wasn't interested in anymore.

I also left several spark teams and that helped with less email.

Great article! I have toyed with the idea of a technology free weekend. I think once you get used to it you would really enjoy it. I have stopped checking my phone 5000 times a day and am down to maybe 3500. emoticon

I have actually gotten rid of a lot of sites I formerly subscribed to for the very reasons she mentions.
