It's that time of year when getting back outdoors (unless you live in a nice, sunny climate), getting into shape and thoughts of races come to mind. Whether you are contemplating a 5k or a marathon, there are lots of training plans out there. Here is are two links and Spark People has a training schedule too: www.runnersworld.com/running-times-5
If, like me, you are a walker, or a run/walker, just walk and do the distances. I used to see how fast I could walk a kilometer. These links post distances in miles as well. I find I stick to an exercise plan much better when I have a race as a goal. So set a goal. Remember every hour of exercise is good for burning about 100 calories.
