My goal has been to walk 1-2 hours a day. I look forward to it. Not only is it good for muscles, bones and heart, but the endorphins relieve stress and produce a calming effect.

Walking is my favorite form of exercise. Thanks for reminding me that it really is good exercise. Glad to hear it's helped with your arthritis Boni!

this just reminds me I need to put my pedometer back on and get moving more. Another great article.

I started walking years ago to alleviate the symptoms of arthritis. The more I walked the less the arthritis seemed to bother me. Then I got addicted to it. Started out going in 5ks and went up from there. This is a great article for those of you just starting out. Swede Su I know can log 16 000 steps a day and many of us do the 10 000 steps a day challenge which translates to about 6 miles. When I train for halfs, although I am a walker, I run up any hills I come to to build up my endurance and get the heart rate up. www.runnersworld.com/beginners/walk-
