My goal has been to walk 1-2 hours a day. I look forward to it. Not only is it good for muscles, bones and heart, but the endorphins relieve stress and produce a calming effect.

I started walking years ago to alleviate the symptoms of arthritis. The more I walked the less the arthritis seemed to bother me. Then I got addicted to it. Started out going in 5ks and went up from there. This is a great article for those of you just starting out. Swede Su I know can log 16 000 steps a day and many of us do the 10 000 steps a day challenge which translates to about 6 miles. When I train for halfs, although I am a walker, I run up any hills I come to to build up my endurance and get the heart rate up. www.runnersworld.com/beginners/walk-
