Oh, it looks beautiful, but too expensive at this time. I just got back from a special trip to Italy and Slovenia, so I spent my fun money already. I hope you have a wonderful, meaningful experience. You never know, we might still get to meet -- we can play it by ear (ha ha, if you're more musically talented than me.)

It sounds great. Who's putting on the yoga retreat? I practice yoga, too. Everyday. Although I haven't taken classes for more than 30 years (yep, that long ...)

I'm going in February to a yoga retreat. So unfortunately hubby isn't coming with me. I'll be there from Feb 15 - 22. I don't have the schedule so I don't know what kind of free time I'll have.

Hi Kelly,
I'm on Oahu, but let's keep in touch. Maybe we can work in a visit. That would be great! How long will you be here?

Oh, can I go with you Kelly! Please, please, please!!! I don't eat much and I promise not to crowd you and your hubby too much if you take the motorcycle!! emoticon emoticon

(Just kiddin'! But someday I do hope to make it to sunny Hawaii on my own. But I just might have trouble returning to these cold Virginia hills, too! Ha!)

Hi Rheyn, Yeah, it really was a highlight this year. But he's a really humble guy and gives lots of speeches around the country. Maybe he'll give one in your area.

Hi Rheyn,
I've been drinking hibiscus teas since the video came out, too. Love Dr. Gregor ... he's so smart and funny, and a really nice guy, too. He came and gave a speech at the Veg Society here and had dinner with us the night before. I got to sit right across from him and talk to him (ask lots of questions!) that night. What fun.

"shock the snot out of them"

Is that a medical or scientific term, Shiva! emoticon emoticon You had me laughing on that one!!!

I had been wondering if putting teas in the sun was really all that necessary, since I had tried some Celestial Seasonings teas in the fridge and they did just fine. Good to know! Less work, too!

Rheyn, I've not seen the video, but I've been drinking a lot of Celestial Seasonings teas lately because several of their flavors have hibiscus in them as the first ingredient. I had read that hibiscus can lower blood pressure slightly, so I bought some recently and went to town on drinking them. (So far not sure if it actually works or not, but I "seem" to feel better after a cup.)

Overnight in the fridge works well for cold-brewed tea, too.

Not completely sure whether that's the kind of "infused" tea they mean, or like you said, Terry, tea made from fruit (i.e. tisane.) Both are great in my opinion, though!

Has anyone else been hibiscus crazy since Dr. Greger's video came out?

Shiva - thanks for the reminder. I used to make sun tea years ago but when I switched to green tea I stopped because it would turn bitter when left outside too long. I can do this on the counter and get the same effect.

Hi Terry, for infused teas I think he's talking about leaving tea bags to soak in a pitcher of cool water (overnight or longer) instead of using boiling water to shock the snot out of them (err, the essence out of them.) Years ago people used to make "sun tea" by putting tea bags in a jar of cold water and putting it in the sun. You don't really have to put it into the sun, you can just put the bags, or loose tea, in the water and give it some time.

Great article! I just checked my fridge and it is mostly healthy (except for one or two items I picked up this weekend to snack on---when I really should have known better).

Over the years I've heard a lot at Spark about "clean eating"...and lately that statment has been haunting me (in a good way). It means instead of soda I should reach for something "clean" like water and instead of pie I should reach for something "clean" like fruit. We put so much junk in our bodies, it would love it if we ate clean food that has no preservatives, salt or much fat in it.

I noticed in the article he said to drink "infused teas"...what is that? Teas with fruit in them?

Thanks for the link. It was a real eye-opener. Especially for DH. He said, "I now begin to understand what you have been trying to tell me.". He's not there yet, veg that is, but he is gravitating towards it.

That's a great article. I love when he said that what you put in the fridge is a choice. It is really cool to see people make healthy changes and go from bypass surgery to ultramarathon runner. That's just awesome!

I just got around to reading this week's post by One Green Planet. As usual, it had some interesting stuff. One article written by Ian Welch who underwent a quadruple by-pass in 2011 and who now is an avid runner and Bikram yoga practitioner: www.onegreenplanet.org/vegan-health/learn-
how-to-rehabilitate-your-refrigeratora
nd-your-health/

This is a good article for those of you new to the vegan lifestyle.
