I am glad to hear some of you are blogging and that it is encouraging others. I really think if I would force myself to read blogs, I'd probably benefit from other peoples journey.

I also didn't realize that, Alan. So a person certainly could not create a recipe book using recipes from Spark, could they....unless they were the owners of Spark, that is.

Wow, I wasn't expecting so many replies to this topic! Cool!!

Rheyn, you said: "Another reason is that I feel like that wave has already crested, and the market is pretty well saturated"

Interesting! I'm glad to learn of others insight into things like this, because I feel like you are probably right about that. A person probably needed to begin a lot of those types of things when the internet was new territory. I know I'm not alone in wishing I (or you) had been the person who thought up Ebay or Amazon or even Spark People back when the internet was new. One of us would be rich right now!!!

I probably would have read your blog on DVD reviews, since I'm more likely to read something like that than I am someone's personal "diary" blog.

I used to blog a lot and it is nice when people comment. The only thing I post on my blogs now is my workout log for the previous week. I don't even really care to do that anymore. I found that I couldn't really be honest with what I wrote for fear of hurting someone's feelings or someone wanting to argue with you about what you wrote. When you have to start editing what you think and feel it isn't real anymore.

I read a lot of fitness and healthy living blogs. I get a lot of ideas for workouts and recipes.

I haven't blogged much in the two years I've been with SP. Mostly because time constraints won't allow me to indulge in my perfectionist tendency when writing to the public. Lately the few blogs I have Shared have been recipes. I am very introverted so it might be a good thing for me to put myself "out there" and get the feedback.

I didn't realize that Bilby4. Good to know. Makes sense. I have a blog Terry, but I am terrible at being consistent with my posts. Mainly they are inspirational. Thoughts that I think might help others on their weight loss journey. I haven't made them vegan-oriented because at Spark others are on different paths to weight loss. People comment on my blogs and I find that nice that they have found my thoughts interesting enough to comment on.

If you put anything on this site, Spark owns it. According to their terms of service. I don't particularly like that, hence I stopped blogging and posting recipes.

I mainly use my Spark blog to post things that amuse me, but in the spring I did a "personal development" project wherein I did a new-to-me and different DVD every day, and I posted my reviews in my blog. Now, though, I don't post consistently here.

Generally, I don't have anything I would want to say on a particular theme, on a regular basis. I send healthy tip, nutrition, and massage news e-mails to our students once every 1 or 2 weeks, and kind of get my fix that way. I would be more likely to pursue writing a column for a publication like Natural Awakenings than maintaining a "full time" blog. Another reason is that I feel like that wave has already crested, and the market is pretty well saturated, so a new for-profit wellness blog would really have to be something spectacular and unique to gain much traction.

Hi gang! I'm just curious if any of you blog? I'm finding out more and more that so many people on Spark blog. For a long time the significance of this has escaped me--isn't it just like keeping a "diary"? What's so great about that??? Why would others want to read my diary???

I rarely read other peoples blogs, because I feel like I'm reading their diary (and also because I'm not as crazy about reading as I used to be.) But apparently many, many folks out there love reading other people's blogs!

Just about a week ago I read of a lady who is making a living writing blogs on-line, the main one being about parenting. (Of course she had to line up advertisers to be on her blog pages--that's where the money comes from.) But money for my diary? What a strange idea!

But it makes me ask: should I be blogging? Should I be blogging about being vegan/plant strong? And if my blog became popular, could I actually start making money at doing it? Or is that the point of blogging? (Probably not the point of it here on Spark, for sure!)

What are your thoughts on blogging? Do you blog? Do you read blogs? Does writing a blog motivate you with your diet and exercise? Let's talk about it!
