I've been browsing topics and ran into this one. I checked out the site Boni provided, below, and found that if we keep the pressure up for about one more week, some good may come of it. The "take action" url is: www.anh-usa.org/dangerous-pro-gmo-am

It's entitled Dangerous Pro-GMO Amendments May Be On Their Last Legs—If We Act Now!

Some people think the “plant-based whole foods diet” is extreme. Half a million a year will have their chests opened up and a vein taken from their leg and sewn onto their coronary artery. Some people would call that extreme.

Thanks for the link. Greenpeace Canada used to have a shoppers guide listing products with/without GMOs (as reported by the company, I believe). Unfortunately it looks like they've stopped updating it.

Thanks for the post, Boni.

I guess I quit buying not only Kashi but Lightlife, Cascadian Farm Organics, Gardenburger and Alexia Foods. Back to websites for making my own vegan sausages and faux meat.

How can I be sure that the ingredients I buy in bulk are gmo free?? Nasty dilemma!!

Great article, Boni.

I am so upset. A lot of the brands I thought I could trust are standing up in favor of evil.

I guess no more Kashi for me.

Great article Boni! You should check out the Organic Consumers Association on Facebook. They have updates on this bill a lot and the progression around the US as well as good articles. My biggest fear about GMO is that no one has to tell us that a product is GMO and most are. I refuse to eat corn anymore unless it's organic and I'm getting that way about almost all produce because I trust no one on this topic. No knows the long term affects of eating GMO foods well at least they won't admit the affects. It's even scarier that most of the organic companies are owned by the bigger companies now. I was shocked to see that some of the organic products still use GMO. I didn't think that was possible when you are certified organic. UGH!! FRUSTRATING!!

I can't take credit for this post. Mike, the leader of the Engine 2 Diet team posted this on his team's Sparkpage which I thought that you might find interesting. It was an eye-opener to me. anh-usa.org/the-great-organic-deceiv

It is a good article about labelling products GMO and efforts to defeat this initiative. There is a link in the article to a "shopping guide" to organic products containing GMO's and those which don't which I found helpful.
