I forgot to mention that I had also stopped the weight training (and pretty much any exercise!) and had gone back to my old bad habits of overeating--which is why I gained the weight back over the winter.

Yes, try adding some mild (not very heavy) weight lifting twice a week, Boni, and see what happens. I used to do it only twice a week and did aerobic exercise (mostly walking) the other days (but took sundays off) and I was becoming amazed with the results I was getting. Sometimes I shudder to think how I would most likely have been to my goal weight now had I not stopped exercising when winter came.

But the good news is I did my first workout today in months! Started off easy with walking. I don't know why, but I just woke up today and knew it was time to start back to working out! My goal is to keep it up all year this time!

Hmmm....now how did I turn your request to the group for weight loss tips into a post about ME?!!! LOL!!! Leave it to me to make it all about ME! Ha! Sorry Boni!

But for what it's worth, Boni, I've always admired your determination to get out there and walk and do marathons and stay active! You are light years ahead of me!!!! I feel confident you can do anything you set your mind to!

I was doing weight training Terry, and then I stopped. You're right, I need to get bck to it on a regular basis. It strengthens bone mass too which is helpful when you have osteoporosis.

I also believe strength training is KEY in weight loss.

I have to be honest and admit that my own ticker has sadly regressed back to my starting point and not moved in months---which is pretty bad! I wish I only had 10 more to go, Boni! Hehe! But I can relate to the frustration.

But during the time that I "was" doing good with weight loss, I was amazed at the results I was getting with weight training---like none I had ever gotten before. And I know nobody gets thrilled over "lifting heavy things"...but I keep reminding folks I was only lifting about the weight of two grocery bags filled full and was getting results. So it's do-able!

But not sure, you may have been doing weight training, Boni...I can't recall. If not, try adding it and see what happens with those 10 pounds. I'll bet they will leave.

Great ideas!! I have to say I really like interval training. Something else that "they" say helps are boot camps. A lot of women forget strength training in their exercise program.

If you have noticed, probably not emoticon , my weight ticker has not moved much in the three years I have been a Spark member. I'm having a hard time losing those last 10 pounds. They come and go depending on the amount of walking I do training for 10k's and halfs. I read an article in More magazine on this very topic that you might be interested in. www.more.ca/body-and-mind/fitness/ho
