I was researching the chemo drug (rituxan) that I am currently receiving and discovered that it is produced using cloned mice DNA. The doctor seems to think that this is the best drug to help make me healthy again. I don't know how many mice needed to die to make this drug invention possible.

Many drugs need to use animals in whole or part in their development. I believe that modern medicine should search for alternatives to animal testing whenever possible but often there is no alternative. While he was in college, my son worked in the animal lab at the Cleveland Clinic. There were many pigs, young cows and other animals there with artificial hearts, lungs, and valves etc. in them. His job was to monitor their health and call the Vet if they became ill or needed the doctor. Who knows how many peoples lives have been saved because of this research? I agree with the people who are against the research, but if my parent or child needed an artificial valve I would want to know that the valve had been thoroughly tested and safe.

This is a hard subject and I guess I believe that although animals are very precious and important. I believe people are more precious and more important.
