Well, we've finished week one of our workout and posted three days worth of running and walking! Good luck with week #2! Three days - walk 5 minutes - jog for 90 seconds, 4 times.

I'm thinking of doing a 5K in the spring. It's way too cold for me (Eastern Ontario) until then. :)

I thought to start out the year with the couch to 5k, then do a 10 and finish with a half in early October. I like to go in the Prince Edward County Marathon then. It is in Ontario and follows the Bay of Quinte, Lake Ontario - a really nicely-organized run.

Been running for a bit over a year and I am heading back to the Couch to 5k program to start increasing my speed on runs. Hub and I just transitioned over to barefoot running so the distance is perfect for our shorter, faster runs.

The program is great especially for new runners. It is what I used to take the leap. The intervals kept me making steady progress and more importantly, injury free. If anyone has questions, holler.

Thanks! It's good to know that it works. I've used the Running Room's program for years, but you have to join the club to get the running schedule. We used Jeff Galloway's program for our last 10k challenge here on VF&N. I thought I'd start everyone off on an easy one and work up to a half in September for 2012 for those who want to join me. Are you planning on entering a 5k race? We have the Santa Shuffle here in Ontario, Canada.

I'm starting week 8 of 9 for the Couch to 5K program. It's a very good program and with stretching I didn't feel sore after the workouts. There's a midway point where you suddenly realize how much endurance you have built up (when you hit running 22 mins in a row).

It's great for beginner runners or those like me who hadn't worked out in ages.

Well, Thanksgiving is over and Christmas will soon be here, and our calorie counts are going to take a beating. So I checked out a new running site for our next challenge. Going from the couch to running a 5k. Go to www.coolrunning.com . Click on "couch to 5k running plan" then click on " print the running plan". The plan includes "stay loose" a link to an after run/walk stretch sequence. This is a 9-week programme (Spark has a 5-week programme if you want results faster) and if you start this week, you will be running a 5k on the weekend of February 11-12. A Valentine's present to yourself. What is great about this workout is that it can be done on a treadmill for those of us stuck indoors on nasty, blizzardy days.
Don't forget to add these miles to your Fitness Trackers, and keep up the good work - we fitness trackers are logging a lot of fitness minutes.
