11/12 Desk to 5k Training 7:30 a.m. & 11:30 a.m. FH track behind Scates Hall. Join us! Walk or run, just get moving!!!

11/14 Zumba at noon in the UC Beale room (363) with Pepper Walker.

11/15 The Great American Smokeout! Smokers are encouraged to use this date to make a plan to quit, or to plan in advance and quit smoking on November 15. By doing so, smokers will be taking an important step towards a healthier life – one that can lead to reducing cancer risk. Had a blast at the Homecoming Parade and Pep Rally! Our department walked in the parade and gave out plenty of candy, beads and Pom poms! Must exercise! :) GO TIGERS!

Students For Healthy Lifestlyes Complimentary Yoga Lesson
Tuesday, October 30 3:30-4:30pm
University Center Memphis B Room (rm 340B)
Certified yoga instructor Lauren G. will be providing a complimentary yoga lesson for University of Memphis students. Mat not required, just dress comfortably in workout clothes.

Students For Healthy Lifestyles is a registered student organization available at the University of Memphis established to provide U of M Students with an opportunity to meet other students who care about living well and having a positive outlook on life.

Our regular meetings include discussion of health topics such as nutrition, running and exercise, and related interests. We share about local events like 5ks and health seminars, and also host a few events of our own.

Last semester, we had a presentation on stress management and a healthy picnic. This semester we are going to offer a complimentary yoga lesson from a certified instructor and a free sample day hosted by Udi's Gluten-Free.

We're always looking for new members!

Dear TIGER,
This Fall we are offering a free, personalized, 10 week on-campus fitness/weight loss program for U of M students!!! The TIGERS FEEL GRRREAT!!! FITNESS PROGRAM is designed to assist you with your personal fitness and weight loss goals. Some of the goals listed by last year’s participants include:

“To learn about weight management and how to get, and stay more fit.”
“To learn about healthier foods for my body, on my budget.”
“To become a healthier person. I am young and want to look and feel that way!”
“To establish a regular exercise routine and feel healthier.”
“To be able to walk to class and take the stairs without getting out of breath.”
“To learn ways to “stick to” my healthier lifestyle.”

At the end of the 10-week program, participants said:
“The training was excellent!”
“The exercise sessions were superb!”
“This program was perfect for improving my fitness.”

And on the final evaluations, 99% indicated that TIGERS FEEL GREAT!!!:
Met their expectations.
Met their fitness goals.
Improved their self-esteem.

The TIGERS FEEL GRRREAT FITNESS PROGRAM will include:
• Orientation to our Campus Recreation and Intramural Services (CRIS)
• Group sessions to increase your personal motivation to achieve your fitness goals
• Basic nutrition and exercise education and discussion
• A series of educational presentations and on-line resources
• Individual, private and confidential health assessments
• Free personal nutrition counseling (optional, by appointment)

At the end, you will evaluate the impact the TIGERS FEEL GRRREAT FITNESS PROGRAM has had on your personal health.
