Fesy - did you have to do any of the special hot bath canning kind of stuff for the jam? Or did you just put it in the jars and put on lids?

Had a great time at the Sit & Sew today.....after I finally got there and was ready to sew.
I forgot my machine and had to go back home to get it.!!
I really need to write a list of things I'm taking......I had 3 large tote bags of stuff, plus
my lunch and other stuff......no wonder I left the machine sitting in the garage next to
where my car is usually parked. LOL

I pieced the back for a quilt and made 5 or 6 more blocks for a very very scrappy
quilt that I'm making ...kind of a "disappearing 9-patch".

Went to Yoga class tonight to try to relax after sitting at a sewing machine most of the
day........ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Jessica - I know you are traveling..... but wanted to tell you about a recipe I tried.
Friends gave me about 30 figs from their trees and told me they make "fake" strawberry
jam/jelly.
I tried it tonight and it turned out perfect and is delish.
Very quick and easy.

I got the recipe on cooks.com on the internet.

4c. figs ( I cut the figs into 1/4ths)
1/2c. water
2(3 oz) pkgs of strawberry jello
3c. sugar

In heavy saucepan, combine figs and water; boil 2 minutes
Remove from eat and mash figs (I put mine in my blender)
Add jello and sugar.
Boil 2 more minutes
Pour into jelly jars and seal,
(Do not double recipe.)

I did 1/2 the recipe, but still used the 1/2c of water, and it filled 2 8oz jelly jars.
I had a bit left over and just put it into a glass bowl and put plastic wrap
over it and put it in the fridge.

It is just like Strawberry jelly and you do not taste figs at all - because
I put mine in my blender it really smashed up the figs and so it
has the true look and feel of strawberry jelly.

I really amazed myself with this......but need to not eat too much
of it with all that sugar LOL
.

Happy and Safe travels to those of you on the road.
I'm staying at home and enjoying the cooler weather......I've been doing stuff in my yard
and will do more re-pottting today. I still have a poinsettia that someone gave me in November
and surprising it is still blooming.....So, I'm putting it into a bigger pot.

Tomorrow is my all day Sit & Sew and I'm working on getting rid of some scraps, making
a scrappy quilt that looks like it will be pretty cute. I'll post a photo when I get the top done.

Today the boys and I are traveling up to visit family. DH will join us mid-week. I'm taking a quilt for some hand-quilting. I figure if I want to make anything new I can dip in to my mom's stash and use her machine.

My poor dog is wandering around looking for his bed and food bowl. He seems concerned. ;-)

Cleaned up messes around the house most of the day.....
but did take a break to make a 12" quilt block for my P&S quilt challenge
We have a shopping bag with about 6 different fabrics (that go together) and we
pass the bags around and the challenge is to make a 12.5" block and pass the bag
on...... when we have 12 blocks finished, we will put them together (with sashing if needed)
to make a lap size prayer quilt.
Lots of fun and so far I have had 3 different bags.
Today I made the Jacob's Ladder block.........easy and fun....................

Fesy, i am glad your Dr visit went so well . It sounds like your Dr was very thorough, and gave you good advice by suggesting PT first. shoulders can be really painful. But surgery is not a quick solution. Even with surgery you are looking at 18 months of doing rehab after. They don't tell you that!

Now, having said that, i know there are times when surgery is needed, due to a tear. But if its "frozen shoulder" PT is moat effective, with or without surgery.

Still waiting on my labs here. This is now reaching the point of being riiculous.

Hi all,
Went to the doc.
She was concerned about my shoulder and is sending me for physical therapy and told me to cancel the ortho appt. until I give PT a try.
She also gave me RX for pain to get me thru the PT - sez it might be painful.
I had lab work done, x-ray of shoulder and knees.
I feel better just having gone to the Dr.
and I am amazed at how inexpensive RX is at Costco - YEAH!!!!!

Now I'm finally home and will go on my brisk walk tonight with my walking group.

Jessica, i agree, we have so many grumps around us! With all the awful things going on in this world, the sight of two joyous parent with their new baby was refreshing! He is a cutie, and all babies are sweet. A promise that life goes on!
Fesy, i hear you on the physical! I have been struggling here. I had a new Dr, since i just moved here. She seemed nice. Had labs done last fall, and i did mot realize my thyroid was down, as those figures can be so confusing. I lost my eyebrows, and suffered horribly from the cold all winter. Welll, now i know why. When i went in to her a month go, i told her all my SXs, and she admitted it had been low and she had not addressed it.

So, she ran labs and told me if I did not hear from her, to call in a week. I did. No response 2 wks later i hand carried a very nice note, asking her to send me my labs. I had already decided i was do e with her, and made an appt with an endocrinologist i had been referred to by a friend. Still no response! This last Monday, exactly one month later, i called her front office and was very stern, telling the. I insisted on getting a copy of these labs, as i was going elsewhere, and outlining all my efforts to communicate. About a half hour later i got a call from the medical assistant (2 mons of training, remember) trying to interpret my labs and telling me my thyroid was high ( TSH is high, because thyroid is low). I know the SXsof high thyroid. Have had those, too. My pulse is 60. No way!
so, i told her, just send me a copy . I am so aggravated, i could spit! On the 31 i have my appt with the specialist, so that is good! I have also changed to another Dr, and internist who works in the clinic where my chiropractor is. Its a clinic with many different healthcare professionals, and a holistic point of view.

Ok, done ranting! It just shouldn't be so hard to find a good Dr! fesy, hope they figure the shoulder out.

Good morning all ..... I'm up early to go to the Dr. for my Physical.
I know I am going to be told I need to lose weight - I hear that each time I go.
I hope to also get some x-rays to see what's up with my sore shoulder (limited movement)

Someone sent me this video of the cutest most talented dog.
I know some of you have dogs and will get a smile out of it.

Hi Ho everyone.
I went to Prayers & Squares this AM and we layered and put ties in one of the quilt tops I made several months ago. Good it is going to someone who needs the prayers and quilt.
--------------------
Then went to knitting at the Sr. Center and always have so much fun chatting with my
knitting buds. I finished one sock of the pr. I making for a friend there.....she was
so impressed with the self-striping yarn and the socks.....so I told her I would make
her a pr. The are really more slippers to wear around the house - I think they would
be too warm and thick to wear inside shoes.......but she is so excited - makes me feel
good too. ( a challenge to knit with size 2 needles !!!)

I saw a video of the new royal baby leaving the hospital - so exciting and the young
parents look wonderful. It is hard to believe that this baby is 3rd in line to be the
King of England.....

I pay 69.00 to have my machine cLeaned and tuned, competently, here. In Houston i was charged the same, and they would mess up my machines. I feel fortunate here in that i have known these people a long time and know the, to be competent and honest.

We are to have another warm (for us- 96) day here today, but starting tomorrow the afternoon showers are to kick in, for several days, and cool us way down. This is a much more normal Colorado summer than the last, very hot one was.

My plan today is to start a quilt for my grandson. Hope all of you have a good day!

Well i am glad to is sewing fine. You took it just to be cleaned, right? There was nothing wrong with it? You know here not to take it now!

I have two Elnas. Bought one here and one in phoenix. In Houston i could not find anyone to
Clean and tune them, it was just terrible. Now i go back to my old trusty quilt shop, Which sells them, and its a relief to be able to trust them.

Today i started a quilt for my grandson, for his bed here. Just finished the one for my granddaughter.

Hi all,
Happy Monday.
Jacqui - I agree that I should not have to pay.... But it is 20 miles away to the shop and I don't want to drive all that way ...... AND I cleaned the machine myself, so I have nothing to show
them about their shoddy workmanship.

I'm going to a sit and sew today and I'll see how my machine works....if there are any
problems, I'll definitely go back to that shop.
================================
I'm back from the Sit & Sew and my machine seems to work fine - just like it did before.
Also looks nicer since I cleaned it myself !!! Lesson learned for me on this one.....

Picked up my machine at the shop......vacuum is just fine and works great.
The sewing machine was still full of dirt, dust, dust balls....... and had oil squirted around.
I was really bummed and will never to go them again....
it was $50 for the sewing machine service and not worth it at all......I wonder what they
really did, since the machine was still filled with dust bunnies and dirt????
Oh well, lesson learned for me......
It seem to sew ok , but it was fine before too.

OMG - weather predictions are that we are suppose to get a little bit of rain in the next couple of days.....probably sprinkles, and maybe some thunder!! (we rarely ever have thunder here.)
So, my fingers are crossed.
It is gray and overcast, but still warm (which means humidity)
but much cooler than a few days ago - WAHOO!!

I'm going to pick up my sewing machine and vacuum at the repair shop today - fingers crossed that they did a good job.
I've missed my sewing machine...... emoticon

Well. Everyone is surely hot. Except us here in Co.orado! Remind me of this when i complain of the cold next winter! We had such unusual heat last summer, but this year is more normal for us.

Stay cool and safe everyone. Those temps can be dangerous! Its a good time to stay in and quilt!

Wow - Jess over 100 degrees at the in-laws, that sure sounds like swimming temps !!

I am really getting tired of this hot weather - we usually don't have it for this long down here.
Seems to be the topic of conversation for everyone I meet.....we are all complaining.
BUT

No rain for over 100 day? Wow!
I hope you stay safe from the flash floods at least.

I may call up the sewing place and ask for a more accurate/specific price for MY machine... not just a "well it'll be cheaper than this other one..." price. I'm dragging my feet since I want good service, but I don't want price gouging.

I got a new filling today (boo!), but I went to a new dentist and he was awesome. For the first time in DECADES the Novocain shot didn't hurt. Silver lining...

We're off to visit family this weekend. I'm not sure how much computer time I'll be getting.
It's predicted to be over 100*F at my in-laws. HOT! I'm surely packing my swim suit.

I heard on the news this morning that we haven't had any measurable rain here in Phoenix for 100+ days. That's a long time to go without any moisture. We have been getting clouds everyday since the Monsoon started and a couple of bad dirt storms that they call haboobs, but so far no rain at our house. Suburbs south of here had a microburst (high winds and floods) last week, with lots of resulting damage, but we didn't even get the wind from that.

Hi Jess, I have a PFAFF that is computerized - so even though I have a coupon for $16 for
service - he said it would be $40 because it is a computerized machine.
He called the service TLC - which I think stands for tune/lube/clean.
I have 3 friends who go to this guy and they say he is very good......I still have my
fingers crossed. I'll let you know.
The PFAFF shops around here charge $89 - $100 for regular maintenance service.
They even charged me $4.50 for a new light bulb !!!!

Fesy - how much does it cost to have your sewing machine serviced? The only place I can find around here charges $130 for embroidery machines and a bit less for regular machines. It's cheaper at my mom's place, but the reputations of those places is very bad.

It's predicted to be warmer today, about 81*F. We had a lovely time at the beach yesterday. It was a good beach with a nice combination of sand and tide pools. Parking was a bear (my in-laws brought their motor home), but I think I'll go back to that beach next time I take my boys.

Hi all,
I sure do wish we would get some rain here. Everything is so dry and it is still HOT.
It will be in the low 90s all week.

I dropped off my sewing machine and Vacuum at the repair shop today - it was
about a 20 mile drive each way.....but I did have coupons.
When I walked into the place - I was shocked it was chocked full of vacuum, sewing machine, and lot of parts and junk - packed almost floor to ceiling !!!!
I was kind of afraid to leave my stuff there - but the guy was so nice and seems very
professional.
They will both be ready by Friday - so I'll let you know about the service and how it all
turns out.

I know that Joy is not in Idaho right now - but just read about a very large wildfire
near Boise..... hope there are not homes in danger and no evacuations.

Chat more later.....

Jessica, i am with you about going in the water, bit the beach should be lovely! I am surprised your temps are so cool at this time of the year. I bet the kids will enjoy the water, as you say!

We had lots of needed rain i. Our area yesterday, and they say that we have two dry days now, and then it will start again. These monsoon rains, which used to be regular visitors in the summer, have been rare in the last ten years or so, and this is a real blessing for us.

Today i am going to work a bit on grading papers, and then start a quilt for my grandson.

Wohoo! 25 points on the wheel!

My dog is doing better. His stitches are healing nicely and no vomiting for the last few days. I don't think he's allergic, but the anesthesia has a tendency to upset stomaches and I think he has a very sensitive stomach.

My sis-in-law, her 2 kids, and my parents-in-law are coming tomorrow to visit. Just overnight and MIL & FIL are bringing their motor home. That will reduce the crush inside the house. But it will be 9 people and four dogs in a 1 bathroom house. Wow. Should be interesting, but fun. We're going to the beach Tuesday and then celebrating my SIL's birthday. I made her some gluten free (nephew is sensitive to gluten), honey (no refined sugar), chocolate cupcakes. The gluten free flour makes it slightly more grainy, but the flavor is still good.

I have shopping to do today. My boys have already finished their summer homework for the day.
Have a great day!

We had a blast at my house yesterday with the sewing/quilting buds.
This AM I got the whole house cleaned up, all the snacks and food either stashed away or tossed. I polished the dining table and took the leaf back out and put it away (hard work for one person to do alone.)
I vacuumed the whole house and discovered that my vacuum needs service - it no longer
"sucks" anything up. The brushes spin....but all the bits of stuff were left on the carpet.
But I do have a coupon for repair, a good recommendation for a shop to go to and they also
tune up sewing machines. Got excellent recommendations for both and discount coupons for both!!! So tomorrow after sit &sew, they are both going into the shop for much needed service.
I've heard that this place is very quick and they do excellent work. (fingers crossed)

Jacqui - the row quilt is made of strips (pieced or just a cute print) that are either 3", 6" or 9" and all are 54 inches wide.
The people in on the swap can make as many as they want and then
we all trade and put the strips together anyway we want - put a border on and we have
a quilt top.
We are doing a Halloween theme and I have so many Halloween fabrics and scraps that
I have all kinds of ideas.......I'll be sure to post a photo of the top I end up with

Here are 2 links to some that I found on the internet (Missouri Quilt Co.)

Your gathering tomorrow sounds like fun! Now, in a row quilt, do you each do a row of the quilt? I have never found one.

Glad you had at least some rain. As you say, at least it cools things a bit. Right now we have a thunderstorm about to hit. Such a nice difference from last summer, when it was abnormally hot and very dry. This summer is still dry, but not as severe, and at least we are getting rain. WE got most of our snow all at once in March, and that did not adequately deal with our drought they say. Our problem now is that the burn areas from last year's fires are having mudslides and flash floods. Always something!

Tomorrow (Saturday) my quilting friends are coming to my house for an all day Sit & Sew.
I'm looking forward to it - I haven't seen some of them in several months.
It will be fun to catch up.
I don't know what I want to work on tomorrow - but I did get looped into a Halloween theme
row quilt. Each row is to be 54" wide and can be 3", 6" or 9" deep.
I am seeing so many beautiful quilts that I don't know what to do.......but it will get rid
of some of my Halloween Fabric Stash. LOL

We got .04" of rain yesterday - which is just a sprinkle.........but it was overcast and muggy
all day. It did cool off about 20 degrees and I hope it stays cooler. Wahoo!!!!

Jessica, i wonder if your dog is allergic to the anesthesia. Will be important to tell any vet that ever does surgery on him in the future.

I hope everyone is having a good day. It is going to be a warm one in Denver, but the monsoon rains are starting to kick in, Which is nice, and we need the moisture. Last night we had a nice shower.

I didn't get much exercise the last few days. My dog got "fixed" and he's having a bad reaction. Lots of vomiting. He was back there all day and now he only gets very small portions at one time. He's HUNGRY and uncomfortable from the stitches.

I have another wrist therapy session today and then two next week. After that I'm done. Once I got started working on it, progress was good.

Fesy, that is good to know. When i went there there were lots of card players, and i am not one of those, but i was there later, and didn't meet the exercisers. Everyone was very nice. I get so tired of my cooking that i am thinking a few lunches a week would be really nice. They are hot meals, and would be my dinner, basically.

I have driven by there every day for two months, and one day just stopped in. I am glad i did. I bet i will make some nice friends.

Jacqui,
That sounds just like the Sr. Center here....but mine is $40 a year.
I go to classes for exercise, knitting, Zumba etc about 4 times a week and have
met some great friends.
(no Quilters though????)

Hi everyone! I am home, after aN afternoon at the aquarium downtown, at a kids party, with my daughter and granddaughter. It was fun, but i am tired. I lost my energy about halfway thru the afternoon. My thyroid is low, and i am in the process of switching to a Dr who is competent to help me. Anyway, i don't have my usual energy right now, for sure.

So, glad to be home, and will go to bed early! I hope everyone has had a good day! Fesy, i am about a half block from the Senior center here. I can join for 24.00 a year, and they do have free exercise classes three days a week and Tai chi twice a week. I want to try them, as especially in the winter when I walk less, it would be good to go. They also have nice lunches, for 4.00.

Hi all,
Jessica - I have about 4 different pedometers and they all seem to measure differently!!
So, I use the one that gives me the most mileage LOL

Joy - have a safe trip to Iowa....how long will it take you to get there? Drive carefully.....

Today is my lunch bunch and I going to try a new exercise class at 2:15. The gals in my
knitting group all say it is a good work out......even though it is named:
Arthritis & Balance.....It's free as part of my membership at the Sr. Center - so I will give
it a try.

DS2 went to preschool this morning, so I took DS1 to the gym with me. He's still not old enough to work out, so he had to sit in the kids room.
I rode the stationary bike for 7.25 miles, but my new pedometer (required unit for DH's work program) only picked up about 1/5 of the steps. Not the best piece of equipment. I like my old one better.
Today DS2 has a dental appointment. I hope he doesn't have any cavities...

It's still hot here, enough that the A/C can't keep up with it. But I am loving the sunshine.

I am heading out today for Iowa in my trusty little red car. My B-I-L is failing fast. Yesterday was packed with all of the chores you do before you leave on a road trip., going to the bank, gasing up the car, going to Walmart to get some things, laundry and packing.

I only have a few more things to do to finish packing. I woke up at 4 a.m, got up and have been finishing up the packing. Hope to leave the house bo 9 or 10 a.m.

We had a fairly tame 4 day weekend. It wasn't supposed to be a 4-dayer for DH but his boss sent him an email Wednesday night that said take Friday off too. That was a nice surprise.

DH, me and dear sister-in-law went the movies on the 4th. We never go, but DH had passes that he had gotten from a co-worker at Christmas, so we decided to use them. We saw 'Man of Steel'. A little too Sci-Fi and action packed for me, but he seemed to enjoy it. Then we went out for pizza afterward. It wasn't really a traditional 4th of July for us, 'cause we were not hosting a family party. I guess I'm a stick in the mud, but I just wasn't up to it.

I got the quilt binding and label finished on my 'Springtime Fiesta' quilt. It was a little warm to be covered up with a quilt doing hand sewing for the binding, but I was finally determined to get this one finished. I don't know why I haven't finished it before now. It's been 'almost' finished for years. I'm really pleased with the finished product.

We had friends over for burger grilling on Saturday. We wanted to get together with them before they left. These are our buddies that we eat lunch with every Sunday after church. They left for a month long vacation in the Sierra's this morning. They are climbers and go to Yosemite to climb those big granite monoliths every year. I think they are nuts, but that is their chosen mode of recreation. They train all year to do this, and so far have not been hurt doing it. They are trying to recruit DH, and that bugs me a bit. He has gone with them on some little expeditions on the mountains in the Phoenix area that have climbing areas. He is strong, but he doesn't train like they do, and he is 10 years older than them, so that makes me nervous.

At the sit & sew today - I made 8 Placemats and all that is needed is
a little light quilting on the tops - using some of the fancy stitches on my machine.

I'll post a photo when they are done. I'm tempted to keep 2 of them
for myself LOL

Hello!
It seems as though everyone is getting along well enough in the Summer heat.
We had a nice mellow four day weekend here, I'm sorry it had to end. DH is back to work this morning.
I hope the boys behave better today than they did this weekend. Even DH was losing patience with them...

I have another wrist therapy session this morning.

Hi Gang,
I had a good day - got all my yard work done and then went with my brother to take
his dog swimming in the bay. She can no longer walk and so he takes her to the
bay every other night and makes her swim.
I stood in the water up to my knees and it was pretty warm.
Poor little pooch didn't seem to enjoy her swim - but she really needs the exercise
and to keep her front legs moving.
Then she goes home and has a nice rinse off in the bath tub.... they say she likes to
have her fur dried with the hairdryer LOL...

It is much much cooler her too - overcast for part of the day and some humidity....
but it is at least 20 degrees cooler - YEAH!!

Tomorrow is sit and sew at the quilt shop and I still haven't decided on my next
quilt.....so tomorrow I'll use scraps to make placemats for "Meals on Wheels"/
A great way to get rid of scraps and those single blocks left over (with a bunch
of scrap borders added )

Hi everyone! I have had a quiet day. Hand sewing a binding right now, after walking the dogs. Looked like we would have rain, but it passed right over us. It did cool things down. Tho. Nd someone got it. we need the moisture, but it is not near as dry as it was last year at this time.
Hope everyone emoticon has had a nice weekend.

Fesy, i think it is great to digitalize the old photos. My daughter has done some, but we probably need to so what you are doing. I gets tedious!

Joy. I hope it has cooled down in Boise. The heat does make us lazy, i think. Even with AC, i know some people who will not quilt in the summer. Psychological, i guess!

I mass produced bibs today. a shower gift for my friend's first grandchild, to be born in Oct. they are having a shower in Aug. so once they are done, i will send them down to Phoenix. I will try to bet them finished tomorrow, and put the binding on a quilt i just finished. I have been keeping busy with all the kits i bought over time and then Never made!

Hope everyone is having a nice evening!

Hi all - I'm starting to think about my next quilt project - I've been making pillowcases like crazy and now want to start a quilt that will challenge me.
I have some ideas......but nothing definite yet.

Today I cleaned tons of files in my "office/computer/sewing room"
and shredded all the papers. Filled my recycle bin - but it feels wonderful to get rid
of all those papers. No need to keep most of them because they are available to me
"online" Wahoo.

Next will be getting boxes of family photos scanned - I bought a "deal voucher" and can
get 400 photos scanned to DVD. I've had all the old old old family photos in bins
in my garage and would like to get DVDs and give copies to my brothers and maybe
a few cousins. I think this project is going to take a while....but I only have 6 months
on the "deal voucher"......................silly thing is that I could probably scan them myself -
but don't want to sit in front of the computer for hours/days/weeks doing it all.

This morning when we woke, it was about 10 degrees cooler than it has been. By now it is flirting with 100 degrees, which is better than 110 degrees. We ae high thin clouds and it is plenty warm.

Iam not feeling really motivated to work on the quilt. I need to at least press the last squares I made. Then I need to start laying it all out. Not sure what we have going on for the weekend besides church. I will find out when it happens. LOL

Fesy, it sounds like you had a wonderful day. The fireworks must have been beautiful! You did well with your eating, too!

I had a quiet day. Finished a quilt, and today went into mss production on some bibs (11) for my friends' first grandchild. They are having the shower in August, and I had a bunch of flannel with baby patterns on it, so decided to make bibs. My friend is making a quilt, so i am not doing that.

Hi all - it is Friday.... but feels like a Monday to me and I'm retired !!! WOW
Guess because yesterday was a holiday.

I did pretty well with my eating yesterday. I didn't eat until I felt sick and tried to stick
with all the fresh fruit and veggies to dip.
My Chocolate Strawberries went really quickly and the 3 that were left were smashed, so I tossed them.
I've got my salads, fruits, and veggies all stocked up for my meals for a few days.
I even have a watermelon to slice up. I LOVE cold watermelon on a hot day.

It is also nice to have a day with nothing planned, no appointments, just relaxing.
Maybe when it cools off this evening - I'll take a walk.

Hope everyone is staying cool and enjoying the day.

PS - forgot to say that the fireworks were amazing!!! 8 huge displays going at once, all over the city and we could see them all from the high deck we were on. WOW

I'm going to a big family party today - one of the SILs has a beautiful home with views
of at least 5 fireworks shows. There will be about 40 people there.
Last night I made 5 dozen strawberries dipped in chocolate - the kids really love them.
I'll try to only have 1....LOL

Joy - I read on CNN.com that the sidewalks in Boise buckled from the heat !!!!! WOW

It is much cooler here today and I'm feeling much better about it.

Enjoy the holiday.

Joy, i am so glad you can spend this day with your family!

I think i caught Fesy's cleaning bug. I had decided to wash my floors, but once i got going, went thru the while house. eels good to have it all clean. dogs had me up and out walking at 5:30, so i got a good start on it. Of course, now they are sleeping!

I need to find so e room darkening curtains, as i need to put an end to that. I my last place, the condo, the bedroom was dark, and they and i would sleep 8.5-9 hours. Unheard of for me, but i gelt better with the additional sleep.

Anyway, put the time to good use today, and now will probably sew. I will watch the festivities on Tv tonight. Everyone have a happy fourth!

Happy 4th of July, dear friends. Last year being alone, I called my sister with my flat rate long distance service, who was also alone, we tuned our TV's to the same 4th of July celebration and watched it together, her in Iowa and me in Washington. Sometimes you have to be creative to celebrate with family. This year I will celebrate in Idaho with some of my family. I am truly grateful. Have a grat 4th of July Spark friends.

My house is now super clean (cleaning lady here today) - it looks so nice and I wish it
would stay that way ......but once I start sewing - LOOK OUT !!!!
Plus I'm having my quilting friends over for a full day of sewing on the 13th.

It feels nice a cool here - seems like it was much cooler today - overcast most of the
day and some nice breezes.
I sure hope the heatwave is over for a while.

I feel guilty reading your posts. It has been very mild in Colorado for several weeks, unlike this time last year! Today we may get to 90, and it is the warmest we've had in over a week. We have had some good hailstorms, tho. Hard on the flowers!

Today i went with my daughter to watch my little granddaughter ride horses. They had a little camp thru park and rec, where they ride an hour a day. She was very proud, and then we went to lunch, Which was nice!

Tomorrow i plan to have a quiet day of sewing, and will watch the concert and fireworks in DC on TV. No fireworks here, due to the dry conditions.

Hope everyone has a fun and happy Fourth!

You probably don't even wanna know how hot it has been in Phoenix over the past week. It started last Friday with a high of 120 degrees. Went to 119 on Sat and 118 on Sun. This week the highs have been at least 110. They're predicting 112 for tomorrow. I'm sure my power bill is going to be over the top, but I'm so thankful for air conditioning.

How did we get to July already? Today is supposed to be 110 degrees out. At :30 it was 107 degrees. If you're where there is a ton of cement or asphalt, it would be hotter. I walked at the mall in order to get in my exercise.

Fesy, talking is one of the reasons I always went to quilting. They always let me drink tea and just chat with people when things were wild at home and I needed their friendship. You must have needed it. If you got anything done, you beat me. For a couple of years all I could do was chat and drink tea. It meant so much to me. I miss my Cushman friends but have plans to see them in October, so something to look forward to. My one sister is actually going with me to spend some time doing something besides work and take care of her DH.

and 2 placemats......guess I was talking too much LOL

It feels a little bit cooler this AM, but suppose to heat up again today.
I have had a headache for several days and I think it is the heat. I keep drinking more water,
thinking I need it in the heat.

Hello! Last week they predicted today would be 106... two days ago they changed it to 102 and today they're predicting 95*F. That's MUCH better than 106, but still too hot for no AC. The boys have swim lessons this morning and then we're driving to the beach (about 1 hour away) with some friends.
It should be a good day. I'm bringing lots of sunscreen.
