I'd like to keep this group going ,- I really need the encouragement. A challenge would be good.

I see this group has an inactive leader & very few recent posts...Is anyone out there still looking to keep this group running? Maybe if we created a challenge with weekly goals, etc., we could motivate each other? Any ideas?

Gosh - sorry I didn't see this for 2 MONTHS! I have been out of internet service at home and just got a completely different service - Love it! How are you doing? I am inspired by you and your husband. It's nice that you are able to do this together, you'll be able to encourage each other. My dh is thin and eats whatever he wants whenever he wants. Makes it a little challenging. But my ds and I struggle (my dd is like my husband)

And I'm sorry about the tsp of peppermint - it should have been 1/4 tsp.....I'll bet that was way too strong.

Have a great day!

Ellen

Hey Ellen! I'm keeping track here on Sparkpeople (instead of tracking points) and my husband and I go weigh in weekly at the GNC at our local Mall. He started at 418lbs, so a home scale wouldn't work for us. Amazingly, he weighed in at 392 this past week. First time under 400 since we've been together (10 years!).

I made a peppermint mocha last week and found 1 tsp of the extract to be a bit much - burned my nose! I do love peppermint though, so I'll give it another go with a little less next time. I think my go-to shakes are peanut butter and chocolate or an Almond Joy. I prefer the nutrative value of those I make with fruit, but I like the taste of the "dessert" types better. So I'm trying to get lots of fruit and veggies at lunch (I do my shakes for breakfast and dinner).

Geared up and gung-ho for my first 90-day challenge. Walking 5-days a week and eating sensibly. Gonna do this!

Hi Eileen! I am Ellen, and I've on my second 90 day challenge - with lots of fits and starts, but I am making progress again. Congrats on your success. I've now lost 31 pounds, 23 on the first 90 days. The shakes are great tasting, and it is fun to dress them up. Would love to have some support here - there has to be lots of us on the Visalus Challenge.

My favorite recipe (and I use it when I'm really craving something) is the Peppermint Patty.

4 oz almond milk (no sugar added, vanilla)
2 T. dark chocolate (I use Xocai Activ)
2 Scoops Shake mix
1 tsp Peppermint extract
Ice

Tastes great!

How about your favorite? There is a Recipe thread on here as well.

I should say I am trying to stay low carb, and the shakes fit in well with that lifestyle. I also just rejoined WW - I need the accountability of weighing in every week. I just figure the points out for my shakes - and it gives me alot of freedom.

Hey everyone! I'm Eileen and I found this by doing a search for "Visalus". I saw there was no leader for the board, so I figured I'd jump in and be a leader! LOL

I'm on Day 20 of my 90-Day-Challenge and I am loving it! At the end of last week, I'd lost 15 lbs and my husband lost 13. We've been walking and/or having family "dance parties" once a week for exercise.

The shake part of the challenge has been the easy part. I love coming up with new recipes, and we track all of our calories and activity here on Sparkpeople. My biggest challenge is getting in enough water and making sure I don't slack off on the walking. (It's starting to get colder, so I'm less motivated to get outside!)

Anyway, I'd love to see a resurgence here on this team - tell us your stories and what has worked and not, and what your favorite recipes are!
