Laura, I'm so glad the concert turned out well and that you enjoyed yourself. I know it's "that" time of year, but rain and slick streets and sidewalks sure do put a crimp in our plans. I hope you were able to get out today.

Oh, Lori. It's awful when it rains, rains, rains. I hope Christmas Day turns out to be sunny as predicted. In any event, I know your hearts will radiate the SONshine. I hope all goes well at your Mom's tomorrow and that it's not a stressful time as you do the prep.

Pat, I'm happy for you that you were able to get out and see the lights. Wow! You're right - so many people don't make it to 60 yrs of marriage. That's quite an accomplishment. Fantastic! Getting that angel yesterday was so timely. I'm sure she looks great in front of the church. I hope your day today is slower and quieter.

I wish you all Merry Christmas, with much joy in your hearts.

Never, EVER give up. Just pick yourself up and keep going.

We did get to go see the lights on Mon. night and this evening we had a 60th anniversary open house to attend so it has been a busy week. I did a little shopping yesterday and of course had to make a run today to get a card for the party this evening! Thought I had one and nope-nada-not an anniversary card anywhere. I also picked up a concrete angel for the park today. I had dropped it off before Thanksgiving to get it stained. It had belonged to a former resident and I had rescued it. It is now sitting in front of the church in the circle in front of our clubhouse.
Hoping tomorrow is quiet-it has been a busy 2 weeks so ready to slow down and relax.

Pat glad you had a nice day and NJ sounds like you will have a full house for Christmas.
The concert was really wonderful and we had a pretty good turnout for it too.
Depressed because of not going shopping today due to bad weather. Mixture of rain and snow; it is slick outside now.

Hi, Pat. Sorry the rain came early, and I hope you were able to get out and about tonight.
Those children's programs at church can be so cute. I am glad you enjoyed it.

These next few days are going to be rather busy, but I'm looking forward to my oldest DD and her family and my youngest DD coming over for Christmas. : )

NJ the rain arrived early so no lights tonight. We are hoping maybe we get a break and able to go out tomorrow night.
Had a lovely Christmas program with the children at church today. We played cards with Vickie, Sonny and their daughter and her DH after church.
A nice lazy Sunday-probably how Sunday's really should be! emoticon

Laura, How was the church concert? I'll bet it was beautiful.
How sad that you couldn't find all the Christmas tree branches. The tee is the one thing I really like to have set up. We're seeing a lot fewer Christmas cards this year, too. I think it has more to do with the cost of postage than anything else. We cut back slightly with what we sent, and I think that we may cut more next year.
My sympathies to Jenny. Unrelenting pain is awful. I hope she gets the help she needs.

Pat, I hope the rain hasn't interfered with your traditional Christmas lights tour. We often take one, too, but might not this year.
I'm glad you have these warm days, and yes, it seems appropriate to have slightly cooler weather for Christmas. : ) I hardly know what to think about our weather - it's to be in the low, low 40's these next few days, with rain, and maybe a few flurries late on the 24th.

These next few days......a dr appt tomorrow morning, followed by housework. Tuesday I'll take a DD to an appt, then I'll donate blood, and I have an eye appt in the afternoon. Then, there's Wednesday and doing all I can to get ready for Christmas day/dinner. As I've mentioned, first thing Christmas morning we'll celebrate with the animals at the shelter. I think that I'll have earned a rest on Friday the 26th, except that I want to get out and buy some 50% off Christmas stuff. whew! What we do to ourselves sometimes!

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas, remembering the Reason for the season; and a Happy New Year.

We are having beautiful weather that is to last thru tomorrow and then the rains are to start late evening (hopefully after we do our Christmas lights tour). It is to stay warm until Wed late and stay cool thru Fri and then warm back up again on Sat so guess we can handle a couple cool days. Make it feel like Christmas- ha ha!
Today I did outside work-got the last of the roses deadheaded and did some pruning at home too. Another load of laundry done and now I have ironing waiting on me!!
Hope everyone has a Blessed Sunday.

Nancy that is a shame about your volunteer work. It seems the government wants to tax us to death. Pat sorry the luncheon was so costly but glad you had a good time. Nancy over 3 dollars is a lot for iced tea. My dieting is nonexistent yet and tomorrow night we have a Christmas concert at church with snacks afterwards. Maybe I will wait till the new year begins.
Jenny still has foot problems and has to see the pain specialist again next month. We could not find all the branches to our Christmas tree; so I only have two things in the window for Christmas. Christmas cards are coming awfully slow this year. I am still waiting on 4 of them.

Hi Y'all. A correction to my last posting. Iinstead of getting renewed clearances for school volunteering every year or two, it 'only' has to be done every 3 years. Wheeee! (Sarcasm) Still a pain and an expense I don't think I want.

Moving on --

Pat, It's a shame that your luncheon was pricy, but I'm glad you enjoyed visiting the other ladies.
Wow! Ten batches of bark. I know your friends will appreciate you thinking of them, and the efforts it took to make it.
Hoorah! I'm so glad for you that the fireplace sold - especially since that makes Abbie happy. : ) Good luck with the rest of it.

DH and I grocery shopped this afternoon, stopping in at Ruby Tuesday's for lunch first. We had a coupon for $9 off a hamburger, but when they charge $3.59 each for iced tea, well, it wasn't a cheap lunch after all. Shudda ordered water to drink. Still, it was a decent burger, and a real treat to go out to lunch.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
Hugs, NJ

NJ so sorry that the legislature is making it so hard for you to volunteer. Once you have paid the money and passed it seems silly to continue to make people pay this again and again. I bet they lose a lot of volunteers as that is usually seniors and most are on a fixed budget. Not sure those in "power" actually think these things thru.
Hope you can find something else you can do to "fill the time" that you both enjoy.
The luncheon was ok but not what I expected-a pricey meal that definitely wasn't worth the $$. Visiting the other ladies was nice though.
Today I made 10 batches of bark and tomorrow I will bag it, tag it and get it out of here-gifts for friends!!
We did sell the fireplace today so that is out of here and Abbie is happy, her bed is now occupying that space and she is a happy furbaby.

Nancy, those delays are another reason I'm not wild about flying - although there ARE things I DO like about it. Anyway, I'm thankful for you/your DH that he finally got to where he was going. I sure hope his suitcase did, too! I had delayed luggage once, but at least it was on the homeward leg of my trip, and I had carried my medicines with me.
It used to be that (when my own kids) got to be a 'certain age' that they were hard to shop for, but now that my grands are getting there, they're easier......gift cards! Maybe not all the time, but certainly some times.
Good luck with the piano practicing. I'm sure you'll pick up the Christmas songs just fine.

Pat, wishing you all the best in selling your items on Craigslist. Sounds like the fireplace will. I'm so glad Bill has gotten good reports from these two doctors. And WHEW! So glad you were able to get the hearing aid batteries before the pick-up. I remember you saying that those suckers are expensive.
Wow! Must be the dr's office wanted to be sure Bill didn't forget them -- the reason for it taking so long. Poor guy, I know he was starved by the time he was released. It was real nice of Sonny to take him so you could go to your luncheon. How'd it go?
Very nice that your brother and his DH were able to spend several hours with you. Even tho' they 'only' live 2 hours away, sometimes that still makes it hard to get together.

The second grade teacher had laryngitis Tuesday and missed work, so we went today instead. Delightful day. Janesa (teacher) had a metal bowl with lots of fresh fruit in it. The kids added strips of card stock on which they had drawn an elf and wrote a sentence. Things like "Thank you for volunteering your time with us." and "You're on Santa's 'good' list". The elves faces each had a photo of the individual student's face.

I'm kind of bummed out. I helped out in a high school class in the fall, and will help in another starting in January. I enjoyed it. DH and I have been helping in a second grade class for several years, but aren't enjoying it as much as we did. Sure, there are some good days, but overall, we're beginning to burn out and have talked about not doing it after this school year. The PA legislature had nothing better to do than to pass a law that everyone who volunteers (or parent going on field trips) has to get a renewed clearance every year or two. These clearances (FBI, State Police, then school district) cost us $50 apiece. When we first got them, we were told that we wouldn't have to do it again as long as we didn't let 12 months lapse between volunteering dates. Now the legislature has stepped in. Making our decision to not go back all the easier. Of course, this impacts my helping at the high school, too, so I guess that's going to go down the drain. sigh. Will have to figure out something to do.

Must get ready to go to stitching tonight, and dinner will be ready before long, so I'll sign off for today.

Bill had the last test (I hope) for this year yesterday. Surely took long enough-told us 60-90 min and he was there from 9:30 till 1:15! Sonny took him so I could go to a ladies luncheon. They were both starved when they got out of there-Bill could not eat after midnight!! I was back home before they got back.
Hopefully fireplace will be gone by noon tomorrow. Lady coming and says she will buy it, if not, we have 3 more very interested so.....thinking it will soon be out of my family room. No luck on the tv so will lower the price. If it doesn't sell, it will just go in our Florida room!
My brother & his wife came and spent from 10-5 with us. He lives about 2 hrs away. Had a nice visit.

Pat - So glad Boll got good news from his doctor's visit and the test! Craigslist is a good site. We listed our duplex there and got a lot of responses. I bet the fireplace goes quickly! Enjoy your luncheon!

Nancy so happy that they replaced your tv. That is a good feeling. We have 4 Vizio tvs and all have done well. However, we opted to get a Samsung this time when we went to the 50". It had the best reviews so hoping it stands up. We like the picture and it was fairly simple to set up. Now I am just hoping we can sell the other on. We have it, the sound bar and the wall mounting bracket. If it doesn't sell, we will put it in our Fl. room. Not going to give it away!
NJ so happy Darby is doing better. Our poor furbabies go thru a lot. I bet Darby has dreams about bathrooms!! Abbie does not mind getting sprayed so that is easy. She just fights pills.

I got my ironing done early this morning. Then took Bill to the nephrologist. He got a good report there. When we got home, I got the tv and the fireplace on Craig's list and have had several inquiries about the fireplace so thinking it will go. So far, nothing on the tv.
I realized this weekend I had left the hearing aide batteries I had purchased for Bill in the bags I took in for Toys for Tots! Luckily I got to the drop off business today before they were picked up and retrieved the batteries.

Bill had the test on his carotid arteries this afternoon and the tech said things looked good to her and as many as they do she probably knows. I am going with that!!
I messed up dates and our ladies Christmas luncheon is tomorrow not Thursday so luckily Sonny can take Bill to the hospital for the test so I can go to the luncheon.

Pat - I'd like to do a lot of baking and give it away, but we don't know very many people. I'll just stick t,making our few favorites. If course, there are a lot of Christmas cookies that are my favorite! Good luck with your bark.

I'm glad the spray appears to be helping Darby.

We've had rainy weather here. It was Figgy this morning. The airline texted my husband last night to tell him the flight was delayed. Even either the "scheduled" delay, he had another two, hour delay. He had t,change his connecting flight so of course, his luggage didn't make it. It's supposed to be diverted tonight. Fortunately, his instinct told him to wear dress clothes instead of Jean like he normally does. If the luggage doesn't make it, still least he has nice clothes for tomorrow. Hopefully they show up. I finished our shopping for the kids tonight. They all have iPads so we got I tunes and Barnes and Noble gift cards. While I was at Barnes and Noble, I picked up an easy Christmas song book for piano. I want to spend lots of time this week learning to play them.

Nancy, what weird things your old tv did! I'm so glad you were able to return it for another. You're right - great timing that your B-I-L was there when you came home with the new one. emoticon The only Christmas baking I plan to do is a fruit pie (DH's request). One of my girls is to bring something else for dessert, so I know she'll bring something her family will eat - not sure if the boys would go for a fruit pie.

Pat, I remember you talked about the bread last year; that was such a neat idea. Bark is a great goodie to make and give to others. Good luck with it.
I've never heard of having to put even the drawers together, but glad you were able to figure that out, too. Maybe we all ought to write to manufacturers and request they ship stuff already put together! Having gotten directions both with and without pictures, I know how helpful it was that yours did include pictures.
Crossing my fingers and toes that your weather will warm up and your weatherman predicted. : )

The stuff we're spraying on Darby's bad spots is helping - they're still red, but no longer raw. My poor furbaby. We spray her in the bathroom (instead of on a carpet), and I have no doubt that she'll never again voluntarily enter a bathroom. LOL

We're enjoying a bit of sunshine for the first time in several days. It hasn't been raining, but has been overcast. emoticon

Nancy I have pretty much quit baking-we get so much baked good from friends so I have been trying to do different things. Last year I did different kinds of bread and gave those to people. The year before I did soup mixes in a jar. Wish me luck, I am going to make bark this year!! That is on tap for this week.
NJ let me tell you I do not know why they don't pack these things already put together, the box would not be much bigger! We even had to put the drawers together. It turned out nice but the instructions......well, Thank God they gave us pictures and labeled the screws and all the other little parts.
I got a couple loads of laundry done today-luckily got 1 washed and into the dryer before church and left right after putting in the 2nd one. I even got a bit more of the house straightened up before we left.
We started off cool again but warmed up nicely and I am looking forward to nearly 80 by the weekend-weatherman had best gotten that right!

NJ - Thanks for the prayers for Jason. His parents have a page in Caring Bridge and list updates often. He is still doing well with chemo and is a very strong kid. I'm glad you got your decorating done. Sorry to hear that Darby is still having trouble. Poor baby.

Pat - I hope you are feeling better by now. I've only had one UTI and hope to never have another one! I hope your new fireplace/tv entertainment center works the way you pictured it. I'm sorry you had such a hard time putting it together. We went through a similar situation last weekend with my nusband's desk. It was easier than the fireplace though.

Yesterday we waited for the tv repairman to show up. We just bought a new tv the beginning of October and have been having trouble since almost day one. When we fast forward a program we have recorded it often loses sound and we had to turn it off and back on, sometime when we turned it on it would have a green screen and we'd have to turn it off and on several times before it would work. Recently it started having black shadows moving through the screen. Of course we were given a window of noon - 4:00 for the repairman to show up. Fortunately he got here about 2. Instead of repairing it we were told to return it to Best Buy for a new one. We had originally purchased a Visio but opted for a Sony this time. I came I through the garage to unlock the front door so we could carry it in. When I opened the door, brother in law was there! I didn't have to help carry or install the tv! Perfect timing! While we were I town returning the tv we finished up most of our Christmas shopping. I still need to pick up one more gift for our daughter and some gift cards. My husband and I aren't doing a lot for each other this year, it there are a few things I want to get him. Hopefully I will be able to finished tomorrow night after work. I decided this user I'm not sending any cards. I sent out several last year and we only received a few. I' also cutting way back on my baking this year.

Whew! I know what you mean, Pat, about wishing they'd sent some people with the tv/fireplace so you wouldn't have to struggle so to get it put together. I'm happy for you that it's done, but I'M exhausted just reading all what you went through, starting with the cleaning. I'm glad Sonny and Vickie were able to help. Good luck with selling on Craig's List. I hope everything sells quickly.
Poor Abbie - I hope she quickly gets used to furniture being in different places.
If I were in your shoes, with all you've been doing for yourselves and for the park, I don't think I'd do much decorating. Maybe you can just enjoy what others have done.

The stuff we spray on Darby's spots/places is BEGINNING to help, but we have to watch her every second so she doesn't lick. I will be interested to hear what the vet/dermatologist tells us tomorrow about when to start her allergy shots. Even after we start, it's going to take several months before we start to see results.

Lori, emoticon Thank you for that verse. So timely.

I am whipped tonight! Bill putting together the tv/fireplace stand-not happening! His sight is not good enough to see to read the directions or to do the assembly so he is a pair of hands to help me! I am not the most mechanically inclined or whatever you call people who assemble things but I eventually get it done. We didn't get an early start-decided to sleep in this morning so didn't get up till after 8 and then had a nice breakfast of toast and eggs (and I had a couple slices of bacon) before getting busy. We took as much furniture out of the family room as we could and stashed it in the living room before I got busy and washed the front windows and swept the floor and used the steamer on it as the sofa had been where we were going to put the tv and fireplace/stand. I don't pull it all out often as that sofa is extremely heavy so......had to give it all a good cleaning first. Then we got busy putting the thing together. The instructions said it would take about 60 min! What a big joke. We worked from about 10:15 till 11:30 when reinforcements arrived-Vickie & Sonny came over to help us and the 4 of us worked till 2:30!!! They should have sent along 4 little Chinese to put this thing together!!!!! Vickie & I were assembling the drawers and managed to do it backwards but that was our only major screwup. However. it is now assembled, the fireplace works and I like it even better than the one we have and now need to sell. Getting the tv hooked up to satellite wasn't too bad. Sonny put the stand together and we got the tv mounted on it and there was only 1 line to attach the DVR to the tv - just had to plug it in. It took me about 30 min to figure out what I had to set the tv on to get it working and then probably another hour to program the remote to work both the DVR and the tv but now it is all working and we are able to watch tv. The family room doesn't look too bad BUT the living room and dining room are a mess yet. We still have the old tv hanging on the wall and don't plan to take it down until it is sold as it will be easier to store and not in our way! Hoping we can find the stand for it. Not sure what we did with it.
We stopped working about 3 and got cleaned up and went to a late lunch or early dinner at 3:30 with V&S and our MO friends (Bob & Ellie). They had wanted to go to Cedar River for fish yesterday but we were not hungry after eating out with R&R so we set it up for today. They were quite impressed with the food, how much you got and the price so I imagine they will be returning there. They both really like fish. After church tomorrow I hope to get the fireplace, old tv and our blue sofa listed on Craig's List and hopefully they will sell quickly as they are cluttering things up. Of course, one purchase means you buy several more items and thinking we will now have to buy 2 chairs for the family room as we are losing our 2nd sofa! I might bring out recliners from the motorhome back in from the Fl. room and put the blue sofa in the Fl. room-still thinking about that one. I am afraid it would ruin out there since we don't heat and cool it so.....not sure what I will do.
Bill is wiped out and sleeping. Abbie is upset as her house is not like it was-she is definitely a creature of habit. She will miss the sofa by the windows as she laid on the back and watched for us. Now she will have to lay on the one in the living room to watch.

I didn't realize how nice it was out till we went to eat-I was actually warm in the sweatshirt I put on. I think we started out at 39 this morning and must have gotten to 66
or close to that but it was nice and sunny and no breeze so very nice out there.

The mess should be cleaned up soon if I get lucky and all the extra stuff sold. V&S listed their sofa and loveseat about 2 and by 5:30 it was sold and gone just a couple weeks ago!

NJ your poor Darby. I hope something helps soon. Abbie's scabs are getting better so hoping I can keep from giving her the prednisone.

So happy you have gotten your inside decorating done. I am not doing much-might do a little more if I get the mess cleaned up-then might not! I will have all the park's stuff to put up after Christmas so that dampens what I do at home!!

Pat

Pat, thank you for telling me your experience with the "crazy" questions. : ) I'm having to work on not being so upset over it. It's one of those things where I need to catch myself and ask, "Nancy, WHY are you getting upset?" I certainly will talk with my dr when I see her next, and if need be, I'll see if my DH's dr will take me on. He's only 2 miles vs. the 12 or so my current dr is. Win-win. emoticon
I sure hope your new year will be less hectic. Certainly, when the dr finds out the cause of Bill's problems, that should help a lot.
Are you feeling better yet? I sure hope the UTI goes and finds some snake to bother - ok, I doubt they have such problems, but I hate snakes, and I can think of no more fitting animal to send your problem to. Haha Seriously, I hope the antibiotic kicks in real fast and takes care of things.
Wishing things in your family room DO work out as well as you have been picturing them. I just love it when a plan comes together.

I often sleep in the family room (recliner) because sleeping in my bed gives me a backache. Maybe we need a new mattress - I've mentioned it to DH. Anyway, last night I was wide awake, so I started decorating our family room for Christmas. That gave me enough mental peace to go to sleep. So now the tree is done (usually takes 2 days because I get tired of placing all the ornaments I can fit on the tree), the cards are mailed, DH is mailing the last package now, I'm almost finished with decorating the indoors. Let's see.....what am I forgetting? emoticon If I'm forgetting anything, it'll just have to remain undone.

When we lived overseas, I always had the Christmas cards ready for DH to mail on Black Friday, and packages were ready a very few days later. Since we've returned to the States, we've gotten lazy.

Can you stand more info about Darby? Her itchies are back with a vengeance. We're doing what the vet said to do, but DH plans to call Monday and inquire whether or not we SHOULD start the shots. It seems that it would be like throwing lit matches on a burn victim since the shots contain small amounts of what's she's most allergic to. Poor baby, I want to pick her up and hold her but she's allergic to humans, and besides, she weighs 60 pounds! We pet her, talk nicely and tell her "It's ok" which is what we say to reassure her in various situations. Thank you all for thinking good thoughts for my furbaby.

I hope you all have a great weekend, safe, fun, relaxing.

Nancy I am so sorry to hear about your co-workers son. St. Judes in one of my favorite charities and I am so happy to know that in a small way I will be helping someone you know. I love that they never charge the families a dime for care. Danny Thomas used his celebrity for good and Marlo has carried on. I wish more Hollywood types would use those $$$ to help those less fortunate.
Still have my fingers and toes crossed that you get a new job for your Christmas present!
NJ this was the 1st time our dr has ever had the nurse ask these questions and I gather it will not be every time. I would certainly question why they are giving it to you each time or change drs!
Sounds like you are almost ready for Christmas. I am getting there. I don't know why I am so lagging this year. Seems everything just rushed at me-maybe it has been all the dr appts. Hopefully after Tues we will be done for the year.
Bill had to see his oncologist at 8:30 so it was an early start to our day but we were back home before 9 so that was nice. Then it was off to W-Mart to get my RX. I am hoping I will be feeling better in a couple of days.
This afternoon our friends came about 1 and we had a late lunch. After they left, Sonny took us to Lowes and we picked up our new fireplace/tv entertainment center. Tomorrow we will get it put together and rearrange the family room. Hopefully it actually works out the way I have been picturing it in my head!!! emoticon

Pat, kudos on being able to do all you've been busy doing. I love it when I find out what someone wants for Christmas, and then 'lets' me buy it as a surprise. : ) Sure beats not being certain what they want. emoticon I'm so glad Bill likes the wallet you bought. Sometimes buying something for my spouse is an iffy thing. For example, I NEVER buy a tie - he's never liked the ones I have bought. Now I just stick to other things. Haha
I'm with you, Pat. I'd be horrified to rent a filthy place. Wishing Ellie the best in getting everything the way it should have been on move-in.
Congratulations on getting your cards done. I know from experience that that's a big job.
Whew! Yesterday was a big (read: loooong) day for you. I'm sorry your have an UTI, and hope the antibiotic takes care of it real soon.
I have a Medicare question for you: When I turned 65, my family dr did the do-you-have Alzheimer's test. She's done it every time I been there since. I can about accept having it done once as a base-line, but every stinkin' time?! Is it your understanding that it has to be done yearly? How asinine is that?! Insulting, degrading, aggravating. Ok, you know where I'm coming from. I'm not going to answer the questions any more. My DH is older than I am, and he never gets asked those questions, so it can't be a rule of Medicare. I may start going to his dr. Sorry - it burns me up.

Nancy, I'm glad you got rain instead of snow. We got some rain, then snow. Fortunately, we (personally) got a bit less than 2 inches, but about 10 miles north of us got a lot more, and 10 miles south of us didn't get ANY snow. Go figure!
I hope you get the job. What a great Christmas present that would be. emoticon
I'll be praying for little Jason. How very sad. It's a real shame that some cancers still have terrible survival rates, even when caught early. I hope he can be helped, and that his parents will be ministered to as well. How very thoughtful of you and your coworkers to put together a care package for them.
It's exciting that y'all are able to give so much to the women at the shelter. I'm certain it warms their hearts to know that someone cares.

Lori, I'm so glad you have a beautiful, sunny day. And I hope you have a SUPER weekend.

I finished decorating our Christmas tree today, but have the family room to do yet. Also need to wrap a bunch of presents, but at least the Christmas cards are done and in the mail, and the big package is mailed. Just a small one to mail tomorrow. Whew! I think I see light at the end of the tunnel. Just hope it's not another train coming! emoticon

Have a great weekend, y'all.

Never, EVER give up. Just pick yourself up and keep going.

Pat - Thank you for the prayers. I really need to get a new job, I'm starting to get miserable here. Pizza try to re I d myself that st least it's a job, but it's not really helping. It is good that there are jobs available now and that people are interested in me. I bet you were tired after yesterday! You accomplished s lot! I think it's sweet that you snick guck to get the frog for Vicki.shw will be both surprised and happy! It's good that your doctor spent that much time with you. It seems like they are usually in a big hurry.

Last night we put the "baskets" together for the shelter. Each woman will receive 7 or 8 boxes of food! There was even a small stuffed animal, candy canes, and another bag of candy. It just warms my heart to be part of that. I found out that one of the ladies on my floor's so has cancer. He's only 9 or 10. He was having trouble with his bowels and his tummy was bloated. She took him to the doctor and they sent him right to the hospital for testing. Within a couple days they were on ear way to St. Jude's in Tennessee. I can't remember what kind of cancer, but it inly has a 15% survival rate. It broke my heart to hear of this. We put together a care package to send the family. I wish I could do more to help. Can you please add this little boy to your prayers? His name is Jason.

Nancy I will be praying that good things happen and you get one of these jobs. At least there are some out there to apply for now.
I was busy working on my ironing this morning when Vickie called about 8 and we decided to go to the Thursday market about 10 so it had time to warm up a bit. Another cool start to the day! Think it was about 43 when we woke up and only got to 61 today. We took Ellie with us and I think she enjoyed it all. A lot of the things we do down here is really novel to her and Bob. Bob didn't think he could handle the walking so he stayed home and cleaned carpet! The house they are renting for the winter had filthy carpets so they borrowed my shampooer and have been working on them. I would have been ashamed to rent a place that wasn't clean. Ellie has washed the windows and now working on getting the tub and shower clean. The owner should pay them for all the cleaning they are doing!!! The mattress pad on Ellie's bed is more rag than pad so will take her to find one at a flea market soon. We picked up 2 small shepherd hooks for $5 but will have to paint them black-they are bright blue now and not a pretty color. Also got a couple of birds to wire to our birdhouses and 2 more garden stakes. Spent a total of $7.50 on park items. Vickie admired a glass frog that is a light but wouldn't buy it so I sneaked back and purchased it for her for Christmas. Now I need to find something for Sonny. We all purchased some fruits and veggies. I just got tomatoes today. I even bought Bill a new wallet and he actually likes it. Glad I took a chance and got it as his is falling apart!! He got an early Christmas present.

We ate at a nice Mexican restaurant in Eustis but I don't know the name of it. Prices were right too. It is where the expensive steak house used to be. We will definitely return.

We made it back home at 2:30. Bill had done our sheets before we left and he got them into the dryer and before we headed to the dr at 4 they were dry and we got the bed remade before we left. Bill managed to get a nap and I finished up my Christmas cards. Glad to have that job finished!

We ran into Don & Lin at the market and he bought a golf cart there today. Sonny borrowed a trailer from a friend here in the park and he hauled it home for his this afternoon. It is nice to have friends and always help each other out.

Of course it was time to leave to go to our primary doc by the time I finished my cards so I didn't get a nap. We had a 4:30 appointment and didn't get out of there till 6. The nurse gave us some tests to see how well we did with our memory today. Something new Medicare requires. Guess they want to see if we are Alzheimer's candidates. Dr. Ankoh spent over half an hour with us. We had lots to discuss. I do have a UTI and have to go on an antibiotic so will have to go get that tomorrow. He sent the order to W-Mart and I didn't figure it would be ready tonight. Bill has to have his carotid arteries checked again-it has been 18 months and last time it showed some blockage so he doesn't want to let it go too long. We were both ready to crash when we got back home.

Pat

NJ - It does make me feel good to be able to help out. Especially when it's something like they. I know they lots of women stay I subside relationships because they can't afford if on their own. The "baskets" are actually boxes that are given to the ladies when they leave the shelter to help them set up their new homes. I'm glad they were sale to figure out what Darby is allergic to. We had rain Monday, but it was warm enough that it stayed rain.

Pat - We came close to killing each other over the desk. Not really, but there were a few stressful moments. How sad that thy school for the deaf was being abusive. I found out that all Harley dealers have to do at least one charity even per year. I guess it's supposed to help weigh the glad rep that bikers have. I just feel good helping others less fortunate.

Yesterday I took a test for a job at the County. The test was pretty way so I should be getting called back for an interview. My interview went well yesterday. They job sounds like it's going to be staring at a computer all day and doing data entry. I have another interview this morning, and I think that's the job I want

Nancy you really were a busy little beaver this weekend. Glad you were able to find a desk and get it put together. Bill & I can almost kill each other putting things together, but we always manage to do it!! emoticon How nice of your Harley Group to do something for the battered women's shelter. My brother belongs to a HOG chapter in JAX and they do a toy run every Christmas and do other charitable things throughout the year. When I worked, we used to adopt women in a battered women's shelter and bought for specific ladies the things they needed. Then our camping group adopted families and the entity overseeing them would give us lists of things they needed and we shopped accordingly. A few years ago we did adopt several children at a deaf school and this year that school made news for abuse. We visited it several times and never saw anything but again, that was about 10 years ago! One never knows, I wanted to Adopt a Senior this year, but it was never advertised in the newspaper as usual so I guess either the sponsor isn't doing it this year or forgot to put out the message to the community.
NJ so glad you were able to get some answers for Darby. Poor furbaby having to get shots but hopefully they will help in time. Sounds like a nice little outing for you & DH too. I haven't been to a big mall in ages. Our local one is quite small and that is fine with me. I avoid Orlando at all costs. emoticon
I felt like I was running the streets today. I went to W-Mart about 9 am to order my pics for my Christmas cards and as it was going to take about 90 min for them, had to come home as DH had to see his cardiologist for his 6 mo checkup this morning. I got a few cards done before we left for the dr and we didn't get home till 12:30. Vickie & I went back to W-Mart about 1:15 and we did a little shopping and picked up my pics before heading home about 2:30. We also stopped at Walgreens and I got DH his hearing aide batteries as they are BOGO and I had $1.50 off coupons so felt it was a good time to stock him up.
We have been cool and rainy all day-just a steady mist for most of the day so no walking today.

Hi, Nancy! Wow! You sure did have a productive (busy!) weekend. Good for you. emoticon I'm glad you got the curio cabinet. It's nice to have family heirlooms and now you can display your collectables. Woo-Hoo! Double good. You're right - there's always time for cleaning. I'm happy for you that you got the decorating done, too.
How nice that DH got another desk. Sure makes a difference when you want to spread something out a bit, to not have to move something else. I'm sure he's going to enjoy having it.
Shopping for the battered women is wonderful; I know they'll appreciate it. Doing what I do for our local battered women's shelter (and a related homeless shelter) means a lot to me - being able to help those less fortunate and generally giving back to the community. I'm sure it's like for you, too.
I've decided to take Pat's advice, and not worry if DH doesn't bring decorations upstairs. I just can't stress over everything, and things that I cannot control should be the least of my worries.

We left early this morning and the not-quite 2 hour drive went without a hitch, so Darby got to her vet appt. After leaving Darby at the vet's, DH and I found a Mom and Pop-type diner and had breakfast, then went on to the King of Prussia Mall (Philadelphia) where we walked a lot. Didn't buy anything, but looked at a few things. I about decided that I'm not rich enough to go to that mall - not an entirely accurate statement, but boy! When you realize they have a Lord and Taylor, Nordstrom, and ritzy jewelry and leather stores, you understand. emoticon

We got a call from the vet before we expected it so we made our way back there where we talked first with a nurse, then the vet came in. Darby has a list of things with varying degrees of allergies to them. She's allergic to grasses and less so to trees (especially white birch - guess what we have in our yard); and as suspected, dust mites. The vet had already told us that it's very common for dogs to be allergic to dust mites; but then, it's also a very common allergy for humans, too. When he told us she's allergic to humans, I laughed about DH and I moving out and leaving the house to Darby. The vet laughed.

So, (I AM about to wrap up this subject....) we will be giving Darby injections to try to desensitize her, and will go back for a check-up in a few months. Since I gave insulin injections to my (favorite) cat, I know how; but DH may be planning to do it himself.

OK, new subject. : ) We had rain over the weekend, but the rain starting today isn't expected until much later. Good thing, since it's probably going to be mixed with snow, and continue into Wednesday. Ugh. I know, it's winter.

I hope each of you has a really, really great week.

Never, EVER give up. Just pick yourself up and keep going.

Pat - I am sorry that your dinner was cut short. I really do hope they can get you some answers. I'm sure it is hard on both of you.

NJ - I hope you were able to talk hubby I to bring the decorations up for you. Mine doesn't help with the decorating so I can't do it whenever. 5:00 is early, even when you do it all the time!

We had a very productive weekend! Friday my husband went to his sister's warehouse and picked up his mom's curio cabinet for me. I guess hey didn't have room for it in their new house. My gain! I spent a couple hours after work on Friday carrying boxes of my collectibles up from the basement and putting them away. I haven't been able to display my bells and my grandma's salt and pepper shakers since we moved 2 1/2 years ago! Saturday I did my decorating. I decided I didn't need to clean beforehand. I will do the cleaning next week when he is away. Yesterday he decided to buy a second desk for his office. He didn't have much work surface between our desktop, his company laptop and the printer. So we spent the afternoon putting that together and rearranging things. It moms nice and he should have plenty of room now. This is going to be another busy week. Tuesday we are going shopping with our Harley group for a home for battered women. I have another interview on Wednesday and Thursday we will pack the food that we buy on Tuesday.

Hi, Pat. I'll take a look at the pic of Abbie shortly. I enjoyed your blogs with the pictures of the bowling balls and decorations. You do such beautiful work for the park.

I'm working my way to bed now, and we've decided to get up around 5:45 instead of 5:00, so that little bit will help. That was because we won't be eating breakfast at home, but after we drop Darby off at the vet.

Ugh! I hate it when the temps drop like yours did. That's just too big of a drop in 24 hours. Too bad the weather interfered with your parade plans this eve.

Have a good night's rest.

NJ I posted Abbie's pic on my Spark Page and blogged on our Christmas decorations and the bowling balls.
I do hope you get to bed early tonight so you get enough rest before you have to get up early. I pray that you get to the bottom of Darby's problem. I know what you are going thru as Abbie has issues too.
We went from 80 yesterday to 69 for a high today. It was overcast and damp so felt even cooler. What a difference a day made.
Our pastor's wife delivered their 5th son this week so he was not in church-he was busy helping mom with the newborn and the other 4! I had 2 sons and cannot imagine 5!
We took it easy today-went to breakfast before church and this afternoon played cards. Had planned to go to the lighted boat parade this evening but the weather changed our minds.
Hope you have a great week.

emoticon emoticon Pat, thank you for the encouragement. Indoor decorating is as important to me as outdoor decorating is to my DH, and somehow I just HAVE to have a tree, at least. But I've been reminding myself (several times a day) that the Christmas spirit doesn't depend on my surroundings - True Christmas spirit is Jesus Christ within me. This is a good lesson for me. : )

Will you be able to post pictures for us? I'd love to see them. Abbie is such as cutie, and takes a great picture. Did she have a Christmas bow in her hair?

I'm dreading tomorrow - I figure I'll have to get up at 5:00 or just after -- I know, I know; that's not early for some of you, and I do get up that early for election days and when we travel. still, that's only so many days a year, and I've grown quite lazy in retirement. Haha.

Darby has to be at the doggie dermatologist for testing at 8:30 and it's the best part of a 2 hour drive one way. It will be worth it when they decide what she's allergic to.....hope it's not DH and/or me! I guess what I'm saying is that I won't be on the computer until at least mid-afternoon.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

NJ I wouldn't worry about it. If DH doesn't bring things up then you are excused from decorating and if it gets too late in the month I certainly would not bother! I guess after all the decorating I do I am in a "Bah, Humbug" stage so don't mind me- emoticon
I don't have my cards done either but did get pics done today so will run to W-Mart and get them printed off and be ready to finish the cards next week.

Thank you, Lori. I hope YOU have a wonderful weekend.

Nancy, thank you for the clarification on the tree lights. Makes sense. Good luck with the house cleaning and decorating. I hope you're having a relaxing weekend. It's been a rough week for you, hasn't it. I hope step-brother does well, but I'm glad he's out on his own. He really has imposed on all the family long enough.

I think it would be great to see a launch, even if you're not 'right there'. I'm glad you got some pictures, Pat. It's a shame that Bill got sick from that one bite of food. I hope the night's rest was good and that he's feeling better today. I hope that y'all will find out something definitive next week at his appointment.

Yesterday afternoon/evening I thought I had everything well in hand. But today I'm feeling the days slip by and I have quite a bit more to do. Realistically, I 'just' have to finish addressing the cards, wrap everything that's going to Mississippi, order a few things for DH since I couldn't find them in stores, and somehow get DH to bring the in-house decorations upstairs. I did suggest today that since our weather is so bad (rain) and we can't get outdoors, that maybe we should bring the indoor stuff up. No comment from DH, so we'll see. Probably nothing this afternoon, and tomorrow is church. But maybe he'll agree to do it tomorrow afternoon. I'm trying to not stress out. I mean, what's the worst that would happen if I DON'T get all these things done 'on time?' Sometimes I put a lot of stress on myself. Must stop doing that!

Sorry, sometimes I just need to verbalize.

I hope you all have a emoticon weekend

Never, EVER give up. Just pick yourself up and keep going.

Thanks for the prayers. It has been a long drawn out affair trying to get to the bottom of DH's issues. It started back in May with the GI bleed and we have been trying to figure it all out since then! I feel sorry for him-he has to go thru all these tests but it affects both of us. He got so ill in the summer we had to cut our trip short and come home. He has been doing fairly well the past month but tonight we went out to eat, he took a bite of fish and that was it-could not eat anymore! Never know when it will strike. 9 of us had gone out and .....he wasn't feeling good and sleeping like a baby since we got home,
Nancy & NJ home you are both able to get your decorating done soon. It seems the month is just flying by to me.
Guess our great weather is going to come to a screeching halt in a couple days. We got up early to watch the satellite launch this morning and I got a few pictures.

NJ - I think if one light goes out you can just replace at the one bulb. I haven't had them go out yet. It still has the strings of lights, they are just attached to the tree. I'm nit sure when I'll get to my decorating either. I like to clean house first and hubby is home again next week. I may decide to clean while he's home so I can decorate. We'll see what this weekend brings.

Pat - I hope you are able to get some answers about Bill soon. That has to be so frustrating for both of you.

Lori - TGIF!

I'm glad this week is over. I'm ready for the weekend. We moved step brother out of veother's house last night! I'm tired today but am glad it's over, brother is very happy to have his house back.

: ) Pat, I'm not wild about all the work, but I still like having a decorated tree in the living room, so I do it. But one of these days.............
You're so right about vet bills. You are so lucky to have a low cost vet whom you like. Darby's visit next Monday, which will include the allergy testing plus six months of medicine (for us to inject), is projected to cost over $500. sigh. Well, we spent a small fortune during Callie's (cat) last six weeks, so I won't complain.

I'm glad you were able to choose a Part D, Pat. I know it can be intimidating, and frustrating when you needed additional information from the dr. I trust y'all WILL be able to get to the bottom of Bill's problem, and not much longer. That's what I'm praying for.

Never, EVER give up. Just pick yourself up and keep going.

Ah, the days of decorating the 7 ft tree are way past me. I gave all my ornaments to my one son (other had moved to Fl) and if he has them, great, if not, oh well, I don't know and don't care anymore-ha ha! I had some collectible ones but .....can't worry about them anymore. I didn't even put up our fiber optic tree this year. If I get things rearranged I MIGHT do it otherwise not going to bother.
We had to go have blood drawn this morning-dr appt. is next week then at 11 Abbie had to see the vet and that is a 30 min trip. We go to a low cost clinic but really like the lady vet there so worth the trip. It is awful how expensive a vet visit has gotten. Her visit today was $65 but it cover the office visit, a shot, pills, nail trim, ear cleaning and anal glans cleaned. At one of our local vets it would have been over $100.
I finally made a pick on a Part D plan for Bill this afternoon and also ordered him a replacement Medicare card as his is literally falling apart! I hope I made a wise choice! Bill has to go for another test next week since everything checked out on the last bunch of tests. I am beginning to wonder if we are ever going to get to the bottom of his problem.
I had planned to work on Christmas cards this afternoon but never got to it-spent too much time on the above!
Hope you all had a great day.
Pat

Pat, it is hard for me to curb myself at a buffet. While I did stay within calories a couple of days ago, not all my choices were the best. Still, it was progress. : )
I am making progress on my to-do list, knowing that one item (indoor Christmas decorating) won't be addressed before the weekend, if then. DH refuses to bring the tree and other stuff upstairs until we've finished the outdoors. sigh. It always take me a couple of days to do the indoor decorating, since I do it all myself.
Pat, you sure have been doing a LOT of cleaning and decorating the park. I get tired just thinking about how much you accomplish. emoticon Your personal decorations sound beautiful; but your experience with the lights for the wire lighthouse is a shame. After all, you checked them out before using them. I don't blame you for tossing them and starting over.
I'm sure Bill is going to enjoy having his frequently-used tools handily in sight - no more digging through drawers.
Don't you just hate it when someone says they will call back, then they don't? That's why, when I worked, I would make a point of calling before the end of the day, even if I had to say I wasn't able to do what I said I would, and giving them an updated time when I'd do as asked. But for a dr's office to not at least call to say they'd have to get back to you the next day - that just stinks.
I'm glad you had help getting the receiver up, and that you were able to get it going. It's great that you don't have to go to bed to watch tv - my DH frequently falls asleep while watching, and he sits in a recliner - almost as bad as a bed. LOL

Nancy, you're a better person than I am. When we go to a pizza buffet, I eat way too much thin crust pizza. DH doesn't like thin crust, so when we order take out, it's almost never thin crust. emoticon
OUCH! I'm so sorry your (same) tooth broke. Whew! Glad the dentist can save your own tooth, and a crown will help preserve it longer. Glad you don't need a root canal.

I wanted to ask: what happens if/when a single light on your pre-lit tree goes out? Do they all go? It sure sounds nice to not have to wind strings of lights around the tree - although I admit that DH does that. He puts the tree up (individual branches) and I 'fluff' it before DH adds the lights. Then I open the boxes of ornaments and see how many I can get on the tree before I get tired of hanging them. Ha! I can't fit them all on the tree at once any more. I've crossed stitched several, some are from 1,000 years ago, some the kids made when they were young, even some from the grandkids, and of course, some DH and I bought, such as the one from the Grand Canyon.

Have a Super Thursday, Y'all.

Never, EVER give up. Just pick yourself up and keep going.

Pat - You sure had a full day! I hare it when the Christmas lights work when you test them and then do t when you have them in place. We bought a tree that has the lights attached. I hate stringing the lights. I haven't thought about decorating yet. Well, I've thought a it it but that's as far as I got!i like to do the decorating once I have the house cleaned and I haven't cleaned so ce last week. I might do some tonight if hubby is gone. He's supposed to be helping move step brother out of brother's and into his own place. I hope it really happens! Dentist was able to save the tooth again but he does need to put a crown on it or it will just keep breaking, it's more filling than tooth. The good news is no root canal!

Another fabulous day today-79 for a high here. We did get a quick shower about 1 that lasted maybe 15 min but at this stage of the year, we are happy to get rain since this is our dry season.

Bill & Sonny went for coffee and donuts as usual and I walked. They thought Bob, our MO friend, was going to join them but he never showed up. Talked to Ellie later and she said he was sleeping sound when she got out for a walk. She said she thought the trip finally caught up with them. Vickie caught up with me before I got too far along in my walk and we finished our walk together. We actually met up with Bill & Sonny up front and then Ellie came along and joined us.

When I got home from my walk, I ate a bite and then I got to work on getting what little Christmas decorating I was going to do here done. Bill worked on getting his tools organized-he has them scattered all over in the "work room". He put up peg board and is trying to put the ones he uses often on it so they are easy to find. He had them all jumbled in a drawer and always had to dig thru that so hopefully this will be better WHEN he gets it done. I put lights on the back fence and put a wreath on the Florida room. I put a sled on the door into the Florida room in the carport. Then I got a string of lights and checked them and they lit up fine so I attached them to the wire lighthouse on our front porch. Well, once I got it all done, those darned lights would not work!! I ended up cutting the ties and pitching them and doing it all over again. That took me about an hour!! I still need to put my fiber optic tree in the Florida room and that is all I plan to do. May put out a few things inside but not a lot.

I had to cut some leaves off of my elephant ear as they were hanging over our fence in the back. That is always a job. I did that after I got the decorating done. Gardening is never done down here!

I called Bill's new gastro doc about 11:30 and the gal said they would call back this afternoon but they didn't so they will get a jingle tomorrow. Would like to get some answers soon. I have to make that decision on his drug prescription insurance so need some kind of an answer!

Roger & Ruthie came about 12:30. They were in town to pick up some things and we grabbed a bite at the takeout Chinese restaurant by Publix on 27 as it was lunch time. We didn't want to be gone long as we are expecting the delivery of the tv and the replacement receiver so picked them for fast service. Then it was back here to play cards and lo and behold, our replacement Dish receiver had arrived while we were gone to get lunch! Can you believe it didn't rain up town but did here. We saw all this standing water and asked and Vickie said we had the little shower!!!!

Roger helped me take the old receiver off and attach the new one-we did it one connection at a time so we didn't get anything mixed up. Well, it went thru a portion of the set-up and then stalled! We went ahead and played cards and then when they left I got online and figured out I had to register the box and managed to get the tv in the family room to come on but could not get the one in the Florida room to. They are both controlled by the same box so I got online and talked to a tech and after about 45 min we finally got it going. I ended up having to unplug the box and let it reset and I think that is actually what fixed things. I think it just got hung up earlier and wasn't going to ever work without getting reset. They had me unhook and rehook all those connections and all kinds of things. Now mind you I was running back and forth from the Florida room to the family room-had to have numbers and do this, what is that saying now, etc. Sure was frustrating but I got it done. Wasn't going to let it beat me. Now can you imagine if I have to hook up a new tv! We still haven't decided if we will keep it or not.

Thank God-we can now watch tv in here instead of having to go to bed. Bill was always going to sleep almost as soon as he got in bed and then waking up about 3 am. That wasn't working well for me!!!

I went around to check the lights in the park and we have some problems-one in Vickie and my area and the other with the other crew so hoping we can get that fixed tomorrow.

Never a dull moment.

Nancy I hope the dentist was able to fix your tooth. Never a fun thing is it.

NJ - We did sleep and after shopping we stopped for breakfast and went home and back to bed. I don't think the shop has opened that early since then. They weren't expecting such a huge turnout. There was no fighting that I know of, but I just don't do well in crowds. I get claustrophobic. Yum! I love the Chinese buffet! I always eat too much and the wrong things too. We don't go very often though. When we went to the pizza buffet on Saturday we both started with soup and salad. I had part of a piece of fried chicken and a slice of dessert pizza. I was still over full, but not stuffed and miserable.

Pat - You sure had a busy day yesterday! I laughed when I read about Bill stopping to chat with everyone passing by. I can't wait to see pictures of your art work. I hope I have as much energy as you do when I get to retire. Sometimes I get worn out just reading about what all you do!

Work went by fast yesterday. I stayed busy and got most of my monthly stuff done. I'm leaving early today as I have a dentist appointment. The tooth that broke off last December broke again on the other side this time. It's mostly filling so I don't know if he'll be able to save it this time.

NJ good for you for being able to stay in range and eat out at a buffet. I can easily lose it when we go to one. We have taken to going to a take out (or you can eat in) Chinese restaurant and their luncheon meal provides enough for 2 meals! Hope you are making progress on your to-do list. I have one daily and today I left 3 things still on there-moved to tomorrow along with another half dozen things!!
Nancy I haven't done Black Friday shopping for over 10 years. Too much stress for me. A friend said she stood in line for over 45 min. in Kohls!! Nothing I want is worth that.
Laura I hope the ice is melting. I do remember the icy days and thankful I no longer have to deal with that. Be extra careful this winter.
After my walk this morning, Bill & I got busy on the Florida room and we hauled off 3 big trash bags full (not all from in there though). We are about 1/2 done. I am more done with my part than Bill is with his. He worked about 30 min and spent the rest of the time sitting and chatting with whoever came by. No wonder he isn't making progress.
I brought out our plastic table and chairs and cleaned them and they are now out of the carport where we can use it more easily. I had to use outdoor bleach on the table cover and it is still not white. I may give it another shot tomorrow. I also gave the new library sign a shot of clear gloss every 30 min or so. I wanted to protect the new paint job. I will get a pic and post it soon along with more of the bowling ball yard art. I got all of my "project" stuff up on the new shelving so that is a relief. I didn't go thru it all so still need to do that as I work on things. Some is going to the trash if I am not ever going to use it!
After a bite of lunch (an apple for me), I gave Abbie a bath and she air dried afterwards. I got Vickie about 1:30 and she & I worked on putting out the bowling balls and placing the library sign. One would not think it would take so long but we got sidetracked by the other crew who was putting out the last of the Christmas decorations up front. They needed to find some things in storage so I had to stop and go do that. It was 3 by the time we finished and we were starved so cleaned up, grabbed our hubbies and our friends who arrived from MO on Sat (they are renting for 4 mo) and headed to Olive Garden for soup and salad. Can't beat lunch for 2 for under $13. (We did have $2 off coupons to help)
I washed the table one more time when we got home and we have everything all situated now. I plan to use it to sit out and work on some of my craft stuff.
Guess we will start it off again tomorrow!

Pat, you do a great job of walking, and remember that we all plateau now and then. Don't get discouraged or be hard on yourself. Sure, look at your eating and other things, and if a change is reasonable and reasonably needs to be made, make it. Just don't lose sight of how much more healthy you are now than you were even a year ago.
I'm glad you temps are more normal for you, and hope they keep up - no freezes this winter!

Laura, I hope you and Jenny stay safe - ice, black ice in particular is so dangerous. I'm sorry Jenny was burned and hope she soon heals and finds relief from the pain.

How horrible, Nancy - first you had to be there at 4:00 (did you even sleep Thanksgiving night?) a few years ago, then there were big crowds. I don't blame you for not getting out again. It's horror stories like that, and the fighting and mob scenes we all see on the tv that keep me from shopping then.
Glad you had temps in the 50's - we started out in the 50's today, but it will be slowly sliding down to freezing tonight, and not get higher than maybe the mid-30's tomorrow with mixed rain/snow. emoticon Knock, knock -- winter's here, ready or not!
Hopefully, you'll have a decent afternoon, then be able to relax tonight.

I was starting this post awhile ago when my screen went totally black. As I sat here staring and thinking about what to do, I got a message that there had been a problem and Outlook (or something) had closed everything down. I shut it off and got on the treadmill, and am now back on my computer. D' ya realize how hard it is to type with your fingers crossed? LOL I did a bit of housework this morning, and spent some time on the treadmill, so I have gotten my exercise in for today. I made a list yesterday of things I want to get done this week, so need to make sure to work on one or two each day. Some of them won't take much time, but a couple (like addressing cards) will take more time.

DH came to me late this morning and said he wanted to go to the Chinese buffet for lunch, and if I wanted to, I could come. (He like to tease) So that's what we did. I do better than I used to, but still need to work on my portions, and what I eat. It's a work in progress, but it IS progress. No regrets. I came home and tracked what I ate, and as long as I have a reasonable dinner, I'll stay within my calorie range for the day. Wheeeee!

NJ - I don't blame you for not shopping in Black Friday. We went out once in the late afternoon and it wasn't bad. Two years ago we shopped early at the Harley store because they were offering 40% off everything at 4:00 am. We did t think it would be as crowded as it was and we haven't gone again! We haven't had much of an accumulation of snow yet. Just a few flurries mostly.

Pat - We had temps in the 50's Saturday and loved it! Back to reality today though. The high is supposed to be 26. I get you're relieved to have the park decorated. I hope your foot is feeling better by now. I can't believe it's already December either!

It was so nice to have 4 days off work. Even though I was busy on Thursday. I did t want to get up this morning and I do t want to be here at work either. At least I have a job. I guess I should be thankful for that.

Hi everyone;
Thanks N.J. and pat for telling me that. Now i can relax; I know Jenny even looked it up on their site. And they said that if they are going to sue you they will send a letter first. Sure is cold here today. Yesterday it warmed up enough to melt some of the snow; then it got colder and created ice! i do not want to fall again like earlier this year. My hand is not the same as it used to be. Uncle Arthur has been visiting me of late. In the early morning i have pain in my left arm and in my legs. Now my ankle is acting up again too. i pray some of the ice will go away. I have to get some books at the library this week. Jenny burned herself a couple days ago frying a steak. Now she has a blister on her stomach. Hope your feet feel better soon Pat. Congratulations on all your new grandchildren Nancy.

You can call me Laura.

Well we are down to the final month of this year-where did it go??? The older I get the faster the months seem to go too.
I am trying to convince myself that I cannot let stress de-rail me. I do my walking but not losing so I am definitely eating too much. Guess I have to do something different to kick-start things too.
We have warmed back up to normal temps-77 today and to stay in the upper 70's and low 80's all this week. Loving it-that is why I am down here!!
Hope all of you have a great start to December.
