Pat - As of about an hour ago it is rented! We have the inside done except for getting our tools and cleaning supplies out. The tenant in the already rented side brought her cousin over to look at it while we were working. She filled out the application and I called her past landlords today. She was so happy when I called t tell her she got it! I'm glad Boyd got to come home. It's going to be difficult for hi to move with two broken vertebrae! I wouldn't have given the waitress a tip at all. We tip very well if they deserve it, but if they don't earn it, we don't tip.

NJ - I don't think I could take on any other projects right now if I had too! We are both so worn out from all the weekends of working. As I told Pat, the duplex is done and rented as of today! I'm sorry Josh's team lost. That has to be a huge disappointment for all of you. Have a safe trip home.

Today was another busy day so work. I just about have all of my monthly things done. I'm covering row floors for the next two days. I'll be ready for a weekend. It's supposed to rain all weekend so we may just get our things out of the duplex and then head home to work on some small things here. I think I told you about the wall we built in our basement earlier. We covered the side of the stairwell with some wood paneling. One side is all decorated won shelves and Harley things. My husband got a lot of pictures and things to hand on the other side but we haven't done it yet. He wants to work on hunts this weekend. It will be nice to do things on our own house for a change. Oh! Our realtor emailed me asking what the average utilities are. We may have an interested party! Keep your fingers crossed for us.

Nancy, I'm glad you're taking a good "that can wait" attitude about the area not yet landscaped - "sufficient to the day is the evil thereof". You're doing so much right now, that I'm glad you aren't fretting over getting the rest of the landscaping done right away.
How are things coming in the other side of the duplex? I hope the work is all done, and that soon someone will come along and rent it.

Pat, it sounds like you had the wonderful day I was hoping for you - except for breakfast. I had something like that happen once when we were in London with friends.....I ended up not getting any because we needed to be somewhere and couldn't wait until they go around to my order. I'm so glad the weather was great. It would have been awful otherwise.
I'm glad Boyd is back home, but sorry he is having such problems. Hopefully, the medicine and dr's orders will help. And gee, two more fractured vertebrae - I sure hope they heal quickly.

Josh's team DID get to play their final game today, with no rain. emoticon The sun was out with a vengeance, but we had our umbrellas and stayed shaded. Josh caught the first three innings, then Jack took over (they trade off a lot). At the start of the last inning, Jack was 'warming up' the pitcher when a ball hit the ground in front of him and bounced up hitting him in a very tender/sensitive spot. Poor guy. After awhile he was able to be helped to his feet and helped off the field. Josh caught that inning. Later Jack's Dad said he's ok, but it had happened about 1-1/2 weeks ago, too. Sadly for the team, they lost. That was one win and five losses. One loss was by a single run, another by just two runs, and surely they learned some things from this tournament.

We depart tomorrow morning, getting home Friday......it's over 700 miles. I'm ready to be home again. I do enjoy watching Josh play baseball, but this has been a mixed-feelings tournament. Lots and lots of rain, a few annoyances with the motel (not enough to move), and of course, I had hoped USA Elite would have won more games. Still, I enjoyed it.

I hope you all have a good night's rest, and a fun Thursday. emoticon

NJ I can't say that I blame you for not wanting to go into Atlanta proper. Our bus driver was excellent and did a great job navigating there. Glad Josh finally got to play a full game. Hope he wins his last game. When are you heading back home?

Nancy it sounds like you are trying to stay on top of things. Did you get the other side of the duplex done? Do you have it rented yet?

We had a great day at the flea market. We have a huge one in Webster, Fl but this one is even bigger. I got in 9800 steps just walking it all! Bill really got tired out-he is not used to all the walking.
We were up quite early, got our showers and on our way by 7:45 this morning. We arrived in Shipshewana before 9 and had breakfast there. That is another story. Our waitress evidently didn't turn in my order as others were getting their food and came in after us!! I asked her about it and she waited probably another 15 min before checking. Needless to say she did not get much of a tip!! Bill ate off the buffet and was done long before I ever got my food.
We didn't purchase anything-no room to haul a lot home but enjoyed just looking at everything. So many pretty yard decorations and I have another idea to make something for the gardens from the trip so worth it. We were lucky-day was cooler-about 72 and overcast so perfect day for this.
Boyd made it back home this afternoon. He has two more fractured vertebrae, but for now the dr doesn't want to do anything. Thinking that they will heal on their own if he is careful. They got his bowels to move some and he is on prescription medicine now and orders to eat more fiber, drink more water and MOVE!
Not sure if we are going to visit another Fl friend tomorrow or not-she has not called. She is having health issues also so if not, guess we will just find something else to occupy us.

Pat - I hope Boyd is ok. I think I'm staying on top of the weeds except in the area we haven't landscaped yet. They kind of take over that area. Hopefully next Spring we'll have ore time to work on our own yard. It's probably too late now to worry about it.

NJ - Aww, you're so sweet! I like to think you're right about his reason for coming home.i'm glad Josh got to play the whole game, I'm sure he enjoyed it too. I'm not a good traveler either, I get too fidgety.

I didn't get much accomplished last night. I cleaned the living room and then planned some meals for the week. I'm heading to the store after work tonight.

Pat, your bus trip last year sounds nice, but I think I'll forego another jaunt downtown....I just cannot get over the drivers. As I mentioned, I'd far rather drive in Washington, D.C. (and have) than be even a passenger in Atlanta proper. Your 'lazy day' yesterday sounds very nice. But I'm so sorry Boyd is having problems. Of course I'll be praying for him (and Betty).
The visit to the huge flea market sounds like a lot of fun......have some fun for me. emoticon I pray you all get and stay healthy, and have a lot of fun.

Nancy, I'm glad you're having relatively mild temps and lower humidity. I can take higher temps as long as the humidity is low. That's one thing I like about Utah.
I don't blame your DH for driving 2 hr home each night last week, so he can sleep in his own bed, but I have to say, I'm sure the bigger reason for his driving home each night was to be with YOU!

Yes, I am enjoying our time down here, except for all the RAIN!!! Josh's team will only play 6 games instead of the planned 7 - too many games rained out, besides, it's rather political. So be it. Josh's team played two games today, and won both. Now, if they can win tomorrow's game (last one for his team), then they'll be at .500 for the tournament - they've lost three. Josh was catcher for the entire first game. Yea!! His coach left him in for the whole game.

DH did laundry yesterday, so we're set until we get home. I confess to looking forward to being home again. It's just the drive home (2 days!!) that I dread. Well, I have crocheting to do, and will also probably bury my nose in my Kindle. That should help take my mind off the fact that I won't be able to squirm or wiggle all those hours.

DH went with Josh and his Dad to watch other teams play tonight. I'm "home alone" and enjoying it. I'll probably fall asleep before DH gets back - the game just got started and there is a 2 yr time limit, or 7 innings, whichever comes first.

Y'all have a great Wednesday.

Nancy I think that is what I am enjoying-no weeds calling my name. Poor Vicky is trying to keep up now and she is having back issues. Told her to let them go and I will work on them when I get back!!
We have had an unplanned day today-B&B went it for her to sign the papers but Boyd was still in pain so she dropped him at the hospital and that is where he still is. Hoping that he gets out tomorrow and nothing serious-they ran tests today-x-ray and MRI. He just had back surgery a few weeks ago so praying that is still ok. Thinking he might have infection. Keep him in your prayers.
Bill & I are going to Shipshewana tomorrow to a huge flea market. We had all planned to go but now we will do it ourselves. Should be interesting. Will maybe have to do more on our own if Boyd doesn't get out of the hospital. One day at a time!!

Pat - I've even loving the mild temps we've had this summer. Today was he hottest day so far and it was only 91 or 92. The humidity has been mild too.

NJ - It sounds like you're having a good trip in spite of the crowded car. You're not whining about it, just stating facts! emoticon I'm not a good traveler and do t like to be crowded, so I understand.

Hubby is out of town again this week. He was home last week, his training sessions were only two hours away so he came home each night. It might sound like a lot of driving. But he often has to drive an hour or two to get from one session to the next. It was worth it for him to be able to sleep in his own bed! I did my normal bit of cleaning tonight and then lulled weeds. Now I'm getting ready to head off to bed.

We were in Atlanta last year on our bus tour-we went to the aquarium by Coca-Cola, visited the Olympic park across the street and ate dinner at Mary's Tea Room. It is supposedly the only one left in Atlanta and they used to have many. It was an excellent meal-if you have time and the inclination it is worth eating there. Not sure where it was located-we were on the bus!
We had a lazy day today-slept in, late breakfast with B&B, Betty & I went to town for a few items, ate leftovers from last night for lunch and then played cards this afternoon. Tonight we fixed a big salad for dinner so nothing too big. I did get in some walking but not enough-going to try to do better tomorrow.

Nancy, I'm glad you're not getting a brutal summer. I, too, wish you had more time to enjoy it. Hopefully, you'll finish all the odds and ends of fixing things up and get that duplex rented, plus your daughter's house sold - all quickly. Then maybe you'll be able to sit back and relax.

Everyone, I apologize for whining so much about DH's little, bitty car. When we lived in England, we had a (second car) Triumph Spitfire. Loved it, but could only ride in it without the kids. LOL Obviously, we didn't take trips in it besides a few down to London to the theatre.

Pat, I'd love 56 MPG, too! The Solstice has been getting just over 30 mpg on this trip. We're happy getting that much.
What wonderful weather you're describing. I hope it continues for you, and that everything goes well for your return home.

Josh's team has lost all 3 games they've played so far - a couple by just 1 or 2 points - but it's been fun watching them play. This morning's game was rained out, and we're waiting to see if they'll play this afternoon/evening.

A few days ago, DH and I drove downtown Atlanta and toured the Jimmy Carter Library. Interesting! And yesterday, we all toured the Coca-Cola museum. That was interesting and fun. At the end of the (mostly self-guided) tour we were encouraged to sample soft drinks from around the world, all bottled by Coke. We sampled several. We six were all in agreement concerning one from Italy, it's no longer produced. It was very popular over there, and I don't mean to offend anyone, but that could be the nastiest stuff I've ever tasted. Let's see: bitter, pepper-y, licorice (I don't like that).....that's the best description I can come up with. Just goes to show that what people in one country like, people in another don't. : )

NJ that is quite a road trip in a small car and if you aren't comfortable-UGH, takes all the fun out of it. We love the Prius, it is small, but it is comfortable and we seem to have plenty of room for everything we need to take. We really love the 56 MPG!
Nancy I hope next weekend will be it and you can enjoy what is left of the summer.

We arrived this afternoon about 1:45. Weather is gorgeous-about 80 for a high. It was 64 this morning when we left the motel. Looks like low to mid 80's thru Wed and then down into the 70's for a high. We are glad to have some cooler temps after out hot weather in FL.

Pat - I like traveling like you are now. That's how we used to when I was a kid. My hei and prefers to fly to get where we're going. I think you get to see more of the country when you drive. I hope your back feels better today.

NJ - We've been having a very mild summer this year. There have been only a few hot days, and those weren't super hot. I love it! I just wish we had more time to enjoy it.

We got the inside of the duplex done except a few minor items, installing door stops, things like that. The garage door is now working. They figured out what to do to fix the deck and will fix that and trim the hedge next weekend. I'm not sure how much there will be for me to do, but I'll still go. I'm sure I can do something to help.

Pat, I'm so sorry you slipped and got hurt. I hope you're already feeling much better. I also hope your weather improves greatly for the rest of your trip. How is Bill feeling? I hope he's doing well; and you, too. Have a good time, and a safe one.

We're outside Atlanta. Remember I mentioned DH insisting on driving the Solstice (itty, bitty car, no trunk)? Well, it was everything (bad) I thought it would be - cramped, necessitating substantially less luggage than usual for a long trip, etc. But I console myself by telling myself I won't do it again. DH can go alone if he wants to take that car on a another long trip.

Well, we have a revised schedule for the next day or two, due to the weather. Instead of playing two games today, Josh's team will play two on Monday. That's ok by me - the second game today was supposed to start at 9:45 PM!! Yawn! We're still planning to go to the Coca-Cola plant tomorrow - and the 5:15 game. It's been cooler than we expected - today's high was approx. the low 70's. Who-da thunk it? July in Atlanta, low 70's.

Y'all have a great weekend.

Nancy sorry you have had to spend your summer working so hard but maybe once they are done and rented you will have tenants who stay for a few years. Got my fingers crossed that the lower price will get some offers on DD's house. I know you would like to have that gone.

NJ sounds like not the best time to be at a tourney. I know about rain-we have driven in it pretty much the last 2 days.

We are now in IN. We spent our 1st nite in GA, last nite in TN and now IN. We have taken all the back roads and it has been pretty but the rain hindered doing much exploring and walking as planned. We did stop in Rome, GA and visited Berry College and toured the museum and mansion and I slipped while walking on the stone path in the gardens and landed on one knee and hurt my back. My fault for wearing sandals instead of my tennis shoes.
We will arrive in MI tomorrow and be there for the week. Not sure if I will have internet but will check in when I can.

It's too bad we can have it all our own way, Pat.....or at least that's how I'd view it if I let myself. We generally do what DH wants to do, so we lock into staying somewhere and pass those fun/interesting things to see by. emoticon

Wow! Nancy, you guys sure have been busy. I hope you've been able to finish things today as planned. Surely someone will take your daughter's house at that greatly reduced price.

We're at another of Josh's tournaments, and got thoroughly rained on today. emoticon Maybe tomorrow will be dryer.

Y'all take care. Safe traveling to Pat and Bill and whoever else may be traveling.

Sorry I haven't been here. Work had been so busy lately and I've been exhausted at night. We worked all day last Saturday and painted every room in the house with primer. They finished it last night. Our daughter's house hasn't sold yet, we've only had two people come to look at it. We reduced the price by $25,000 so hopefully that will get it moving. We bought it as a foreclosure so we'll still be ahead. Tomorrow we hope t finish the duplex. I have to paint a small bathroom, some touch up paint, and clean tomorrow. My husband, BIL and son will be working on the garage door, trimming the hedge, and securing the deck rail. Hopefully that will finish it.

I agree it would be nice to get the points and free nights but we just don't like to be locked it to being a certain place at a certain time! I guess we can't have it both ways.
I do get 3X the points on my credit card for travel so earn bonus points for the motels and that helps. I use those points to buy gift cards for the kids and grandkids at Christmas.

Pat, sometimes I'd like to fly by the seat of my pants -- we'd certainly take more time seeing things. But I confess I do like earning the points, including the extra points they run every so often. We've gotten free nights and right now we're getting the points we can use for free nights or turn in for a credit card. It's like 'found' money.
I like the quote you left on my page. What a great reminder to live TODAY.

NJ We have a Choice card but my biggest problem is we fly by the seat of our pants and don't make reservations! We do like their chain and use them. I may try to do better on this trip and if I see we are going to be close to one try to do a phone call of something to get a good rate.
Nancy sounds like the end is approaching-it is good to help each other so hopefully you can do what needs to be done this weekend and then the following weekend finish up the duplex. Have you rented out your daughter's house yet? Any bites on someone purchasing it? I guess it depends on the area-seems some areas that places sell almost as soon as they come on the market. The good homes in our community sell very fast, the ones that need a lot of work just sit and sit. Down here people are mainly snowbirds and kids that inherit don't seem to understand they need to leave the home furnished if they want it to sell quickly. Those that don't leave furniture do not sell as fast.
Bill is feeling almost back to normal today. He even walked this morning with Sonny and we went out to eat Mexican with Vicky & Sonny and another couple at lunch. His mouth is still sore but he is doing better. I am thinking we may go in next week for a check by the dentist before we head out. (Like we needed one more thing to add to my list of to-do's!)

Pat, I'll continue praying for Bill's full recovery - a sore mouth is awful to put up with. I'm glad he was doing a bit better last night.

Nancy, I know your BIL and his girlfriend appreciate all you and your DH can do to help them. What a shame that some people are so trashy that they can't even pick up after themselves (much less clean any). Haha. I understand how your neighbors must have felt about the roofers getting started so early; but I say they made a good choice. A friend told me last night that her cousin (48 yr old) was a roofer here abouts and spent 10-1/2 hrs on a roof a few weeks ago - in a lot of heat. The next day he died from heat exhaustion. You just shouldn't take chances like that!
I sure hope things work out so you and your DH can finally rest, relax and not have anything 'hanging over your head' that has to be done. You guys have worked very hard for so long.

Thank you ladies, for your support of me as I AM getting tired of baseball tournaments every weekend. We like to go to support Josh, but also to support our daughter - sometimes she's the one who has to get Josh there as her DH works some screwy hours sometimes.

Choice Hotels are a chain. They have Rodeway Inns, Quality Inns, Sleep Inns, Comfort Inns and Suites, and maybe 1 or 2 others. One of the things I really, really like is that all Comfort SUITES are SMOKE FREE!!!! Smoke, particularly cigarette smoke, sets off my asthma, and even if they 'clean' a room, if someone has been smoking in it, I know.

Y'all have a great weekend.

NJ - I'm sure the weekends of tournaments are wearing on you. I've never heard of Choice hotels. My husband likes Holiday Inn. Since he travels so much, he often earns free nights. Brother had talked to step bro and flat out told him he needs to grow up and stop relying on the government and family for handouts. I don't know if he'll ever get he message though. Time will tell.

Pat - I'm glad the doctor didn't find any problems that weren't easily fixed. I'm sure you were both tired. Sitting and waiting, plus the stress you were under can take their toll. Poor Abbie! I'm glad she didn't get out of the window, that would have been awful! I'm sorry that Bill wasn't feeling well the day after surgery, but glad he is doing better now.

Sorry I haven't been here much, work has been crazy this week. We finally got the roof replaced on our house. They showed up yesterday at 5:30 am. I'm sure my neighbors were thrilled! I understand getting an early start before it gets too hot. It really looks nice. I like the color my husband picked out. Tomorrow we are going to help my BIL on his girlfriends rental house. Her son bought a house and then joined the army. His cousin was renting for awhile, but trashed he place before he moved out. They helped us a lot when we were working on our daughter's house, so now it's our turn to help them. Then next weekend brother is going to help finish the duplex. Maybe the following weekend we can get some rest or do something fun!

Thanks NJ Bill is feeling better now-he got up about 2 and ate a bit of soup and has been up ever since and is starting to feel some better. Now to get his gums where they aren't so sore. Hopefully by next week he will be feeling up to snuff! Thinking we may need to see the dentist next week!!

Good Afternoon, Pat. I'm sorry Bill's not on top of the health weather yet. I hope the nurse was right, and that he'll SOON be feeling great.
I know what you mean about ceiling fans....we have five of them and I confess I rarely dust the guest room and treadmill room fans. Lazy, although when we have overnight guests, I do hit the guestroom fan. I'm much better about our bedroom and the family room fans - I don't like all that dust flying around - makes me sneeze. LOL

I got two new babies this week - they (like the ones I got last week) are about 3 months old. There's still 7 or 8 in foster care, and I expect to get them eventually. I love cats - whatever age, but there's something extra special about those tiny little babies. : )

Take care of yourselves, everyone.

Bill is still not feeling too great today. I talked to the nurse who called to check on him this morning and he said they went clear to the small bowel so it is not uncommon to feel sore and to keep and eye on him and if he isn't feeling better tomorrow to call the office.
I did a load of laundry and Bill did the sheets while I was walking. I cleaned the bedroom today. I thought I was dusting our ceiling fan but when I climbed up onto the bed where I could really see it well, it was still very dusty so now it is greatly improved and no dust to fall off on us as it whirls round and round! I am going to work on the family room and living room now. I am wanting to get the house cleaned up before we leave (hoping we still are going to be able to go). Then next week I will be working on last minute things and packing.

I think you're right, Pat. And yes, that's why we're staying home this weekend - that and the fact that we always have to board Darby. Poor baby. She's so good, and they DO love her back; but she's always so happy to be back home again.
You were right to guess 11:00 - Outpatient NEVER goes as fast as you think it will. I sure hope you and Bill both rest really, really thoroughly tonight.
Poor baby - I feel so bad for Abbie, being terrified of storms. Of course, some of them ARE terrifying. Good think your window was closed. I can only imagine how freaked out she would be stuck out IN the storm.
Cute, that the dove is playing with Abbie. Hopefully for the bird, it will soon go off and do its normal thing.

Everyone, have a great evening.

NJ it sounds like you are starting to get burn out on going to the games. Maybe if you limit your going you will enjoy those you do go to more. I know I am that way-things I once was avid about I will get burnt out and find that if I don't do it as much I enjoy it much more when I do. I know you are wanting to go to support Josh but it is ok if you don't go to every game.
Nancy it sounds like things have finally come to a head with step-bro. Hopefully DH will give him a date to get his "stuff" and if he doesn't then you can get it moved out anyhow. One hates to be that way but if you ever watch the judge shows, this happens all the time. People think one should be their free storage unit. Make sure you document everything, just in case!! Pics, letters, etc.
We were up fairly early and had DH to the surgery center by 8. He thought he would be out in an hour or so. I told him we would be lucky to walk out by 11! Well, it was 11:30 so I was fairly close. Dr found another area that had been bleeding but wasn't at the moment but he still cauterized it. In fact, he cauterized several areas that he though might cause a problem. I am hoping now we will have an incident free vacation. We stopped at Cracker Barrel to get him a bite to eat as he was starving and then as soon as he got home he hit the recliner and slept for almost 4 hours. He is feeling fairly good, but still rather groggy or out of it. He always is like that after he is put out. Hopefully tomorrow he will be feeling more like himself as we need to do more to get ready to go.
I have done laundry this afternoon but that is about all. I was tired too! I do not know why sitting and waiting makes one so tired but it does. Then there is the issue he didn't sleep well so I didn't either. That may be my biggest problem.
We had quite the thunderstorm right after we got home. Poor Abbie, it was thundering and evidently she was freaking out. She got up on one of our kitchen chairs that are on rollers and it rolled over where she could jump up on our counter and she had knocked over the dish soap and all my sponges, etc. I think she was trying to get out the window. Don't know what she would have done as it is about 9 ft off the ground but .....she didn't know that.
Our last baby dove just doesn't want to leave. Tore the nest off the bike but it is hanging out in the carport. Abbie has taken an interest in it. They play ring around the golf cart and when it gets tired of her trying to get close, it goes under the cart! She just stands there and stares at it.

I think I've heard of eggs in a bag, but forget what they are.....?? Yes, Pat, we did have a good time at the tournament, but weekend after weekend is beginning to wear on us.....must be getting old. Ha!
I'm sorry you'll be paying that much and not even know if you have tv or other 'goodies'. DH and I usually enjoy Choice Hotels - we get free WiFi, most have a decent breakfast (some with lots of hot things), and we often earn points that can be traded in for free stays or free credit cards (usually 'just' $50). I truly hope your accommodation turns out to be much, much better than you fear.
Taking the non-interstate roads can lead to many adventures - I hope only GOOD ones for you.
Praise the Lord that Bill's procedure today came out well. Also that he is now enjoying new teeth. I hope they don't give him ANY problems.

Nancy, I'm glad both brothers are finally fed up with step-brother, and that he's moving on. Sometimes it just take a united front of tough love to make some people to wake up to reality. I hope for the best for step-bro, but am glad he's out of your hair, will be as soon as he gets his furniture out of your house!

Josh played a local game last eve, but another game was first, and ran late, so Josh's team started over an hour late. They were tied zero to zero at the end of regulation time (7 innings), so played an 8th. Josh's team batted first and scored a run. Then the other team scored TWO. Josh's team plays again tonight - supposed to start at 8:15. We'll see.

Before the game, we had a line of severe storm(s) go through. It was fast moving, and not a wide line, but it did a lot of damage - much foliage on the road, even BRANCHES fallen, apparently lightening hit some transformers and caused fires. It was brief but messy. We were plenty safe, but the air cooled about 20 degrees due to the storm. Brrr, we weren't really prepared for that. LOL We finally got home near 12:30 AM. (yawn)

Hope that doesn't happen again tonight because we need to be up at 6:00 tomorrow to go to the shelter. It was bad enough getting up at 7 this morning so I could make my psych. appt.

Pat - I'm sorry you will be laying they much to rent a trailer. A nice hotel room probably wouldn't have been too much more. I hope it isn't too uncomfortable. I'm glad Bill is having good luck with his new teeth.

Both my husband d and his brother are fed up with step brother. Step bro called brother and was complaining the we didn't pay him yet. He still doesn't understand why I was so upset with him. Brother told him he needs to get a job and stop relying on the state. He packed most of his stuff from brothers house and went back to live with the mystery sister. I can't remember if I told you about this "sister". None of us have ever heard of her before. She might be another step or half sister in his mom's side. We don't know. It doesn't matter, as long as he isn't staying here. Now he just needs to get his furniture out of my spare room.

NJ we used to make walking tacos at the one campground we stayed at for 6 winters. They were always a big hit. We also did eggs in a bag-have you ever had them? We used to have some real good times there.
Nancy I am glad to hear DH is finally understanding what you have been saying about Step bro. You are right-he just needs to hit bottom and then MAYBE he will realize it is up to him and making excuses just isn't going to cut it.
NJ sounds like a good time at the tourney but not so great for the motel. I guess if you go to that venue again you will know better. I am wondering what we will find on our trip. I am a bit upset over what we are going to be paying to rent a trailer for the week we spend with friends-$80 nite! I am sure that doesn't come with breakfast and do not even know if we will have tv. Oh well, we won't make that mistake again. We likely could have gotten a motel room nearby and had more comforts but we will just relax and enjoy being with our friends.
We have decided to try to stay off the interstate as much as possible so it will take longer but we feel the trip will be more enjoyable and who knows what we might find along the way!
The house is now washed and I need to start washing all the windows. I hope to start that Thur as DH has to be at the surgery center by 8:15 so won't get much done tomorrow. Maybe the kitchen and bedroom windows when we get home. DH got part of the stuff put back and we plan to do the rest once it cools down a bit more. We hit 92 for our high today.
We went to get DH's new dentures this afternoon and it took the dentist about an hour to get them where they felt good. Afterwards we went to Sweet Tomato and he tried them out. She told him to start with softer foods and work his way up to something like steak. He is pleased so far.

NJ - I tend to hold grudges, but I'm trying to let it go. I just won't trust him any more and we won't be trying to help him. He needs to hit bottom and realize that he is responsible for his actions and stop relying on others for help.

God bless you, Nancy. I hope you've been able to let go of the anger......and I DO know that that is easier said than done. What I sometimes am able to remind myself is that the anger hurts me physically, and does nothing against the one I'm angry with.

Granted, I'm far from successful with that all the time, but sometimes I'm able to talk with God and ask Him to put forgiveness in my heart regarding the problem.

Yes, walking tacos are served in a bag of some kind of chips, which are slightly crushed. Add browned ground beef, often seasoned with taco sauce, lettuce, sour cream, shredded cheese. Yum. It's a limited serving, and doesn't need to be eaten 3x a day. LOL

Time for this Nancy to go to bed. emoticon

NJ - Welcome home! I bet you are glad to be back. It sounds like a good weekend though. Are walking tacos the ones served in Fritos bags? Sounds yummy, I like tacos. I was so mad at step bro my hands were shaking. That made it a little hard to paint but I did okay.

Oh NO! Lori, I'm so sorry is happened like that.....the whole scenario. Good thing the repairman wasn't there more than 30 seconds!! How awful to lose everything like that. I hope you and your family were able to eat healthfully, and that the refer was delivered Saturday so that everything is beginning to get back to normal in your house.

Pat, your community dinner sounds so good! All that fresh fruit! Mmm!!
I'm so sorry Abbie had to contend with fireworks the other night. Hopefully your neighbors aren't like ours - sometimes some of our neighbors set off fireworks both before and after the 4th. And New Years is just as bad.
Let's hear it for the ladies playing (and winning) Hand and Foot.
We had rain last Thursday eve and night. Fortunately, the worst part of a storm passed us by. Interestingly enough, the rain was supposed to stop by 3 or 4 a.m. on Friday in the Reading, PA area......where Josh's baseball tournament was scheduled. Before we even left home Fri morning, they put the first game off (twice) until 1:00. Wish we'd known that was going to be the case - we'd have slept in another hour or so!
I am so sorry your friend got nailed by the weather. Losing power is NO fun.
I know what you mean about how exhausting it gets to be when you run, run, run and don't rest as well as you should for days/nights on end.
I hope all is going well for you regarding getting the house cleaned and everything back in place. I also hope you're able to take things a bit easy before your trip. No sense in starting a vacation all exhausted!

Nancy, although it was a shame that you worked on the duplex this weekend, you know best for you and DH, and you do need to finish the duplex so you can get it rented out. God bless you. Especially since your bro-in-law is flying the same old colors. I'm glad your DH has finally gotten as irritated as you, so maybe now he will cut the ties with bro-in-law and you'll have peace in your home. I'm glad your son will help out.

Ok, you read about our leaving Friday. We watched Josh play two games Friday afternoon, then 4 more on Saturday, and two more yesterday before we had to come home to be able to get Darby. He played so many games because he played on both the 14 (and under) and 16 (and under) teams. No, he didn't catch all them.....just a few, and part of another; then played 3rd base, outfield, and first base. So his knees caught a break.
The weather was GORGEOUS! I slathered on lots of sun screen, and used the canopy attached to my lawn chair. Also, DH and I clipped a couple of small fleece blankets on the sides of the canopies to help block the sun. Worked well.
Sadly, neither team Josh played on did well - they lost several games. We left yest. afternoon as the 14U team started another game. DD called today to tell us they did win - something like 15-0.
We've been to that venue a few times before, but for some reason DH wanted to try a different motel......big mistake. It was much older/shabby, had hardly any electrical outlets in our room, we were on the 2nd floor with no elevator (oh my knees!), breakfast wasn't impressive...but we managed. But the food at the baseball complex was good. Ever have a 'walking taco'? And because we bought souvenir cups last April when we were there, we got unlimited refills for just $1. They had good iced tea. : )

Even tho' we got at a semi-reasonable hr last night, and slept in this morning, I'm still tired and trying to get caught up around here. It'll come.

I've missed y'all and am glad I'm home to be able to interact with you. }
Hugs,
Nancy

Pat - I think hubby finally gets it. He is just as irritated as I am. I'm sure our sin will help, he always does when he's available. It sounds like you've been busy as always. I'm going to work I my yard some when I get home today, I might wait u til later in the evening when it cools off. I'll see how humid it is.

Sounds like time to cut the ties! Sorry he disappointed you AGAIN. Some people just do not get it. I am sure he understood what you wanted, he just wanted paid and not do the work. Hopefully son can help and you can knock it out next week.
We have been getting ready to have the house washed tomorrow. I did some work in my gardens-got the west side trimmed-and in the park. All the roses are deadheaded again! DH has been taking things off the house. The west side is ready, the front porch is empty but the carport is #@%@!. We will have to move a lot of that out into the yard tomorrow. Do not want it sitting there all day today. Will get the house cleaned inside and out this week and then next week pack and finish up the dr appts.

Pat - Step bro showed his true colors again. He was supposed to work for us two weekends ago and never showed up. Hubby gave him the benefit of the doubt again. We went to the duplex today and I checked the trim and the bathroom that he was supposed to have painted. He hadn't touched them. I threw a fit. He told my husband oh, she's having a bad day. Hubby told him I wasn't having a bad day, I was having a bad experience with him. He said he didn't realize there was a time limit or a priority of things to do! We specifically told him what to paint and what paint to use! I don't know how he could have misunderstood. He knew I was mad. I told him he's done. We're going to call our son to have him help next weekend. Hubby needs another guy to help with the deck and finishing the far she door. All I have left is a second coat on the bathroom and cleaning. I was so mad I was shaking. I'm glad you are sleeping in and getting some rest, especially so you can enjoy your vacation.

Nancy glad you were able to get a lot of work done at the 2nd duplex. Sounds like it is about ready to rent. What a relief that will be for you. Oh my, hope B-I-L does not become a problem. Seems some folks just cannot get it together.

NJ hope the storm didn't cause too much havoc for you. We have friends who winter here in Fl but live in NY who had gone to ME to visit family and they got nailed up there! She said they lost power for 12 hours and lots of trees down and all and caused the festivities planned for Sat to be cancelled. She was looking forward to heading back to NY today.

We slept in again today. I guess it is all catching up with both of us from the past month. I am not fighting it either as I want to be well rested when we head to MI in about 1 1/2 weeks.
We are watching the race and I really need to run to the mall and get Abbie some of her treats that are on sale-just can't seem to motivate myself!!

Pat - We spent the 4th working on the duplex. Step brother finally decided to show up to help. He was supposed to come the weekend before last but didn't. I'm glad you were able to enjoy the pool. I wish we had one. The dinner sounds delicious. I love cold salads when it's hot out.

NJ - I hope the torn wasn't too bad. We've had some really beautiful weather here lately.

Lorie - I am sorry to hear about your fridge. We had trouble with ours, the repairman finally showed up after 7:00 pm. Same story, it would cost more to fix it than to replace it. He had unplugged it and plugged it back in. The next day we were going to measure the door to see how much room we had and it was working! He charged us for a short service call too. At least we didn't have to replace ours.

We made a lot of progress on the duplex this week. We left step bro there last night to finish the painting. He didn't want to drive the hour to brother's place so spent the night in the enjoy duplex. We aren't going over there today, hubby is catching up on paperwork for his real job. Hubby is afraid that step bro is going to "pad his hours" spent working since we weren't there to supervise. I told him to give him a set amount and not let him charge per hour. He still doesn't have his own place and is complaining about the job he has. I'm afraid he's going to end up quitting the job and staying with brother who lives two doors down from us. I sure hope he doesn't think he's going to be here every weekend again.

We had an awesome community dinner today at 1. The social club supplied pizza and the residents brought salads-we had lots of yummy fresh fruit-watermelon, cantaloupe, pineapple, grapes, you get the idea and several other salads to choose from-cauliflower, pasta, jello, etc. I settled for a small slice of two kinds of pizza and filled up on salad. I am still full so won't have any supper-probably not the best way to go but ......it was certainly good.

We have heard thunder this afternoon but no rain here today. Abbie isn't happy. I was hoping for some rain to keep the fireworks down for her sake.

After we got home, our friends, Vicky & Sonny came over and we played several games of Hand & Foot. Ladies won 2 out of 3!!!!

Tomorrow we are going to breakfast and then to Beall's big sale. I need new tennis shoes and DH is needing a new pair of Crocs. Trying to get ready for vacation!!

Hope everyone has a wonderful 4th of July.

I hope everyone has a wonderful 4th of July weekend! emoticon emoticon

Nancy I hope the storms aren`t too bad there, stay safe! emoticon

Sunday my refrigerator started acting weird.
Monday water was dripping from the freezer part because it was no longer cold.
We call the repairman Monday but he says he can`t come until Tuesday.
Meanwhile all of our food is being trashed because it`s defrosted or spoiled.
Tuesday we wait all day for the repairman who never shows up.
Wednesday morning the repairman calls and says he was very busy the day before but he could come right over.
Repairman comes over, opens the refrigerator and 30 SECONDS later says he can`t fix it we need to buy a new one. In the same breath he informed me that his 30 SECOND house call would be $45!
When went to Lowe`s and bought a new refrigerator but they said the earliest delivery date would be Saturday afternoon.
The family has been eating out a lot but I refuse to get caught up in the fast food cycle again.

Anyone have any ideas for healthy, filling foods that don`t need refrigeration? emoticon

Pat, I hope you don't end up with foot pain. I'm finding out how miserable that it - really cuts down on my mobility. LOL I'm glad you are generally healthy, and hope you stay that way. Now to get your DH healthy again. emoticon
Abbie is so cute with her hair done up. What a sweet dog.
I appreciate having some things leftover - like chili, beans and ham, and so on. They taste even better the second day. I'm glad you bought the extra Chinese yesterday, so you didn't have to cook lunch today.
I'm also glad that Vicky was able to help you with the gardening for the park. I'm sure that the companionship is just as sweet as having another set of hands helping with the work.
I hope your upcoming trip is lots and lots of fun.

Does anyone have good plans for the 4th (weekend)?
I want to shut down my computer and unplug it now - I can already hear the thunder of the approaching (predicted) bad storm. Talk with y'all later.

NJ that does not sound like fun. My feet need some attention but planning on putting it off till we get back in Aug. Trying to get my Humpty Dumpty DH put back together. Seems my health is always at the tail end of things Luckily I am generally healthy!!! I hope things will get better soon. No sandals, that would really kill me!

Nancy glad you have someone to do the yard at the duplex. Sounds like hiring someone is better than depending on a tenant. Are you and DH going to do something fun for the 4th?

I walked early but still very muggy. I didn't get as much done as I thought I would today but at least did some work in the park gardens-Vicky came along and together we got one bed looking better.

Abbie got her bath and now she is brushed and hair put back up. We will have her groomed just before we leave so Vicky doesn't have a lot of brushing to do. I got the laundry all gathered and DH has done 2 loads for me. I got the ironing done from the last loads as I know more is going to be coming in.

I was glad to have leftover Chinese for lunch so I didn't have to cook. Vicky & I plan to head to the pool about 2. I haven't been in ages. While I was working it just didn't work into my days and most afternoons there was thunder and I try to stay inside when it is thundering!!!

Two weeks from today we plan to head north so need to be getting ready for that but trying to keep up with yardwork everywhere too.

Pat

NJ - I've had trouble with my heel too. I never went to the doctor, just got more expensive shoes with more cushioning and support. I hope you feel better soon.

Nancy, your renting fix-up sounds much, much better than the first one. That has to be a big relief. Hopefully you'll also be able to rent out the second side quickly.
Bless his heart - I hope your DH does rest well at home, in spite of the fixing-up. I agree - down time in a hotel and down time at home are two entirely different animals. I'm glad you've found someone to take care of the yard, and for a reasonable price. One less thing for you to worry about.

Pat, I'm glad y'all got some rain, but I hope you don't get a deluge in the process. From what I heard on the news, it's moving away from you, so maybe you won't get any more from that storm.
I love Chinese - enjoy your lunch tomorrow, too. You guys got a lot done in the two hours you were gone this morning. I love saving $$ - especially on gas. I don't know your average cost of gas right now, but ours is running around $3.79 a gallon. Ugh.

I went to the dr this morning with heel pain. He said my pain is from plantar fasciitis and not the teensy, tiny heel spur I have. We're treating it with stretching, ice, and shoe inserts. Hopefully that will heal it and I can stop doing those things. But I can't wear sandals until it's all cleared up. emoticon I love wearing sandals. I CAN do my normal activities as long as I can tolerate them. Good!

Pat - we used to give one tenant a break in the rent for mowing and snow removal. We figured it would be easier to have one tenant responsible since they shared the yard. We've hired someone to take care of it now. He charges about the same as we were allowing the tens to take off rent so it works out.

Do your tenants care for the yard once they are in? Glad that one side is finished, you have the rent and deposit and the other side is not going to be nearly as much work. Are you advertising it yet? Hopefully you will have it rented before the end of the month and have some cash coming in!
After our walks today, we ran errands after breakfast. Left here about 9:15 and got back home by 11:30. I got what I needed at W-Mart, got gas there as it is 15 cents off per gallon when you use their credit card and then went to Dollar Tree and Aldis. We decided to bring home take out Chinese for lunch so I would not have to cook. For $10 we each get 2 meals so will also not have to worry about lunch tomorrow! While that was being prepared, I ran over to the bank and still had to wait almost 15 min to get our meals.
We have gotten a downpour this afternoon from one of the storm bands from Arthur. This will save me from having to water tonight.

Pat - I already feel some relief since one side is rented and we have now collected rent and the deposit. The second side isn't going to take as much work. We just have to do some touch up painting and luckily, the paint was still good! We did have to buy some paint for the kitchen cabinets and replaced a light fixture. The rest is just cleaning. I'm glad you were able to get Bill's dentures and hearing aid. I hope the outpatient surgery goes well.

NJ - My poor husband is just worn out. He has t had any down time lately. I don't count the evenings at the hotel as down time. I'm sure he doesn't relax there like he would at home.

We were at the duplex Monday and Tuesday. I washed walls and inside cabinets while hubby filled nail holes, replaced light bulbs and other misc. things. We got the spots where he had to fill covered with primer, not all that's left is to cover those places with paint, touch up painting the kitchen cabinets and some cleaning. One more day and it should be ready. We still have outside stuff to do but we can do that after the tenants have moved in. Hubby fell asleep after breakfast and I am just letting him sleep. He really needs the rest. I thought about going to the duplex myself, but it feels good to relax.

So glad y'all were able to get the hearing aide today. Nice to try somewhere new to eat, isn't it? We tried somewhere new awhile back, and while it was good, it was too expensive. : )
I hope you DO get some rain from the storm.....not too much, but some. I heard it's expected to come up the coast and maybe become a hurricane by the time it's off NC's Outer Banks.
Smart Lady to keep an eye out for sales. Yes, I have at least one extra FitBit battery, too.

Mission accomplished-picked up the hearing aide this morning and Vicky & Sonny rode along and then we checked out a little restaurant that is getting raves for it's burgers. It is inside a service station but the burgers were yummy! Expensive but good. However, doubt we will return anytime soon-it is out of the way for us to go there.
The tropical storm in the Atlantic is not bringing us any rain so far. We are clouded over but not moisture-it seems to be getting hung up along the coast. Bummer.
I did some yard work this morning before we got showers and headed out to run the errands. I had to stop at Walgreens on the way home-my Fitbit needed a new battery and today they offered 20% off for seniors so decided I best pick up a double pack before it died on me.

emoticon I had an entry all typed then it disappeared!

I with you, Nancy - much better to wait until the lawn is mowed THEN vac and sweep. I always wait on my DH to finish the outside. He mowed the front yard this a.m., but it's too hot to finish it today.
I know you are glad to have all that work at the first duplex done - hopefully the guys will all make it there in a timely fashion today. Good luck with the second duplex. I recall you saying that that side wasn't as bad as the one you've just finished. GOOD!
So glad your DH made it home safely again. Poor guy - he MUST be worn out if he needed that second nap. Better to take it at home than on the road!

Pat you are such a good friend and neighbor to share your cooking with others. I know they appreciate it, especially when they're ailing.
And your reward for being such a lovely person? More ironing LOL Seriously, some things just never go away, do they!
emoticon I'll bet it DID feel strange to not have to work. I'm glad Sharon is feeling well enough to get back to work, and I'm SURE you left things in good shape for her.
I'm glad your DH's hearing aide was repaired earlier than promised. I hope the same holds true for his dentures. : ) May I ask what outpatient surgery he needs? Or is my face red for not remembering what you said before?

I've blogged our baseball weekend....."More baseball tournaments".....so won't repeat myself here.
I feel a nap coming on myself. [yawn] I hope you all have a great afternoon.

NJ I bet you will feel a sense of relief when you finally get done at the duplexes. Hopefully you will have a nice week off with DH and get out and do some fun things too.

Nancy glad you are back and hopefully the games went better this weekend.

I felt strange this morning as I didn't have to go to work. I did go down after my walk and go over my notes with Sharon. I think things were in pretty good shape for her.
I have to take DH to get his dentures fitted this afternoon. Then he will get the final set in about 10 days. Tomorrow we have to get his hearing aide. That repair was a lot faster than they said it would be. Think after that we are appointment free for a week or so! DH also has to go for some blood work so may do that this afternoon after we get done at the dentist. He will have outpatient surgery next week.

Lorie - I hope you have an awesome weekend too!

Pat - You are such a good friend to share your meals with others.

I spent yesterday cleaning and pulling weeds. My plan was to pull weeds, mow, then come In and vacuum. It didn't make sense to vacuum then come in covered in grass clippings. I ran out of daylight so I didn't mow. I have a hard enough time seeing where I've been when it's light! I got up early today and cleaned floors and the basement. We have some decorative itemson shelves so I have to dust and clean the cobwebs from the rafters. I hate walking Dow. There and getting hit with cobwebs! Then I got groceries. Hubby arrived shortly after I did so we had lunch then took a nap. He's napping again now. He must have had a rough week, I know it was long for him. We are both. Off next week but have appointments at the duplex tomorrow. Carpet shampooer, window people and electrician. We are planning to start on the other side of the duplex too.

I made enough food it fed the 4 of us, I took meals to our friends, Bruce & Carol, who are having health issues, sent another serving of the rhubarb home with V&S and still had enough for our lunch today!
I continue to work on cleaning out my freezers and the pantry. Wonder if I will ever accomplish that goal???? Guess I will just keep feeding others emoticon
I didn't walk yesterday so I walked today instead. I usually take Sunday off so did it in reverse this time. Also did another load of laundry so now I have more ironing!!! That is just never ending.

NJ - Sometimes I can get t sleep right away, sometimes not. If I have to get up during the night it usually takes awhile t get back to sleep. Sorry that Josh isn't getting to play, that is very frustrating for the players and the parents and grand partners! My son used to play JFL and he was quite good so the coach played him all the time. He would often play both offense and defense. When he got I to high school it was adifferentsitustion. He was on the "B" team and didn't play often. Even when the had a game that was supposed to be the B teams playing they still played the starters. It's not fair at all. I hope Mark's phone call odd some good. Maybe if the other parents complain it will help.

Pat - Yes, hubby is on vacation next week. Baked spaghetti sounds delicious! I've never had rhubarb crunch, but I bet I'd like that too!

I did end up spending most of the day cleaning, but it's mostly done and it feels good to have it all done. I still have to do the floors but I may let them wait until tomorrow. I have yard work to do and it makes sense to vacuum after I come in, just in car I'm cover in grass clippings.

Thank you, Pat, for soothing this savage breast re: Josh's coach. And it is the coach, not the league. We'll just have to see about next season.
Josh started as catcher in today's game, and was at bat once, so it was better in that respect. This league is playing the boys differently than any I've every seen before; but this coach isn't doing what the league said the coaches would do. What a fink.

Mmmm, your dinner sounds great, and I know Vicky and Sonny will appreciate it. I hope you all have a good time this evening.

NJ sorry to hear that Josh is not getting much playing time. It sounds like they might look for a different team/league for next season if this is how things are going to go on this one. Too bad the coach only plays his son and other favorites. Maybe tomorrow will be better.

Nancy hope you don't have to spend the weekend cleaning. Enjoy some "ME" time. Is DH on vacation this week also?

Vicky & Sonny got home about 2:30. I have dinner cooking and they are to come over about 5 to eat. I made baked spaghetti, a jello salad, and a rhubarb crunch.

emoticon emoticon emoticon What wonderful news about Bill's hemoglobin, Pat! I know it must lift the burden of wondering/worrying about it.
I know Sharon will appreciate coming back to an organized office, even if it doesn't stay that way. Haha. I sure do hope she gets over whatever it is soon; but I know her mind must be at rest knowing that you'll step in as needed, and continue doing the great job you have done.
I often get to sleep quickly after hitting the pillow, but sometimes I don't hit the pillow in a timely fashion - I'll be reading!! But there are a few nights when I just can't seem to get to sleep - not that my mind is racing, just 'some' reason why I can't get to sleep. Generally, though, once I nod off, I'm out until I need to go to the bathroom, and even then, I usually can get right back to sleep. I am blessed, really, since some people routinely have trouble getting to sleep.

Nancy, emoticon on finally having a relatively relaxing weekend. Enjoy it! I hope what cleaning you plan to do will go quickly. Have a good time, doing what pleases you.

We're having another baseball weekend - could have been enjoyable today, except that the coach didn't put Josh in until the final inning, when there were already two outs. There are about 14 kids on the team, so everybody can't play every inning, and the coach does bench some, then let them play an inning or two, etc......except today Josh is on the do-not-let-him-play list.
Josh hasn't been getting much playing time in the first place, and his Dad finally called the coach and commented that the parents and players were promised certain things at the start of the organization and those things aren't happening. Mark made the point that it isn't because Josh in particular isn't playing much, but that they were told that rotations, etc were to be handled a certain way, and this coach isn't doing it. (and some other stuff)
This is the same coach who plays his own kid almost every inning.....enuf said.
Grandma's ticked and having trouble keeping her mouth shut. emoticon

NJ - I also try to take the medicine early enough so it has plenty of time to get out of my system.

Pat - if I were as active as you I wouldn't have trouble sleeping either! I truly admire you! Hurray for the good news about Bill. Sorry to hear sharp isn't feeling well.

My vacation has begun. My husband so t be home until Sunday this week so I have the Houston myself until then. It usually bothers me when he is gone on the weekend, but this time I am kinda looking forward to it. I can sleep as late as I want. I do have to get so e cleaning done because I didn't do it last week and haven't had time this week.

Ladies it is a rare night that I don't fall asleep within 15 min of hitting the bed! I am usually so tired it is not problem for me to go to sleep, but when it is I am up usually till 4 am or later! Thank God it isn't often!!!
We had the visit with the oncologist this morning and finally got some good news. Bill's hemoglobin is up to 11.3! It has raised from 9.2 to 11.3 in a month. Considering it was as low as 6,9 when he was in the hospital in May we have come a long way. I am thinking this means no more bleeding internally!!!
Today was my last day of work. Things went well and I have things all neatly stacked and notes on everything for Sharon and I will go in Mon and go over it all with her. She is already back but terribly sick. Went straight to Urgent Care yesterday. If she isn't better, I will cover for her Mon.

Nancy, even if I take a Benadryl (much less an actual sleep aid), I have to take it early enough that I can get a good 6 hrs rest, or I wake up 'drug-y'. Like you, I wait a couple of days of not getting to sleep for hours before I take something. What kindred spirits we are! emoticon emoticon

Pat - I'm glad you finally got the results, but sorry they were inconclusive. How frustrating. I'm also sorry they have to do more testing, your poor DH. I guess it's good that they are going to keep looking. It's good they you found a new Audible office that you like and is cheaper!

NJ - I sometimes have to take sleeping pills. I don't like to, I don't like feeling groggy the next day. I usually wait til I have two or three sleepless nights before taking them.

I think the last two nights finally caught up with me. I was so tired today at work I could have taken a nap at my desk. I came home from work and slept for two hours! When I woke up I felt almost drunk I was sleeping so hard. I'm spending the evening relaxing and plan to go to bed early.

I'm so glad you finally got Bill's test results (FINALLY!) but sorry they were inconclusive, and sorry he has to undergo additional testing. I hope it won't be too unpleasant.
emoticon that you located another Audible office, and that it's so close to one of your doctors. emoticon that the hearing aid is being fixed, for less, and that y'all will get another year of warranty.
I hope the hectic-ness of your life will settle down - oh sure, you'll be busy, but I hope it's much more manageable, with much less stress.

Nancy, I have a similar problem - getting ready for bed tends to wake ME up, too. Aggravating, isn't it! Sometimes I'll get pretty much ready for bed earlier in the evening, then find myself winding down again by actual bedtime. Sometimes a Benadryl is my friend. LOL I don't like to take actual sleep aids, although I have on occasion, and I certainly don't look down my nose on anyone if they do take them.

Am looking forward to watching Josh play in another tournament this weekend. In about a month, it'll all be over for this summer (I believe).

Big emoticon finally got DH's test results but a big emoticon because the test was inconclusive! I also gave them heck about all the confusion and now feel better. He saw the PA today because we would have had to wait much longer to see the dr! Well, now he has to have another test-like an endoscopy but it will go much further down and take more biopsies. He also has to have another blood test. Now the dr wants to rule out Crohns disease. I still think it is IBS but guess maybe after this we will know.
Since we weren't happy with the Audible office in our town, I went online and guess what, there was an office about 3 doors down from where we had to go to the gastro doc so after that visit was done, we went on down there. Liked these folks much better and the price was about $50 less so now the hearing aide is on it's way to Minneapolis to be fixed and it will have another year of warranty.
Last day tomorrow. I will be going in late as I have to take DH to the oncologist first for a blood draw. My Humpty Dumpty is slowiy being glued together again.

NJ - I was getting sleepy in my chair so I went to bed. The simple act of getting ready for bed wakes me up enough that I have to read to fall asleep. I decided to catch up here instead of reading. I think I turned off the light right after posting here. Tonight I plan to go home and do nothing but relax.

Nancy, thanks for the info on your date. I do understand about lists - I love 'em, in spite of DH laughing at me for making them. One of my DD also makes lists.
Ooooo! Let's hear it for your tenant for washing walls. That'll be a big help. Here's hoping you get another tenant for the other duplex, or even someone to come along and make an offer to buy it!
It's a stressful job, but now you are all but done - give yourself a physical and mental break, and a HUGE pat on your back. I see you were up all hours of the night working on things. I hope you were able to rest the remainder of the night. Hurray for not having to go back until Monday. Have a super weekend.

NJ - I needed to list it all. If I can see it written down so I know I won't forget anything I don't get stressed! Our anniversary is the 30th.

Pat - Yes, the cleaning was much easier since it's empty. It takes me a long time to clean my house because I dust every nic nac and move them all to dust the furniture they sit on. I don't move furniture like I used to though. I guess we all have our version of good enough! It sounds like you've accomplished a lot, with your "temporary"job. I bet Sharon appreciates it! We did have two people look at DDs house but no offers. We are putting it up for rent,we don't want to have to,keep carrying it and taking care of the yard. My husband wants to start on the other duplex next week. This one won't be nearly as much work. The tenant is planning to wash walls effort he leaves!

The duplex is done except for the kitchen counters and the hard floors. I had a breakdown today on the phone with my husband. I was trying to find a replacement globe for the light fixture in the bathroom. I needed one 8 inches and was calling around to find one. The man at Menards told me that isn't a common size. I was afraid we were going to have to replace the whole light. More work involved but now a huge expense. I was in tears because am so stressed so out this. I want to dine and perfect before he comes home. He told me to go home tonight and take a nap and then do nothing. I was going to listen, but my son doesn't answer his phone while he's at work so I just decided to go. I felt better after a few tears. I'm f
Glad I did because now it's do e and I do t have to go back until Monday

Great blog, Pat. Yes, it's always 'interesting' to come in after someone else and adjust to how they conduct business. When I first went into the Financial Operations Division, I was helping another woman - she and I had such vastly different styles it wasn't funny. I'm a everything-in-its-place person and she literally had so many piles of everything all over her desk that nobody else could find anything. Funny thing was, she always knew in exactly which stack to find a particular file. Anyway, I'm glad you were able to adjust to Sharon's way, and also glad that you're about done, since she's coming back. You certainly accomplished a lot this month, and deserve a rest, or several days of them. : )
Too bad (waaaay too bad) that the hearing aid company doesn't stand behind their product any better than that.

Nancy the good thing that is in your favor-the apartment is empty. I always find that really makes the cleaning go much faster. Sometimes I will move everything out of a room and clean the walls, floors, windows, etc and then wipe things down as I put them back. So much easier than moving and shoving it back, etc. I tend to only do that a couple times a year and anymore "good enough" is ok for me!
I hope that when you get home tonight it is done and you can relax and enjoy a few days off!! Do you have to get busy on the other unit right away? Any nibbles on DD's home yet? If it doesn't sell, will you rent it?
NJ sounds like your holiday is going to be tied up with Josh's games but I know you will enjoy it and if there are plenty of nice restaurants nearby what else do you need ? emoticon
Today was my next to last day and I am trying to get everything finished up and notes on things before Sharon returns. I am still trying to track down the lost checks but it looks like our US Postal service has done lost some of our mail and folks are going to have to reissue those checks. I cornered the mailman today and he swears he looked in the adjoining mailboxes and no mail is in them that doesn't belong. Our president called the postmaster but I don't know of anything he can do. It is either here or it isn't!
I finished up the project of delivering the water reports. Bill delivered the last to folks who are in residence and I put all the others in the mailboxes in our clubhouse. That took me over 30 min! I have been getting things organized and notes on it all for Sharon. I also did the payroll today for month end. The payroll service requires the hours be put in in advance???? Then if someone is sick they have to be adjusted on the next pay. Doesn't make sense to me but I don't do it all the time so not going to lose sleep over it. When I did payroll before, we were always a week behind in pay so that adjustments could be done before the check was issued!! If someone were to quit, you have no recourse to recover the overpayment if they don't pay it back-not likely! I also got the financial statements done for the month and distributed. All the normal day to day things are up to date so hopefully Sharon will come back and not be overwhelmed with work. Some things I am not authorized to do so she will have to take care of them but that is only 3-4 things. She & I have different work styles-she keeps things in piles and I like to take care of it and file it! That made my life interesting as I had to go thru her piles quite a bit!! I have deposited all the monies, taken care of payroll, paid all the invoices we received, shown homes, taken care of inquiries by phone, reported copier usage, sent off applications to our management company to get credit and background checks done, set up interviews, and did some special projects so feel I do still "have it". I was a bit worried at first as I had not worked in an office setting in about 13 years!!! I used to manage an office with 40 people but that was last in 2000 but guess it is like riding a bike-it comes back- emoticon
This afternoon we ran some errands for us. I had to transfer $$ to pay for our windows and we took DH's hearing aide in to be checked out. It is about 3 mo out of warranty and not working. They want $350 to fix it. Guess we will bite the bullet but sure not very good service for something that costs $3,000! His old ones were half that and still working after 5 years! We stopped at Olive Garden for soup & salad on the way home-barely made it for their lunch prices but we did it!!
Another scorching day down here and the rain has missed us so will have to go out and water the "weeds" when it cools down a little.

Nancy, that'll teach ya to list everything that needs to be done emoticon I'm so glad your son is helping out...."many hands..." and all that. Here's thinking of you as you finish up tonight.
I like a clean house, too, and will put things where they belong before going to bed - and generally try to get the actual cleaning done regularly. I mentioned my Mom - she was definitely Mrs. Clean, and boy! you'd better not try to pull the wool over her eyes. LOL

Nancy, is your 35th anniversary on Jun 30th or July 7th? Regardless, congratulations in advance.

NJ - I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to cleaning my own home. It doesn't have to be spotless, but I do tend to get carried away with cleaning - cleaning things weekly that probably don't need it they often. It's easier for me to stay on top of it that way.

Lorie - I like your quotes, thanks for sharing.

Pat - I'm sorry it's so hot there. We haven't had too many miserable days yet, not like usual. Our humidity was down last night so that helped. We've had a lot more rain than normal. We do have a three day weekend. I'm actually taking next week off. My husband will be home and it's our 35th Anniversary on Monday. I only have about two days of vacation time so I'm taking one day unpaid. We've been working so hard I decided I needed a break.

My son and I got most of the duplex finished last night. We have some touch up painting in spots we missed and a couple odds and ends to finish. The cleaning shouldn't take too long, just wiping down closet shelves, general kitchen and bath cleaning, mopping floors and running the vacuum. But now that I listed it all, it sounds like a lot! emoticon But, it will be done tonight one way or another!

Pat, imagine it has more to do with where exactly that you're going. If you're headed to eastern MO to visit family, you'll likely find it humid and maybe even hot (although not by comparison to FL). We (So. Central PA) are in the low 80's and it's been plenty warm by 8 a.m. Roll the dice and take your chances emoticon
I wish Bill good luck getting the papers all delivered tomorrow. Wouldn't want to disappoint the state. Haha
Mmmm, baked beans and brownies - I'll be right down. What else is for dinner tonight?
Yes, Josh has a tournament over the 4th weekend. We've been to that venue before, and it's quite a nice complex. Also, plenty of restaurants nearby.

Steamy and hot down south-I am so ready to head north in about 3 weeks. I certainly hope it isn't HOT up there too. All our friends keep telling us how cool it has been so keep the heat turned down!!!
I walked at 6 am and it was already 76. There was a bit of a breeze so that helped but the sweat was still running into my eyes. I am thinking I am going to have to invest in one of those cooling cloths.
After breakfast, I helped Bill to deliver the papers on our water quality to the residents. We stopped about 11 as we were both getting too hot. Even riding in the golf cart, I still had to hop out at each home to deliver them. I think this will leave him about 25 to deliver tomorrow and then that job will be done! I have to have it done before June 30 to satisfy the state.
Tonight is our monthly bonfire and I volunteered to make the baked beans so I put them on when we got in. They are simmering in the crockpot instead of baking in the oven. I even mixed up a batch of brownies to take for dessert. I am trying to use up the mixes I have before they get past the use by date. I just didn't make as many desserts this winter and I need to use these up. After this, I will only purchase things when I plan to make a dessert. Will cost me more but I won't have things I feel I have to use up either.
Nancy glad to hear you got to relax. You had quite a busy weekend. It is close and I am sure you will get it done and be ready for the new tenants. Do you get a 3 day weekend for the 4th? Will hubby be home?
NJ will Josh have a tournament over the 4th? I do not like traveling over holidays. I guess I am just getting old and cranky. It used to be a real issue when we lived in the rv. We would make sure we were settled in and not on the road on holidays.

Pat, I'm glad you and Bill were able to have lunch with Don and Lin before they were heading north. Great bargains at the Goodwill Store. Good for you!
Whew! Busy day yesterday......well, that's normal for you, I guess. : ) I'm glad you were able to get home to Abbie again before the weather got too bad. Bless her heart.

Nancy, one of my magazines (Good Housekeeping??) used to run a page on "good enough" (not the actual title). First they listed the "Good" and then the "Good Enough" for the same activity. The ones that I can recall were straightening up for unexpected company, or cleaning something. I'm more of a perfectionist than my husband, but even I don't hold a candle to what my Mother way like. LOL
I'm glad you were able to get your grocery shopping done before you 'gave out' and that you chose to take care of yourself by relaxing. You've been putting in some long, hard days on the past several weekends.

Hi Lorie. Hope you're doing well

NJ - Welcome back! It sounds like you've had a busy, but fun few days. You have every right to be proud of Josh, he sounds like a wonderful young man.

Pat - I'm glad my husband agreed that it was good enough. I understand his perfectionism, but you hate to know when to stop. We definitely will take pictures. I hope you made it home before Abbie was too scared.

I was exhausted today. All day I was I a fog. I did my grocery shopping after work and have been relaxing since I got home and put away the groceries. I'm getting cushy up on Dpark then heading to bed.

NJ sounds like a great time even if they did poorly on Sat. Glad they perked up on Sun. It sounds like Josh just might guarantee his college with a scholarship with his play. That would be emoticon
Nancy I am glad you finally said "good" is good enough. It doesn't have to be perfect. What if you get another tenant who doesn't take care of your property??? I know you want it nice but it is not where you are living so clean and fresh and you are good to go! Remember to take pics!!!
I have had a fairly busy day-walk at 6 am, to work by 8, home by 12:30. Took a few min to watch a bit of the new (DH held it for me) and read the newspaper. Then it was off to meet our friends, Don & Lin for a late lunch. They had a dr's appt. at 3:30 so we met at 2 and they will head north in the morning. They will be back in Sept-more dr appts.
We stopped by the new Goodwill store on our way home. I came home with a pr of Bermuda shorts and some Bath & Body shower jell. Had to rush as a storm blew up and we heard thunder and you know our little Abbie does not like storms!!!

Oh my, Pat. I sure hope the checks ALL show up quickly. Yum! Your soup sounds delicious; and you're such a gem to share it with others. I like home-made vegetable beef soup. We just don't eat much soup/chili in the summer.
You've been so busy this month, taking care of your property, the park's gardens, and filling in for Sharon. I gather you're not sorry for volunteering to help her, but I suspect you'll be glad when you can pass the reins back to her. emoticon
It's really hard to believe that a dr's office is so irresponsible as to not contact you with report results. I don't blame you a bit for getting Bill's records and finding another dr - no matter how good this dr may be medically, if his staff can't function any better than this, then he doesn't deserve patients (income).
emoticon It just "needs" to be a little wine. LOL DH and I enjoy a bottle (maybe once a month) with dinner. I've enjoyed wine coolers, too.
I'd love to spray a bit of weed killer (not all that close to our bushes) but DH won't let me - he's afraid it'll bleed into the bushes. Yeah, right. I'd like to see HIM spend over an hour bent in half, pulling weeds like I did this morning. emoticon

What a shame, Nancy, that you're running into problems. And a double shame that the last tenants were so dirty. I'm sorry the wall kept bubbling, but glad your (sometimes perfectionist) hubby decided to let it go. You probably could have spend a lot more time (and $$) getting it to work for you.
Your plan last Friday was good, too bad things didn't work out that way. I'm glad you decided to rest a bit instead of pushing to get the house worked on. I'm also relieved that your son and family have been helping.
While I don't normally advocate turning our backs on family, there are instances in which that's the best thing for us. Extending a helping hand is one thing, but when anyone shows themselves repeatedly to let us down or not lift a hand for themselves, then we need to back off....for our own sanity.

I missed you all these past few days, but we were at Josh's tournament, and couldn't take our computers. (My DD drove all 5 of us, as her DH had to work both days). So, here's a LONG update. The bottom line is that we had fun. : )

I THINK Josh will be playing only for the USA Elite Blue 14U team the rest of this summer. 14U is 14 yr and under; and you can ‘google’ USA Elite if you’re interested. The boys on these regional teams have to try out for the teams. They only play tournaments, a drive away from home. For example, this past weekend we were at Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.

We’re very proud of Josh, not only for his prowess on the baseball field, but also because for his 2 yrs in middle school he was on the Distinguished Honor Roll every marking period. And here you thought he was just a pretty face. LOL

So getting back to this past weekend: All 12 teams in the tourney were guaranteed 2 games on Saturday, and depending on how they did, they were ranked for Sunday. Josh’s team did poorly in their first game (it happens, but they DID make a lot of errors). The second game saw great improvement in their play, but they lost by a point. 

They didn’t play Sunday until 1:00, so we went to the beach where Josh and his younger brother dipped in the surf.

So, the Sunday 1:00 game – The boys really were with it, the final score was 15-2 (our favor). Woo-Hoo! That entitled them to play another game. This time, Josh’s team cleaned up with 17-2. Double Woo-Hoo!

Josh didn’t play much on Saturday – long story, but it involves the coach and his son who plays, and the fact that there are something like 14 boys on the team. Anyway, in the first game Sunday, Josh played 3rd base – another great position for him. Then he was catcher for the entire last game. His play (whether 3rd base or catching) is pure beauty in motion. No wonder college coaches have been keeping an eye on him for over a year.

We finally got home again around 10 p.m. (yawn)
Thank you for patiently reading this whole thing! : )

Pat - It was a little of both. They were there four years and had four kids. I don't think the wife cleaned, it was pretty dirty. The issue we ran I to was the paint not wanting to stick to the wall. It was bubbling up so my husband scraped it off. We put two coats of primer in it and it started doing it again. We decided it wasn't going to be perfect and scraped the bubbles off and painted anyway. The wall has a few flaws, but it doesn't have to be perfect. My husband is a bit of a perfectionist but let it go. I can be like that too, I think he has ribbed off on me over the years! Homemade soup and bread sound delicious!

We out in a other long day yesterday. We still have to paint the ceiling and two walls in the laundry room, cleaning, and a few odds and ends. My hubby leaves today and will be gone until Sunday afternoon. My son is going to meet me thereafter work tomorrow and hopefully finish it. If not, we will go back Wednesday. I thought about going myself tonight, but I need to get some groceries and relax a bit.

Nancy sorry you are running into some issues but that always seem to be the way it goes. Sounds like your tenants really did a number on the place. Were they in there for a long time or just "ugly" tenants? Glad son & his wife are helping you. I do hope you got the bulk of the work done today. Do your new tenants plan to move in July 1?
I used to work with a lady who she & her hubby owned a number of rental buildings and I think they worked almost every night on something but they did that so they had their weekends to play.
I got the last of the roses deadheaded this morning and weeded around the new roses I planted several weeks ago. I tried spraying the rocks near them but we still ended up with lots of weeds. I hate to get very close to the plants with weed killer. I had planned to finish up the back of our house-deadhead my roses and trim some other plants but the rain came earlier than expected today. Our sprinklers run on Sun and I had to wait for them to stop and then let it dry out some and then voila-rain! I did get a big crockpot of vegetable beef soup on so that will be supper tonight. I was a bit late deciding to make bread to go with it so think that will have to be a treat tomorrow. I had some bread flour left from my Christmas baking so decided I had best be using it up or I would have to pitch it

Pat - We didn't get it finished today, maybe tomorrow. I'm not counting on it. Paint didn't stick to one of the walls so we had to scrap it off then primer it. They wall will need two costs tomorrow. The laundry room had to have the wall patched so that needs to dry overnight. We will have to use primer on that wall and then let they dry before we can paint it. My husband said we'd have to let the primer dry. 4 hours before we can paint it. I hope he doesn't know what he's talking about! It doesn't seem like it should take long to paint what's left. He needs to run some caulk around the bathtub and repair or replace a door or two. I can do the painting while they do the could and doors. My son is coming back tomorrow. Step bro didn't show up. He was supposed to be there at 9:00. When we got home my husband had a missed call from him at 11:20. He said he is done with him. My son, his wife, and her 13 year old brother helped us today. Trimming 7 shrubs sounds like a lot of work, I bet it looks good when you're done.

Nancy I hope that you are able to get it all finished. I am sure that will be a relief. Then even better you will have some income coming in!! Will you start right in on the other unit after this??
Oh no, that does not sound good on the car. Our Odyssey used to leak Freon but we would just have it added every other year and it seemed to do ok. It does sound like they did something to the car. Hopefully DH can get them to do something!! They always do better for a man than a women and that just isn't right!!!!!
We worked on trimming our front shrubs today. We have 7 Indian Hawthorne shrubs which doesn't sound like a lot, but we have rocks under them so we put down sheets to keep the clippings out of the rock so it is a real job moving them and dumping what is trimmed off. Takes about 15 min to do one! We worked from about 8:45 till 10:30 but now it is done and should be good for 6 mo or so as we really took them down. However things grow so quickly down here it won't be long till they fill out again.
After that, we came in and wiped down with a cool cloth and then headed to the library to drop off my book and to the grocery store to pick up a head of cabbage as I plan to make vegetable beef soup tomorrow. I have a beef roast that I need to use up so going to add it to the soup.
Have some work I need to do out back tomorrow morning and also some park work so hoping I can get that done before it gets too hot!!!
Pat

Pat - We should be able to get it finished tomorrow. There are going to be four of,us working on it, maybe five. We have a plan. I'm going to wash walls in the lower level while the others paint trim and touch up on the upper level. Then we will move to the lower level to paint. There are only two rooms and a hallway on the lower level. I can do the final cleaning on the 30th.

I dropped my car off today to have it looked at for possible repairs. Last Friday I got gas and it stalled three times before I got home. We had received a letter stating the fuel tank warranty was extended because of problems with something sticking after getting gas. The air conditioner has also been leaking freon. They charged me $100 for, diagnostics. The AC was going to cost $1200 but the stalling problem was free. I talked to my husband and he said to skip the AC. He tried to add freon to it tonight and they've done something to it so it won't take the freon and it started making a funny noise! My husband is going to call the dealership and raise heck tomorrow.

Had a good day-work went well today. Just 3 more working days till I am done. I have a big project that is going to take most of one of those days so that is good. I discovered a problem today-it appears some checks are missing. I went thru the books today to see who had not paid their monthly fees and the president hadn't! Well he showed me where the bank cut the check on 5/23 but it never got to the office. I think possibly the same thing happened with some others too. I am wondering if the mail was lost OR if a substitute mailman put it in the wrong box!? Since so many people are gone if it was put in a box where no one is here, I won't know about it till they return!!! Guess next week I will call some other people to see about their checks. If they mailed them too, then we are going to have to see if we can get the mailmen to check the other boxes.
I finished my novel this afternoon. So glad as now I can drop it off at the library this weekend. I want to go to the store to get some cabbage and I am going to make a big pot of vegetable soup with some of that roast beef. I will share it with Bruce and Carol. I will also give some to Joe (the man who gave us the meat).
I plan to do yard work at home and some more in the park. I have a week to get things caught up before Vicky returns. I would hate for her to feel like she can't take a vacation and then have to come back and jump in immediately. She will have it all while we are gone for almost 3 weeks.
Still no call so next week there is going to be some hell raised at the dr's office! I think we will get his records and find another dr if this is how they are conducting business. If something is seriously wrong then this is even worse because we need to take care of it or know about it before our trip.
Nancy I sure hope you can get the duplex finished. I believe you have renters moving in soon?? Then I guess you will have to start on the other side?? Have a little fun in there!
NJ-hummmm, that sounds interesting-a little white wine while dinner cooks. I am not much for drinking wine but like an occasional wine cooler!

NJ - A glass or two of some sounds pretty good to me! Maybe Saturday night we can relax with some when we get done working.

Typical of a dr's office - they often take a long time to call with results (although mine has been quick on occasion); and when you have a 10:00 appt, so do four other people. I always, always, always take a book or knitting to do while waiting - including in the exam room. Once, when I had young children at home and I was working fulltime, I took a sack full of mending. emoticon But I got it all done!
At this point, going to the dr's office and fussing sounds like a good plan.
Hurrah! You carved out some YOU time. You're so worth it! What are you reading these days?

My mistake, Nancy. I thought you had finished the first side; but it sounds like you have a plan to get it done. I have my fingers crossed that you'll succeed in that this weekend as you hope.
Yes, DH appreciated the special veal/ham dish. It really is delicious, and besides, after I add the 1/2 C of dry white wine, I get to enjoy a bit more while that reduces. Hahaha
I hope the weather cools down some for you. How's the humidity? When we lived down South, I couldn't tell whether the heat or the humidity was worse - during the summer they both were near 100%. UGH! Don't miss that at all.

Pat, talking about getting no where when telephoning and instead going to the office......We lived in Europe a few years then moved to Puerto Rico. Our household goods were very, VERY slow in arriving, and I called at least once a week to check on them. Finally, I was fed up and took my 3 mo old baby, 4 and 7 year old children and went to the Household Goods office. I did NOT tell the two older girls to run around and play peek-a-boo around the office furniture, but that's what they did. (I didn't normally allow that). It only took another five minutes for the employees to find where our household goods were and assure me that they'd be delivered a few days later. emoticon Never underestimate child power. So go get 'em, girl! You've waited long enough for the dr's office to call you.

Nancy - We haven't quite finished the first side yet, but are hoping to this weekend. My son and the step bro are coming to help. Between the four of us we should be able to get it finished. I think step bro is going to finish what we don't get done this weekend. We have appointments for the 30th to have the carpets cleaned and the fuse box changed to breakers. I hope to have it wrapped up so I can clean the kitchen and bathrooms while waiting for the carpet guy and electrician. Your Father's Day dinner sounds delicious!

Pat - It's hard filling in for someone while they are away. Especially when you're only there part of the time and don't have the authority to do what is needed. You are great to take on this project for Sharon. It's good to know you took some time for you!

Hubby is going back to the duplex today and I think we'll be heading to our daughter's to mow when I get home. We are going to start mowing that place every other week but he has to be out of town next Saturday so it has to be done this weekend. I was going to mow ours last. Isn't but it was just too hot. Hopefully it will cool off some so I can do it Sunday. Hubby leaves Monday and will be gone until sometime Sunday. I hate that he'll be gone for the weekend, but am looking forward to a day to myself. I know I have evenings to myself, but between mowing and working on the duplex, I am looking forward to a lazy day.

Still no call from the dr's office and I am getting pretty steamed about this. It has now been over 2 weeks and no word. They keep saying they will call but they haven't. yet. I guess next week I will have to go down there and raise a stink!!!!!
Today I worked on some things here and the park gardens and this afternoon was time for ME! I walked, then breakfast, gave Abbie a bath, worked in the park gardens for over 2 hours, worked in my yard for about 30 min (got to hot to stay out there any longer). DH did the laundry for me and also tried to clean out our fountain. It had grown quite a bit of mold so he scraped that out. Once he gets it cleaned up I will add some Clorox to the water and hopefully it will keep it nice for a bit.
I had a relaxing afternoon-a nice cool shower to cool me down and then spent time reading.

Ah, Pat. Doesn't it seem that nothing is quite like it was made out to be? I know you're conscientious and dedicated to doing the very best you can. That's not a bad thing, except that you end up working really hard. Bless your heart, I know the President (and Sharon) appreciate all you're doing. It won't last much longer; and you're right, if you do this again next summer, it'll be easier because you'll have already done it once.
I hate it when a dr's office doesn't call within a reasonable time to give results, especially when it's very important.
Good luck with getting some gardening done tomorrow morning. While I hope you get the needed rain this eve, I hope it's dry enough tomorrow so you can get out there.

I got my walk in and then rushed around getting a shower and a bite to eat and making it to the office by 8. I actually thought I might get out of there early today but no such luck! Seems there is always something that needs doing. Of course, Sharon works 8 hr days and I am trying to take care of things in only 4 hours 3 days a week! She does do a lot more than I am doing but I am doing more than I thought I would be tackling. My biggest problem is I do not have the authority to talk to folks in her stead so I have to get the president and then he can verbally tell folks it is ok to speak with me! Guess if I do this again next summer, it will be a lot easier going.
Still trying to get the results of DH's test last week. Not sure when they are going to return the call. I had him rattle their cage again this afternoon! It has been 9 days so I would think they could let us know something soon! If things do not improve, we just might have to find another gastro doc. This one is good but his staff leaves a lot to be desired in the office end!
It was too hot to work in the gardens this afternoon so I plan to get some work done tomorrow morning.

Pat
