Laura - I'm sorry you are struggling now. I hope it all works out,

Sarah - I not,your time off work!

Pat - I love traveling wth my husband! I get to gknow next week too. He has a meeting so I will be staying at the hotel. I'll take my swimsuit and enjoy the pool! I'm glad you found a new blouse for church.

Today was grocery day. When I got home we dropped off the company car for,an oil change and some other work. Because it's a company car, we have to take it to a dealership. It was over $200 for an oil change, air filter, another filter and wiper blades! Sure glad we didn't have to pay for it.

Sarah hope you enjoy your vacation. Will you go anywhere or just have a stacation??

Laura sorry that life is dealing you more lemons. Have you filed for disability? If not, it might be something you need to consider. Talk to an attorney who handles disability claims-they don't charge anything unless you win.

Nancy sounds like you will be glad to be home. Nice that you found some tops on sale. It is nice you are able to go with DH on his trips.

DH & his buddies decided to go for coffee and donuts this morning and then left 1 of them home! They thought he had gone with his wife! They all felt bad. After the guys returned, we took off to go to a few thrift stores and picked up DH's hearing aides and then had a late lunch about 2. Got a few items for the park, I got a nice blouse for church and picked up one of those shoulder pads filled with rice that you can heat or freeze for DH to use when his neck hurts.

Got in my back/biceps workout and burned 400 calories. The tea I drink is to boost metabolism and get me going in the mornings. Since we have no truck next week I decided to take vacation so will get in 5 days of workouts and a total of 6 workouts since I do Legs/Abs and Abs/Legs/Cardio on the same day.

Hi everyone;
Weather is cooler today and it is raining. Got some bad news today. A guy cam with a court order again. It is about my pat due amount from Discover which I cannot pay. Now I am supposed to appear in court with pay stubs and tax returns. They did the same thing 2 years ago and then gave up after a while. I cannot pay it off I am living on my IRA now. I have nothing in savings and all my CD's are gone. It just makes me depressed to think about it.

I will be done with therapy next week. My second RFA was canceled since the right side was never tested only the left and I am still in pain. I have to see the nurse practitioner there to do something different.

My name is Laura and I live in Wisconsin. I am a Determined Desert Tortoise. I will get there one step at a time and one day at a time. Slow and steady wins the race.

Pat - It's 89 here today and the sun is shining so it feels very hot. I'm glad your breakfast was enjoyable. We just stopped and picked up do its today. Not very healthy, it delicious!

We are at the last stop now. I did some walking in the store and now waiting in the car for hubby. I have the keys so I can start it and run the air when I get too hot. At the first stop this morning there were trees so I sat outside in th shade. It was very tolerable. It's not to bad now when the breeze blows, it's just not blowing very often! We'll be home later today, it will be nice to sleep in our own beds. We found three shirts last night and they were on sale so to wasn't too bad.

I was looking at the coming month's (Aug) appointments and YIKES, DH has to see his nephrologist on Mon and was to have his bloodwork done a week ahead of time!!! That was Wed so this morning we went for his blood draw and it should be to the dr by Mon so hoping all is well. Now just hoping and praying Medicare pays for it-I am still trying to get things resolved from last Dec when the codes changed!!
We decided to wash the car when we got home before eating breakfast as the temperature was climbing fast and is was just about 8:30! DH had washed it in June when I was working and it has been so hot we have not done it since. The bugs on the front were terrible so at least we got those off. While we were doing that Sonny called to see if we wanted to go to breakfast so off we went to try a local place we had not been to in years. New owners and much better service and food.
I worked some on the budget (I am on that committee and we will meet in Sept) for the coming year. We have to hammer it out before the Oct. board meeting.
I put on a pot of ham & beans this morning and going to try some GF corn bread for DH.
Nancy sounds like it is almost as hot there as it is here. I sure would like it to give us a little break. Hope you can find some new clothes. I am working on cleaning out my closet in preparation of redoing it this fall.
Sarah do you have a store that makes the shakes and delivers them to you?

It's 76 with a high of 90 possible chance of isolated storms later today. No gym workout today as I have a couple of appointments one this morning and one this afternoon. Home scale is down a little from yesterday and down from Monday. Ordered my Herbalife Tea Concentrate and it should be in today but I won't get it from the store until tomorrow morning when a shake is brought to me on break at work.

Pat - Wow! That is hot! It's 90 here and I have no idea what the "feels like" temp is, but it's hot! The sun is shining bright and that makes a big difference too.

Today was a repeat of yesterday. Calling on stores, trying to walk and stay out of the way. I've done a bit of shopping today. My husband decided I needed some new shirts. I haven't been very successful. The Wal-marts we've been to so far don't have much variety.

It's 73 with a high of 90 and a chance of scattered storms all day. Plan for today is Legs/Abs and 15 min of treadmill sprints then Abs/Legs/Cardio for time. Started drinking the Herbalife Tea concentrate again need to order more when I get a shake this morning. Decided to just have 1 or 2 shakes a week and have them brought to the gym since I got in trouble at work I haven't had one there since.

Pat - I bet Abbie enjoyed the walk! Great deal getting the Crocs so cheap. I don't have good luck finding sales.

Ian traveling with my hubby today. It had been raining part of the day and has cooled off to 76! It feel great, but it's still a bit humid. I walked a bit in two stores we've called on. I sat in the car at one store and watched it pour. I was glad I didn't get stuck walking in the rain!

Another hot day. I actually was out walking before 7-took Abbie along. She loved it-I haven't walked her in weeks as I don't want her burning her feet on the hot pavement. I cleaned 3 small beds in the park after that and then did some more trimming here at home.
Vickie called to tell me that Crocs were on sale for buy one get one 50% off and DH's needed replaced so after a shower we were off to Bealls. We each got 2 pr - besides the 50% off on the 2nd pr, we got $10 off if it was over over $50, then over 50 folks got another 15% off and by taking their cc we got another 20% off. They practically gave them to us-ha ha!

Hi everyone I know I have been absent for a long time school has kept me on my toes. I am going under the knife next Monday for something to correct my life long problem. It is called Innerstem. I had a trial run with it that started on last Wednesday and it really worked out well. I never felt so confident in a doctor in all my life. I might have the time of the surgery moved up though since someone else is unsure about doing it. I won't call my transportation from the state until I know for sure. I don't want to call and then have to reschedule all the sudden either. I prefer to know right away. I wrote about it in a blog. My problem is commonly known as OAB. I think you all know what that stands for. I am getting it corrected with this surgery and device that is being implanted.

Pat - I got my ironing done today too. It's nice that Bill is able to test out the new hearing aids to see if they work well before you have to purchase them. I'm sure they aren't cheap. We like the rotisserie chickens at Walmart, I'm sure they are the same as Sam's.

I did a light cleaning today and am finishing laundry. We usually leave after breakfast. I have my toiletry bag ready to go so all I need to do tomorrow is throw my clothes in the suitcase. We leave our hanging clothes on hangers and hang them in the backseat. It keeps them from getting wrinkled and it's easier to grab a hanger and take it to the hotel instead of having to haul a suitcase with all of our clothes in each night.

We were up early so we could get things done before DH's appointment to get his hearing aides checked. We got our sheets into the washer before breakfast and afterwards I gave Abbie a bath. While DH sat outside with her to air dry, I got the ironing caught up.
We had to leave before 10 to make his appointment and didn't get out of it till 11:30. His hearing aides both have cracks and moisture will destroy them over time. They are 5 yrs old and he has dropped them numerous times so likely that hasn't helped. Rather then put $$ into the old ones, he has ordered new ones. They will be in later this week and he has 2 weeks to decide if they work better and we want to purchase them.
We went to Sam's Club afterwards and picked up a rotisserie chicken for our lunch. One of the greatest bargains there is in my book.

NancyJ - I hope the tie game didn't hurt Josh's team. I hope this trip to the "doctor" fixes your computer for good. Glad to know your daughter came through the surgery ok.

Pat - I'm glad your got some rain. We have a chance of rain every day this week. I thought it was going to be a bit cooler this week, but when I look today, it's the same as last week.

I get to travel with my husband this week. We leave tomorrow. We're going to Eastern Arkansas. We haven't gone that way yet so I'm looking forward to it. I'm also looking forward to the time with my husband out of the house. I keep busy when he's at work, but I like to get away too.

We have gotten some much needed rain the past 2 days-late last night (9 PM) we got a little over an inch and this evening (6 PM) we had another nice downpour but I haven't gone out to check on how much but from inside here it looks like it might be another inch.
After church, we tried a restaurant we had never been to before-The Magical Meat Boutique! It was very different-British pub fare. I settled on quiche with fresh spinach and dried tomatoes. It was crustless and the lightest and smoothest quiche I ever ate.
We played cards after we got home and boys were ruthless and beat us both games! Vickie & I looked at some bus trips so now need to decide what we want to do.

Sarah, I think we were trying to rival your temps today. It got to at least 95 with heat index making it 105, then we quit looking. : ) I sure hope the mechanic finds that repairs to your car arenít costly, and donít take long to complete. But I admit, AC/heat problems donít sound good. Wishing you good luck.

Nancy, itís a shame that all parents donít teach their kids good manners Ė including being in the swimming pool. Being in a pool with or just after babies makes me shudder Ė even pool diapers arenít much help. Even though yíall didnít get into the movie, Iím glad you were able to have fun on the trike.

Laura, Iím glad your back is somewhat better. I sure hope it doesnít get worse for your mowing.

Pat, Iím glad you have a cooling cloth. As much as you work outdoors, itís a must. With the temps/heat indices weíve been having, we just stay indoors as much as possible.

Joshís tournament results are posted online, as usual. His team has won two games and tied one (4-4). The wins were 12-1 and 11-1. But that tie hurt their chances at the championship game, I think. Thereís fierce competition in their pool of teams, with more than one team winning all three games so far and not allowing quite as many runs against them. Iím looking forward to tomorrowís game.

Got a call from his Mom this eve Ė the young girl who was coming over to their house and taking care of the dog said Buster vomited in his bed once and had the runs, too. Daisyís Mom washed the bed, but DD asked us to bring Buster over and watch him. No problem. We just have to keep reassuring Darby that sheís first in our hearts. Mine you, Darby weighs 60 pounds, and Busterís a whopping 12-15 pounds or so, but Buster intimidates Darby. Would you believe it! LOL

My computer is driving me nuts. Itís going back to the ďdrĒ who promised to add memory, which should help a lot. Seems Windows 10 needs at least 8MB memory. I have 2MB.

My "southern" DD's 17 yr old cat had been gravely ill with kidney failure. They made the decision to lay her to sleep on Tuesday, the 12th. The next morning DD had shoulder surgery. Not a good way mentally to go into surgery, in my opinion. Still Bosco (the cat) no longer had a decent quality of life, and DD didn't want to prolong her misery. DD came thru the 1-day surgery well, and is healing nicely.

Never, EVER give up. Just pick yourself up and keep going.

Laura - Be careful working in this heat. I hadn't trout about the price of rotisserie chicken. It really makes more sense to buy it already cooked!

Pat - I'm getting used to the heat. It doesn't bother me as much as h as it used to. When it first got hot is go outside and al out feel sick. Now it isn't so bad.

We attempted to see a movie today but the theatre was packed. We rode the trike so we got a bit of fun. We decided we didn't want to deal with the crowded theatre so we stopped at Freddy's for lunch. For those of you not familiar, it is similar to Steak N Shake. Not the healthiest, but it was tasty. It would be a good day to be in the pool, but it's closed today. I guess there was an incident because we were notified it was closed for a few days until the chemical is cleared. Then they posted a reminder to parents of children in diapers to be sure the use swim diapers. Ick. I hope it's cleared us soon, it's hot!

Laura hope you are able to get your yard done. I do pity the people who have to work outside as this heat is brutal. I wear my cooling cloth and it does help.
Nancy hope you and DH get to do some fun stuff this weekend.
Sarah thank you for commenting on our new flagpole. We are really happy with it-as people turn the corner, it is immediately seen. I ned to do more work in the park but just too hot so trying to do inside chores.
Everyone, do take care in this heat. We are used to it down south, doesn't mean we like it but we know to do our outside chores early or late in th day and to stay hydrated. I know some of you aren't as used to dealing with this so do take care.
I am doing laundry and housecleaning today.

Pat I loved the picture of your flagpole. I used to get the ARP magazine before. I cannot afford it now and I do not travel a lot so discounts would not do me any good. I pretty much stick to my town and the surrounding cities. One day when I remarry then i want to travel everywhere.

Sarah sorry about your car and not getting to the gym. Good thing your boss called it quits in that heat.

Nancy sorry that your chicken did not turn out. Whenever I feel an urge for rotisserie chicken I go to Jacks in Marinette. They sell it there for $3.99.

Back is a little better today after being sore for a week. I have to mow half of the back yard yet and the front tonight. It is so blooming hot here I cannot do it during the day, Have to wait till after prayer tonight. Then I am going to dye my hair again after that.

NJ - yes, there is a fee to join-I think it is $16 a yr but if you sign up for multiple years it is cheaper. I have been a member since I turned 50. A lot of the hotel chains offer a discount to members, Denny's gives you 15% on your meals, Outback offers a discount, we got the discount on AT&T to name a few. I enjoy their magazine and the news letter they send-lots of information for seniors in both.

Pat - I'm so sorry you have to be out working in that heat! It's too bad you can't get some help, or that there isn't a way to keep those darn weeds from growing. Be careful! Do you get a lot of benefit to being an AARP member? I've received the offers before but have never really looked into it. If I'm not mistaken, there is a fee to join, right?

NancyJ - The chicken wasn't as good as store bought rotisserie chicken, but it was ok. I won't mak that recipe again, if I want rotisserie chicken I'll go to Wal-mart! I really do enjoy having the pool to myself. It's fun watching the kids play though, as long as they aren't too rough. Sometimes they jump in almost on top of you. I did sleep well Wednesday night, I took ibuprofen PM. It felt nice to get a good nights rest.

Hubby came home yesterday and is workout by from home today. I'm hoping he won't work all day and maybe we can do something fun this afternoon.

It's 80 feels like 85 now but going to feel like 105 this afternoon with the high of 97. Home earlier than planned on a Friday but the truck got delayed until later this afternoon but my manager said NO we will take it tomorrow morning at 5AM instead of 3 or 4 this afternoon. No gym workout today as my car is going to get looked at tomorrow and I want to drive it as little as possible. The check engine light came on and my mechanic said it was something to do with the sensor code on the heat/air control and I needed to take it to a dealership to get serviced.

Pat--Love seeing the photo of your flag pole and also your cat.

NJ--I have to take my car to the dealership tomorrow for them to look at it my mechanic says it's something with my ac/heat controller and it's OK to drive as long as I keep an eye on the temperature gauge.

Nancy--Stay cool we are under a heat advisory til tomorrow and my manager decided to take the truck which is broke down tomorrow morning instead of this afternoon.

Laura--Thanks I too hope we get some new members before my last meeting as my TOPS membership is up in October and I'm not renewing.

Laura, doesn't it often seem like there are more things to schedule than to get them done! I'm sorry your back isn't right, and hope the pain goes away soon. UGH! Having to rack your whole yard; but I agree - being hit with flying (anything) wouldn't be fun.

Sarah, I can see weighing yourself every day because of your using that info in machines to make calorie burning more accurate. More power to ya, girl! I hope your car problem is nothing serious.

Pat, thank you for the pictures. Love the flag pole so you can fly the US flag. It does my heart good to see it waving. When we lived in Spain, we couldn't fly the flag on base (it is Spanish) but they had a 'movie' of the flag waving that was shown during the National Anthem before the movie we'd gone to see. The Spanish commander did allow the US flag to be displayed on houses on July 4th.
LOVE the cat. emoticon
I sure hate it for you that it's so hot there now. Bless your heart for getting out there and working in the gardens anyway.

Nancy, there's nothing like the taste of chicken from the rotisserie. :) But chicken casserole and chicken salad will be delicious.
It sure sounds nice to have the pool to yourself.
I hope you start sleeping/resting better real soon.

I'm having computer problems - guess it goes back to the "dr"
Went to my ortho dr yesterday. Knee replacement surgery scheduled for mid-Oct after the conference I'm going to. 3 month recovery, ugh.

Never, EVER give up. Just pick yourself up and keep going.

I got out early this morning and cleaned one bed and hauled away a bucket of "weeds" and trimmings. Even before 8:30 I was still dripping wet when I got back home.
This afternoon we went to AT&T and signed up to get the 10% discount they will give you with your AARP card. So, if anyone is an AARP member and uses AT&T for their cell service, be sure to sign up for your discount.

It's 79 with a high of 95 and gonna feel like between 105 and 110. No planned exercise for today since I took my car to get serviced as the check engine light came on yesterday morning. Work noon-6PM then it's too late to workout and not enough time before then even if I did have my car. Scale up a little today so gonna be careful of my snacking and sodium.

Laura - Sorry you're having back issues. Be careful raking.

Sarah - Sounds like we're having similar weather.

Pat - Thanks for sharing the pictures, they look nice. Please be careful working in that heat.

I finished cleaning today, all that's left are the floors. I went for a swim late this afternoon and had the pool to myself for a while. It started getting crowded so I came home and made a bbq chicken quesadilla for dinner. It was tasty! I haven't been sleeping well so I'm tired tonight.

This is our new flagpole. I love being able to look out the window and see it waving in the wind.

This is the cat with the bird on the binoculars I painted (the binoculars were a dull gray). We put it out in the park today.

Vickie & I worked a couple of hours weeding, putting things out we had gotten ready for the park and pruning some things. Sure got hot and by noon we were ready to call it a day.

It's 78 with a high of 92 but gonna feel like 105 for today. Today's plan is Legs/Abs and 15 min of treadmill sprints followed by Abs/Legs/Cardio for time using the stop watch feature on the cross fit box clock. Home scale up a little from yesterday but still down from Monday so will watch my snacking today and should be fine for weigh in tomorrow morning. I weigh daily cause I put my current weight into the treadmill and also my FT4 heart rate monitor to get an accurate calorie burn.

Hi all;
Sarah you make me look bad burning so many calories. You are an all star! Glad to hear you got a new meeting place. maybe you can convince the nurses or nurses aides to join you.

Pat good thing you stayed out of the water. It was hot here today. Too bad you cannot get more people to help you out.

Nancy I am past due on my teeth cleaning. I need to get my eyes checked first. Having a little trouble reading lately. Tomorrow another pool session. Back is hurting tonight and Jenny went to bed in pain too.
I have to rake the back yard before I can mow since the guard is off the lawn mower. I do not want to be hit by flying acorns!

My name is Laura and I live in Wisconsin. I am a Determined Desert Tortoise. I will get there one step at a time and one day at a time. Slow and steady wins the race.

Sarah - I hope your new meeting place works out for you.

Pat - I don't blame you for not swimming when you can hear thunder. I wouldn't either. 91 doesn't see, like much of a cool down, but I'm glad you got some relief.

NancyJ - Our pool has the 30 minute rule for thunder too. You can't swim until 30 mi it d after the last thunder. I'm glad Josh's coach didn't yell at the team for his mistake.

Today was more productive than yesterday. I got half house cleaned and am finishing laundry now. I made a chicken in the crockpot. It was supposed to be like rotisserie chicken, but it didn't turn out quite as good. It was ok, but it did t have the flavor of the rotisserie chicken. I will make the rest of it into chicken salad and make a chicken casserole.

Pat, I'm so glad you are smart when you hear thunder and void the pool. Too bad it's been so much thunder and not much rain. Too many people don't take cover when they hear thunder - do they think they're immune?! When Josh plays ball, they pull the boys off the field for a minimum of 30 minutes upon hearing thunder.

I really hate it for you that nobody else in the park will volunteer to help out with the gardens, even just one day a week. You get so much done anyway, even as it gets hotter. Bless your heart. So, do you and Vickie think you're painting the Golden Gate Bridge - starting over once you get to the end? emoticon

Is your flag pole all ship-shape now? I hope so. I do like seeing our flag flying from a pole in someone's yard. emoticon

Don't you love the feel after the dentist's hygienist cleans your teeth? I hate to eat afterwards - even a few hours later. LOL

Wow, Sarah. You sure deliberately burn a lot of calories each day. And in that heat?! Ugh. Congrats on the weight loss - you sure work hard for it. We're due temps in the mid-90's on the weekend, with heat index around 110 degrees. That's really high for us.

I'm happy for you (and your group) that you were able to find a place before the "old" one closed. It would be really nice to have some "new blood" joining you. Hoping the DH of the lady where you used to meet has successful knee surgery.

Nancy, when we lived in England, someone before me had trained a Philodendron to grow to the ceiling (it was a two-story room) and all the way around the room. I managed to not kill it; but DH had been given one at work and he brought it home when it needed to be on life-support. Yes, I killed it. Hahahaha! I've repotted it several times, but manage to break off bits every time I do. I used to try to get the bits to root, to no avail. So I figure that keeping this much alive is quite an accomplishment.

Woo-Hoo! It's always a great thing when the company pays for the trip you want to take anyway. I hope all goes well for the wedding. It's truly wonderful that you'll be able to see your kids.

I'm glad you've met someone else. Being alone sometimes is great, but being lonely never is.

Yest. we took Josh to a ball field for a game. Three (cars) of us showed up, so one of the boys called the coach.....he had moved the game to their home field but not told everyone. Duh. Fortuntely, 1-there were three of them, 2-they still got to the correct field well before the game, and 3-the coach didn't chew them out for HIS mistake. Oh, Josh's team won 15-8. The other team's coach whined and fussed and kept coming out on the field when things didn't go his way. It's a wonder the ump didn't throw him out of the game.

I see my ortho dr tomorrow. I did ask DH to go in with me, as I expect we'll need to discuss surgery date and DH and I will need to talk about that. I almost don't want him there. sigh. He can be such a booger!

We're passing on this weekend's ball tournament. We really don't want to put Darby in Pet Meadows a lot, and besides, this Sunday is our turn to stay and count offering after church service. We'll make another tournament later.

Good to read how you all are and what you're up to.

Sarah glad you were able to find another meeting place - I am sure you will like it if the nurses join in-the more the merrier.
Hope you are staying hydrated.

Nancy great you were able to get in a swim-we have been having thunderstorms pretty much every afternoon and even though we might not get the rain, if you can hear thunder it isn't safe to be out! I don't believe in taking chances.

Our rain moved in earlier today-arrived about noon. Didn't last long but heard thunder most of the afternoon as the storms moved across the state - no swimming today. The bonus was it kept us a bit cooler-high of only 91 today.

I had to have my teeth cleaned this morning but got several things on my to-do list done before I left. This afternoon was spent taking care of things on-line.

It's 79 with a high of 93 but gonna feel like 104 today. Plan for today is Chest/Shoulders/Triceps and 15 min of treadmill sprints. I lost 0.4# at weigh in last night. We voted to move to a new location and hope to get some new members. We were meeting in a member's building but her hubby is getting ready in the next few months for knee surgery and she didn't want the commitment of opening up every week so we are moving to the local nursing home and some of the staff are excited and might come join us. We moved our stuff out of the building and will move into the nursing home meeting room next week.

Sarah - Congrats on your loss. I admire you for being able to workout after work. I have to do mine before I do anything else or I don't do it.

Pat - I do miss my kids! I'm glad you got your flagpole installed. Someone was telling me today that this is a mild summer for Arkansas! I guess I haven't seen the worst of it.

I didn't accomplish much today. I did my workout and puttered a little around the house. My husband's flight was delayed so he was texting with me. I went swimming this afternoon. Had the pool to myself for Hal hour and then a lady and her twin daughters joined me. It was nice to have someone else to talk to, I guess the pool is the place to meet people.

Nancy so happy you will get to see your kids on your visit back to IL. I know you miss them so in addition to the shower you get that added bonus and DH's company gets to pay for it as he can incorporate work into the trip.
We finally got our flag pole installed this morning. Even working in the morning, it was hot work and we had someone else dig the hole. Not sure we have the lines working correctly so will have to work on that. Do not want to mess with it too much right now till the concrete gets good and hard.

Pat - That's how it was at our last house! I'd make my way around the house and then it was time to start again. That's one thing I don't miss about that house, the flowers were beautiful, but so much work. I have some plants in a small bed in front of the house, along part of one side of the house and along the fence row. It doesn't take nearly as long to take care of.

We spent the weekend relaxing. Hubby left a little while ago and will return on Thursday. Next week I get to go with him. He has to visit eastern Arkansas and I'm anxious to go because we haven't traveled that way yet. In August we'll be heading back to Illinois. Our niece is having a bridal shower so he is planning to visit stores along the way and in that area so his company can pay for our gas and hotels. I'm excited to see our kids again. Our daughter is in th wedding so she is coming back for the shower too. I haven't seen her sinc Christmas and my son since the end of May. I'm pretty excited to see them!

It's 79 with a high of 93 but gonna feel like it's in the 100's this afternoon. Looks like I'll get in 5 days of at least 400 or more calories burned plus a fun add on workout tomorrow. Scale the same again so I should be OK for weigh in tomorrow morning and evening.

What a deal you got Nancy-new suit & cover-up and on sale emoticon

NJ how nice you found a dress that you love as you were leaving W-Mart. It is great to find something unexpectedly.

It is still so horribly hot here that one does not want to go outside any more than you have to. I did clean one bed this morning and hauled off another golf cart load. I think we have pretty much gotten all the beds done so now I guess it is time to start all over again!!!

NancyJ - I have a philodendron too. I got it from MIL when FILmpassed. It was in one pot and it's now in three! I have clipped part of it and the starters are taking root now. Min should be able to,plant them this coming week. I love that you can't kill them!

Hi Sarah. Feeling like the upper 90s is still hot, but a bit better than in the 100s. :) I hope you can find some cool places to be. Congratulations on being down a bit on the weight-ins.

Nancy, Isn't it great to be spoiled now and then? emoticon And getting it all on sale plus a coupon - you made out like a bandit.

How nice that DH came home so you two could spend time together.

I just got back from getting my hair trimmed - it was definitely unruly and looks better now. Then I dropped over to Wal-Mart to run a few errands. Couldn't find the toothbrush kits (had a cover for the bristles) that I always include in the homeless shelter bags, so will wait a time and go back.

A few weeks ago I bought replacement nose pieces for one of DH's sunglasses. He fussed about them since he didn't think they'd fit - didn't open the package. So I took them back today and was told that if I would remove a small piece of metal the nose piece would fit. The optical shop lady didn't want to do it as she said in doing so, an integral part of the glasses might break off and she didn't want to do that. When I brought it all home again to DH, he was fussy because he'd wanted her to do it. Far as I'm concerned, it's now 100% his problem.

I picked up some potting soil to add to a plant I have - it had been part of a planter I brought home from my grandson's funeral 16-1/2 years ago. Since it's still alive (in spite of my black thumbs) you know it has to be a Philodendron. Haha

Walking to the checkout stand, I almost passed a dress like I wear while 'lounging' at home. No waistband, short, short sleeves. It's just what this 'doctor' ordered. I had one other already, so am delighted to find another. Then I hightailed it out of the store before I bought anything else. LOL

Never, EVER give up. Just pick yourself up and keep going.

NancyJ - Our living room tv is mounted to a stand. We had it sitting on the stand, but hubby bought a sound bar speaker that sits on the shelf. It was in front of the tv until we mounted it. The tv in my exercise room is mounted to the wall. It's nic having it higher in there because I watch while I'm on the elliptical. I'm sorry to hear about your daughter. It's hard when they are hurting and so far away.

Pat - Poor Abbie! I'm glad she's not still mad.

We had a rainy morning yesterday but then the sun came out and it was warm again. I think I'm getting used to the higher temps here. I went grocery shopping yesterday and ask was finishing up putting them away hubby game home for the day. After lunch we went shopping. I needed some new socks and had a $10 reward coupon from Penney's. I ended up getting a new swimsuit, a coverup for the suit, and new shorts along with the socks! We got everything on sale. I felt so spoiled!

It's 70 with a high of 89 but gonna feel like the mid to upper 90's today. Chance of rain today but just a slight one. Not sure of the workout plan for next week yet but should be OK for weigh in on Monday as I'm still down from both weigh in's. Scale was the same this morning as yesterday so need to be careful of sodium and sweets this weekend.

{Giggle} Aren't our furbabies funny when they know something is different about themselves?! We once had a cat whose paw was shaved so they could draw blood. When we got home, He kept that paw tucked under himself until the fur grew out.

How great that you were able to get things for the park at thrift stores today. I'll be they will look great when you are able to get them installed.

Yes, I had a good time at the tournament. The other catcher didn't make it the first day, so Josh got to catch both games. Then, they pretty much each caught part of the remaining games (one caught 3 or 4 innings, then the other finished the game) until the last one on Wednesday. Seemed strange to us, first Grant caught an inning, then Josh caught the second one, then Grant and so on.

I'm trying blog our time gone, and Coach Denise is trying to help me figure out why it won't "take". I'd googled HTML to find out what it is, but hoped in vain for examples as I most assuredly didn't understand what I was reading!

NJ hope you had a good time at the tournament. I know how much you enjoy watching Josh play so hope he got lots of playing time.
Sorry to hear about DD's furbaby. Hardest thing we do is that last act for our babies.
Glad to hear the surgery on DD was not as invasive as feared and she is doing good.

Today Abbie went to the groomer and we did a drastic cut-took her topknot off! She was a bit peeved when we picked her up but seems ok with it now.
We did a couple of thrift stores and hit gold finding things for the park today.

Hi Ladies,

DH and I have been in GA watching Josh in a baseball tournament. I want to blog it, but keep getting a message I don't understand, so have "put it out there" to find out what's up.

I understand why you weight daily, Sarah, and hope it continues to be helpful. Keep up the good attitude about losing those bits of pounds....every little bit goes towards bigger amounts.
You've mentioned your job before - what is it you do?
How does your home scale compare to your weigh-in scale? Pretty close?

Yuk! Laura, I, too hate it when people do not pick up their dog's "do". We have a little thing on Darby's leash that holds bags for 'do' - which helps us.
Not on the same plane, but I am reminded of when I worked and people didn't cover their food in the microwave or at least clean up afterwards. Many's the time I cleaned up after others. Couldn't stand the thought of using the micro dirty.
Good luck with the furnace filter the next time it needs to be cleaned. It sounds like a real problem to do.
God knows what is best for us, even when we don't understand why things don't go like we want. I'm reminding myself of this, as things keep piling on me, too, and I keep asking God to take away this problem or that, or at least to make them easier to bear.

Great sale, Pat. Glad it was air conditioned for you.
You and Vickie were so nice to help out Bob and Ellie so they could leave early. I know they are relieved to know their home is taken care of.
Y'all getting slap happy and laughing so much is so good for your hearts and general health. Keep it up.
Wishing you well in getting to the pool and exercising regularly. I'm sure it feels good, and I know the kind of resistance the water gives is good for you.
Congratulations on the #1 win in trivia. Celebrate, celebrate, celebrate. I know doing poorly can make one feel less-than-bright.
I'm glad you're not overdoing it working outside. I know you must also be keeping a water bottle nearby. DH has a cooling towel, too, and generally uses it when he mows. It does make a difference. You wouldn't be able to be happy if you were like others - not weeding, etc. It would bug you something fierce. Know that people do notice and appreciate it, even when not saying anything to you.
Every time we go thru St. L I think of you rooting for the Cards. :) Loyal fans moving away and remaining loyal is a good thing.
We get May flies up here, and this summer they are bad. In the past, they've even closed down one of the bridges due to not being able to see well enough to be safe driving over it!
I really need to suggest to DH that we get the house power washed. He has made a comment or two this summer that it needs to be done. Of course, if I suggest it, he may decide to not do it. Why are some people so contrary?!

Nancy, have y'all mounted the tv on the wall yet? Ours is on a stand, but when we eventually move, we may mount it on the wall. Enjoy that new grill.
I think it's neat that you can look out and see if the pool is crowded, all without going to it just to discover that it is too crowded.
Wow! the baseball situation sounds great! A/C and snacks while you enjoy the game. You go, girl!

It was dreadfully hot in GA while we were there, and came home to even more heat. The car said 100 degrees last eve. At least the humidity was way up there, too. Don't know what today will bring - hesitant to look it up.

My southern DD laid her 'baby' (17 yr old kitty) to rest on Tuesday. Bosco's quality of life just went down hill too much. I still tear up, as not only is my DD sad, but I am too - Bosco was such a sweet kitty.

Then Wednesday DD had shoulder surgery - it was good - minor instead of more invasive and she came home same day. I texted a ton with her hubby on Wednesday, keeping an eye on how she was doing.

Well, ladies, it's noon and I'm still in my nightgown! Guess I'd better get in the shower and some street clothes. :)

NJ

Never, EVER give up. Just pick yourself up and keep going.

It's 71 with a high of 84 not sure but think that it will feel like it's in the 100's again today. Plan for today is Back/Biceps and 15 min of treadmill sprints followed by Abs/Legs/Cardio. Home scale is up 0.2# from yesterday but should still be OK for weigh in's on Monday.

Pat -'It probably is Hoyt up north, maybe a little less humid. We got a break yesterday. A storm blew threw and dropped the temps. My phone said it was still in the 80's, but it felt cool. I wasn't able to enjoy, the pool yesterday, I use a pool noodle for floating and keep my legs moving the whole time. If there aren't a lot of people I try to swim a few laps too.

I spent yesterday planning meals for,the next two weeks. I will be shopping as soon as the rain lets up. We didn't sleep well last night so I'm expecting today will be a lazy day. Ugh. The weatherman just said it's supposed to hit 100 next week.

Sarah sounds like even though you aren't hitting the high temps it still feels like it. I guess we have at least 3 more months of this but some areas will cool off in another 6-8 wks. We keep kicking around the idea of heading north but it seems to be hot up there also!
Nancy sounds like fun getting to go to a minor league game and if you get to be in a/c then that wouldn't be hard to take at all. I used to love watching the Cards play in STL. I would get tickets 2-3 times a yr from work and DH would get them sometimes too so we got to go a few times a year. We still root for them - just a Cardinal fan in a Florida world!!!
Vickie & I finished up the front this morning and I cleaned the small bed in front of the swimming pool and put out a new Ark-we have 3 different Arks in some shape or form in the 2 beds down there. One of the wooden ones is falling apart so going to have to find something else to go there. We thought that was a cute theme for the area since the lake and pool are there.
I washed the front of our house when I got home. The blind mosquitoes had made a huge mess so I sprayed it all down with outdoor bleach and let it set a few minutes and then rinsed it all off. It took doing it twice to get rid of the stains but the siding looks great again. I was afraid we were going to have to get it power washed again but think I put that off for now. BUT I have to do the west side of the house and back now and some of it I can't reach unless I get on a ladder and I try to avoid that these days. Since I am our only driver, I do not need to take a chance of breaking something!
Vickie & I spent a couple of hours at the pool-AHHH, felt so good and got a good workout-I use my water weights and never stop moving.

It's 77 with a high of 87 and gonna feel like it's in the 100's today. We do have a chance of rain later today. Since I did a double workout I decided to change it up a bit today and do Thursday Cardio instead of Back/Biceps and will lift tomorrow instead of Cardio. I didn't think it was a good idea to work arms 2 days in a row and my trainer agrees with me so I'm doing the usual Cardio machines then I have another workout to do that was an add on this month.

Laura - I'm sorry you suffer from shoulder pain. It must be frustrating to not be able to do things you used to do.

Sarah - You are doing great with your exercise!

Pat - I hope you get some relief from the heat soon. It's not here again, but only 89. To sure what the "feel like" temp is. Sorry you were t able to swim. I hope the rain (if it does rain) cools things off,

Today was my husband's full day of training. I spent the day cleaning the entire house. I usually split it up, but it's nice to have it all done. We are going to a local minor league ball game tonight. His company has a suite so it will be air conditioned. There should be free food of some kind too. It will be nice to get out and do something. I just hope he isn't too tired to enjoy it.

Nancy I do wish we would cool down a little bit-we have been over 95 for 10 days now-97 today and with the heat index we are getting close to 110! I know I have to get out early to work outside or forget it for sure.
Today I took a day off-needed to run errands so went to Walgreens and Wal-Mart and was home a little after 9. We had a girl's day out then. Vickie had a dental appointment at 9 so when she got home, I picked her up and we picked up Barb and hit 4 thrift stores and had lunch. We found several items for the park's gardens and I got a nice dress for church. I was so tired when we got home that I took a 90 min. nap! V & I were going to go to the pool but it was and still is thundering so we decided that wasn't a smart move. Will go earlier tomorrow!

It's 78 with a high of 92 for today. Plan is since the rain didn't clear quick enough yesterday I'll do Chest/Shoulders/Triceps and 15 min of treadmill sprints then Legs/Abs and 15 more minutes of treadmill sprints. Work 10:45AM-2PM today then will get in the gym for my workout. Off tomorrow and Friday so will get in the gym earlier than when I have to work day shift.

Sarah good job losing that pound! You sure are dedicated I cannot do overhead triceps because of my shoulder. It makes me depressed because so many of the things I once was able to do I cannot anymore.I cannot do down dogs, push-ups on the floor or even the wall is hard. I used to love to do yoga but now I have a hard time getting up from the floor and cannot do some of the stuff anymore. My friend believes in healing but God does not always heal everyone. He has not healed Jenny of everything.

Pat take it easy in that heat. You are a hard worker that's for sure.

Pat - emoticon emoticon Winning makes it even more fun! I'm sorry you're still having extreme heat and that others in the park won't get out and help you. It's actually cooled off here some. I went out today and there's a nice breeze.

I'm going to work meal plans today and spend the next two days cleaning. I hope it warms up a little so I can go swimming after I get done. It's 80 here, but with the breeze blowing I'm afraid it would be cold when I got out of the pool.

We WON lost night at Trivia!!! First time we have taken 1st! Feels good to not be a "dummy".

I was out working in the park gardens by 7 am. I am making some progress but it is slow-the extreme heat means I quit by 9 am. I filled 2 big buckets and trimmed 3 palms and the night blooming jasmine and that made 2 huge piles for our maint. men to pick up. Sure looks better now. I wish I could get more like others and just ignore it when things look bad. Those weeds just call to me-Pull me, Pull me!!!

DH & Sonny fixed the door switch on our dryer today. Seems it is always something that needs attention. Guess it will live to dry clothes for another day or 2.

Laura - We recently moved and there's a community pool right across the street! It's nice because I can look out the window to see how crowded it is before I walk over. Pizza is one of my favorite foods.

Sarah - Congrats on your loss!

I've had small gains the last two weeks. I tend to stop tracking on weekends and it shows on my scale. I need to do better at tracking all the time. Yesterday was s good day. We wanted a snack last night and had fruit. I need to start doing that more often, it would benefit both of us.

It's 78 with a high of 91 and a chance of rain this morning. Plan is Chest/Shoulders/Triceps and 15 min of treadmill sprints providing that the rain holds off after 9AM. I lost 1# over 2 weeks at weigh in last night. Now on to another week and a bigger loss next weigh in.

Nancy I cannot wait to get into the pool again this week although my back and leg are killing me yet. We had Digiornio's pizza last week. On sale at Walgreens for $1.99 each. We are making Hawaiian pizza from Sparks and chocolate cinnamon bread pudding too.

Weather was nice in the morning then got warmer later on.

\Pat glad you had fun I love playing Skipboo with the ladies at the meal site when I go there. Now I got my daughter to play it too.

We did not get the filter back in until 1130 or later last night. What a pain in the butt it was!

The heat seems to be bothering pretty much all of us. I got up very early to work in the park gardens and got the one I started the other day finished up and I did the round bed in front of our clubhouse and that took nearly 2 hours. When I got home I trimmed our ornamental sweet potato as it was taking over the area where I have it. I also deadheaded my roses. I enjoyed the cooling towel-it really did help me from getting overheated.
We are going to trivia tonight. Something to break up our week.

Pat - We did have a good weekend! I agree that people who work in this heat deserve a big hand. I'm sure the humidity is much worse where you are. Donuts are my weakness too. It sounds like you had a good time playing cards. We used to have my BIL and his girlfriend or my SIL and her husband over to play. I miss that.

Laura - I sorry your tummy was upset after eating lunch.

Sarah - I think it would be hard not always working the same schedule. I was always fortunate to have a set schedule every week.

NancyJ - I'm glad you have your grandson around to help out with chores, especially with your knee being sore.

Saturday we had some errands to run and did some more exploring gwhile we were out. We stopped at a new pizza place that we've been waiting ting to try. It was good, but we have a better one that is closer to home, we picked up s new mounting bracket for the tv. It's been sitting I. The tv stand, but my husband wanted it up a little higher. We got they out together when we got home. Sunday we decided to go looking for something to put on a shelf in our living room and somethings different to put in yet bottom of the tv stand. We ended up getting a new grill and spent the afternoon putting that together. I'm hoping to have a chance to hit the pool today. I really enjoy having that right across the street!

Sarah you have more energy than I do always getting those workouts in even in the heat. My daughter cannot weigh every day cause it would only aggravate her eating disorder. She is a compulsive emotional eater and struggles a lot.

Pat glad you got into the pool. I would have picked up the poop if I had a bag with at the time which I did not. You are so lucky finding those bargains too.

My feet and back hurt from trying to help my daughter clean and put the filter back into out furnace. UGH! It is fiberglass too.

It's 74 with a high of 92 and not sure of the heat index today but probably in the lower 100's. Plan for this week is 5 days of 400 calories or more burned workouts. Scale is down this morning so feel good about weigh in tomorrow just need to watch my sodium and sweets today.

I weigh daily now as a habit and to put the correct weight into the cardio machines at the gym and my heart rate monitor I bought for my workouts.

Laura we have an area we call doggy park and even here in our small community there are folks who do not pick up and it is aggravating! We pick it up when we see it as I don't want to step in it. One should not have to worry about that if everyone was responsible for their pets!

Vickie & I went to a small community sale in our community building in the city park this morning. Was glad the building was air conditioned. I got a pair of shorts for $1 and some books for our great granddaughters for 25 cents each and 1 was 50 cents. Now I have to decide if I want to send them or hope we get up there to see them!
She & I cleaned out Bob & Ellie's refrigerator, turned off their hot water heater and did a few other things for them as they left early this morning. They will be back early in Oct. They have lots to do when they get back to MO.
This afternoon we played cards with our friends and the guys beat us 2 out of 3 so they were happy. It was time they had a good day as we have been winning most of the time. We were all so slap happy (probably from the heat) we were all making stupid mistakes. At least it kept us all laughing. By the time everyone went home it was after 5 so we fixed a bite to eat and then went out to water everything.

NJ I don't always drink enough water either.

Nancy donuts are my daughter's down fall. Ice cream or gelato is mine.

Sarah I weigh only once a week. Weather here is nice only 74 today.

I got 40 in with the dog this morning. It was nice and cool then. We walked across to the little park with benches. Some people with dog's do not pick up the dog poop. It was all over the grass there. I mowed part of the lawn today too.

Nancy, it sounds like you have figured out a plan that will work well for you. I'm glad you have a swimming pool to use - sure makes those hot days more bearable, I know. It's nice that you were able to get out early enough to work on the weeds and avoid the worst of the heat of the day, I need to get my grandson back over to pull our weeds. I'm still not to squat down (kneel, etc) because of my knee.

I'm glad your DH made it home safely; and I'll bet he enjoyed the lasagna. Yum! I'm sorry you got sunburned, but glad you remembered about the sun reflecting off water. Good for you for lathering up with sunscreen.

Sarah, I'm with Nancy....weighing everyday discouraged me, but I DO weight often - perhaps more often than I should, all things considered. It's nice that you've found it works well for you.

I realized yesterday afternoon that I've not been drinking enough water - felt dehydrated. So I'm upping it again today. I KNOW better, but I got lazy. Won't do that again.

It's good to hear from you, Laura. I'm sorry you are having pain, but it does sound like you are attacking it from all sides. I hope the RFA helps a lot. I had a steroid shot in my knee some months ago, and it helped for all of 2-3 days. Then I had a series of 3 injections of Euflexxa, which should be a (temporary) help for osteoarthritis. It has, a little. I understand the only thing left to me is a partial knee replacement.

Good for you for getting your walking in. I'm sorry about the IBS. I know someone here who has it too, and she and the dr are trying to find a good med for her to control it some.

Pool therapy sounds great. I wish we lived somewhere near a public pool so I could do that, too.

Oh WOW! Pat. 6 a.m. and 89 degrees. And humid, too, I know. I would find all that miserable, so maybe that's why I'm a dyed-in-the-wool northerner. LOL

I sure like the special on gas cards at Publix. The best we can do is get 2x gas points if we spend a certain amount. Better than nothing. Once, when gas was getting near $4/gal, we had enough points to buy it for $1.09/gal and felt like we made out like bandits. :)

Your DH and the (lack of) donut: I think it's nice that he helped you. I'd have eaten 3 or 4 myself. Haha

Whoa! There you go again, getting fantastic bargains. emoticon

Speaking of birdhouses, as Pat did, DH fills ours and within 48 hours it's empty. Hungry little buggers. emoticon Makes me wonder what they did before we put one up. We get a goodly assortment of birds, which makes it nice to watch.

I'm working on a pair of socks (may have mentioned it). I have knitted over a dozen from the toe up, but it's been awhile. Guess my fingers forgot how to do the toes done right, easily. I kept at it because I KNOW I can do it. LOL Finally got both toes done and the initial increases. I'm going to finish one sock then the other. I just wanted to do both toes while it was fresh in my mind.

Y'all have a great weekend

It's 72 with a high of 84 and gonna feel like 96 today. We have a 50% chance of rain today then only a 20 or 30% chance tonight. Will find out by noon what my work schedule for next week looks like so I can plan my workout schedule.

Hi everyone;
I had a pretty good day. I got my walking in today I walked down to the store and had their rib eye sandwich with mushrooms and onions with chips and a soda for 5 bucks. It was good but I should have not bough the big cookie at the bank afterwards because when I got home I lost everything I ate! I have IBS and if I overdo on one thing I lose out. Our town had its city wide rummage sale today again. Unfortunately my body will no longer let me run all over town and I do not have the money to spend either.

Nancy thanks for the advice. Currently I am having therapy for my back and it includes pool therapy too. It was nice after I got used to it since I do not swim.

Sarah you sure are determined. I could not afford a trainer. But I wish I could get both of my arms toned like that.

Pat way to go on getting bargains! That is why I like thrift stores too and Good Will as well.
Back is sore I have to go do my exercises now. Also we have to wash the filter for our new furnace so the air works better. it is running too much now.

My name is Laura and I live in Wisconsin. I am a Determined Desert Tortoise. I will get there one step at a time and one day at a time. Slow and steady wins the race.

Sarah you must really be working those leg muscles to have gained 2 inches. You are certainly dedicated to your fitness and that is awesome.

Nancy hope you and DH have a great weekend.

DH & his buddies went to the donut shop for the last time till fall. They are going to give it a break since half of the group is now up north. I was the only wife that didn't get a donut brought home to them. Thank you DH-if you brought it home, I would have eaten it!! He saved me from myself.

I worked in the park gardens early - from about 7:30 till a few min. after 9 and that was all I could handle. I think anyone who has to work out in this heat deserves a big hand. I gave our yard guy a Gatorade when he came to do our yard this afternoon.

I had to go get my toes zapped again and while we were in the area (I don't go in our town), we stopped at 3 thrift stores and I got DH 3 prs of shorts and I got myself a pr and picked up a ceramic birdhouse for the park. Spent $10 total!

Pat - You sure had a busy day!

I don't have a lot to do today. Just laundry and getting a few things from the store. Hubby made it home safe yesterday. Now he's at the office catching up from a week of vacation and a week of travel. Hopefully he won't have to work all day.

It's 74 with a high of 92 but gonna feel like 99 today. Plan for today is Friday Cardio. Took my measurements to send to my trainer and only thing that's changed is my thigh went up 2 inches this month but all other measurements are the same. Scale was the same this morning and my body fat is down 0.1% from yesterday so need to watch my food intake and drink my water the rest of the week. I'll have after my workout today 5 days of 400 or more calories burned during a workout.

emoticon Nancy. Hope you and DH have a great weekend.

We were up before 6 and by a few minutes after 6 we were down at Bob's to help clean his pontoon. With many hands we had it done by 7:30 and we all headed home to get a shower and then went to breakfast. By the time we got home it was 10:30 and DH started the laundry and I worked on the ironing from the last load we did. This afternoon I got my hair cut , stopped by Kohls but didn't find anything on sale that I couldn't live without. Then I stopped by the bank and a stop at Publix as they had the gas cards on sale again this week-spend $50 on groceries (I spent $52.11) and you got a $50 gas card for $40.

Hello friends! I went out this morning before it got too hot and pulled weeds. Then I finished my cleaning. I went for a swim today about 1:00 and had the pool to myself for half an hour. I did apply sunscreen. Hubby should be here soon. I have lasagna ready to pop in the oven.

Laura good to hear from you. It is hard with only 1 good arm, but with a water noodle you could tread water and work your legs and do water walking.
NJ so sorry DH is so set on the Solstice, Men and their toys! Never fun to go for a long distance and be uncomfortable,
We were up at 6 am to help clean Bob & Ellies's pontoon. It was already 89! At least it is done & in the carport now. They are trying to get ready to head north on Sat.
I am heading out to run some errands & get a haircut,

Hi everyone;
I am going through therapy for my back now plus having treatments done at the pain management place. Next week I go for my RFA where they use radio frequency waves to burn the nerves that are causing the pain. My right knee is hurting today too. It hurts most in the knee cap itself which is damaged. The left knee also has arthritis in too. I had my first water session yesterday and land therapy or regular one today. Having bean burgers with potato wedges and brussel spouts for lunch. Tonight going to another camp session at our church camp.

Nancy sorry to hear about your husband not listening to you.

Pat oh how I wish I could swim now. But how can one learn to swim with only one good arm?
Wow! How can you stand that heat there? You must have to stay inside all the time.

Nancy I hear you when it comes to your knee. I have bad days too before I had a shot in it I had trouble going up and down steps. Now I think the shot might be wearing off cause it is feeling painful now.

Pat good plan of eating. I had pizza yesterday and it took my sodium way over the top.
We are in dire need of rain here. We only got enough last night to wet the ground.

My name is Laura and I live in Wisconsin. I am a Determined Desert Tortoise. I will get there one step at a time and one day at a time. Slow and steady wins the race.

It's 80 with a high of 94 but going to feel like 105 today. Plan for today is Back/Biceps and 15 min of treadmill sprints. On my scale my weight is the same as yesterday and body fat is also the same as yesterday.

Sarah - It's been hot and muggy here too. I used to weigh every day but would get discouraged when the scale went up or stayed the same.

Pat - It's been awhile since I swam outside, so I forgot that the water reflects the sun and you bun faster. I went swimming yesterday evening and applied the sunscreen. I admire you for getting your gardening done even in the heat. I need to pull some weds, but am trying to avoid the heat. I think ll get out there early tomorrow morning before it gets too hot.

NancyJ - I'm sorry your husband doesn't listen to how you feel about the Solstice. My husband is a big man so I'm lucky I don't have to worry about small cars. I hope you are able to get some relief from your knee pain.

I spent some time cleaning today and went to the pool for awhile. I've found that if I go around 5:00 there aren't as many people there. In fact, for awhile today I had the whole pool to myself! Hubby come home tomorrow afternoon so I'll finish the house tomorrow. I may work on the weeds too.

Oh, Sarah. I'm sorry we weren't better about giving you our names to go with our usernames. Just in case I haven't confused you enough, I'm Nancy (IAMWINNING), but usually go by NJ since we have another Nancy (BETTERNANCY).
You do so well with exercise and your weight. Congrats.
Unless it rains in excess, a bit of rain is good - especially when it comes overnight so as to not interfere with daytime plans. emoticon
Oh, I'm sorry you missed the opportunity to see the new babies, and visit with other family members.
Yes, thank you, we did have a nice weekend. The only sad thing was the rain that came just when fireworks were due to start. Knowing that the rain was due, we stayed home and watched one of the firework shows on TV.
I read your post of the 5th, and "have to" ask, "what is SRD"? From what else you said, it sounds like y'all paying money into a "kitty" and then benefiting under circumstances relating to weight loss. Sounds like a good idea.

Nancy, spending time with your husband rather than time on Spark is a great idea. Spark friends are real nice to have, but Husbands require plenty of attention.
It's exciting to know that you and your DH are getting so many things done to make this house, "home".
What a shame that you two got sunburned, but you're so wise to not exasperate it. I'm glad you had a good time with your BIL.
RE: The Solstice, I feel like I need shoehorn to get into it, and two people pulling on my arms to get me out. Haha for the visual, but not so funny when I'm doing it. Road noise is awful, and leaves my ears ringing, etc, etc, whine, whine. I've talked about this with my DH and he just blows me off. How can such an old man still be so self-centered!! If it didn't mean missing Josh playing, I just wouldn't go in "THAT" car.

Pat, I'm happy for you that you've gotten some rain; I know you've been needing it.
Completing your final arrangements as much as possible is so thoughtful.
Congratulations on making it through another June! I know it was a big deal taking care of Sharon's job plus your home and DH. You deserve a spa day.
I suppose you'll be both glad and a little sad when you have to suspend breakfasts. Sure, you'll gain a bit of time, but I think it's bittersweet (right word?) when friends go away for awhile. The good news is that they'll be back next year.
How nice that you had a great boat ride. Your 4th activities sound like a lot of fun. Congrats for eating well. A piece of pizza now and then is fine, and you had salad and fresh fruit with it. Good for you!
UGH! Your temps sound dreadful.

Re my knee: I have good times and not-good times. Sometimes I just need some Tylenol and ice, and that helps some. I see the dr in another couple of weeks, and we'll see what he has to say. sigh.

My DD down south hasn't said anything lately how Bosco is doing. DD is giving Bosco subcutaneous fluid a couple of times a week. And she has told me that when Bosco's quality of life goes down, Miss Bosco will join her twin sister who died a few years ago.

Y'all have a good night's rest.

Nancy I have found that I have to swim before 10 or after 4 to avoid a sunburn. We had a new screen enclosure put over our pool here and it helps to deflect the sun on a person. Do be careful and use your sunscreen often. Glad to hear you took time off when doing the cabinets - heat stroke is very real and can be life threatening.

Sarah it sounds like even in the heat you are really dedicated with your workouts. Do be careful.

I got out this morning and planted some replacement flowers for some we lost. Hoping the heat doesn't get them too. We hit 97 this afternoon with a heat index of 107. I got one half of our entry island weeded but that was all I could handle.
We are going to get up early and help our friends clean their pontoon so they can store it in their carport as they are going north for about 3 months.

Its 70 with a high of 95 but feel like 109 again today. Plan is Legs/Abs and 15 min of treadmill sprints. Home scale up a little but it could be anything as your scale could go up and down daily. I'm watching my food and sodium closer today and should see a loss tomorrow morning.

NancyJ - We had a good time when BIL was here. They didn't work on the trike, but we picked it up and rode anyway. I sorry the shots aren't giving you the relief you had hoped for. I agree with you on taking the Solstice. I got claustrophobic just looking at the pictures!

Pat - I hope you're all caught up by now from working. I got behind while my husband was home last week. I did do some light cleaning but plan to hit it hard this week. He left this morning and will return Thursday so I have three days.

Sarah - You are doing so well with your exercising! Keep up the good work!

I took last week off from Sparking since my husband was home. I didn't do my normal exercise routine, but did get plenty of exercise. His cabinets for the garage arrived on Wednesday so we spent Wednesday afternoon putting them together. We were able to do that inside in the air conditioning. We spent Thursday and Friday putting them up in the garage. It was hot so we took frequent breaks and only did half each day. He has some Harley signs that we had in the basement of our old house and we spent Saturday hanging those. Sunday and Monday we spent relaxing. The POA hosted a BBQ at our community pool so we went long enough to grab some lunch. We both got sunburned last weekend so we didn't want to get in the pool. Plus it was full of small children. It's going to be hot again this week. I may hit the pool after I do some cleaning. I have new sunscreen and plan to reapply if I'm out very long. I think the sun is harsher here than it was up north.

It's 79 with a high of 95 but will feel like 109 today. Plan is work first then Chest/Shoulders/Triceps and 15 min of treadmill sprints. My scale is down 1.2# from yesterday and I even ate pizza for lunch. A loss is a loss so I'll take it and should be OK watching my sweets and snacks this week for next Monday's weigh in after a holiday. Our best loser of the week after a holiday gets dues paid but most of us chose to put that money in the SRD fund. I might see if I can do that with my November and December dues since I paid for the year then decided to not renew and instead of me being out $10 I'd rather have it go towards those going to SRD in 2017.

We enjoyed a nice 4th of July celebration (pizza party) with other residents this afternoon. I don't normally get pizza since DH can't eat it so did indulge in a piece and had salad to go with it and skipped the cupcakes and had some fresh fruit.
This week I plan to get back into my regular routine now that I won't be working-that means I have to get up early to walk as it gets hot by 9.
