I must have missed you saying that Abbie's tooth caught you. I'm glad it's looking better.

You've had quite a lengthy recovery from that pneumonia shot. I hope the swelling goes down and the knot goes away, along with the pain.....really soon. I understand hating when an injection stays with you, and with you - like that one has, but I urge you to get the shingles vaccine. Shingles is most painful (I'm told) and can come back over and over again. Years ago, the 30-ish brother of my next door neighbor broke out on his face, and almost had serious eye trouble because of it. My older sister had an outbreak (under her bra band) and suffered a lot. I wouldn't want you to go through any of that.

How nice that Vicky helped you get several more pots of plants taken care of. So glad you had nice temps for your outdoor work today.

I'm sure your home is much neater and cleaner than mine is on a good day. But I know it makes you feel better to zip around and clean when you're expecting company. You're a gracious hostess, and friend.

DH and I have gone to Panama City Beach a few times and love it. We exchange our timeshare, so we have a nice place to stay, and I really like the fitness center that's available.

For the record, I'm not wild about cleaning up vomit either. emoticon I just breathe through my mouth and wear vinyl gloves. : ) But I understand how you feel about it. When my 2nd child was born, we were getting ready to go overseas so DH's parents came for a visit. The night before they were to fly back home, I came down with an gastro/intestinal bug. Still, I made breakfast the next morning. I would have managed ok, but my 3 yr old upchucked all over her high chair. My DH's first words were, "Nancy you have to clean that up because if I do it, I'll throw up, too, and there'll be twice as much for you to clean up." What a prince!! The kicker, for me, was that my MIL sat there like a lump on a log. I confess I didn't feel at all bad about going to bed and not even telling her good-bye.

On the other hand, blood can make me weak in the knees.....depending on various factors. As my girls were growing up, the two oldest ones fell and busted open their chins....DH wasn't around, so I took them to the ER. I just didn't stare at their chins. I was too busy trying to be calm for them. (They were). So each person has their own weak point.

Hand doesn't look too bad today. I cleaned it up yesterday and put a band aid on it and of course it kept getting wet when I washed my hands so took the band-aid off this morning and it is a bit red but looks more like a paper cut than where Abbie's tooth caught me. Actually my arm hurts more where I got the pneumonia shot and still has a hard knot there. Will think long and hard before I get the shingles shot after this!!!
I got my walk in early and then home before 9. I had planned to plant but Betty & Boyd called and asked if we wanted to go to the market at the fairgrounds so they picked us up at 9:30. We were back home a few minutes after 11 as there were not a lot of vendors there today. I guess it is a sign that the snowbirds really have left us! I bought a red pepper and some zucchini and yellow squash. Bill & Abbie do love their peppers.
I was just starting to work on planting when Vicky showed up and she helped me do 4 more pots that I had brought to my house from down by the pool area. Now we have the bromeliads in pots on the wagon there and hope they don't take as much care. We put another 4 or 5 in the bed around the tree and hoping they will multiply. I had put in caladium bulbs a couple of years ago but only 2 coming up so far this year so maybe these will do better as they don't need a lot of water.
I did 3 more pots at my house afterwards and still need to get more plants to do the final 6 pots and guess I will call it quits for this year. I love potted plants but if we go away for a few days I hate to ask anyone to come and water everything so trying to do less and do things that will do well with a minimum of water.
Bill ran the vacuum for me while I was planting and I have gotten the living, dining and family rooms dusted. We are to have company tomorrow (Don, Lin, Vicky & Sonny) to play cards in the afternoon and next week our grandson, Michael, and his family are to visit on Tues so this will get us ready for them. I try to keep things picked up every day so it is mainly just a quick run thru when company is coming. We get so much drop in company that I like to be sure I am always ready for visitors! I do have to mop the kitchen tomorrow morning and do a quick swipe in the bathroom and we are good to go!
It has been an awesome day down here. Cooler than normal-a high of about 79 and has been overcast most of the day so it was great working outside. Sun has come out this evening so that makes a nice end to the day. Know we won't get many more cool days like his so have been sure to enjoy it.
No nap today, but I have felt a lot better. Guess yesterday I just needed a bit of extra sleep. Hope your day was good.
Nancy hope you get a better night of sleep tonight and that you have a great time when you go to visit DD. We will be gone about the same time-plan to go up in the panhandle for about a week with Vicky & Sonny. Looking forward to a short get-away.
NJ I would not have been able to do a thing in your kitten room. I don't do vomit-even when my boys were young they knew to strip their jammies and bed clothes if they got sick and Dad did the laundry. If I went in there, I got ill too! I can handle blood and guts fine but not that!

Brrr, Pat. That's cold for y'all.
What a shame you can't contact your favorite waitress. Perhaps she got a job at another eating establishment, and you'll run into her. Regardless, I hope y'all find another place that's agreeable to everyone.
Yes, that WAS a long meeting. I know you were ready for lunch and a different activity by the time it got over. I'm glad you have the summer off.
I'm glad you got a nap, and hope that if you get another today that you'll feel much better. emoticon Doesn't it always happen that most days everything is fairly quiet, but as soon as you get a nap, everyone's at your door or on the phone! Must be a universal truth.
Thank you for praying for "Bobby". I have been too, and I know that God knows what is wrong, even though I don't.

Nerts! Why do I so often hit "Post Message" when I want to add an emoticon! LOL

Nancy, I guess not knowing who all will show up is a family thing. I remember when we used to visit my grandparents (on the farm) in the summer and there was always a family picnic. I never saw so many cousins! Ha-ha.

I do agree with needing some sort of background checks if an adult is going to be working with children. I just was fussing because it cost us $45 each and took weeks and weeks. : D

I'm glad you slept better last night. As for not feeling like getting up for exercise this morning - your body is probably still reacting to not resting well those other nights.

Oh my, I know how disappointing it is when you make plans (being alone with DH) and something else comes up. I'm wishing you and DH (and DS and DD) a nice relaxing/fun vacation. How exciting to see your DD again after this separation. May I ask how long you'll be gone? Regardless, I hope y'all have a safe trip.

The kitten room was very stinky this morning, and I quickly found out why. Someone had vomited in a lot of places, and it was either bile or bile with blood. I finally 'caught' one of them vomiting, and we isolated her plus two boys that other folks had said were sick. The medical lady plans to check on them this afternoon, and may have to take whoever it is to the vet. Poor baby. Can you imagine puking here, there, everywhere and it having blood in it?

Since today is Maundy Thursday and our stitching group meets at a church, we're going to a local yarn store instead where we can sit and stitch. Went there once and enjoyed it. I have 3 projects started (normally only 2), and plan to take my almost-half finished sock to work on.

God bless you all.

NJ - When the whole family is over we spill I to the livi groom too. Thanksgiving we had a card table set up and some of the guys sat on the couch with TV trays. It just depends in how many show up. I found out yesterday that even parents who volunteer to go on field trips with their kids classes have to have a background check. Such a sad state of the world we live in.

Pat - I hope your waitress moved on to something better and that's why she did Easter early. It sounds like you did need a nap.

I've been really tired myself lately. I didn't sleep well two nights in a row. Last night was better but I still didn't feel like getting up early to exercise. I was hoping for a nice relaxing weekend but we have to go to my MIL's Saturday, we've been going over there several weekends I a row for various reasons. I really wanted to spend this weekend just me and my hubby. I know that sounds selfish bit I can't help it. He'll be leaving for Canada on Monday and won't return until Friday. Maybe next weekend will be quieter and then we leave for Phoenix on the 28th. I am looking forward to getting away and seeing my daughter. Our son will be going too so it will be nice for the 4 of us to be together.

We had a lot of wind during the night and that cold front really dropped the temperature. It got down to 47 overnight and I had to get up and drag out a blanket again. I had washed ours and put it up thinking cold weather was over till about Nov! We did sleep with the window open a crack but shut that early this morning. Our high was only in the mid 70's today.

We went to breakfast and imagine our shock when we found out our regular waitress had quit (or that was what they told us anyhow). We had been reluctant to go to another restaurant as we were loyal to her. We all thought it strange that she did Easter for us a couple of weeks ago. Now we wonder if she knew she would not be there for Easter! None of us have her phone # so have no way to find out where she might have gone. We have already made plans to go somewhere different next Wed!

We were back home before 9 and I read the newspaper before going to our last RO meeting of this season. They will resume in Oct. This is where the business of the park is conducted and decisions are made on what to do, etc. The meeting lasted from 10 till 12:30 - we were all glad to get out of there!

When we got home we watched a bit of the news till 1 and then I decided to take a nap. Of course, the phone rang, someone came to our door and lots of other interruptions but I did finally get to sleep from about 2:30 till almost 4! Guess I needed it as I didn't wake up. I still feel a bit tired so guess I have just pushed too much lately. May try for another nap tomorrow to see if that perks me back up.
NJ so sorry to hear the little guy is still so miserable. Praying that something will change for him.

Nancy, I think it's nice that you've set up your sunroom as a dinning room. When we have the entire family here for dinner (usually every other Christmas), we spill into the living room. Not as nice a site/location as a sunroom. : )

Being able to open the windows sounds great, Pat. There's something really nice about fresh air.

Our front went through mid-day today. We're being warned of a freeze tonight, as the temps are expected to be in the low 30's to 20's. DH teased me about wearing a light jacket to school since it was about 64 degrees (12:45 p.m.). He just had a long-sleeved shirt on. He sang a different tune when we came out at 2:00 and it was in the upper 40's. I felt vindicated. emoticon

We won't be needed at school next week - they'll be practicing for the Spring Fling concert.

I was one-on-one with little "Bobby" again today - he's the one who is angry a lot and very uncooperative. We started out ok, but before long he was mumbling, laying his head on the table, and refusing to read to me as he was supposed to. Finally I took him back to the classroom and his teacher had me work with another student. I feel sorry for "Bobby" for sure, but also for his teacher - to has to put up with that all day every day. Both require much prayer.

Pat - it should sell fairly quick. We've done a lot of work on it and it's priced reasonably. I hope you enjoyed your nap!

Nancy how nice that you have a sunroom to enjoy and you are right that it would be perfect for a pineapple to grow in. Here is hoping that the house will sell quickly for your sake. We have been amazed how fast things have sold in our park. The ones that came up for sale this winter mostly have sold. Some of the ones that aren't selling are priced too high and will never sell. Some need way too much work than what most people want to do and the sellers aren't willing to accept that.
NJ glad you only got rain but sorry the temps are falling like a rock. We got rain about noon today and it poured for about 30 min and then rained lightly for another 30. I haven't gone to check the gauge yet but I imagine we got about 1/4 to 1/2 inch. Now the temperature is falling here and I have turned off the a/c and opened the windows and it is pleasant.
I feel a nap calling so think it is time to grab a few winks before fixing supper.

NJ - I love my sunroom. I just wish I had more time to spend in it. We have it set up as a dining room with and extra kitchen table. We gave our daughter our old kitchen table and chairs but she didn't have room for it when she moved so we got it back. It comes in handy when we have the family over. Enjoy your time at he school, an hour is probably all I'd last too!

Hi Nancy. Sorry you got that much snow even. So far, all we've gotten is rain. If I'm not mistaken, the temps are going to (slowly?) drop all day getting down into the 40's tonight. I'm trying to not even think about it.
The market info sounds promising for selling the house.
How nice for y'all with Florida/sunrooms. I'd love to have one, too. Darby'd like one also - she loves to lay around in the sun. emoticon

I used the treadmill briefly then did some butt-busting exercises. I probably should do those twice every day.....no I really wouldn't do it, but something's got to give.

Today is another school day. I wonder what she'll have us to today. Last Tuesday I stapled a bunch of papers together that the kids will work on, then listened as a few of them read to me. I have such a good time there, but realize I could never be a teacher - a little over an hour a week is sufficient. LOL

Pat - I'm glad you will be edit from our cold weather. I can't imagine temps in the 80's this early. Of course, I can't imagine snow in mid April, but there it is, right outside. Supposedly the market is picking up where the house is located. It's in a town that used to have an Air Force base years ago. There is a factory there that has recently built a larger facility so maybe things are picking up. Time will tell. I will have to remember the pineapple trick next time I buy a fresh one. We have a wonderful sunroom that is perfect for plants!

NJ - We didn't get much, but the ground is covered. Ugh. Maybe it will fade before it gets to you.

Nancy, my DH told me we may get S*&@ tonight or tomorrow. I'd fuss, but I remember what I read in "Jesus Calling" the other day. "Be careful not to complain about anything, even the weather, since I (God) am the Author of your circumstances." Gulp....stepped on my toes! Wishing you warm enough weather to be able to keep the heat off.

Pat, I'm glad you're having slightly less-hot weather. And the much-needed rain coming? Great!
Go to FitBit.com and see if you can find an answer as to why your's quit tracking. I've had to do something like that for my Zip. And if the unit is actually going bad, you can talk with FitBit.com and maybe they'll give you a complementary one. They have for me....twice. Once I lost it, and once it quite working and they could see that from their end.
Thanks for the hint for growing a pineapple; but the way things are going, I'm not sure how much consistency we're going to have this year regarding temps over 50 degrees. emoticon 81 degrees yesterday, upper 70's today, and possibilities of snow tonight or tomorrow. I'll pay attention to this year, and maybe I'll start growing one next year.
Yes, you ARE like the mechanic emoticon I'm glad you are getting around to taking care of your own garden.

Will you two quit talking dirty-that nasty 4 letter word-SNOW. emoticon Your cold front is to arrive down here and bring us some much needed rain. It is also to bring the temps down from high 80's to high 70's to low 80's for a day or so. That will be welcome. Our humidity has been up so it has felt even warmer.
Nancy I am sure you will be glad to sell and pass off that mowing to the new owner. Are houses selling well in your area?? I also try to track my gardening as I work for hours at times. Today my fitbit quit on me so lost my steps. It just would not register them so I finally changed the battery but then my hard work was lost!! I knew it was over 8600 as I could read it, it just would not track. I didn't even get a low battery warning like usual so not sure what is up. Maybe it is going on the fritz!
NJ-you could grow a pineapple in a pot. They do quite well in a large flower pot and usually produce fruit in 2 yrs and make a very pretty plant. You could have it outside till the temps got below 50 and then you would have to move it inside-just a thought in case you want to grow your own.
I worked in the park gardens after my walk this morning and then took a break about noon for an hour. Then DH & I headed to the bank, stopped at Olive Garden for a late lunch and last stop was at Lowes. I now need to get outside and put out the "pretties" I bought for my garden. Bill would call them weeds!!! I need to get new plants into my flower pots-I am like the mechanic=never get around to my own repairs!--my gardening comes last while I try to make the park look nice. I will need more but this is a start.
Pat

I'm sorry, Pat, that your arm is still so sore. I got a pneumonia shot in February this year, and while it did hurt going in and was tender for a few days, it wasn't anything like the problem you're having. Hopefully, the pain, extra warmth, and swelling will all go away within another day or two.
emoticon I had to smile as you mentioned one more thing that isn't the same now as it was when we were younger. Sometimes I want to ask, 'is ANYthing the same as it once was?' LOL
I'm glad you took yesterday afternoon 'off' and relaxed. You work so hard - running errands, working in the park and your gardens - that I sometimes wonder if you give yourself time off. So it's good to know that you do.
I didn't realize that you could grow new pineapple plants from the tops of 'old' ones. I guess I just never gave it any thought how to get new plants. Interesting. I dearly love fresh pineapple, but obviously, we can't grow them up here.
I'm eager to see how well Josh' baseball team 'jells' as they play together more this summer. Since they have to try out for the team, I know they're pretty good players individually. As you say, give 'em time playing together. There are three coaches for the team (including Josh's Dad), and yes, all three have sons who play. I've noticed that the Dad-Coaches don't show favoritism (a good thing) - benching their sons if/when they show poor sportsmanship, for example.

Absolutely, Nancy - track that work as exercise. You burn a lot of calories do all that, so you might as well get 'credit' for it. Sorry your DH's back is bad - and not just because he can't 'spell' you doing the manual labor. I've been suffering low back pain in various degrees for over a week, now, and wonder when it's going to get back to normal. sigh.
Here's hoping your daughter's house sells quickly - then you can have your weekends doing more of what you WANT to do.
You're right regarding baseball - a tie is better than an outright loss. But while Josh's game yesterday ended as a tie, for that tournament's ranking purposes, it was considered a loss for them due to the way all the teams played the day before. Josh's team was in last place going into yesterday's game. The ranking is figured not only on whether you won or lost games, but also how many points did your opponent score against you. Kind of screwy in my opinion, but that's the way they figure it.
How nice that you and DH got to sleep in yesterday and get naps. I agree, what's a rainy day good for but taking naps. emoticon

Isn't it wonderful that Spring is here! Yesterday it got up to 81 degrees, but today is to be a little bit less, and even less so over the next few days - but still not winter! We're in a self-imposed 'no heat-no cool' stage now, which will help with the electric bill. The last two bills were rather high, in fact, the electric bill for January-into-February was the highest we've paid in the 20 years we've lived here. (We have a heat pump, with electric emergency heat).

NJ - I don"t mind doing the manual labor. I log it as my exercise for the day. Besides, his back is so bad he can't really do a lot of the work. I just hope it sells fast so we do t have to mow it every Saturday. I want to start enjoying the weekends! I'm glad Josh's team played better today. A tie is better than a loss.

Pat - I don't blame you for taking the afternoon off. We use Sunday as our lazy days. I hope your area feels better soon. I hate shots,

We slept in today and then took naps this afternoon. It was a rainy day, perfect for a nap. I had the so does open all day. Yesterday is the first day wee ere sable to leave them open very long. Spring is finally here!

Nancy glad you were able to get the yard spruced up as I do know that looking good (first impressions) does make a difference. Sorry you were sore but hoping it is better today. I got that pneumonia shot on Fri and my arm is still sore and there is a big knot where she injected it and it feels a bit warm. Guess we will both survive but sure wish it would get back to normal soon!!!
NJ - sorry that Josh's team isn't doing as well as you would like but give them time to "jell". It is hard when just getting used to playing together. I used to play softball all through school and even some after I graduated. I think I started in about 5th grade and enjoyed all my years playing. Of course, softball today is nothing like what we played.
DH & I both walked this morning and after a break for my breakfast and reading of the Sunday paper (1 of the 2 I get) I then went out to work some in my yard and then the park gardens. I got my back bed trimmed and weeded again-it wasn't bad since I had done it and put in the new mulch. I put on miracle grow with preen in it so hoping that helps to keep the weeds down even more. I did notice that one of our pineapple plants is starting to send up a little pineapple so guess in a 2-3 months we will get to enjoy that. We put out all the tops off fresh pineapples and so far have gotten 2-it takes them 2-3 years to bear. Now we are discussing if we want to try to put in a small vegetable garden out back. We would have to move some of our rock to do it so not sure DH wants to do all that work!!
I have taken the afternoon off-quit at noon and came home and found DH gone. He went to visit with the pool players since I was gone. I read my other paper and after he got his shower, I took one and that certainly felt good-I was hot and sweaty after being out there working for a couple of hours.
Hope all of you have had a blessed Sunday.
Pat

Thanks, Pat, for the written description of the sitting turtle. I'll bet he's a cutie. I look forward to your pictures when you're ready to do them. : )
I wholeheartedly agree that these days background checks are necessary (and isn't it a shame!) It was a not-cheap necessity that took several weeks to get all the clearances, etc, but we managed. I do dread the thought of being legally responsible of reporting directly to the police if I suspect abuse. I ask again: "define reportable incidents, and what happens if I 'miss' something?"
I'm with you about even speaking to children I don't know, although I've been known to do it when tiny ones are in a cart at the grocery store, Mom is present, and I'm standing back a ways. Often I'll make sure I'm moving along, too, just to keep Mom's mind at ease. At school, I never initiate a hug, but will give a quick hug back when one of the 2nd graders comes over and gives me a squeeze. I'm always mindful of the possibilities of someone misunderstanding. sigh. Where are the days when you and I were young and, as you said, we played outdoors all day with no parental supervision, they didn't even really know where we were, and all was well as long as we got home by dinner time.
Those were the same old days where nobody wore pads and helmets while biking, nobody even dreamed of suing somebody just because little Susie fell off her bike, and my DH rode on the shelf of the back window of the auto! I'm NOT saying everything in the 'olden' days was good, just noting how much some things have changed.

Nancy, I agree that Josh's team did so poorly yesterday being due at least in part because only 3 of them (Josh included) ever played on a team together before now. They have had some practices, but really, practicing and playing an actual game are two entirely different animals. Maybe they've learned something from this weekend.
I'm glad you were able to spend a little time at least at your daughter's house. Bless your heart for doing the manual labor thus making your arms sore. I hope they feel better today. Maybe next time you and DH could change places? LOL

Well, the Jackie Robinson Tournament is over for Josh's team. They played poorly in both of yesterday's game, and today was better. At the end of regulation time (7 innings) the score was tied, and since there was time before the next game was to start, the ump told them to play another inning. Nobody scored in the 8th, so it goes into the books as a tie. The good news is that most of the boys did better today. I don't know yet when the next tournament will be, or even where they will play. We will be back to that same complex over the July 4th weekend, but I know they'll play in between now and then.

We home again, and tomorrow morning we get Darby. The place she's boarded isn't open on Sundays for pick-ups/drop-offs.

Have a great week, y'all.

NJ - I'm sorry to hear that Josh's team lost their games. I bet it is because they are a new team and haven't played together much. Plus it is early in the season. Once they have a few practices and games together, I'm sure they'll do better.

Pat - I agree that the world is in a bad way. I remember when my mom would take us shopping g she would leave me in the toy aisle to look at things and she'd do her shopping. No way you can do that now!

We went to our daughter's house today to clean up the yard. It was windy and looked like it was going to storm so we didn't stay long. We want the yard to look as nice as possible since it's on the market now. I raked leaves from under the hedges and my husband picked up the leaves in the yard with his riding mower. I got a good workout, my arms are a little sore tonight.

NJ the sitting turtle is sitting up with his legs crossed and his shell comes down to the back where he is sitting. He will go on a bench up front after we take down the Easter stuff. I will take a pic of it when I do that. I have pics of the glass flowers but wasn't happy with them as the sun wasn't right so will try to do all at once and then post it all in a blog.
I am glad you don't have to do the check again and I do understand why anyone working in a school or anywhere you work with children needs one. Imagine if they didn't, it would be an open invitation to the "sex offenders" to get in there. It is a shame the world is in such a bad way these days. I remember when we played outside and all over town and our parents never worried about us. These days one is almost afraid to say hello to a strange child. I don't think I would want to work with children just because of such - accusations are sometimes made and lives ruined - not as much as it was a few years ago but it is still scary.

My Goodness, Pat! That was a long wait for the dr. But it's understandable considering that he spends a lot of time with each of his patients. Mmm-mmm. There was a lot of ground covered, wasn't there. I'm glad Bill now as a diagnosis for his neck - he's right, knowing what it is helps. As you say, partial answers on things. I hope Bill's appetite improves soon.
Tee-Hee, that'll teach you to ask a dr about a shot. But at least you have it and don't have to go back for it.
So glad you're happy with the concrete items. I'm not sure what you mean by a 'sitting' turtle - is it one that's up on it's hind legs?
What a busy-busy-busy day you had yesterday. But it sounds like you got a lot accomplished - and had fun to boot. Glad you had fun.
Good for you for eating a donut. Remind yourself that it was a rare occurrence and that you work hard and walk a lot of steps. So I wouldn't fuss at myself if I were you. You certainly worked hard today (Saturday) with hauling all those things around instead of using the cart.
I'm sorry Vickie is stick, and hope she's back in good health soon.
What a good friend you have to hem your dress, and then not even charge for it. I'll bet she really likes the bird bath.

Yes, Nancy, it IS a shame that the background checks are necessary, but I do understand it - and yes, we plan to only have to do it the one time, so we'll keep going back well within the 12 month deadline every year. emoticon

We're in the midst of Josh's first-of-2014 traveling baseball tournaments. They played two game today (and lost both) and will play one more tomorrow morning. The championship game will be tomorrow afternoon, but we'll be back home again, as Josh's team is in last place. sigh. Except for 3 of the players, everyone on his team is 'new' together this year. I certainly hope that was some of the reason why they played so badly today. But Josh threw poorly to 2nd base (he's catcher) - not at all like his usual game. And another boy we know from prior years also played nothing like his usual game either. And other boys played poorly too, so it was a disappointing day. Oh well, it was just the first of the season. Hopefully they all learned from their play today.

The temp was in the very low 70's, which was nice, with lots of sunshine. Tomorrow is to be similar.

Have a good night, y'all, and a great Sunday.

Nancy I do try hard to keep busy- ha ha! If I sit, I want to eat so it is best if I keep moving!!!
We were a bit lazy today and didn't get up till 7:30. Felt good to get a bit more sleep! I got out to walk a few minutes before Bill, Sonny & Abbie. Of course they don't walk nearly as far as I do. I certainly managed to get in over 10K today.

I got home from my walk about 9:15 and Bill & I went to get a few items at Aldi and stopped for a donut at Dip Dee Donut. Kinda defeats all my walking but it was good! I had seen them making donuts on a tv show this week and I guess that put the thought in my mind and I just could not get it out. At least we only ate one there and didn't buy a dozen to bring home!!!

When we got home, I got things put up and then did some more walking as I walked up to the front several times and hauled flower pots home and now they have bromeliads in them. I am hoping they do well up there and that they won't need nearly as much water as if we had put other flowers in the pots. I worked on that till almost 12:30. The plants are a mess, they are full of pine needles and leaves so I have to spend a lot of time cleaning them up before planting. I hauled off 2 buckets of trash!

I went down to check on Vicky on one of my trips to get a pot. Her back is not any better so we have decided to call off our trip and will reschedule it when everyone is feeling better. I am going to have to quit hanging out with these "sickies".

I shared a few of the plants with Margaret and she has gotten hers planted already. I actually did 5 pots today and have at least 4 more to do and want to plant some down by the big tree in front of the swimming pool. If I had used the cart instead of walking, it would have gone faster but that would have defeated my purpose-get steps and a workout!!!

Bill has napped for several hours this afternoon but he did eat pretty good tonight. No lunch though. I made hamburgers, fresh fried corn and fresh asparagus for dinner tonight so got a bit of roughage in his tummy! He knows if he doesn't start eat he is going to have to drink Ensure!

I finally got the bird bath I made down to the friend who hemmed my dress. She had quite a job doing that and wouldn't let me pay her.

NJ - I guess I shouldn't be surprised that they do a background check on volunteers, but it did shock me. It's sad that they have to do that but I'm glad they are protecting the children. At least you only have to pay for it once.

Pat - I am tired reading about your day yesterday! You do seem t fill every waking minute.

We were up before 7 and we got the bed stripped and I got the sheets into the washer before we both headed out for a walk. Bill & Sonny did their shorter version and I was off for my more extensive walk. Vicky caught up with me by the clubhouse and we walked on around together. A friend whose husband is in rehab stopped us and we could not get away from her. By the time I glanced at my watch I saw it was almost 9 so said I had to scat as Bill had a dr appt. at 9:30! I had to rush to get my shower and grab a yogurt. We got there right on the dot but still had to wait-as we knew we would! Bill got into a room by 9:40 but dr didn't come in till 10:30. The nurse was with us about 10 min taking vitals and asking all her questions. Dr. spent about 30 min with us-he does this with pretty much all patients so he gets behind but he never rushes one.

Bill's labs were much improved and he told him to stop the B12 for now. I am thinking we might do them every other week if his appetite doesn't improve as I don't want it to get low again. He is still concerned with why it is so up and down but said unless he has a problem he will see him in Aug. He wanted to refer him to a neurologist for the neck since he has quite a bit of deterioration in his discs and he can't give him anything for the pain except Tylenol. Bill asked if it could wait and see if the pain gets any worse. Now that he knows what it is, he is not as worried about it. A lot depends on how he moves his head and neck so possibly he can be very careful. He is not wanting any more surgery IF it can be avoided. If it gets worse, we are to call and he will refer him. Then the matter of the stomach issues-told him he had started taking the canassa again for the ulcerative colitis so he wants to see if that resolves the issue for now. If not, again we are to call and he will talk to Bill's gastro dr about it. They are friends so they can decide if something else needs to be done. So, I guess we walked away with partial answers and still playing a wait and see game. He wants him to drink ensure if he isn't eating as he needs to keep up his energy. He had lost 5 lbs in the 2 weeks between visits! His weight isn't too low but he should not be losing it so fast!!!

I asked if I needed to get a pneumonia shot before next winter and he said yes. Next thing I knew, he sent the nurse out to get it and before we left I got a jab in my arm. It is sore tonight so hoping that doesn't last too long. I know it hurt and burnt as she injected it.

After we left there a little after 11, we headed to BofA and cashed the check for park beautification and I got us some cash. I could not believe the line in the bank and others were also commenting on how busy it was today. Our next stop was at Suntrust to drop off our car payment. Just 4 more and it is OURS!!!

We had stopped at the concrete place yesterday as they had called on Wed while we were in JAX that my items were ready but they had already closed so we picked them up today. She did a beautiful job on the doves. Not sure exactly where we will place them, but we will find someplace to put them in the park. We also got a "sitting turtle" to put on the bench up front after we take away the Easter decorations.

We grabbed a sandwich at Wendys and finally made it home by 12:30. I got another load of laundry started and the 1st one into the dryer. I had to go to the office to get the key to the storage shed and Bill helped me get the potting soil out of it. I had planned to pot the plants I got yesterday but it was pretty hot out by the time we got done so I decided it would wait till tomorrow morning when it is cooler.

Talked to Ruthie about 3:30 and they wanted to know if we wanted to go for fish at Bee's so as we were heading out about 4:25 we saw Gary & Margaret getting their mail so invited them to go along. We had a nice visit with everyone and got back home about 6:30 and got busy watering my potted plants and getting the clothes out of the dryer.

Glad to finally sit down and chill out now. I sometimes wonder where my days go - I don't seem to sit down much!!! emoticon

Hope everyone has a great weekend and gets to enjoy some great weather.

Pat

Jenny, I don't anyone who is eager for surgery of any kind; and I'm sorry you need it - you ARE young, but I hope (and pray) that the surgery does the trick for you, and that your recovery will be great.

I had to smile broadly, Pat, when you mentioned the growth in that part of St. Charles County. It sure struck us that way, too. Even after we came back from overseas, we used to travel I-70 to go visit our folks. And oh boy! do I remember the flooding. It was phenomenal. I guess the mall is up high enough that it isn't a problem....I'm thinking of the one South of I-70 about at St. Peters. I think it's Something River Mall or River Something Mall.
I do hope one dr or another can figure out what's up with Bill and take care of it "once and for all". It sure seems like the two of you have had more than your share of medical problems this past year or so. Time for a reprieve.

Nancy: cool that the one machine converts into two different ones.
I agree: requiring volunteers to report suspected child abuse probably will cause some people to not volunteer. Add that requirement on to the cost we had to go through to be allowed to volunteer (doing ANYthing with the kids - school, field trips, etc), and it's a wonder they have volunteers at all. We'd volunteered for some years until the school district required paperwork from us. We had to fill out forms and send them to the FBI and when we got clearance from them, we forwarded the paperwork to the State Police. Once we got their clearance, the school district board had to vote on whether or not we could volunteer. All that cost each of us $45, hassles and waiting time. As long as we volunteer doing something each 12 month period, we don't have to go through that rigmarole again. So you bet we keep going back! We've been at the elementary school so long, that we're practically on a first name basis with the principal. I know I'm fussing, and that it's very important that abused children don't slip through the cracks, but VOLUNTEERS?!!! What-ev-er, as my oldest used to say.
Nancy, I hope you're getting nice weather for working outside. That can make all the difference in the world. This morning, I weeded for the first time this season. Ugh, it's the part of gardening that I dislike the most, so of course it's my job. emoticon
DH and I grocery shopped after I'd weeded and he did something too; and now I'm playing catch-up online. {yawn} I feel like a nap - and no, don't ask me what a nap feels like. LOL

NJ - We actually only have two machines, and only purchased one! Our daughter face us her treadmill when she moved. The elliptical/bicycle is I e machine that converts. It's nice. I admire you and your husband for the volunteer work you do. I don't think volunteers should be required to report suspected child abuse. Teachers should, and they should be trained for it. I think expecting volunteers to report it might cause people to not volunteer. Schools need all the volunteers they can get. Thanks for passing on Sharon's message.

Pat - It sounds like you had a nice visit with your brother. The earrings sound beautiful! Hurray for the golf cart being fixed! We have Direct TV and they are often in contract disputes with different networks. They usually work things out before we lose the channel. I hope you get good reports from the doctor and the answers you are looking for.

Work has kept me pretty busy this week. I've been so tired in the evenings that I've been falling asleep in my chair early. The past so nights I was in bed by 8:30 and I'm still tired. I'm hoping to get some rest this weekend. We do have to go to our daughter' sold house and work I the yard. It will be nice to be outside working. It's supposed to be a real nice day.

NJ that area on in St. Charles county has just gone crazy the past few years. My son lives in Wentzville and it isn't a sleepy little town anymore! I can't believe it every time we go back to the area to visit how much more it has grown up. I don't know if you remember how it always flooded in the MO Bottom area and now it has a big mall-crazy.
Tomorrow is finally dr day. Hoping for some answers. I am figuring his internist is going to send him back to the gastro doc and possibly to see his oncologist. We resolve one issue and seems something else is waiting to take it's place.
Had a nice day today-went with Vicky & Sonny to Clermont and Winter Garden. We hit a couple of thrift stores, a fertilizer company, lunch out, and BJ's.
Getting late and have to be up early for his appt.
Nite all.

Thanks Nancy it was one of the hardest decisions for me to make. I know I need it so I can exercise. It is just hard to believe it has to come to surgery already.

Hi, y'all. Sharon asked me to pass along a message. She misses everyone, feeling like she is abandoning us; and she's thinking of us all. Sharon's having great difficulty at work, but at least she's able to track fitness minutes, and plans to re-engage with us as soon as she can. If you can, take a minutes and give her encouragement on her SparkPage.

Pat, you've expressed my thoughts exactly about the 2nd grader - what WOULD we report....he's an angry little boy? I'm thankful that we are not yet in that position.
My goodness! Some days it doesn't rain but that it pours. Sorry....I hope the rain didn't come further into your bedroom than the sill. What a circus at the gas station. I'm glad you were able to work it out and pick up Sonny and Vicky. How sweet of them to take Abbie while you're out of town.
Oh, is Bill not eating much these days? I hope whatever's causing that gets cleared up soon. How interesting that the restaurant serves bison. I'd had a bison burger years ago in CO, and I, too, found it dry. But it was nice to experience once.
I'm glad you had such a nice visit with your brother and his wife. Isn't it interesting all the changes in places when you don't get there often? We lived in St. Peters, MO years ago, and after returning from overseas, we were driving through there so looked up our house. Things had changed so much in those five years that we had to look at a local map just to find the house! There's a big mall now where there used to be just a few stores, etc, etc.
How sweet of your brother to give you the peridot earrings. You have a very good brother, indeed.
Your gas prices rival ours. When we went by a station this morning, it was $3.59 for regular. Who knows what it is now. Like your station, ours tend to jump in price, instead of inching up.
emoticon Let's hear it for a golf cart in operating order! I'm glad that got worked out.
We've thought about leaving cable and going with some satellite service, but too many of them don't carry all the stations we want, but do carry a lot we're not interested in. I'm thinking we may stay with cable.

When I arrived at the shelter this morning, I knew the kittens hadn't been fed yet so that I would be greeted at the door. Sure enough, there were 5 or so noisy kitties, with a 6th on climbing on the back of a smaller one. I scooted them back into the room and quickly fed them. As usual, they tried to 'help' me get their food on plates. LOL I had a good day at the shelter, and was reminded why I love going there. When I was finished, DH took me to the isolation room where a brand new pit bull resides. She's there until she's been to the vet for a check up. We got to interact, puppy and I, and she's about as loving as my Darby. I hope she gets a forever home really soon.

NJ it certainly does seem like something is not quite right with the picture for that little boy but what would you actually report. Maybe his parents fight all the time and that makes him angry, who knows.
Nancy it is good that you have all the exercise equipment and can use it when the weather is bad. I am looking forward to getting back into the pool soon. It has been open, I just haven't found the time to go!!
We woke up to rain hitting the window this morning-I had left a little gap in the bedroom window and of course it got the sill wet! We were up by 6:30 and got showers and ready to go pick up Vicky & Sonny at the car dealer. They dropped their Prius off for the recall and also had their oil changed. We were to pick them up at 7:30 and ended up being a couple minutes late-had to stop to fill up as we planned to leave directly from Billies to go to my brother's. I had $10.50 left on the gas card I had for Race Trac and that didn't quite fill the car so when Bill went to use the credit card it would not take it so he had to go in and then we had to change pumps so that took an extra 10 min! That made us late picking them up!! We weren't able to get Abbie to do her thing so when they got back home, they picked her up and took her home with them.

We got on the road about 8:45 and arrived at my brother's just before 11. We had a nice visit and they took us to lunch at Ted's. It is a restaurant that Ted Turner started but it is a franchise. I had a bison burger. It was just a little dry but tasty. Annette had bison meatloaf. It had ground up green pepper in it and I didn't care for the gravy they served so was glad I didn't order it. Bill just had a Caesar salad and didn't even eat all of that. I worry about his eating!

We got back to their house about 2:30 after they showed us the new shopping center built about 2 mi from their house. They have also put an exit from I-275 right to their main street since we were last there. Lots of changes since we were last there-think it was almost 4 yrs ago! He usually comes down here so haven't made the trip up.

He brought home a beautiful pair of peridot earrings for my birthday from his last overseas trip and gave them to me today. They are gorgeous and over 3 carats! I have a very good brother!!!

We left a little after 3 and arrived home about 5:30. While we were gone our gas price went from $3.59 to $3.65! In JAX it was $3.49 to $3.53. Don't know why we have the highest prices anymore.

Our golf cart was here when we got back and guess what, it is running right now! Woo Hoo!!!! Picked up Abbie from V&S and finally got to sit down and relax about 6:30.

Dish has taken our NBC off -not sure what is going on-I guess the network and Dish are haggling over price and we have to pay the penalty for that. Not sure how long this is going to last. Might have to think about changing service if this lasts very long!!

Nancy, it's very nice that you have those 3 machines. I'm happy for you that you can read on the two of them. I, too, have wondered what's in the boy's life that he seems to be angry all the time. What awful stress that is for him.
PA has a bill on the Governor's desk that would require volunteers (like DH and I) to report suspected child abuse - not to the school, but to the police. What - are they going to give us training on what to look for? Sure, if a child shows up with bruises, they might be abused, but there's so much abuse that isn't seen by the naked eye - mental, emotional - so how are we to know? Ask yourself, would YOU like to be approached by the police because some untrained person reported possible abuse? I, for one, have bruised VERY easily as long as I can remember, and rarely realize how I get them. Protecting children from abuse is laudable, but I this bill goes too far. Ok, I'm climbing down from my soapbox.

Jenny, I'm glad you'll be getting more help with your foot problem. You just shouldn't have to suffer so much pain. I'll be praying for you regarding the surgery.

NJ - I always have the music on but sometimes have it low so I can read. I can read while treadmilling and riding the bicycle but not on the elliptical. I feel bad for the angry second grader. I know adults that are never happy but I've never run across a child like that. It's sad. It makes me wonder what's going on in his life they makes him so unhappy.

Nancy, I don't workout to music as often as I could - sometimes I read - depends on how big/little the print is, and how fast I treadmill.

Pat, sorry you got wet this morning. Hope the wind wasn't much at the time - and that you got home quickly.
I'm glad the sunburn is getting better. emoticon I hate it when I get a farmer's tan. When we travel by car, I often roll my short sleeves up to avoid 'the line'.
What a lousy way to keep customers. I don't blame you for withholding payment until the golf cart repair-ers gets it right.
No, indeed. As retirees we shouldn't have to get up at a certain time....but we do, don't we. LOL A nap sounds good.

There's one little 2nd grader who is a real pill - he pouts, mumbles his displeasure, refuses to cooperate, etc. At least today he behaved a little better for me, but our short session almost didn't even get off the ground. He seems angry all the time. I do feel sorry for him, being so unhappy all the time. DH and I have to cajole him to get him to do what the teacher assigns him to do with us. Poor little kid.

Pat - I don't blame your for disputing the payment, you should t have to pay for it of they do t fix it. Haven't they had it for quite a while too? I'm glad your sunburn is better. I agree that you shouldn't have to make those decisions. When I retire I'm sleeping as late as I want! Of course, I have exercise equipment in the basement so the weather doesn't affect my walking.

The rain arrived on schedule this morning-while I was out for my walk!! Luckily it was just more of a sprinkle till about 30 min after I got home. We haven't gotten nearly as much as was predicted but it has been pretty much an off and on all day affair so not doing anything outside today.
My sunburn is much better today-I took a cool shower yesterday afternoon and have applied lotion to it several times and I think it is going to tan & not peel. Now I have a farmer's tan so will have to get to the pool soon and try to even things out some.
I am happy I got out to walk about 7 am or I would not have gotten it in. I still haven't met my 10K but have managed to get over 8K so not too bad. Will see how many more I can add in the house!
Not happy with our golf cart repair company-they put in new batteries last week and it didn't run right immediately after they brought it back. Told us to do a full charge on the batteries but still not right. Fri. they said they would pick it up Mon and when no one showed, DH called and was told it was on schedule for this morning and still no show and it is almost 2 PM! The owner called back and talked to DH yesterday afternoon so was hopeful they would live up to their word but losing faith as the day goes on. Well, guess what, when the charge comes in, it is going to be disputed until this is corrected. I find $$$ speaks louder than words!!! DH wanted to call and vent more but I said, this would get their attention!! I rarely do this BUT if things aren't right I certainly believe in the power of withholding payment till things are corrected. The ball is in their court and the clock is ticking!!!
NJ I think it may be time for an afternoon nap-good for a rainy afternoon. I too go to bed late-usually 11:30 to 12 but in the summer have to be up by 5 to 5:30 to walk before it gets too hot so often take a nap during the summer. In the winter, I can sleep in till 7 or so-we are retired so shouldn't have to make these decisions should we????

Pat - Indeed He was. I'm not sure our family could have handled another loss so soon. She should be going home soon. The doctor is working in getting the right dose of blood thinner and blood pressure medicines. As soon as that so right, she can go home. I hope your burn isn't too bad. I can't wait to see the pictures.

NJ - I love to workout with music.

I know it sounds decadent to sleep in, but we don't go to bed until 11:00, and I don't always get to sleep right away, so some days I sleep in. Thursdays I get up at 6:00, Sundays I'm up at 7:00 - and about the same several other mornings a week. It's a weakness, I guess, but I embrace it. LOL

Pat, I'm sorry you got sunburned today, and hope it isn't severe, so that it gets all better real soon. I can hardly wait to see what pictures you get in a few days. Sorry about the rain, even if it is beneficial, and I hope you have a safe, happy trip to see your brother.

I shut myself in the extra bedroom (where my treadmill is) this morning, and played some of my favorite CD's while getting exercise. (Mercy Me and New Song) They're great for energizing me on the treadmill, even tho' DH doesn't like them (hence the closed door). emoticon

Nancy the Lord was surely there looking after MIL - what a blessing. Continued prayers for her and all of you.

NJ that is wonderful about Josh. Hope you get to sleep in some if that is what you enjoy. I do like to indulge from time to time but usually too much on my agenda to do it.

I managed to get sun burnt today-Vicky & I spent almost 4 hours in the gardens placing the new glass flowers. I will get pictures taken now they are in but it may be a day or so-expect rain tomorrow and Wed we hope to go visit my brother in JAX.

Hope all of you have had a Marvelous Monday.

Praise the Lord, Nancy! That's wonderful news. God worked it out that your MIL arrived at a place where she was known and loved before the stroke, and then for her to be able to get that drug. How fantastic it is that she's walking and talking. Super! I'll pray for her continued recovery. I know the whole family is breathing a sigh of relief, and I hope y'all will get well-rested now that things are looking up.

Pat, I've heard from several people that keeping busy keeps them from snacking, but over the years I developed a mechanism that 'allows' me to snack while I'm keeping busy. Yes, even while I'm knitting. sigh. So I'm now learning how to change that around.
Great deal to get a Simply Vera top for a buck. Woo-Hoo! I'm getting antsy anticipating pictures of the wonderful things you are doing for the park. emoticon

I slept in this morning (felt good) and after breakfast I got on the treadmill. Woo-Hoo! I'm celebrating this victory because I know it doesn't occur as often as I'd like. I did some core exercises on Saturday, and am having some residual low back ache, so won't be doing anything like that for awhile. Obviously, I did some of the exercises wrong, or I wouldn't still be hurting. Will have to watch that.
Josh's traveling tournament (baseball) team starts their playing season next weekend at a complex we've been to before. We plan to go up there (about 1 to 1-1/2 hrs away) Saturday after dropping Darby off for boarding. Their first game (they should play 2 on Saturday) is currently scheduled for 10:30, so we don't have to go up Fri night. Then, they'll play a game on Sunday, and if they're lucky enough to rank high, they'll play the championship game Sunday afternoon. That's the usual scheduling for this league.
This year, Josh's team is playing in the 16U (16 yr and under), and since the boys on his team are about 14, they're going to be challenged....a good thing really. Did I tell you (I'll bet I did, but it bears bragging again) that there are college coaches keeping an eye on Josh's playing?
This morning DD called to ask if Tyler could spend the night Friday and grandpa and grandma bring him up. Of course we said yes. Tyler, bless his heart, is a child after grandma's own heart. Normally, I don't like to get up early, and we have to coax him out of bed, sometimes with threats of ice water down his neck. emoticon Never have DONE that, mind you......the bed would get wet, too.
I'm still working on items for the craft fair this fall, but I think I'll also knit a pr (or two) of socks for me. I enjoy that, and they're warm but not hot (wool). But I have several craft fair items I want to make and it's April already.
I hope you all have a great weekend. Be safe, dry, get some exercise, but also plan for some relaxing "you" time.

Thank you both for the prayers. They worked! She had just arrived at my Sister-in-laws office when the stroke happened. The ambulance arrived quickly and got her to the hospital. The doctors gave her a "clot busting" drug. This drug has several criteria that you have to meet or they can't give it to you. It can work great or it can also cause a bleed and kill you. My other SIL is in the medical field and was able to give good advice. Mom was sitting up in a chair yesterday and is talking. She has movement in all limbs and can walk. They had her up walking yesterday. She is still in ICU only because they didn't have a bed to move her into. She should be going home on a few days.

Nancy sending emoticon for your MIL and all of you that things will continue to improve. It just seems like you get thru one thing and another issue takes its place.

NJ sounds like you had a busy day. I like to stay busy-keeps me out of the snacks- emoticon . It is when I am sitting that the urge to snack hits.

We made a long morning of it today-did the 2 community sales and picked up a few items. I got some vase to finish up my bird baths and this afternoon I assembled 4-actually one will be a birdfeeder I think as it is a small bowl. I also got a Simply Vera top for $1 so thought I really got a bargain on that.
It was nearly 2 when we got back home so was thankful Abbie did go potty before we left at 7:40.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday.

Pat

Nancy I am so sorry to hear about your MIL. I remember when your FIL had a stroke and passed on, and I know that makes it so much harder for y'all. I'll be praying for your MIL and her whole family (that includes you!). It does sound encouraging that she was already trying laugh a bit. A good attitude on her part will only help in healing.
Here's me coming along side you to offer whatever support I can. emoticon

DH and I were going to stay home today until time to go to small group, but at breakfast he announced that he wanted to pick up a few bags of mulch, because they were on sale. Since I wanted to stop at a drugstore for something on sale and at Wal-Mart, we included those stops, too. Because of small group being at 5 p.m., on small grp days we have "dinner" at lunchtime. So I prepared that, did a few dishes, washed the glass globes on our dining room chandelier, and before all that, I sorted out several colors of seed beads for a project I'm about to start. After all that, I climbed aboard the treadmill for 20 minutes - didn't want to overdo since I haven't been on it in weeks - then did some strength exercises associated with the March challenge......so what if it's April?! LOL
It's shower time, then I have a few more things I want to work on before we leave this afternoon.

We got some bad news yesterday. My MIL had a stoke. My husband and his family were at the hospital until late last night, he didn't want me to drive over there after work so I just came home. I kept busy around the house while I waited. She was doing better last night. She's responsive and even tried to laugh a little at one point. It's so hard for us because we just went through this with my FIL in 2012. That outcome wasn't good. I'd appreciate any good thoughts and prayers.

Thanks, Pat. Maybe my computer got tired of me fussing at it. I don't know. emoticon
It sounds nice that Abbie got to go for a ride this morning. And I know what you mean about her trying to get people to come pet her. Darby does the same. In fact, DH took her to a dog park recently and he said that she spent more time 'letting' people pet her than she did with the other dogs. That's my girl!
I hope the MRI for Bill shows everything is good.
Don't you love it when he does laundry? I mean, after all, some of HE got soiled, so it shouldn't be YOUR job to do it. At least that's what I used to tell my DH until he took over altogether.
Hand & Foot is a card game isn't it? I seem to remember my aunt and uncle played it.
I'd enjoy going to yard sales, but DH isn't interested and I get reminded now and then that gas costs money - meaning he'd like me to stay home. It's not worth fussing about. DH is real good about wishing me a good time when I go stitching, and he didn't even raise an eyebrow when I recently went to a baby shower, so it's not like he wants me home all the time. I wouldn't stand for that.

I wish you all a good night's rest.....I need to get there myself, so g'night, y'all. emoticon

Glad to see you back with us NJ. Wondered what had happened to you but thought maybe you were ill or just busy. Seems that some of the threads I follow also dropped off for a bit-I guess the computer likes to think for us at times!!
I had to take DH for an MRI this morning and we had to be there before 7:30! Abbie & I waited on him in the car. She tried to get people to notice her and pet her. Only a few did but she enjoyed the attention. I read the newspaper and one of my magazines. I am about to get caught up again.
I did manage to walk for an hour after we got back but was getting pretty hot by the time I finished that I didn't do a 2nd round so didn't quite make my 10K. DH worked on the laundry while I walked.
We went to visit our friends this afternoon and Vicky & Sonny rode along and the 8 of us played Hand & Foot and went out to dinner and came back to play a final game and then Lin served us a light pineapple cake she had made.
Gotta run, it is late and will be up early again to go to some community yard sales.
Pat

Yes, thank you. I enjoyed lunch. I haven't tracked it yet - it probably wasn't particularly good for me. I tried the Subway Flatizza. Well, now I've tried it....cross that off my bucket list.

I'm glad to see you made better choices, Nancy. I'm always sleepier when it's overcast/raining. Surely there's science behind that. : )

We've had a mostly laid back day today, and will tomorrow, too, until we go out for small group tomorrow evening. Love those days when we're coming off busy days.

NJ - I just thought it was odd that you hadn't been posting. It sounds like you've been busy. $60 is pretty reasonable for a printer. I hope you had a good lunch!

I went to lunch with a friend and had chili and salad bar. I am so full right now. and very sleepy. It's cloudy again today so that doesn't help with the sleepiness.

Hi Y'all, Nancy brought it to my attention that I haven't been here for a few days. I don't know why I didn't get notification that you've been posting. I've had so much email and Spark messages in my inbox that if something wasn't in my face, I confess I didn't think about it. I am so sorry. I'll try harder to be a better co-leader.

Sunday's weather WAS awful, but at least there wasn't much snow. The bad part was the wintery mix that left a good 2 inches of slush that froze over. It did melt pretty quickly Monday. We've had a few fairly decent days (compared to winter), but it rained a bit yesterday, and doesn't look any better today. Whatever. I'm trying to not fixate on the weather.

Wow, Nancy! Getting in 10K steps just from everyday stuff. Good for you.
I'm so glad you didn't get storms. I think that Spring storms can be worse than any other time of year - although some storms are vicious no matter when they appear.
There's something to be said for sleeping in occasionally, so I'm glad it doesn't sound like you beat yourself up for doing it. Your NORMAL is getting up early, so enjoying a sleep-in now and then is fine.

Pat, I SO agree about ink being terribly expensive. Wish we could manufacture our own cheaply. Haha.
Wow! You made out like a bandit at Rural King. I'm a believer in coupons, too. It pays to work a teeny bit harder to coupon. Reading your description of the things you're doing for the park's gardens makes me want to come down and see. It's so nice that you have friends to help you, especially with the heavy lifting part of things, and to visit and play games with. I like Olive Garden's soup and salad lunch, too.
Sorry Abbie doesn't like her haircut. Does she act out, or just kind of pout?
Oh my, I hope the MO tornado didn't do much damage. I've seen hail (we were driving) that was a thick as snowfall. I was just thankful we weren't driving when it hit.

I took my laptop downstairs and was able to wirelessly print something on DH's printer, so that told me that it was my printer that was broken (thought so). After dinner we went to Wal-Mart where I found another printer. It doesn't automatically feed sheets in, but I don't copy much, and usually just a page at a time anyway. It was on sale for less than $60, so I feel very fortunate.

I have been a busy with the usual stuff (housework, school, kitten room cleaning, etc) and working on my stitching along with reading and trying to catch up with all my email and Spark messages. I can't believe how many messages of one kind or another I've been getting lately. Oh well.
When I started cleaning the kitten room yesterday, one of them kept annoying a few others. There was a good deal of hissing and me-owing going on, so I picked up the provocateur and put him in a cage until I was finished. He settled right down and was quiet. It happens every so often, so I'm thankful for the cages. All the kittens I have now are about a year old, which reminds me that it likely won't be long before I start getting the 2014 babies. Goodie!
DH is taking me out to lunch, so I need to get off the computer. I think of you all a lot, with great affection. Have a lovely weekend.

Pat - No damage for us. I'm I Central Illinois. It didn't even storm here. We had a little lightening yesterday morning but that was it.

I've been lazy the last two mornings and slept until I had to get up to get ready for work. I'll be back to my normal routine next week as my hubby will be traveling again,
