We had to turn the a/c on last week as we have been in the 90's this week and high 80's last week. Too hot for so early but it is what it is. That is one reason I was pushing to get my outside work done before it got even hotter.
Bill has had the tummy issue, the arm and his back but we felt we could only deal with one at a time. Since the tummy is seemed the most urgent that is what we attempted to get answers for but since that didn't pan out, we will now try to get his arm taken care of and then maybe see about his back.
I did take off yesterday afternoon and we met up with friends for a late lunch at Sweet Tomato. 4 of them will be heading north in the coming week to 10 days.
Sorry the game got cancelled due to all the rain you are getting. It looks like we could get some starting next week. We really need it now-very dry here.

Dear me. I'm so sorry about the test results. If I got another attack, I'd be tempted to immediately go sit in the dr's waiting room until he took the time to see me. No more week waiting. Regardless of my opinion, I do hope you and Bill are able to run down the cause of his problem.

It's so unfair that now he has an additional problem. I hope the steroid shot takes care of that pain, and Bill regains good health.

Wow! That was a lot of work (in the back garden). No wonder it took a week to complete. All that work was HARD work, too. Not as "easy" as pulling weeds or deadheading flowers. Hauling old mulch, new mulch and gravel. I do hope you were able to take some "Pat time" doing something you really enjoy and find relaxing.

Josh's ballgame today was cancelled due to all the rain we've been getting. The month of May - can hardly believe we're almost there. Our normal high now is mid-60's, but today was barely 50. Last Tuesday reached 83 degrees. sigh. I don't remember April being as bad as this has been. Up/down, up/down.

I hope you have a great weekend.

Yes, we got the results late on Tues and the tests showed NOTHING wrong with the gallbladder. Now the dr wants us to call immediately when he has his next attack and he will get the test scheduled ASAP! DUH-we had to wait a week and the attack lasted about 10 days but no...couldn't get him in then. Now we have moved on to try to solve another issue-his shoulder is popping and it is the one he had rotator cuff surgery on so hoping all is ok. His primary thought he might need a shot of cortisone in it
I have finally finished the back garden. I can't believe it took me all week to do it-once upon a time I would have done it in a day or 2 but just can't do it anymore. I hauled off 6-8 five gallon buckets every day as I took all the old mulch off and then put on new rubber mulch. I also spread 12 bags of pea gravel in the rock area by our house to cover the space where the new curbing is further out than the landscape timbers were and covered the cloth that was sticking thru the gravel in spots. I was whipped when I got done today.

Thank you Pat for your good wishes for me on Tuesday - it was a terribly busy day, and I'm glad it's over. But by the November election I'll be mentally ready for the crush that will be presidential election day. LOL

Have you gotten Bill's test results yet?

I worked on my socks at stitching tonight. I figure another six months and I'll be done with them. No, seriously, I work on them in fits and starts, but I have knitted the heels on both, so the rest SHOULD be a piece of cake.

Next I need to work more on the top I started last summer. I knitted up to the armholes and stopped. sigh. It's a cotton short-sleeved top, and I really would like to get it done to wear before the coming winter.

Speaking of the weather, it got to 80 degrees a few days ago, but today's high was in the upper 40's and rainy. Josh has a game tomorrow, and the prediction is all the way to 52 degrees with chances of rain. Guess I'll wear my winter coat again and my rain poncho, taking an umbrella and maybe a blanket. emoticon

Due to Tyler's mom having an after-work appt, I took him to his game on Monday. His mom got there soon after the game started. Meanwhile DH went to Josh's game. Anyway, on the way to the game, T-man was complaining about not being able to play more than 2 innings (each boy plays at least 2). I told him that if he tries hard he'll get better & as he does, the coach would probably play him more. In Monday's game, Ty played ALL innings. I left shortly before the game was over (cold, of course) & before leaving I made a point of telling Ty how much I enjoyed watching him play, that he played well, & how I am proud of him - all true.

Hope you have a good night's rest.

Never, EVER give up. Just pick yourself up and keep going.

Well the test is behind Bill so now hoping the results don't take long AND that they tell us something!!! We were there about 9:15 and they got him in immediately after the paperwork and it was 1 PM when we walked out of there. Long morning and I had gotten up to walk before we went so I was out before 7 am and did about 3 1/2 mi.
Bill was starved when we got out since he couldn't eat so we headed to Denny's so he could eat breakfast. He has slept since we got back.
I have a busy day planned tomorrow-wanting to work in my gardens and deadhead the park's roses.
I wish you a good night's sleep and a good day tomorrow and thank you for caring enough to do this.

I hope the test has gone/is going well and tells the dr. just what is causing Bill's pain.

Yes, I'd say you were tired since you (all) slept in the other morning. Sometimes you just have to do that.

I'm wishing you all the best in finishing your gardening. You've described a lot of work, and I hope you're being kind to yourself in the process.

DH and I put the rubberized mulch on his Grandmother's grave. It looks good and will continue to do so for a number of years, eliminating the need for annual mulching.

Authentic Mexican food can be hard to find here in the States, but it's oh, so good. Glad you found a place that serves it.

I hate it when insurance companies take it upon themselves to deny something your DOCTOR has determined is necessary. I hope that works out for you.

It's really nice that the youth are trying to raise money for the less-fortunate kids to also go to camp. I think all of them (the givers as well as those receiving $$) will have a better experience.

Just got a call from DD that the Varsity coach wants Josh to play in their game this afternoon. Guessing at least one of the two catchers on the Varsity team won't be there. I don't know how much Josh will get to play, but I'm proud that he's been asked to be on the team today.

We will go to the game, come home and have a quick supper, then be at the fire community hall at 9:00 tonight to do what we can to set up the room for tomorrow's primary. At least a few of the firefighters are supposed to stay after their meeting and help take down the chairs and tables. And a couple of our Election Board are coming, too. About a year ago I counted about 140-something chairs that were open on top of the tables. emoticon There's a lot of work to make it ready for the election. Sure hope we rest well tonight.

Never, EVER give up. Just pick yourself up and keep going.

Thank you NJ-he needs all the prayers we can get. He is pretty miserable but trying to stay out of the ER. Terrible to say he is looking forward to a test!

The day started out with us sleeping in till 9 am-something I very rarely do but we didn't set the alarm and I guess I was exhausted if I didn't wake up earlier. Bill and Abbie slept right along with me.

I made oatmeal for breakfast for us and then headed out back and got to work on that little garden. No bigger than it is it is sure a lot of work! I cleaned about 1/2 of it and we hauled off 4 buckets full of what I cleaned out. I decided to take out some of my aloe plant as it is taking over an area so pulled quite a lot of it out. If Bill doesn't have surgery, I will hopefully get it finished this week. I can only work in the AM as it gets sunny and just too hot to work later in the day.

By the time I got that done, it was almost noon. I headed up to Lowes and got 3 bags of marble chips to finish up the hill area. The new edging needed more rock to fill in that area and the 3 bags did the job. I also headed over to Home Depot and got 6 bags of red rubber mulch. I have decided instead of putting down the cedar mulch every year, I am going to change over to the rubber mulch and it should last for at least 10 years. Once I get this done I won't have to do it next spring or for quite a few more! More expensive now but will be cheaper in the long run.

By the time I did that and got home and spread the rock it was already 1. Bill called Betty & Boyd and the 4 of us went to Plaza Guadalajara in Mt. Dora for Mexican. We had a great lunch and as we were leaving, we ran into our financial advisor, his wife, son and mother-in-law. He moved his family to Sorrento so he seems to run in the same circle we do now. Guess we like the same restaurants. He helped me invest my 401K from my job. We aren't like a lot of retirees who have a lot of money to invest, but he treats us like we are.

We did relax and watch a bit of the Nascar race this afternoon and then headed up front after a nice leisurely golf cart ride around the park. It is always fun to watch the motorcycles riding by and there must have been 10 golf carts up enjoying the show.

I did my paperwork when we got back and that ended up taking longer than I thought it would. I had to check on my medicine the dr ordered-pharmacy is holding it up-I know why-he changed me from one medicine for my triglycerides to another and they had just filled the other script so now they don't want to fill this one. I won't be able to take the one when I change to the other one. Hoping the dr explains that to them and gets it shipped soon. I got my bank statement so got that balanced and paid my Visa bill and brought my park flower money brought up to date. Amazing how much time all that takes!! I want to be up to date on stuff if Bill does end up having surgery.

I made a Dutch apple cake after that-the youth at church are sponsoring a bake sale tomorrow to help pay for camp for the ones who can't afford it and they asked for donations for the sale so this will be our contribution.

Hi Pat, I'm praying for Bill, that the dr will discovery exactly what is wrong, and then be able to treat it. If it IS his gallbladder, once it's removed Bill will be so much better shape.
I'm so happy that your Canadian friend has come through surgery well. Yes, they get patients up as fast as they can. It supposedly gets them healing faster. I have my fingers crossed that he will soon be moved closer to home for his wife's sake.
Yes, pretty soon we will be grousing about the heat....I have a small comfort zone, and anything above or below that is "grousing" weather. :) Our weather lately has been pretty good - a bit cool (breeze) at Josh's game last night, but a light jacket took care of that.
My goodness! It IS that time of year, isn't it - the snowbirds coming back North. Well, I hope the 6 or 8 of you enjoy your breakfasts together.
I'm a little surprised that Abbie tolerates cotton balls (anything) in her ears while she's bathed. I thought dogs didn't like things in their ears. But maybe she knows that the alternative is getting water in her ears. :)
My goodness! You sure do a lot of gardening. I hope things on that score settle down for you.
I simply do not understand how/why that man allowed his dog to piddle on other than grass. How very rude, to say the least. Our neighbors (and we) don't mind when the dogs piddle on the edge of the grass, but I fully expect the dog owner to pick up the solid stuff -- it's only considerate of the owner, not to mention it's the law. Good for you for lodging a complaint in the office.

Never, EVER give up. Just pick yourself up and keep going.

NJ Bill actually did pretty well-he had pain but nothing more than he has been suffering with. It seems to be pretty constant most of the time with times it gets really bad and doubles him over.
If he stays laying around it is bearable so that is pretty much how he is dealing with it for now. Mon can't come soon enough.
Sounds like a good idea to split up to attend the games when there is a conflict. How great that Josh got done early so you got to go to Tyler's game too. It is back to that time of year for you!!
Hoping the weather gets nice and stays that way soon for you. Pretty soon we will all be griping about the heat I guess.
We went to breakfast with our group-guess this will be our last week going to our usual restaurant. We will only have 6-8 next week so going to try another restaurant. One couple said they won't go - it is too far but the rest of us want to go somewhere else so majority rules!!! He was the guy who originally wanted to change restaurants. Some people are never happy no matter what you do!
I drove the ladies so we stopped at Dollar Tree and Aldi on the way home. I needed cotton balls for Abbie's ears-I stuff a piece in when I bathe her to keep the water out.
I finished the trimming of my shrubs when we got home. I had 6 of them in front of our house and I gave them quite a "haircut". Things grow so quickly down here I wanted to not have to do this again in a month or so so did a major prune job. I filled the trash can again, 2 sheets with the last of the clippings and a bucket. I am hoping to start work on the back garden tomorrow if we do not get rain. By the end of the month I want all of my yard whipped into "spring" shape.
While Bill was outside, a resident came by walking his male dog and he let it piddle on one of my statues in my rock garden. Bill kindly asked him to please not let his dog do that and he made some comment and let him do it again. I decided to go to the office and put in a complaint. I don't mind if they piddle in my grass, but please keep them out of my rock garden-then all the dogs want to go there. About a month ago I picked up #2 of out there. That was disgusting and if I caught that person they would have gotten handed a present!!!
Our Canadian friend came thru his brain surgery well-the dr was able to repair the aneurysm and they even have gotten him up. The hospital where the surgery was done is 90 min from where they live so his wife who is 78 is hoping they can move him back to the hospital close to home by early next week.

I'm glad for Bill that there things he can take to eat while he enjoys the company of his friends. I'm sorry he's still not feeling well. I pray God's healing of him. I, too, hope that it's Bill's gallbladder that's giving him problems, because as you said, it's treatable and would give him such relief. I hope the sonogram on Monday shows stones to confirm the gallbladder idea. How did Bill do after eating the ribs and other stuff?

We often use a trash can for a similar purpose....makes it easier to keep trimmings and weeds under control while we work, doesn't it?! Whew! You sure were busy and got so much done the other day.

We've had a few really nice days, but it got down into the 40's again last night. (Boo, hiss!) I'm trying to just take it a day at a time. As my DH says, "It is what it is".

Since Tyler and Josh both had games yest. (J at 4:15 and T at 6:00), DH and I are starting what we did last summer. When there was a conflict with the boys' games, one of us goes to one game and the other of us to the other game -- with a few exceptions.

So, yest. afternoon I watched Josh's team beat the other team 16 to 1. emoticon The game was called after four innings due to the lop-sided score. Josh and I went to Tyler's game getting there after 6:30) and joined Mom and Grandpa. I didn't keep track of things, but I believe Tyler's team won. The boys' games are not always on the same days, so that will help.

I slept in the guest room so DH wouldn't bother me when he got up at 6:00 this morning to go to the shelter. I awoke earlier than that, and finally crawled out of bed to discover DH's alarm hadn't gone off, so he was a bit late this morning. Guess I should just go ahead and sleep in my own bed, setting my (travel) alarm for shortly after 6:00, just in case. Haha DH doesn't have to be at the shelter at a set time, but has made a habit of consistently being there at the same time each week.

Now that my eyes are 'good' again, and I have glasses that allow me to see well, I've resumed knitting the socks I started a few months ago. I made a pair off this pattern several years ago, but it's sorta complex at the heel. To my relief, it went more easily than I thought it might. Now for the foot portion...

Well, time to stop having fun and go clean a few 'bits' of the bathroom that DH is responsible for but doesn't do well. It's just not worth fussing about - I'll do it myself. emoticon

Nancy, how has the move gone? Don't feel you must reply right away - you have a LOT to do getting settled and all. Just know we're thinking of you.

Never, EVER give up. Just pick yourself up and keep going.

Thank you all for your prayers. Here’s what I know as of this evening. I spoke with my grandson who DID go to school today. He said there were at least 20 police officers there, and every bag was thoroughly searched, including his very large, many-zippered baseball bag. (You ought to see the size of that thing!) NO PROBLEMS ALL DAY. I thank our precious Lord and Savior for that.

Over 500 students stayed home on an excused absence, leaving fewer than half the student body at school – mostly athletes due to play games after school. What I don’t know anything about is if the authorities know who the remaining would-be perpetrators are. I hope they are apprehended and soon.

I continue to thank and praise the Lord for his protection of everyone at the school.

Never, EVER give up. Just pick yourself up and keep going.

Another perfect spring day down south. We were up before 7 and Sonny came to pick Bill up a few minutes after 7. I had gotten Bill a gluten free banana bread out to thaw last night so he took that for his breakfast. I got the bed stripped and had 2 loads to do today. I started the 1st one before I headed out for my walk. Bill was home by the time I got back but he wasn't feeling great so he went back to bed. I took Abbie for her walk and then home for my breakfast before I got busy.

Bill had changed the clothes around for me before coming in so by 11 we had the bed remade and the clothes put up. (I had to get Bill out of it to make it!!!)

I drug out the hedge trimmer, went and emptied the paper can (we use a trash can to hold our newspapers) so I could use it to hold the trimmings as I trimmed the 3 shrubs on the west side of our house. I filled the trash can, had 2 sheets full of more that wouldn't fit and a bucket full! I didn't realize how badly the shrubs needed trimmed till I got started! I was sweating profusely by the time I got done about 11:30. I plan to do the ones on the front of the house tomorrow.

I took a break to watch the noon news and then got busy and caught up my ironing. While I was doing that, Bill got his shower and once I had the ironing done, I got my shower.

Bill had a 2:45 appointment at the gastroenterologist. He was running about 30 min late so was 3:15 before we got in. No problem with the biopsies he took when he did the endoscopy but Bill told him about the severe pain he has off and on. We thought it might be due to his gallbladder and the dr agreed. He has him scheduled for a sonogram on Mon morning and if that doesn't show stones, he has to have a more extensive test that will take a couple of hours. They will inject dye and do something like a cat scan. I guess it is bad, but we are praying he does have gallbladder issues as it is something that can be treated and maybe it would give him some relief.

We got out of the dr's office a few minutes before 4 and headed straight over to join the rest of the Brittany group for the monthly birthday & anniversary dinner at Oakwood Steakhouse. Lucky it was only about a mile from the dr's to the restaurant as it was scheduled for everyone to be there by 4. Bill decided to eat whatever he wanted to see if it made him sicker. So far he hasn't gotten too bad-has pain but not moaning and groaning yet!!! He ate their ribs and even ate a couple of onion rings. Said he was going to eat gluten and fatty ribs tonight and see what happens. Dr even said if he did and got sick it would pretty much prove it was the gallbladder!!!

We hit 84 today but it has cooled down nicely tonight. I even had to wear a long sleeved shirt this morning when I walked as it was chilly out there. No complaints though-loving this weather.

NJ Sounds like your weather has greatly improved. Enjoy it while you have it. That is what we are doing with our spring weather. Last year we got about 2 days and then it was HOT, HOT, HOT!

Pat, I hope you and Bill have been able to get tickets for the bus ride to the Passion Play. I'm sure it's going to be an uplifting time.

Bless his heart (your friend in hospital). It must be awfully difficult to find things to fit - clothes, furniture, cars even. I'm continuing to pray for his healing.

You're right - if I didn't (overall) enjoy working the polls, I wouldn't do it. : ) Although the $$ are nice to have, we sure earn it some election days. Fortunately, only rarely do we get unpleasant people. I've decided to mostly ignore my "co-worker" unless he does (more likely, SAYS) something contrary to what we're taught. And if (strike that 'if') WHEN he does, I'll nag the Judge of Elections (my DH) to take care of it. No unnecessary high blood pressure for me due to that man/child.

Dear me, I'm sorry Bill is continuing to have health problems. I hope the gastro dr is able to help him soon.

The weather is trying to trick us - it got into the 70's yesterday, and might make 80 today. I don't trust it - I'm expecting cold weather again.....not that the weather man has said anything about it. :)

Take care of you.

Never, EVER give up. Just pick yourself up and keep going.

Laura I hope you have a great time at the retreat and come back renewed in your faith. We are hoping to get tickets to go to the Passion Play with our church on the 30th. We should have signed up Sunday but wanted to check our calendar 1st and it is open so....hoping we can still get a seat on the bus.
NJ thank you so much for your prayers. I am awaiting word from our friend's wife about how he is doing. She said he is doing better in the hospital than expected. He is 6'7" and is almost too tall for the bed! They have worked to make him comfortable.
Sounds like you are a busy beaver too. Glad you are able to make a lot of the games. I know how much you enjoy them. Always even more fun when they win too.
That will be a LONG day for you at the elections but I am sure you will enjoy it and a little extra $$ for the job. I hope your one guy doesn't make you too miserable.
I walked this morning and then Bill & Abbie met me for a 2nd round but he probably should not have walked as he almost didn't make it home-had to cut thru a couple of yards and a friend brought him home on the golf cart. We got his hearing aides turned up today. Tomorrow is his appt. with the gastro doc and we are going to discuss his continuing tummy issues.

Mon, 4/18. This is an update about the threatened shooting at my grandson's high school. I spoke to him this evening. He said a lot of students are planning to stay home on the 20th - I didn't ask him why he's planning to go to school in spite of the threats. I suspect it's because there's a baseball game that afternoon that he wouldn't be able to play in if he didn't go to school. But that's just a guess on my part. He did say that if something does happen at school, there, of course, won't be any game.

In addition to the one boy who made threats, (they know who he is), four more students apparently are also involved, and no, their names are not known.

Satan is trying to make me fearful, but I am clinging to the Lord. But I could use your prayers for me to continue to hold onto the Lord.

Thank you for praying for all - students, teachers, police, parents and grandparents, and all others. Thank you.

Never, EVER give up. Just pick yourself up and keep going.

Pat, it's too bad the edging guys didn't do exactly where the concrete blocks had been, causing you extra expense and work to add white marble. Still, now that its done, I'm sure it looks very nice, especially with all the planting you've been doing around your house.

How nice to have lunch with friends and be able to look over the lake. I'll bet it's real nice having the lake to enjoy, and be close by.

I was fussing at technology this morning myself, but finally got my phone to work right.

I'm in prayer for both your grandson and you friend with the brain aneurism. I'm asking God to lay His healing hands on them both, as well as your other friend with the May 5th open heart surgery . I'm also praying for you and Bill, and that the new meds will help you both. It's a good thing that they have determined the infection your grandson has so they can treat it knowledgably. MRSA is serious, but apparently medicine has progressed such that he can be treated at home instead of having to stay in the hospital.

Laura, Congratulations with your school successes. More power to you! I'm sorry you're having continued health problems. I know that can be mentally wearing as well as physically painful. I hope your new church members are much more supportive of you, as well as preaching/teaching the Word. I'm glad you've getting insight in how your bringing up has affected you as an adult. I've worked through some of that myself, and still am at times.
Sorry I missed wishing you a good retreat this past weekend, but hope that it was a blessing to you.

Jenny, I am glad you're learning about the reasons behind why you eat the way you do. Knowing what needs to be changed is the first step in changing. God bless you and help you on your journey.

Y'all, If it isn't one thing, it's another with me - not all of it bad either. We've been to some of Josh's ballgames, last Saturday was an outdoor work day at church, and while I haven't been obsessing about it, the threat to the high school is still on my mind. The good thing about that is that it causes me to pray about it.

Josh played four games last week. When a team has at least 10 runs ahead of the other team by the end of the 5th inning, the game is called. That happened at least three times, with Josh's team winning. :)

We couldn't make Tyler's opening day of baseball last Saturday due to prior commitments: DH had a Judge of Elections meeting; and I was committed to helping at church. Eeeow! My aching back and knees. I weeded for two straight hours. There is a Judge of Elections at each precinct. Our primary day is on the 26th, and I doubt I'll even be able to sign in on my computer that day. We have to be there at 6 a.m., and probably won't get home again until 10-ish - depending on how things go. But that's a whole week away. :)

Never, EVER give up. Just pick yourself up and keep going.

Hi everyone;
Pat glad to hear your grandson is back at home. MRSA is nasty and certainly will pray that God heals him of it. I know of people in nursing homes who died from it. They came back from the hospital and got it that way. Our weather has been nice too the last few days; in the 70's here.
Going to a Ladies Retreat with my friend from church on Friday and coming back Saturday.

My name is Laura and I live in Wisconsin. I am a Determined Desert Tortoise. I will get there one step at a time and one day at a time. Slow and steady wins the race.

Laura & Jennie nice to have you join in. I appreciate your prayers for my loved ones. I had good news today-the dr let our grandson come home-he actually has MRSA so will be on heavy antibiotics for the next 2 weeks. He is to see the dr in a week and is hoping they clear him then to return to work - he is married and has a family to support so as we all know we must work to pay the bills!
We overslept this morning and almost didn't make it to church. We leave about 9 am and didn't wake up till 8:30! Those were the fastest showers and gulping down a yogurt we have ever done.
Vickie & I walked this afternoon since our weather has been mild-we only got to 79 this afternoon so pleasant even in the afternoon. I have really committed to trying to walk most days and want to get into more strength training as my gardening winds down. I figure all the shoveling and weeding and lifting of bags of "stuff" gives me enough right now but....I need to do something as that ends for this spring.
Here is to a healthy and active week for all of us!

Pat i am sorry to hear about your husband and grandson I will pray for them too.
I am learning more about myself through this class and how I came to be like this. It is based on my relationship I had with my parents. They were older and more permissive and kind of ignored me most of the time. Now I can understand why I got into trouble when I was younger. Thankfully I had a closer relationship with my own daughter than I had with my mother.

Hi everyone I know I have been busy and I have not been on here lately. I am currently in a class on behaviour modification and I have to modify my behaviour. I am learning that I am stress eater as well as an emotional eater now. I gained weight last week. A total of 9 lbs. I will keep your grandson and friend in my prayers.

NJ thank you for the prayers. Please add our grandson - we got a call yesterday evening that he was admitted to the hospital with an infection and a blood clot. He thinks he will be in for at least 3 days getting IV antibiotics. Praying this will help him on a journey to better health-he is obese-over 400 lbs so very worried about him. We also found out the dr plans to do surgery on our friend with the brain aneurysm next Tues.
We went to see our primary dr today. My triglycerides are going up even though I am walking and have pretty much stopped eating any sweets, baked goods, etc. Dr is thinking it may be genetic so is taking me off the statin and putting me on a different medication. I am praying it will work. I plan to get even more exercise and eat even more carefully.
DH has to increase his thyroid medication as his numbers are rising. He is also having to take a 2nd iron supplement as his numbers aren't coming up enough. Will try to feed him even more iron rich foods in the coming weeks. He is being referred back to his orthopedic surgeon as his shoulder is popping and dr is concerned about that. He is also going to have to see a dermatologist for a rash on his arms-not sure why this is happening.

Hi everyone;
Sorry I have not been around in ages. I am still having shoulder problems and now knee problems too. Also have trouble with a bladder infection that keeps coming back. I will not go through the net cause I heard how one woman in our church had to have it taken out cause she had problems. I am still in school yet and praise the Lord I finally passes the Algebra class last time. After taking it twice I managed to get good scores on my very last week, Otherwise I had F's but when Jenny checked on it later she said I got a C-. Last year was not good since we not only had to move to a different church but had to say goodbye to our friends. It seems things gradually changed ever since my husband died and they cannot understand how we feel. It hurt us very much to break it off but like my one friend said the dynamics changed when my husband died.

Nancy i am sorry to hear about all the problems the schools are having by you. It certainly seems that the end is coming soon.

Thank you for bringing up your friends' medical problems. I don't know specifically about those problems, but God does, and I'll be meeting Him in prayer for your friends. I'm also praying for their families and you, as their friend.

Thank you for your prayers; and you're right: it's good they've had some warning, instead of having to address the aftermath. I do hope they actually know which student(s) it is so the parents can be contacted. What is it with people today? For so many, it's pick up a gun and blow somebody away, or "just" commit suicide and worse than that even, are the people who kill others then commit suicide. Evil is abounding in this day and age, and I pray Jesus will return soon.

Never, EVER give up. Just pick yourself up and keep going.

NJ I will be praying for all concerned. Very thankful they actually had a warning instead of a tragedy where there was no warning. Praying it is just poor soul who is needing attention or who has been harassed and this is their way of asking for help. So often these situation are the result of a combination of many factors. I am sure the authorities are taking this very seriously and I would think the parents of the student would also be concerned.
I am asking for prayers for some of my friends-one has just been diagnosed with a brain aneurysm. I am waiting to see if surgery is a possibility or if they will just send him home to face whatever happens. Another friend is facing open heart surgery to repair an mitral valve and an aortic aneurysm on May 5. Odds are not the best for him but can't not do the surgery either.
We go to the dr tomorrow to get the results of our lab tests.

Pat, I'm sorry I'm in no shape to reply to you right now.....maybe tomorrow I'll be calmer. I certainly need to turn this over to God and not stress.

DD sent me an email that her son (Josh) told her a student at his high school has threatened to shoot up the school next Wed, the 20th. DD also forwarded a message from the school as to the steps they are taking, including increased police presence at the school. They are taking this very seriously. Please pray for all. With all such shootings, I'm glad to see the school and police are doing what they can to prevent any trouble. I'm trying to lay this at the feet of Jesus and step back. (My usual inclination is to pick it up again and 'worry' it).
Thank you for your prayers for all concerned.

Never, EVER give up. Just pick yourself up and keep going.

NJ how wonderful that you can "see clearly" again. I am happy that you are pleased with the new glasses. Until we lose the ability to see we truly don't value it as we should most of the time. I know how difficult it has been for DH with his limited vision.
I know being able to watch Josh play and truly seeing everything was a real treat for you.

Another day flew by here. I was up and out to walk by 7:30 and got Bill out to do a round about 8:30. I like to be up early before it gets too hot out there but some days just have to sleep in a bit. It was getting pretty warm by the time we got home about 9.

I got busy after we got back as we had a lunch date at noon. I made Bill some of his banana/egg pancakes and boiled some eggs so I have them ready to make things like tuna salad, potato salad or egg salad and Bill just likes to grab one for a snack.

I got the dusting done in the front part of the house as Bill had run the vacuum for me yesterday. I usually do that 1st but just didn't get to it. I moved the concrete blocks the crew had taken out when they poured the new edging. They had laid them on the rock on the hillside and got that all dirty and the edging is out a bit further than the concrete blocks were so now I see I need probably 3-5 more bags of white marble rock. One thing means you have to do more before it is complete!! I also planted 3 birds of paradise that Vickie had rescued from the dump. I put them in my back flower bed-now I need to find time to get it cleaned up!

By the time I got all of that done it was getting late and I needed a shower so jumped in the shower and of course had to wipe it down when I got done. By the time I was done and dressed, it was noon and we needed to beat feet.

We got to our friend's by 12:15 and picked them up and headed over to O'Keefes. They had never been there. Bill asked if they could fix him some grilled shrimp and fries and they agreed so he had something he could eat without upsetting his tummy. This was our treat as Frank had repaired our ceiling fan in the Florida room. We had a nice visit and lingered over lunch just visiting and looking out at the lake.

I stopped at Lowes on the way home and got salt for our softener, 2 new toilet seats, and flowers. Now Bill has the job of changing out the toilet seats!!!

I redid the round pot of flowers in front of our house and the stacked pots on the west side of the house. Glad to have that taken care of. I still have 2 plants I got for the park that I need to plant but didn't get that done today.

I did the spreadsheet for my park expenses and then fought with my printer again but FINALLY got it to print. I don't know why suddenly different things aren't working. My fitbit quit syncing last week and now the printer isn't acting right. Not sure why all this is happening-guess the computer is wanting to challenge me!! I keep telling it I am smarter than it is, but not too sure I really am-ha ha!

I had leftovers from lunch for my supper and Bill just had a bowl of cereal since we had way too much to eat at lunch. That made things easy on me.

So far the rain hasn't arrived here-it got dark but that was it and actually it has gotten lighter out so hoping it doesn't totally miss us as we really could use some rain. High of 86 today-so far we have resisted turning on the a/c.

Whoops, rain just arrived.

I'm so glad the weather cooperated for your picnic. It sure sounds like a great time, and lots of yummy food. How nice that the man gave rides on his boat to all who wanted to go. I'm very happy for Bill for finding several food items that are gluten free. I'm sure that's challenging sometimes. And what a find at the grocery store - more gluten free foods. That's so much better than having to stick to a small selection.
Wow! You really DID have your roller skates on yesterday. How very much you accomplished, and it just goes to show that you're a very organized person. You and Vickie certainly deserved that time in the pool. I hope you CAN get back into the schedule that worked so well for you last year.

I needed to erase several hundred books from my cloud They had automatically transferred from the cloud to my new Kindle. Ugh. The good news is that when I deleted them from the cloud, it also deleted them from the new Kindle! I had painstakingly made a list of stuff on the cloud that I was finished with and didn't want to read again, then put it in Excel on my computer, then alphabetized it. A lot of work, I know, but it made it easier to go down the cloud list and know what I needed to delete. But, emoticon I deleted a couple of books I hadn't read yet, The good news is, that with my alphabetized list, I was able to determine which ones fell in that category. Since I can charge my old Kindle by holding the wire in it emoticon I plan to read them on the old one (where they still are). Haha. A lot of work, but at least I'll be able to read the books.

I hadn't thought about it before hand, but took my baby aspirin last Friday and again on Sunday before I went to donate blood. It took only five minutes from needle stick to all done. That's my personal best time. Haha For my efforts I got a pint of Bruster's Double Chocolate Chunk ice cream. No, I didn't sit down and eat it all. I didn't even take a bite until Monday. Then last night shared with DH. There's still some in the freezer. Gee, what restraint. LOL I love that flavor, second only to "Death by Chocolate". Brusters (if you don't know them) have RICH ice cream, and lots of good flavors.

Tonight is the "training" class for poll workers, so we'll be going to that. There's generally very little to go over, but sometimes it's quite important. Here in PA, our primary isn't until April 26th. I feel gipped. The states who vote early narrowed down the 17 Republicans to just 3. I'm afraid we WILL have Hillary as our new president, regardless. She's such a crook and liar, and all-around bad person. But I shudder to think of Trump as president. sigh.

We have to be at the polls by 6:00 a.m. for the 7:00 a.m. opening, and can't leave until all work is done after they close at 8:00 p.m. - sometimes 10:00 p.m. One of DH's duties is to take all the paperwork and lots of other stuff to downtown York to the Election Board....approximately 15 miles each way. Then we get to come home and collapse. Haha I expect to get at least close to 10K steps in that day.

Four years ago on the November presidential election day, I got in something like 14K steps. It will be interesting to see the turnout this November.

I picked up my new glasses yesterday, and almost cried for being able to see clearly again, at all distances. When picking out frames, I'd narrowed it down to two, so asked DH what he thought. He picked up a third pair, blue. I tried them on and looked and looked and finally settled on them. The blue is not, as the young woman said, "Kindergarten blue" but are a dark shade, and look quite good. I'm pleased. It was a pleasure to watch Josh's game last night and really SEE the players on the field. emoticon

NJ sounds like a busy day for you also. I have had to change out my modem a couple of times. 1st time the phone company came out and did it, the next time they sent it to me and I had to do it! It certainly has been some crazy weather this spring. However, it has been awesome for us this week.
Our picnic was great-about 200 attended and they did a wonderful job. Church furnished the burgers, hot dogs, chips and condiments and the rest of us brought a dish to share and there was a nice variety of everything. Even found things that DH could eat that was gluten free. One member brought his boat as it was at the local city park on a major lake and he took people for a nice boat ride.
Hope you get your kindle figured out. I need to take mine to the library and get it set up so I can borrow books from there with it. They have a help desk which makes it so much easier than trying to do it myself.
I have had my roller skates on today! We were up before 7 as Sonny picks Bill up about 7:10 for coffee and donuts. Not sure why Bill goes since can no longer eat a donut but I guess it is to BS with the guys! I got busy here at home and gathered the laundry up and got the sheets into the washer before heading out to walk. Met up with Vickie and we walked or a few streets together. Then split up as I wanted to get back home to take Abbie for her walk. The 1st load was ready to go into the dryer so got them in there and got another one going and by then, Bill was home so he walked with us.
Once that was done, we had a bowl of oatmeal and then I got my list ready and I was off! I started off at Walgreens, then on to Aldis, a quick stop at CVS, then Publix, the bank and finally the dr's office. I left about 9:30 and was back home about 11:30 so I let no grass grow under my feet!!
I had my list and pretty much stuck to it-I had coupons to use and didn't give in to buying a lot that wasn't on my list. I did pick up some spinach wraps that are gluten free and found out that Boars Head meats, cheeses and condiments are all gluten free. I bought a few slices of a couple kinds of meats at the deli and made us each a wrap when I got home. I was happy to know they are gluten free as I had read that most processed lunch meats aren't. The wraps weren't too bad and I am sure I can experiment even more and come up with different ideas on them.
Vickie came by as I was giving Abbie a bath after our lunch. She wanted to let me know she had been doing some planting. We went and put out the last of the plants we bought a few days ago. We got the new trellis tied into the old ones and tied the climbing rose on it. We also got the plant support rings put on our ornamental grass by the clubhouse-fun getting those in as there is rock there!!
We decided we would meet at 2 at the pool-might as well start taking advantage of this beautiful weather. I came home and got our pills done up for the week. Bill accidentally took my night pills yesterday-luckily I didn't have much in there-my statin was the only prescription drug. He did take my baby aspirin which he isn't supposed to take but don't think 1 will hurt him.
I spent 90 min swimming, treading water and doing exercises in the pool. 1st time I have been this year. Normally Vickie & I go several times a week in the summer and hope to get back into that trend.
I have easily gotten my 10K today. Don't have quite as busy day planned for tomorrow but still a lot I want to get accomplished as we are to have rain on Thur and Fri.

Good for you, Nancy, for taking a few days of rest!
Wow! It sounds like you have everything well in hand. Kudos! How very nice that your work-mates treated you. I'm sure you had a good visit (but too short) with your son and his wife. I guess by now you must be in AR....give or take a few miles from your new home. I wish you well with all the unpacking. I hope you'll give yourself plenty of time to get it done. There's no reason why it all has to be done with a few days. emoticon

Well, Pat, yes - we HAVE had a goodly number of rain showers, although it hasn't amounted to ark-status, yet. Still, I have a pile of lumber in my back yard. Hahaha! And we even awoke Saturday to snow - didn't even cover the grown around here, but not too many miles away, they got an inch or two.
Oh wow! What a busy day you had on the 8th. I gather the windows have now been replaced??
What is it with electronics? They always seem to give us fits at the most inopportune times. I hope you were able to get your printer working right again.
A church picnic - that sounds like a lot of fun. How did it go? Was the weather warmer?
Our church usually has a picnic every summer. It's a lot of work for those of us on the Hospitality Committee (to see that things are set up and cleaned up), but we do have fun.
Sorry your weather cooled down that you needed jeans. Chilly/cold is chilly/cold, as we well know.

Josh had a game late last week, and DH and I bundled up really well, including blankets. The boys normally play 7 innings, but the score was tied. DH and I couldn't take it after about 9 innings so came home. DD called later to tell us the game was called on account of darkness, with the scored still tied after ELEVEN innings. I felt so sorry for the boys - they can't bundle up and play at the same time.

Last night's game was fun (for us). They only had to play 6-1/2 innings because our guys (home team) won by 12-3.

My sad story - We lost the internet over the weekend, and I couldn't make it work at McDonalds, so had to wait until yesterday when the cable guy came out and had to install a new modem. Cross your fingers: it's working.

And remember what I said about my Kindle on the 7th? After talking with Amazon, I had to buy a new Kindle Paperwhite. It arrived yesterday and I'm still 'learning' it. There have been that many changes since I got mine in 2012.

DH took a car in for service yest. a.m. then went on to his monthly breakfast with fellow retirees, so when my DD called and asked if we'd pick up Tyler (he threw up yest. a.m.) I got him. Didn't know when DH would get home and I had to be here for the cable guy. Tyler did well at my house, and after lunchtime, we went back to his house where he could play with his stuff.

Yest. a.m., DD was a bit hesitant when I told her I'd go get T., asking if I could drive since my distance vision is a bit blurry. I assured her I'd be fine, that I've already drive a little. When we got to my house, I had T. get on one extension while I called his Mom to tell her we were safely back at my house. emoticon

Never, EVER give up. Just pick yourself up and keep going.

Nancy-it is finally "M" day-hard to believe this was just a dream not too long ago and now it is reality. How nice that your friends at work made it special for you - glad you enjoyed your last few days. Now it is on to the next phase of your life. If there is anything I have learned is that nothing stays the same and we are always growing-sometimes in ways we never imagined.

I did more yardwork today and now have 95% of the bark removed on the west side of my house. I have to decide what I am going to do with my huge fern that is in the area I haven't attacked yet. Do I remove it or work around it??? Will make that decision and then finish up and get my rock and get that job done-gotta do it while it is cool.
We are having a church picnic tomorrow after services so I made rice krispie treats to take. I know DH can eat that so thought I would make sure he had a treat to eat!
Weather cooled down enough today that we got the jeans out again. Very chilly (51) when we walked this morning so hoping it is a little warmer tomorrow as the picnic will be by a lake also.

Pat - It did feel good to get rid of the treadmill. We actually got rid of a few big items. Your day on the pontoon boat sounds like fun! I hope the doctors have figured out the problem with Bill's headaches and that they are able to get the bill for the other visit resolved.

NJ - I know I needed the rest from packing. I listed to him and didn't do much this week.

My last day of work (for awhile) was Thursday. On Wednesday we had a team meeting and had cake and they gave me a nice card. My cubemate asked everyone to wear red since its my favorite color. Some of us epwent out for dinner and drinks and they gave me someoresents to remember them by. It was a great evening. Thursday I said my good-byes and shed a few tears. We got the trailer loaded yesterday. I have to,get a few more boxed today because I ran out.we were able to take more on Thai trip tha we thought. My son and is wife are coMi your a brief visit today. The movers will pick up the big furniture today and we head out tomorrow.

I was listening to the rat-ta-tat-tat-must have been NJ building her ark. emoticon
It was a busy day here-up early to walk as I wasn't sure when the window man would arrive (between 8 and 12) so wanted to be home when DH left with his buddies. Just made it back as they picked him up. I got my ironing caught up, gave Abbie a bath, returned some items to others (a blanket Ellie mistakenly brought here that belongs in the house they rented and a bowl for Barb as she brought us shepherds pie the other night in it) and I worked on removing the bark in my west side flower bed. I got that about 1/3 of the way done and will continue to work on it tomorrow.
We went grocery shopping about 12:30-grabbed Chinese while we were out. That will provide us with 3 meals for $13.
I have been fighting with my printer - can't get it to work. Too late tonight to fight now-have to do it when I am fresh and thinking straight.

{hammer, hammer} What? I can't hear you over the hammering. LOL Well, some of the rain we get over the new days will likely be snow showers. No, seriously!

What a beautiful (weather) day you described. I'm glad you got to enjoy it. Great that your friends went with you to the podiatrist so you all could have lunch together and browse thrift stores. Sounds like fun.

I was able to go to stitching (knitting) tonight and the four of us had a really nice time. Even got some knitting and crocheting done. :) I sure did miss being with those ladies these past weeks.

I'm having trouble with my Kindle, so I'm going to see if I can contact Amazon. I sure hope I don't have to buy a new one - especially since I have 160 'books' on my Kindle, and I don't even know all the titles to have them moved to another Kindle! Wish me luck.

Never, EVER give up. Just pick yourself up and keep going.

NJ I guess if the rain continues you will think about building your own ark! You know the old saying, April showers bring May flowers. Geez though those cold temps are another thing that shouldn't be happening this late.

We are having a picture perfect day-had a bit of rain early this morning-about 1/4 of an inch and now it is about 78 so doesn't get much better for those of us down south. We had 12 at breakfast this morning and as soon as we returned home, we had to let Abbie out and head for my podiatrist appointment as it is a 40 min drive. We met up with friends and they rode down with us and after my treatment, we visited a few thrift stores and then had lunch before heading home.

We are both really tired today so not planning on doing much else today. May try a power nap!

emoticon Jenny, bureaucracies are a royal pain in the neck, aren't they! I am so sorry you are in pain, and don't even have your meds yet - I hope they come soon.

Pat, I think I'd like your Sunday School class. Dealing with Relationships? What a great topic, and always 'in need' as we have so many different kinds of relationships - boss/employee; neighbor; spouse, friends, and etc. Such a series sounds really great.
Dear me, I'm sorry you taxed your back, and hope it's much better today. "Making headway" is really great. After all, you've done the planning, bought the plants, and are already putting them into the ground. I hope you're as proud of yourselves as you ought to be.
I'm glad to hear your window is about to be fixed, the edging is to be installed, and that everything is coming together.

I picked out my new glasses today, and was surprised and DELIGHTED to learn that Medicare is picking up half the cost of this one pair (you might read my latest blog).

We've had enough rain today to drown the plants that have already started blooming. And earlier this week (and probably again tonight) our temps got down to the low 20's. Gee whiz! WHEN is Spring going to come and stay?! emoticon

Never, EVER give up. Just pick yourself up and keep going.

Welcome back Jenny. Hope you get your medicine soon. My DH was just put on Lyrica-dr gave us samples for now. Hoping he doesn't have to stay on it as I know it can be expensive even with insurance.

NJ our Sunday school class is a lot of discussion-Pastor gets it started and then tries to reel us in! It has been dealing a lot on relationships right now and that can really set everyone off. Learning how to respond in a Godly way can sometimes be a real challenge in the heat of the moment. I am so happy we decided to come to Sunday school (hate to admit it has been years since I had).

Vickie & I spent the day working in the park-1st we went to purchase plants and then did the planting. My back is telling me about it tonight too. We didn't get done, but really made headway. Will be glad to get all this spring cleanup and planting done.

Fri our window is going to get fixed and Monday we are to get the new concrete edging installed. Things are coming together.

Nancy hi I am back as Jenny. This is my last name change for good. I thought I would update you on my health in here. Since I closed my other account out. I am still dealing with a lot of pain since my LYRICA has not come in yet. My fibromyalgia flared up on Saturday night after I cleaned up my room. I am going back to Dr. Araujo at the end of the month for head aches.

Yeah, having to wear glasses can be a pain, but I do so enjoy SEEING! LOL The good news is that Medicare will pick up a lot of the cost of this pr - just because I had surgery. Yippee! Being in glasses will basically just be a continuation for me. I've worn them for 59 years already.

Nancy, consider the "sit and wait until just before movers come" as your well-deserved respite between "frantic" preparations for moving. : ) You know you've planned well, and have done a tremendous amount of packing, etc already. Be good to yourself.
Treadmills are heavy suckers, aren't they! Good for you for finding a new home for it.

Pat, is your Sun. School class discussion or more "lecture"? It's great to be under the tutelage of a knowledgeable teacher, but some discussion is also good. We've been in both kinds of classes, and enjoyed both.
How wonderful that you can go out on the pontoon boat. And great to see all that you did.
Oh my. I'm sorry Bill is having headaches due to nerve pain. I hope it goes away so he doesn't have to stay on yet another pill. I have a huge "Daily pill container" that has slots for 4 times a day, 7 days a week. Need every one of them. emoticon

Never, EVER give up. Just pick yourself up and keep going.

Nancy it does make sense to recycle the boxes as they are expensive if you are buying them. I also understand why you want to keep going and packing so it isn't all to do at the last minute. I am sure you will be so happy when this is all behind you. Didn't it feel liberating to let go of the treadmill??? I feel so much better when I get rid of some of the clutter in my house. It is like a weight lifts off of me.

NJ glad to hear you got an explanation on the eyesight but sad you will have to continue to wear glasses. It appears you have a great bible study class. We have started going to Sunday school and really enjoying it-it happens to be led by our pastor and he keeps it interesting. It is a mixed class-a lot of younger couples but some more our age too so it blends all together well.

We took the morning and early afternoon off (after I got the bedclothes washing, did the pills for the week, walked for about an hour) as we went out on Vickie & Sonny's pontoon about 9:30. We were also accompanied by Don, Lin and his sister who is visiting from NY. It was a perfect day to be out on the lake. Cool start but warmed up nicely. We saw a few gators, got to watch a seaplane take off, had a nice lunch and enjoyed watching a flock of pelicans going after a school of fish along with a lot of other birds. We had never seen so many birds at one place on the water before.
Had to get a quick shower when we got home and we were off to Bill's dr appt. They were working us in and we were told to be there at 4:45. Well, it was after 6 when we walked out. Dr. thinks it is nerve pain causing the headaches so he is putting him on Lyrica for a couple of weeks to see if that helps. He gave us samples for now. He is also sending him to see a dermatologist for a skin rash. The office staff has already submitted a new claim for the invoice at Quest with new codes so keep your finger crossed that this will take care of the issue with the bill.
Then when we got home, we had a message that supposedly a problem I had with our daily newspaper has been resolved. Looking good on everything now.

Pat - I understand your way of thinking that less is more. We really do need to thin things out. Maybe once we get settled in we can participate in the neighborhood yard sale. I'm glad Bill's endoscopy went well and hope the inflammation is better soon. I also hope the headaches aren't serious. $400 for blood work is ridiculous! I hope you are able to get part of the bill waived or something to help you.

NJ - I am trying to focus on what I/we've accomplished instead of what's left to do. I'm glad you found out why your sight was blurry, but sorry about the glasses. I've worn glasses since I was in 4th grade. I wear contact now, but still need reading glasses.

I got a few more boxes packed last night. Both bathrooms are empty except for things we may need, and one linen closet is cleared out. My husband told me to stop packing as we are running low on boxes. He said to wait until the night before the movers are coming because we're only taking the essential items this trip. We can unpack and then bring the empty boxes back. I agree wth him, but it's hard to sit and do nothing when there's so much to do. I guess I'll rest while I can and save my strength for the move. I did get rid of my treadmill tonight. I gave it to my cubemate from work.

Pat, I'm so glad Bill IS getting better, and I hope (and pray) his inflammation will clear up completely, and soon.
Yes, our pets can cost us a lot of $$, and that's for things we didn't plan on - like Abbie's ears have been. I'm glad they are fine now.
Uh-oh. Medicare should have given you a heads-up. What a shame to find out how you did that Medicare is doing things differently. You'd think they would prefer to pay for more preventative medicine than wait until people are sick and Medicare probably have to pay more. I'm glad the lab lady is helping out by trying to get Medicare to pay more, at least on this bill. Sometimes it's how it's coded. Good luck with finding another lab that isn't as expensive.
I'm glad they are getting Bill in today instead of making him wait.

I went to a scheduled eye dr visit today, and praise God, the blurriness in my distance vision has a reasonable explanation. When I had the procedures done, they dilated my eyes HUGE to let the dr operate. Afterwards, they put drops in to bring the pupils down....way down. It took days for the pupils to get back to normal.
When they were tiny, it was like squinting and thus the diagnosis of 20/20 distance vision. When the pupils went back to normal, my distance vision became blurry. So I'll be back in glasses as soon as I get them. emoticon Color me disappointed (I had hoped to not need fulltime glasses), but happy emoticon that it's a simple fix. I've worn glasses for 59 years, I guess it won't hurt me to wear them 'til I die or the Lord comes again. emoticon
I'm planning to go to a women's meeting tonight. It's only twice a month, and I have so enjoyed the two I've been to so far. The lady leading them really knows the Bible, and she doesn't present a dry, boring lesson. They used to meet mornings (when I worked at the animal shelter) and if I'm not mistaken, they don't meet over the summer.

Things went well for DH today-the ulcer is healed up but he still has some inflammation in his esophagus so will have to be careful yet with his eating.
Abbie got a clean bill of health on her ears today-of course it was another $60 to find that out! This has been one expensive ear infection.
I got a shock today-an invoice from the lab we go to for our bloodwork. Medicare denied coverage for some of the tests and they hit me with a bill over $400. I stopped by our dr's office after taking Abbie to the vet to ask about this. Seems medicare has changed how they pay on things and it is really causing an issue. Instead of practicing preventative medicine it seems they would prefer one just gets sick. She is going to see if she can get them to cover some of the charges but isn't sure about it but at least she is willing to try. I will get future tests done at a different lab that isn't nearly as expensive. She set up an appt. for Bill tomorrow late afternoon to let doc check him out-he has had a headache for 2 weeks and I am worrying about it and she agreed. We both have appointments on the 15th but she thought that was too far away for Bill. Thankful she knows us and was willing to work him in.

emoticon Nancy, I'm in my late 60's and I'm still learning (remembering what I already 'learned') so when I start feeling overwhelmed, I try to stop and think of what I have ALREADY accomplished. It tends to put things in perspective, rather than thinking of all I want/need to accomplish. For example, I want to be healthier and to lose another 45 or so pounds. That's daunting, until I remember that I am taking steps towards both goals, and I didn't gain those pounds in a week or month, so it's going to take longer to reach that goal.

OK, enough preaching. emoticon
Considering how much your BIL and his girlfriend help you do the other day, all I can say is WOW! and DOUBLE WOW! That's great! Having packed my MIL out of the house she lived in for 30+ years, and knowing how long it took to do the packing, I have a great appreciation for all you've already accomplished. More power to ya.

We had a 79 degree day the other day, and now we're back into the low-mid 40's with overnight lows in the low 20's. Huh?!? And the wind could be like our usual winter winds - gusts to 50+ mph - summer winds aren't bad). So I know what you mean about your weather.

Pat, I too, hope Abbie was ok. Poor dear. I'm sorry she's scared of bad weather.
Your successes at the yard sales is phenomenal. Glad you're able to come across such great 'finds.'
I forget what it was we watched on tv (a news story most likely) that caused me to turn to DH and make a comment about cleaning out our basement. You would NOT believe the mess down there - complete with tax returns, bank statements, etc going back 20 or more years. And it's not like 'out of sight, out of mind' as we have a small freezer down there that DH sees whenever we grocery shop. Sigh. I guess I just need to take him as he is - hoarding and all. But I do think I'll put a 'mask' on and sweep a bit around the piles of stuff.

Good luck to Abbie at the vet this afternoon. And I hope all has gone well for Bill. I imagine an endoscopy is no fun. Hopefully, the dr won't find any problems - Bill's had enough for a lifetime.

I'm almost finished with a really good book, and read at and after breakfast this morning. Finally took myself in hand and did some housework. I think I MIGHT do the hard floors tomorrow, but I do have an appt tomorrow - with the eye dr, I think. I lose track, which is why we keep a large calendar on the freezer door and write in all our appts, etc. emoticon

Never, EVER give up. Just pick yourself up and keep going.

Nancy it sounds like you accomplished quite a bit this weekend. Maybe as you unpack and put things away you will "purge" some items. I didn't get as much done as I had planned this winter so now plan to do it when it gets too hot to do much outside. I am really one for having as little "extra" items these days-Less is More in my book. I guess I am thinking of the kids. If something happens to us, I want them to be able to just come in and clean out the personal items and then they can sell the house with ease. Down here most homes sell completely furnished so that will make it pretty simple. Glad a couple more trips will do it for the move.
We have enjoyed a perfect day. The rain yesterday dropped our temps and lowered the humidity. We are to have a week of temps in the 70's and down into the 50's at night. I definitely will be enjoying that.
Bill has an endoscopy in the morning and Abbie goes to the vet in the afternoon so will be a full day for me.

NJ - I guess we have accomplished a lot. Thanks for pointing that out. I've been a little overwhelmed and didn't feel like I had accomplished much. I do know what you mean about the weather. We had a couple of days where we could open the windows and then it dropped again. Today it was super windy all day and tomorrow will be the same.

Pat - I'm glad you were successful at the sales. I hope Abbie wasn't too scared. My husband said we'll probably have two more trips. We have u til May 13th do we'll be fine.

My BIL and his girlfriend came today and we got the entire basement emptied! We also got the spare bedroom closet emptied and three boxes of glasses and coffee mugs packed. I keep asking myself why we have so much extra stuff, but neither one of us wants to get rid of it. Maybe we'll be forced to in the new house. I don't think we'll have as much room to store junk.

Nancy sounds like you have been busy also. Hoping that this weekend you get a lot packed up. Sounds like a few more trips if you are going to move all the small stuff. Hoping you are able to get it moved with no difficulty.

NJ I know you are excited to be going to ballgames again. Hoping you enjoy going back to your stitching class. It is good to get involved with something we really enjoy.

Even with rain, we braved the weather this morning and went to 2 large community yard sales. I got a nice dressy black sweater at one and a new alarm clock as ours isn't working all the time. At the other one I got a brand new pair of shorts for DH-still had the tags on them. While we were gone the weather got really nasty and it scared our Abbie. Wishing we had left her with a friend instead of home alone.

Haha. Yes, Pat, being so busy in retirement does make me wonder how we ever found time for paid work. I'm sure it's going to be somewhat sad when there aren't enough people to have the breakfasts, but I'm sure you, Bill and Vickie and Sonny will enjoy regular meals together. Too bad having friends who don't spend only 1/2 the year nearby, and yet great having friends who ARE nearby. :)
Putting things (decorations, dishes and whatever else) away dirty would be awful. If you don't spend the time to clean them now, you'll just have to do it when you get them out again.
Your plans for the entry island sound really nice. I'm glad the maintenance men have done the heavy work. Of course, you and Vickie will have many hours of backbreaking work, making it look great, as you always do.

WOW, Nancy!! You guys have gotten a lot done, and good planning for the rest of it. emoticon I knew you would get it all organized and taken care of - the hard work and lots of it are paying off. I'm so excited for you. Now you'll be able to spend so much more time with your DH. emoticon

Yes, I am disappointed that I'll have to wear glasses fulltime again, but I'll live with it. At least I won't have the cloudiness of cataracts.

Josh's hi school team has several ballgames these next few weeks, but I'll be missing one or two so I can resume going to stitching - haven't been for over a month!

Yesterday's hi was 79 - much higher than our usual, but, OH! so appreciated. Especially since today isn't to get above the low 50's and tomorrow it'll be 43 degrees. sigh. I wish our weather would even out - at least to 'normal'. Ya know what I mean? emoticon

Several years ago I went to an "Extraordinary Women's" Conference in Roanoke, VA - about 6 hrs drive from here. It was wonderful, to say the least. Uplifting speakers and music ("NewSong" and "MercyMe" in concert). I don't want to go alone and nobody else from church seems interested, so I haven't been back. I give you this background, because I found out that there's another of those conferences this Fall, just a few miles from where my daughter lives! I'm waiting to get details (cost, etc) but have told DH that I want to fly down, stay with our daughter and take her to the conference. Smarty-pants said, "well, WE could drive down there and (he could) spend time with our grandkids." I was selfishly was hoping to go alone. I couldn't in all good conscience deny him the opportunity. emoticon More later.

I hope you all are having a great weekend.

Hello friends! I can't believe I haven't posted since mid March. Things are falling into place. My husband took one of his Harley's, our spare bed and a recliner so he could stay at the house the week he was there. Last weekend we loaded all the stuff we had put into storage for staging purposes and a lot from the basement. I took my last three days of PTO and went with him. I got the house cleaned and ready for us to move into. Everything we took was stuff that will be in storage so we didn't do much unpacking. Today my BIL and his girlfriend are coming to help finish emptying the basement and possibly start packing. We decided to hire a moving company to get the furniture. I have a piano and he has the pool table. It really isn't going to cost much for just the big stuff. I work 4 days next week and the movers are coming either Friday or Saturday. I'm not sure how many more trips we'll have to take to get everything there. Hopefully we can fit most of it on the trailer but he still had two more bikes.

Pat - You sure have been busy with your cleaning! I got a good start on Spring cleaning at the new place. I didn't do the windows yet, but I cleaned the insides of all the cabinets and the shelves in the closet.

Nancy - I'm glad you're healing from the surgery. Sorry you didn't get the resu,to you expected and will still need glasses.

I better go start breakfast, we have a busy day ahead of us. I'll try to check in more frequently.

NJ great to have you back with us. Sounds like you too are busy, busy, busy. Doesn't it make you wonder how we ever had time to work???

Today was breakfast day and we still had 14 show up. We will lose 2 next week and probably 2 more the following week so our numbers will continue to dwindle till it is just 4 of us. At that point, we will probably call it off till fall.

Vickie & I got the Easter decorations picked up, washed, dried and put back into the tubs and stored till next year. Always takes longer to put them up than to set them out-the washing takes time but I won't put them away dirty and they have to be dry or they will mildew!!

Our big park project is redoing our entry island. That is the 1st thing that people see when they enter the park so we thought it needed a big facelift. We had the maint. men take out everything except the 2 palm trees, 2 butterfly trees and 2 crepe myrtles and 1 ornamental shrub. Then they dug it down and we are putting in fresh mulch and now we have to decide what we will plant in there! Guess that will be our project for next week.

As you can see, I'm finally getting back to writing on Spark. Boy! Have I ever missed keeping up with y'all. :)

Nancy, I hope your emotions stay 'settled' so you can do all you need to for the move, without feeling all at loose ends. Moving is always challenging, but when you're organized, it eventually falls into place. Yes, when the reality sets in you'll be looking forward to the move, and your organization skills will kick in. I'm rooting for you, and have every confidence that you'll be on top it all.

Pat, it was a good thing you washed windows so you discovered the broken one. I'm so glad the windows are under warrantee, sure makes a difference for the replacement - you not having to pay for a new window.
Super! I'm glad your chairs have arrived, as I know are too. And it's great that you have the spring cleaning work well in hand.
What's the big project for the park? I've so enjoyed the pictures you've posted from time to time. You and Vickie do such a beautiful job of sprucing up the park.
I'm sorry you have to wear glasses all the time, since you aren't used to doing that.

While right after surgery (both eyes) the dr said I have 20/20 distance vision, but more recently my distance vision is somewhat blurry. I suspect the astigmatism I always had, has gotten worse. And I read online that cataract surgery can cause astigmatism, so that just underscores my thinking. I see the dr again on the 5th, and will most definitely ask questions, fuss. sigh. I did get readers a few days after the second surgery, and a strap to wear around my neck, attaching to the glasses so I don't have to search for them. :)

Josh is playing JV baseball for the high school. The varsity team has two fairly good catchers who are seniors, so that's why Josh is stuck with the JV team. But next year......

I drove this morning for the first time in a month. Darby needed her monthly bath, and DH was working at the shelter. The good news is that the groomer is only a half mile from our house, so even though I have less than fully sharp sight, I managed just fine. Still, I want sharp vision back! Guess it means fulltime glasses again. sigh. I hate getting old - that's what generally causes cataracts.

Y'all have a great weekend.
NJ

Never, EVER give up. Just pick yourself up and keep going.

Nancy how is the move going? Wondering exactly what date you will physically move. Hoping it is all coming together for you,

NJ I am praying that the eyes are improving and that you are doing well. I see my eye dr next month and hoping he can help me-I hate to think of having surgery but getting tired of not being able to see either! I am finally reduced to wearing glasses pretty much all of the time!!

We have been busy around here. The new chairs have arrived and loving having them. We had the trim on our house painted this week and glad to have that job done. Now trying to get the rest of the spring clean up work done here. I have a big project we will be doing in the park soon so need to be ready to do that.

Nancy I am sure you feel like things are moving at warp speed and you will have ups and downs about the move but it will be so great to finally be where you and DH are together instead of spending so much time apart. Hope you get the help you need for the move.

NJ do hope the eyes are continuing to improve.

I worked this morning and did a thorough cleaning of the living and family rooms. I washed windows (8) and while doing that found one of our new windows is broken so have to call the company as we have a lifetime warranty. It is always something.
This afternoon we met with Roger & Ruthie and we made a visit to the Cares Center-she to get flea medicine for her cats and I got No Scoot pills for Abbie. Then we grabbed a bite of lunch before checking out a couple of thrift stores. I picked up 4 books for our great granddaughters and will get them in the mail next week so they arrive before Easter.
I hope to finish cleaning the house tomorrow or at least the dining room and kitchen! We have a Poker Run to do also and I need to run several errands. Everything seems to take longer than I plan!!!

Pat - It's exciting to be getting new chairs! I'm glad you're getting your project done before it gets too terribly hot. Of course, it's probably already pretty hot where you are. I'm glad your dental appoint, net went well.

NJ - I'm very thankful that things are falling into place. Once we finally made our decision, things moved right along. I hope all is well with your eyes. I'll be sure to read your blogs.

My emotions have settled down today. I think I was in shock yesterday. I really didn't expect to hear back from the lady, and then I didn't think we'd accept the offer. I spoke to our son last night to tell him we sold it and see if he can come help load a few things on Satirday. I ended up crying. We don't see him very often, even though he lives 45 minutes away. It's still going t be hard. I sure I'll get used to it. Once I start packing and the reality sinks it the excitement will kickin too.

As NJ said, Praise the Lord! Nancy so happy that they upped their offer enough that you could live with it and now on to the next phase of your life. Bill & I look at each other and say, Nothing is forever. Enjoy this phase but be willing to move on to the next. I too hope the move goes smoothly for you.
NJ I am so happy that you have the cataract surgery behind you. What a relief and now to heal and get finished with all those drops. I do remember well how that goes - it hasn't been that long since Bill's last surgery.
We went to breakfast this morning-19 there today. Expect our numbers to slowly drop in the coming weeks as folks head north. Eventually we will stop as there will just be 4 of us left! We got whenever we feel like it and to different places but you can't do that with a large group-you have to have a restaurant ready to take care of all of you!
I had my dental cleaning and no issues so very glad to have that behind me again. We got the shirts ordered for Bill's rock club and I have an appointment set up for next week to get an estimate on our concrete edging. We will go with the same company we used before to make sure it all matches.
Now I need to get busy doing the last of my cleaning to get ready for the chairs!!

Hoorah! Praise the Lord for making that lady come up in price and that everything is falling into place! I pray everything will continue smoothly and you and your DH can live together again. emoticon I know living in Arkansas will be an adjustment, but I also know you'll do it. Good luck with the actual move. Take a deep breath then let it out slowly - you guys have planned, and now all you have to do is execute your plans.

Pat, having lived in the St. Louis area for several years, and having gone to some Cardinals games, they are special to me, too. If there they have a televised game (and we're going to watch a game on tv), it's the Cards.
Great that you have an electrician friend to help out. Just like plumbers, electricians can be expensive.
I'm glad to hear Abbie's ears are beginning to clear up, and hope that continues until she's all well.
I'm glad you've been getting the anti-fire help with the rain. I hope you get enough rain to be good for you, but not so much like many states down south!
I'm glad you have a date for the delivery of your chairs. It must have seemed like a long time after ordering them - at least it would have for me, as impatient as I can be.

If y'all have read my two cataract blogs, you're pretty much caught up on me. I know I'll continue to heal, and as I do, I'll be able to fully return to normal activities. I'm looking forward to be good enough to drive again, although I confess that being chauffeured around is also nice. LOL

Never, EVER give up. Just pick yourself up and keep going.

Pat - We sold the house! When I called the realtor Tuesday night I told her the offer was an insult and we weren't even going to counter. I said if she wants to make a real offer we'll consider it. She called yesterday and increased the offer by $7,000. I texted my husband and he asked what I thought. I replied that based in what he said Tuesday night, it wasn't enough to. He texted back, "Sell it". And a second text, " put in your notice." I called he realtor and confirmed that she had the financing approved, accepted the offer, and verbally put in my notice. I have to put it in writing and after speaking to my husband, decided my last day will be April 8. It's three weeks, but I want to take three days off before then to start moving. We bought a cargo trailer and will just have friends help us. He has people lined up there to help unload and our son and others will help on this end. My emotions are all over the place.

Nancy that was pretty much an insult but then some people are thinking they can dictate pretty much whatever. Sorry it wasn't an offer you could live with. As you said, the selling season is just starting.
Still hot down here-88 for our high but cooler and wetter weather is supposedly on tap for the next 3-4 days and it will be welcome as we are extremely dry.
My chairs arrived so they will be delivered next Wed. I am looking forward to getting them and finishing things up in the living room.
I got the approval to do the concrete edging on the back side of our house so that will be the last major project we plan to undertake for this year. We are getting it done early!

Pat - You can uncross now. I sure hope you're not stiff from being a pretzel. emoticon The realtor finally called today. The offer was a joke. $15,000 under our asking price and we would have to pay the realtor fees on top of that! We are selling by ow dear to save the realtor commission. Oh well. It's just now the beginning of selling/buying season. We can wait for a while.

Nancy had my fingers and toes crossed that you had gotten an offer-guess I will have to do a pretzel and cross my arms and legs too!! emoticon
We are still quite warm-high of 88 today but maybe a cool down this weekend and some rain which we really need-there are fire cropping up - sure do not want to deal with a bad fire season.
Got the laundry done and had the ironing caught up (I ironed while Bill was at coffee and donuts this morning - he takes a gluten free treat to enjoy) but now have more!! This is a busy week-seems I have something scheduled for every single day.

Nancy that is good that you have two people interested in your house-maybe that will get one of them thinking and make an offer. Hopefully by now you have gotten one. Sorry you haven't had decent weather = ours has been warmer than normal. Crazy all over.
We had to repair our ceiling fan in the Florida room. Luckily we have a friend who is an electrician! He came and took care of it for us today.
Abbie got another dose of medicine at the vet today. Her ears seem to be doing much better. She has to go back in next Mon for the vet to recheck them.

Pat - I bet you're relieved that the edging project is done! We haven't had weather nice enough (except the one nice day) to do any yard work. I really hope the house sells before I have to get too deep I it.

NJ - We haven't been able to open windows since Tuesday. It's been cooler and rainy or cloudy since then. I like the smell of laundry that's been dried outdoors too. I haven't had a clothes line in years though so I can't tell you when the last time was. I'm glad your vision improved and hope your surgery today went well.

We had a busy weekend. I got a call Thursday night from someone who wanted to see the house and then the realtor from Tuesday called. The lady wanted to bring her son with her before making a decision. It turned out that the people who came in the morning were the very first couple that came back in February. I thought they weren't interested because our basement isn't finished. They really like the house too. Then the lady from Tuesday came with her son, husband, and three grandkids. Her husband likes it too! I told the realtor that we have another couple who are very interested. She called yesterday and said she expected to be calling me today with an offer! I haven't heard yet, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. The young couple from Saturday came yesterday with a contractor to see what it will cost to finish the basement. Both couples seem very interested! Now they just need to make an offer.

Hi Pat Thanks for your good wishes.
I'm not a fan of DST, but yeah, here it is, so I have to make the best of it that I can. With DST, school kids are out on the edges of streets waiting for school buses in the dark. Don't like that at all.

Bless her heart (or, in this case, her ears). Is Abbie doing any better? I know these things can take a few treatments, and I'm hoping she'll be all better soon.

Basketball - I know it isn't everybody's cuppa tea :) but I confess to being so proud of Weber. They play Xavier this first round. I won't keep writing unless they advance way up the ladder. LOL

Have a super week.

NJ wishing you all the best tomorrow. May the surgery go well and by the end of the week I pray you will be seeing and reading just like before the cataracts!
Hope your team does well in the tournament. I don't follow basketball so never pay attention to it, but many in our community do. We have Ohio and Illinois residents living across from each other and that is quite a rivalry!
I am not sure I was ready for DST but hopefully will enjoy it now that it is back with us. I certainly didn't want to get up today. I even took a nap this afternoon! We had a shower and it lulled me right to sleep.
I have to take Abbie back to the vet tomorrow for another treatment for her ears.

I cried as I read the blog of another of my Spark Friends IUHRYTR. He also lives in Florida, and routinely takes in strays. I ask that you pray for Lou.

No, I haven't noticed any of the flowers here abouts being nipped in the bud, although you'd think it would happen. DH and I only have rose bushes, and I haven't seen any problems (so far). We got a wee bit of rain today, may get more, but will get more Monday - of course! I have my second cataract surgery tomorrow morning. Oh well, at least it'll be done, and I can hope for getting readers later in the week. :)

I really hate it when we get pollen that and having the cars in the garage doesn't help any.

I'm so glad the oncologist gave Bill a good report. I'll keep praying for his complete recovery.

Great price on the Miracle Grow. I'm glad you found it, especially since you're buying for the park.

Our temps are still above normal - we're in the low-mid 50's now, and I think our norm is maybe 5-8 degrees lowers. Still, I was encouraged with so many warm days this past week. Two days ALMOST hit 80. Wow! I was impressed, and oh, so comfortable outdoors.

I guess I won't be reading or knitting much for a few days, until I get readers. But watching tv should be just fine. :)

Speaking of watching TV, last night Weber State clinched the Big Sky Conference title in another nail-biter. It was great to watch, but tense as the clock ticked down. They won by 3 points at the very last second. They're guaranteed a berth in the NCAA tournament, but we don't yet know who they'll play; I think that info gets announced tonight. emoticon

I'll write again when I'm able to see. LOL

Never, EVER give up. Just pick yourself up and keep going.

NJ happy you have had a few nice days. I know that in STL we always had warm days and then cooler ones and a lot of the times it would nip the flowers that got confused! Hope it hasn't nipped any of yours.
We have been in the upper 80's and going to stay in the 80's for at least the next week. Maybe some rain on Sun/Mon. However, no big cool down with it.
I was up early and took Abbie for her walk before starting the 1st of 2 loads of laundry and then I got busy cleaning up my car. What a mess. The pollen is horrible and my car was more yellow than seafoam green.
DH had to see the oncologist at 10:15. His numbers are good-he had lost 6 lbs since his last visit and they all though he was looking good. I am praying we really have found out the source of his problem and are on the way to getting it "fixed". It is going to take a long time to get his body back in sync and healed inside and we know that.
We went to Lowes after his dr visit. I got my weed & feed for my yard, a gallon of paint to do our trim, and some miracle grow for the park-it is on sale for 1/2 price at the moment if anyone needs any.

21 at breakfast! Wow! What a good-sized group. You find the coolest bargains. I'm in awe.
I started my other eye drops this morning (3 days prior to surgery) I have both charts on my counter and I was careful this morning (when I do the most of them). I shudder to think what a mess it would be otherwise. In addition to what his office gave me, I have a piece of notebook paper with the time(s) for the next drop of each medicine - I can then tell that at 12:30, 5:30 and 10:30 (for example) I take the 2-4th drops of one medicine. Helps keep me straight as all drops aren't at the same time. "Just" about 3 more weeks for my left eye then 4 weeks after surgery on my right eye.

We had three beautiful, warm (close to 80 degree) days this week, and now it's cooled down to the 50's - still above normal for us. Beautiful, sunny days. Gives me hope that we'll have a real Spring one of these weeks.....you know, one where it doesn't get warm then chilly again. :)

Have a blessed and happy weekend.

NJ I too am glad you have that chart to mark the drops off-it can become confusing for sure. I have trouble just doing my daily drops morning and night!!! I wait till after my shower some mornings and then can't remember if I did it!!!! Easiest if I do it before I get out of bed and as soon as I get in bed.
We had 21 at breakfast this morning and after that we went to Clermont. V&S rode along as I had my monthly laser treatment at the podiatrist. We also did a few thrift stores-I found a pr of jeans for $1 and 3 prs of capris for 99 cents each. Now I need to find some items to take out of my closet-something in-something has to go out!!!

Nancy, the comments you heard are SO encouraging. All my fingers and toes are crossed for you. emoticon
We've also been having weather conducive to having windows open. It's been wonderful! When we can first open the windows after winter, I always feel like I've been let out of prison. LOL I just wish we could hang our laundry outdoors, but the homeowners association won't allow it. :( Clothes hung out smell so nice, not to mention it helps with the electric bill. Even when I could hand the laundry out, I did dry towels in the dryer so they'd be softer.
We didn't get any appreciable snow this year, except for the worse single snowfall we've ever had - all 30+ inches of it in one storm. Oh, we did get some more snow now and then, but often it was more just a covering and melted off quickly.

Pat, I know it was especially hard to do the edging with that side of your house being on a hillside, so I know you are really, really glad to be finished. I'm glad you were able to do it, and very glad you're finished. I've reached a point in my life that I don't much care what passers-by think any more. If it gives them a laugh, great; and if they think I'm nuts, well, I AM. emoticon
How soon are your chairs due to arrive? I'm wishing you good luck in getting all that cleaning done before the chairs do arrive.

I just got a reminder call from my dr's office to start the drops in my right eye tomorrow. I already had my drops and paperwork on the kitchen counter where I keep the stuff for my left eye - so I'm ready. Tuesday was my last day to use one medicine in that eye. Yesterday and today I only had to do 1 drop of one medicine and a drop four times of another. I'll continue that until 30 March, simultaneously using drops in my right eye. Good thing the dr's office has given me paperwork to check off when I use each drop - that should keep me straight. Haha
The distance vision in my left eye is much, much better and I finally figured out that the problem I'm having is when I wear my glasses (right lens only), because my right eye needs a change anyway, so the two eyes 'fight' over the distance vision. I spend a lot of time with one closed. LOL I expect that problem to be resolved after Monday's surgery. Then I'll just need readers. I hope he says I can/should get them soon after surgery so I can read and be on the computer. Did I ever tell you I make a lousy patient?! emoticon

Thank you for being such patient friends. I know I've been very fussy (other words might be more appropriate); but I will chalk some of it up to not realizing all what to expect these early weeks after surgery. I wish they'd told me some of these things instead of giving me the brochure with the drawings showing some of the surgery.....like the probe that goes into my eye. ICK!! I won't soon get that image out of my mind.

Never, EVER give up. Just pick yourself up and keep going.

NJ do pray that your sight comes back-I think you said you see the dr tomorrow. I am surprised your vision has not improved-at least for distance by now. Anxious to see what the dr says.

I got the edging finished today-I saved the worst for last-the west side of the house is on a hillside so makes it fun to balance. I stood for a bit but did over half of it either crawling on my knees or scooting on my hinny! I am sure the folks going by wondered about my sanity but....it had to be done. I managed to squeeze out enough in the can of sealer to do it all. I was worried I would not have enough but....I did.
Now I have to move on to more spring projects. I need to finish the window washing and will have to finish cleaning in the living room, dining room and family room before my chairs arrive. I started purging the hutch in the DR but didn't get it finished so....that is on my radar if we get a rainy day.

Pat - Good luck with the edging. That sounds like hard work. I hope Bill continues feeling better. This winter did go fast, answer were fairly lucky this year. Wedding have any super cold days and very little snow.

NJ - It was nice the able to have the windows open. I hope you are an,e t,get your readers soon. It would be so frustrating to not be able to see clearly.

I think she really liked the house! I satin the living room and let her and the realtor tour on their own. I kept hearing, "I like this" and she said her husband would like the garage and the natural woodwork. When they were getting ready to leave she said she really likes my house. I have t heard anything yet, but am expecting a call.

Nancy, you made a good decision about the windows: it they look fine, don't expend the energy. Mmmm, being able to open windows and let in fresh air is so nice. I think we don't always recognized that 'winter air' is so stagnant, until we open our windows in the Spring. : )
I hope that lady likes your home so much that she's making an offer on it.....preferably an offer that matches what you want to get for it.

Golly, Pat, you sure have a lot on your plate - ironing, washing windows, sealing contcrete edging, and all the things you do for the Park. I don't know where you get the energy - I get tired just reading all you do in a day. emoticon

I'm sure winter seemed to fly by because you were have such a good time with friends. In additional to your 'other' friends, having MO friends must be a real treat - someone from 'home'. Yes, I realize FL is home now, but if you're like so many of the rest of us, MO will always have a special place in your heart - especially since you have family there.
I'm so glad Bill is beginning to feel better, and I hope his heals soon. He's certainly had a hard row to hoe over this.

DH just washed my hair for the second time post-surgery. I sit in a chair and bend backwards over the kitchen sink.. Of course I wear the hard plastic guard and cover that with a small towel to keep water off my eye. Luckily we have one of those sinks that the faucet pulls out, so it was easier for him. I bought some dry shampoo yesterday, but my hair was so filthy that I don't think it would have helped much. Normally, I wash my hair every other day, so I'm going to try the dry shampoo on Friday. We'll see.

I finally figured out that my one remaining lens (right eye) needs a change anyway, so no wonder I've been having trouble reading! I'll take a page from my DH's book, and your suggestion and give Wal-Mart some business for my readers. I have no desire to buy prescription ones. I'll ask the dr tomorrow when he thinks/recommends I can get readers after this second surgery. I hope it soon, otherwise I won't be able to see well enough to be on the computer, much less read! emoticon

Today is our third lovely day in a row - I'm not paying any attention to the coming days - they will be what they will be. Yesterday it got to 70, and the day before we were almost there. DH washed a car this morning and one yesterday. I sat out and soaked up a bit of Vitamin D, and Miss Darby rolled in the grass then laid in the sun. She loves doing that.

Y'all have weather good enough to enjoy.

Nancy I am hoping things went well and the person loved your house and you are able to get it sold quickly. I need to finish washing my windows-got started and then got sidetracked. Guess I will get back to that after I get the concrete edging sealed.
Good luck with the new house and the move.

NJ I am hoping every day you can see better. DH was able to get his glasses about a week after his surgery I think. Hopefully you will be able to get yours quickly. Some of our friends just bought cheap readers one can get at Wal-Mart-some drs even tell people to do that rather than spend a lot on prescription glasses.

I got another section of edging done today and hopefully I can get done tomorrow but I am not sure if I have enough sealer to do it.

We had our final get together this afternoon with our camping friends. Most will be heading to their northern homes soon. Seems the winter has flown by. We are to get together with some MO friends the 25th as they will be heading back north at the end of Mar.

Bill just felt bad the one evening-it seems avoiding any food with gluten is helping his tummy but I know it is going to take months to heal his tummy - it has been attacking his insides for several years so isn't going to heal too quickly.

NJ - I didn't end up washing windows, only the kitchen. I washed one other one and it didn't seem to make that much difference so I decided not to mess with it. The house is clean and the wi does are open letting in fresh air. It's nice out today. Don't apologize for being "fussy". I'd be the same way. I don't like to be in pain, or inconvenienced.

What a treat to go out for breakfast with friends. You had a really good breakfast. Good for you for resisting the fattening foods. I would still have been in bed, too, when your friends came. :)
Oh my! I hate it when insurance rates go up because of SOMEONE'S bad driving. I could accept it (although no happily) if I'D had accidents.
Thank you, I'd love to join you at the luncheon. emoticon And for that matter, I'm sure it would be fun to walk with you, too.
Sealing the concrete edging sounds like a lot of work - no wonder your back hurt. Hope that doing the back of the house wasn't as painful.
What a busy time running errands (including taking Abbie to the vet). Poor little girl - infections in both ears, and all the other things she needed done. I hope she likes her vet - that would make visits simpler.
Oh my. I hope Bill's problem is unrelated to allergies. I would think gluten would be enough of a problem. Other than his problem last night, do you think going gluten-free is helping? I sure hope it's no more than that.

Nancy, what wonderful news that you're about to close on the new house. Here's hoping that lady truly IS interested in your current house, and more than that, that she buys it! How wonderful to have that off you hands and allowing you to move. Yes, it is a wild time trying to keep a house clean and 'show ready' but I'm sure you're up to it - you always work hard, not only weekends, but after your job, too. P. S. Once you finish washing windows, you can come East and do mine. emoticon
I have my fingers crossed that everything will go smoothly - closing on your current house, all the moving details, the move itself, settling into your new house. God bless you.

The biggest problem with my eye is that I didn't know what to expect post-surgery. The pupil is still teeny-tiny, but I think that's supposed to be be normal again after awhile (what's "awhile"??) I see the dr this Thursday, then Friday start the drops for my other eye, all the while keeping up with dropping my first eye. This is going to be interesting, but I'm already thinking that after surgery (Mon the 14th) I may snooze a lot and/or watch tv. I plan to ask how soon I can plan on getting readers after the second surgery. Otherwise, I won't be able to see anything close, not even my computer. sigh. Oh well, it'll be what it'll be. I'm sorry I've so fussy. I'm not a good patient - maybe better than most men, but still not a GOOD patient. emoticon

I've SO enjoyed the warmer weather - warmer than usual, but after the really cold stuff earlier in 2016, I'm ready for Spring to come AND STAY! Hmmmm, maybe the colder Jan-Feb was due to the very warm Dec we had. What-ev-er. LOL

I hope everything goes well for y'all.

Hello friends! I'm still around. I've been busy keeping the house clean and "show ready". We've jumped through all the hoops and are scheduled to close on the new house next Tuesday. I got a call from a realtor last night. She had called several weeks ago asking to see he house and I missed her call. When I called back, I got her voice mail and she never called back. I assumed Ed her client was no longer interested. Well, her client is very interested I seeing the house, has had her eye on it this entire time! She only comes to town occasionally. She's coming today and still wants to see the house. I called in today so I'm available to show it. I didn't want to miss a chance to sell it. The realtor made it sound like she's very interested. I sure hope so. I got most of the regular cleaning done last night. I'm going to wash Windows today.

NJ - I'm sorry you're having so much trouble with your eye after surgery. I hope all goes well for you and you recover soon.

Pat- You sound busy as usual
