Jenny, learning the balance between school and the rest of your life takes time. emoticon Wishing you the best with the grades!

Estelle, your results are fantastic! emoticon Obviously you're doing some good stuff, so keep it up!

Just a reminder, I've created a new thread for us to start using - General Discussion Thread. Nobody is going to come beat you up (or post nasty comments) if you use this thread, but I just figured that this one is getting awfully long, and decided to start at new one. : )

Good morning everyone:

Back to work :( Oh well, I am back to a regular routine and less food. How funny it is that when I am at home all I want to do is eat, hee hee.

I must have lost inches or something as I am 6 lbs. heavier than I was in the summer of 2011 and my pants are very big this morning. I guess the ST is working. I am even going to add another 10 minutes of ST to my cardio workouts to keep up with the ST :)

Hope everyone has a great day!

Estelle

Sharon, I hope it doesn't take you long to figure out the grocery store near you. I always kinda hate going to a new one. Very disconcerting trying to figure out why stuff is located. Sometimes the customer service counter people can give you at least a list of what is on which aisle. Good luck. Hope you had a good weekend with Jennifer and Jim.

Nancy, sorry it was so windy. Wow! I can hardly imagine trying to bike (trike) when the wind is so strong that you get a sore neck. Praise the Lord for the progress your FIL is making! I'm so happy for you all. Congratulations on winning the 50-50's. I sometimes buy tickets at the boys' baseball games, but I've never even come close to winning. LOL

Laura, a roast for Thanksgiving sounds good; but I'm too traditional - I 'have to' have a turkey. I just have to watch my portions closely. Glad your (and Jenny's) backs are getting better. I hope Jenny copes well with her CPAP machine. I have the style with the little 'nose pillows' that are anything but comfortable. And to top it off, I have a deviated septum, so the pillows hurt more. emoticon I should ask a dr for a different style, but that would mean finding a new pulmonologist, and I just can't get excited about 'breaking in' a new dr. Will have to do it one of these days anyway.

Jenny, glad your back is doing better. Sounds like you really pour your heart and soul into exercise. Take care. Yes, studying is very important, and I wish you all the good luck in the world as you balance things in your life.

Estelle, good luck with getting on track again. I know you can do it. emoticon

I feel so good (mentally at least) for doing six days a week of ST. I'm pleased with my results so far - that I even HAVE good results. I've been so frustrated for so long with neither losing weight nor inches - now things are budging a bit. (I blogged it today). I hope it will continue. Since I don' have other plans for tomorrow, well, except for some housework (time and past time to do that), I do plan to try the treadmill for a LITTLE while, at a slow speed. I'd like to work up to longer periods of time - it's just walking.

Y'all have a restful, pleasant night.

Never, EVER give up. Just pick yourself up and keep going.

Laura I'm glad to hear you're feeling better. A Thanksgiving roast sounds better than turkey to me.
Nancy, FIL has made great progress, how wonderful!
Jenny, good luck with your studies.
Estelle, enjoy your day off!
I love all of Jillian's videos. I think the newest one I have is Ripped in 30 and has 4 levels! I worked really hard on the elliptical this morning, so even though I ate too much, I feel a lot better. Must. Get. More. Veggies!
Have a fantastic week, friends!

Good morning everyone:

Still at home today for the long weekend. Not a good weekend eating wise, but I did exercise, so all is good. Today, back on track with food and of course, going to do my boot camp video after breakfast.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Laura - I'm glad to hear that you back is better. I have the 30 Day Shred. It's pretty hard, I definitely feel like I've had a good workout when I'm done.

Jenny - that sounds like s great workout!

I didn't make very good food choices this weekend and my scale showed it today. I am getting back to weighing/measuring everything. I moved up to level two of the Shred and can definitely feel it!

To both nancy's my back is a little better todayand so is Jennifer's. She will be even better when she gets a CPap machine to help her sleep. She ends up tired most days and has to take naps during the day. Nancy boy are ylou the lucky one winning the 50/50 raffle! i could sure use extra money now too. What Jillian video do you have; we got her Six Pack Abs now and I tried it with Jenny and it was hard! I was sweating before I was done.Sharon I know what you mean about grocery stores; I still have trouble finding stuff at the new Walmart in Marinette.
It makes it harder when a store rearranges their aisle on you too. We have decided to have a roast with vegetables for Thaksgiving instead of Turkey. Frosty you make me hungry talking about grilled shrimp salad. I love shrimp! Karen i loved your jokes!

Laura Ė It was beautiful yesterday. Sorry itís colder in Wisconsin. I hope your back feels better soon.

Nancy Ė Sorry to disappoint you about the new potatoes. Our bike ride was nice but it was really windy! We ride a trike so it was pretty stable but the wind was horrible. My neck was sore from the wind blowing my head around in the helmet! Great job staying in range for your birthday celebration! The luncheon sounds nice. How fun to have the men wait on you.

Estelle Ė I hope you enjoyed your dinner out.

Sharon Ė Iím glad youíre settled in and enjoying your new home.

Pat Ė It always amazes me how busy you are. Iím glad your husband was feeling so good. I read your blog and like your creations!

I had a pretty good weekend. I did my Jillian Michaelís workout yesterday before I did anything else. My BIL came over for breakfast and then he and my husband hung some cabinets in the garage while I mopped the floors. Then we got cleaned up and went to the hospital. Dad is doing so much better. He was sitting up in the chair and was laughing at some of the things we said. He stood by himself for a bit and actually took a couple of steps to get to the chair from his bed. Today we went to our local fire house for pancakes. They were selling tickets for raffle items and a 50/50 drawing. I won the 50/50 drawing, $131.00! A few weeks ago I won the 50/50 drawing at the local Harley shop. We spent most of the day relaxing.

Laura, I hope you and Jennifer feel better.
Nancy, yay for a good birthday! It sounds lovely. I'm impressed that you're staying so close to your calorie goals, even if the cake does put you over. Not bad at all!
Pat, I look forward to your blog. I hope dh got some good rest this weekend. I can't relate to being bored either.
Estelle, I've been overeating things I wish I wouldn't, but I do feel guilty about it. I hope you don't mind if I borrow some of your dedication to start doing better immediately:) What is your fat loss training program? Is that a work out video?
Karen thanks for the jokes.
I realized that part of the reason I'm not eating well or planning to eat well is because I'm disoriented at the new grocery stores. I'm going to go to the grocery store closest to my new place tomorrow and take time to get familiar with where everything is and what they have to offer. If I don't, I'll "find" my lost pounds at the rate I'm going! But for tonight, I'm at my sister's on the island. Her boyfriend is making a roast with potatoes and roasted veggies. Yum!
Let's have a healthy week:)

emoticon Karen I love your jokes.

Thank you, Estelle, for wishing me a happy birthday. It has been a great day (not over yet!).

Our small group (from church) is going out to supper to celebrate with me, and then we'll have our regular small group meeting with cake and coffee. I even have my supper planned to keepl within my calorie range, but I think the cake will push it over the line. Oh well, it's just one day, and when I got on the scale this morning I'd lost another pound. Of course, if I step on the scale again tomorrow, I'll probably 'find' that lost pound. LOL

Never, EVER give up. Just pick yourself up and keep going.

hi good Sunday morning
Let's Meet by the RiverSunday Jokes

The Reverend Lewis was completing a temperance sermon and with great expression he said,
'If I had all the beer in the world, I'd take it and throw it into the river.'

With even greater emphasis he added, 'And if I had all the wine in the world, I'd take it
and throw it into the river.'

Finally, the Reverend Lewis said, 'And if I had all the whisky in the world, I'd take it and
throw it into the river.'

He sat down.

The Curate, Roger Marples, then stood up very cautiously and announced with a smile, '
For our closing hymn let's sing number 365, "Shall We Gather at the River."
Five Funny Signs Spotted In Sunday Restaurants
1. At restaurant-gas stations throughout the nation: Eat here and get gas.
2. At a Sante Fe gas station: We will sell gasoline to anyone in a glass container.
3. In a New Hampshire jewellery store: Ears pierced while you wait.
4. In an New York restaurant: Customers who consider our waitresses uncivil ought to see the manager.
5. In a Michigan restaurant: The early bird gets the worm. Special shoppers' luncheon before 11am.
6. Silver Spoon, a new gourmet deli in the heart of NYU Zone, quietly opened a few weeks ago. And boy do they have a helluva mission statement on the wall. It reads:
7.we named our store Silver Spoon to serve the best quality food, like serving the king and newborn babies. In ancient times, only silver utensil were used to serve the king and newborns because poisonous food will change the color of silver.

Laura, thank you for my birthday wishes. I'm sorry your back is sore; and that Jenny isn't doing so well either. Hopefully you'll both wake up in the morning and all will be well. I finally remembered where the pointy-hair girl and the computer were from: the cartoon is Dilbert. I drew a blank last night. : )

Haha Pat, yes, I ate at least one bite of crab legs for each of my friends. They were delish! Thank you for wishing me happy birthday. Part of me can hardly believe I'll be 65 tomorrow (Sunday). Where has all the time gone? LOL I'm so glad your DH is feeling a bit better each day. That kind of progress is something we like to see. I like to say that I'm so busy that I don't know how I had time to work - and apparently you are that busy too, for some days I get tired trying to keep up with all you do! Keeps you young, I know. emoticon I didn't mention it on your blog, but I like the garden ornament that you made from bits and pieces found at yard sales. What a talented, creative lady you are.

Never, EVER give up. Just pick yourself up and keep going.

Good evening everyone-I hope all of you had a great Saturday. I had a great one. DH felt good enough to go to a couple of community yard sales. I mostly got things for the park and if you check out my blog, you can see pics of some of the things I have been busy on.
Laura happy your biopsy was benign. I know what you are talking about-the prep for it can be quite brutal. It has been a few years for me but I still remember it and it was not fun!!!
Nancy-Happy Birthday and hope you said at least one of those bites was for me when you were eating those crab legs. Yum, yum.
Estelle I hope you had a good time with your friends tonite.
We went out to eat with our friends today after we got done at the yard sales-we ended up at Beef O'Bradys and for a couple minutes I wasn't sure I was going to find something that I could eat, but I settled on their grilled chicken salad and it was quite good and after I removed the croutons, it was all on my approved foods! DH had a nice grilled shrimp salad so he ate good too. The morning wore him out and he has slept pretty much all afternoon and I iced down his shoulder.
Another busy day tomorrow-seems pretty much all of my days are busy-I don't understand people who talk about being bored-I never get enough time to be bored!!!

Hi Estelle, have a good time at the birthday dinner. I, too, hope you're able to find heathful food there.

We sure enjoyed Joe's Crab Shack last night. I'd planned my calories all day, and stayed within range even though I was able to enjoy many minutes of cracking crab legs and noshing on the meat. Mmmmm.

Sharon, I'm so glad you've gotten moved and over the cold so that you can interact with us again. We understand why we missed you for a few days, but that's just it: we MISSED you. : ) Hadn't thought about it before, but "Island_Sharon" isn't entirely appropriate, is it? emoticon Whatever you choose to change it to, or leave it as-is, is fine.....it's YOUR name.

I slept in this morning, then went to a women's luncheon at church. About four of the men (my DH included) donned black slacks and ties, and white shirts and waited on us. That was fun. Then we had a really good speaker (only about 20 minutes worth, which also was nice). Lunch was apple/pumpkin soup, bacon quiche, tossed green salad, and a liitle bit of some kind of cranberry/blueberry geletin. Desert was a cupcake with white frosting and the edges had different colored frosting leaves. I haven't tracked it yet.....I'm scared to see how many calories I ate!

It's Saturday, so I must shortly go downstairs and start dinner. Will eat just a little of that.

I don't know what we'll do for dinner/lunch tomorrow - I shouldn't have to cook on my b'day; but in the late afternoon our small group will go out for supper - all the guys will qualify for a free meal, as all are vets. Then we'll hold our regular meeting at church, and have the cake I baked this afternoon. Fat weekend.

I may not write tomorrow, but rest assured that I'll be thinking of you all.

Never, EVER give up. Just pick yourself up and keep going.

Hi everybody. I haven't been able to have much computer time, so it's nice to catch up with you all. And you didn't even make me crave pizza! Chocolate, well, I always want that.
Nancy, Happy Birthday!
I'm all moved other than a few little things I have to pick up from my sister's tomorrow, but she'll be home so we'll get to visit. I'm looking forward to that. I love my new living situation and I love not spending so much time commuting. I'm thinking about changing my Spark name: CitySharon? Sharon135 (my goal weight?) What do you think?
I hope you're all having a lovely week! I should be around more now and I'm happy about that:)

Good morning :)

I'm having my smoothie and getting ready to go do my boot camp video afterwards.

Tonight is our outing for dinner for my friend's birthday. Hopefully they have healthy food at the restaurant.

The sun is shining here, but not too warm.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Darn it, Nancy! I was hoping to learn about a 'new' kind of potatoes. LOL I'm glad you're not beating yourself up for your eating. You do such a good job, that an occasional 'slip' to less-than-perfection is no problem. Wow! In the 70's - I'm jealous. Sunday is to finally be in the upper 60's and we think that's GOOD. emoticon Have a good bike ride.

Pat, glad you're taking time to do things for yourself (such as the mamo). Good luck with all the rest of the pansies. You sure are busy for the park. I hope other appreciate it!

Laura, I'm also glad your biopsy was benign. About your computer: one of my favorite cartoons was of the pointy-hair girl who called for help and was told to re-boot. So she took her computer to the roof and (re)booted it off. emoticon there are day I definitely feel like that myself.

DH and I went down into Maryland (not terribly far) and had a scrumptous dinner at Joe's Crab Shack. I had planned my day's eating around that, and was able to thoroughly enjoy the crab legs and still stay in my calorie range. emoticon That was our celebration of my b'day.

Y'all have a wonderful weekend.

Never, EVER give up. Just pick yourself up and keep going.

Pat you sure are a busy person these days doing all that work. Sometimes we have to treat ourselves or we would end up over eating on our favorite foods. I am glad my mammogram is behind me. When i had to have a biopsy and have something foreign sticking out of my breast; so the surgeon could find the node as they called it. Most uncomfortable the way they did it.
Thank God it was only a cyst! Computer is giving me all kinds of trouble tonight. I could not go into Word and retrieve my assignment! emoticon emoticon Feel like throwing it out the window! emoticon

You all are killing me talking about all he things I love and can't have-pizza, cake, fried chicken-just kill me now- emoticon !!
I went for my mammogram early this morning so glad to have that done for another year! I had put it off for about 6 wks while we got DH thru all his dr appts and surgery so finally thought I could take care of this.
It has been a busy day. - DH has had PT and a visit from the nurse and Vicky & I worked on planting sme of the pansies-we got 3 flats done in 4 hours as we had to clean out the pots and we did some weeding and painting, etc. Taking care of a park becomes a job-just an unpaid one!
Hope all of you have fun plans for tomorrow. DH feels good enough that we are heading out to some community yard sales!!!

Nancy - nope, not beating myself up at all. I ate it, I admitted it, and I'm moving on. It was supposed to say mashed potatoes. I am typing on my iPad and sometimes my typing isn't good. I need to start proofing my work!

Hi Pat, You have great self-discipline to not eat pizza. emoticon Nice news about your DH and his recovery. Sweet Tomato - oh, how I wish we had one up here! Good luck with the 8 flats of pansies. They'll look great when you finish planting them all.

Estelle, it sounds like you've made (and carried out) good plans for tomorrow. Enjoy the celebration!

Nancy, I hope you're not beating yourself up for last night. You're picking up today where you 'should' be, so all's well. One question, what are 'adhered' potatoes? Sounds intriguing.

Never, EVER give up. Just pick yourself up and keep going.

Pat - I think it's awesome that you were able to have salad and skip the pizza! Idon't think I could have done it! It sounds like your hubby's doing just great! Good luck planting the pansies.

Laura - taco pizza sounds pretty good right now!

Estelle - enjoy hourlong weekend!

Nancy - We didn't end up eating the pizzas at night.

AWe went to the hospital right after work we stopped for dinners the way. The special was fried chicken which came with adhered potatoes and a salad. I also had a cup of chili and 1/2 of a piece of pie! I let myself get too hungry and my willpower was gone. I am doing better today. Lunch is salad and grilled chicken sandwich.

Good morning everyone:

Woohoo, it is finally Friday and a long weekend coming up to boot :)

I absolutely love Fridays. Fridays I am not tracking my food or exercising. It is my treat day in moderation. Tonight we are having chicken wings and nachos while watching our Nascar race. I am so looking forward to it :) Treats without guilt.

Tomorrow night, we are going out for dinner for my friend's birthday. Hopefully I will be able to choose something healthy because I know I will be having a small piece of birthday cake afterwards. I will have done my exercise though in the morning which is all good.

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Estelle

Can you believe I have gone with our group to get pizza and while they enjoyed that, I ate a SALAD! Sometimes it is hard, but I am learning to say, it isn't forever and it would only go on my hips anyhow!
Took DH to the surgeon today and he is doing good. Took out his stitches today and in 48 hours he can shower without having to cover the incision sites. Dr told him he had to take the pain meds so he would relax more during therapy and he is to ice it down immediately afterwards.
This afternoon we went to Sweet Tomato with 8 others and had a great time. Then we gals went flower shopping for the park and now I have 8 flats of pansies to plant-I must be crazy!!!
I even worked in the gardens for 2 hours between dr visit and going out to eat.

Nancy, I wouldn't drive back to town for a mop either....you know you'll be going again sooner or later and an extra day or so isn't going to hurt unless you and DH plan to eat off the floor. LOL

Estelle, I agree - if the scale is making you nuts, hide it. If your clothes fit well, you're 'there.' Have a wonderful long weekend.

Hi Jenny, good to hear from you; especially that you're doing okay. You'll figure out what foods you can/should eat so you don't crave the wrong stuff. Hang in there! We're all rooting for you.

Karen, I enjoyed your jokes. There are time I could use any one of them.

Good morning everyone:

Yes, we are almost done the week. It is a long weekend for government employees as it is Remembrance Day. I am looking forward to it.

So I've made a DEFINITE decision to put away the scale tomorrow after my official weigh in day. Yesterday I thought I had gained 2 lbs. This morning I had only gained .2 of a lb. The scale is definitely driving me nuts. I will enjoy life in moderation and go by my clothes. I will try not to look in the mirror so much, LOL.

Nancy - I completely understand about work. We are in the same holding pattern and not very busy, so reading and internet all day makes for a long day.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Estelle

Nancy Ė I am looking forward to hubby being home tonight. I got the house clean except the mopping. My mop broke and I wasnít going to drive back to town to pick up a new one. I can do the mopping this weekend.

Laura Ė Chocolate and chips are my downfall foods. I only have one Jillian DVD, the 30 Day Shred. I think all of her DVDs much be hard!

I got up early and did my workout and now I am catching up on Spark before work. Yesterday was a slow day at work. I really donít have much going on right now. I was able to do some reading yesterday. Itís nice to be able to have time to read at work, but it makes the time go faster when Iím busy!

Wow! I gotta lotta reading to do on this string. So glad to hear from you all.

Nancy, you're definitely on the right track (pardon the pun): it sure helps to track our food and exercise. I'm so glad your FIL is doing so well. More and more time off the ventilator, and soon he'll be off it altogether! Good luck with the remainder of the housework. I know you'll be glad to see your DH tomorrow.

Estelle, hope you enjoyed both the carrot cake and (if you CAN 'enjoy') waxing. : ) I've never tried it. I'm proud of you for exercisinng - great self-discipline. Can you tell 'self-discipline' is on my mind? I'm trying to find mine. LOL Now about that candy bar and gaining......unless the candy bar weighed 5 pounds, or led you to eat more sweets, I doubt that it did any damage. For Pete's Sake! Look at how much you exercise! You know what to do (and not do) and I know you'll get back on track. emoticon Ok, nagging finished. emoticon

Karen, enjoyed your joke, even as it hits close to home. Haha!

WHEW! Pat! I thought I was tired until I read all you got done yesterday! I hope you're being kind to yourself, and not trying to do too much. Great news that DH felt good enuf for the coffee and donut run. I hope the results you got today at the dr's office were good results. Wishing your DH all the best. How very fortunate that you're saving $$$ on the mamo.

I'm still catching up on SP and my emails (didn't even get on the computer at all yesterday); but still plan to blog tonight about yesterday.

joke of the day
\An elderly couple had been experiencing declining memories, so they decided to take a power memory class where one is taught to remember things by association.

A few days after the class, the old man was outside talking with his neighbor about how much the class helped him.

"What was the name of the Instructor?" asked the neighbor.

"Oh, ummmm, let's see," the old man pondered. "You know that flower, you know, the one that smells really nice but has those prickly thorns, what's that flower's name?"

"A rose?" asked the neighbor.

"Yes, that's it," replied the old man. He then turned toward his house and shouted, "Hey, Rose, what's the name of the Instructor we took the memory class from?"

hope everyone doing well

Good morning everyone:

Okay, so I had the last stupid chocolate bar I had in the house last night. I have been doing my exercise every day. I walked over 5 miles yesterday plus did my boot camp video.

I know I will have gained at least 2 lbs. this week. I can't get over how fast the weight goes back on as soon as you start eating sweets and junk food :( It really is very discouraging. However, the positive is my pants fit and my rings are still loose, so I can't be doing that bad, LOL.

Nancy - I'm having a real hard time staying on track too :( First time in 2 years I can honestly say I am struggling. I will keep pushing though.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Estelle

Pat - You've done such a great job of sticking to that diet! I'm proud of you. I know how hard it is to stick to a restrictive diet. I don't have that kind of will-power right now. I may try the 17 Day Diet again after the Holidays are over. Maybe with more planning I can do it and stick with it.

I skipped my workout this morning, I just didn't feel like doing it. I will make sure to walk on my lunch today. After work I have to finish cleaning the house. I got about 1/2 of it done last night so it shouldn't take too long. Hubby is supposed to be coming home tomorrow night and I want it done before he gets here!

Nancy good news about your FIL. I know the challenge of eating out-we do a lot of it and it has been quite a challenge with my diet but so far I have managed with some planning ahead. Tomorrow we are going out to breakfast and I will have eggbeaters and take my pouch of salmon along with me to eat with it. I really want pancakes and eggs but.....I want my health even more!
Today was another early morning-DH felt good enough to go for his Tues morning coffee and donut and I walked-the rain sent me home early but I got more exercise this afternoon to make up for it. I planted a shrub down by the office that we bought yesterday. It is time to get my fall planting done in the gardens but I wasn't happy with the plants out there so holding off till they get some better looking pansies. I had to run to the bank and then get my prescriptions refilled before returning home to get DH here for the visiting nurse, but she came early-without calling us-so we missed her and now she is supposed to come tomorrow! Why give us a time and then ignore it-DUH, we have a life too. This afternoon I painted our bench in our front rock garden and got the birdhouses we plan to put in the gardens treated in hopes they will last longer. We try to spray most things with a sealer as the Fl sun and heat are really hard on things.
We see the gastrologist tomorrow afternoon and will get the results of the endoscopy and colonoscopy and hopefully the results of the bloodwork and sonogram of his liver. I also made an appointment for my mammogram and luckily the gal setting the appt told me if I scheduled it before Mon, I could get it for $75 instead of $125 if I waited till Mon. I appreciate her working me in on Fri as it saves me $50.
Well, back to check on what is happening in the election.

I had a pretty good day yesterday too. I got home from work and did a short workout since I missed my morning workout. I had started cleaning she my BIL stopped by to see if I wanted to go to the hospital with him. We stopped for dinner and I had a club sandwich and chips. I would have been in my calorie range but we had pie and ice cream. Today is going to be better.

Good morning everyone:

I had a great day yesterday of eating and exercising. I did have a slice of carrot cake that my neighbor had given me this weekend, but I didn't put no icing on it, so I was so proud of myself :) A small victory for me for sure.

Today, I will be doing my exercise as soon as I get home because I have a wax appointment at 6:00 pm. I WILL NOT procrastinate and use that excuse to not do my exercise :)

Pat - You are a busy lady :)

Nancy - So glad to hear good news about your FIL :)

Hope everyone has a great day!

Estelle

Laura - Thanks for the encouragement. I am not giving up, I am just going to work harder.

Pat - I don't know how you do it, you always seem to be so busy. I hope you get a good ngnt's rest tonight.

My BIL came over tonight and we went to see my FIL. He was off the ventilator for several hours today. He has to be able to breathe on his own all day before they can take him off it. Plus he still has to have the surgery to put his skull bone back. He seems to be getting stronger each day.

Good Evening all-I keep getting later and later when I get on here and tonite I am really beat. I set the alarm for the 1st time in a week so I could walk before taking DH to get his blood drawn at Quest at 8:30. After that I seemed to stay busy all day long-I didn't sit down till I ate dinner about 6. Have had several phone calls and finally able to Spark a bit but think my eyelids are getting heavy so won't fight it as I have to get up early again tomorrow.
Will catch up with all of you later.

Hi everyone;
Sharon I hope you are getting settled in at your new place. To both Nancy's don't give up you can lose that weight. Take it from my daughter who recently joined the team. She lost a lot of weight and then gained some of it back due to her hunger being out of control. Now she is on a second medication for her prediabetic conditon and losing it all over again. Nancy glad your FIL is doing better. I will be glad when the election is over and I will not be ;pestered with phone calls anymore.

You can call me Laura.
I live in Peshtigo , Wisconsin.

Estelle - I was wondering the same thing about that doctor! Yes, let's get bsck on track together.

Nancy - My husband was able to get his prescriptions refilled by they doctor and is looking for a different one. I'm going to keep pushing myself too. Iwillnot give up and I will not gsi any more weight.

I am tracking every bite and trying to write how I feel as I eat. Maybe seeing that number onthe scale will motivate me to really watch what I eat.

Wow Pat! Getting everyone bathed can be a chore. Isn't it amazing how thick fog can be? Glad it warmed up nicely yesterday, and that you were able to get in a walk in spite of the fog.

Sharon, I hope you've successfully fought off the flu bug. Miserable thing that! How was the commute this morning? emoticon I'll bet you didn't quite know what to do with yourself with having so much 'extra' time. LOL

Nancy, y'all obviously needed that extra sleep on Saturday. Don't regret it. It wasn't really a waste of time. What a horrible experience your DH had with that dr. I can't get over how many dr's there are who don't do exams or tests, etc before pronouncing something. Sounds to me like that dr must have a financial interest in gastric bypass surgeries. emoticon Nancy, take it from (sloppy fat) me: I'm almost at my heaviest....just a couple of pounds lower; and it can be very discouraging. (see my posting from a few days ago when I was really down) emoticon emoticon What wonderful news about your FIL. I'm so glad he's continuing to resume good health. I've been praying for him, and will continue to do so.

Good morning everyone:

The sun is shining, however it is chilly outside. Work is pretty quiet and I have a couple of employees off on vacation.

Time for me to get back on track too. I ate chocolate bars (3) and a whole bag of chips yesterday. I get so tired of not being able to eat junk food and when I do I binge :( I now have to get back to exercising regularly and eating well.

Nancy - I sometimes have to wonder of some of the doctors got their licences, grrrr. I hope your husband went to see another doctor. Lets get back on track together and keep each accountable. I'm glad to hear your FIL is doing better.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Estelle

Nancy Ė I struggle with emotional eating too. I just like food and I like to eat! Iím frustrated with how I look and feel too. My weight is at the highest itís been in over a year, and I canít even blame it on medication. Itís all me. I am recommitting to my Spark goals today and restarting my plan. We can do this!

Laura Ė Iím sorry youíre not liking the team on the BLC. Iím on the Rockiní Rose Rangers and love them. They people are very supportive. Maybe you could try them the next time around.

Pat Ė Iím glad your hubby is doing well and is having so much company. I know the company can keep you from doing what you want, but itís probably good for him.

Sharon Ė I hope youíre able to keep fighting that flu bug. I hope the move is going well and youíre getting settled in your new home.

Estelle Ė We woke up at 7:30 on Saturday and decided not to get up yet and ended up sleeping until 11:30! We much have needed the sleep but I hate it when we waste the day like that. Iím glad you went to a different doctor and hope the new medication works. My husband had a bad experience with a doctor recently. He went in for a consultation to see about using this doctor. The doctor didnít even examine him or anything but told him he is morbidly obese and diet and exercise wonít help him. He said the only help for him is to have gastric bypass surgery. All that without even doing an exam or anything. He wonít be going back to him. What kind of doctor tells someone they canít lose weight and recommends bypass surgery right off the bat?!

We went to see my FIL yesterday. Heís still about the same, but I can tell heís getting stronger each time I see him. Yesterday they came in to do his physical therapy and my husband told him to do what heís told and said ďDonít make me come back in hereĒ. Dad laughed at him! They are starting to ween him off the ventilator and just use an oxygen cuff near where the trach is. They canít take the trach completely out because he has to have another surgery to re-attach the bone to his head. That is supposed to be an easy surgery. I sure hope so, we donít need anymore setbacks.

I weighed myself this morning and am thoroughly disgusted with myself. I am at the heaviest I have been in a long time. Itís time to get refocused and start heading in the right direction!

Nancy your week sounds like mine-get your roller skates on and away we go!

We decided it was probably best if we skipped church today due to DH's recent surgery but hopefully we will get back on track next Sunday. Today was bath day-decided we could get DH bathed as it had been a week and the visiting nurse left plastic coverings for his incisions so we kept it all dry. Next up was Abbie-wow, rub a dub dub, the family is all cleaned up - ha ha.
I walked in the fog this morning-I could not believe how heavy the fog was-you could not even see the lake from the street. I think the mist was thick enough to cut it with a knife. However, when it cleared it did so quickly and the sun warmed things up nicely today. In fact, it was warm enough that I felt like going for a dip in the pool this afternoon.

Have a great week.

Pat

Karen, I'm sorry y'all had so much trouble with Sandy. Thankfully, our electric workers (and those in from other states to help) got just about everyone who had lost power, back on line within a few days. I think everyone is now back on line. I do know that many of our electric workers are in NYC and New Jersey to help those folks. I enjoyed your jokes. Some things are funny just because there's an element of truth in them! emoticon

Oh Estelle! I'm sorry your regular dr let you down. I can't imagine a dr treating someone for ulcers without doing tests first! Yes, I pray this new medicine works so you won't have to go through anything more unpleasant.

Tomorrow DH and I volunteer a couple of hours at the elementary school. While we love the teacher (Tyler's teacher from last year); I do wish Tyler's teacher could use us, but I guess that's not to be this year. Maybe next year. Tuesday we'll be allllllll day at the polls, and I have a hair appt and a dr appt on Wednesday. Thursday we'll be at the animal shelter, and Friday I have a psych appt. Saturday is a woman's luncheon at church. Whew! I haven't had such a full calendar in ages. LOL But I'm also looking forward to it.

I hope you all have a wonderful week.

Good morning everyone:

My plan of exercising after breakfast went by the wayside. There was a medical clinic opened on the Ontario side and I decided to go and get my stomach/throat checked out again because it was not getting better, but seemed to be getting worse. I had such a nice doctor there. He thinks my asophagus and stomach are not contracting right, so he gave me medication which should work within 3-4 days. If not, he wants to go pass some tests. I was so happy with him. My regular doctor had prescribed me ulcer medication without even taking tests. I never had ulcers, grrrrrrr. This doctor and his assistant today couldn't believe he had given me that medication without tests. Cross your fingers that this new medication works good.

Going to make my homemade beans and laundry. Not sure that I will get in my exercise today, but I promise to get back on track tomorrow for sure.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday!

Estelle

JOKES FOR TODAY
WOMEN SPEAK IN ESTROGEN AND MEN LISTEN IN TESTOSTERONE

RELATIONSHIPS:
When a relationship ends, a woman will cry and pour her heart out to
her girlfriends, and she will write a poem titled "All Men Are
Idiots".
Then she will get on with her life. A man has a little more trouble
letting go. Six months after the break-up, at 3:00 a.m. on a Saturday
night, he will call and say, "I just wanted to let you know you ruined
my life, and I'll never forgive you, and I hate you, and you're a
total
floozy. But I want you to know that there's always a chance for us."
This is known as the "I Hate You / I Love You" drunken phone call, and
99% of all men have made at least once. There are community colleges
that offer courses to help men get over this need.
MATURITY:
Women mature much faster than men. Most 17-year old females can
function as adults. Most 17-year old males are still trading
baseball cards and giving each other wedgies after gym class. This
is why high school romances rarely work out.

HOPE EVERYONE DOING WELL because OF THE STORM BACKLASH WE GOTTEN CLEVELAND ACTUALLY HALLOWEEN SOMETHING I THOUGHT I NEVER SEE SO MANY DOWN POWER LINES

Yes, Laura, for whatever his faults, I have a good husband. When he retired over 8 years ago, I was still working. He took on the weekday cooking (had done it a number of years ago while I was taking classes after work), the laundry and 1/2 the cleaning. When I retired almost 4 years ago, he wanted to retain the laundry and our cooking schedule. But we switched the cleaning - I now clean the main floor and he does upstairs. Some weeks he puts me to shame for getting his housework done before I get mine done. : )

Pat, I'm so glad that your DH is well enough to not need pain pills AND was able to do his exercises today. What great progress! I'm continuing to pray for his continued healing. My, gardening all year round. More power to you. Pansies are so pretty.

Checking in before the race gets started-I got most of what I wanted to do done today. I even cleaned the top shelves in our closet that I had not planned on! Tomorrow I need to run to Lowes or Home Depot and pick up some paint and get some of my flowers so that I can start to redo all my potted plants. It is finally cool enough that I can put out my pansies and ornamental cabbage. Yes, Sharon, we can pretty much garden year round here. That is unless we have an unusually cold winter as we did 2 years ago!
DH has gone all day without a pain pill and did his exercises today so that was a step forward. We even slept fairly good last night so I wasn't so tired today. I got my walk in before starting my day and plan to do that again tomorrow morning.
Have a wonderful Sunday.

Hi everyone;
Nancy I think you have a great husband there; helping with the shopping and cooking. emoticon Estelle you are an early bird like me; I always get up between 6 and 7. Sharon I wish you luck moving; just make sure you pack it good and have helpers who don't shove the boxes around. My brother and sisterinlaw helped us move along with some people from the church back in 2007. My brother and his wife were careless; we ended up with some stuff getting broken or cracked. She tried to blame it on us saying we did not pack it good enough. We packed the boxes in newspapers and in the bubble wrap they gave us.

Laura, you're doing so well with all the exercise you get, and your eating. Congratulations!

Wow! Estelle, I thought it was Saturday....up at 6:00? At least you were able to get back to sleep. Good for you! My DH and I grocery shop together - he cooks during the week, and I have the weekends. It's worked for us for several years now, and I think that each of us is 'afraid' the other won't get the 'right' groceries. LOL Anyway, he pushes the cart (works for me!) and we both grab stuff from the shelves.

Sharon, I don't envy you the move 'across town' as I think those are the hardest. We've done it a few times; and I think it's easier to move across country (or to another country). Ha! I wish you the best of luck in getting everything you want done this weekend. Just don't forget to give yourself a break. I'm sure you'll be happier to live where there's not a single person being lazy about picking up. I'm finding it a real big challenge to slow down eating, but w e're just a couple of days into that, so I'm confident that I'll get better at it.

We have the best team for supporting each other. Thank you all, again, for letting me vent. I sure was down yesterday. I slowed down for lunch today, but forgot until I was almost through with dinner. Oh well, Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither are good habits. Progress, however slow, is still progress. emoticon

Have a great Sunday

Never, EVER give up. Just pick yourself up and keep going.
