GNU bars are 140 calories and have lots of fiber. If you start using these, I'd suggest at first eating less than half a bar. Build up to eating a whole one. they are tasty and filling. I like the orange cranberry flavor but all are good.

Flavored prunes....but haven't been able to find them in my normal shopping spot - haven't had them in a long time! Cherry and orange flavored; very yummy and good for you!

I like some cereals as an occasional snack - there are some good ones out there - very low sugar grams, high fiber, etc. Sometimes just a cup satisfies the snack urge. Same with an ounce of unsalted nuts.
Also, any vegetable snack is good - I've become a big fan of 100% pure, canned, pumpkin, combined with some sugar/fat-free jello pudding and some pumpkin pie spice. You just chill the mixture - 7 ounces is under 100 calories, has no fat, no added sugar, and has a good amount of fiber.

I find a lot of regular foods make good snack foods. If I don't have oatmeal for breakfast, I'll often have a half serving of Old Fashioned oatmeal with milk at bedtime. I find vegetable soup - homemade and not too salty -- is a great filling healthy snack. If you need a crunch with it, find whole grain crackers that aren't too salty. Half a sandwich on whole grain bread made with good stuff - like leftover chicken or lean pork - is a good. Leftovers can make a good bedtime snack if they fit into your calorie range.

Celery, raw cauliflower, and carrot sticks and other crudite fresh veggies are good. Some are good with salsa; others with a little olive oil and vinegar or maybe some lite ranch. Fresh fruit is a great snack. Sometimes dip in yogurt. Frozen fruit without sugar will do in a pinch. I also use unsweetened applesauce. Sometimes I dress up my applesauce with a few raisins or slivered almonds and cinnamon. When I stir in nonfat milk powder I call it applesauce pudding. If you are needing more calcium, low fat low sugar puddings are good, as are smoothies. A hard boiled egg can be a good snack especially if you are needing more protein. There is a recipe for deviled eggs using greek yogurt here on SP that is delicious. I used to have dill pickles for snack before I started watching the sodium.

Popcorn is a great evening snack. Air popped is very good, but the 94% fat free microwave is not bad. You can add some parmesan cheese if you need calories and calcium. (Air popped tastes better if you spray it with butter flavored Pam, but I'm not sure if that is good for you or not. It will help a bit of salt to stick. Have to be careful with that salt, though.)

Look at your nutritional feedback and see if you can come up with a satisfying snack to help you meet more of your nutritional needs. You may want to consult a pharmacist, registered dietician, or your doctor regarding the drug/food interactions. Best wishes.

Hi - by "eating at night" are you referring to a late night snack or your evening meal? If it's the snack I'm afraid I have no good suggestions because that's my eating "downfall" and it seems that everything I think I'd like to eat is wrong. So I'm trying very, very hard to stick to just a coffee or water after supper. However, I like Estelle's suggestions of cereal.
Because of the meds you are taking, perhaps a dietician could advise you which foods won't interact with them. It's amazing how many of our normal foods can cause problems with our medication.
Best wishes

Healthy snacks for me always comprise of fruits and vegetables or peanut butter with a banana. I also like to eat a bowl of good cereal. Of course, I drink my green tea and water also after supper which helps with curbing the appetite. Good luck in planning your snacks. emoticon

Hi there. Today I had an appoinment with my cholesterole nurse. The meeting went well until she said that I need to be mindful of what I eat at night. I've been eating all the wrong food because of my medications that I have to take at night. What I want to get is healthy snack ideas for at night. So if anyone has some I would be trully grateful.

So if you can I would be really happy to get healthy cnack ideas.
