BLKBRBI - I received your sample cards today. They re very beautiful. I also like the papers you included. I have a large pad of different papers in two sides and I have used them like you did - in layers. I am hoping to get to go to Hobby Lobby tomorrow to get the quilling papers, too.

TY is for Thank You. Sorry to confuse you. Some people abbreviate most things. I think that has to do with text messaging.

I've been thinking about quilling too. I have the tool and some paper, but I haven't gotten the chance to check out some You Tube videos. Maybe that's what I will do this weekend.

I got a large envelope today, so I will be sending out your package tomorrow!

Take care.

I got a chance to look at your pictures, too. Yours are different than mine but I like them too. I would like to add some quilling to some of mine. I think that would set them off. It would benice to have some of those cricut pieces, but can't afford them right now.

Keep up your good work.

I have a sympathy card I need to get out, too. I am having a hard time getting into that one, but I will get it don , too. Just sent my daughter and her husband a happy anniversary card with a gift. However, the card was only a note card I included with her gift - a large name doily in filet crochet.

Great!! I look forward to seeing it. I am making a few graduation cards in which I am really behind. I am back to work now after almost 3 months off, and I find it hard to come home and work on handmade cards. I'm not giving up though...I will be back in the swing of things soon!

Take Care.

I have been making graduation cards as well as Mother's Day cards. My mother should receive hers by tomorrow, but my daughters will have to wait until Monday probably. Apparently, I put their cards in the mailbox too late for them to go yesterday. But at least I got my mother's card out on time.

I also have a wedding to go to on Sunday afternoon and have been trying to make a gift for them, as well. After this I think I am just going to make things that I want to make mostly and then give the people the gift is for a "gift crd" and then they can choose whatever they want from my stash.

I still have 4 graduation cards to make yet before next weekend, 1 middle school, 1 high school senior, and 2 college graduates.

Wish I could share my pictures, but my problem is that I cannot find a workable camera. I have had no luck with cameras recently and that keeps me from putting anything on Etsy.com at this time. It is frustrating for me to have these things to sell and can't take pictures of anything to share them. I have a shop on Etsy. It is called StrawberryRose Marketplace. I do not have much on it right now. Some jewelry, doilies, I think. Also potholders. I used a disposable cameras to take pictures and had them put on a CD - maybe there is something on that to share. I get them tomorrow night, so we'll see.

It sounds like you are very creative! I have a passion for papercrafting, but I hate to admit that I am not very creative. I spend a lot of time watching YouTube videos and looking at cards in Google Images. It's kind of like the cooking channel for me. I watch the shows all day, BUT never get up and cook. I learn so many card making techniques, and I have the tools, I just never tried any of it. I know...it's weird.

My Cricut Imagine was an impulse purchase from Walmart, and I hardly ever use it. If I had known what I know today, I would not have purchased it. I guess I never really gave it a chance. Shortly after I purchased it, I injured myself and I am still recovering. This was back in February!

If you don't mind sharing, I would love to see the creativity in your work. I have a few card pictures on my SP page if you want to check them out!

Thanks!!!

Yes, I would love to share photos of the cards that I make. I am trying to upload some to my page now, but I it takes forever. You can email me or post them on your page. Whichever is easier for you, and I will post them on my SP page unless you would like for me to email them. I have a few card sets posted now.

No working out for me today. My lower back is bothering me. The pain comes and goes depending on how I elevate my leg.

Enjoy your workout.

I use scrapbooking stickers as well as some clip art yesterday. for the graduation cards. I also rolled up a strip of white paper and tied a ribbon around it for a diploma.. I printed the cap and diploma pictures from the clip art section of Windows. I also printed some blue flowers. I was glad that was available, because I could not have gone into town to find what I needed. I do not have the cricut machines - can't afford that. I do use calendars for some of the pictures on the front of my cards, too. I haven't really tried to sell any cards, yet, but may do that as well. You might try the website Etsy.com

I just started myself. I've been out of work on disability since March 9th. During that time, I did some scrap booking (something I've done off and on for almost 14 years). Then I decided to make some TY cards for my co-workers that have been doing my job in my absence. One of my co-works showed another co-worker and I got a phone call. I polled the team for some suggestions on what to charge and consulted with my brother who is also an artist and I came up with $2-4 cards.

So, I am still a rookie. This is my 3rd order since last month....one is a repeat client! I hope to get some samples made and post them on Etsy... I think that's the name that someone suggested.

I hope this helps!

That's awesome that your daughter gave you all those supplies. It sounds like you have everything you need to get started. I just checked my email and got a request for 11 cards for various occasions. One of them is a congratulatory wedding card. I cannot wait to use my new Sweethearts Cricut cartridge.

Have fun playing tomorrow after your workout. I am injured right now, so I cannot work out. BUT, I can paper craft alllllllllllllllllllllllllllll day!

BTW, I live in Sanford. If you hadn't heard of it before, I am sure you heard of it now emoticon

I put two cards in the mail this fternoon for 8th grade raduation. They were for 2 granddaughters graduating on Thursday. I just hope they get there on time. That is two down and 3 more graduation cards in the next 3 weeks. Since I cannot go to the store to get somne of the things I wanted, I used the internet and the graphics that came with my computer program. l also have an anniversary card this week, a wedding and Mother/s Day cards the same day and the 3 graduation cards on the 19th and 20th. Besides trying to get all my gifts made/crocheted by then,.

Welcome~

I am new to card making too, and like you...I live in Fl but not around any crafters. I've been toying around with embossing too. About one month ago, I purchased the texture boutique for my embossing. Then I went on a haul and purchased a lot of folders. I cannot wait to try different techniques such as distress ink and embossing.

:-)

Hello all u crafters
I am so excited about this site and this team. I recently got into card making and am having a ball with it. I live in a rural area in Florida and don't have any fellow crafters that I know of, so this is great to find all of you. Would love to share ideas and techniques with someone, just recently learned embossing. It is wonderful!!!!!!! Sure hope to hear from some of u soon

I love making cards. You can personalize them more if you make them yourself, too. Everyone else likes them too. My brother said mine were better than store bought cards! I have several in May to make - anniversary, wedding, baby shower, graduation.

Update:

I gave my colleague a choice between $2, $3 and $4 cards, and she gave me $30 for 10 cards! She didn't give me a theme color or style..she just said TY cards! So, I was busy all weekend using products I already had. I did buy 2 TY stamps, but I will be using them again and again!

It literally took me all weekend as I had to do everything from in my bed while one leg was elevated. So, I may not have done my very best. My BF delivered them today in a nicely decorated box I made. I am waiting to hear what she says.

BTW...I already had plain envelopes. I've made matching cards and envelopes before, but I think those will be my $4 cards.

Thanks ladies!!!

I do not buy cards any more. I make all my cards. I put a cover sheet of vellum onmy cards but that is for a 8.5 X 11 inch sheet folded in half or otherwise. When you decide what to sell you might want to include the cost of an envelope. Walmart has the right size to fit that size and also on the fit half the page folded in half. I have not sold any yet but was considering making cards to put on Etsy.com. You might check that website out to see what others are charging for theirs, as well. I didn't find any cards on that website that come anywhere near matching mine.

I charge $3 a card if buying one at a time, but I think if someone wanted a dozen, I would probably charge them $30.00 and give them a price break.

I would think that with embellishments $3 a card would make sense.

Thanks for your input. I plan to make them all different and use emblishments, so I hope to be able to charge at least $3 for the first 5.

I'll tell ya. I've often made cards for friends and I usually charge about a $1/buck a card. Depending on how much work you put into them, you could charge much more. For homemade cards, people will spend at least as much as store-made. Good luck!

Hi,

Monday was my first day back at work after a month of recovery from surgery. During that time, I decided to make 3 of my co-workers TY cards for doing my job in my absence. Another co-worker (I just solemnized her wedding on the 29th of Feb.) saw the TY cards and fell in love with them! She asked how much I would charge her for 10-12 TY cards. I don't know what to charge. I have only 1 month o card making under my belt!!

Are any of you making and selling handmade cards? Any tips or suggestions?

Thanks!!!!

~Nikki
