Oh Woubbie, I detest that word!! "Onboarding"... WAY overused. There's another one out that hits my hostile button too, but I'm too tired to remember what it is. I will probably think of it very early tomorrow morning... :)

Gail, I cracked up at your camel impersonation! I don't know why but that commercial always makes me laugh. Maybe because there's always a coworker like that at any job - even if he isn't a camel!

Um, and I am very glad that my tooth extraction was not in the same place as your hubby's... Mine doesn't even show when I do a big cheesy grin. And the oral surgeon said I would be a good candidate for an implant after the bone grows back. He said it's way easier than an extraction - good to hear! Hope you find a way to bill the estate for the balance due. I suspect a lot of small businesses just write those balances off rather than jump through the hoops to get the charges invoiced to the right contact and address.

I am going to bed now - crashing and burning.

On a cheery note, a client of mine who went out of business had me wrap up his bookkeeping last year and get to his CPA still owed me a small balance of $100. I almost wrote it off but he's a good person and I knew he appreciated my help. It's been hanging on my books for almost a year, and tonight I got a check from him to pay it off. :) I know it made him as happy to send it as I was to receive it!

Ugh. Work still sucking. Got a lot accomplished and I will appreciate it tomorrow, but tonight my brain just aches.

My department switched over to a different internal operating company this week and a lot of the literature refers to our "onboarding". (Garrr, but I hate "business-speak". There is always a perfectly good English word or phrase that already exists for these concepts.)

I guess they think "onboarding" makes it sound like we're going on a cruise. Yeah, only nobody told us that it was on a slave ship and we'd be doing the rowing!

Labour is prior to, and independent of capital. Capital is only the fruit of labour, and could never have existed if labour had not first existed. Labour is the superior of capital, and deserves much the higher consideration.

Had lunch with daughter and little granddaughter today. Was fun, but my little lover gd was all over the place - in the waitress's way and such. Uncontrollable by her mother. She's in the terrible two-year-old range.

Then we went to our new library, which has all the bells and whistles. I would like to live there if I ever become homeless. Looks more like a resort. Ahhh, our tax dollars at work. While we were there, I had a gal from my high school days come over to me. She actually recognized me. I couldn't believe it. Now, if I could only lose 30 to 40 pounds. I have to be the slowest loser in history. But I am consistent. Maybe I need to reduce my calories. I hate to do that, but I am getting frustrated.

Gail, you should be able to get a copy of his death certificate from the courthouse or someplace like that. It should have contact info for his daughter. You can also ask for the probate office and ask them. Send a copy of the bill, certified mail, return receipt requested, to his last address. The estate is required by law to pay all debts (of course, we all are anyway, but it's a different requirement for an estate) before the estate can be distributed.

Not much going on around here. I played bridge this morning and only made one huge goof that I know of. Tutored one of my Korean learners. Ran some errands. Wrote another entry for the food pantry blog. And that's about it.

Spent most of the day at the play area with James. I need to get dinner ready, but he is cuddling on my lap.

hey leslie, my dh had 4 of his teeth removed a week or so ago. the top front ones. he will be getting implants when it heals. it's a long process getting the implants. he does have a removable bridge(?), so he looks fine. although when he takes it out, it is a bit disconcerting emoticon it's not a good look for anyone.
busy today with billing. i seem to be into it today which is good. it's a job i really don't like. actually the part i really hate is having to call up non payers and badger them for money. fortunately i don't have much of that deadwood anymore emoticon

a question to throw out there--one of our customers with an account died in mid july. his daughter called and left a message to tell us and asked if he owed any money. he does. over $600. now i have called her several times and left messages and she isn't calling back. she doesn't live in this town. i don't know her married name. i looked up his obituary and info at the funeral home. there was no info. they didn't even write an obit and said there was a private service. how does one find out how to collect from a person's estate and get paid. this man had alot of real estate in town. pretty sure he had plenty of money, so paying us shouldn't be a problem. ideas appreciated from anyone.

and other than that....nothing interesting to share.

oh, oh, what day is it. come on, what day is it emoticon

Haha, Heidi, I'm only an hour behind you in time zones but WAY behind you in efficiency today!

I'm doing payroll and a bunch of small things on my desk. Finally got my boss to admit that I do not have a full-time job here, and he said that the manager from the Danish home office would probably agree. Good! I hate sitting around filling a chair, so I hope that means he'll keep letting me float out of here when I'm starting to twiddle my fingers.

I'm leaving early for a one-week follow-up appointment with my oral surgeon and I'm going to see what he says about an implant (some day in the future way down the road...). I still can't bring myself to stick my tongue in the hole where my tooth used to be! Eeuw! Freaks me out.

Oh the excitement of being me...

Really? The person who is the last to get up in the morning (with the 4 hour time difference between here and the east coast) is the first to post for the day? Cool- this won't happen often.

I don't really have anything special to report- we are back to our typical SE AK weather- raining (hard) emoticon , dark and windy. It would be a great day to hang on the couch with an Audry Hepburn movie, a LC treat (instead of cookies) and a pot of tea. Alas, I'm in the S H.

I need to haunt some magazines and cook books to find some more recipes I can make a lot of that will keep a few days- like the Greek salad I make, it makes a lot, you can eat a lot of it for hardly any carbs and it's easy to just scoop into a 2 cup to-go container AND it's a veg which we sometimes are lacking- except I want something different now.

What all is everyone doing today?
