Eliz--

Sorry! I share your frustration. Had a couple of similar experiences recently, and have decided that--at least in my case--it's the poor quality, reused, halfway to rancid oil. Which at least means I _can_ still eat out, it just limits my that's-not-food-anyway-why-do-I-want-it options. -G- Still, I'd have thought made to order egg foo young would have been a safe enough option. Sigh.

Sometimes fried foods give me heart burn, but I am trying to stay away from them since doing lowcarb.

But cooking some food items with eggs might make meals more interesting.

When eating out, I avoid Chinese and pizza places. I mean, I could eat there, but it is always bad. I rather go somewhere with burgers or steak.

I think some restaurants re-use their grease way too many times when they fry foods - and it's poor quality grease to begin with. I think Chinese food places are probably the worst because it seems most everything is deep fried (but I still love chinese food sometimes, but not very often).

I don't get any reflux from fried foods UNLESS they've had a breading of some sort on them.. (as long as I don't over eat them anyhow). Egg foo Yung was never a favorite of mine to begin with - maybe it was the bean sprouts that caused the distress?

LOL!!!!!
It is eggs, bean sprouts, shrimp, scallions and I had her "hold the soy sauce".
Nothing fancy.
I'm going to try making them at home without oil!

I hadn't really thought about it, but egg foo young is probably LC. But with your description, I don't know if I'll be ordering it soon.

emoticon it wasn't a better experience.

I was excited to learn that egg foo yung at our Chinese restaurant was LC! Without gravy of course. I love shrimp egg foo. They made it for me without gravy.

It was disgusting! Whatever oil they fried them in- YUCK. And deep fried crunchy eggs foo- yuck!

I've also noticed that deep fried foods give me worse reflux than ever now since I don't eat wheat. Anyone else notice this? And the combo of cream in my iced coffee plus deep fried food is the worst!
