Super busy day that I didn't prepare for diet wise. Stayed up too late last night; so wasn't so efficient this morning and didn't manage to get much of a breakfast. Quick final preparation of the song service for worship this morning; then off to worship. Meeting afterwards, and then my wife and I traveled to another town 60 miles away for a funeral of an old family friend of my wife's. Grabbed a small bite to eat at - ugh - McDonald's. But it was that or nothing, pretty much. Then indulged in a dinner at a nice seafood restaurant. I wasn't horrid diet-wise; but definitely not good for induction. Try to start off better tomorrow. But having a nice dinner with my wife after a funeral of an old friend was much more important. With a bit more advanced planning could have pulled it off. But lacking that, I just tried to do no real harm.

This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it!

Liverightnow, I have a left rotator cuff injury. My sports doctor wanted me to see the surgeon to cut out the arthritis & reattach all muscles & ligaments. Shudder. It would have been 12 months to 24 months recuperation. I chose to go to massage therapists that work with deep mayo fascia shredding & keep the blood flow going. It isn't covered by insurance but I can do most anything now. I still can't lift heavy weights for shoulder presses. But I can lift my grandchildren, move furniture, throw out water from the bucket & turn over in bed during my sleep without pain. that's a win for me. Surgery??? I challenge all surgeries suggested. I am very happy with deep tissue massage. YIPPEE. I like my decisions. Water is the best therapeutic medium. When my body hurts, I put on a flotation belt & just hang in the deep end of the pool. The viscosity of the water calms down everything. Connie

made low carb scotch eggs last night. a scotch egg is a boiled egg wrapped with sausage meat and deep fried.
i made mine with a mix of ground turkey and ground pork and baked them in the oven. delicious!! i also made rutabaga and yam fries to go with them. i still need some practice on those fries, but, it was really a good dinner.
the day before, i had a couple things with wheat--chunky soup for lunch (don't know why, ick!) and ordered chinese food for dinner. man, i was so stuffed up for the rest of the evening. seriously, i know better. i hate being plugged up and having to breathe through my mouth. oh well, it'll be a long time til i do it again. i don't mind too much if it is something wonderful, but, the chunky soup wasn't even close to tasting good. silly girl!!

I have a shoulder injury...dr said therapy would just make it hurt and then we'd have to do surgery anyway. I said hurumph and jumped in the pool. When I swim my shoulder feel 89% better....no daily Advil...no throbbing aching daily. I'm a believer!!!!!!

Yes Liverightnow, I'm a part time fitness instructor. I no longer do personal training. Personal training (the way it should be done) is hard & takes intensity & energy! I'm in my 65th year and I take my skills, education & experience to UP the ANTE in the water.

I have a lot of athletes that need to recuperate from knee, foot Hip injuries. Water allows them to continue to be warriors & keep their cardio & strength. I may have another 8 years in the industry before I have to move to another area of fitness. I'm living for right now . . . and I stay in the moment! YIPPEE! I've decided NOT to take the other predisone tonight. I'm finalee balanced for the day. Whewwwww! I'll consider if I need to take one tomorrow morning.

As long as I can breathe I'm fine. I haven't strayed from LC. Breathing is a focus. Staying balanced is a focus. Doing no harm is a focus. I think I'm pretty safe for the day. Wiping the sweat off my brow . . . . Whewwwwwwwwwwww! Connie

Mornings and dinner are cheeseburgers. Lunch plain burgers with fried eggs or salsa.iI eat cream cheese throughout the day too.
I am trying to add some variety to my diet. So, some days I have some vegetables. But, most days I just eat my burgers.

We actually had rain here this morning!! first rain in about two months... It smelled so good and so fresh and was cool and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Go ahead, ask me again in about late February what I think about the rain - You'll get a 100% different answer - we'll be so sick of rain by then~~~~ But just for today, it feels great. It has stopped now, although it's still cool out, about 65 (eat your heart out Kris). the sun is trying to shine a little.

Suzanne - when you eat your "burgers for the day" as you stated this morning - is that all you eat during the day or do you eat something/anything with them - or just have a burger and call it good?? (Seems like I'd asked you that once before, but can't remember your answer)..

Thank you Lucy! Predisone is a wonderful drug . . . but has many side effects. I'm ultra sensitive re: side effects of all meds. Breathe in . . . breathe out . . . Thank you again.

Yeow,Connie, I've never had steroids do that to me, so I guess I was lucky. Glad you're breathing better, but please don't do anything that turns into a national news story! :)

I've walked the boys and did a grocery run to Trader Joe's. They finally had the creamy almond butter with sea salt on the shelf again so I got two jars - they join the two jars of unsalted creamy almond butter in my cupboard... I really like that stuff but they've had a hard time getting it from their supplier so I guess I'm turning into an almond butter hoarder!

Gotta deliver a client's July paperwork to her today (since I got sick and sorta derailed this month) but otherwise I'm home puttering on chores, meal prep, etc. Might try to play with an art journal later. It feels good to have some quiet time. And my face is still puffy but better!

Fun posts today! Maw, I'm in Madison WI, just about 75 minutes from Kenosha! The wind is strong today by the Lake. Have fun.

I'm weepy & sad today. It's the predisone I know. In my head . . .in my intellect . . . I know it's a side effect of the steroid. But . . . the physical part of me is still edgy! I taught a circuit class and a deep water running class first off . . . by the time I was finished the steroid had circulated within my body. I wanted to get away from everyone. Seriously, that's not me. I stay & help. People have questions and their own stories . . . they need to share & be validated. I was biting the inside of my mouth so that I wouldn't snap. By the time I got to my vehicle I was crying.

I don't know how athletes can use steroids and stay mentally balanced. My world is not REAL right now. I'm hiding out for the remainder of the day. I cut the steroid in quarters now. It's only a few more days. It's helping my breathing. That's the goal. My goal is in front of me. My focus is on breathing. Everything else is 2ndry. Cause no harm. Breathe in . . . breathe out. Thank God I can breathe without wheezing. All is as it should be. It's good to be aware of side effects & use tools to stay calm.

I'm a very lucky Woman! All my roommates and I made a pact today . . . don't do anything that is perceived as 'stupid or messy' by my definition. I'll stay in my room. LOL! Two men of different ages that each have their perceptive of being clean . . . .LOL!

Signing off. It helps to put these weird emotions in black n white. Please keep sending me positive energy! It does help. Have a great day & enjoy your opportunities. Hugs to surround us all! Connie

yup, we moved again, just over 2 months ago! To a 5 bdrm house with a load of land and a massive workshop out back.

Our goal is to get us all consolidated in one spot. Not to mention that Rex (DH) has been working in awful conditions! (Landlord won't fix roof and it leaks a ton -- over our stock and machines. Plus no heat, and with the leaking roof (which is glass), a heater hasn't helped -- all we succeeded in doing that one try was throwing out a load of money and still not getting it warm in there.

We gave notice on the EXTRA space (a required 60 days over here), so that will save us a bit, and we'll be out before the 60 days are up. Then we'll get better sorted here and give notice on the workshop part and start moving things and arrange the machinery moving.

Crazy, huh? We love it here, and the dogs have loads of room to run! We have no neighbours, and the nearest house is about 3/4 mi away. In the other direction, about 1/3 of a mile, is a business park. Loads of fields between (farming, and trees all around us) but we are only 2 miles from the centre of the village, where there's 2 grocery stores, post office, our bank, etc.

Neil and Sarah have started moving in, and if things go smoothly for them, they should be down here full time by the end of September.

Anyway, off to eat now... my chops are done!

hi, All -- just another quick check-in -- Rex's son and partner (Neil and Sarah) are down for the weekend, as I mentioned before. The 3 of them went to a local race circuit (I had ebay and other things I wanted to do, and was not interested in the circuit today.)

Got ebay done (more to come, no doubt), and some other packages that will go out by courier.

Also put some more of those boxes away and moved a bit of furniture in the conservatory. Sure is looking good!

Off to eat my lamb chops and relax a bit.

Have a lovely Sunday!

Kris, I'm going to go to Kenosha, WI (on Lake Michigan, about an hour north of Chicago) for a Cousins Reunion. We decided at my Dad's funeral, following my aunt's funeral, and shortly followed by another aunt's funeral, that we wanted to get together sometime when there wasn't a funeral involved. The family came from the Kenosha area in my great-grandfather's time. A few greats before that moved there in the mid 1800's and donated a corner of their farm to build a church. The church is still there, and is having an anniversary celebration of some sort next month. We decided that that was as good a reason for selecting a place to meet as any! Turns out that the church is going to be planting a tree in honor of our greats on the Sunday, and we're all going to go to that. Then I'm going to meet a couple of people from the Knee Replacement Team a bit south of Chicago, and then visit a friend from college in Fort Wayne. We're going to go to a couple of Gene Stratton-Porter historical sites. And then home.

A very long-winded answer to a very brief question!

Have lots planned for today, but nothing very arduous or serious.

Started the day off with a double set of knee exercises, then went for a walk. I plan at least one, maybe two more sets of knee exercises. I plan to finish clearing off surfaces in the living room and dining room, and checking with Fly Lady on how to really clean my kitchen sink. I've been doing the maintenance part of shining my sink every night (I think) but never did the initial set up. And I plan to make a bunch of pepper stuffing (I like stuffed peppers - except for the peppers themselves! So I cut the peppers up and mix them in with the stuffing and eat it unstuffed. Much better that way.) to eat now and to put in the freezer. And I'll check for more summer produce recipes. I did a quick look last night and most of them have cheese, which is not allowed on a Whole30, so I can't cook with them until the end of September when I get back from vacation.

And I guess that's it. It sounded like a lot more when I was thinking about it on my walk! It's supposed to get hotter today, and muggier, so I'm sitting on the screened in back porch under the ceiling fan while I can. The doors and windows are all open. I expect to have to close up the house soon, and leave it that way for the next week or so. I do love fresh air and open windows!
