Hurray for Kris! I wouldn't tell if I were you. Too much information isn't good for healthy relationships.

I was wondering about the holiday, too. Enjoy it.

A long weekend, Gail? Is there some holiday I am missing out on? I don't get a long weekend. Can you hear the whine in my voice?!

My post-op was fine, everything is healing as it should and apparently the repairs I had done are quite firm and should last for the long haul. I was cleared for all activities except heavy weight lifting which I don't do anyway. But I am happy that I can get back to my strength training. Would it be bad not to tell the family that I'm OK to vacuum and mop again? emoticon

made a delicious pork, rutabaga, sweet potato stew in the crockpot yesterday. made wheat free biscuits too. they tasted good but were flat as pancakes. the recipe calls for almond flour. i ground up nuts, so, almond meal instead. that may have been the problem. the egg whites were stiff. i don't know. i have never made biscuits, with or without wheat. but, there's a couple things i've tried to bake and i haven't gotten them to rise like i've expected. i am a good cook, but, i've never tried to bake much. it does seem harder than cooking.

my mini horse has something wrong with his eye. it's all puffy, pussy and the whites are very red. so, i washed it out thoroughly and then sprayed a product i have called vetericyn in it. i swear by this product. i hope it's nothing serious. i couldn't see any cuts or anything and i couldn't see a foreign object in there. i tied up his long forelock so it wouldn't brush his eyes. he looks like a little unicorn now. i gave him a piece of carrot between each step and he was a real little trooper.

it's a little overcast today, so lovely weather to do things outside. but, alas i am inside with my computer today. sometimes i try and go outside to work, but, then the wind comes up and it's just impossible to keep papers and such under control.

does everyone get a long weekend this weekend? hope so.

Gail

I am just trying to chill today and regain my mental stability. Yesterday, took my mother and we visited my sister who is in an assisted living facility. Left and went to lunch to shake off the sadness. When we came out from lunch, my car was dead. Called hubby, he got off work to assist us. I was trapped in the car with my mom chattering away for 45 minutes. Had to have car towed to my mechanic. It was the starter - it was replaced, but it cost me $300. I threatened my mechanic with the statement that I might as well buy a new car, and he replied back that with all the parts he has replaced, I already have a new car. emoticon

I'm at my desk with a bunch of loose ends and small tasks to deal with. I'm dropping my dead laptop off today for a highly qualified IT guy to check it out and see if it can be brought back to life. I really hope so - I don't want to buy a new one, I don't want to deal with Windows 8, and I don't want to re-learn anything! :) LOL I have a big writing project for a client (probably a freebie) and I'd sure like to do it on the sofa, not at my desk.

No big chores or client stuff stacked up for tonight. I'm looking forward to a quiet evening after making dinner! I am sadly excited about this...

Naypooie, hang in there!

I get to leave work early today, I have 2 doctor appointments, one is my post op and I am anxious to find out if I'm healing as I should as sometimes things just don't seem quite right. I hope I haven't done too much and caused problems.

Maw, let's hope both our moms remain hale and hearty for many blessed years to come. I drive past my mom's house every morning on the way to work/school and she leaves me a signal that she made it through the night OK. When she gets up at 5 or 6 am to use the bathroom she turns on a little nightlight in her window. On the few occasions when the light was not on because she didn't need to get up for whatever reason, we would continue on our way but my son would call her to make sure everything was all right. My sister has the more difficult responsibility of calling her every evening to check up on her. It's at least a 20 minute call every night, which I would SOOOOO dread having to do (did it with my Dad a few years back but he wasn't a chatter, so we could catch up in a matter of 5 minutes or so).

Took the dog for a walk this morning, but didn't pick up apples. There are several out there, but I'll wait until tomorrow and pick up two days' worth.

We have someone coming over from Comfort Keepers this morning. They're an in-home care company that does everything from light housekeeping to 24/7 home care. Mom doesn't need in-home care at the moment, and I have no (all right, few!) qualms about her living alone, but as long as I'm out here, I'd like to get things organized in case that changes. And she'd like someone to come in once a week and clean, so I'm hoping we can kill two birds with one stone.

I had a steak salad last night with leftover steak from Sizzler. I sliced the steak very thin and then sauteed it in olive oil and garlic for just a minute. Yum!

Have a great day, everyone!
