Sounds like a 'good life' to me, Connie!! lol I live by the ocean on the Eastern Shore and really enjoy it, but most of the people down here are married/retired. Hard to meet any single guys around my age! Maybe I will move somewhere else when I have this little manufactured home paid off in a year. I don't really mind the packing/unpacking, but really enjoy decorating a new home. Thanks, Suzanne and everyone, on the veggie info. I thought I HAD to be eating them! Glad to hear that I don't. I am still losing, slowly but surely, but really would like to start seeing some inches coming off my waistline! That way it would balance out the rest of my body! lol

I do eat some veggies, just to get a little variety - also some berries.. I drink a protein shake in the mornings and will usually add 1/2 cup of berries (strawberry, raspberry or blueberry) dark cherries once in a great while (until the sack I have is gone).

It's hard to wrap my head around the fact that veggies aren't necessary, however, I'm getting better and don't eat nearly the amount that "they" recommend.

Suzanne, I do NOT envy you in moving - maybe the smaller house part, but I've lived here in the same house for about 25 years and just shudder at the mere thought of moving. I really would like to downsize... not the house, but the "stuff" in it... Maybe "one of these days"...

Wednesday: I spent the afternoon with a girlfriend at her home (which is more like a resort). She bought salads from Panera Bread & I brought a wine that she requested. We floated in her pool & did water aerobics. We then just sat around in the sun & enjoyed the day.

On the way home I stopped at the man's home that I've been dating for a month. My goal was to kiss. How about that statement. A month without a kiss. Check mark.

Now I'm home & will fix a turkey burger with some more spinach & bleu cheese. Days are GREAT. The temperature was fantastic, the sun hot, the water clear & friendship warm.

I am a very lucky woman! Connie emoticon

So, are you saying that if I have say...1/2C of V8 juice and maybe some of the veggies I do like, would be a sufficient alternative for having those 'green' veggies (i.e.broccoli, spinach, etc.) that I can't stand? I'm good with eating lots of beef and some chicken and all. I will try to cut down on my cheese. Although I do love a slice on my burgers as well as some cheddar in my scrambled egg. Also an occasional string cheese as a snack.

True!
Gary taubes says there is no necessary carb. I run with that. But, the majority of people like vegetables and variety.
Btw, taubes does eat vegetables himself.

She will tell you that you don't really need any. For me I eat very little tomatoes, no carrots unless there are shreds in a salad, not too many onions. Tomatoes, onions, and carrots are all a bit higher in sugars than the green veggies.

Thanks from me too, Suzanne! I have no problem with eating lots of meat (beef mostly) and eggs, but I don't like very many vegetables. My choices are celery, tomatoes, bell peppers, onion, garlic, fresh snap green beans (once in awhile), iceberg lettuce, cukes, and raw carrots. I also like corn and beets, but they are high in carbs, so I don;t eat them. Would I be better off have a 4 or 8oz glass of V8 juice?? There isn't that many carbs in that. I drink a lot of water and flavor enhanced drinks (all no carbs or anything), and one or two cups of decaf tea with a drop or two of heavy cream. I love cheese and usually put one slice of 1 carb American on my burgers. I don't drink alcohol and can resist the breads and pastas. I'm still a bit hooked on the RusselStover SF candies, but limited myself to only 1 a day now. Any suggestions? Especially would like your opinion on the low carb veggie problem. Tks!

I am restructuring my menu starting today. I was losing quite well, and started getting carb creep, telling myself fiber bars, plums, and peas were okay. I am up about 7 lbs in the past week including a cheat.

So back to basics. I got me some chicken thighs, and going to eat about 1.5 lbs a day plus a can of tomatoes, and 1/2 an onion split into 2 meals, along with a Tbsp. of olive oil to bump up the fat. I have a few days of chicken breast left, but they don't taste as good as the thighs. I need the extra fat. My breakfast will continue to be 5 eggs, 2 Tbsp. butter and 1 cup mushrooms. This cuts my carbs in half, down to 33, with 6 from fiber. It moves my fat back to 60%, and protein to 33%, and just 7% carbs. I eat the same meals daily, and like them, so I have no idea why I make any changes.

I ate this way to lose most of my weight, and every 6 months or so I get the urge to add more carbs back in, sure that I can " do it right " this time. I am still at 223, so nothing I can't lose in 2-3 days, but I still think the idea that we have to add carbs back in eventually is just so ingrained in our thoughts that we stop listening to our bodies, which are doing just fine at 30 g of carbs or less. I think that other than mushrooms, tomatoes, onions, and the small amounts in cheese or eggs, I am going to ignore all other carbs for a while. I don't crave or miss carbs, so why do I feel the need to add them in? At least I am not eating potato salad..lol.

Today is beautiful here in Michigan. It was 64 and sunny, and I took a 1 hour walk along the river. Plans for today include reading, napping, and watching a baseball game tonight.

I got great news from my cardiologist. She cut my dose in half for one of my heart pills, since my BP was getting low. I have been averaging 95/60, but was measured at 88/43. Too low she said. So maybe it IS true.. low carb is dangerous.. of lowering your BP too much. This is the 4th pill I have cut my dose in half ( actually this is 25 % of my original dose for this one pill ), and I have eliminated 3 completely( 2 for diabetes, 1 cholesterol ).

Hope everyone is having a great day.

Not doing much here today. We have sharpen about 200 pencils. I know that alot of pencils. I have 3 in school and two are 6 so they get loss easy. I got them for .49 a box of 20 I may even pick up about 10 more boxes for the twins have to take a few boxes to school for the teacher.

Its so wet here because we have got lots of rain the past few days. I want it to stop so we can pick up our new couch and love seat that we got such a good deal on. Recliners in each end and they are brown soft leather. I don't really like leather but it cleans up easy with little ones. The regular price was over $1800 for both they had been marked down to or three times to a low of $1100. but I asked for a discount because it was the floor one that we would be picking up for it was the last one(clarance) and I got it. I paid $900 for both. half of the regular price. My hubby was laughing at me when I asked but when I saved $200 more off of it he was not laughing then........I told him never hurts to ask.

Back on track with my low carb eating and I have lost 3 of the pounds that I had went up so I think it was water more than anything.

This is the link to the Atkins website. even tho I dont fully do it the atkins way anymore I do still eat from the atkins food list/eat. I just count carbs different than they do.

Thanks Heidi. I don't really eat sporadically. I eat breakfast, lunch and dinner and once in awhile a snack in the afternoon or evening. I have been sporadic in my tracking and just picked it up again. Once in awhile on the weekends I may pick at things but only things on plan. Except last weekend because I was frustrated I thought well maybe if I up my carbs for a day or two maybe it will force something to happen. Nothing happened.

Keep at it Faith, it'll happen. I looked at your food tracker and it also looks like you eat sporadically- maybe if you keep it balanced and spread throughout the day?

Suzanne, besides meat what do you eat?

I got caught in the rain last night- it wasn't cold but it was wet! Once I got home and cooled off though I got chilled. Got into my jammies and snuggled up with chamomile tea and Good Calories, Bad Calories- a little light reading! Tonight will be the same; walking the dog , most likely in the rain and then tucking in. It's still early here (10:16 am) so I have a l l d a y left to go- have I mentioned I hate my job?

1. Stop wasting money- Save money

2. Exercise- do something every day

3. Get organized- mise en place

4. Write a letter by hand at least once a week.

I rarely eat off plan but I think it may be the cream and cheese that do me in. I hear you!

Ok, if you want to lose weight it is simple. Cut your carbs. Eat meat, eggs, and low carb vegetables. You do not need to exercise more or eat less. It is about eating the right stuff.
Stay away from the cream, cheese, and lc junk. No soda. One coffee a day. No alcohol.
You guys know this! But, I am just reminding you.
I have ten years of success. But, I never eat off plan. I made it through a pregnancy with horrible candy cravings. The death of my father. Marital issues. Infertility. But, I never eat cake. Just not an option.

Faith, I hear you. I've been hovering around this weight for months, maybe years. Of course, most of that is because I have trouble resisting carbs when I'm at Mom's house, so keep losing my fat-burning mode.

I actually resisted them fairly well yesterday (I'm staying with Mom right now as she isn't feeling well), certainly below 100 NC and maybe below 50. Didn't track, but everything I ate was reasonably low carb.

Good morning everyone. I am trying some different strategy to try to get my weight loss moving downward. This past year I have really only lost about 20 lbs. I must have breakthrough with this. I have been stuck in the 230's and at 230 or so for months. Got down as low as 226 after a fat fast but then went right back up.

I seriously considered going low fat and lower calories. I know - heresy, huh. I am going to lower my calories and fat but just some. I am doing more exercise and will focus on chicken and seafood. Less cheese, less heavy cream, less coffee. Adding green veggies better. I am down a pound today. But it is still the 230.8. Will see how it goes. Also slowing down on the flax meal and maybe actually watching carbs, not "net" carbs.

My first day back at work. I had a hard time getting up this morning and am tired already. But fortunately not overwhelmed with work (yet). Also forgot to get a roast in the crock-pot before I left this morning, so not sure what we're having for supper now. Have a great day, everyone!

No major plans for me today either. I AM finally getting back on track with my work outs and Low Carb eating though. At least I've managed to keep my weight down during this time and even have lost a couple lbs. Fortunately, I knew that if I didn't get 'going' again, the weight would start coming back. So I needed to do this for myself. It sure was nice to see 146 though! Not logical that I would have lost that much...the way I was eating. lol Back to my Cheeseburgers, no bread, pasta, potatoes, etc. (sigh) lol My new goal, however, is now 135. (old one was 145)..figured I might as well go for more! Anyways, taking my dog, Little Bear, to the groomers this morning and might go sit on the beach and read for awhile. OH! And, all my annual tests and check ups...were all great!! My doctor tells me I'm in excellent health! Guess I must be doing something right! Have a great day everyone!

The house goes on the market this week! I cannot wait to have a smaller house. This one is just too much work. Four bathrooms? Never again! But, it will probably take a while to sell. And I dread packing. But, not the end of the world.
Not major plans today. I have already showered and had breakfast. Will take a walk with James when he wakes up.
