My mother told me that a woman never gets to retire because after my Dad retired, she still had to cook, iron, clean, take care of animals and kids. emoticon

Now, I tell my daughter the same thing.

LOL! I remember that I had an annual reminder on my electronic calendar counting the years to reach my retirement date. I retired 3 years earlier than what was set for my electronic calendar. YIPPEE! Every single day is a joyous day. If a bad day starts (like yesterday's a/c situation) I remember all the stress, multiple tasks, unhappy situations within the work environment & I know . . . my life is much better retired! YIPPEE!

Give me a data set any day over fighting with the sprinkler system. Every couple of weeks I help move sprinkler pipe down the pasture -- great exercise, but something always goes wonky with at least one line.

Twelve years to my retirement, Betty. And yes, I'm counting!

As I was going to St. Ives,
I met a man with seven wives,
Each wife had seven sacks,
Each sack had seven cats,
Each cat had seven kits:
Kits, cats, sacks, and wives,
How many were there going to St. Ives?

You gals make me feel guilty with all your businessiness, etc. I didn't do anything productive today except fight with my sprinkler system control...

I actually felt bad because I was so lazy, now after reading all your posts, I really feel bad! emoticon

But... I'm over it now!! emoticon

Boyohhowdy, have I had a long day... My invisible (busy, distracted, ADD) boss was a no-show in the office again today (out trolling a customer through his fields), and once again I cannot finish year end! This is really getting frustrating - and the CPA is going to be hung up too shortly. End of rant.

Right after work I had an investment club meeting, and that lasted until after 7:00. I'm pooped. Came home and cooked pecan crusted cod and fed the boys, and now I'm done!! Okay, I'll be done after I clean up the kitchen...

Worked today. Got the snags figured out in one of our data sets so the reports are running clean and beautifully. Worked a bit to update our SharePoint team site and document center, then built a couple of custom widgets to pull longitudinal test scores for the student profile in our new data display system. I think students and parents will like the immediate visual access to all test data - classroom, district and state.

AKHEIDI - your trip sounds delightful. I'm not sure what tips to give you other than keep yourself in control and not too hungry when sitting down for the tea event. And it's only a week.

A crumpet, perhaps not. The petit fours yes. Scone with clotted cream, yes. tea sandwiches, yes. I'll definitely get my exercise in and I don't eat fast food so for the event we're attending we'll have to find something good to bring with us. It's the dinners and what not- I love seafood(different from what we get here) so that will be on the agenda, and the veg should be pretty darn good this time of year so I'll be having some of those. I'll for sure be taking my glucomannan, that does help to fill me up before a meal.

2. Exercise- do something every day

3. Get organized- mise en place

4. Write a letter by hand at least once a week.

Every day this side of the sod is a good day-

That's the problem with summer... so many "special events". But if we were to throw caution to the wind every time a special event occurs, then there goes the WOE, right out the window. I keep telling myself "all of these special treats will still exist someday when I am at my goal and stable". On the other hand though, I also won't completely sacrifice today for a potential tomorrow. So, one has to decide what is worth it, and what isn't. For me, a crumpet wouldn't be worth it. Fruit dipped in a chocolate fountain would be. lol

You guys are all ahead of me by a few hours so I always show up late. I'm at work and supposed to be working. I've been busy but I'm not getting anything accomplished- it's nice out and I really have more important things to do than my job emoticon .

My mind is on bills, the weekend, an upcoming trip that has me worried about my eating.

I have zero will power and I'm going to Long Beach in 2 weeks for a week. We're staying on the Queen Mary- ever looked at their menus? I'm a sucker for High Tea- there is NOTHING LC on a high tea menu except the tea. Not sure just what I'm going to do about that.

If I had leave I'd be so out of here! It's supposed to be almot 80 tomorrow and I am so tempted to take it off anyway. . .

I wish I was out enjoying the weather. Our commercial season starts in two weeks, and I'm training our newbies on how to collect the data. I just gave them a 20 minute break because I need it.

I wish I was busy! I am a horrible procrastinator. I always think I'm going to get so much done over the summer, and then I waste a ridiculous amount of time! I have gotten a few projects started and/or done, but need to get my butt in gear! Today: weeds!!!

Good question! It must be the summer weather. Everyone's either out and about enjoying the warm weather or prostrate with the heat and can't even find the energy to type!

I've just been mostly busy on a task that's taxing my brain too much. I just clicked "Send", though, so the file is done and I'm taking a breather before I dive in to the next stack.

*breathes in, breathes out*

OK. That's it, then.
