I am so NOT looking forward to the shots that is for sure. Plus I will have to drive 2 hours one way every week for three weeks to get them to make matters even worse. The steriod shots get hurt me anymore i have had so many of them because of my breathing. The rooster comb stuff they say is thick and takes a few minutes to do so I am not ready but I am willing to try to hang in there and have it done.

yes the pain is bad enough but then when you cant move around either that seems to make it even worse. I do the wall walk often and my kids think I am crazy. I have a cane but I just don't like to use it until I see if I am going to be able to let go of the wall or not for that day.

They said I would know when in the next week if I can get the shots or not. So maybe soon I will be pain free for awhile. I have faith that they will pay for them and that they will work for me.

Teresa - I know what it's like to be in pain anytime you move. I hurt my foot about 4 years ago, and it was so painful. I didn't break it, but had wrenched it so bad that I was in pain for 3 years. Special shoes and socks to cushion the foot. I didn't realize how important a foot was. I had to overcompensate on the other foot just to hop around the house, which hurt my knee and back. It has finally healed after 3 years, but I really wasn't sure I would ever be the same.

LOL! I'd probably be in seventh heaven if I only saw DH every other week! I love the guy, but he makes me a little crazy. Then again, I have the 2 boys still under my roof. Once they're both off on their own I might appreciate the old man a little more, lol! (I'm actually laughing because he's 9 years younger than me but acts about 10 years older! He's well on track to being one of those old coots yelling at kids to get the heck off his lawn!)

Don't tell me what you believe; show me what you do and I will tell you what you actually believe.

I hope your knee gets better- I don't like those shots I get them in my back. I had one once in my hip and screamed like a little girl.

My husband is gone ALL the time- I get tired of it but not as tired as I get of him when he is home. He works ona ship a week on/week off. If he takes a week off, that gives him 3 weeks at home. After the first week I'm like "don't you have somewhere to go or someone to see?". Drives me nuts. From April through October he fishes too so he's never around to stain the house, fix things what break, go anywhere with me, sigh. I've gotten good about fixing things my own self, if I can't do it, I know who can. He's called me in SF before to ask what todo about the furnace. He also thinks he gets to make major decisions- nope- not around enough.

1. Stop wasting money- Save money

2. Exercise- do something every day

3. Get organized- mise en place

4. Write a letter by hand at least once a week.

Every day this side of the sod is a good day-
not sure who said it

PT has helped me tremendously between my first and second total knee. Find a really good one! I used a walker for about 10 years until my md was milling to do the surgery. He held off because of my overweight. I never did lose the weight until after my first TKA. By the way there is a good team on here that is all about Total joint replacements. They have a lot of infor and are very supportive. You might want to check them out.

Hope the shots do the trick for you.

The Dr today said he would do the total knee replacement for my my left knee is that bad but if it was him he would try the shots first. He pretty much let me decided. I am not looking forward to having surgery so I picked the shots if we can get them. Its been raining here and that has set it off again. I have days that I can live with it then days that well I am in pain all day no matter what I do. When I get out of bed I have to wall walk for a few minutes because its so stiff and sore. I have two knots on it that never goes away.
I am so looking forward to it feeling better even if it takes surgery in the end. The Dr that I did have would not do the surgery because of my age but he also told me that my knee was to far gone for the shots to help he was not ever willing to for me to try them. PT again and weight was what he said I need to do to help it feel better until I was older. I was not looking for someone that would just "do" the surgery I wanted someone that would try to help me and not toss it off on losing weight pretty much.

Woubbie - I am always a little relieved when Monday comes and hubby goes back to work so I can get back to my schedule of cleaning, washing, cooking and running errands. Nothing gets done on weekends and we tend to eat out too much on the weekends.

Teresa - I am sorry to hear about your knee problems. It sounds really painful. Hope you can get the shots. Let us know how you are doing.

FYI Theresa...I love my new knees! It has been 2 years since my first. I was so miserable and it took a long time for my MD to be willing to do them. I had them done 1 year apart. I am a new person between the new knees and losing almost 90 pounds! emoticon

I am ready for a nap. wake up call was 5am and I had to drive two hours one way to see a Dr for my knee. I am so sleepy now. Anyway they are going to try to give me one of the rooster comb type shots for my knee if they can get them paid for. It takes a set of three and they cost $$$ each shot. He said if that did not work which I have about a 50% then total knee replacement is all that would be left to do for the pain.

Feeling hot, hot, hot!!

I know, wrong thread.

I was behind on walking today, so I decided to do a full 20 minutes outside at lunchtime and it WAS hothothot. I'll probably get at least 5 or 10 bonus minutes in today, and that means a second sticker on my calendar!!!!! (Yes, I AM very childlike. emoticon )

The boys are both away at church camp this week and all day today I keep feeling like I'm supposed to be calling someone or waking someone up or picking someone up, but no, it's just me and the DH this week. Now, if I can just get rid of HIM for a day or two I'll have it made!

Don't tell me what you believe; show me what you do and I will tell you what you actually believe.

Maw, I'm with Terr - I'm so glad this cat ended up being fostered by you. It sounds like she needs a stable, environment that will let her heal. She might not be happy in a home with kids.

I'm back at work, after working on client stuff most of yesterday! No emails from the home office (that's a good thing) but I could tell she'd logged in to look over our accounting. It's going to get warm here today, but right now I have both office windows open and there's a nice breeze circulating through. My boss is out touring a customer through his fields and he's the last hold-up to finishing year end. I think I will have a quiet, relaxing day since there's not much else I can do without some vital input from my boss! ("quiet, relaxing day" means I might as well do some personal stuff as long as I'm stuck here!!)

On my way to work. While the extra money I am making this summer is very welcome, I am hoping to get at least a week off before school starts again. My house is in desperate need of attention.

Maw -- both my kitties were abused prior to moving in with us. Wingnut had lost an eye and been burned. Spirit was half starved and scared of everything. I am happy your foster kitties are in a loving home with you. I know they feel safe and loved.

Maw - I have had the same feeling for the last few days - Summer is almost over. Even the Hallmark channel has started to show their Xmas movies already. I guess some stores have their Xmas in July sales going on now - especially the quilt shops.

I'm sure it was nice to have the little kittens for a while, but they could be like having a fulltime job.

Well, today the scales moved a couple of pounds. That was due to my experimenting with a fat fast yesterday. I had read in my Fat Fast cookbook an article by Jimmy Moore that he eats about 85% fat, 12% protein and 3% carb on a regular basis. So, I tweaked my day's eating to fit into those percentages, and this morning I lost 2 pounds. This is probably like just being on Induction. I will stay with these percentages for a while and see if I have better weight loss results.

Today, I will be getting a grocery list together, going to the store, and cleaning house and preparing food. Now, that I have said that, the phone will ring and blow my plans away.

The month is almost half over! And it always seems like once July 4 rolls around the summer is practically over. The public schools here are starting the first week of August. Next year, the teachers will go back the end of July. It's a good thing the schools are air conditioned.

I'll pick some goodies from my garden today to take to the food pantry (I'm doing a meat and egg fast for the next couple of weeks so won't be eating it myself), play some bridge, and get a brace for my arthritic knee. The doc seemed to think it would help when I go back to Idaho for two weeks and help Mom clean out the house prior to moving into a retirement home. That, a bit of shopping now that I have a working fridge, and some housekeeping should keep me busy.

I think my foster cat must have been abused in the past, or at least treated harshly. She is very skittish and flinches at every sound or movement. On the other hand, she likes to sit on my lap and be petted. I think I prefer fostering adult cats to fostering kittens. That last batch of kittens just about wore me out just watching them!
