It was a nice night here, not hot at all and a little wind. The twins and my teens enjoyed the fireworks at the lake.. It was packed again this year tho but going there saves us at least $100 if not more so we will go again next year.
Other than a bbq meal and fire works we really dont do much either. Hubby and I like to be home as well as the twins.
Haha, Woubbie, my kinda day too! A friend and I went out to the beach at a local state park before the crowds and took my boys and her Daschund/Jack Russell mix. Chaser, my toothless little rescue, tried to kill hers but we handled it and they ended up buds. We left there and went to the nice dog park west of me and in slightly sunnier weather. The boys had a great time!! Whiskey is an old dog park pro, but I doubt Chaser ever went to one before landing in my house. He ran like a maniac! And after I realized he'd slowed way down we decided to leave.
They are power napping now, and I admit to a power nap myself! :) Did a little client work, played a Facebook game, and have generally had a lovely day. Last year at this time I was dealing with a gigantic rat trapped in my garage and the news that a former coworker (on whom I had relied for 11 years) had committed suicide. This year has been much more tranquil.
I think about the Declaration of Independence and our Constitution all the time thanks to the regular contact with Danish counterparts at work. This is a unique country with a very independent, strong, and also brief history. I can understand why people doing business with us from Denmark just don't understand us! They think I should make direct deposit mandatory for employees AND vendors because they are encouraged (required?) to do so through the European Union. That would go over like a lead balloon in this country! We are a group of individuals who like doing things our own way and the idea that something like our personal banking choices be mandated is appalling. LOL I really love our independence in thinking, living, beliefs, and choices. God bless America!
Now why am I singing Toby Keith's "I Love This Bar"...???

"Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world." --Albert Einstein

We don't do much in the way of celebrating these days. The kids long ago decided they didn't care much for fireworks, my DH hates crowds, and I like spending my rare days off at home. So here we sit, in cool air-conditioned comfort, playing our various games and enjoying the freedom to do whatever we want! Say a prayer that all people around the world someday get to enjoy this as well!
The great enemy of truth is very often not the lie--deliberate, contrived and dishonest--but the myth--persistent, persuasive and unrealistic. Too often we hold fast to the cliches of our forebears. We subject all facts to a prefabricated set of interpretations. We enjoy the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.
