Leslie, I used to audit a tractor manufacturing company in Montana. On the plains. In the summer. The "office" that they gave us was an upstairs corner of the metal building where they built the tractors. Not only was it hot, but all the diesel fumes went up there, too. Oh, the glamorous life of an accountant!

I dove face first into the year end work this morning, and by about 2:00 was absolutely baking! My office is on the second floor corner of a metal warehouse building (yes, every bit as glam as it sounds!), and that whole corner (upstairs and downstairs) turns into a convection oven in hot weather. I survived, but I'll be glad when our heatwave is over. I'm also thrilled to only have a three day work week too, but I have to get a TON of work done the week following. Not looking that far ahead... :) I really need this four day weekend.

I ate too many nuts today (my salute to Kris!), but otherwise have been on track. I walked the boys this morning at 6:30 and it was lovely out then... LOL

I had a low grade headache today - been having those a lot lately. Saw my therapist, as I think it's likely to be tied to some anger I've also been having. I'm glad she could squeeze me in. She says I should take some time to have my obsessively angry thoughts on a daily schedule, a half hour or so, followed by some other planned, productive activity. At this point I'm ready to try anything. Still got two walks in today, and got my measurements recorded (it is the first of the month, after all.)

Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear, not absence of fear.

Ran some errands. Went to Wal-Mart, went to the library and checked out some movies. Nothing like free movies for 7 days! Then took care of some business. Now I'm watching some shows I've DVR'd and Sparking. :)

I made my protein drink; put it by the back door, my phone rang, someone came to the front door . . . LOL! I grabbed my bags that held my water . . . but forgot my protein drink. Seriously .. .. I really gave my body a SHOCK . . . I didn't even figure out why I was feeling so weak during the 2nd hour of class. Afterwards, I sat down & analyzed that I need more protein in between classes. THEN . . . I remembered I didn't have my protein shake.

OMG . . . I had to focus to clean up the outside pool deck. Then I still had to clean up the inside pool deck. I was an athlete for many years . . and I remembered this feeling . . . weak, out of focus . . and I used that training to focus & make my movement efficient. My body didn't have anything to pull from . . . so at least maybe some fat got digested for energy. I just hope it didn't go into muscle.

My mantra was . . . "I'm almost there." over & over & over. I know my physical being is going to suffer for the abuse. RATS! I'm still drinking the shake . . . it's better to drink it slowly when the body is empty. I have 40 oz of water next to me so I'm going from protein shake to water.

I have my timer set for 2 hours. At that time, I'll make a cheese omlet with some green pepper & take my time eating. I now have put a container of protein powder in my workout bag. Now, I can mix it with my water & take care of myself. Hopefully I don't do this often. Whewwwww . . .

No yard work or biking today. Live & learn. Sometimes I need to be reminded. Two more classes tonight. I'll rest and be smart.

I'm still happy! I know how to recover. I wish I had at least 12 hours but I'll hydrate & put more protein into the physical machine. Connie

Happy Monday, all!

Sooooo glad this is a three day week for me. I was pretty unsatisfied by my weekend and I'd like some time off to recoup! Of course I now have to squash 6 days of work (the Thursday and Friday I was off plus M, Tu, W, F of this week) into the 3 days I'll actually be here. I better get back to it!
