The little darling will be put to rest today. This will be the parents hardest day of their life. I still cant wrap my hands around the fact that she is gone, its just so unreal to me so I know they cant deal with it at all. I look at my Julia which is 6 also and I just don't know how or if I would make it if something like that happen to her. I feel so bad for her parents and twin brother. There are no words that could ever easy the pain and it will take a long time for time to help any either.
everyone keep her family in mind today and hug your kids.
Just got back in town late last night and just read this thread this morning. I feel so sorry for you Teresa and the mother of the little girl and the whole family. So sad - I didn't even know someone could die of a tick bite. My daughter's schnauzer gets at least one tick every summer. Now, she has a little two-year old girl. So, I will be sure and tell her to watch out for ticks.

My friend lives in NC but I am in TN. I have been battling ticks on the dogs all summer but so far I have not found any stuck to us. I hope I don't because now it will worry the far out of me if I do. I know her mom will beat herself up over this for a long time because she is a Nurse. She already feels like she missed something that she should have saw before if got to far to cure. So I think she blaming herself already.
This could happen to any of us that is why I wanted to post it here so you guys would maybe look at a tick bite more serous than maybe you use to. I know in the past I would just get the tick off and that would be that but now I will be looking at the spot for a few days and watching the way my kids act....to me a tick is a tick no matter the kind pretty much but we have those seed ticks here bad, they are so tiny they are easy to miss.
I'm so very sorry to hear this. Three of my girls/daughters are in Heaven. You just never know. It is devastating. We have tons of ticks where we summer. You try to keep the kids out of the woods and look them over!

The great enemy of truth is very often not the lie--deliberate, contrived and dishonest--but the myth--persistent, persuasive and unrealistic. Too often we hold fast to the cliches of our forebears. We subject all facts to a prefabricated set of interpretations. We enjoy the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.

A friend of mine that also has b/g twins has lost the little girl to a tick bite. She was only 6 years old and got bit by a tick and it gave her tick fever. Her family is very upset this child was born at 26 weeks and made it threw that to only live 6 years. I am at a lost of words for her family and being that my g/b twins are only 6 years old this really hits close to home for me. Her mom and dad is a older mom and dad 40' something they wanted a baby a long time before the twins cam along.
So please if you or yours gets a tick bite be very careful about treating and watching it for a few day.
