Thanks, Gail. I'm nervous about the whole instant menopause thing, but I am ready to have this done. I am planning on deep cleaning the living room and bedroom where I'll be spending most of my time. I also made some meals and froze them for later to make it easier on my family.

Great, Jen! I'm 12 years quit now, but I remember it like it was only a season or two back. Brrrrr.

I gained a bunch in the year after I quit too. Not QUITE deliberately, but I put all my mental energy into staying off cigarettes. Welcome back! You've done a great couple of things for yourself!

Welcome back, Jen. And congratulations on 8 months without smoking! I've heard that is the absolute hardest addiction to kick. Way to go!

I have been away for a while, I quit smoking and quit low carb at the same time. It has been 8 months no smoking and eating carbs. Put on 30 pounds in that time. Yesterday I started back on low carb and hope to lose the 30 to 40 pounds this year.

maw, that sounds great fostering for a bit. my friend fostered for a time after she lost her cat. down the road she was going to africa for a couple months, so, she wasn't ready to commit to another cat. she fostered 2 pairs of kittens for a few weeks each. so cute and so fun to play with. then when she came back from africa she was ready to adopt her new cat.

we fostered a dog for the spca in august 2011. he needed post op care after surgery for several weeks. alas, we are foster failures and ended up adopting him emoticon

good luck with your surgery fitkris. i had a hysterectomy. remember when you are able to get out of bed after to try to walk upright. it is easier then walking around hunched (which you want to do) and then graduating to walking straight.

also make sure your bedroom is as neat and cozy as possible. you'll be spending alot of time in there. emoticon

Oh, Teresa, my buddy FlyLady, has something for everyone!

These are her FlyKids Challenges that ALMOST make cleaning up fun.

My kids still won't clean unless I tell them to, but they're actually pretty competent at it, and when they go to other kids' houses they're usually some of the neatest ones there. (I about fell over the first time my youngest came home from camp complaining about how messy his tentmate was. Coulda knocked me over with a FlyDuster!

I just got back from the shelter and the kittens and cats are so cute! I got to stay and play with them for a while.

Virgil (at the shelter) said that they need foster homes for kittens (have to be 8 weeks old before they can be put up for adoption), nursing mamas, strays that they want to find out more about, cats that are shy and need to get used to being around people, and cats that are on medication or have other health issues. I said that the reason I was leery of kittens was that while they might be litterbox trained, they didn't always make it to the box in time. He said that what he recommends is that they be kept in the bathtub, if there happens to be an extra one! Which I have, in a bathroom that isn't used. So that's a possibility. He showed me the dogs, too, and I said that I'd have a dog if I had a fenced in back yard. His response (he had an answer for everything!) was that they have some dogs that need to be kept inside except for leash walks and potty breaks. So that's an option, too. Way too many options. Best of all, I explained my scheduling issues (I'll be gone this weekend, then gone again for two weeks the end of July/first of August, and another 5 or 6 days or so in September), and he said that two to 4 weeks is perfect for a lot of situations, and that he'll pick out animals to fit my schedule. I can hardly wait to get back!

My Julia would take in tons of cats if I would let her. She loves them.

Its a hot day here. I am hoping it will cool off some this afternoon so the twins can play outside some. They love the outside but cant handle the heat that well, and I don't want them to get to hot.

Been doing some wash today and bathroom cleaning. The boys seem to make a big mess in theirs for some reason. They are old enough not to make such a mess and to pick up after themself.

Today (first day of summer break) has actually started off pretty well. My boys needed to be at their strength training class by 8, and the weather was beautiful, so I took the dog for a walk while they were working out. They're over at my dad's for the rest of the day spreading mulch in his yard and playing bridge, so daughter and I will spend the rest of the day hanging out at home.

Maw, I think that's a great idea too, fostering cats! Nothing can replace your Tanny, but having another furry friend will make it less lonely. I hate it when our dog is at my parent's or brother's house while we do home improvement projects, I keep expecting to see her but she's not there. Such a weird feeling.

I am having a hysterectomy and bladder/rectal repair. Doesn't that sound fun?! Something I've put off for a few years but this is the last year I can use my banked sick time since we switched to a PTO system a few years ago. So, time to get 'er done. I'll be off work for 4 weeks.

My Tuesday is off to a much better start than yesterday and I'm pretty sure it's because I got about seven and a half hours of sleep! I sympathize with you, Fitkris, and I hope the vet can get Cloe stabilized.

Today I'm doing payroll and churning out some other payments. I got home late from work last night but I still managed to workout and a few other things. Tonight I have to do some client work, and I'm making going to bed on time a high priority!

Maw, I'm glad you're going to foster cats. I could not do it and then let go! There's some kind of underground Schnauzer network that has passed my name around so any time I have had to let go of a Schnauzer I end up with another one knocking on my door. Literally. I make eye contact one time and I know the dog is staying! :) I bet you meet your next cat through fostering...

Hi, everyone!

Ugh, I hate trying to function on not enough sleep. I do it all the time, unfortunately, but I still hate it. Yesterday was rough because my 2 cats decided there was something outside that they absolutely MUST go out and deal with, and they tag-team meowed most of an hour. Between 1 and 2am no less. I refuse to let them dictate when we let them out (there's a litter box downstairs they can use, so no excuse) so I just had to tough it out. Of course, everyone else slept right through it!

I'm still playing catch up at work from taking Friday off. That's the one thing I hate about taking vacation days, you just end up working so much harder before them and after them!

Maw, that's an excellent idea to foster kitties for a while! I was just reading SKINNYINMYHEAD's blog last night about her raising service dogs and how hard it is to part with them once they're trained.

Have a great day, all!

I'm sorry things are rough for you at the moment, Debbie. Hang in there! Someone said that when the rest of their life was out of control, that's when it's most important to be in control of their food. Sometimes that's the only thing we can control.

Kris, I hope you get some sleep tonight! And that the surgery goes well and the docs can find out what's wrong with Chloe and fix her. What surgery are you having, if you don't mind me asking?

It's a beautiful day here today! I woke up early, too, and lazed around in bed until about 6:00, then got up and took my tea and a book out on to the back porch to listen to the birds. My volunteer session at the library this morning was cancelled, so I'm home goofing off. This afternoon I talk to somone at the Humane Society/animal shelter about fostering cats until I get another one of my own.

I know how it is not to be able to sleep. I get in about 4 hours most of the time then when I am wore out I can sleep about 6 or 7 that's after days of about 4 hours tho. 4 hours has been my normal for a long time now, so you would think I would be use to it but I am not. Everyone says that is a age thing, that is as you get older you sleep less. I think its because I worked nights for so many years and went to sleep about 2am and was up about 6am with the kids the next morning. Back then I would take a nap with them tho but now days if i nap in the day time I don't sleep well during my 4 ish hours at night..like now I could be asleep for my twins still are but no I cant sleep been awake since about 6'30 or so.

Dr.s have gave me sleepiing pills and they work for like a month then they stop working.

I'm home and back on schedule again , I've been real I don't know how to put it into words I guess down! I'm not happy with myself so I'm eating very bad and I'm not happy I feel like I'm just existing in my marriage I love husband , but that spark is really not there right now I know it has to do with the issues we have had! I hate my one job love my other! Wish I could quit! But dh isn't getting paid every week so that's a strain! I just feel over whelmed! I'd live to just escape and sit on the beach all b myself! Lol!

Weather is finally starting to feel almost summer like here. Very tired today, Cloe got me up at 12:30 this morning and I couldn't go back to sleep. Kept thinking about my upcoming surgery and couldn't shut my mind down. Got up at 2:00 and got on my laptop. I just bought a Nook HD+ last night so I ordered a case for it, went back to bed a little after 3:00. The night before wasn't much better and I am really feeling it today with that headache that comes from lack of sleep. I'll try to get to bed early tonight. Cloe is going back to the vet on Friday for more tests and probably different medication. I hope to get her straightened out soon so we can all get some sleep.
