Okay, you guys are right! Gail, you cracked me up - if anyone knows someone who got hit by lightening twice it would be YOU! LOL Yes, the boys love riding around with me, so I'll keep taking them when I can. The security camera footage of the section of bridge falling showed how fast it really was, and that's just not something you can plan for. I don't mind being twitchy for a while - but you guys are right that I just have to keep living normally. Whiskey and Chaser sure are - they are happy and have NO clue. LOL

i know a guy who has been hit by lightening twice in his life. just sayin' emoticon sorry, i'm trying to be funny.
i worry about leaving my dogs at home, which i always do now that i have 3. when i had 1 or 2, they went everywhere with me. but, i'm always worried...what if there's a fire, what if there's a burglar (worry more about the dogs getting hurt than stuff being stolen), that kind of thing. so, since anything is possible, you just keep your puppies where you feel most comfortable. but, they want to go with you. emoticon

I agree with Maw. You're gonna have the creeps for a few days or weeks, but you can't let it change how you do things. It's like a lightning strike - not likely to happen again.

Of course you're upset by what happened, Leslie, but don't let it traumitize you. Are you thinking you might leave the dogs home so they don't get hurt in case you're in an accident? I'd take them with you. Keep things normal. How many times have you taken them places and nothing bad has happened? And nothing bad happened to you yesterday, either. If you're thinking of leaving them home because it's getting too hot for them to stay in the car, that's another matter. Yes, it was scary and traumatic and all that, but don't overreact to a freak accident. ({hugs })

I still get sick when I think about it - and I'm seriously thinking about leaving the dogs home more and not always taking them with me! That poor bridge took a massive blow from the truck that ripped though it. Tonight on the news they showed a short clip from nearby surveilance video and it all happened in one fluid motion - the truck kept going to the other end of the bridge while the first section dropped into the river! Gads. The news also had a picture of the big steel box that hit it and one corner is really crumpled. Traffic around here is paralyzed - we are very north-south oriented with I-5 and Hwy 99 running parallel to each other. It's weird seeing semis and other big trucks on side streets.

I'm really tired today and I hope I sleep better tonight! Couldn't do the last of the client work so I'll have to do it tomorrow. I keep telling the Schnauz-boys that I'm very glad we're all safe, and I just get the 'HUH?' look from them! Strangely reassuring! LOL

*shudders*

Gives me the heebie jeebies. A quote from PennDoT:

"With 25,000 state owned bridges, Pennsylvania has the third-largest number of bridges in the nation, but we lead the nation in the number of bridges classified as “structurally deficient.” The average age of bridges on the state system is over 50 years old."

Some money for infrastructure projects would be real good for the economy and for peoples' peace of mind.

My DH mentioned that on the way to his job he passed over at least 11 bridges of various sizes.

*shudders again*

gosh that bridge collapse even bothered me up here in bc, since i have crossed that bridge many times. i probably would've had a meltdown too if i had crossed it twice just before it collapsed. emoticon

Leslie, that is seriously scary!! Glad you're OK, I heard about it this morning and wondered if it was anywhere near you.

I'm wiped out today. That Washington State bridge that collapsed is about two or three miles from my house and I had crossed it twice that evening (going to the dentist client's office and then home) less than an hour before it fell. I drive over it all the time, and thinking that it was just a random collapse caused me to meltdown. I had both dogs with me, buckled into their seatbelts, and the whole thing was just too much to think even though I was home when I heard about it. Later when the news reported that an oversized load had slammed into it and caused the collapse I felt so much better - that's not so random.

Anyway, I'm so thankful that no I know was on it and that the people who did fall in with it are going to be okay. I had a hard time sleeping last night - all the helipcopters circling the site passed over my house, and the re-routed traffic was a pretty steady roar. I'm going to walk the boys after work and then pretty much stay home and take the evening off!!

Checking in since I have been kind of lame this month with the challenge. My eating has been good and I am trying to be more active. Riding the exercise bike and walking laps at the high school field getting ready for the Relay for Life. Thanks to the girls here that donated for the support for that event. I am almost half way to my goal right now with about 4 weeks left. I asked my PT guy last night if he would sponsor me. He wanted to know how many laps I thought I could do. I suggested that I would try to do 10 laps in the 24 hour period of the event. So he is going to give me $5 per lap. No pressure huh? I may be able to do more laps than that actually but that may be wishful thinking. I have a lot to do to get ready for it. Trying to get my legs and back stronger. Have a good day everyone.

It's a good thing that Drew and James are far enough apart age-wise that they won't be playing sports, etc. at the same time! Of course, it also means that you'll be going to games for a L-O-N-G time!

To Lowe's for some soil ammendments, then Christine is coming over this afternoon to dig the new garden bed. I'll plant the two small beds that I haven't done anything with yet. Tomorrow is my first full (6 hour) day at the library since my knee got so bad, and I'll be taking it a bit easy today.

James is up bright and early. I am grilling him and drew some sausages for breakfast. I am going to have eggs. Looks like more rain today, but I usually still get out there for a walk. This is a busy weekend for us, 4 soccer games, one baseball game!
