My first formal, away from home job interview trip (I was an Idaho kid in my last year in college interviewing with an international CPA firm's office in Newark) I made the mistake of ordering BBQ ribs at dinner. I don't think I had ever seen them in a restaurant before and was thrilled! Until they arrived and I realized I had no way to eat them. Oh well. I didn't want to live in Newark anyway.
my ribs were a success. i cooked them in the oven at 225 for 4.5 hours. then i made a sugar free bbq sauce and slathered them with that and cooked them for another 30 minutes. i wanted to get that crispy coating, so, then i tried broiling them for 8 minutes. i never quite got that crisp. perhaps need sugar to get that. but, they were delicious. but, i didn't get to eat them til 10pm cuz i had a huge job to do. i wanted to make fauxtato salad too but didn't have the time or energy to do that. cuz of my big job......
we had a monster red leaf maple tree taken down yesterday. it's over the horses' corral and barn area. we didn't know when we built the barn that red leaf maples are poisonous to horses when the leaves come down in fall. so, i have had to take horses somewhere else for a couple months every year. so, got a guy to cut it down yesterday. oh my, a huge maple sure fills a corral. we had to clean it all up last night, cuz the horses had to come back in. so, my dh and i worked for about 2.5 hours cleaning up all the branches and logs. then i had to keep going because every leaf had to be removed. couldn't chance the horses getting any. so, i was raking and taking out wheelbarrows of leaves for another couple hours and then i had to finish the barn chores. all in all i was out there about 5 hours, working pretty hard. i'm a bit sore today. not too bad, except for my one ankle. but, i was sure done by the time i came in last night. glad i won't have to do that again for awhile. although i'll still have to sort and organize the firewood, because we just threw that over the fence and now there's a mess outside the corral. we have so many trees you can't really even tell that this monster is gone.
It's turning into a ribby kind of week! I have country style ribs thawing in the fridge as we speak... I plann on cooking them on Saturday. :) Now I'm craving them!
I am hoping today is quiet and ordinary. My boss is back from his trip and there are two customers visiting from Japan. I have to work for the dentist client after work and then I'll try to get his stuff finished Friday after work. My plan is to have NO client work to do over the three day weekend. I may be exhausted by Saturday morning, but I want to have all three days to myself!! I really need it.

Ribs are meant to be finger food, and grease is just part of the package. Years ago, my ex and I went to a rib place with some friends for dinner. Even though everyone, including the waiter, said eat with your fingers, he was determined to be refined and eat them with a knife and fork. He ended up flipping a rib into his neighbor's lap.
Messy eating is part of growing up. Have the dinner outside, and then just hook up a hose, and spray him off.. . He'll probably love it. Great food, exercise, and family fun.
Now I'm hungry for ribs. Where did I put my bib?
I am stuck in the house because it is pouring rain today. I feel pretty good though. The pain from my kidney stones seems to be gone, so hopefully I'm over that. I am full of energy, and can't take a walk. All I got for a coat is a hoodie, which is enough for me in the winter, since I like it cold, but not much use in the spring rain.

;( Poor kitty! (Poor Maw too!) Well, FlyLady would definitely approve of the shoes, at least.
Just another busy working day. Coming up on some deadlines and trying to keep focused.
Man, do I ever need this 3 day weekend!!!! We don't have much scheduled as far as I can tell, which is another blessing! Next week will be a little dicey, though. DH starts his new school career on Tuesday, and the kids are still in school for another 2 weeks, so mornings are going to be a mess for a little while.
Happy Thursday, everyone!

Sounds yummy, though, Suzanne! James is a lucky little tyke to get them.
Not much planned for today. The cat woke me up about 6 am as she threw up on the bed. And then discovered, by stepping in it, that she'd done the same thing in the living room. And the laundry room. Oh well. It's better for me to wear shoes or slippers around the house anyway.
I wanted to comment on cooking ribs from yesterday's thread. I wrap mine in foil and do low heat for a few hours. But, at the end, in open the foil and set it to broil to get the fat crispy. James loves ribs. Very messy for him though. All his food is messy. Greasy meat and eating with your hands is gross! But, not many other choices at this age!
