Ohhh. Brazilian! I've got some serious cleaning to do tomorrow and I was wondering what I should ask for on Pandora. Brazilian it is! Thanks for the idea/

FitKris - I know what you mean about the Schnauzies and the paw prints in the car.

I listened to Pandora streaming thru my TV while I cleaned yesterday, and I listened to the category Brazilian music. For me, it is the perfect cleaning music. They play such things like Girl from Ipanema, etc.

I will be doing more cleaning today. emoticon

Ha ha, another schnauzer parent - love it! I have a 13 year old schnauzer named Cloe.

All this discussion of flylady motivated me to vacuum and wipe down the inside of my car. That's been on my to do list for way too long! I guess I am a lapsed flybaby, I seem to go in spurts with her, but even when I'm not subscribed to the emails, I still have her voice in my head telling me I can do anything for 15 minutes. Although this took me much longer than 15 minutes, I'm smiling because when I drive to work tomorrow I will have a nice clean car and won't have junk blocking my cup holder anymore. Plus the paw prints are off the backseat so I won't be embarrassed to have people ride with me. emoticon

Lucy - I have 2 Schnauzer girls that love to track on my hardwood floors. But at least wood floors can be cleaned unlike carpet. I have grown to hate carpet.

I have worked my 45 minutes - now I am taking the break, and then back to work.

I truly am getting a lot done and liking my house better.

Don't let the idiots at work get you down - they probably have someone above them berating them. And as my hubby says "Stuff runs downhill" - if you know what I mean.

I'm going to sit outside - then back to work.

Thanks for the Flylady cleaning reminder, Woubbie! I need to get my timer out - that really helps eliminate the feeling of being overwhelmed. Gail, I am suddenly VERY thankful for the dirt my two Schnauz-boys track in. Those eight feet keep me from ever feeling like my floors are clean for longer than a half hour, but at least there are no dead things (GAK!) to remove. I don't deal with dead things very well... Anyone remember the gigantic rat that got trapped in my garage last July?? I really did contemplate shooting it but the whole idea of having to remove the gigantic corpse was nauseating. It turned out to be very worth the $138 it cost to have a professional named George come scare it out.

I struggling with my attitude/mood today too, Suzanne. I don't know where it comes from but I just feel blue (it could be annual fallout from Mothers' Day), and my boss and I just spend an annoying half hour on the phone with the Danish general manager berating us for budget numbers, quarterly reports, etc. that he says are "easy" numbers to pull together... That makes my hackles go up, but my feet are up right now, I am deep-breathing, and I am indifferent to his dismissive, disrepectful assessment of his American employees! At least I hope I am.

Have I ever mentioned that it was in one of FlyLady's emails that her mentor, Pam Young, mentioned the book that led me here? I don't care much for Pam, but the story she related really made me sit up and rethink everything I thought I knew about good nutrition. She had read Why We Get Fat, switched to low carb, and within a couple of months it enabled her to get off of statins and blood pressure meds. I guess I still owe them both a thank you card!

Gail, I can TOTALLY relate to the small animal pieces.

emoticon

Our floors are mostly dark wood, which you might think would be forgiving, but just the opposite. Every speck of dust or waterspot shows up like a beacon. I DO love her Rubba Sweepa, but I have to admit that I don't use it as often as I should. Frankly, mine's so beat up I probably need a new one. Hmm. Maybe I should I gotten one for myself for Mom's Day! Sure is a timesaver.

i too am trying to be a flybaby. sometimes it's working, sometimes not. my biggest deal is the floor. we live in a cottage with tile floors and have 3 big dogs and a cat bringing the outdoors in constantly. even when i go to bed thinking the floors look okay, i get up and see rings of dirt where the dogs have slept. they wake up clean and leave the dirt all over the floor and lately the stickys from pine trees have been covering everyone, so, the dogs coats are covered, our feet, everything. but, at least the floors are tile. when i get around to cleaning them it's not too hard. i just hate washing floors.
and my cat, omg, that little murderer is going to send me around the bend. lately he's taken to bringing his victims into the house. he used to just leave them outside on the deck. but, the last week--2 birds, a mouse, and a mole. the birds--there's feathers and guts everywhere. as i'm running out of the house for work, i get to the door to find the dead bird and feathers all over, so, i have to remove the body and then get the vacuum out and vacuum up the feathers and then wipe the area down. i mean, i suppose i could just remove the body and worry about the feathers and all later, but, i can't imagine just leaving that. and who knows how far the feathers will float during the day.
anyway, i can't make him stop killing, but, i sure wish he would stop bringing them inside. yuk! emoticon
pets, aren't they fun?

Woubbie - you are a gift from God today!

I was feeling so overwhelmed trying to get my house tidy for the appraiser.

This bit of advice was just what I needed to get me going. We can do anything for 15 minutes and those will all add up by day's end.

Thanks so much! emoticon

Sounds good Woubbie!

Suzanne, it is screaming hot here today, or is supposed to get that way. I am in an airconditioned office though and that hotter it is outside the colder it is in here!

Oh, she's got an essay or a letter for everything, does our FlyLady.

=========================

FLYLADY'S CRISIS CLEAN 101

Dear Friends,

I can hear the panic in your voices. "In a few days, we have a ton of company coming, what am I to do?" If you want a crash marathon cleaning session, I can help you, but be warned, without the routines, your home will be trashed again in a day. So you have to listen closely.

1. GO GET DRESSED ALL THE WAY TO SHOES, HAIR FIXED AND FACE MOISTURIZED OR MAKEUP PUT ON. DON'T QUESTION ME ON THIS. JUST DO IT NOW. Put on some good working music. Not too fast, just slow and steady. peppy, but not aerobic. Light a candle that has a good scent or put on some spices on to boil on a very low heat.

2. We are going to start in our kitchens. As the kitchen goes, so does the rest of the house.

Set a timer and spend 15 minutes in the kitchen. If your sink is not clean and shiny, then shine it first, then you can fill the sink up with hot soapy water and start to clear off the left and right counters. Empty the dishwasher, When the timer goes off. Stop what you are doing and go to the living room.

3. Set the timer again and do 15 minutes cleaning off the coffee tables or picking up toys or newpapers. Concentrate on one thing. Not all of it. Get a laundry basket and put the things that don't belong in the living room in the basket. Take a garbage bag with you too. Start throwing away the trash. Don't get caught up in the guilt we have about recycling this stuff. Just bag it up for now. As you get your home in order there will be plenty of time to recycle. For now we are focusing on getting the home presentable. You can't do this if you are hyperfocusing on sorting and recycling. So get over this perfectionism attitude. When the timer goes off, head back to the kitchen.

4. In the kitchen set the timer for 15 more minutes, continue to work on clearing the counters. DO NOT GET SIDETRACKED AND WANT TO CLEAN OUT A CABINET. WE ARE DOING ONLY SURFACE CLEANING.

5. Now take a break and walk around and look at what you have accomplished in just 45 minutes. Set the timer for 15 minutes and drink a cup of tea or coffee or whatever you love and just relax. When the timer goes off. You are back in work mode for 15 more minutes.

6. This 15 minute session is in the bathroom. Clean the bathroom sink first, swish the toilet, then pick up towels and dirty clothes and put them in the hamper. DO NOT GET SIDETRACKED AND START A LOAD OF LAUNDRY. I MEAN THIS. LAUNDRY WILL COME LATER!

7. When the timer goes off, you are back in the kitchen. For 15 more minutes. We can do anything in 15 minutes. Keep working till the timer goes off. Then you go to the living room once again.

8. In the living room, continue to pick up and put away.

9. Every 45 minutes take a 15 minute break. Do you understand this?
Adapt this schedule to fit your physical limitations and children's needs. But you get the picture. Stay focused on one job for 15 minutes. You are going to be so surprised at how much you get done in a day's time.

My timer is my best friend.

You can do this. Now turn off the computer and get to work!

Got to force myself to get the house tidy and clutter picked up. We are refinancing the house and an appraiser will be out sometime this week.

I'd like to get fitted for a proper-sized bra, too. I have been, but it seems like if it fit one place it didn't fit somewhere else. And that was several times ago going up and down in weight, too.

I had a nice Mother's Day my youngest son wrote me a sweet card and made me cry! Then he mopped my kitchen floor! My oldest son made me a clay hand print of his and and his sons hands! My other kids all spoiled me too but those made mr smile and cry! My daughter in love took me to somas and had me fitted for a bra and bought me one first time for an expensive one! I was kinda shocked at the size! I've been wearing the wrong size all these years! Lol ! I have work and then studying for final!!!

Just barely! Between slightly aching legs and an overactive cat - who wants to sleep on my sore legs when she's not dancing all over me - I decided I might as well go ahead and get up. Maybe I'll be able to go to sleep after being up for a while.

Not much planned for today. Have to take back the rental car and call the vet to see if I can take the cat in either today or very soon. It's time for her to have her thyroid checked again and I'm concerned because she's lost a lot of weight suddenly. Of course, the fact that she hardly eats anything could be related. Maybe get the kale planted. And maybe go to the store. And work on the accounting for my aunt's estate so I can get that distributed once the paperwork I did in Tulsa goes through. I guess maybe there's more planned for today than I thought!
