Holy carp! My thermometer said 88 degrees today and the time and temp sign down the road said 91. I don't think I've ever seen that kind of temperature here, 70 is a hot day for the middle of summer, and 80 is blazing.
Well, drat, I totally forgot about the Derby! I was so amazed at having a whole day off that I sorta spaced off all but the absolute necesseties - bank deposit, pay bills, get groceries. I've been home most of the day reading and relaxing. Tomorrow night I'm going out to dinner (Mexican) with my ex-husband and some of his friends. I won't go wild with the chips! My eating today was not so great, but I realized that my mind, body, and soul really have not been in the same room at the same time in quite a while. It's no wonder I haven't really been able to focus on food! LOL
Kris, jury duty?? How did I miss that?

yep, we watched the derby too. watched orb win and all those soaked muddy horses and jockeys. meanwhile my horses are lounging in the sunshine doing nothin' just doing laundry and some housecleaning today. shortly i am going to go out and cut some rhubarb and make a fruit crisp....a low carb fruit crisp. it's so delicious. i have been doing alot of yardwork and stable work this week and last night i was so sore from a few hours of shovelling, raking, wheelbarrow pushing, etc, etc. so, i filled a sock with grain and microwaved it for a couple minutes and draped that across my shoulders last night and again this morning as i hung out in bed and watched a movie this morning. oh, and i took a couple motrin. so, by about 1pm i felt more normal and all is good again. saturday i my only actual day off, so, i try to do as little as possible.
I have to go Tulsa to finish up my aunt's estate, Kris. It was supposed to be very easy and straightforward, but it hasn't happened that way. At least I shouldn't run into the snow next week that they had this week in Kansas City!
The next week or so should be challenging for me. It started Thursday night, with an unexpected dinner out with friends. Tonight is another dinner out. Potluck lunch at church tomorrow. Dinner out with friends. Dinner out with friends again on Tuesday. And then out of town for four days.
Unfortunately, it's not that I have so many friends. It's just that it seems like very group I'm in is going out to dinner next week!
Jury duty, Kris? I guess I missed that. That would be interesting.
Cold and rainy today, but not complaining because this is the same system that dumped 10+ inches across some of Minnesota the last couple days! Tomorrow we may hit 60 degrees.
I am off to the pet store to find some decent food for my dog. With all the issues she's been having, our vet recommended a special low residue food. But after a couple months I have seen no improvement digestively, so I decided not to spend the money on that expensive food. Did a little reading this morning and I think I have several good quality brands to check out, AND discovered that the food from the vet has corn grits as the first ingredient in the dry food which we have primarily been giving her. I never even looked, just trusted my vet. From what I've read, grains - and especially corn, are not good for dogs either! So, hopefully I can find something higher quality and grain free, although I doubt it will be any cheaper.

For once I don't think there's anything that will drag me out of my house on a Saturday! Which is OK cause I have a cubic boatload of paperwork to get caught up on. And some laundry.
Have a great day all!
“The great enemy of truth is very often not the lie--deliberate, contrived and dishonest--but the myth--persistent, persuasive and unrealistic. Too often we hold fast to the cliches of our forebears. We subject all facts to a prefabricated set of interpretations. We enjoy the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.
Putting a pork roast in the crock pot for dinner, then working on the phone today for several hours to set up my appointments for work for next week, then I will do some housework, then relaxing and watching the Kentucky Derby with DH. No mint juleps for me this year though....gonna stay in full compliance with Atkins. The scale is finally starting to move! Yay!
Happy weekend Everyone!

Hey all we have our annual women's banquet tonight I have alot to do! It's women around the world! So we hv 5 different countries represented and I am doing France! I'm making ratatouille and creaps plus speaking! So much to do!!
Cooler and rainy today. I'm skipping the Farmers Market this morning because there isn't anything I really need. Will work at the library for three hours to cover the lunch breaks. Going out to dinner tonight and will probably watch the Kentucky Derby while we eat. And I need to do some housekeeping to get the house in order for the woman who is going to be taking care of Tanny (my cat) while I am gone. And that's about all that's planned for today.
