Quite a bit cooler here today, but it was nice after a little drizzle earlier this morning..

Had a good walk and finally got my house vacuumed... Thought I'd never finish....

Gloomy, very rainy day all day today!! Been feeling pretty frustrated! So, I have to be honest...I fell off the low carb today big time. Not only did I NOT go to the gym for my work and just sat around all day watching movies...I also ate about 4 SF Russel Stover candies plus 2 whole Thomas' English Muffins with lots of butter. Of course, the muffins were my biggest downfall...at 24 carbs each!! That's 28 carbs more than I should have for the day. Plus more, if I count some of the sugar alcohols from the candy in. Ugh! I know I'm going to regret it tomorrow, but I will get back on track tomorrow and go to the gym too! I may be 'down' today, but I refuse to give up!!

Counting down the days to my big trip to CA a week from today! Doesn't look like I'll make my goal, but its ok. I'm not going to beat myself up about it. I will try to stay on low carb the whole trip and when I get back....watch out! I will be ready for Phase Two! Stronger and more determined!!

spam! emoticon when i was a kid and we were poor, my mom made spam roast (more than once), nice glazed (with jelly) spam with pineapple rings on top. as a joke last christmas, i made one for the christmas dinner. then i laid out the dinner with the "lovely" roast as the centrepiece. when my mom came in to the table, she had a good laugh. we all had a little bite. that stuff is nasty. i don't know how we ever ate that. fortunately after the laughs were over, i had a turkey to pull out. the dogs seemed to enjoy it though.
re: thawing. i put the meat in the sink and let room temp or slightly warm water run over it to thaw quickly.
we had a wicked storm last night around midnight. all of a sudden the skies opened up and it poured and hailed like mad. lasted for about 15-20 minutes and then it just stopped and today is gorgeous. weird.

The eggs are gone but I've got tuna! And sardines... :)

I got the week's meat supply out of the freezer and stuck it in the fridge sometime yesterday, so maybe if I put it on the counter when I get home it will be close to thawed by the time I get home from walking the boys! Otherwise it's Tuna Night!

Had a really fun Friday/Saturday with my MIL and then yesterday pretty much just hung out, relaxed, napped, and did my Sunday chores. Today I'm just not inspired!! Not so much a Manic Monday as it is a Meh Monday. I don't have much energy - need to focus on getting enough sleep and going back to regular workouts this week. And as I sit here writing this post I am remembering that I forgot to put any meat out to thaw! Drat.

Good afternoon, all. I have been sufffering many health complications and I fell off the low carb wagon, only to have my Dr. tell me to get back on it! I learned that I have many food allergies, some that make the way I followed this program in the past impossible. Not allergic to all vegetables, just the ones I seemed to use the most, but not allergic to good meats or fats, yeah! So, with that said, I am back on this WOE for the rest of my life. Not complaining, just explaining.

Old is not an excuse!

hi, All -- nearly 6:30 pm here already. Mondays nearly always fly by!

Got all my work done, and also arranged to view another house tomorrow. We will see. It's pretty close by, about 10-12 min away, and looks good. But then again, many have online photos that have been sooooo deceptive!

Still going up one pound and down one pound, on the "down" one at the moment.
Should adding fat help, or..?

Good morning, all!

My legs are not nearly as sore/stiff today as I was expecting. The calves are just a little tender, but otherwise fine. I'm still rather surprised that we did so well on Saturday. I've been doing squats/pliés for a lot of months, but virtually no cardio. Other than my blood sugar dropping more than I had anticipated at the end of the walk I was fine. Never even out of breath until that long last hill. (Dang Western Pennsylvania hills!)

Went to the Symphony yesterday with my elder son. The school district had a special promotional rate and his teachers were raving about it so he asked me (Tuesday, I think) if we could still go. Meh. Beethoven's not my favorite, but who am I to say no to classical music for cheap? Tickets were only $19. for really decent seats so we went. It was sold out! Beautiful performance of the ninth. I still only like 2 of the 4 movements, and my son only really enjoyed the final movement, but I'm still glad we went. As a bonus, there was a little reception for the students and their families with one of the performers, who actually lives in the district and gives lessons to a few of the kids. And then, out of the blue, we were joined by the music director of the Pittsburgh, Manfred Honeck! What a treat! Very nice, soft-spoken man, very encouraging of the younger kids especially.

I seem to have a problem with my back this morning. I think it was because I was laying down quite a bit yesterday. I really felt lousy and drained. I was up to clean up my kitchen etc. but mostly took it easy. I am down a couple of pounds from Friday but not down to my goal for April. Still 2 more pounds to go. It has been up and down all month. I realize that radiation treatments may have played a factor in that.

Today I go to the oncologist to see what medication he wants me to take for the next 5 years. My main desire is that it not cause me to gain weighty. I still have so much more I want to lose. I am also loking at starting a walking program for myself to get ready for the Relay for Life that I want to walk in the end of June. I haven't really done much walking since my Total Knee Replacements and need to build up to this. I will be walking around the football field at the high school. This will be on June 22 so I am working up to it. Wish me luck. Oh and I get to walk the "Survivor" lap! Yay!

I have had a knot in my upper back all weekend. I can't stretch it out, trying to find a massage. My sanity is in danger, I don't do well with constant irritations.

Working until about 4 pm today. After that, I will be making a nice grilled shrimp dinner on my George Foreman grill with greeen beans and taking a 30 minute walk, though I might need to do it at the gym since it's suppose to rain later today. Then settling in for the night to watch my guilty pleasures "The Voice" and "CASTLE" YAY!!! Will be officially starting Atkins plan on Thursday, but until then staying away from sugar and working on being more consistent with exercise.

Gray and overcast today, but it's supposed to stay dry and to be warmer today. Not much planned for today.
