I have to drive to Tulsa in a couple of weeks. Ten to twelve hours each way. There was no way I could have done it with my knee the way it was on Sunday. That's why I was thinking about the shot - just to get me to Tulsa and back. I am optimistic that the problem was just because I had abused my leg, not because it's always or even usually going to be that bad. So the ibuprofin, if I need it and and for a short term, makes a lot more sense. My knee hasn't bothered me at all since Monday night. And I hope it stays that way! But thank you all for your concern, and I will be careful with the ibuprofin.

You all be REALLY careful with the Ibuprofin. It can cause all sorts of damages, from kidneys, bleeding stomach, liver issues... Use that dosage ONLY with doctor care. I had a friend who had an ulcerated stomach lining from Ibuprofin...

It's been beautiful here today too - I wore shorts when I walked this morning. First time this year!! I've been wearing capri's, but today was the first shorts...

Tonight it was a rib eye with sea salt, but there's a burger packed up for lunch tomorrow! LOL Suzanne, you definitely started it! :)

Maw, I'm glad it's only three weeks - that's a good time frame for an experiment in non-invasive, OTC treatment!

I'm still drinking Chinese herbs and echinacea tea, and I feel better but I still sound like a dude.

The weather is gorgeous here - a tad chilly (57 according to my phone app), but it still looks like I should be out THERE instead of in HERE...

Burger for lunch, burger for dinner! I think I've decided that ground beef, beef fat, and sea salt are the best flavors ever. Yum!!

Maw, I like the idea of going with ibuprofen first - that would be great if it helped, but that also seems like a lot to dump into your system. Would that be an ongoing dosage??

The doctor agreed that it makes sense for me to try the ibuprofin first, and get the shot if that doesn't work. Of course, at the moment my knee doesn't hurt at all. Saw the PT and she gave me some exercises to work on, and then I'll see her again in a couple of weeks.

Maw, the shot is scary sounding but I had them a few times and they really helped a lot. Sort of sore at first but then really helped. Good for you for getting some help from PT. I give a lot of credit to my improvement from my PT guy!

You must live in VA too. I was COLD yesterday and two weeks ago I was walking on my lunch and it was 85 degrees. It really needs to pick a season and stick with it.

There was an article in the Eureka paper, Naypooie, about 20 years ago, that listed all 29 days that it had been 70 or above in Eureka, since they started keeping records back in the 1800s. More of those hot days were in January and February than were in June, July or August!

Good luck Maw.

It's been 70 degrees, sunny, and no wind the last two days here. Since 70 is a hot summer day for here, this is way weird.

Another rainy, soggy day here, and high about 20 degrees below normal. Crazy weather!

I have an appointment to get a corticosteroid (?) shot in my knee this morning, but I'm going to talk to the doctor about another option that was on an info sheet his nurse gave me. It's to take 3 ibuprofin 3 times a day for 3 weeks. For some reason it was crossed out on the sheet. I'd much rather try that than the shot! I have to drive to Tulsa and back - 10 or 11 hours each way - early next month, and I need some sort of help to make it. Then this afternoon I have an appointment with a physical therapist. I plan to ask her a bunch of questions, including the best way to do things (like vacuuming and gardening and getting up off the floor and things like that) as well as ask her for some exercises I can do at home.

Depending on what the doctor does this morning, I may run some errands while I'm out, too. Or not.
